Speaker 1 (00:19):
What's up, y'all? Welcome back to No Fouls Given, presented
by Prize Picks Big Wise, of course, and I'm joined
by the two legends, the two champions, Paul Pierce Danny Green.
Let's let's get episode. What episode is this?
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Three?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Wow? Wow? Episode three? Getting off the ground. Man. You know,
I was in Nashville for a bachelor party this past weekend.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
About it?
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Talk to just great city, great food, great great food,
great drinks, a lot of live music.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
You know what what happened? I've never been to a
bachelor party?
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Well, what happens? You did have a bachelor party. I've
never been to one, bro so, but I've been places
where you could have considered there was one maybe, Okay
from what I hear this one.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
It was like a group of ten guys got together
three airbnbs literally right next to each other. Three houses. Yeah,
everybody had their own room on space, on whatever, and
just the itinerary, dinners, drinks. The bachelor is a big
country music fan, so that's why he wanted to have
(01:38):
and nash No golfing, entertainment, no comf doing that.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Adult drinks.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah, adult drinks.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
What I'm saying, Oh, adult.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
A lot of different things. I went to a little club,
little party clubs.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
Trust me, he said, it was one of the best weekends.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Of this So you did your jobs.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
So I'm happy about that. Shouting my man, Matt, I'm
sure you go on the rite note, you know. So
I'm literally looking at Instagram and I see Paul reposting
his own prop again.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
As you should, bro.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
He really reposted.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
I'm like, you know, this guy is hilarious. He found
this content creator.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Was like, oh yeah right, somebody tagged on.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Somebody tagged just reposted it like I didn't put this up.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
So for those who don't know, somehow I haven't learned
to see this.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
Paul has been doing this. I was better than t Wade.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Years business bro for years now, supposed to believe in yourself.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
I was asked the question. Truthfully, I didn't just come
out and say, hey, I'm better than the way. It's like,
there's a thousands players you could have seen. Yeah, you
as directions like that's how I felt.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah, could you reiterate? Why did you feel like you're.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
More on the talent based type of instead of not
like the resume, it was more of the talent.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
I felt like all right, of course, you know d
Waite's a three time champion, the Finals MVP, I got
a lot of more accolades that actually, but when I
like look at it, I think I was a more
versatile player, play more positions, could be more things out
on the court. Loe, Yeah, more longevity, and I didn't
have the luxury to play with a lot of horror
(03:39):
Hall of famers in my prime. You know so, But
no shout out to d Way. He wanted the greats.
I ain't taking around away from it. It was just
a question was brought to me, and this is what
made me the player I was. Anyway you could have
asked you about I'm like a superstar All Star.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
You gotta be like think that way.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
I mean, after we won the championship and I got
that Finals MVP, I said I'm the best player in
the world. Did people got offended from that? I just
want if you do, you know what I'm saying. So
that's what made me who I was in NBA. Competitive
wanted to be one of the best. So you know,
(04:16):
whatever people say, I don't really bother me. Man, You
know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
You know, I had never really considered the question until
you have went viral that first time. But realistically, when
when I think about Paul's career, I think people don't
really understand, like especially that finals against the Lakers.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
But I think it's a very underrated fact fast the
most underrated careers resume plays facts in the game for sure,
And when you look at it from a skill standpoint,
now I see where his argument comes from.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Yeah, yeah, based on like that, right, Yeah, but then
a lot of people didn't see me pre Big Three.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Yeah, they.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
You gotta kind of go to that.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
The reason I say that is because you know, when
you guys won that championship against the Lakers, Paul didn't
have a defensive reputation before that kind of run.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
Yeah, and he's in the finals and he's strapping Kobe.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Yeah, I'm not afraid to say.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
That that's what happened, was bro.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Yeah, I mean I was doing it all playoffs, you know,
because we didn't have the recognition.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
And would you consider that a little bit past your
prime years?
Speaker 3 (05:28):
It was like like I was, I was thirty, right,
so I was on the opposite end of it because
like now, the primes is lasted longer. And that's just
involvement of the players. You know, a lot of the
good player great players was retiring at thirty three, thirty four. Yeah,
you know, like my tenth year, I had a lot
of miles already. Yeah, I had a couple of broken
(05:49):
bones and stuff.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
So I started saying that it's about when it starts.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
To Yeah, yeah, I was on it. I was definitely not.
I'm just told out and just was like, all.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Right, one stuff, little step yea.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Even in twenty twelve when you guys went up three
two against the Heat, like it was Paul like Garden
Brown on the bro. You guys had a great team defense.
Obviously it wasn't like doing it, but like that was
your primary last of that broun fucking James and his pride.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
It's like I'm playing this young dude. He's the fastest,
the tallest, the strongest guy in the league, and I'm
out here almost like a dinosaur, like they trying to
keep up.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Yeah, so you know, so yeah, I think a lot
of people took it like.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
I think they were the last of the dying breed though,
like that Celtics team where they didn't they really competed,
they didn't they talk, they ship, they didn't back down
from nobody, and they like met competition like head on,
like a lot of guys now they're like they compete,
but they don't ever guard each other no more. You
know what I'm saying. It's like, all right, you see
Edwards talk about SGA, but they ain't gone. You know
(06:55):
what I'm saying. You don't see that the head up
like back then, it's like, nah, I'm getting he's like,
I got cold. You what I'm saying, I got I
got Timmy. So like they matched up and you didn't
see that anymore. But that was like the last of it,
like that era. So but that was that was when basketball.
It was a great time in basketball.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Man. So wait, so, so what you treating that? Like?
How chucking them treat the nineties?
Speaker 2 (07:18):
What do you mean in terms of what? No, no, no,
no at all. I mean I said, I'm I like
my because I got a small part of that when
I came in, and then I also got the in
the back end of the new era and I got
in the between. So I see the good and all. Yeah,
you know parts of each era, but growing up watching it,
that was that was the best time.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
It's hard for me to see the good in the
two thousand and five finals with you know what.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
I feel like with our era, this is what I
feel like our air compared to today, and you got your
grades to today. I feel like our era had more aura.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
For sure. The celebrity was way different. That's also because
the players, the social media kind of ruined the celebrit
you know what I'm saying, Like there's too much access
to everybody and everything. Man, when we see these guys
playing like like the.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
The guys with the or today of course KD. Curry,
Lebron and then like you know, Win being starting to
develop that, but like they this or is not really
you know what I'm saying, Like when I when I
stood at the jump ball and I saw Ai right there,
like damn Tim dunkantt right there, Like damn right there.
(08:28):
It's a problem. Right before the game start. You look
at you just kind of looking at you, trying to
looking at his shoes, you seeing how you're wearing his socks.
You just kind of like up the side of your eye.
You like it's just like a it's like a glow
right there. It's like you go stare and I don't
really see that.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah, I hear it it's a different time.
Speaker 3 (08:46):

Prize picks is good to be.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Right, all right, So let's get into our previous.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Prize picks from last week. Yes, yeah, I think we
got some. We have some decent ones.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
I think we did decent between the three of us.
I think viewers gotta figure out over time who they
should be trusting more. Because between the three of us,
I think we're getting some. But yeah, if yous gotta yeah,
y'all gotta pay close attention. So the first pick was
DeAndre eight more, but he got hurt though.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
The crazy thing is he had all that he didn't
play the whole second half.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Got you right, So he got the nine points and
so he was on his way to actually cashing our bet.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
I feel he would have got like he probably have
got right at fourteen to fifteen, but he would have
definitely had at least four to six points in the
second half.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
So me and you had him for more.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Than fourteen and a half.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
Paul said, less, Paul got that one.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
The injury, the injury, injury, But you got them them guys,
putting up buckets with Luca.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Yeah, Luca came back, dropping back forty four points his
first game back from injury.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
We do we have a more or less for him?
Speaker 1 (11:22):
No, because I don't think he was announced to be that. Yea.
By the way, Adam Silvera, get on that make these
teams more serious about the injury report earlier.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
How do you come back from injury and drop forty
four crazy? What's hurt? It's crazy?
Speaker 2 (11:40):
It was it was his left hand. It was his
left hand and a contusion.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Yeah, which I guess it is just like you just
kind of got arrested.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
That was That was a big win. And that was
also the game where job Yeah, we gotta get it started.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
So just to set this up, if you were watching
the fourth quarter of this game, like Jodge is straight
up wasn't trying.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Not even the fourth court, like the whole second half,
but definitely the fourth quarter, you could tell he was
very he was disinterested, broke, and I'm looking at it
like somebody said something to him, like everybody's everybody can
see it.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Bro So they had you know how they got the
tracking data. Now they said it's the slowest he's ever
ran in it in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Game, he was like he was like up and down
the court jogging. And then he also it was like
one time where he didn't even backcut, like somebody threw
a back the door cut to him. He just like
and just watched that shit go out of bound. So
it was like times I'm like, damn, he catch up
the hot post. I don't know who was guarding his
back up. He was not even looking at the room.
He just looking left right who to throw it to?
N I was like, damn, I'm like, nah, some some
(12:41):
had to be said, and some's gonna come out after
the game. I ain't think he's gonna say that, but
I knew something was gonna come out after the game.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
So they did. So after the game, the reporter is
asking him, like what's going on, he was like, I
don't know. At the coaches. He just kept saying, ask
the coaches and the coaching staff. And then it came
out that after the game, he.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Also said, they probably what do you think they're thinking.
They're probably saying they shouldn't play me. Probably not is
what they they're probably saying. So they talk to them.
So to myss, I don't know it coach. Young guy,
he's around my age. I know a couple. We have
(13:25):
a couple of mutuals. Play with some of his homies
overseas randomly has a good coach interviewed them one time.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
It has a great reputation over there in Europe. I
guess he might be trying to set the tone of
what the culture of accountability is gonna be with the Grizzlies.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
And allegedly he tore John Moran a new one the game.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
I think he's trying to build some respect.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
And they had they had a heated back and forth.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
I don't mind that.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Give us, give us you inside of a coach. I
know you had docs, so it's different. But like, how
do you feel if a coach comes at you without
giving you Like some coaches might give your heads up beforehand,
like oh I'm a coach of today, or I gotta
let you like or address the team as if I'm
talking to you and not saying single you out and
(14:15):
then later on bring you to the office, Like how
do you approach that? How do you think you should.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Say what you feel about me in front of everybody?
Because I'm gonna say the same thing right in front
of everybody. Yeah, so like, come on, like, you gotta
be coachable because Doc would always say, allow me to coach.
You know what I'm saying, So like, if that's what
is it is, you were coaching me, go ahead, you
can say it in front of everybody that's saying though
I ain't no little kid, I ain't no punishment for sure,
(14:41):
Like all right, come on.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
You already built a rapport with Doc. This is a
new coach. I feel like that's what I think is
going in today's NBA is very different.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Bro, Like I do got a good story. No, When
Doc first got there, though, we wasn't cool.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Okay, it wasn't all cool. Okay, I was on some jock.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Doc.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
I was like, man, I ain't one of these little
kids like you're talking to. I feel like you have
to do that with Doctor man. I was like, we
did have. We did bump heads at first because he
was new. But the thing is this coach been on
the staff right.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Yeah, he's they brought him in early last year. Yeah,
they made they replaced Taylor's whole.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
So sometimes with your star, because think about this, your
star used to doing it one way where he saw success.
Then you bring in somebody else to say, all right,
we're gonna go in a different direction because your way
ain't won a championship. So then he taking you out
your comfort zone, which Doc did for me and I
got pissed. So maybe he's trying to get Jock out
his comfort zone to where he's talking to him exactly
what he's trying to do.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
You know what I'm saying, Yeah, I think this is
also I think doctors see how you respond as a
leader and on the court. That's what Doc's good at.
Like he I considered myself like a laid back, nice guys.
Even with Doc, I had to be like, Nah, Doc,
you ain't gonna do that shit to me. I got enough. Nah, bro,
(16:06):
don't be trying to you know what I'm saying, pick
on me and bullyeve me because I'm the nice guy
type shit. But again, I know he's challenging me, like, Yo,
you gotta be the leader, you gotta police the locker room,
you gotta do this, and I'm challenging to take on
It's like cool, but with a new coach, I feel like,
especially if you don't have that rapport or a star,
you gotta let him know. Like before and I'm gonna
coach you, I'm gonna criticize you. Maybe he did have
that conversation, maybe it was too long ago, but like
(16:28):
it's like, you gotta build that rapport before you can
cuts a guy out, a superstar out. Mind you again,
this tells me I don't know if Joe signed off
on Taylor being fired or him being like.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
The one thing. It shouldn't effect I don't care what
y'all get into. It shouldn't affect what's going on this
court quite hard. You got you gotta hoop, then we'll
deal with that. That's the only thing. That's why I
feel like, damn man, because this was reminding me now
Jimmy Butler how he lost to love and you saw
it in a win in Miami. But you can't let
it effect you own. The court got to figure that out.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
That's that's just that's called being a professional too. But
if you're a professional, you gotta and how you approach
and talk to the media. If you feel like you
can't say something and a light that's gonna get you
like fined or SUSPENCD like, don't talk, just just leave it.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
I think he got fined for what he said. He
got suspended. Yeah, excuse me, suspended.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
They suspended him for a game. They suspended them for
a game. Bro so after.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
The he played, so he didn't play the.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Next game, Yeah, the next game. So after the comments
the team, the team suspend them. Detrimental to the comments,
detrimental to the team.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
They suspected him.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
So I'm like, yo, mind which I thought they were
out of packet for going that far, Like you could
find him, you should find him again. I'm I don't
think he said anything.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
No, I don't.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
It's a professional but suspension. I don't think it's a game.
I don't think it's the media comments.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
I do really think they think take it too far
in the back and forth when they got it in
front of the Yeah, I think a couple of things
are happening. It feels like a lot of NBA locker
rooms are very hesitant to embrace outsiders.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
I think it's insensitive.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Man and the coat and the coach doesn't come from
the NBA world, so it's kind of like, yo, who
are you? Like have you earned my respect? Type of thing.
And also the main thing to me is like they
treated y'all like a boy prince since he got there.
He's used to operating with a limited amount of accountability.
(18:38):
So now it's like y'all flipping the script. Now y'all
want me to be an adult.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
Like I've been behaving like a knucklehead since I.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Got the vet. Now you are supposed to be a leader.
We've traded, we've done anything. I don't know if you've
done everything you've asked of us. But they made moves
to surround you, make it you the franchise guy. So
at some point, yes, you gotta grow up. But again
I think it's more or so. The locker rooms are
just very sensitive, and coaches now are so much of
trying to tiptoe around and figure out gen centers. It's
(19:08):
like coaches have to and that's one of the main
reasons why I won't coach. It's like you gotta find
an avenue how to communicate with the guy and not
do this. But that the world is different, so certain
things can't be said in media, certain things can't be
said to people like they are grown men. But back
in the day, I'm not saying like that, but even before,
back in the day, like you should be able to
have a grown man conversation without it going too far
(19:30):
and without it affecting what's going on on the court.
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
What do you think about the idea that a coach's
main job is to get buying from his best players and.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Maybe manager goes, yeah, that's that's like eighty percent.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
That's the job. Like you can have the dopest X
and knows that you want. But if the guys ain't
bought in, if you.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Don't have to do your ship, it doesn't got to
have respect of your star player because once you see
it around all the teams, once you lose your superstar.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Yeah, it's a rap.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
It's pretty much.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
So do you think that job was cool with him
taking over the coach like Taylor being fired? Do you
think he signed up on that and you think that
he was okay with taking over? Man?
Speaker 3 (20:16):
From the looks of it, it really don't look like,
you know, because he was. It don't look like he
was involved in none of the discussions moving forward, Like
as far as.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Keep that's where I say the front office out of pocket. Yeah,
like you didn't discuss with this man.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
This is your franchise player, because listen, this is Memphis.
Memphis ain't a big market and you've got one of
the most watchable superstars. You don't want to lose him,
because I'm not watching Memphis without Job, you know what
I'm saying. I'm not watching unless you bring in somebody
like who like LaMelo Ball or somebody just as exciting
(20:53):
as him. Like you got a superstar that's watchable, that's
filling up the seats, y'all gotta figure something out of me.
Gonna go down once you get rid of him?
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Okay, but what he would like Just on the other
side of that, I feel like the previous two seasons
have basically been tricked.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Off injuries by Jah yes and also injuries. But the
point but that's the thing.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
I can't rely on you, you know what I mean.
It's so like this is like.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
This is a season where he's supposed to build that, yes,
but like the trust and show like I'm here to
that right now. So again I raised the question of like,
if this is the beginning of the end for him,
who is going to take a chance Like what contenders
or big markets are going to take a chance on.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
The first name that I've heard is Miami, because.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Gonna take a chance on because with all you know
they have the Terry Rose like the I think.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
I think it's almost like the Luca thing, where I
just don't think Luca becomes skinny. If he's still on
the MAVs. It's like, you gotta get traded, you gotta
have that blow to your ego.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
But not if he's like this, Luca got traded not
knowing he was, like, this is his job making the
trade happen. If it's like, oh, I want to go
to Houston or want to go to Miami, he ain't
taking no ego blow because this is what I wanted.
It's different for it if it was like, oh, I'm
this is my franchise, I'm good at his extension and like, nope,
we ain't giving you that three hundred and some extension.
You gotta go over here. You just lost one hundred
(22:24):
and fifty million dollars like Luca did, and it's like,
now that's it takes. That is that is a builds
a home. But this is a different like this different scenario.
If he forces the trade, it ain't his ego games.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
But I think Memphis would be happy to initiate the
trade if things continue to go again.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Who was taking the chance.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
I think it's time for a breakup.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
I do.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
I think they've worn out each other welcome, I mean
already gave it. How many other year is this for.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Joab It's gotta be six seven, maybe more than honestly
got we gotte he got drafted.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
Come on, because summer's.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
About right though, because that's when you start looking at
just relationships. The six seven year mark, that's like, stay
with her, it's gonna be over seven him. That seven
year mark is a real thing, y'all look it up
as far as like it could go either way at
that point. And I think they at that point today
(23:23):
where they both need to kind of uh separate ways.
And then you got a big draft coming up. So
if they can find a way to ease the pain
like Dallas did by losing Lucas.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
I think it's the only way that New Orleans can
get themselves back in some type of decent conversation, they
find a way to.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
New Orleans gets John Moran.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
If they can find a way to get you over there.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Get the other knucklehead from the twenty draft class.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
I'm not, I'm not, No, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
You think you think he's a spitting image of professionalism
in NBA.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
I think he's had some troubles. I'm not going to
go to the far extent of calling Zion or Job
or LaMelo ball and those guys knuckle. I don't know
them personally.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
What would you say about somebody who was dating a
weird porn chick and she.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Was going anybody?
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Would you say about somebody who.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Dating life like they like what they like as long
as you come to work and do your job.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
What would you say about a guy who has chronically
showed up to his job completely out of shape? Damn,
that's just I.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Would say he's unprofessional, unprofessional, unprofessional. As of right now,
they have not proved professionalism at all.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
To me, I'm not sure is it out of shape?
Because he's definitely productive when he's out.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
There, honestly, like Chunky's. It might have been more explosive.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Luca was.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
All right, but Chunky's bouncy, like his powers when he
gave I don't know he's he's balling right now. He's
put up numbers. They're are losing. When I said, I've
seen him dunk. Maybe it's getting older in age. He's
not even old. But again, Halfty's I was bouncy boy.
He was. He was putting in numbers. So it wasn't
like he wasn't producing, he was just getting injured.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
I just think New Orleans is one of the most
toxic kind of damn.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
I feel they have a bad luck thing going on.
There's a lot of injuries that we still have the
ownership in.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Yeah, it's just right there. It's not there, bro and
like John Morint going there and adding on to that.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
But if you got like, would you see them where
he wants to go? I don't know, Like I think
they where I did the best au Ye, Yeah, that's
what I think. And that's where like Cleveland or something
like that.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
I don't know why Cleveland would even.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
They're trying to move Darius and Jared Allen or someone
like you know what I'm saying, Like you get a
package of another big and a guard like that's like
Darius is similar. We're talking about Darius.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
John hat right there. That was a good one, you know.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
I mean, unless they went to like trying to prevent
Boston somehow. But again, I would Boston take the chance on.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
I don't know how you watch what doing for the
previous two seasons and now to start this season, be like, yo,
I need to get that guy in my building.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
But the talent is still TV.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
The talent is still there. Like he's somebody that I
always thought, like when the lights were the brightest, like
the playoff moments.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
And stuff, He's like he could dig, like take it
to another I've.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Seen him get forty in the play so like we've
seen him do that catch back with a lot like
he does all in the time the lights come up.
Col talk like he getting game winners. He's making stuff happen.
Yeah on the court, we know that.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
So parade in my city. Anyway, John came back last night,
had a decent game, more energy. They lost a close
game to the Pistons. Kate Cunningham another unreal performance thirty
thirty three points, eight assists, five ReBs b Stu dropped
(27:15):
twenty six fourteen rebounds.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
You're having a good year too, you know.
Speaker 5 (27:18):
Jalen Duran had another fourteen and nine.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
He had a career night the other night he had
like thirty something in Mesterco City.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Yeah, and so the Pistons are five and two, tied
for third in the East.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Getting better because they were they started off kind of shaking.
I was expected more for them in Orlando, but they're
putting themselves back in the conversation where they're supposed to
be so and Kate he up there right now, he
topt He in my top five point guards in the
league right now, top five, top five five, top five
point guard right now, top five. Probably they got a
(27:50):
list for us. We're gonna look at it.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
We're gonna get it. Get into that, get into that.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Damn hold on, I can't just throw that out there.
I gotta get to this.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
We're gonna get to it. You're gonna see the list, gonna.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Show you some of the top guys, prisoners of the moment.
He had a great season last year, twelve piece next week.
He was a clear cut All Star last year. I
thought he had a phenomenal series against the Knicks. For
(28:20):
that being last year, yes, third team. I think I
think that that Nick series being his first ever playoff series, like,
I thought, he handled himself really well and I think
he learned a lot from that and those Nick those
guys are the Knicks a bunch of playoff testing dudes,
like so many of them are. And for Kay to
do what he did in the playoffs last year, and
(28:41):
he's kind of hitting the ground running. It's really cool
to see.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Yeah, he's a definitely picking up his assist this year,
Like he had eighteen assists of the night that Dura Like.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Yeah, we used to kill him early on in his
career was the turnovers, Like he would just he would
just spray the ball everywhere and was always amongst like
some of the league leaders in turnover rate. But now
he's gotten that a little bit more under control. Three
ball is working to the extent that you needed to.
(29:13):
And yeah, I just love that this Detroit team has
an identity.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
I'm liking. I'm liking where they are. I think they
did lose a little Duncle Robinson's gonna pick up, but
losing Malik Beasley and Tim Hardaway jus different kind of shooting.
And they picked up carros He hasn't really done much,
but they picked up Uncle Robinson and Carrosselvert to replace
those two. And I feel like it seems like it,
but they productions in this league. The production is very different.
(29:42):
Different because he got up some numbers in Miami at
one point, but now he's more of like I give
you ten to twelve, we give you two three, three
is a game. And before league junior, my league was
and Tim Hardaway like six man of the year than candidate,
like he was like like he was very important to
that team last year year.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
I believe it was just really good at getting the
threes off, Like he was the only person on Detroit
that could that could shoot it at all.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
Making sure you have to get that out of here.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Allegations too, Yeah, we ain't trying to still an investigation.
That's why he didn't.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
They literally cleared I thought he cleared that.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Too, but they literally took his contract. He got in
trouble and they said, here, Duncan Robinson is yours. Duncan Robinson
got your check.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
It's tough, but I'm I'm I'm super excited about what
Detroit has done to start the season. We'll see where
they take it.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Keep it rolling, Welcome down, all right.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
We're still reviewing some of our previous prizepects.
Speaker 5 (30:47):
Tyres Maxie more or less, more or less.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
First NBA Cup game, more or less versus the Boston
Celtics twenty nine point five. He had twenty six. Yeah,
me and Danny said less. Paul said more.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Just I just to me it's just a lot of average.
I was like, he's gonna get I think he's gonna
get closed, but not get it. I said, twenty.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Dropping another thirty piece. But he still had a good
game fourteen in a loss.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
In a loss they won. The next team he had
twenty six again. I think, well the night, but the
game they lost one point game. Yeah, Jayleen Brown.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Jalen Brown. We said that he was gonna have to
carried a load offensively. He ended up having more than
twenty five and a half. Thirty two cleared it, easily
cleared it.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Paul and Danny had he had the twenty two minutes
he played or whatever it was. He had a twenty
ball bro every time Bro and we said he's gonna
have less than.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
A more or less than eighteen and a half twenty
five minutes. This guy dropped twenty points, grabbed six boards.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
Paul, Danny and Wash said less.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
He made us look like dummies. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
The Celtics ended up taking that one point when one
point when super close.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
So are we optimistic? The question is how do we
still feel about Philly.
Speaker 5 (32:14):
I don't see how they maintain him.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Like they're playing right.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Yeah, they played again in one fifty.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
Eight win pace sixty This is not a sixty one.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Who was the last game they played Washington? Was it
the Nets? Brooklyn? So I was the worst team in
the league. Yeah, so you're saying the schedule is pretty
easy right now. Yeah, but I like what Tyers is doing.
I like what VJ is doing. Yeah, Joelle is working
his way back here.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
The rookie has to hit the wall at some point,
like saying, they got the other kid when he comes back.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
McCain, Yeah, said I'm liking I'm liking what I see.
I'm very I'm still optimistic about them. I think they.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Can earn home homegoing in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
Yes, they got a good start. I think the start
is the biggest key to a lot of team seasons.
Like certain teams need that good stuff and for them,
they needed that. And they're doing this while they're not
fully healthy. McCain PG and Joel's a minute restrictions, So like,
get those two guys back and Joel will be full healthy.
I think they could stay afloat and still be in
(33:14):
the top four, top ship. Yeah, definitely top four.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
We'll see continuing on to some of these past games
from the weekend, the Bulls, of course stayed hot. They
split games. When I saw that Nicks loss, no, I'm not.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
Okay, I was just when they took that first loss.
Yeah yeah, I'm like, it's good. It's not even good
for Mike Brown either.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
I'm like, well, they playing a different style of basketball. Yeah,
you know what I'm saying. Before it was dribble, dribble.
See what Jalen Bronson gonna do when the pick and
roll figured it out. At least they moving the ball
a little more. So maybe in the long run, and I.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
Think so too. I think they. I think it'll it'll
serve them if they actually stay committed to have a
more diverse style of hoop. But at the same time,
when they just give the ball to Brunson, it fucking works.
Speaker 5 (34:06):
There's a reason why he was doing it.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
He's good. It's very good.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Cat.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
Cat looks MOPy at times. I sure to know his
role at times. Mitchell Robinson's back. Now, Josh Hart has
nerve damage in his hand. We don't know how long
that's gonna last on his shooting. But to me, the
reason why the Knicks with the Knicks not only because
Jalen Brunson is very good in cat but Josh Hart
to me, was an X factor. Yeah, and him coming
off the bench changes things not only for them as
(34:31):
a group, but him individually and if he's not himself,
he made a home there because he became the heart
and soul that team. He's shooting forty plus from three
in the playoffs, not gonna like triple doubles. His conference
looks very shaky in the Indiana series.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
I need Jordan now because they added some depth.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Now.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
I need Jordan Clarkson to get comfortable in the offense
because if he get comfortable, it's gonna be a problem.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
It is, But I don't know if I like him
there right now the way it's looking.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
What what are you not enjoying about?
Speaker 2 (35:02):
I think he's a great bench guy off the like
off the bench for you score. I don't know if
he fits Mike Brown. He's not the same campaign place,
you know what I'm saying, Like he's not Malik Monk
and in that system, he just don't look like he's
been playing in Utah. He's gonna take some time to
adapt and adjust to playing their style of play, I think,
(35:24):
But right now it's like I expect a little more
from him off the bench, but it's like it's just
not happening yet. But I expected from them overall, like
the whole group more, and it's still like when I
watched that Bulls loss, I was like, this is not
is not it?
Speaker 1 (35:39):
This is it?
Speaker 2 (35:40):
Well, they split, they got the second win. If they
lost again, they reversed their fortunes.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
And then last night they also won again, So got
a nice little two game streak going to get. You know,
the Knicks fans.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
The play six is tonight, so.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
That'll be and that'll be a tough back to back.
You know that the guys built an excuse.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Are they playing in New York or in Philly?
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Built an excuse to not have the energy. But I
think the Knicks are gonna be fine. I really do.
I think the main problem is that they don't guard
in the regular season, and we saw in the playoffs
last year that Og played way better on defense. Mitch
ended up coming back. Everybody was Bridges, Actually, Yo, Bridges.
(36:33):
At certain points in the regular season last year, I
was like, Yo, this is not the same dude from Phoenix.
He's just getting cooked all day.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
But his shot also looked different in the beginning of
yeah ye, like he's changed the shot for a second.
And then in the.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Playoffs, especially against Boston, like I was like, Okay, you
guys didn't forget how to play defense. I think they're
doing the same he made.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
He made some key stops. Mckel played well in that. Seriously,
w's why he got that extension. I don't think they're
gonna be fine, bro, What is your definition of fine
for them? Because I think the expectation is top three seed,
like top.
Speaker 5 (37:06):
I think they can get in the top three.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Still, I think fine just means they develop a more
diverse way to play offensive basketball that isn't just the
boring station and station tip shit, and then just bring
your playoff nohow, and like actually play hard on defense
in the playoffs because right now in the regular season
(37:30):
I'm not seeing the fire and desire on defense at all.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Trust that's one thing I said that might keep them
afloat because the East is so open. But again, what
if they're they don't adapt to Mike Brown system. But
if they're not good playing that style, but.
Speaker 5 (37:48):
They just don't have you saying they just think equipped
to do it.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
But they got the talent, they got the talent, they'll
figure it out. Trust me, when you got that type
of talent, they'll figure it out. You hope, I think
they will.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Think.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
I think in the conference championship, I.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
Think they're one injury away from being in the bottom half.
Like there'll be five to six seeds I'm saying, like,
which is not fine to me from New York. Yeah,
I mean even even if expectations top three, I still
think they are the before five. But they're one injury
away from being a playing team. What if J goes
down for a month, you still got, like Cat O, Michael,
(38:29):
you got guys that I don't care.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
I don't even four weeks. They're deeper than everybody.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
J just a month.
Speaker 2 (38:38):
Last year they stayed afloat that happens.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
This year, it's not happening. Danny Green very pessimistic on
the Knicks, right.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
I thought I expected more, but what I'm seeing is
just not. I know, early in the seas, but I'm
not liking.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
What And you know, so funny about last year. Everybody
assumed they would be an adjustment period for Cat to
come onto the team, but because they basically didn't change
anything about how they played, Kat was just adding production
to the Jalen Brunton system, and so the offense was
way better than people thought it would be, and so
(39:17):
everybody's like, oh, it's fine, and then the playoff coming
is just like, Bro, you can't ask Jalen Brunton to
do all of this on every possession. You gotta set
his own shout up every possession. So I do think
they got to stay the course and like try to
develop a new style.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Yeah again, we'll see. I hope they do. The city
needs it, the city's expecting it.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
Yeah right now.
Speaker 5 (39:39):
Trust I'm in contact a lot of Nick fans.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
Mike Brown is.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
So quick.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
But yeah, things don't go well, they're gonna be asking
for you know, I'm hoping Mike Brown does well, but
they're gonna be looking at him by Christmas.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
Like no, no, he can no, don't go well and
city got no patience.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
Listen, man, we new day, were in a new day,
were in a new day.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
It's a bigger and better thing.
Speaker 5 (40:05):
Yeah, let's run down the standings.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
Some highlights from the standings, Ok, se seven and zero
again no surprise again.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
Also the schedule of who they played. I think they
might have They had some tough close overtime games. But
I didn't see anybody in that that schedule that was
like threatening to give them a lot, like they've played Indiana, Washington.
You know, I'm trying to think most is a part
of that schedule. But no, they're starting off very well.
(40:36):
Now Spurs and Bulls were end up taking it first loss, but.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
But still they're more surprised at the second seed in
the West. Again, we get it, small sample size early days,
but I think even the most optimistic Spurs fans didn't
think they was gonna beat Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard's record. Yeah,
being fins for start to the season. Wenb he had
(41:05):
his first bad game of the year. Nine points, non rebounds,
thirty four minutes, shocking.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Still have four blocks, still have four blocks. But Castle
had a good night. Harper, Dylan Harper is gonna be
out for a couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (41:16):
This needs to be a prize pick. I guarantee you
this needs to be a wager on prize pick that
he won't have a game this bad for the.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
Yeah, he probably won't have another nine to less than
nine points and less have less than nine points.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
Less than you guys are listeners get us odds on
that with over thirty minutes play. Come on, yeah, come on,
that's not not happening.
Speaker 2 (41:39):
Played well, they Phoenix played well.
Speaker 5 (41:42):
Devin Booker had probably his best game of the season.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
Big win for them. It's always it's always fun to
break somebody's winning.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
Streak, you know.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
I mean, they've been playing well. I just take the
loss as them kind of laying the egg like they
were down twenty. Phoenix is a solid team, but they're
not that good of a team, so it's just more
san Antonio kind of is like losing some energy and
just having a bad night more so than and Phoenix
having a like combination of both.
Speaker 1 (42:05):
Yeah, okay, now we got to get into less happy.
Speaker 2 (42:12):
Almost the how many nights like this? Oh, you have
to be in an MVP conversation again.
Speaker 5 (42:18):
You just don't expect eighty two games. I don't think
he has not hit the double digits.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
He might have. Yeah, he won't have another game like this,
but he can have bad games for him, which is
like sixteen and seven he could have maybe he can.
He also have like three blocks. He can probably have
at eighty two, could probably have like ten games.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
I think for me, I don't I don't think games.
Speaker 2 (42:44):
Like this, No, not like this, none like this, none
like this, none like he have two games like he
had two or three games like seventeen. But I'm saying
sixteen and sixteen and nine is a bad game because
he averages thirty and fifteen. So if he has fifteen
half of it sixteen in seats, that's a bad night.
He could probably have ten of those nights, nights like this.
(43:04):
You gonna have like three of these nights. You gonna
have like three in the season. I think if he
he's not gonna have him But how many singles you have?
But how many are allowed in m VP conversation season?
Maybe three?
Speaker 1 (43:18):
He If he continues to have the super high usage
that he's got currently and he's playing so efficiently on offense, I.
Speaker 2 (43:26):
Think he's gonna keep keep it fright. He'll be fine.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
Pelicans own six. They've lost my thirty. I think three
times there's trouble brewing thirty.
Speaker 5 (43:36):
There's trouble brewing over there own six.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
The Nets own seven, both still looking for their first
wins of this season. I feel like you guys have
played on some damn strong teams.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
Yeah, I've been fortunate enough to not have you ever
started a year like this? I started owing two. That's it.
Speaker 1 (43:57):
What was your What was your worst season in the NBA?
Speaker 2 (44:00):
Maybe oh and two oh and three worst season.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Like over the course of a season.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
Mm hmm, that is a good question, bro. What was
y'all were very lucky, probably like.
Speaker 3 (44:14):
Thirty thirty something thirty three wins.
Speaker 1 (44:18):
I don't think think I lost.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
I never when I was playing as a star, I
never lost less than thirty games. I mean I never,
like you know what I'm saying. It wasn't in the
twenties or oh to seven.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
Yeah, I don't think either one of these teams are
gonna get into the thirties.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
Crazy enough, Robin on some lucky ass like some really
good teams. I don't think I got less than like
forty eight, Like damn, like most of our season in
Santurno fifty one season, yea, even in Philly we had
so maybe Philly we had one. Like, but you're still
like top two, three seed, which is like forty eight fifty,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (44:53):
Like, damn, you don't even know what it's like to
be on a team where not NBA your next, you next,
your next win is nowhere in sight. Damn, Like you
don't even know how or when you're gonna win again.
Speaker 2 (45:10):
At this point, it's like those guys is in the
locker room, like when you start off, oh for six,
oh for seven, Like what's I'm just trying to remember
that Detroit year where they were just they were like
over twenty like like they celebrated. It's getting that one
win off their back when they're like one in twenty
one and seven one and twenty three or something something
crazy like that.
Speaker 3 (45:28):
It's just a different mindset now because guys be like, man,
we you know, we ain't all that good, but they
make it bank.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
Yeah, and then talking to Norman's in a pick up
in a messed up situation because they can't even if
they tank that pick Yeah.
Speaker 1 (45:44):
They gave it away and gave it.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
If I started off all six on the seven, I'm
gonna go out there and buy me something nice.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
Just to feel better about yourself.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
Better'na give me to change the mood.
Speaker 3 (45:56):
Give me something.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
I got a car or something with a new crib.
Speaker 3 (46:01):
Something, Hold on, man, let me go give me something
just so I.
Speaker 1 (46:03):
Know, because that's miserable.
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Because but Brooklyn got some things to look for, like
lottery wise, they can look forward.
Speaker 5 (46:09):
Yeah, but the guys on the team don't care about
the lottery.
Speaker 2 (46:13):
You know, they're still trying to groom the young guys,
trying to get paid, you know, like they're guys that
still have goals for themselves.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
And then just.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
So again, So the question is, if you're in the
locker room like this, what are you saying to the
team to turn it around.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
If I'm the guy, I'm like, we just gotta not
look at the record. We gotta take this one game
at a time. Get off the one. We have to
get off the snow in our practice. We gotta practice,
you know, we can't.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
Teams don't practice.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
They don't practice.
Speaker 2 (46:44):
Those teams gotta practice, and you gotta approach. We gotta practice.
Speaker 3 (46:48):
We gotta practice. I'm telling the coach, we gotta practice.
We can't afford to be out here. We're doing walkthroughs,
got you. We gotta get off this now. This is embarrassing,
you know, not only to me, my family. My friends
are French, Like, come on, dog, if I got any
kind of pride about myself and about this team, it's
gonna be it's gonna be somebody. It's gonna be pissed
off play coming up.
Speaker 1 (47:10):
Yeah, and the Nets. The Nets have been good enough
to build up a decent enough fan base, and people
go to their games in New Orleans. If they're bad,
nobody's going to those damn games. They're so far down
to pecking order in terms behind the Saints and l
s U football in that area. And so if you're
(47:30):
just putting our own six product, now you're playing an
empty gyms, miserable.
Speaker 3 (47:36):
Man, it's gonna be damn near a fighting practice or something.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
All right, now, I like this.
Speaker 1 (47:44):
Let's get to our Picks of the Night, presented by
Prize Picks, and we got a pretty good lineup for
you guys. So let's get right into it. Philly at Chicago.
Speaker 2 (47:56):
Interesting fact, I don't think Joel's ever lost at Chicago.
Speaker 5 (48:00):
He's never lost in Chicago.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
Last time I was there, lest my scene. I don't
think he's ever lost to the Chicago boats at Chicago.
Speaker 1 (48:06):
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
So for his his more or less is eighteen and
a half. I'm gonna say more more. I think he's bumped.
He's getting twenty five. Man, he might get twenty five
third and he always plays well in Chicago, Tyers Max.
He got twenty seven and a half. Now that's the
tricky one. More he had twenty six and twenty six.
I think last two nights he's gonna get a thirty
balls again. Is it more or less twenty seven and
(48:28):
a half.
Speaker 1 (48:29):
I'm going less, going less again. I'm riding to the streak.
He's gonna play well, but he's not gonna drop thirty.
Speaker 3 (48:36):
Chicago the young team, they get lost on defense. I'm
going more.
Speaker 2 (48:40):
I'm gonna go more, more for Time, go more for Joelle.
Speaker 1 (48:43):
I'm actually going more for Joel too. I learned my lesson.
I'm not realizingough.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Though minutes eighteen a half is still like a tricky situation.
Speaker 1 (48:52):
He got twenty the last couple well, but he's he's
gotten up to twenty five minutes.
Speaker 3 (48:56):
He's the minutes are ramping up.
Speaker 2 (48:58):
Yeah, that's more so what I'm uh looking at. Yes,
they make it twenty seven minutes, which more chances.
Speaker 1 (49:05):
I'm gonna go.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
I'm gonna go more for Joel and b We'll go
more and more.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Okay, so you we had more, you only want that
did less for Tyres. Yes, everybody else is more for yes,
Joel and tyres Son. Uh huh, okay, so they happened
in the last two years. I think. Okay, so Joel
has lost since.
Speaker 1 (49:27):
Twenty twenty three. When did you leave Philly.
Speaker 2 (49:29):
Twenty twenty three?
Speaker 3 (49:30):
A you?
Speaker 2 (49:31):
Uh, I'm gonna go they they both got good records.
They're both gonna be like five sixty one.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
I think I'm gonna pick the Sixers Sixers to win this.
Speaker 2 (49:44):
Yeah, I'm gonna go Philly. I'm gonna go Philly. I'm
gonna go Philly, Chicago and balling. Is Kobe White coming back?
Kobe White's coming back taking shot.
Speaker 1 (49:53):
Down at home shown at home.
Speaker 2 (49:55):
If Kobe White is coming back, then I might, But
I don't know. If Kobe they fast, they fast. Yeah,
they just getting put up put up numbers.
Speaker 3 (50:03):
Oh wait wait wait, I'm changing minds. I'm changing minds.
I'm going less. I'm going less for Maxie okay and
more for him. B Yeah, he gonna have to play
some defense.
Speaker 1 (50:12):
Yeah, that's gonna wear him out.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
He's gonna, dude, you gonna have to play some defense.
Speaker 2 (50:16):
They guard him.
Speaker 3 (50:17):
Now, you're gonna they're gonna get that switch. I'm going
less for Maxie. Less for Max, it's gonna be tired.
Speaker 1 (50:25):
Sons at the Warriors, Devin Booking more or less than
twenty eight and a half, I'm less.
Speaker 3 (50:32):
I'm going less with them.
Speaker 2 (50:33):
I'm gonna go less as well against the war Yeah,
they just had a good game. He had a good night.
They beat the Spurs.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
Thirty.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
Yeah, I mean it's only six games in.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
The Warriors. Who they got at the two guard?
Speaker 2 (50:47):
You got, they played really good basketball, bro, Switch Moody,
they got Jimmy Moody, KAMINGADM. I'm cool. I'm going less.
They're gonna throw different body place depense, smart high you guys,
I'm gonna go more.
Speaker 3 (51:00):
You know what, I just feel like when you're on
a team like Phoenix and you play against that that
that word team, who got or in that building to
be up for those games. Yeah, as a great player
up for those facts, he gonna go more.
Speaker 5 (51:13):
Jimmy Butler more or less than twenty and a half.
Speaker 3 (51:18):
Jimmy, I mean, y'all know, regular season, Jimmy be up
and down.
Speaker 2 (51:23):
Hit a miss bro. It's a hit a miss bro
regular season. But he's been playing well in Golden State,
so like he's been he's been on his he's been
back on his his you know his grind out that.
So I'm gonna I'm gonna go more. I'm gonna go more.
Speaker 3 (51:34):
I'm gonna go less on Jimmy more for me, all right,
I got it less all right.
Speaker 5 (51:40):
So just some silly season in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (51:44):
I just don't understand what we're doing with professional sports.
We're like, we're discouraging guys from celebrating and having fun.
Speaker 2 (51:52):
Yeah, so jorsmanship, man, The kids are watching, so you
gotta promote sportsmanship, right, touchdown celebration is cool, though some
of them are cool, right the kids?
Speaker 5 (52:02):
The kids are doing worse ship.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
Than this and then watching way worse things on social media,
like what they're seeing right.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
Here Joel Embiid if you don't know, he's apparently he's
a big fan of Yeah, Degeneration X wrestling, and he
did the suck it again. He's a repeat offender, so
they found him fifty thousand dollars. Do you gout? And
(52:32):
even by the way, even the throat slash bring that back? Why?
Why are we being like babies?
Speaker 2 (52:42):
So the question is who has the best most iconic
celebration in your opinion?
Speaker 1 (52:46):
Sam?
Speaker 2 (52:47):
Sam samself with the big balls.
Speaker 3 (52:51):
The one that was Agie something that was Agie though, Yeah,
you're fine for that now, you get fine for that now.
Speaker 1 (52:56):
But tumble with the finger wag like I remember that
all the time. I think this Steph Night Night is
hard to top.
Speaker 2 (53:09):
That is a good one as well. Again, I don't
know if he was the originator of that.
Speaker 1 (53:13):
Who originated that?
Speaker 2 (53:14):
They said it was a soccer dude, right or something
like that.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Oh, you allowed to steal from other leagues?
Speaker 3 (53:19):
No, I'm going with the James.
Speaker 2 (53:20):
Hard okay, ice ice trade this is cool too.
Speaker 5 (53:25):
I speaking of Jim cole Palmer from Chelsea.
Speaker 2 (53:28):
Trey got a fire one club.
Speaker 5 (53:30):
Cole Palmer said he started it because his name.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
Is cold, so he does that ice trade again.
Speaker 1 (53:37):
But Tray is like, no, I was the first. They
actually arguing over who was the first.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
To night is dope? Ice trade is dope? Joel got
a doupte one Sam Iconic game time. I'm gonna go Sam.
I am No, I'm I'm a guy as well.
Speaker 1 (53:56):
Yeah, good, all right, man.
Speaker 2 (53:59):
So we also a question. I'd never gotten fined for
a celebration. Have you ever gotten fined for a celebration?
Speaker 1 (54:05):
Have you ever been fined in your life? Wait?
Speaker 2 (54:09):
And they weren't even worth it. I wish I got
the money.
Speaker 1 (54:12):
So every technical foul is a fine?
Speaker 2 (54:14):
Absolutely how much? How much? Maybe five of my career
I had like one in my whole Spurs tenure. Then
I got like one year in trying to call the
text for anything year, I got like three that year,
and then maybe like two more. So I probably have
less than ten in my career, like maybe seven. I
feel like half of them I didn't get my money's worth.
I really wanted to Paul, You've gotten a decent amount
(54:35):
of text.
Speaker 3 (54:36):
Now, I don't think. I don't got no funds, nothing crazy.
Speaker 1 (54:41):
Nothing crazy model NBA citizens.
Speaker 3 (54:44):
Here try to be I don't remember if I did, truthfully,
I don't.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
Know, all right, So next up, man, I wanted to
get you guys on the record for our show about
all of the controversy that's been swirling around the NBA
surrounding these different gambling arrests. Uh. We know, Terry Rozier
got arrested for leegendly giving away inside information for the
(55:09):
purposes of wagering on games. Chauncey Billups is being accused
of being part of a poker ring that was defrauding
people with like all kinds of underhanded tactics and involved
with the Five Families in New York and like shit,
that sounds like straight out of a movie. This is America.
(55:30):
These folks are innocent until proven guilty. They haven't been tried,
they haven't had their day in court.
Speaker 2 (55:34):
Not everybody's America, but yeah, it should be that way.
Speaker 1 (55:38):
Well on this show. They're innocent until proven guilty.
Speaker 2 (55:44):
And it's definitely been We had Jontay Porter last year,
Blik Beasley gil but Arenas having being at a poker
situation at somebody's house.
Speaker 1 (55:58):
There's a lot of this stuff sort of around that's
been around the league, but just as sports in general,
since gambling has become legal and people want to know,
like how detrimental to the product? Do you think this
stuff is?
Speaker 2 (56:18):
Man? That's that's a tough question, bro, because gambling is
all around us and you can't avoid it. And I
don't think it's a problem in the NBA because again,
there's four to fifty every year. I think we've had
a handful of guys and some of them are retired.
One of them's coaching, like there's maybe two or three
players out of four P fifty in the last three years.
(56:39):
I don't think it's a big issue. But in the
same breath, like there's issues with more guys on social media,
like getting get into a fans over prop bets and
she's like, oh, you didn't. I think guys have more
issues with fans because of the betting, and we didn't
have that type of back and forth or that type
(56:59):
of ridicule criticism or the type of bs on social media.
But until the gambler became more like a parent, more legalized,
more worldwide, and it's just that it's all it's throwing
in your face everywhere. Now it's like if they're not
doing gambling, you're behind. So I have no issue with it.
Gamble responsibly. Has it shifted the culture since I've been playing, Yes,
(57:24):
the gambling culture is very different. Again, some guys gamble
on planes as cards, but sports gambling. I say you guys,
stay away from it. If you if you if you can,
you know you shouldn't be gambled on sports. But if
you want to gamble on cards, gamble responsibly. Make sure
it doesn't affect your households, make sure you don't you know,
lose light, you know, sleep or light bills or food
or meals and you know you can still feed your family.
(57:47):
But yeah, I don't think it's a huge issue. But yes,
certain things need to be touched up. But it's hard
to avoid. So it's it's all over the world, you know,
to say, certain guys, because this is your profession, you shouldn't.
You're not allowed to do this. It's tough, but yes,
you know, stay away from because your jobs. Stay away
from the sports games, Stay away from that sports, stay
from whatever in your city. If it's illegal to do
(58:08):
poker in that city, don't fucking do poker, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (58:11):
So, but yeah, I truly believe that gambling today amongst
like say, the players and coaches and referees all. I
think it's less now than it was before. I do.
And you know, because now there's so many outlets for it, right,
(58:34):
so it's easier to get caught, whereas before, if you
call a bookie quiet, it'd be somebody that lived in
Puero Rico or the Bahamas overseas, you know what I'm saying. So,
like it's just about the integrity of it, Like how
do you catch those guys from back in the day.
I think more people got away with yeah than you
(58:56):
can now. Yes, I truly believe that. And I don't
know one hardercent. But if you just look at it,
like these guys got caught because of the bet sizes
and you saw you talk about and then the Chauncey
Billups situation, well, I don't know, you know the situation
with that, You know that has nothing to do with Yes.
Speaker 1 (59:17):
Yes, if what they're saying is true about Chauncey, that
means he got in with a bad crowd, literally actual gangsters,
and made some bad decisions.
Speaker 3 (59:30):
I truly believe that they are. Like truly, I truly
believe that is not the ring leader.
Speaker 1 (59:36):
No he's not, he's not. It's just the NBA players.
So this FBI is addicted to publicity, like like I
never knew what who the FBI directed was before. Like ever,
this dude's on TV every single day. This cash will
tell dude. He clearly loves headlines. And so when he's
(59:57):
announcing the arrest, he's leading with the most famous people
that they rounded up, not that they're the most important,
because yes, and that's that's what that seems like to me.
But again, I don't think get that day in court.
And I think, you know, when people want to know
like that the game has integrity and what they're watching
(01:00:18):
isn't some guy screwing around with a bunch of bets,
I think. I think. I think the NBA is a
good standing in terms of integrity. And I could already
hear people in the comments whatever, oh you guys are
presented by Prize Picks. Oh you guys are shills for
the NBA, blah blah blah blah.
Speaker 5 (01:00:35):
And I would agree with what what Paul is saying.
Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
I'm like, guys like Prize Picks, DraftKings, name It, name
any one of those those companies. They're not in the
business of just being defrauded out of money that hundreds
of thousands and millions at a time.
Speaker 5 (01:00:52):
That's why these dudes are getting caught.
Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
Yeah, it's again, the technology now is easy to get caught.
So now people know that they're more paranoid to notan like,
why would there be millions?
Speaker 1 (01:01:02):
John r on what plan with mad NBA fans be
sitting at their crib like, yo, I gotta put a
John Tate port.
Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
A ticket in again. It's dumb to be on anyone
those platforms and use your personal name informat. It's just
so it's easy to get caught, and it can track,
it can find the trail, easy to so.
Speaker 1 (01:01:23):
And again, I think these are the growing pains for
all of the sports leagues. Again, it's not just the
NBA of this is a new thing that is being
integrated into the league. And I think this is this
is just part of the growing pains, honestly for sure.
And I'm personally and I don't think fans should be
worried about yo is Kad going hard enough tonight because
(01:01:46):
he has his under like bro, he's a billionaire, bro
Like he's good. Yeah, these are these are the most
I think there's another thing like people don't realize you guys,
other NBA players is some of the most competitive people
ever that these guys want to win.
Speaker 5 (01:02:06):
These guys are competitors.
Speaker 1 (01:02:08):
Like this. I did at a bunch of players in
the league. It's just like, you know, I want to
I want I want to do parlays like it just
it just it just doesn't pass the smell test for me.
All right, man, we we got another no fouls giving
ranking coming up.
Speaker 5 (01:02:28):
I think our little clip on social where I.
Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Got a lot of heat again again, m VP ranking.
Speaker 1 (01:02:39):
Right now, being married to anyone, top three, that's all
he's saying.
Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
Again, I still stand where I'm at right now. But
you know, when we had a tough game, but Denver
losing to Portland, I'm not, I can't. It can't happen.
So Portland's Portland solid chance to win the time, so
you felt und, I'm like, but you know, neither one.
He hasn't taken a leap to be like yo, I
(01:03:04):
need for sure, Like there's gonna be a point of
season where he canna be like, all right, we gotta
for sure. I gotta have him in there. God, right now,
Wemby's in there for me has been killing too.
Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
So we're ranking point guards, which as a New York
City native, it's.
Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
Crazy they don't have done up there. Donovan Mitchell's not
up there.
Speaker 5 (01:03:22):
But is he a point guard?
Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
I mean at his side, I mean, what else could
he be? He's the two they both.
Speaker 5 (01:03:30):
He definitely played point guard even in Utah they.
Speaker 1 (01:03:33):
Had Mike even healthy right now playing but Donovan Mitchell, yeah,
he's definitely doing more on ballwork.
Speaker 5 (01:03:40):
But I don't think of him as a two guard,
and I think, in fact, like you.
Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
Don't think of the two guards, I mean as a
point guard. So I'm sorry, And in fact, I think
he's elevated by doing less point guard duties and playing
next to Darius Garland. But top five point guards right now,
we got SGA. Just listen to some options. S g A, Maxie, Brunson,
(01:04:08):
LaMelo Ball, Trey Young, Jamal Murray, Steph Cad Cunningham, Darius Garland.
Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
Give us our top five first, right, all right, So
my top five I think it's pretty simple, man, s
g A. For sure, gotta beat in there. I'm gonna
put Brunson in there. For sure. I'm gonna put Kid
in there, and Steph. Then I'm gonna go. I'm gonna
put a young Tyrese Maxie in there.
Speaker 1 (01:04:34):
That's five. Five, Yeah, is not going in my five.
Speaker 3 (01:04:41):
Mine is in order.
Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
Okay, okay, okay, I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
Right in order. Top five point guards right now. S
g A is the number one point guard. The number
two point guard for me is Steph Curry the number
three point guard. I'm gonna go Brunson the number four
point guard that I'm taking today. Let's see, that's Punson
(01:05:09):
I'm gonna take today. This is I'm gonna take a Lamello. Okay,
I got him at four. Whoa because none of these
other guys have separated themselves as far as they're all young.
And then number five I'm taking I'm taking Ja Morant.
Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Okay, Ja Morant your fifth. You're taking Melo over Kate
All NBA last year.
Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
I mean, Kate had a good year last year, you
know what I'm saying. And one playoff appearance.
Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
Just loves the three, the deep threes in the crazy I.
Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
Mean, he having a good year. But I want to
pay to see LaMelo.
Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
Okay, So these are guys you're most excited.
Speaker 3 (01:05:45):
I'm not paying to go see him, no matter where
he got. I love Kate, gonna put up numbers, He's
very productive. All NBA better team. But I'm paying to
go see Mello got you, And that's why I got it,
because he's exciting.
Speaker 5 (01:05:57):
Yeah, my top five no particular order.
Speaker 1 (01:05:59):
I give an order for the top three, but definitely Shae, Steph, Brunson, Maxie,
and I'm probably going.
Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
Jimal I was an offensive.
Speaker 1 (01:06:16):
The stuff this guy has done in the postseason it's
like it's next level. Man. I like the way that
he started the year to.
Speaker 2 (01:06:26):
Its crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:06:27):
That is kind of crazy. But y'all, he's not in
my five. Give me your top three, now, top three,
Chase Steph Brunton.
Speaker 5 (01:06:40):
I'm going Brunson, I'm going Burnson.
Speaker 1 (01:06:42):
I'm going sha Stephan Brnston.
Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
So yeah, that was my right. I'm going Shay.
Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
Step And I think Kate is making a very strong
push obviously, so Maxie, Oh, I'm gonna go Shay Brunton.
Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
I'm gonna put Kate in there.
Speaker 1 (01:07:08):
Man, Katie is your third best point guard in the NBA. Yeah,
he's not better than Steph Curry. Bro.
Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
Come on, man, have you seen steph numbers?
Speaker 1 (01:07:16):
Have you have some respect for I have a lot
of respect for the chef.
Speaker 3 (01:07:20):
He don't have the same gravitational pool though.
Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:07:23):
I see Steph on a two on a two on
one break and three guys ran to him and he
threw it.
Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
For sure, Sure AT's done it. That's gonna fifteen years.
So Steph has that for fifteen years, man. But right now,
I gotta go with the younger.
Speaker 5 (01:07:39):
I just want to shovel dirt on the old head.
Speaker 2 (01:07:41):
Not at all, Man, not at all. Stephan was my
top five. I just think again, they had a down
year last year. He have twenty one twenty two. Sure
that was down. Here do you think it's gonna get
better than last year?
Speaker 5 (01:07:53):
I just think ultimately, like they don't need.
Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Him as much because he has better people around him.
Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
I go into a game Kati needed more. I have
to have a dedicated game plan for Steph Curry. That's
not the case for Kate cutting in.
Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
Shouldn't me? No, you play Detroit Pistons. Who's your game
planning for? No?
Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
I mean no, of course he's accounted for, But like me,
all five guys don't have.
Speaker 5 (01:08:16):
To be locked into what Kate is doing.
Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
Me. No, what ain't nobody stepping on the floor. K
kind of coming to that building? You don't know who
he is and what the hell? You better know how
to guard him if you don't, Why not yet?
Speaker 3 (01:08:29):
Losing sleepover k just just I'm getting he's getting I'm
losing like an hour sleep like like you know, but
I gotta get some rest, shot I gotta get I'm worried.
Speaker 2 (01:08:45):
I'm worried about Steph. I don't worry about the Golden State
team as a whole, because they're just a good system.
Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
Yeah, Detroit.
Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
The only person I'm worried about his kid cut I
ain't worry about nobody else.
Speaker 3 (01:08:55):
You you might go to dinner the night before for
k you not going to service.
Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
Maybe last year, before last year, before last year, I
would say that after last year, respect, I'm going to sleep.
I'm listening. I'm again.
Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
He's just a big cave fan.
Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
And played against him, I was like, yo, he's surprised
even when I was older by playing And then I'm
like watching what did last year?
Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
He was?
Speaker 2 (01:09:24):
He turned Detroit around. They were a non playoff, the
bottom of the bottom to being in the playoffs as
a was a sixty yeah yeah, and he was m VP.
Conversation all NBA, all like all NBA third team.
Speaker 1 (01:09:37):
I get it, but he's no.
Speaker 2 (01:09:39):
You gotta put some respect on us. I'm not saying
he is, but I put him in the top and said,
now Steph's not in his prime. Though we're not saying
Stephan is prime, I'm saying Stephan.
Speaker 5 (01:09:47):
Damn about it makes a difference, bro the prime Steph Curry.
Speaker 1 (01:09:51):
Right now, you gotta win a game for your life
Tomorrow You're picking Caid cunning In over Steph Curry right now,
that's crazy to me. That is insane to me.
Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
One game is different than overall. Even then again, Steph
got more experience depending on what the game is. Yeah,
Steph thirty seven years old. Bro, Now if it's Stephan
is prime, Stephan shore in the top three, but he's
still still I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:10:24):
Still rolling with Steph.
Speaker 3 (01:10:25):
I'm taking Steph thish. I'm gonna not next year, but
this year.
Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
I.
Speaker 3 (01:10:31):
Seek I'm gonna take Steph one last year, you.
Speaker 2 (01:10:34):
Know, I might go to take I've had a forty
ball start the season after that, what was it like, sixteen, seventeen,
twenty one.
Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
Yeah, but they don't. They don't need him to go
there like there every now.
Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
Again, he's not needed as much. Kate is needed more.
Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
That's why to me, like, hey actually got a deeper
team as far as talent wise than.
Speaker 5 (01:10:52):
Nah solinga.
Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
Buddy Heal.
Speaker 1 (01:11:02):
Dre all right this, Yeah, they're gonna they're gonna flame
you on social for this, but I'm happy about it.
Speaker 2 (01:11:09):
Respect stuff. Bro. I just think this year, I said,
and step prime stuff for sure, but I'm seeing like
not everybody everybody point guards in the history of life exactly.
Speaker 5 (01:11:22):
So of course that's better than Cade Cunning.
Speaker 2 (01:11:24):
Everybody ages Bro not everybody's Lebron. James that year twenty
three still like he went down a step last year.
I just assume he's gonna take another step down this
year again, which he's able to do because his team
is better. His team is good.
Speaker 5 (01:11:39):
No, your logic is sound. I just think I just disagree.
Speaker 1 (01:11:42):
