Who asked, what was your biggest inspiration that motivated you
to make it to where you both have made it today.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Well, I fell in love with the NBA because my
idol was Magic Johnson. Growing up growing up here in Inglewood,
idolized Magic and wanted to play basketball and do the
things he did and make it to the NBA. So
I'm a as a as a Laker fan as a
kid to becoming a Boston Celtics fan. This he was

my inspiration.

I'm gonna go with my pops first because he you know,
I was a kid you always want to be like dad.
But he introduced me to the game and he was
a fan of certain players. Come to fund. He liked
the really good teams and really good players. So growing
up it was Mike and watching Mike definitely inspire me.
And then you know, my pops pushed me. He motivated me.
And then along the way I had different people you

know that that gave me certain life of motivational inspiration
and you know, but it started with him. My high
school coach was really good. He was really good. Tim clues,
big inspiration. Then from there on it was like different
people that I played with, I played against, but I
was a fan of the game since I was a kid,
and started with Mike, and then it was different people

you know over the years.

Question though, like because you say Mike was your inspiration
and was League Pass available?

No, we had the Box TV.

Did watch Mike a lot?

No, we watched I watched the playoffs. I watched a
lot of playoffs. I mean I was in east of
New York, so Chicago's there. Yeah, I watched a lot
of We had the bulls like championship tapes, the v
vhs had all those. I had all that I have
from Chuck you watch the Space, Charles Barkley, Dave Robbs,
like all those guys that had the tapes, the highlight
tapes of you and Tim Hardaway and TMC. I used

to watch all those guys highlights VHS and then during
the season we watched a lot of regular season games,
watch some Chicago was they were television was easy.

The reason it was easy for me because we got
the local games. You know, it wasn't a lot of
every single day. Every other night we watched the Lakers,
like you know, the national games come on, so it's
hard to like really see the other teams a lot
like it is today. You can see whoever everything.

Man, my motivation is just so the people be thankful
for what you have. You know what I'm saying. People
often look at the things that they don't have and
just stress over it. Just be thankful for everything you have.
As long as you have life, friendships, and health on
your side. If you have those things, that's enough to

be thankful for. Regardless if you're rich poor, you know,
have food to eat every day. Just be thankful, you know,
for the things you have.

I second that, but I'm gonna go into a different
lane on advice for some young guys because there's a
lot of them in the league today. Don't skip the details,
you know what I'm saying. Don't skip steps, and don't
be afraid to ask questions. Listen to your vets whoever's
in the locker room for you, especially off the court.

We don't want to see any of you guys getting
in trouble. Don't give it, no money back suspensions, We
don't want to see injuries. Take care of your bodies, man,
but don't skip steps. Be a professional, get greedy with success,
and continue to grind it out because you only play
but so long, so do it for the next you know,
ten eight to ten years, for how long you can

do it, and then hopefully you can get another career
after that. You're doing what we're doing. If not, you
made enough to take care of your family. But you know,

to make it to where you both have made it today.

Well, I fell in love with the NBA because my
idol was Magic Johnson. Growing up growing up here in Inglewood,
idolized Magic and wanted to play basketball and do the
things he did and make it to the NBA. So
I'm a as a as a Laker fan as a
kid to becoming a Boston Celtics fan. This he was

my inspiration.

I'm gonna go with my pops first because he you know,
I was a kid you always want to be like dad.
But he introduced me to the game and he was
a fan of certain players. Come to fund. He liked
the really good teams and really good players. So growing
up it was Mike and watching Mike definitely inspire me.
And then you know, my pops pushed me. He motivated me.
And then along the way I had different people you

know that that gave me certain life of motivational inspiration
and you know, but it started with him. My high
school coach was really good. He was really good. Tim clues,
big inspiration. Then from there on it was like different
people that I played with, I played against, but I
was a fan of the game since I was a kid,
and started with Mike, and then it was different people

Question though, like because you say Mike was your inspiration

No, we had the Box TV.

lot of playoffs. I mean I was in east of
New York, so Chicago's there. Yeah, I watched a lot
of We had the bulls like championship tapes, the v
vhs had all those. I had all that I have
from Chuck you watch the Space, Charles Barkley, Dave Robbs,
like all those guys that had the tapes, the highlight
tapes of you and Tim Hardaway and TMC. I used

to watch all those guys highlights VHS and then during
the season we watched a lot of regular season games,
watch some Chicago was they were television was easy.

The reason it was easy for me because we got
the local games. You know, it wasn't a lot of
every single day. Every other night we watched the Lakers,
like you know, the national games come on, so it's
hard to like really see the other teams a lot
like it is today. You can see whoever everything.

the day when I was younger, me and my boys
would take boys trips and we would go like to Miami.

say Memorial.

Mount Rushmore Thanksgiving foods.

you gotta go with that gumbo. Bro, Gumbo on Thanksgiving
is popping. I don't know if y'all do it, but I.

If you was born in the seventies or before, it's
gumbo got you. So I'm gonna go there to start
mine off.

somebody I want them to put the meat. I saw
somebody complaining on the internet, like, oh, why do you
guys have meat in your great Like, bro, I need

it up, Light it up right, So Collar Greens. Definitely

the mashed potatoes. But the gravy has to be done
right now. Okay, So that's Mac Greens mashed potato.

Turkey is nobody's favorite.

It's fine. I gotta go with sweep potato pie.

think of egg at all until the holidays. Craving a

puts the meal over there.

like bro like it's fine. I don't have a problem
with it, but it's fine. Like at no no other
day of the year, you like yo, because somebody made
turkey today like that never.

A little different from what we normally do. But the
Packers will be at the Lions. The Packers won the
first game twenty seven to thirteen. Week one. They were
so dominant on defense. Detroit, Detroit, always Detroit.

I'm I think I gotta go Packers on this one.
Speaker 4 (47:32):
Beat them twice.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
Yeah. I just think that the Troy has been looking
just as like skating along kind of like. And I
think the Packers are younger and when they're healthy, they're tough.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
Yeah, give me give me the Lions at home divisional game.
They want to get some get back. I'll take the
Lions at home.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
Chiefs at the Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
Chiefs, Yeah, Chiefs.

Cowboys got a good way. It's a fine, but to
big wins, I don't see them win three.

Chiefs need this if they want to be serious about

over Billy Yeah. Always after being down and great come back.
The Chiefs got a big win versus the Calls. But

We wanted to get some veteran advice man out there
for young guys in the league. Just life advice to
the public, just a motivation of good words for the people.
It's a Thanksgiving holiday. I want to be motivationally.
Speaker 4 (48:57):
Thankful for the opportunities and everything.
Speaker 1 (48:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
Man, my motivation is just so the people be thankful
for what you have. You know what I'm saying. People
often look at the things that they don't have and
just stress over it. Just be thankful for everything you have.
As long as you have life, friendships, and health on
your side. If you have those things, that's enough to
(49:21):
be thankful for. Regardless if you're rich poor, you know,
have food to eat every day. Just be thankful, you know,
for the things you have.
Speaker 4 (49:32):
I second that, but I'm gonna go into a different
lane on advice for some young guys because there's a
lot of them in the league today. Don't skip the details,
you know what I'm saying. Don't skip steps, and don't
be afraid to ask questions. Listen to your vets whoever's
in the locker room for you, especially off the court.
(49:54):
We don't want to see any of you guys getting
in trouble. Don't give it, no money back suspensions, We
don't want to see injuries. Take care of your bodies, man,
but don't skip steps. Be a professional, get greedy with success,
and continue to grind it out because you only play
but so long, so do it for the next you know,
ten eight to ten years, for how long you can
(50:15):
do it, and then hopefully you can get another career
after that. You're doing what we're doing. If not, you
made enough to take care of your family. But you know,
don't skip the steps and the details are important, all.
