Speaker 1 (00:25):
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen to the latest edition of
No Fouls Given, presented by Prize Picks.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
I'm your co host Big.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Wise aka Wise lamb Bray, and I'm joined as always
by my god Danny Green Paul Pierce.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
We got an incredible show on the way for you guys.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Let's get right into walking them down at Eastern Conference Edition.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
The Boston Celtics. Who you just said?
Speaker 3 (00:53):
The Boston Celtics saying with your chest.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
The Boston Celtice has once seven of the last eight
and crept into third in the East. Under what circumstances
should Jason Tatum come back?
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Because they're not even at full strength yet.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Man, Listen, the Boston Celtics.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Are the only team in the NBA that stands in
front of a OKAC dynasty.
Speaker 5 (01:22):
Really this year, not this year.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Generally speaking for the next five years. The way we're built,
Chason Tatum or young Duel.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
I think they're gonna need some some size on the
big spot. You don't think you need some bigs outside.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Of God, we got big, don't We're good? You know?
Speaker 4 (01:43):
We thir in the East like we're good this small
ball league, Like, what size do we need for who.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
Okay, see hearts, don chat and they got they got wings.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
That I meant just talking about rebounding, that's all you're
talking about.
Speaker 5 (01:59):
Got a rebound that's a key man something, right.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
I know Jaylen Brown is playing like an MVP.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
I know we got championship experience and we still relatively
guys in their prime. So that's what I'm saying that
because everybody's written them off this year. Everybody's like they're
not even a playoff or a play in team. But
that's showing you like we're the only team even though
we rebuilding on the fly with the pieces because we
(02:29):
lost some big pieces per Zingis, Drew Holliday, Our Horford.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
But look, just keeping it to this year. Hayden did
that interview at the beginning of the season.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Well he was like, everybody says it's a year, but
it's not.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
It's whenever you're achilles heels and you feel strong enough
to play. Do you think Tatum should try to come
back this year?
Speaker 4 (02:56):
If Tatum can play at twenty games, I'm not talking
about before the playoffs. If you can't get twenty to
twenty five games in no, I don't think he should
come back before the playoffs. So if you say no,
he won't be ready to last two weeks a season. Now,
you know what, it's a chance you can reinjury it.
(03:17):
We'll we'll continue building like this got you?
Speaker 3 (03:20):
I love that?
Speaker 2 (03:21):
What about you, Danny?
Speaker 3 (03:22):
What do you think?
Speaker 5 (03:23):
I just say? I mean the fan of me says yes,
I want to see him. Who the player of me
says nah, not not under any circumstance that I think
he should come back. I don't think it's worth it
because even though truth here thinks that they're next up
to okay, see, well.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
They're one player away, I think they're down right now.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
I think they're more even with him back, I think
they're more than one player. It's okay, see because he's
in the building. Even he comes back, I still don't
think you win a championship or beat that team. So
is it worth him risking that to just even try
to get there? We all know those type of injury
is you feel a lot more comfortable, confident, and it's
stronger tend than the second year. So it's like, let
(04:06):
these young guys build a character. Jordan Wall, she's coming along.
Let those guys continue to build and get some character
in them. Next year, bring Jason Tatum back, get that
one player that you're away from next year, and then
y'all all in good rhythm. Now, less risk of him retairing,
because when you tell something like that, you have a
higher percentages of retearing those type of things. He's good,
(04:26):
but even if you get him, you're not beating okayc.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
This year the third in the East.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
Toronto's second in the East.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
And then say you add a healthy Jason Tatum to
the third the third best team.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
In the East.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
Right now, don't be better than Detroit.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Don't even bring that up.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
I'm just saying Detroit's not one of these right.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Yeah, we're talking about disrespect. No, I'm not dispecting Detroit.
But you're talking about Avalant Wargs. You're talking about Jason
Tatum and Jaylen Brown, a championship team that Peyton Pritcher
coach chimp like.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Get them in a playoff series. You will not put
one penny on Detroit.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
No, but I wouldn't say that. I answered the question.
I would put a penny on Detroit. I'm not respector
I think they would put be a good series, but
I still think they would have their handsful playing in
a New York series. Even that Boston they had a
good loaded dream when.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
They lost difficult Detroit for me maybe.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
So again I don't respect Detroit. I think Detroit will
give a lot of it's up in there in the East.
I feel like Detroit is a different team than with
the Knicks play last year, and I think that matchup
would be very different if they matched up again. It's
all on matchups, but I think there are more than
just one player outside of Jay's him. I think they
might be one player with without like outside of him.
But again I think he should just take the year
(05:41):
and really focus on just getting that confidence and that
Tendon strong for the following year because that's when you
really could make a run at Because I don't think
they thought they would be this good, Like we didn't think.
I didn't think they were gonna be bad, but nobody
thought that would be thirty be a playoff team. But them,
they're like they're finding gold and some play is that
they didn't like, oh, number one offense in the East.
(06:02):
Right now, you know, we got young kids playing really
good defense. We're able to hoop, We're able to beat
the next without guys I was like, we didn't think
we didn't make these moves to win a championship. So
they know that that their roster is good but not
good enough. So you let him recover to win a
championship this year.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
I think they're not gonna win the championship. This is
constructed this.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
Year, not this year. So I think you let him
and then construct it this offseason to where you can
make that push for next year.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
That's where I think I'm kind of with Danny. I
like you guy, well like Danny anyway, I was very
down on the team coming into this season. I just
thought they shed so many of their important players, you know,
Kris Stabs, Horford, even on Cornett, you.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Know what I mean, all of those guys.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
I thought it was disappointing that they let so many
guys walk away. But at the same time, watching what
they're doing this year, I think it's proven that the Celtics,
Joe Missoula, Brad Stevens have developed a culture, a winning
sort of championship, DNA and pedigree, and it's just showing.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
This season is definitely shown, you know.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
And so I would as much as I would love
to see Tatum come back this year, I think doing
it full off season knowing that you're gonna have Tatum back.
They shed so much salary and clean their books, and
I think they're gonna do even I think Housers not
really long for the team.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
I think they're gonna clean the books a little bit more.
But you clean your books, you get a roster.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Knowing that you're gonna have both Tatum and Brown in
their next season.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
I'd be really excited to watch that, even.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Though I feel like we did get robbed of seeing
these guys play.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Okay, see in the finals last year, I thought they
would win that finals. Honestly, last year.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
I thought Boston was gonna win the championship all year
until they didn't. And so yeah, I think Tatum should
wait till till the next season.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
Give credit to the next though, because even if Tatum
didn't get hurt, I think they still would wait.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
So the k next I think shock a lot of people.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
And that's yeah, the Knicks still would have won. We
gave up to twenty point leagues. Yeah, that's like you
got beduck.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
And that's the that's the fatigue factor of going to
the finals so.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Many years, final conference finals.
Speaker 5 (08:08):
Every they take them playing Olympics like guys Derk White
playing Olympics. Drew and Olympics like the fatigue not just mental,
not just physical, but mental and emotional fatigue that sets it.
It's hard to go back to back, regardless of how
good you are. So yeah, but no, they rolling right now, bro,
get them a lot of love. They hoop and they
beat up on the next I want to say, your beloved,
(08:29):
but beat up on the next they bully the Jalen
Brunton and Company. This episode is brought to you by
Prize Picks. It is the holiday season, best time of
the year for sports, bowl games, basketball matchups, playoff pushes.
It's all happening at once. And while you and I

where it feels good to be right Prize Picks. Baby.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
I love how simple it is to play and win
on Prize Picks. Jalen Brunton, Steph Curry, Tyrese Maxi, more threes,
more points, more cysts.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
These guys are hooping.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
I love that you could also create a lineup and
mix and match sports.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
If I'm feeling a little spicy.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
I will add some football picks to the lineup as well.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Love sprinkling in a little pooking the cool action.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
With my Hoopers.
Speaker 5 (09:14):

off to a hot start, you may not have the

Speaker 5 (09:44):
It's good to be right.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Speaking of the Knicks, they finally beat the Orlando Magic
in a super close game. Franz Wagner ended up leaving,
although Pollos now back, which he just sucks for the Magic.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
They keep going from.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
You know, I have last year.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
Injury, the injury, but we don't know. We will find
out tomorrow. With his knee is a bad kneed. He
fell on his knee. I don't hope there's no major
tendons or anything, but he came down ugly and it
was a bad leg injury. I don't know if his
knee or what, but we will find out tomorrow. I'm
sure Sean's gonna report it.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
So the Knicks are on a three game winning streak.
They're now sixteen to seven. They're number two in the
Eastern Conference. They play the Raptors next up in the
NBA Cup. Just a couple of questions for you guys.
Can they keep it going and then beat Orlando or
Miami to go to the Cup Championship.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
I think they're very capable. They can keep it going.
I think they have a chance at beating Toronto more
than beating Orlando Miami. Those teams play really fast, like well,
Miami plays fast Orlando. I don't know if they're gonna
beat Miami. Now with Franz being out, Polo just came
back there in rhythm. I could see the Knicks probably
advancing past Toronto Miami though, if they have everybody healthy,
(10:58):
which I think Tyler Herro will be back, and the
way Norman's playing and Bamon shooting threes, he's taking four
to six attempts now hitting like two or three a game,
hit five the other night. If he's playing like that
and Norman's getting buckets like that and Tyler herroll, you
know he can do and how fast they're playing. They
also have deep bench with fantek Yo Jovich, Hami Hakkas.
I don't know if you're gonna beat that Miami team.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
So another question is do you do we think the
team is starting to geil You know, because there was
basically NBA Finals level expectations on this team in the preseason.
They've had a couple of injuries, important guys in and
out of lineup, whether it be bruntson og Kat Cat
was out in this previous game. Do you think they're
(11:42):
starting to show the signs of the team that people
expected this preseason part?
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Yeah, I think the glue guy is in any like
regardless of what Bronson gives you and Cat. We saw
when the NNOB was out, they lost a lot of
like defensive presence.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Yes, they did.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Toughness a guy us verse to that can grow guard
multiple positions.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
He's good at fods, he's good at tunes.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
Yeah, he's definitely. That showed me that he's the glue guy.
So if they're healthy, I think that the Knicks are
probably the best team in the East healthy wise.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
Yeah, roster, looking at the roster, Yeah, after watching tonight,
I'm a little down on Philly. I'm not seeing it
even if they were healthy, I just don't see it
from them. They have a lot of talent, you look
at the roster, but looking at the guys tonight, they
just don't look like themselves. But yeah, they still they're gelling,
but they're still having in that lineup issues. Kat was
out tonight. To me, their X factors are Josh Hart
(12:41):
and Mitchell Robinson and how Mike Brown is gonna play
them lineup wise. If Josh Hart is not in, that's
starting to line up. I think it takes away a
lot from him, which takes away a lot of heart
and soul of their Like he's the triple double guy.
Not that he gets triple doubles, but he does a
lot of those category things that helps the team win.
One night, they'll give you a bunch of rebounds and
one night he might score for you. One night he
(13:01):
might shoot forty from three. He hit like three or four.
Three is if he's not in that rhythm. That's gonna
hurt a lot of what they do and miss Robinson again,
his rebounding, his effect on the glass and protecting rim.
If those two guys are not fully healthy or in rhythm,
I think that hurts you more than anything. I say,
Og is great to have a cat. They need to
have more minutes of everybody healthy. I don't know what
(13:23):
it is. For some reason again, like Orlando, one guy in,
one guy out, Nix have kind of had that similar
situation to me.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
What makes the Knicks when they're playing their best or
when they were in the postseason last year. It's particularly
in that Boston series, it's Og is looking for a
shot and so is Michel. Like those two guys have
to be aggressive on offense to sort of be a
pressure release valve for Brunton, who we know in the
playoffs he's just gonna carry a big load and they're
(13:51):
getting stops, and Josh Hart is a part of that.
Crashing the boards oftentimes, like drawing the basically headedest snake
assignment of guarding the primary ball handler on other teams.
Those are the big things for me, and I think
that's Mike Brown and his staff's biggest job is to
make sure he's incorporating the non you know, brunt sing
(14:11):
and cat guys to make them feel like they have
ownership of the lineup two man.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
Every holiday season, I lie to myself, I'm like, this year,
I'm gonna be thoughtful, I'm gonna plan ahead, and then boom,
before I know it, it's December twenty third and I'm
standing in line buying a gift card like a rookie.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
That's a turnover waiting to happen exactly.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
But this year I actually ran to play correctly, no panic,
no last second heave. I gave an aura frame and
let me tell you that's a slam dunk gift right there.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
For real.
Speaker 1 (14:44):

the hardest to buy for? You know everything about them
except with the rap. But everybody's got photos.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
They love you.
Speaker 1 (14:54):

And as we.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Continue on Man we keep walking them down, but this
time on the Western Conference Okay, you know, this is
a fun show for me today because we're highlighting the
Knicks and doing well, and then you got the Lakers
coming off of.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
A big one. The Lakers continue to roll, Paul.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Yeah, they beat They beat Philly one twelve, one oh
eight in a close matchup in Philly.
Speaker 5 (16:41):
First time in seven first time in seven years they
have lost there since they have won there since twenty seventeen,
which is great.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Wow, that's pretty insane.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Lebron came back from missing the game on Friday, and
Luca came back from Slovenia where he was there to
attend the birth of his second child.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
All the Lakers starters could grasp the.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
Luca another charter, right, another girl.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
All the Lakers starters on double figures this game. Not
a lot of contribution from the bench.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Fun fact.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
In spite of all of the injuries, the Lakers have sustained,
from Luca.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
To Austin to Bron.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
They've yet to lose back to back games this season.
But it does beg the question. They do seem to
be very reliant on their big three, which is Austin,
Luca and Bron to basically take them home.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Do we think the Lakers have enough depth this season.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
Another that the question is the enough depth for what,
because I don't think anybody has enough death outside of
Denver to play with OKC. But I think the fact
that they've able to win games, they've proven they have
enough depth to beat certain groups. If the matchups are right,
they can get pretty far in the playoffs. You know,
bron tonight showed that, you know, he still got a
little left in the tank. He can score when when necessary,
(17:55):
when needed, he can get hot. He can get you
a couple of games in the series Austin struggle to night.
He didn't get to free line. Philly did a great
job of not fouling him. He did, oh he didn't
get to the free line.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Practice with foul baton because they practiced Joe and.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
Joel. Joe didn't look like himself tonight. Is why I said,
after watching tonight, I'm like, if Joel is gonna play
like that, even if they're fully healthy at end of
the season, He's not on minut restriction. The way he
was moving and just his his lateral movement, and not
even just that, it's just how he was.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
He was.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
I never thought I'd see Joe I'll be like a
role player. He just I want to say he shot
twenty one times. He was four for twenty one, shot terribly,
but it looked like the shots he took he didn't
want to take them. He's taking the ball dh O
into Edgecombe Jared mccam like he's catching and looking like
he's playing like a like playing like Drummond or like
a Dwight Howe roll. I'm saying, like the top of
the key, just Dho usually he's in the paint in
(18:48):
the middle of Dennis to a step back into his
rhythm like he and it might take time. He might
get there at end of the season, but he's fully
taking a backseat and allowing everybody else to kind of
he's just trying to fit in, and it doesn't look
good on him, Like he's just trying to like, oh,
Tyres is just show all right? Edge callb M like Paul.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Let's stay on that.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Because early on in the season we said that Joelle
does need to take a sort of a little bit
of a step back from what we've known him to
do in his MVP role, and I guess what Danny's
saying is like he's clearly not good at that, yet
he's not comfortable with it.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
He hasn't been that type of player for a decade.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
Yeah, So, like, how does a guy who's used to
being a star MVP candidate, you know, receiving his role
but also still like dominate when the time comes.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
I get it's like a mindset kind of thing.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Yeah, I think you know when a guy like I've
been in that role where it's like, all right, my
role gets down. Granted, you know, when you're a number
one option for so long, it's mentally challenged because you
only know one way. Like for me, I play like
the number one role from pretty much eleven right.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
All the way, like my eleven twelve year.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
League being the number one you know what I'm saying. So,
like when it came like you gotta take a little
step back at the first.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
It's like what I do that?
Speaker 3 (20:18):
How do I do that? You know?
Speaker 4 (20:21):
So I understand that it's an adjustment pek period for you,
not only like with your game and mentally, but then
you gotta like, all right, I gotta find now, Like
for me, okay, now instead of getting the balls pulling up,
I gotta run to the corner and get my three
but I gotta you know, you gotta aproach, you gotta
adjust your game. And that's what NB has to start
(20:43):
finding out. How can they ad just this game to
feel in with the other guys to where he can
still be a fact.
Speaker 5 (20:49):
I think again, that's it. I've never been that position,
so I don't know. I mean in high school, I've
been the guy. But for me, I think, yeah, take
the step back. But he's taking too far a step back.
What I'm saying, they only need you to take like
half a step, Like he's taking two steps back and
deferring to guys Tyra is one thing. Everybody else nah,
(21:09):
Like you don't need to defer threat to jar. Yeah,
you should very much put pressure on DeAndre a in
the defense and making them double team and trap you.
Tonight that he had Austin Reeves in the post, and like,
I don't think they even they were like stay home,
saying like at the end of the game.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
A sort of high mid post and.
Speaker 5 (21:29):
Everybody's like double kind of they was like the kind
of game he's happen right now, y'all should just stay here.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Didn't and he kind of just did a move.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
He created some space and obviously he's gonna shoot over
Austin Reeves, but he created a thirteen foot jump shot
against Austin Reeves, which.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
Anybody would live with. Regular Joel is gonna get it.
Put him in the rim or get a fast He's
definitely getting a bucket. He wasn't settling, and he just
looked more assertive and aggressive and more days tonight he
didn't look like that. And I think he has to
find a healthy balance, and it's not two steps back,
either half a step or one step and not defer
to everybody and just be a pick like what I'm saying,
(22:04):
DHL guy, only with Tyree you should be deferred to all.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
Everything that you too are saying is absolutely correct. But
maybe his body allowed you don't feel no more, you
know what I'm saying. Think about how many knee surgeries
and how much time he didn't set out in and
out has he is?
Speaker 3 (22:24):
He in shape, He.
Speaker 5 (22:25):
Don't look heavy. He don't look like game shape. He
don't look at basketball shape, but he don't look heavy.
You could probably define you get a little more definition
and weight room and intend it and probably get some
more minutes up and down the court, which will help him.
So hopefully, by by February because right now, if he
stays trending in this direction, I don't have a lot
of faith.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Before you go, people gotta understand league in shape is
a different type in shape.
Speaker 5 (22:48):
You're superstar in shape too.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
You don't do.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
Nothing for two weeks, you could be out of shape.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Like you get out there. It's high level sprinting.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
I mean, it's high level getting through screens like NBA
like like you could run a whole marathon and not
be an NBA shait for sure.
Speaker 5 (23:04):
Again, Luca out for only two three days to see
the brother of a child, and he looked rusty tonight.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
So one of the cool things about this game, this
Laker Philly game, was that Paul George, Joel, Embii, Tyre,
Smacksy Luca, Luca, doncic Lebron James, and Austin Reeves all played.
Speaker 5 (23:26):
In this game, everybody starting. The only person if you were.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
A Philly fan and you paid your harder money to
watch this game tonight, you actually got to see six
NBA stars.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Danny Man Like, I'm interested to hear you because you
know Joelle you played with him, so you're looking for
different things when you're watching Philly because you're just so
used to seeing how he moves through space on an
NBA course, so you can see different things.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
What did you see from Lebron tonight?
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Because I think we all can agree he's had a
slower start.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
I'm watching guys in.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Mainstream media basically be like Lebron is cooked, Lebron is dead,
the King.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Is dead, blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
He had a big game tonight, but like the way
the game was a big.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Game, it's different for Lebron's standards.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
I'll never say he's cooked, but as you would say,
he's kind of he's showing he's a little coming over
the hill, yeah type of thing, just by his body.
He had a great game tonight, shot it well, got hot.
And if it's gonna take for him to take a
rest day every time for him to feel fresh, like
they probably need to send him back to backs, which
is fine, but throughout the season, I feel like it's
gonna wear on him some if he has to continue
(24:38):
to do this that they have bodies in and out.
Luckily everybody was healthy Knight except for Marcus Smart. But yeah, man,
I just don't see him making to year twenty four,
Like I think this is it and we need to
appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
You think this is the last year. Danny Green is
putting that down.
Speaker 5 (24:53):
And then I think this is the last year of
Lebron James. I don't think we see year twenty four.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Damn.
Speaker 5 (24:59):
He played well tonights and he got hot. I think
he'll have a good amount of game, like a good
amount of games, but not a lot like last year.
He's not gonna be as dominant. He's not gonna be
as you could just tell about it. He's gonna have to
rely a lot on his freshness and his jumper.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Damn.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
And we normal Lebron. We know he relies on his
transition against the basket. He's not. He got some tonight,
but he's not gonna do it as fluent or as
easy as he was in the past of running the floor,
agating easy dunk or lambs or yea, you know, pick sixes.
He'll get a pick six dunk. We're not going to
see that as much anymore. It's gonna be more of
like him in the mid post waiting for double team
finding guys or midpost turn around fade and if his
(25:36):
legs are good that night, he'll hit it. But if
it's not, and you could just tell his body is
like he's he looked like he's he's not gonna want
to go through another summer of training and doing a
preseason again for next year. So I just don't see
a season twenty four happening.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
What do you think?
Speaker 5 (25:54):
I mean?
Speaker 4 (25:56):
It can go one or two ways with Lebron, because
if Lebron, like if you're expecting him to be the
Lebron of last year, yeah, then I get it. And
if he wants to be that and he says he
can't be that, I get what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
But he can play.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
Five more years like this because you have Luca and
Austin who Austin who was taking on it when Luca's
out averaging forty points. Yeah, so he can be like
I could play the Draymond greenbro again.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
So the question is is he willing to take lesser
of a pay and he look is he willing to
be a shell of himself for the next two or
three years, because he's gonna be if you mix it
through a season comes back for more more years we
were seeing a decline. Is he gonna be okay with
leaving this game as you know, a shell of a
shell of himself. Like I don't see that. I see
him want to leave at a pretty good like comfortable,
(26:49):
like I had a good year. I'm cool. I don't
need to prove anything.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
I think it all depends on the playoff run. Say
that he plays like this, but they go to the
finals win, are lose. He's like, oh, okay, I can
play this third fiddle, being a utility guy, getting eleven assists,
a nine rebounds, fifteen points and it's effect that we
got to the finals like that, you know what I'm saying.
(27:12):
But we've never seen the superstars caliber take that role
and accept that role either.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
I think Danny brings up a good point because if
people remember the offseason and all the drama that was
surrounding the Lakers and the weird Rich Paul statement that
he put out and all of this stuff that was
kind of in the air, Basically it's because he wanted
an extension and the Lakers were like, no, we're not
giving you a max contract extension. You're forty eight years old,
(27:42):
right and so and so I think if Lebron is
willing to take a contract that is commensurate to what
he provides now twenty five years into your career, then
it's completely fine. It's just to me, it's just a
matter of his Lebron is willing to face reality. Cause
again for me not to get into this argument about
(28:04):
Lebron's decline, it I just think, like Lebron, when he's
making his jump shot, he can really hurt you. Yeah,
twelve years ago, if Lebron wasn't making his jump shot,
he could still hurt you. He's getting to the line
fifteen times, he's drawn all content help. He's finding people
like now, defenses are content to just switch a center
(28:25):
onto him, give him mad space and be like, if
you get to the basket, we're giving a great contest.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
Or just shoot a jump shot.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
And smaller guys are like, bro, you're not getting past me,
no shot. I'm in your grill, you're not driving, you're
not fast enough anymore. Right, So he needs some type
of respect on the jumper so that he could create
some kind of lanes for himself when bigger guys are
coming at him.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
And this, this, that and the third.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
So I mean to me, if Lebron is willing to
accept that he's not as good as he once was.
He can still help a team. I agree with him,
but like we've seen people not wanted.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
For sure again, I think he expects more of himself
and except as in his interviews he said, they asked him,
how much longer can you play at this level? You know?
Probably another five years? But I think after seeing this year,
he's like, but he needed tonight, you know, everybody needs
not that he needs confidence. I mean he needed tonight
to prove himself that he can still do it in
a certain type of fashion. But I think he knows
(29:24):
another five years of being at that high level elite,
now can he do it at like a different level,
like a Draymond Roll cool, but at a Lebron James
level we've known to see that's not happening on That's.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Hard because he ain't been back that long. He not
even Lebron's shaped.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
Remember what we said a few weeks ago, twenty five
games will tell a lot, yeah about a team, about
a player.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Yeah, you know what I'm saying. He's only played with
five six games.
Speaker 5 (29:51):
That's I think it's eight. I think it's eight or nine.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
Five games on his belt I want to see what
his legs is doing the yeah, you know, and then
I can make.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
A this is the freshest were going to see hi. Honestly,
this is.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
The most It's not a shame, no traded camp.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
No, like you ain't getting up and down like that
like when you're in preseason, like you really gotta you all.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Thinks he's gonna play himself into shape, yeah, into better physical.
Speaker 5 (30:14):
Or he could play himself into being tired and less
fresh at forty years old, right, I mean, I think
it's I think he'll get into shape, but I think
a fifteen we'll see all right, at twenty five, I
think it's gonna be like, this is the freshest we're
gonna see him.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
I think Lebron rhythm too, Lebron thirty.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
The thing that he's been the best at in terms
of his performance is learning what his.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
New physical abilities.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Allow him to do, like what he can get away
with consistently against certain defense. Yeah, to how his body
is feeling after thirty, because you know the guy that
was like literally jumping over people in two thousand and nine,
Like that's not who he was in sixteen when he
(31:01):
won the championship, not that he didn't have hops.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
You're working from a crazy vertical.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
So like if he decreases about twenty five percent, it's
still hops. But he's like, yeah, I'm not getting up
as much as I did. I'm a little bit more groundbound.
And I think that's always been his best trade, like
to figure out what he could get away with.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
And I think he's in the process that right now,
All right.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
Let's transition into something a little bit different but related.
Right because Luke left the team, he left the country
to go to Slovenia.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
To be with his kid.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
Draymond Green, on the other hand, also is having a
kid and just played through it. Luca ended up missing
two games. Draymond said, Look, it's bad, but this is
my job. This is what I do. I'm gonna be
on the road with the Warriors, and I love my
job and I want to be there for my teammates.
(32:03):
Where are you guys at on the going to the
to the birth of the child versus staying at work.
Speaker 5 (32:09):
I mean, this is number four for Draymond, I think, right,
I think it's number three or four. Granted, every kid
is every kid is different, and no judgment here, but
I'm not speaking on anybody else's You know, you choose
what you choose. You love the game, your job cool,
you know I appreciate I love I love the game too.
I love the job. But to me, I'm not missing
(32:30):
I'm not missing it unless it's the playoffs and we're
down or tied. That's the only way that I feel
like I'm missing the birth of my child. If we're
down in the playoff series and we're down two to one.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
If we're up or so two, oh you're going.
Speaker 5 (32:46):
I'm for sure going. If we're up. If it's two
to one, I'm going, oh wow, we're up by any
of it. If we're up in the series to two,
you're not going. I'm not going.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
I'm not going one one, not going.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
No, No. If it's tired, if it's tied or we're down,
I'm not going, gotcha. But if I'm up at any moment,
we're up at any moment, I'm gonna see, I'll see. Yeah,
you know what I'm saying, like, yeah, I can come
back next game. We'll figure it out.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
What I'm saying regular season, no matter.
Speaker 5 (33:11):
What season, I'm out.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Bro.
Speaker 5 (33:13):
That's just me. Like there's a lot of things that
can happen. I mean, everybody knows again to each his own.
He has a probably good she probably has a good
you know, foundation or family like around her. You know,
I would just like to be there. I like also
to be around that experience. And I don't want any
kid to feel slighted, you know what I'm saying, Like
if I was there for the first one or the
(33:34):
second one, I want to be like, oh you're less
special because you're fourth in line. I'm going to be
there for all of them if I can.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
Got you.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
What about you?
Speaker 1 (33:41):
Well, where are you at where your kids? Your kids
were born during your playing career.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
Right, yeah, all of them for one?
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Gotcha?
Speaker 1 (33:49):
Oh you went to every single bravery woe. Yeah, were
any of them during the playoffs? No, because I couldn't
see you leaving the Heatles series for the.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Birth of child.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
None when we're doing the playoffs, because I got two
in April, one in May.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Okay, So you just happened to miss the playoffs where
you guys were out of the playoffs at that time.
Speaker 5 (34:12):
Because playoffs definitely May April might have already been a
limited that might have been.
Speaker 4 (34:17):
Gone at that point. No, that's the year we went
to the finals. Actually it was like may.
Speaker 5 (34:22):
So it was a break you'll had you had won
a series, closer series and you probably.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Saw I don't know because I never missed a game.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
Yeah, it's probably close.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
I was already in Boston.
Speaker 5 (34:32):
They probably closed series are the four sweep and had
like the days in between where he was like, yo,
I'm good, you know what?
Speaker 4 (34:38):
No, no, no, no, it wasn't there. It was the
following year. I think we lost. I can't remembers.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
Maybe that's when we lost Orlando.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
Orlando. No, we lost to the Lakers in two thousand.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Twenty eleven. You guys want to the Heat.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
We lost to the Heat in the second round, in
the second round. Okay, so then I was there for
the birth.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Yes, after the loss, but like, this is no way
you would have missed the Eastern Conference playoff game, you
know badly?
Speaker 5 (35:08):
That was Game seven.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
I would have missed it.
Speaker 5 (35:10):
You would have missed game seven.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
No, Paul, you're not missing game seven.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
No, I'm not missing games.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
Okay, but that series went to seven games? No, or
was it six?
Speaker 4 (35:21):
I think six the first time because Rono heard his arm. Okay,
it was like some stuff went down. We had a
lot of injuries, or that the next year was fitly seven. Okay,
yeah it was, damn. I can't remember it so long.
Speaker 5 (35:34):
So you only time you I've never been.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
I wouldn't miss no game.
Speaker 5 (35:37):
Okay, so you would. You wouldn't miss the game unless
it was game seven. That's the only way.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
Even if you're down, you wouldn't miss a playoff series game.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
It's tough to say I was there for all of like, like,
I don't think I would have been able to do it.
I think I had to be there.
Speaker 5 (35:52):
Yeah, I would have found a way to get there
after the game. But you know what I'm saying, because people,
you know, a birth of which takes a while. It
doesn't just happen. Some people all movies ten seconds. Well,
some people take about like my first one it took
thirty six hours. Second one took twenty four, like yeah,
and ever some people waters break and goes fast, but
most of the time it takes some time. Like having
(36:13):
a baby, you'll be in a hospital on a couch
for a long time.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
This feels like a different version of of a conversation
that we had about going out before certain opponents.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Yeah, so what I'm saying is like the Spurs.
Speaker 1 (36:25):
You guys both played on a bunch of number one seeds.
You're in the one eight matchup against some.
Speaker 5 (36:31):
Oh yeah, to the hospital, he's playing Charlotte or.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
Three nights in the hospital, stayed to day.
Speaker 5 (36:43):
After is good the viodcast.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Yeah, you're out of here.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
I'll catch y'all. I love that.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
Let's transition man again into our pick review, because we
told y'all we keeping a tally of these prize picks. Okay,
and just a very quick rundown. Let's get into our
picks from the last show, Harrow dnp So we got
to push Bam more or less than eighteen and a
(37:15):
half points. Me and Danny said less. Paul said more.
He had he had twenty four, Paul had it. Austin
Reeves more or less than thirty one and a half points.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
We all said more. We got it Jayalen Brown more
or less than twenty four and a half points.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Everybody said more, you dropped thirty eight and more or
less a fourteen and a half points. Danny and Paul
said more, I said less. So just the tally right now.
Paul is eight and three, I'm eight and three. Danny
is one game behind or one pick behind. At seven
and four.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
We may get money up it money you bet what.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
Playing with us lineup.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
So let's get into our favorite part of every single show.
That's our Picks of the Night, presented by Prize Picks.
First up, we got Dylan Brooks Anthony Edwards, the Phoenix
Suns will be playing in Minnesota Timberwolves.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Dylan Brooks more or less than twenty two and a
half points.
Speaker 5 (38:18):
No Devin Booker, No Jaylen Green, give me more.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Oh, I'm just I know his offensive game has been
coming along lately. He's shot polished.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
He can get twenty three on a defensive front of
Minnesota three right now.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
Averaging twenty.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
Yeah, but Minnesota has has interior, perimeter, defense, quickness, athleticism.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
I'm going less.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
Jade mcdamone's solid defender.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
Yeah, I'm going less because of that.
Speaker 5 (38:51):
I still think he's taking a more enough. He's taking
a lot of shots. He's not passing to anybody. So
I'm just gonna go more. It's not gonna be a
fishing it's not gonna be Jai mcdamon's on him. Every time.
He's gonna get a match up, he's gonna get a
switch Today's NBA. You put up enough shots, you're gonna
get you know what I'm saying. You get the attempts
and how he's worked on his game, He's gonna get there.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
I still refuse to believe in this guy's offensive repertoire.
Speaker 5 (39:13):
I'm going I know it doesn't look nice, but it
shows he's worked on it.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
No, he's much better than he was like in the
fist years or whatever. So we can say that Anthony
Edwards more or less than twenty eight and a half points.
Speaker 5 (39:32):
I'm gonna go less just because I don't know. I
just feel like he's not gonna happen one of those nights.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
I'm going more. I think it gets up for these games.
We saw the highlight the last time they did.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
They lost and dal Brooks doing his Dylan Brooks thing.
Speaker 5 (39:46):
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
That's what I'm going more.
Speaker 5 (39:50):
Because they give up that game. Minnesota gave up that game.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
Twenty nine points is a lot of points.
Speaker 4 (39:54):
That's a lot of points. I think Dylan Brooks is
gonna be up to the challenge. He was his physicality
on the defensive end to slow and down. Then I'm
gonna go less.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
All right, let's get into some three point plays here, guys,
more or less than.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
Two and a half three pointers made for Grayson Allen.
Speaker 5 (40:14):
I'd rather go with Colin Gillespie, honestly, bro Okay, he's
been cooking.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
Colin Gillespie.
Speaker 5 (40:19):
He more he was going. He had like four straight
games with three three plus threes or something like that.
He had eight against the Lakers. So he's on a heater.
He's in rhythm. I don't know what it was last game,
the last time he played, but he's known the clock
in three threes for you, for your group, he's been
on that type of run. So I'm gonna go more
for Colin Gillespie over two and a half threes.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
What about you?
Speaker 4 (40:42):
True, I'm going less less for less, less less, be less.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
Than three two and a half threes. I'm going less.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
I will go. I'm gonna be the time breaker here.
I could see him getting free a couple of times
for some threes, so I'll give him. I'll give him
more for Gillespie and Edwards. This is easy for me.
Speaker 1 (41:01):
I think he's gonna score more than twenty eight and
a half points to me in order to do so
he's gonna make at least three three points. So I'm
going more than two and a half. Three point is
made for Anthony Edwards in this game.
Speaker 5 (41:13):
Oh yeah, I'm gonna go more. He takes enough attempts,
he's gonna go more than two and a half.
Speaker 3 (41:16):
Yeah, he take a lot of times more. Yeah, he
takes a lot of three.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Those were our picks of the night, presented by Prize Picks.
All right, let's move on to foul or no foul.
Our guys man, the Philadelphia Guys, your guy, Yeah, Jayawks,
the Morris Twins. If we could pull up this this clip,
(41:43):
they talked about scouting reports and helping each other as brothers.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
Play the clip really quickly, please.
Speaker 6 (41:50):
I don't know if you remember that we was playing
We played the Wizards my rookie year on Christmas and
we were sitting in the locker room and this before
the game, so we're going through the scout out.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
I never get Brad going through.
Speaker 6 (42:02):
He's talking about John talking about Brad food break and
he gets the key. He's like, mook, He like anything
you want to say, like give us some instad on
your brother was like and like like I remember some
of the coaches was like damn, and I sit there.
(42:22):
I was like, Yo, that's like the only ship I
ever seen. Like Bro, we try and win, but he's
still like that's my brother.
Speaker 3 (42:28):
Like nothing, And I was just like.
Speaker 5 (42:32):
Yo, how fuck with that?
Speaker 2 (42:33):
I always wanted that was hilarious to you.
Speaker 7 (42:36):
I always was like when it came to Bro, like
like I don't give a fuck, Like I like, I
want to win, but I want BRO to play good.
So I'm sure like like speaking of that like that
type ship right there. I'm gonna say this right fucking now,
I would find out the scout report. I'm telling Bro, like, listen,
(42:56):
he gonna guard you going right, they.
Speaker 5 (42:59):
Say that's what.
Speaker 3 (43:04):
That's what they say.
Speaker 7 (43:06):
They said you can't go let I'll be in that
John like they say, he don't do this. I said,
I'll be like what he can't respect me like that? Alright,
You're gonna tell you as soon as I get on
the court, like they said you can't do this, this
and that.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
Bro, broad that's a fascinating clip.
Speaker 1 (43:25):
Basically, Marcus Morris said he's not providing his own team
on how to even just his family, his twin brother everything,
and then he said that the scouting report that the
teams that he's played on that is provided to his
(43:45):
team about how to stop his brother.
Speaker 2 (43:47):
He's telling his brother what teams think.
Speaker 1 (43:50):
His tendencies are and how to that he should try
to counteract them. Is this foul and no foul? This
this brotherly love? This twin connection no foul?
Speaker 4 (44:00):
YEA, yeah, a different type of you know what I'm saying,
never could be found.
Speaker 3 (44:06):
It's brotherly love.
Speaker 5 (44:09):
Nah, I'm with that, no foul. I mean said twins
have a different type of connection, bro, I mean.
Speaker 1 (44:14):
I've signed a contract, like they designed a contract in Phoenix.
Speaker 5 (44:18):
I heard they shared an accounts. I think they shared
an account. They got the same tattoos.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
It was crazy.
Speaker 5 (44:25):
Yeah, they think they have the same tattoos. I'm I'm
not sure if it's true enough. They said they had
the same account or whatever it is. I had a
brother close in age. I've never done that. But looking
at it, like that's kind of ill, Like that's your family.
You want your family to do well. I don't mean
I still don't want to win, like I can still win.
I'm only telling one person. Look, and I'm probably not guarding,
but like, yo, but I think There's been a situations
(44:47):
where I had to play against my brother or see
him and probably not go as you know what I'm saying,
let him get a shot out of if it's family
or somebody I know, Like, I ain't gonna try to
block a shot if you can make a shot and
make shot, but I ain't gonna guard you. Crazy, I'm here,
that's the end of the game, not points.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
That's crazy.
Speaker 5 (45:04):
I've never had to guard my brother in the NBA,
so it's different.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
Got you let me pose it a different way.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
Truth your old Celtics team and y'all going around like, yo,
this is what you need to do, and Marcus Morris
is on your team, He's like, nah, get it. My
brother's playing on Miami, he's playing on Orlando, or he's
playing on Chicago and we're in a heated series.
Speaker 2 (45:27):
But I'm not gonna help you guys figure out how
to kill him. How would you feel about that?
Speaker 3 (45:31):
I wouldn't feel nothing, because the scouting.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
Report you got, you got scouts any do their job.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
Nobody gets that inside information.
Speaker 5 (45:39):
And if he beat you doing the things they said
he can't do, guess what he beat you doing that?
You know what I'm saying, that's what we gave up.
Speaker 4 (45:45):
What more can he tell me about him that as
a scout telling the coaches that I am the eyes
I see, like, you don't tell me, you know what
I'm saying. This is the scout report. It's across the league.
Speaker 1 (46:00):
All right, Let's quickly transition to another file of no
foul because I saw this highlight. And the thing is,
it's one of those things where when somebody has a
track record of doing troll this like.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
What the fuck?
Speaker 5 (46:17):
Slight?
Speaker 2 (46:18):
Like what the fuck?
Speaker 1 (46:19):
You gotta look at things differently, but like, what are
we doing here?
Speaker 5 (46:23):
Bro?
Speaker 1 (46:23):
Like you know, usually when you're falling out of bounds,
if the god's falling out and.
Speaker 5 (46:29):
He thought, yeah for sure, standing there like this, yo,
I think it just hits the guy likes Yo. The
slow makes it look crazy.
Speaker 2 (46:40):
It's unbelievable. What the foul was that foul? Bro?
Speaker 5 (46:50):
I think think he could have he could have just
the wall, you could Yeah, he could have just dropped
it on him.
Speaker 3 (47:00):
I'm looking at the big picture.
Speaker 5 (47:01):
I think in his mind like he just had like
a brain fall like it, just like I don't think
he meant to do it. After they was cool. After
he was like damn, but he.
Speaker 3 (47:08):
Grabbed Sucks his arm and had him fall into So you.
Speaker 2 (47:13):
Say he was defending his Yo, Paul, you always defending.
Speaker 5 (47:22):
Look, this is wild.
Speaker 4 (47:23):
He grabbed Sucks arm and he cast him to the
gold for he saw that while Bro, what are you
doing the teammate? You're trying to hurt my teammate, thog bro.
Speaker 2 (47:34):
The only thing that would have made this worse is
if he hit O G in the head. So I
caught him in the shoulder. It's all good.
Speaker 3 (47:41):
It looked like he's trying to hurt him again this thing.
Speaker 5 (47:43):
I just think he saw him like, hey, dog, what
you doing. I think he thought he was falling out
of bound, so he like tried I thought off and
he was like, but this was wild. This is a
this is foul. This is the foul again.
Speaker 2 (47:53):
I think I don't understand the O G push right there.
Speaker 5 (47:56):
That's because like why would you do that respectful?
Speaker 2 (47:58):
Like why like let's keep it a thousand.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
If somebody did that to you when you were playing,
it would have been scrapping going on.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
He threw the ball at me like yeah, you would
have got him been scrapped.
Speaker 4 (48:08):
I'm I'm trying to think. I gotta think what's going on.
I gotta process the situation.
Speaker 5 (48:12):
That situation, that situation. I probably would have got the
what you on, like, what you're.
Speaker 2 (48:19):
Doing, what we're doing?
Speaker 3 (48:20):
I want to check the temperature, but what we're doing.
Speaker 4 (48:23):
He would have been like, like, what the hell.
Speaker 5 (48:28):
You put you on?
Speaker 4 (48:31):
Chucked the ball at somebody like that, I want you
ready for Yeah, But if he he checked the ball
and was like come on, He's like, you can't check
the balls, might be you gotta be ready for the smoke.
Speaker 5 (48:44):
There was a there was a motherfucker in New York.
They used to do that. He used to like, he's
taking the ball of bounce and throw it at your
face if you like. But we were so young like
that he got you. Yeah, yeah, he got you.
Speaker 2 (48:57):
In the nose.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
You got it.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
That's crazy.
Speaker 5 (49:02):
But years to school and at that time, should have
should have stole off on you can't see ship. I'm
not sure you know how to read at tempts like
if he did, make it seem like but I stole.
Speaker 1 (49:24):
It.
Speaker 5 (49:24):
Brought up that bastard.
Speaker 1 (49:27):
Well, speaking of smoke, we got a CP three update.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
And it has to do with tylu just you know,
coach Lou.
Speaker 1 (49:39):
And CP three disagreeing on whether or not to name
offensive sets. I saw that footage. We could probably put
that footage in and post. Also Chris Haynes, who is
clearly super plugged into this story. I think he has
a pretty good relationship with CP three, as well as
some other guys that.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
Are on the team.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
So if Haines is reporting this and you can get
it on good authority, that it's pretty close to one
hundred percent accurate. But what they were saying was that
when CP three posted that clip about the leeway, it's
because Jeff van Gundhy and I'm presuming other coaches on
the staff got mad that CP three got the players
(50:21):
to switch a coverage on Klay Thompson, who, let's be honest,
you should be switching on Klay Thompson on screens.
Speaker 2 (50:30):
He's not gonna beat whoever switches on to him more
for the dribble.
Speaker 1 (50:33):
And you automatically dead the idea to get start.
Speaker 5 (50:39):
Now, what was going on? Somebody he said, played a clip.
He's saying you shouldn't switch.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
Now, Chris clear something up for me.
Speaker 5 (50:46):
A few days before his release, CP three posted a
screenshot on his Instagram story with the definition of the
word leeway.
Speaker 3 (50:54):
Looking back, What was that all about?
Speaker 8 (50:57):
Yeah, So that occurred from a game against the Dallas Maverister,
the last home game they played.
Speaker 3 (51:04):
It was in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 8 (51:07):
Leonard is on a minute restriction, and sources told me
that when he was guarding Klay Thompson he was struggling.
When he got into the game after sitting down for
a while, he was struggling keeping up with Klay Thompson.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
And so there was.
Speaker 8 (51:19):
A timeout call late in that fourth quarter and during
the fourth quarter, and during that timeout, Chris Paul went
to Kawhi Leonard and said, hey, man, are you fresh
enough and you feel good? You feel like you can
stick with Klay Thompson. And he asked the teammates. He said, hey,
y'all might want to switch this. Wait till he gets warm,
until he goes and guards plays. Clay is killing us
(51:42):
about five six threes at that point, and so they
ended up switching the match up the assignment, and so
the next day Jeff Van Gundy, assistant coach for the Clippers,
he called a meeting with Chris Paul on the plane
the next day and he asked Chris Paul if changed
up the defensive assignment yesterday, and Chris said, no, I
(52:05):
didn't change up the assignment. I just suggested, Hey, we
might want to have somebody else garden clay right now
because Kawhi is not warm yet.
Speaker 3 (52:13):
And so I was told that.
Speaker 8 (52:14):
Jeff and Gunny told Chris Paul, Listen, you might have
had lee way in other places to be able to,
you know, to change up defensive coverages, but you don't
have that leeway here. And that was just one of
the minor verbal incidents between Jeff and Gunny and Chris Paul.
(52:35):
That was one of a few in this brief span
with the Clippers.
Speaker 5 (52:40):
Like is that the start of it? We're talking because
everybody does that on the fly. Players talk all the
time on the court. Sometimes you make your own adjustment,
especially if a player, a superstar player, needs to rest.
There's plenty of times Tony Parker's like, yo, Danny, get
the point guard, even when he was fresh, or even
when he was I'm not playing defense, you know what
I'm saying, Like, you make those calls on the fly.
You're out there on the floor. Obviously the coach helps,
(53:01):
but you sometimes you gotta figure it out on your own,
and especially if the star player says so. Now. I
don't understand why Jeff or coach Van Gundy didn't go
to Kuhet and ask him, hey, did you change this?
Or it was just a suggestion. He didn't say, hey
do this, He'd say, hey, y'all might want to try this.
It worked. What's the what's the issues?
Speaker 2 (53:19):
Obvious?
Speaker 3 (53:20):
They should have been doing that.
Speaker 5 (53:21):
Yeah, like what's the switch? League?
Speaker 3 (53:23):
I just see it as the frustration is building up. Yeah,
because when.
Speaker 5 (53:27):
You start it must have something else, something else had
to happen coming apart.
Speaker 4 (53:32):
When you start losing and the froom. Yeah, every little
thing bothers you. So now you need scapegals and things
of that nature. What's cp wrong? No, he wasn't wrong
with a suggestion. But at the same time, the players
got to inform the coaches because we come into a
(53:52):
scouting thing with a game plan.
Speaker 3 (53:54):
Stick to the game plan over the course.
Speaker 4 (53:56):
If it don't work a few times, let's see over
the course of a game if if it's gonna work.
Game plans don't always work every play, but we're saying
they do the scout and native coaches over the course
of forty eight minutes, we feel like this is gonna work.
If it don't work, it's only y'all in you know
what I'm saying, then we can go like hey, start,
that's when suggestions start coming in.
Speaker 1 (54:16):
So you say you're saying maybe they felt like Chris
interjecting didn't give their game plan time to be effective.
Speaker 4 (54:24):
Well, coach just look at it as undermining, you know.
They like, well, he's not playing, he's not the same
player used to be out here talking.
Speaker 5 (54:34):
Like this, and he's there to help give his somewhat
of an imput like what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (54:38):
Like yeah, but like if everybody on the same pay
for sure, telling one or two people that's not gonna
not gonna make the team better or make uh you know,
the infrastructure like one unit.
Speaker 5 (54:48):
I'm with you again. I don't think he told him
to chang. He just gave him a suggestion of like hell,
y'all could and they talked it out on the floor.
I don't think this was something that changed the whole
like philosophy, their defense. This was a minor and Clay
is not a guy like he's good, but you're not
changing like your scout report, like oh, we got to
make sure we're chasing Clay every time because he's killing
and he's hot. I thought this was a minor adjustment.
(55:13):
This had to This to me shows again they're just
trying to put Chris Paul in his place. There had
to be something for this had to be because it
had to be more than this, because.
Speaker 1 (55:26):
Because to because to me, the idea that you would
want to switch Kawhi off, we're not talking about a
prime Avery Bradley, who's like a locking.
Speaker 5 (55:37):
Trail yeah, assassin again. And also we're not talking about
Clay when he was in his golden state years, so
like he's been coming off the bench quite a like
he's second. So this to me wasn't a major switch adjustment.
This is more of no Chris, they could have eased him, like,
yo Kuhi, did they tell you to switch? No, we
talked it through or you know, or who gave you
(55:58):
a suggestion. It's just a suggestions happen all day every day.
Speaker 3 (56:02):
You have to do it.
Speaker 5 (56:04):
So now we're going to the source who suggested it
is the issue, not the guys that actually did it.
On the floor, y'all. They could have a right Chris.
Now we're gonna do this is what ty Lu said
we should do because if I'm a superstar, like shit,
if I feel I need to adjust or change, cool,
I'll do it. But if not, like, all right, let
me ask ty Lou yo tie or Coach Lou. I'm
a little ti, is it okay if we switch this?
(56:25):
If you felt like it was like an overstepping or
inappropriate suggestion, I'm asking the coach before I do it.
But if I do it and I already made the
call and it worked, it ain't like the fuck got
a four point play after it. It stopped Clay from
getting a shot. So what's I don't understand what the
issue is this? More so is listen, this is who
you are here. We're put like you don't have cut
(56:46):
the ship now, like there must be something before or
after that. They're like, nah, we're tired of this. We
don't need no more suggestions from you. What am I
here for them? You're not playing me. I'm here to
help young guys.
Speaker 2 (56:57):
Coach.
Speaker 5 (56:57):
This is a change that visibly worked and it wasn't
a big change.
Speaker 4 (57:01):
Well, it didn't work because somebody had an isolation on
somebody that they had a switch to it might have.
Speaker 3 (57:08):
He got to the free throw al he got play,
didn't get the ball that somebody got to the free
throw lin.
Speaker 5 (57:15):
Yeah, that's the man guarding the balls. His fall. I
ain't quiet, and what's the name?
Speaker 3 (57:18):
Fault?
Speaker 4 (57:19):
Stuck to the game plan. He probably wouldn't have went
one on one right there.
Speaker 3 (57:23):
You see. It's a bigger picture to it all, too.
Speaker 5 (57:25):
So you don't think that they would rather that happened
than Clayable before pen down three.
Speaker 3 (57:29):
Any two is better.
Speaker 4 (57:31):
It's not better than the three, of course, But the
game plan is this, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (57:38):
And there's a lot of ways to flip and make
it look better that to me worked. We stopped the play,
they broke the play. Now you gotta go one on one.
I'm okay with that. But if you want to look
at the positives or everything you can.
Speaker 3 (57:48):
It's a big picture, you know that for sure.
Speaker 5 (57:52):
I think the bigger picture for them was CP you
need to put in your place, you need to say shit.
I guess they were tired of him at this point.
I don't know what happened before this. Something had to
for them to say suggestions again, happen all the time,
bro every huddle. It's like, YO, you're feeling all right,
Sure you need a sub You sure you want to
get this, You're sure you want to slide this way?
Speaker 3 (58:08):
You should?
Speaker 5 (58:09):
You want to send them right. Yo. Every every time out,
even on the court, suggestions happened. We might want to
switch this, yo, if he comes off the screen, let's
lay switch, y'all. Gotta figure that out the.
Speaker 3 (58:19):
End of the day.
Speaker 4 (58:20):
This tells me that there was just a lock of
leadership in the lockerow exactly. You know what I'm saying, Like,
because if you know CP has suggested something like somebody else.
Speaker 5 (58:32):
Want to start step up and having back his back
or be.
Speaker 3 (58:35):
Like no, we're not gonna do that right now, or
that's not right now.
Speaker 1 (58:40):
Coaches and some other not right now, not right now.
We'll just finish out that little game plan. Yeah, we'll
bring it to him as a problem.
Speaker 5 (58:47):
There's no way I'm allowing if I'm one of the
vets on the team, like saying Philly for con like
for Conn to take the rap because he suggested something,
I said, no, yeah, he suggested it, but I thought
we should do it, so I did it. You know
what I'm saying, Like, no, that's his fault. I'm not
letting Cepe take that. What I'm saying like he just
made suggestions. People say suggestions.
Speaker 4 (59:07):
All the time, Like somebody suggests a suggested something to
me in the time out comes over there, I gotta
bring it to.
Speaker 3 (59:13):
The time out. Now, Hey, what y'all think about this?
We're gonna do this.
Speaker 4 (59:16):
Yeah, y'all want to do this because I think there's
a help and me as a leader, I'm be like, hey,
you know what, let's do this.
Speaker 1 (59:22):
Yeah, you're just saying you're kind of taking it over
to be like, look, let's have some ownership and let's
have some kind of accountability about you know, we're.
Speaker 2 (59:33):
All down with taking this shot.
Speaker 3 (59:36):
For sure.
Speaker 2 (59:36):
I'm the one that brought it to the table.
Speaker 1 (59:38):
Yeah, there's nobody on the Clippers that would ever be
what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (59:41):
And maybe it's because maybe they were tired of him
too and they didn't care to have his back at
that moment. For your guys and y'all are together, that
was no way I'm lett my teammates, especially for a
suggestion take take the fall. Let people just disrespect them
as a twenty and he's a twenty year vet let
alone a rookie kid like I wouldn't let it. I
wouln't let a rookie take that type he suggested it.
I thought it was a good idea, like we're here
(01:00:03):
to put all our minds together to make the smartest
decision for all parties, for us to win and be successful.
And I brought it to the group, or I brought
it to the guy that I was switching with, which
didn't affect the ultimate bigger picture goal of what our
group is doing. We're still in a down. We're still
forcing him left, We're still you know, top locking pin downs,
or Clay is not getting the ball. He can still
deny him. Now if we mess it up, that's one thing.
(01:00:25):
But we stopped play from getting the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
Yeah, I got it. Let's move on to our closing man.
Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
And it's just a way too early look into the future.
Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
Of the NBA Finals. And I wanted to.
Speaker 1 (01:00:42):
Know what were you guys's dream NBA Finals matchup be
right now?
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
And what do you think would be your dreaming?
Speaker 5 (01:00:51):
What do you think would be because I think it
would be better to have to Western Conference teams honestly,
in the finals. You can say my Western Conference finals
matchup a dream with okay See Denver.
Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:01:05):
But for the finals, who do I think in the
East deserves to be there or like to make a
push or run and play against Oka See or actually
give them a run for the money? Probably probably the Knicks, Paul.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
The dream finals matchup this season will be one dream
matchup Lakers versus Knicks.
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
Yeah, in terms.
Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
Of the NBA, in terms of interest, fan interests, in
terms of engaging in the entire country in a matchup,
I think that's obvious, right right, And it can happen.
Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
It's possible.
Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
They're both top.
Speaker 4 (01:01:44):
Three in their conference and uh, and so it can
definitely happen.
Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
Like to me, I mean, realistically, it would have to
be okay See. And I think the Knicks, just in
terms of for the league and the interests in the
game and.
Speaker 5 (01:01:59):
The match up, the team that the names the Knicks.
I feel like in the East the only team that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:03):
Really has big guys, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:02:06):
The pieces and to match up with okay See everybody
else in the East, I don't think they have enough.
Detroit is good, but.
Speaker 1 (01:02:12):
Nobody needs to make a big earth like Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (01:02:16):
I don't think they have enough Wolf. I mean Orlando
is always in and out, like Boston is good. They
can play, but they don't.
Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
Have their group now Boston last year.
Speaker 5 (01:02:27):
But outside of that, I think Nick's the only ones
that match up. So but for me, the dream series
that I want to is that Western Conference matchup between
Denvin Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:02:33):
See.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Well, that's our show for today, guys.
