Speaker 1 (00:00):
Philly. Yeah, they're also off to a crazy hot start.
They're freaking undefeated. Yeah, had an insane come back tonight.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Lookout one tonight. It's not going out to night.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Tyrese Maxie is shot out the gate.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Yeah, like a freaking can from three. Fifty percent from three.
He's one of the best shooters in the NBA. It's
it's kind of crazy, somebody that quick athletic is one
of the league's best shoots.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
He's averaging thirty seven points. That's that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Seven assists.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
The rookie vj. Edgecombe is just that's.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Been supposed to bro He's showing He's showing a lot
of maturity, and.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
That's what I like about him the most.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
He's not backing down, he's not shot shooting a shot
like he and nothing taking away from the seem.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
To phase him.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
He's not.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
He doesn't seem rushed like on the pick and.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Roll, like getting good minutes from the other guys too.

Speaker 6 (00:50):
I had a chance to watch him in Boston. I
was at the game live and a lot of what
y'all already said his maturity, because I'm looking at him
like some shot he could have took most rookies would
have took.

Speaker 5 (01:02):
He was making the extra pass, he was making the
right shot.

Speaker 6 (01:06):
I'm gonna tell you something, if he turns out to
be who we think he can be by the end
of the year, Philly is the most.

Speaker 5 (01:14):
Talented team in the East.

Speaker 6 (01:16):
Because listen, like, if Joel Embiid is your second best player,
that's saying a lot yea, saying a lot.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Of tyras, and then Joe and then TG also, and
they haven't got Jared McCain back yet either, so it
was yeah to the bottom, could have been rookie year
last year Jereed McCain.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
But yeah, he's just so explosive, bro.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
He caught a lot off balance. I don't know how
in the Boston I was like, I didn't know what.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
I didn't know what was going on.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
How was that and landed it and not like it
was a regular day and the neighbor I'm like, nah,
he's different.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Athletically, he definitely jumps off the page. It's kind of
crazy when I think about it, because I think a
lot of people thought Scoot Henderson was that an athlete, yeah,
coming into the league, and it's kind of been proven
that he's not. Like he's not that like world class, Like, bro,
you can't stay in front of him, and he's going
to like jump out the gym, you know, a sort

(02:13):
of Westbrook d Rose Like I'm gonna I don't want
to get crazy.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
But that's what they compare him to right the time.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
But it's just been remarkable, but remarkable to watch. And
I do want to call out Quentin Grimes, who I
think has had a great start to the season.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Yeah, it felt like they played like crazy hardball.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
With this kid.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Again it said they have They're getting good minutes from
other guys.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Bona like he was right for them later in the stretch.
He was freaking Kelly, you know what I'm saying. Like
Grimes and Tyres brought them back, but Bona was the
one that kind of like made the plays down the
stretch to get them over the hump to win.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
But yeah, they're making winning plays man. It's said Philly,
like like p said, they can go pretty far in
the East if they if they used to get healthy
and start clicking at the right time. They have they
have the talent.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
I think they got the best back quart to the East.

Speaker 6 (03:07):
VJ ho com uh uh Edgecombe if he's Rookie of
the year.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
They're coming out of the East.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
So you games into the season, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (03:18):
If he's.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
He's gonna have to be a rookie of the year, though,
Like he's getting enough opportunity, enough shots where ain't nobody
like my pick. I was trying to strategically pick my
rookie of the year. I looked at Dylan Harper, I
looked at Coop. They're surrounded by so much talent. I'm like,
they're not gonna get a lot of opportunity early on.
I looked at Edgecomb and I was like Joelle and
Tyrese and pj PG and then Jared mccannam, he ain't

(03:41):
gona get though shots, but a lot of those guys
are out. He's getna plenty of was gonna get an
opportunity in Utah, He's let him go. He's not getting
the minutes there, but like VJ is getting the opportunity
right now in Philly.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
So before we move off of Philly, just I want
to know what y'all think Joel has to show you
in order for you to be like because to me,
I don't think this is a serious conversation.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
If Joel isn't playing okay, So.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
In terms of progress on the court, what do you
want to see from Joel this season going into the
playoffs where he's like, you know what, he's gonna go
to the playoffs and be an impact player.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
I got to see his just his body, like his movements.
I'm watching him and the points he's putting up, good numbers.
I don't the numbers no matter, he's a genius. Aid
that he's gonna, he's gonna. He's just his I Q
he's gonna get you twenty and ten regards, like he's
gonna get to the free the line, he's gonna get
his jumper. How he's moving on screens and defensively, and
I've seen he's kind of reluctant to do certain things

(04:44):
Joelle when he's Yes, he was when Joel was locked
in and he's like you were seeing him in Boston
a couple of years ago, able to protect the rim.
When he's able to do that, and he showed me
he can do that, that's when I know he's back
and they're gonna be contented.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
If he's able to still want to see.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Him be able to move on defense laterally.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
And just at the rims not because there's no way
Czar should be getting dunks in the get like old
Joel ain't letting that happen.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Nobody's getting laugh to dunks, like there's too many free baskets,
not regular seasons.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
He might be coasting, but even posting in the past,
he would.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Still, especially when a young kid kind of tries to
go at you. Still he would do white side every
time they played, Like if a young kid tries to
come at you, like, got to show improved.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
I think he's not trusting his body yet.

Speaker 6 (05:25):
What I want to see from Joel Embiid is when
his minutes go up. I want to see because you know,
he complained about his minutes and he can't be productive
in the minutes he's getting well Seany can't when he
started his minutes start to go up. Kenny accept the
fact to say, hey, this is Maxi's team, Yeah, because

(05:45):
you know, you know, when you've been an MVP in
this league and you've been dominant.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Force, you've been the process since you.

Speaker 5 (05:52):
Know, can you accept the fact that this is like
his team now?

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Because I think he's I think he's I think he's
past and the torch shown. I don't I'm not saying
that he doesn't care, but I think he's like, okay, and.

Speaker 6 (06:05):
Are you cool with this rookie what he's doing? You
know what I'm saying. Can you come to practice? Can
you come into the game and be like, Okay, it's
the rookie and the young guys night, or do you
have to be that guy?

Speaker 5 (06:18):
You feel like?

Speaker 6 (06:18):
You know what I'm saying that that that's gonna be
the key as the season goes along for them.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
That's pretty much. Is he gonna be able to play
winning basketball? Yeah, that's pretty much what you're saying. Is
he gonna be able to adapt to ajust because that's
what it's gonna take for them to be a winning team.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
He has to give himself to something that doesn't involve
dropping thirty.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
Yeah, exactly, And we'll.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
See if you can do that.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
But I do because I feel like there's been so
many surprising results as the season has started. One of
the things that shocked me the Heat not only just
off to a three and one start, the fact that
they are the fastest paced team in the league, right
like the Miami heat, top three, top five in the

(07:02):
offensive efficiency, Like, that's kind of crazy to see. And
the Sixers being four and oh again, I thought they
were headed for the lottery again. But like the fact
that these guys are four and oh and their young
guys are doing that, I'm just I'm just super surprised
about that.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Yeah, what's more shocking to you?

Speaker 3 (07:19):
The Miami piece the Miami like the style of play
because I don't know, I guess I'm just so used
to spol doing one kind of thing where it's kind
of like the half court offense and the beautiful game
and the ball movement and all of that. But now
they're just like, Bro, we're gonna play it. We're gonna
be like the Pacers last year, and we don't have
a Hall of Burton. We're just doing it collectively. Bam

(07:41):
is shooting three, this is yeah. And this is what
Tyler Hero being.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
I feel like a lot of times.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
That he'd be having in best moments when Tyler Hero's
not there.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
But whatever.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Both both are shocking to me. But I think if
you would have told me what the Sixers schedule was,
I would say, you know, they have Boston is not Boston.
They could have been Boston d C. So, but I
think they could have been you know those team teams.
Miami being number one fast rak points and then beating
New York. Yeah, you know, without talent hero that's like that.

(08:13):
But both both are surprising to me. But Miami said
being in a down year being number one in pace
and fast break points and points per game and rebound
the top three and points and rebounds per game, that's
that's shocking to me. Spose got some he's got those
guys in a.

Speaker 6 (08:28):
Well, it's not shocked by me that that's one of
the top personnel though he's still he's shown me he's
one of the top two or three coaches over the
last six seven years. So that's not surprising me. That
Miami team he led to the finals as a as
a playing team. I mean, come on, that's that's just
typical right here. So that's not surprising me. Philly is

(08:50):
surprising for me because when I come into the season,
PG not playing McCain is not playing embiids all minutes
restriction you know, no, by no means that I think
Maxie will be It's dominant as a thirty forty and
a rookie out here taking all the shine away from
a guy who we already held as one of the
best rookies to come in in Cooper Flag.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
And so you know that's that's shocking for me right now.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
So some other major storylines to start the season. Okayc
looks like, okay, see even without JDub, Yeah, I mean,
Shay is you know, he's he's going to carry the
load on offense kind of no matter what.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
They've been in a lot of close games, Bro, they
look like, Okay, they've been winning games. They're five and zero,
but they've been some really close games and without JDub
of course, Okay, it's without J. But there are some
kids that have been surprised that k Aj Mitchell has
been been really good.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Bro. He was getting final minutes.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
He's been really good, which.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Is just crazy, like like a lot of people who
love the NBA have never even heard of his kid,
and now he's in a prominent role. It feels like
these young kids just grow on trees for these guys,
and it's kind of like a plug and play situation.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
I think through the draft, Bro, they got a lot
of goal through the draft. They've drafted very well.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
And They're still guarding the hell out of people, which
is to be expected. And yeah, I'm not surprised that
the games are a little bit closer, but they do
kind of got that championship pedigree.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
And you guys can speak to this.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
That year after you win the championship, you kind of
take a different approach to the regular season.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
It's even harder on p knows this like you had
a bigger target on your back. Yes, everybody's giving you
their best shot. Hence, while they're in those close games,
Sack had this game then, I don't know how they
fumbled it. Russ been playing well too. Russ had eighteen
other night sixteen a night like coming off the bench
with the Kings, but the Kings were up the whole game.
They don't make sense to me. They're like the roster

(10:48):
building on but it's an unbalanced squad. But they they
were supposed to win that game tonight. But champions that
they find a way to win. Man, and they got
Aaron Wiggins giving them a plus, you know, ship doing
what he does. Ajent Mitchell knocking down shots like Alexcrusso
hitting the game win like three balls give give him
the lead. So they find it in many different in

(11:10):
various ways. Lou Dort, you know, doing what he does. So,
uh are they the favorite right with the West?

Speaker 2 (11:16):
To me?

Speaker 3 (11:17):
I mean yeah, it seems like you guys look at
the East as a toss up.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
It's going through the West.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
It's okay, c the clear favorite to come out of
the West.

Speaker 5 (11:26):
This year without a doubt. They're young, they gotten better.

Speaker 6 (11:31):
And what I mean by that within the development because
when I'm seeing from Chet Hong Girn, he looks better.

Speaker 5 (11:38):
You know what.

Speaker 6 (11:38):
When I'm seeing from guys like women Wiggins, he looks better.
And Sga is gonna be Sga. The thing about when
you come off a championship and I remember the year
after we won, and you can attest to this, Uh, Danny,
we didn't think we can win anymore.

Speaker 5 (11:53):
We knew we can win. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
We'll look up.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
We be down there, team, Yeah, we got it.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
Just walk them down, circums.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
You're no fear of losing. Like there's no fear of losing.
You're always in the game. Now, you're always in the game.
