Speaker 1 (00:19):
What's up, y'all? Welcome to No Fouls Given, presented by
Prize Picks of course on Big Wise, joined as always
by the two NBA legends, Paul Pierce Danny Green.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
What's going on, y'all?

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Nothing much man. Coming off a solid week in the
NBA Action, definitely wanted to get right back into what's
been probably the biggest story of the season is the
emergence of victim women Yama. Two huge victories over the weekend.
They beat the Rockets in the NBA Cup game. That
one went down to the why I watched that from

(00:52):
start to finish, incredible game, and then they beat the Pelicans,
obviously not as good as Houston, but more importantly, d
Aaron Fox came back. Yeah, and we'll get into darreon Fox.
But I think a lot of the shadow.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yeah, that's crazy, crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Excuse my part of my friends.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yah, Jesus.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
I think a lot of the chatter around the league.
And you know something I've been reading, like different outlets,
like writers that I messed with, media people, some of
the player podcasts is like when he came out the
box dropping thirty, dropping twenty eight, you know, seemingly unstoppable,
he's kind of come back down to earth, and people

(01:38):
are saying, as the league figured would be out.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
Have they figured him out? He's You're not gonna be
able to figure him out because he's always going to
have an effect on the game, whether he's scoring or not. Yes,
because like if he's in the paint, you're not going
into the paint. And defensively, the way he can just
change it. Again, he's probably gonna win the next five
defensive Players of the Year if he's healthier, Like you

(02:01):
know what I'm saying, So like if you you can't
figure that out, and then if his offense is rolling,
and you gotta also say, listen, he's had different start
guys in and out of the lineups too, so you
know they had their chemistry at the beginning, but then
now when you start shuffling the guards in and out
of the lineup, it's hard for him to be consistent
because he has to get the ball in the spots.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
So tough to figure out.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
I agree, but I think they found something to slow
him down. Yeah, I want to say they figure out,
but only a matter of time before he he figures
out how to master this. You know what I'm saying,
like he's a guy, he's a kid that cares about
like getting better. Yeah, so he's gonna figure out how
to get the ball where he needs it, like in
the spots that he wants. And he's seven four. You
can't block and shot, you know, you know what I'm saying.

(02:42):
So like figure, like Paul said, figuring him out and
you have block and shot.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Hope he misses. You can make a tough tough for him.
Hope he misses.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
But yeah, he's starting to come down to earth a
little bit because we see him as a defensive guy.

Speaker 5 (02:51):
Mostly.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Like him coming out scoring and averaging thirty was like,
you know, he could probably be win the best players
of all time.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
Yeah, continue that. Oh everything we he made us believe
that he was a scorer. He can score.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
They'll have knights where he will score, but he's not
there yet to be like consistent score. If he becomes that,
he will be one of the best players of all time.
But mostly he's a defensive player. He's skilled offensively and
he can score, but realistically he's a guy to change
the game defensively and offensively. Just said, rebound put backs,
but knock down a three here and there, But it'll
open up the floor from more now that darreon Fox

(03:23):
is back, when they get Dylan Harper back and they
get you know, the whole team, whole Cornett, it'll open
up the floor from But he has to figure out,
like how to attack these defense that throw on him
now differently, So he'll figure that out in it's only
amount of time. But this is him. I'm cool with
eighteen and eighteene. I mean, just a slow night for

(03:46):
him is a great night for anybody else.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
You know, the idea that Wenby's been figured out and
the answer to the test is to put six foot
eight guys like rooming on him, Like I'm sorry, that's
not long term, like the idea that he's not going
to figure out how to consistently beat up on six
foot eight dudes, Like I don't care how rangy or
shifty these guys are. He's gonna eventually figure out how

(04:09):
to beat that. And I think what they've been doing
a better job is pushing him out further and further from.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
The bast how to get his spot. Yeah, it's a rap.
And then once he also figured out how to manipulate
the game. But certain guys know how to get to
the free throw once you're not able to like, you're
not gonna just push him around.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
I said this, and I said again, in case the
people didn't listen, I said it a year ago. Wemby
is the most talented player in the NBA right now,
the most top to bottom most talented player. There's no
figuring that out. You can'd the most talented, don't.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
He does random ship like what the Lakers did, and
even with some of the rock what some of the
Rockets were doing too, again was it was it's like
just basically giving them different looks, different in waves at
him to let him be not comfortable. And again it's
only his third year. He hasn't mastered every.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
Single half the year last year, so it's like it's
really like exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
So I think I think he'll be fine. I think
it was big as Darren Fox coming back, because you know,
he dropped twenty four in the in the in his
season debut. He was a big part of what they
were doing. And crunch time. Again, it's the Pelicans, I
get it, but they were in a close game and
the aon Fox kind of settled it.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
That matters, it's you matter who are you playing against them?

Speaker 5 (05:36):
Crunch time?

Speaker 3 (05:37):
You need somebody? Okay, see they were, you know, but
a lot of those games were crunch time. Yes, even
though they weren't teams that were great, considering they were
close games like it might have been Sacramento, might have
been Indiana, but they won those games down the stretch,
and that prepares you for the lung and they need that.
You could tell even against the Lakers, they just didn't
look yeah, composed, They didn't look like they were confident

(05:57):
down the stream.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
And watched them though seriously, because before I was on
the like, all right, maybe you could use the Fox
as a trade piece.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
I'm not on that no more.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
I like his stability, brands and he could take some
scoring off. So it it made me look when I
looked at that stat line with all the players, how
they all everybody had a good game, Like everybody they
had like seven eight guys double. So I was looking like, damn,
is san Antonio contender?

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Like only with him with you have to have Fox though,
like with another year or two before Dylan Harper. Yes's castle,
I'm saying, but you need him for the next you looking.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Like they got talent, they got probably an MVP candidate.
They got athleticism, they got guard play, they got depth,
and and I'm gonna get that young kid.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
He got coaching. When you come from the Pop tree,
you coaching?

Speaker 5 (06:50):
You you? You? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:52):
He do?

Speaker 5 (06:54):
You know what he's doing?

Speaker 1 (06:55):
What is the what is the Midge scouting report? If
you have one?

Speaker 5 (06:58):
Like with how he coaches.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah, I'm just assuming he's very similar. I mean, he's
doing it his own way. Got you, but it ain't different, bro,
pop and ours is still there. Yeah, it's just like
still in Miami. But you know, got you he learned
from it's a tree.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
What's going on?

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Yeah, I mean, just to bring it back to the
weinby thing full circle. I just I have a hard
time believing that he's not gonna find ways to find
stuff in film, and you know, the coaching staff aren't
gonna like make a concerted effort to make sure. Because
even in the Laker game that he filed out, when
he was down the stretch, when he was getting the
ball at the elbow, it was just like, yeah, it's over.

(07:40):
He's going downhill and he's getting fouled and he's scoring.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
He's dunking on people's head.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
It's wonderable from the bas so.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
It's just making a more concerted effort to not be
so you know, three point again dominant.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
That's gonna take him.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
He can do a little bit a little throughout the season,
but there's not enough time from the work on that
got you. He's gonna go with this this past summer.
He was gonna get better throughout the season. But you
better believe this this next summer instead of the showerling
with the monks and everything, he's gonna do some of
that too. But he's gonna be like, all right, how
do I get to my spots? How do I get
to the free throw line? How do I make sure,
you know what I'm saying, I don't get pushed away
from the basket. How do I operate against smaller guys.

(08:16):
I'm gonna play more against smaller guys.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
It's just gonna be age.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
As his body gets stronger, like we saw with Jannis,
Like you know what I'm saying, As he got stronger,
he got better. That's what's gonna happen with this kid.
Because he looks a little stronger this year. It looks
a little better. The talent, Like I said, the talent
is there, the skills is there, Just like when you
watch these kids come up and a you be like,
hes gonna be good when it gets stronger. All you
gotta do is get strong. And I'm seeing that in

(08:40):
the NBA certain guys they just need to get stronger.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
And that's it. Like we ain't saying he gotta what
do we say he gotta work on? Yeah, you know
to come back and get this.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
He needs to jump shide superstars like if he could
come back, and you just gotta get strong.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
That's really that simple, and it's crazy close.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Ad KD has come up so many times in the
Wenby conversations. Obviously they're different players, but very early on
in Kd's career was easy to deny him the ball
and keep them off of the spot.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
Yeah, the smaller guys. That was a smaller guy to
guard him.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Denying make it hard for him to catch, like crowd
them and he wouldn't sort of assert himself in his spot.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
And then he got better at it.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Of course, MVPs and you know, all scoring titles and
all that stuff came after. So obviously I think that's
coming with Wenby.

Speaker 4 (09:34):

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Is good to be right.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Let's walk them down, guys and talk about Man, the
Denver Nuggets.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
Bro, they ball bro. I mean again, it's early for everybody.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Seven and two as of this recording.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
People could say, you know, it's still very good. They
can tell about strength to schedule. I'm trying to see
who's in there in Indiana. It's a solid team, but
they're not fully.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Golden State didn't have Steph the other night. They blew
him out.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
So the two losses that have Golden State went fully
healthy and I forget who else they lost to?

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Oh was it?

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Think it was like an unacceptable loss. I feel like
it was like somebody like Sacramento or something like.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Yeah with somebody, let's pull that up. Who did they
lose to this year?

Speaker 5 (11:33):
Either way?

Speaker 3 (11:35):
They yeah, they lost to Portly boom on.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
The Portly got some big home wins. This yeh beat
Denver ended okay, see streak, So I looked it up
then before we came up here. Denver is the second
in net rating, basically less than a point from Okac's pace, which,
by the way, okay See doesn't have this second best
player is still the best, which is crazy net rating

(12:03):
team in the NBA. They're still blowing teams out right now.
Denver is second in defensive efficiency and they've got the
second rate the defense in the league right now.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
And they haven't I feel like they still haven't reached
scratched the surf.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
They're gonna They're gonna be smarter and better.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
I just feel like certain guys haven't even found the
rhythm in system yet. Yeah, like Cam Johnson, once he
gets going against his rhythm, Tim Hardaway Jr. Like, once
those two guys get more comfortable reps with, it's gonna
be problem.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
It's gonna be a problem.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
I like the way Jamal is looking.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
But yes, they're they're to answer the question. They're the
team to me that can.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Yeah, that can see that can do damage to okay See.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Give okay See, Like, are they the Are they the
team that can give okayc a run for their.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Money to the second best defense in the NBA. However, No,
I'm just saying, like just the fact that that that's
where they are nine games stretch, they can play like that,
I think makes all the difference because to me, they
got the most consistent offense, but.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
They got some they got some defensive talent over Yeah,
I mean you gotta look at like even they bench.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
When you look at.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Your man Pyton Washington Watson, you guy, he's a he's
a he's a defender out there, he's out there blocking shots,
he's guarding all five positions. He's giving him some energy
off the bench. Now, guys like Bron Christian Brown, they
got there. You know what I'm saying. They got dogs,
So that's not surprised. Cam Johnson gives you versatility defense.

(13:32):
They have defensive guys, so it's not really surprising that.
And I think they can keep this up all season.
Remember they're the only team that pushed Okay, see the seven.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Yes, I don't think they could be number two oh season,
but they could be top five.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
And that's what bro, And that's just crazy to think about.
One of the things that came up right now, teams
are shooting from three against Denver. We know that's going
that's gonna go up. You know, they they've had some
great three point shooting luck. But like I'm sorry, the

(14:04):
fundamentals are there for a solid defense and usually like
if you if Denver could get their defense to be
in the top thirteen to twelve, because they're consistently in
the top three in offense, it's like, all right, that's
the that's the remedy. But to be playing like actually
good to great defense, this this is this is a
worrying developer.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
A big part of their defense as we're missing as
the rebounding. Yeah, and the pickup of Jonas Valanciunas I think.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
Helped you a lot.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
So now that you could play it, you know, Aaron Gordon,
Aaron Gordon was out, it was like they lost some
defense and rebounding. Yokah is only one by himself. Now
you got you can play them together or in that
second unity, you have a second guy. Last year the
second unit, who was DeAndre Jordan when it was that, Yeah,
it wasre It was DeAndre and Russ. Yeah, that was
the second unit. And not saying DeAndre is not a

(14:53):
solid big he's a little older. Yeah, but you got
a little younger.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
When Zegnaji was playing five.

Speaker 5 (14:58):
I barely seen him play.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
It was tough. Those were tough minutes. Hell, DJ got
taken the playoffs at back up five because he's experienced
some good quarters the Clippers. It was like experience.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
We love DJ but god damn.

Speaker 5 (15:18):
But then they like an extension.

Speaker 6 (15:20):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
When Calvin was there, he had he just fall in
love with his draft picks, you know what I mean.
So any young guy that he brought, he's like, no,
we need to invest in him. Like that's about the work. Zeke,
not so much. Peyton Watson, you know, uh Brown, Like
these guys have panned out in an amazing way. Zeke
hasn't really been. He could be another guy that was

(15:49):
getting taken the playoffs. He's having a little bit harder
time breaking the rotation with Bruce Brown and Tim Hardaway
being in there. But I think, yeah, obviously we think
Denver is as formidable an opponent as as Okay, c
is gonna have me.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
If it's not them, who else do you think could
give him? There's nobody else that I'm looking at.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Houston.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Please don't sleep on Houston. Houston is gonna be there.
They get listen, they ain't even even scratch who they're
gonna be.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
Yeah, you know, yeah, they.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Gonna Even though they lost to Antonio is still young.
So Houston have to give edge to Houston a great game.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Sometimes you say San Antonio gonna be a problem.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
They're gonna be good, but I feel like they don't
have enough experience yet to challenge.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
You gotta start somewhere. What I like about that, you know,
like that breakthrough. I mean, you know, you just never
know this guy. We don't know that we could be
watching an all time player, like really like but like
get this team to the finals, and it's not like.

Speaker 5 (16:46):
Derek ros Rondo that like years how they was going off.
He could go off.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
And if he goes off as different than Rondo and Derek,
like de Rose when y'all have them battles between Chicago.
For he's seven four, so he can control.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
A whole game.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
You can series goes on offensively and he's blocking shots defensively,
he could win you a whole series.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
They got the number one. This is the thing in
the West. The number one ingredient that I've seen in
my history of playing in the league, watching the league, though,
number one ingredient to win a championship is you.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Got to have an MVP candidate.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
Like every champion has a m VP caliber player and
weinby is that who in the Rockets?

Speaker 3 (17:25):
I mean you can say have a collective.

Speaker 5 (17:29):
To be MV.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
Obviously Joker obviously, Luca Yeah, obviously a Greek freak. And
then there's one more, Anthony Edwards. There's a number of
contenders when you have a top five MVP candidate and.

Speaker 5 (17:44):
So nobody else you got just Yanna.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
So the East, I don't think nobody in the East
can come out and win. Well, Donaldvan should be in
the MVP conversation.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
Say that, and I think Brunton will be closed depending
on how the next to But your point is taking
you need elite players and they.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
At least agree that one.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Yeah, in order to compete at the very time. So
the West, the West is a bear. But producer Chris
Man wanted to ask you all about this just to
continue on here. Because the Lakers shot out of a
cannon seven and seven and two to start the season.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
They go on the road to a depleted Hawks team.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Granted, the Lakers are dealing with injuries to two of
their very best players, two of the three best players out.
They go out and get smoked by the shorthanded Hawks
on the road. First day at a road trip, JJ
Reddy could barely finish a press conference by the way, JJ, bro, like,
we gotta get him some value of something.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Bro, his hair is gonna go great, is gonna lose
the fact he's stressed out.

Speaker 5 (18:46):
He's so takes it. He takes a job, seriously hired
him for Like.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
I get it, but like as two games.

Speaker 5 (18:53):
It's only game seven eight.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Like everything like life and death. But JJ basically can't
even finish a press conference. But I wanted to ask
you guys as former players, like like, how does a
team riding as high as the Lakers just coming and
just lay an egg in at l Is it? Is
it the atl flu where guys enjoying the festivities.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
That listen, Listen, this is their first game on the
road trip, right they go to Atlanta? How many times
once a year Magic City is in Atlanta? I think
this might be like the thirty year anniversary.

Speaker 5 (19:35):
Sometimes showing up.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Might not be You might not be coming back.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
You ain't coming back to going back to it, you
ain't coming back to Atlanta, So you know they might
have slide out. I mean I only think I could think, yeah,
when I got some limit pepper lose.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
And just a fool, it's a full move.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
I think it's just them laying like I don't believe
in Atlanta either, Like Atlanta is not one of those
teams what I'm saying, so what is I just think
they just sunshines and the dogs ass every once in
a while.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
Got the limit.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
I'm not going to be crazy over one game, but
at a certain point.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Yeah, I'm not gonna be victim of a moment, Like
I don't think they're gonna go down. Yeah, you know
how the back game, Atlanta probably close, It should have
been better.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
Sometimes he brought.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
Back, made a run.

Speaker 5 (20:13):
Your leaders didn't have a Luca having twenty two eleven.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
That's a second hook all out there.

Speaker 5 (20:19):
Yeah kind of stuff.

Speaker 7 (20:23):
They have a huge hookah coaching Hohoka. You know, they
have a huge coaching for that out you know. Yeah,
I'm trying to give him my excuse. Yeah, no, I'm
trying to j J wasn't happy. He wasn't trying to
hear the excuses. But yeah, that means that it's just
one night. We'll see how they bounced back. How many

(20:44):
games on this road tip three or four. See, it's
a wake up call. They probably needed it so they
can Yeah, they probably came in.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
It was just it was just energy. They didn't have
just a low energy, no sense of urgency.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
They on bullshit, Atlanta, we should be all beat now
now it's like all right, wake up call.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
So but then also another thing, when you start these
road trips to the first game going from west to east.
The time difference, Yeah, you know that can affect like
your body because like your hours. Yeah, you lose three hours.
So you like used to like playing yes early, like
you know what I'm saying. We when we played when

(21:20):
I was in the league, like it was drastic. How
like when we played one o'clock games, because we always
played seven seven thirty games, so that one o'clock game
we always was sluggish.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Yeahs when we came to anytime we come to Boss
on a Sunday, it's like one o'clock twelve.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
It does, it does.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
Body is so used to all right, I play, I
practiced that team, and then your body get used to that.
Then you like playing at one or you're playing three
hours before you normally play, your body just don't wake
up or something.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
Your muscle memory.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
It's just it's it's weird, it's it's it sounds like
an excuse, but it's really something to.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
It got you. Uh, just moving on to the heat.
They had another nice to win against the Pacers. It
just feels like they're just overachieving it for four and
no at home.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Hasn't happened since they made the finals.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Let's not get crazy, Chris, but like as it happen
since they made nineteen in nineteen twenty.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
You gotta get credit credits, dude. You know it's falling home.
Ain't no, ain't no sloud.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
Norman Powell, which I think was just not a hugely
discussed move in the off season.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
He's missed a few games, but he's.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Averaging a career high twenty three after having a career
high season last year, which.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
Is kind of crazy having his best year. He should
have been All Star last year.

Speaker 5 (22:39):
All Star he was even he was.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
He was a boardline by the time because he was
All Star game he was.

Speaker 5 (22:46):
He was, he was a leading team scoring, he was.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Bro came they was leaning on him, Bro.

Speaker 5 (22:53):
And they gave it to James. James got the All
Star last year.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
He was a borderline All Star, Paul, I know you
don't think that way.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
And he looking at.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
Him as like a really good role player, really good
off the bench.

Speaker 5 (23:04):
Yeah, score All Star.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
He was doing.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
His numbers were good enough and they were winning that
like they were Clippers were in a good conversation, like
winning to.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
Me, and he was a guy on the team.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
What's crazy is he's doing this at thirty. He's having
his best years of his career.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
But they traded Hi because they couldn't pay him. That's
you know what I'm saying. So, and he's needed right
now because talent heroes out. Yeah, but Miami's been playing
good even without him and talent because the system.

Speaker 5 (23:29):
But he's playing well.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
Heat we talked about it.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
They're leading the league in pace there I believe either
first to second in offensive efficiency, which again, like if
you look at this lineup, So before Sebruary, best offense
in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Before February, before Kawhi came back, he was leading the
leading scorer on the team.

Speaker 5 (23:46):
He was averaging more.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
His numbers dropped at the end where he's ended up
averaging maybe twenty twenty one, but he was averaging like
twenty four. Yeah, he was up to averaging and he
was the leading scorer. He was shooting forty plus from three,
and he was averaging twenty plus points and they would
win a game because.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Of norm the one game that I went to into
it last year.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Again, not saying like there's certain guys that aren't All Stars,
but that they still make the All Star team.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
I've seen, I've seen some guys sneaking.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Look, this isn't hard to sneak in the West, though.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
This is for the All Star team. Atlanta have four
he was, by the way, that's always the example people use.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
How did that Williams in the All Star locker?

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Oh my god, Atlanta had four guys go the jeft
Kyle Korver.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
Yeah, he would have been one of those stranger.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Like top three in the West for him to get in.

Speaker 5 (24:48):
Man, what do you want injury?

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Like?

Speaker 5 (24:50):
He would have been everybody else that got injured.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
What do you guys think is the heat ceiling in
the East? We're ten games in again, Paul said it
like we don't ship, not setting stone until twenty tod days.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
You can see you can start seeing who who what
what you can kind of see after twenty five that comes.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
Out ten games we're still right now.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Steel for me, I still even then unless they make
a move that roster, they can be top six and
being a playoffs like not plan.

Speaker 5 (25:21):
But I don't see them making it out the first round.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
Yeah, this is not a unless really out coaching somebody
like Milwaukee.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
It's just not a second round talent in terms.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
Yeah, let's say, let's say, out coach somebody. They get
what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Hell man, they might be.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
They might be playing better than Orlando, I'll tell you
that freaking yea.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
So if they match up with Orlando or something like
that and it's out coaches them or something, you know.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
So yeah, we still were still luke warm on the
heat pun intended.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
But but uh, let's.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
Get right into our favorite part of the show every
single night. That's the picks of the night, presented by
Prize Picks.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
And which our picked last time. Then age, Well, I
don't think if I can remember correctly.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
Some decent ones. I know we had the winby under
at least I did. Evan Mobley is playing Miami less
and lesson more more or less than nine and a
half rebounds.

Speaker 5 (26:19):
They're playing against. They're playing against Miami right.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
Of possessions.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Khalil were over there, they running up and down against pace.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
That's a tough one. I'm gonna I'm gonna go. I'm
gonna go less than.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
I'm more than.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
I'm more than the heat of the fastest paced team,
and that is out fastest paced team in the n
b A a lot of opportunities for rebounds.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Bam out I'll go. I'll go with more than bam,
I'll go more.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Than in Miami.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
In Miami, they used to do that.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Yeah, that might be here in.

Speaker 6 (26:59):
The South, I have no might not have a young
young guy.

Speaker 5 (27:03):
Yeah, I'm gonna stick with my Lester.

Speaker 4 (27:04):
I'm gonna go to Lester less Lester and not to
not to be that guy.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
But I've seen them mostly.

Speaker 5 (27:12):
On streets different Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
Outside.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
I will say this, it's early in the season, so
like you're more likely to go out earlier and then later.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
I have a question for you guys.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Did you guys go out based on the quality of
the opponent?

Speaker 4 (27:34):
Absolutely no, So no question. We're playing the boy, We're
playing the hornets.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Yeah, I'm going to like six in.

Speaker 5 (27:46):
The morning for sure. For sure.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
I mean I never I never went crazy now I
would depending on them. It also depends on the city
and how often you can again, so you gotta take
advantage so even if certain cities, like if you go
in to Phoenix or Atlanta, if they're even if they're good,

(28:09):
you still might go out, but you probably.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
Go home early. Got you, you know what I'm saying.
But yeah, the teams that weren't you, it would take
it time. You take your time outside.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
I have another question.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
I ain't in no rush to get to the house.
I'm saying, I gotta worry about it. We'll be all right.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
I have a question about the NBA cities thing too,
Like when you're in Milwaukee, right, and let's just say,
I don't know, Milwaukee's a bad example. Let's say you're
in Charlotte and Atlanta's the next night. Are you guys
rushing to get out of Charlotte to get to Atlanta.

Speaker 4 (28:44):
Well, it depends because if we're we can coach can
be like, we're going to stay the night in Atlanta.
So we would just wait after the game, since we
might if it's a back to back, because we might
be off the next day. Because if it was back
to back and we off the next day, we're gonna
stay to night and just fly the next that God. Yeah,
so New York would be a city though we're trying
to get to New York.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Got let's get on.

Speaker 5 (29:05):
Her on the plane.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
Feel like any major city you try to get to.
But again, it depends on how the games was spaced out.
So you have a three game road trip before game
road trip and there's a day in between, and it's like,
all right, d C, and we're going to going to Atlanta,
Atlanta or Miami or Chicago's like, let's not stay, we'll stay.
We'll get to Chicago early. Then I have the day
off of Chicago. And then if we say if we

(29:27):
can stay in the city longer, Usually the head the
top three guys would be like they're going to scheduling.
All right, we're going to stay on talk unless the
coach felt some way, like if Doc was like not,
Doc was like are we staying here?

Speaker 5 (29:40):
Why the hell were staying in More or you know
what I'm saying, Or Detroit.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
Doc said, so you guys never wanted to spend extra
time in Memphis or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Like the Western Conference is terrible.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
Yeah, Likeland, you never wanted to stay extra time. Sacramento
never wanted to stay.

Speaker 5 (30:00):
The bad cities on both sides.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
Listen, listen, there's how many cities. Is in the Eastern
Conference Toronto, d C, New York, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta. Like
when I went to the end of my career the
Western Conference, I was like, this is weak.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
And then all the flight all the flights is two hours.

Speaker 5 (30:19):
Yeah, depending on but there's some city.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
Oh, Texas City, Houston, Dallas, Houston. You got two l
A teams. You got the Bay.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
I'm saying, you got to the Bay.

Speaker 5 (30:29):
You got Phoenix base hit a miss, but Phoenix is.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
You got Phoenix Scotts Like, it's not it's.

Speaker 5 (30:37):
Not what, it's not what.

Speaker 4 (30:38):
And then like everything on the in the West coast
close at too, Yeah, the East coast.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Is at l in New York and Miami don't close.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
But if you have to say so, Like the guys,
let's coach said, no, we want them to focus. We're
not going to stay to night over. We're not gonna
get to Miami earlier and stay the night over. The
guys would say, yo, let's get there early.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Because I've heard of certain teams with certain guys, was
like we in LA were staying.

Speaker 5 (31:02):
The coach trust you to do. So, I'm saying, if
we're not leaving.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
In last we have to veteran te veterantane got you.

Speaker 5 (31:09):
The coach trust you.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
But if you're a young team, now y'all in and
out of that city on the road, coach like not.

Speaker 5 (31:15):
We need to focus. Y'all get to Miami. Get one
night in Miami.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
Out Jared Allen, We're going more, very more for him.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Yeah, more than seven and a half collel where nine
and a half rebounds?

Speaker 5 (31:30):
Well, no, Bam, I think he has to Yeah, I'm
gonna go.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
I'm gonna go more for him, So less for Evan mobilely,
more for Jared Allen, more for Clil.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Where howmy hotkast who's having a bounce back year. So
happy for him.

Speaker 5 (31:42):
Man had a great rookie year.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
Last year was horrible looking back, and now he's back
to like looking like him, you know, a great role player.
So I'm gonna go more more for Homi as well.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
And I'm gonna go more for.

Speaker 5 (31:56):
Rebound scoring well, but I don't know if he's rebounding well.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
More for collel where as well.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
We're going more or less than twenty five and a
half for Donovan Mitchell.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
I'm going more for Donovan Mitchell.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
I think he I think he's it's certain cities you
like to play in. Miami is one of those cities where, like,
I love to play in Miami, and I know he's
one of those guys that loves to play there.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
I'm gonna go less for Harmony, Hawkins rebounds, I'll go
more for Don got you.

Speaker 5 (32:20):
I'm gonna go more for Don.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
For Norm Powell twenty two and a half points, he's
averaging twenty three.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Yeah, Paul, it's borderline All.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Star from last year, believe it or not.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
I'm gonna go less for Powell verse Cleveland because he's
gonna have his hands full with Garden, Donovan, Mitchell Fair
and the guard play. It's gonna you know, that can
wear on you as far as trying to do both.
So I'm gonna take I'm gonna say less.

Speaker 5 (32:40):
I'll go more for Norm. I think he's gonna get
he's gonna get to his buckets.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
Yeah, I'm going more as well.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
With the other two. Definitely, I'm going.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
Less a Wiggins less.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
Half points eighteen and that is his first game back. No, no, no,
this is like it's Darius.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
This is his second or third game there's yeah, he's
been out there.

Speaker 5 (32:59):
Yeah, I didn't see him at the last game he took.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Yeah, this will be his second game back, so less
than for both actually likes those lessons.

Speaker 5 (33:09):
I'm gonna take the lesson for Whigs and less than
for dj.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
I'm gonna go more so for Wiggs and I'm gonna
go more. I'm gonna go more and more for Daris Garland.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
Now, let's continue to walk them down. Guys. The Detroit Pistons,
they just had a great win on the road against Philadelphia.

Speaker 5 (33:28):
These numbers are crazy for tires.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
Oh sorry, are we talking about Sorry I thought we
were talking about the Pistons here in my back.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Let me bring that back.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
The Pistons played the Sixers on Sunday, Battle of the
Top of the East.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
I don't know who could have saw this.

Speaker 1 (33:45):
Even again, we're early days, but even ten days, ten
games in, I don't know that we could have predicted
these two specific teams to be the tannam at the
Top second night of it, back to back. So Joelle
did not play Love the Sixers throwbacks spot away, I'm
very reminiscent of.

Speaker 5 (34:07):
It.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Was dope, Yeah, it was dope, very very nostalgic vibes
and beat is averaging eighteen points in twenty two minutes.

Speaker 3 (34:13):
I feel like they should do that for the Cup games. Oh,
the throwback of the wild ass court. Just have the
throwback court for the Cup games with the throwback so
we know.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the court.

Speaker 5 (34:23):
The court's not as bad as they were last year,
but last year the courts were.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
Yeah, I'm not aficulous courts. Adam said, like people know.
It helps in the sense that people know that it's
Cup games. Yeah, but at the same time, it's just
an eye sore. I guess in person they look way better. Yeah,
but it's just the eye sore TV. It's a lot
so so Joe was averaging, Bro, that's wild. That Minnesota
court is crazyright. It's so gross. I hate the great

(34:50):
joint Brooklyn.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
You can do the throwback and add a little different,
you know, more color to what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Well, it's just gotta be a better way.

Speaker 5 (35:00):
It has. The face when you see that court, just
gotta that's a great.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
I'm Sacramento is not that bad, but yeah, so Philly
Detroit hooping.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Hooping, hooping, But just to get to Philly first, let's
get them out the way, Because we talked about Joell
with the spot minutes and not playing back to backs.
How sustainable is it to play this well while still
integrating a guy who's so important to what you do.
Do you think they could just learn how to play

(35:34):
two ways?

Speaker 3 (35:35):
Yeah, especially in the East, I think it's very sustainable
when you got Tyre's Maxley playing the way Tyre's Maxie's playing,
and then you know, you got guys pitching and Quinton
Grimes doing really well. Kelly right here and there, they
got Jared McCain back, even though he's still slow and
building up his minutes, you know, Drummond give him some
good you know, spot minutes. They got it said it's

(35:56):
the East, so it's pretty open. But uh yeah Joel
at some point. And they got Paul get Pg back
right yeah, to integrate him. People got that what I'm saying.
He was there, but yeah, you can, Well.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
What's our biggest concern about Philly health?

Speaker 5 (36:16):
Right?

Speaker 4 (36:17):
Yea yeah, because now that we've seen an early, got
a small simple size of what they look like as
a team early and you're like, whoa hold on? They
still can add veterans Embiid and Paul George because these
young guys is balling out of their mind. So if
they can continue that production and these Vets and and
OG's could come in and kind of like be the

(36:39):
glue and be like, all right, you know, we just
got to play a role man. I'm telling Philly is
gonna be scary.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
I think Joelle has done a great job of taking
a back seat, picking his spots. Like he's so dialed
in offensively, he's like you like you said, like he's
just roll out of betting get twenty points because he's
just so damn good.

Speaker 5 (37:04):
On seven feet, dominant, three hundred pounds.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
Yeah, like knows how to draw fouls, know how to
do that. I wonder when Paul comes back, though, is
he gonna be fine with just being a role player.

Speaker 5 (37:16):
I think he knows what he's signed up for.

Speaker 3 (37:18):
I think it also, how does it work when the
guy's making fifty million dollars and he comes in and
it's just like, yo, be another.

Speaker 5 (37:26):
Guy paying him for his resume.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
Bro be another guy.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
I hope it doesn't take away from edge Comb sure
as And I think that's another thing that I want
to say. They can stay afloat if he stays confident
and aggressive. I've seen last couple. He seems a little
bit more passive tonight. You know, he didn't seem like
his aggressive self. He still takes some shots, but if
he can, they would have won tonight if he would
have balled that, like if he balled like he know me,
he had eleven tonight. He's starting to slow down a

(37:54):
little bit. Yeah, but if he can still play like
we know he's capable playing and Tyres, they can easily
stay afloat and hopefully when PG comes back it doesn't
take away from his growth. Yeah, but yes, it's sustainable.
If though, if Tyree's and Edgecomb and you got Quin Grimes,
you know we're gonna get from him. But if Edgecomb
as a rookie continues to grow and play well, they

(38:15):
can be you know, they sustaining.

Speaker 4 (38:16):
Pg's value is gonna be kind of like what he
does in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Yeah, I think, yeah, like, all right, let these guys
deveil up. PG.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
We need you to be there when they get money time,
when it's money time, because you know, DJ, he was
a rookie, still talented, but they're gonna need Paul George
if they're ever gonna make a deep playoff run and
they need his experience.

Speaker 5 (38:41):
Yeah, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
It's crazy, but like, go back to those numbers one time,
Chris Tyre's MAXI through nine games them three hundred points
almost nine seventy five sists, thirty seven threes, ten blocks.
Jones James Harden is the only NBA player to reach
those marks over any nine games.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
Fishing and better than AI MVP season. That's kind of crazy.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Yeah, I mean that's forty eight from forty eight from three,
forty eight from the field.

Speaker 5 (39:08):
He's not crazy.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
That's wherever you got on the court.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
He making shots, yeah, and five rebounds the game, he's
rebounding and eight assist the game, just a double as assist.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
Well over the course of the season, the numbers will
come back, don't.

Speaker 5 (39:26):
Come there like Joe comes back, comes back.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
Yeah, he's one of the best shooters in the NBA.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
It's kind of crazy to be what he is on
the ball and still be that silky smooth with the
jump shot. It's just crazy. And Detroit the other side
of this man, Like I honestly came into the season
thinking they had an outside shot of crashing the Eastern
Conference finals. Even potentially like, you know, having an upset

(39:52):
kind of Cinderella run to the NBA Finals. But I
think they've even surpassed my expectations.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
It started off slow, but they've got they starting to
build momentum rhythm. Yeah, and that was a big winter
night in Philly. You know, without some guys, you know
they have a couple of guys out. Uh, but yeah,
kid two points in the first half, finished with twenty six,
twenty eight, whatever. It was big win, close in clutch time.

(40:19):
That's where I think down to stretch him.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
He's so trustworthy with the.

Speaker 3 (40:23):
Ball because that I think that Knick series helped him
to develop that, like be more poors. Just like being
in the playoffs first time there. He's showing his double team.
Come now, I'm cool, Like I ain't tripping, i ain't passing.
I'm gonna figure it out. Yeah, not only making players,
but getting big time baskets down to stretch for them
against Philly.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
Jalen Duran, who we were talking about before the show,
he's having just an incredible start to the season.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
The fact that they can just get that dunk and
Andre Drummond was so crazy. The fact that they could
give it to Duran in the short role and trust
him to make those right reads going downhill on the
three against two.

Speaker 2 (41:06):
He's just been an animal on.

Speaker 5 (41:08):
The board's score every time. If he wants flash is.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Some handle too.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
It's crazy how skilled the guy is physicality, he's just
been incredible. It's just funny. And again, like we bring
up Orlando every shore, at least I do. This is
kind of what we expected Orlando to come out and do,
show like internal improvement, Like they didn't go out and
make the splashy so they did, they did the one
splashy trade, but it was like, oh, internally, we're young.

(41:35):
Our young guys are going to be even better this
year than they were last year. But that's what Detroit's done.
It's like, yeah, we added Duncan Robinson to replace Beasley
as a shooter. Other than that, we rolling the dice
with the same team and it's just the young guys
just showing that they're getting better year over.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
Year and eleven bro nineteen eleven, he's averaging. Yeah, they
got seven, eight guys and double figures.

Speaker 4 (42:00):
But this is I'm gonna look at the East when
it comes down to it. I like Detroit. I like
you know, I like Milwaukee, Chicago is showing some promise,
but like when you really look at it top to bottom,
like who is Detroit's second best player?

Speaker 2 (42:16):
Do them right at the moment.

Speaker 3 (42:19):
These guys that can give you, those guys that can
give you flash at moments Thompson, like Tobias can get
like I'm saying like this, those guys can give you
a twenty maybe in the playoffs, a twenty thirty point game.

Speaker 4 (42:29):
And so this is all that's why I'm favoring I'm
favoring Philly to come out of the East because there's
only two teams that has an All Star at their
second best player, and that's Cleveland, New York, Well.

Speaker 2 (42:45):
New York.

Speaker 4 (42:45):
So those are my three top three teams. And when
your second best player is also an All Star. Because
in New York you got Towns is probably the second
best player. Yes, In Philly, who's the second best player?

Speaker 1 (42:59):
Now Joel's the second MVP.

Speaker 5 (43:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (43:03):
Facts.

Speaker 4 (43:03):
And then we talk about that third team with they
got Clarence Garland.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
Yeah, they got three All Stars.

Speaker 4 (43:12):
Yeah, so we're not when it when it's when it
all the smoke clear, I think those are gonna be
the three teams that we're gonna be looking.

Speaker 1 (43:17):
At and think about Detroit though, is I think maybe
Cade will be so dominant in the playoffs that it
won't matter that he doesn't have a second guy, because
that's always possible to right, Like you just become you
just dominate a matchup.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
So it's kind of like Milwaukee will be honest, right,
exactly who's the second best player?

Speaker 2 (43:36):
Yeah, they haven't done nothing since he left Middletown.

Speaker 3 (43:39):
Yeah, they just middle left. Yeah, And I was looking
at it's like Ryan Rollins right now is the second.
Like he's the one that's playing most consistent, and there's
all the All Star there, Miles Turner, who you know,
it was decent, but.

Speaker 1 (43:55):
There's too much and also destroyed with the Knicks matchupsifically
because they won six games last year. The point differential
in that series was probably like ten points with Detroit
next year was clo.

Speaker 2 (44:12):
It was nothing but close games.

Speaker 1 (44:13):
So it's like, you gotta feel like I'm right there
with these guys if we get into a tight situation
in the playoffs. And so yeah, I've just been blown
away by Detroit and what they've done so far in
Kate is he's taking another step. And you know, I
think we knew he had a great floor game and
could it was like great with the assist and finding guys,

(44:33):
but like his one on one scoring is just becoming
incredible three levels scoring, as they say on the internet.

Speaker 3 (44:39):
I mean that's what the floor games impressed me more
this year because I knew he could score like scoring
I thought was like we knew who could do that.

Speaker 5 (44:46):
It's like, can you get his other guys better?

Speaker 2 (44:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (44:48):
And seeing Jalen durn like take another step is like
that's a that's kid. Allowing him to be able to
trusting his other guys got to be still coming with
the bench like he played a two many game of
k Like those guys as eating off the fact that
Kate is able to find them, draw their attention, you
know what I'm saying, and trust them in the situation,
allow them to make plays and quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (45:08):
So speak shots to Detroit City. Man, they spent so
long being so garbage. I'm so happy. It was a
long time. Like basically since Sea Web was there, they
didn't make the playoffs after that.

Speaker 2 (45:28):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (45:29):
Like two thousand and nine is some crazy shit. Two
thousand and eight was the last time they made the
before time.

Speaker 5 (45:35):
It's been a long time.

Speaker 4 (45:36):
Bro, damn flying bro ever since Chauncey left.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
Yeah, bro, they had they had Sea Web with a
messed up now he had came at the end of that.

Speaker 5 (45:49):
That's run. I remember that. That's crazy. Damn.

Speaker 2 (45:54):
I don't Yeah, I was a was there.

Speaker 1 (45:58):
I don't think ai ay. I might have got a
cup of coffee on that last year, that last situation.

Speaker 4 (46:06):
Remember they traded they from Denver.

Speaker 1 (46:12):
When was the last playoffs? Was a playoff season.

Speaker 2 (46:18):
Nineteen twenty? Yeah they been there? Come on.

Speaker 5 (46:23):
Eighteen nineteen.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
Yeah, y'all playing Detroit? Been there?

Speaker 5 (46:27):
I wonder who was there? Was that drumming in them?

Speaker 2 (46:30):
Man?

Speaker 5 (46:30):
Come on that moos look roster?

Speaker 2 (46:36):
Wow? How this team? Blake Griffin, that's right, Stanley.

Speaker 1 (46:39):
Yes, yes, yes, yes, Ron?

Speaker 4 (46:42):
How did this team make the playoffs? Jeez, lukenar how
did this team even make the playoffs? That's crazy? Forty
one and forty one?

Speaker 2 (46:53):
Casey swept out of there, Get up out of there.

Speaker 5 (46:57):
My bad.

Speaker 1 (46:57):
I forgot this Detroit playoff team. Respect on on on
Wayne Ellington's name.

Speaker 5 (47:08):
Bro, it was solid, it was solid, bro.

Speaker 3 (47:13):
Yeah college Wayne had a career year that then he
played his best basketball in that year lights out.

Speaker 5 (47:19):
Well, yeah they had drum.

Speaker 2 (47:21):
I mean in the least. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (47:24):
Again, happy for that fan base. They even do it
a lot.

Speaker 2 (47:27):
Yeah, it's been a while.

Speaker 1 (47:30):
All right. Let's get into a couple of the fan questions.
Simon Theodore wants you guys to compare your three point shooting.
I guess your styles for.

Speaker 2 (47:44):
Long Brunch.

Speaker 5 (47:47):
A jump shooter. I feel like, what do you mean
by jump shooter?

Speaker 3 (47:50):
I jumped, but I had to take as I got older,
the lifting legs I had to take even now when
I ball, when I play now, I ain't shooting jumpers.

Speaker 5 (47:58):
It's more of a set shot.

Speaker 2 (47:59):
Now.

Speaker 5 (48:00):
Wow, it's just yeah, what about.

Speaker 4 (48:03):
You, Paul, I was always a well early in my career,
I was off the dribble from three, a lot of
off the dribble, and then as I got older, it
turned into like a set shot.

Speaker 2 (48:14):
But what do you mean compared?

Speaker 1 (48:17):
I think they wanted your three points styles. Yeah, we
need a little bit better details of the question.

Speaker 3 (48:25):
Orthodox said mine was a jump shot and I was
more off off of just space, not pin downs. Didn't
run plays with me.

Speaker 4 (48:31):
So I didn't call I could off the dribble, but
as I got older, I was spot up more.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (48:39):
A question from Jay Hearns for you both, would y'all
have liked to play today's game or contend with the
er you played? And I feel like you both played
like last years in the league was pretty close to
what's happening right now.

Speaker 5 (48:56):
I was a.

Speaker 2 (48:56):
Stretch for towards the Yeah. Yeah, in Washington in Brooklyn.

Speaker 4 (49:00):
Yeah, you know a lot of a lot of the
game was hit in that direction where he was having
four round one.

Speaker 1 (49:06):
But I think you would have been a wing today
to though.

Speaker 2 (49:08):
Yeah, yeah, for sure, I would have been out of play.

Speaker 4 (49:11):
I know him, like I couldn't play when I came
into the league.

Speaker 2 (49:14):
No shot, no shot, a security guard strong dudes.

Speaker 4 (49:20):
It was just not But like you know, I can
play in it pretty much any era, belie.

Speaker 2 (49:26):
Yeah, I believe that too.

Speaker 1 (49:28):
And the skill set you bring, Danny like it's still
going to train.

Speaker 3 (49:31):
I think it fun to play in today's eraror because
more fast paced and shooting got threes now that I
but I really appreciate the error because I got a
chance to play with like I said, the tail end
of the old school into the new like so when
it was post and then kind of transition I got
a chance to experience.

Speaker 4 (49:51):
I wonder where I would have ended up on the
all time like three points made list, because when I retired,
I was number four all time And shoot.

Speaker 1 (50:00):
That's crazy. You the number four made three.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
Pointed when I retired.

Speaker 4 (50:05):
Yeah, wow, now I'm probably like fifteen or something like
that happened so fast.

Speaker 5 (50:11):
Yeah, but for real, yeah, like.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
I'm like, way, I slid way down ever since this
new Uh.

Speaker 5 (50:20):
But I know the dude Jay security.

Speaker 2 (50:24):
Dude, let's see uh oh ninth there.

Speaker 1 (50:27):
You go, wow, ninth all two thousand, one hundred and
forty three three pointers made.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
Yeah, I thought I was around fourteen fifteen.

Speaker 5 (50:40):
Oh there go.

Speaker 2 (50:41):
Yeah, that's the more updated. That's fifteen.

Speaker 1 (50:43):
T is still fucking crazy.

Speaker 3 (50:46):
Two thousand threes a lot, bro.

Speaker 2 (50:49):
I was the fourth I was.

Speaker 4 (50:50):
There was only four guys that made two thousand threes
when I when I retired.

Speaker 3 (50:55):
Yeah no those guys now, James three thousand.

Speaker 4 (51:00):
No one's ever gonna make four thousand. Well maybe so
like yeah, people taking it's gonna.

Speaker 3 (51:06):
Be Yeah, nobody shoots at that rate. He shoots you
average like fifteen atensive game, Like I'm.

Speaker 2 (51:11):
Saying, yeah, I guess I don't think he.

Speaker 5 (51:15):
Shoots a hot clip. That's one that's nobody's gonna I
don't think people catching up.

Speaker 1 (51:19):
They're gonna try, you know, and some guys are gonna
catch up the Clay and Dame and Ray and it
probably even James.

Speaker 5 (51:28):
But I don't think people Bro, Deph is done.

Speaker 3 (51:32):
I think Ray and James are pretty They're gonna be
staying top. They're gonna stay top five for a while.
I'm saying somebody will get in there, like Pas, people
will get to the top. They can catch Dame. No
Damon still, Damon will come back and still add to that,
probably get three thousand. Maybe when it's all Sadden done. Yeah, Clay,

(51:53):
I think I think Reggie is the one that's that's
not safe.

Speaker 1 (51:56):
Damn.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
Jamal made a lot of threes.

Speaker 5 (51:58):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (51:59):
Yeah, scary Terry. He didn't even really fully play in
this crazy three point crazy error.

Speaker 5 (52:06):
So that's the Jet scary Tigers.

Speaker 1 (52:08):
Excuse me, Jet, excuse me, Jet party.

Speaker 5 (52:18):
Different type of allegations going on.

Speaker 2 (52:20):
There, could you? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (52:25):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (52:29):
As question, was your favorite player to play against since
you've been in the n b A.

Speaker 5 (52:37):
I mean, I think as a competitor.

Speaker 3 (52:39):
You want to play against the top competition, and that
was always like the best, the best team that was
there or whether it was the Warriors when they had
Katie or Miami when they had Bron and d Wade,
you know, even okay Se when they had you know,
rusting them James when he was in Houston. Yeah, like
having those type of matchups. There was Lob City Clippers like.

Speaker 1 (53:01):
They was got you.

Speaker 5 (53:02):
It was nice.

Speaker 3 (53:05):
Even Boston when they had I was young, but they
had they squad playing against those top teams.

Speaker 5 (53:11):
Man, those are the games you want to do, you
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (53:14):
Yeah, what about you?

Speaker 4 (53:15):
Your favorite player to play against since you've been in
My favorite player to play against, uh was was Michael
Jordan's like to just be able to because you understand
when I got drafted he retired.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
Yeah, you got drafted in ninety eight.

Speaker 4 (53:31):
I was like, two things happened when I retired. Two
things that was devastating for me. Jordan retired and the
Lakers moved out of the Forum because Inglewood and I
was like, my dream was to play in the form. Wow,
both things happened in the same year. So like when
Jordan suited up for the Wizards. I was like, damn,
I get to play against Jordan. That was like my

(53:52):
favorite moment.

Speaker 1 (53:52):
Were you did you make the All Star team that year?
That he had to fade away in the baseline You
was there?

Speaker 2 (53:58):
I was there, yes, and wow yeah?

Speaker 5 (54:00):
Oh was that against against Vince Garden?

Speaker 2 (54:03):
I forget.

Speaker 1 (54:04):
I think Sean Marion was Guarden.

Speaker 5 (54:07):
He took Vince's sparks to start.

Speaker 4 (54:09):
I thought what we should have did was this game
should have been over. We lost that game. Mike made
the game the game, but then after that, I think
they made a shot. I think Jermaine o Neill foiuled somebody.
I don't know if it was Kobe or I remember
watching that, but I thought we should have ended the
game there, but they played it was on like a

(54:30):
few seconds left, and we wound up losing it.

Speaker 5 (54:34):
So you played.

Speaker 1 (54:36):
The Wizards were like average. That's kind of why like
Mike had he was like, I'm tired of watching these
guys mediocre. I gotta like actually helped myself. That's kind
of crazy.

Speaker 5 (54:47):
GM come down to help.

Speaker 2 (54:53):
Making these fries.

Speaker 1 (54:54):
You know how coaches been like I can't go out
and make the jump shots for you. It was like,
actually I can't that's crazy. But do you remember those
Wizards games playing against Man?

Speaker 2 (55:08):
Might went at it?

Speaker 5 (55:09):
Really?

Speaker 1 (55:10):
I could imagine you were talking Greece.

Speaker 4 (55:12):
Yeah, yeah, because, like you understand, the summer before he
came back, we was playing pick up with him.

Speaker 2 (55:17):
In Chicago, So you went down to those Yeah, I was.

Speaker 4 (55:19):
I was flying out to Chicago for those runs and
we knew he was coming back and he was getting
already in Chicago talking ship. I was like, damn. So
he came and made it offish. I couldn't wait. Wait, oh,
do you want.

Speaker 1 (55:35):
Us to do the Cup?

Speaker 5 (55:36):
Yeah? Who won a Cup game last year?

Speaker 2 (55:38):
Milwaukee?

Speaker 3 (55:40):
Milwaukee one, Milwaukee and the Milwaukee.

Speaker 5 (55:45):
Ok.

Speaker 1 (55:46):
I was at that game. I was like, man, okay,
he's gonna have problem with side.

Speaker 5 (55:51):
So this year is who we were choosing? Who the
Cup game winners?

Speaker 4 (55:53):
Right?

Speaker 5 (55:54):
Who's coming out of what's this going on? Oh?

Speaker 2 (56:01):
We used to go at it? Yeah, total total.

Speaker 4 (56:09):
Yeah, we would go at it. I blocked this fade
or something. Wow, he was still good. He was still good.

Speaker 1 (56:22):
Right off the tip.

Speaker 5 (56:24):
Yeah, Eric jump, I'm like that.

Speaker 4 (56:28):
I was guarding a lot looking at the jumps. I
was playing to guard a lot. I think Jordan was
that small for time got him.

Speaker 2 (56:40):
Look, Jordan's still out on the break, Christ running, Yeah,
that's late y.

Speaker 1 (56:46):
Crazy. Yeah, my god.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
Got to play with Jordan's lebron to the line bro
to the Live show.

Speaker 5 (57:06):
Eighteen rest of the team at nine.

Speaker 1 (57:10):
He took the match up personally.

Speaker 2 (57:14):
Don't take that.

Speaker 5 (57:14):
Jordan Stackhouse got the gum to.

Speaker 1 (57:23):
You can't forgot here young that damn.

Speaker 4 (57:31):
That's the Jordan whistle right this, Oh man, just pull up, pull.

Speaker 2 (57:37):
Up, jab you pull up, get off.

Speaker 5 (57:43):
Lethal respect respected. The first step was quick.

Speaker 4 (57:48):
It's like, uh, who is that Bobby Simmons.

Speaker 5 (57:55):
Bobby played with Mike. That's hilarious.

Speaker 1 (57:57):
By the way, Paul Paul's footwork is ready. People always
talking about Kobe Kauhi Mike, like Paul Paul and footwork and.

Speaker 2 (58:09):
Yeah, talking to that's man. You know, we're.

Speaker 4 (58:14):
Gonna work out with Mike and then we'll go to
his house, Like we will go to his house, We'll
go to Towine house and play cards, me and him
Oakley Jordan's.

Speaker 5 (58:21):
Oh let me get uh yep on the break. I
feel like I feel like that's Tony Delk.

Speaker 3 (58:34):
I feel like Paul was deceptive, bro Like he didn't
look athletic, but he na faster than he stronger, more
more hops.

Speaker 1 (58:44):
Yeah, everybody, it was like.

Speaker 3 (58:48):
Damn, we got the first step, the first up he went.
We played on Santoni went by his call to dunk.
I was like, oh ship, I think it was went
by a choir. Was like, what the fun?

Speaker 5 (58:59):
I was like, right, was deceptive, bro.

Speaker 1 (59:04):
Wan Dixon, that's right, crazy, it's the NBA blasts from
the past.

Speaker 5 (59:11):
This is.

Speaker 4 (59:14):
Old school games man man right physical, justny times people
went to the ground already.

Speaker 5 (59:20):
Playing in the mid range.

Speaker 2 (59:21):
Give me that Jordan's playing in the playing in the
mid range.

Speaker 5 (59:26):
Actually had sets plays people coming to that.

Speaker 2 (59:30):
It ain't no.

Speaker 5 (59:32):
Doubling, Paul, Now, bro, it ain't just run the floor
shoot the three is.

Speaker 2 (59:36):
Yes, we had a defensive secondary offense.

Speaker 3 (59:39):
You know what I'm saying, Go get them. Look at this,
a couple of screens, picks, swing.

Speaker 4 (59:44):
Money, no more sets, no more trouble hand off set ball, screen,
one on one, no defensive system, you switch everything.

Speaker 5 (59:53):
Nasty that fake right, go left, bro.

Speaker 4 (59:57):
I used to hate playing San Antonio because y'all would
always do that, that fucking that weird ass trap, that
nobody else did the baseline. I used to hate that
from the base, was just playing all the way on
top of you. You turn right into the.

Speaker 5 (01:00:08):
Double team and be like, what I forget?

Speaker 3 (01:00:11):
Maybe it's Gary called Peyton. So Gary Payton used to come.
He used to come to the baseline and still like
so anytime we front whoever because the trapping the baseline,
it's hard to you never the baseline.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
Guys right there, right there he just made I was
just like, damn, look at that. That's crazy. Look at you.

Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
That's the difference to you got then. That's why Chois
was so bro The hand without dribble so much moretro Yeah,
you have to jump out the dun dunkle ball without
jumping because of the hands.

Speaker 1 (01:00:51):
Over there, he's just placing that thing.

Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
Yeah yeah, that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:00:56):
Yeah, crunch time.

Speaker 5 (01:00:59):
Little to no.

Speaker 2 (01:01:03):
No, I missed this shot too, I think, yeah, God, damn,
damn got mum.

Speaker 6 (01:01:20):
Like, yo, god, damn, Jeorge, you see that ship has elbow.

Speaker 5 (01:01:30):
Hit me stack and my stack and my over here. No,
you ain't getting the shot off, damn. On the team
was I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
You saw him right there? Uh on the bitch in
a suit getting shots damn.

Speaker 5 (01:01:49):
Right in today's game?

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
Oh we have to Yeah, who got Jordan?

Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
Who is that house? At what point in the career? Stack?
Stack young at this.

Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
Point relatively Yeah yeah, yeah, we're around the same age,
kind of like a couple of years older than me.

Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
He's still a young guy.

Speaker 5 (01:02:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
Oh give me that. Ah lost this game? Why over shot?

Speaker 5 (01:02:23):
Stack? Ready to smack the ref? Look at.

Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
Like Jeorde, get off the rim?

Speaker 5 (01:02:27):
Don like move on, bro politics, Bro.

Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
That's crazy. Yeah, Jordan. That was fun was getting to
play against Mike.

Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
All right, we're doing the Cup games. He's gonna come
out of what's gonna come? Who's gonna He's gonna win
the Cup? Who's gonna win the MVP? All right? H
Just just to get us out of here, man, we
want to do some NBA Cup updates. You know, we
had some some great NBA Cup this past weekend. I

(01:03:02):
want to know who you guys think is gonna take
the Cup this year? Who you think is going to
be the most outstanding player of the NBA Cup.

Speaker 3 (01:03:12):
I feel like it's to me the years that the
Lakers won it and Milwaukee won it, they weren't very good.

Speaker 5 (01:03:18):
Sure and the like as a group the whole season
or the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (01:03:24):
So I feel like it's gonna be one of those
random teams that play well early in the season but
then fall like fall off because I feel like after
the Cup game, Lakers really yeah went down, Milwaukee kind
of went down for a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
I think it's gonna be a little bit different this
year because I think they're playing semi finals at home,
which I think will make a big difference, especially for
those semi finals games, so that you're not playing like
I feel like.

Speaker 5 (01:03:51):
It's gonna be like one of those like those teams
that are like you like.

Speaker 1 (01:03:54):
To be honest, man, I like the Pisses because I
think they're gonna take it serious enough, Like what the enough.

Speaker 5 (01:04:01):
Chris who is undefeated the Cup games right now?

Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
Nobody?

Speaker 5 (01:04:07):
Yeah, one to Nuggets, two and one, two and two.

Speaker 2 (01:04:17):
Bakers.

Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
Yeah, the Raptors are not winning the NBA Cup. Guys,
don't worry about that.

Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
I'm thinking like the Houston Rockets, That's what I like that.

Speaker 5 (01:04:27):
I like that as like them or like Spurs Bulls. Nah, maybe.

Speaker 1 (01:04:35):
Because I can see the Nuggets and yok, just straight
up not taking it seriously. Think they're gonna try yeah,
and he made such a crazy competitive guy. I feel like,
you don't play that.

Speaker 5 (01:04:48):
It's gonna be like one of the teams like not Miami,
but I like Detroit, man, I really do.

Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
I like a young team.

Speaker 3 (01:04:55):
I'm thinking, like you know what I'm saying, like when
the random ass teams that come well in the beginning season,
like like Chicago, I want to get some money, man.

Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
Boys, I'm telling Houston Young Boys is hungry like that Houston.
I like that they're finally letting my guy read Shepherd
cook too. Bro had a good game.

Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
I'm Darius's background Cleveland, but to and one a Cup games.
I'm gonna go Cleveland. They need to win something, Cleveland.

Speaker 1 (01:05:22):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (01:05:23):
They need to win something and something.

Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
Bro, it's gonna be your m VP.

Speaker 5 (01:05:29):
It's gonna be done.

Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
