Speaker 1 (00:19):
What's up y'all.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Welcome back to No Fouls Given, presented by Prize Picks.
Of course, I'm Big Wise, joined as always by Paul Pierce,
Danny Green or the Legends in the House. Got another
fantastic show on deck for you guys. So we're gonna
walk him down right now. I wanted to get into
(00:41):
something a little bit different because there's some news of
the day.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Former LA Laker Houston Rocket played on a few teams
in the League, Detroit Detroit Christian Wood. He's a long
beach guy. His home was broken into. He fired off
a few shots at three intruders and they escaped. Nobody
was hurt, they they left or whatever. The news kind
(01:08):
of hit me a certain way because aving is Sherman Oaks,
and I don't live far from Sherman Oaks, Like I'm
one town over from over there. So it's just like wow,
like this is really happening. And then as I'm reading
a news story, they're.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Like, yo, it's been happening, you know, like in your backyard.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yeah, all of.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
These home invasions, and you know, it made me think
about you guys, honestly, because I feel like a lot
of times athletes do become targets for this kind of thing,
and I mean, I.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Feel like they want to take something from you guys.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
I mean, which leads into another topic that's been big
across the country.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
It's like the gun laws.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Right, A big part of my career is in Texas,
so it was very loose out there with the gun laws.
And I think I'm okay with people owning a firearm
if you go through the proper training. You know, it's
easy to do it in certain places. You go like
a little ten hour class and then you give you
a gun. You allowed to buy a gun anywhere. I
don't think you should have access to it like that,
(02:03):
but if you do it the right way, you should
be able to own a firearm.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Well, for this freaking this is the reason like number one,
like these people came into his house.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yeah, we don't know, like if he had family home
that kids kids.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
This is why, Like again what I was saying is
this makes me want to be like, you know, I
need to get back into like the gun range and
like make sure because I got young kids.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
I ain't trying to have.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
Real and mind you don't want to hurt anybody, But
I'm glad nobody got hurt, but you let off some
morning shots. But you should be equipped to know how
to protect yourself if be in that situation because you
don't know what the robbers had, what kind of weapons
they might have had.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
This could be traumatizing though, Yeah, seriously, because like if
they broke in, why.
Speaker 6 (02:44):
You were home?
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Like it was one pm?
Speaker 5 (02:50):
Now, Like how you feeling when you're just sitting around
the house any time of the night, Yeah, any time
of the day.
Speaker 6 (02:55):
Yeah, and you home. I've been a victim of a robbery.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
I wasn't home, and you know it was this in Boston,
was here right here in Los Angeles area?
Speaker 6 (03:05):
Uh, like a year ago?
Speaker 3 (03:07):
That's wow.
Speaker 6 (03:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
So it's like, you know, you get to the points
and where you like, man, I'm like, I want to
sit in my backyard with my gun. I mean, I'm like,
it's one o'clock, Like one o'clock, they just gonna run three,
Like damn.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
If I got kids, I.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
Got family, Like it's dangerous, man, So I just say, man, please,
you know, I don't know what we gotta do or
or what's next.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Yeah, like prevent this, like I mean, got people from
doing this kind of.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
It's funny because I was just talking to somebody recently
about like, you know, I don't know if you visit
the UAE over in Abu Dhabi and Dubai like pretty
strict like Abu Dhabi, if you walk around with a
knife and like you, it's harsher punishments. I'm not sure
if that's the answer, Like I don't know if they
need to change the laws to make it if you
get caught trying to rob somebody like harsh punishments. But
(04:00):
they got to figure out a way to do something
because all the time I hear like people getting their
houses robbed, even stores like jewelry stores or certain i'm
gonna say restaurants, but just this.
Speaker 6 (04:14):
Is like the robbery capital.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
It feels that way because I just saw something of
the day on the news where some people ran up
on into a restaurant and grabbed the dude watch boom.
Speaker 6 (04:24):
Let me get that. Yeah, you know, right there in
Beverly Hills or something.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
And they them their professionals, they kind of like st stocking,
but they're like watch, they're waiting and they either clocking
your home, seeing you leave or seeing what you want.
What kind of watch you got on like they was
stalking this dude saying, oh he got an r M
or he got this. So they knew what they were
going in for and they only took that and they
took nothing else. But yeah, bro, there's gotta be some
type of repercussion.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
What advice would you give to, you know, your fellow
athletes out there in terms of trying to stay safe.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
It's it's tough because really it's sophisticated. These ain't just
casting I like this home and I'm gonna go up
because I was wondering, I'm like, so was this a
random like? Its targeted. It's sophisticated. It's a group of guys,
or not even a group of guys. It's an organization
(05:16):
you know that's out there. I mean it's sophisticated too.
They'll have drones flying over taking picture scene, what times
your cars there and not there and and.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
Really clocking you.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
So to prevent it, I would say this, if you're
a professional athlete, maybe you hire twenty.
Speaker 6 (05:33):
Four hour guard, armed guards in front of your house.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
You know, that could be a solution if you got
the money to afford it, especially when you're out of town,
you know, But outside of that, man, you just I
don't know what else you can do.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Truthfully, I know everybody's different, right, but after seeing it,
and even after seeing the fires, it made me not
want to have anything valuable in the crib. Yeah, and
not walk out the crib and anything valuable, like even
telling life. Like certain places you go, you don't need
to be wearing that type of jewelry. And that's one
of the reasons why I kind of stopped wearing joy
(06:09):
kind of soul like I read like I don't care,
and I didn't care to have it at the time,
but I don't want to be targeted. If you go
out there, people see they know, they're not dumb. They
see what kind of you know, items and materialistic they're experts,
especially here in certain pat Now, if you go to
certain areas like okay, certain events you go to a
ball or an event like a black tie thing or
a wedding, cool, But if you're going out to a
(06:30):
club or barrow somewhere, especially in LA or Chicago, Philly,
like certain places, you don't need to be wearing none
of that stuff. So I know, I'm not telling people
to do with their money. Yeah, and how to wear
like how to operate and how to clothe themselves. But
you make yourself less a target if you don't be
as loud with what you're wearing. So that's just how
I started to move and it was like I can't.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Yeah, man, it's crazy because I'm of two minds.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
I'm like, man, like you work your ass off your
whole life to achieve a certain mind.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah, should be to enjoy your be able to enjoy
the fruit to labor.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
At the same time, like, do you really want to
make yourself a target for these kind of kinds of people.
It's tough, man, It's really tough that that news definitely
struck me.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
When I saw my phone today, I was like, damn,
that's crazy.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
Hopefully everybody's good man and prayers up to his family
Christian Wood and hopefully it's not like a mental fact
sing that.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Like this is the thing too though, Like I wasn't
in my home right, yeah, I steal right now today.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
I'm unsafe, Like you don't feel comfortable, it's like unsettling feeling.
Speaker 6 (07:31):
Yeah, and he was home, so I can't even imagine.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
How did you guys find out that the home was
broken into? Like did you guys, see it on your
security cameras while you were going.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
I was out of town and then I looked at
my phone the next morning, like my Lauren went off,
Oh my god. And then I had somebody to go
to the house and the glass was shattered, and I
saw the whole thing coming in and leaving. I mean
they were in and out in like four or five minutes.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
They had it. Jesus professionals.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Well, yeah, like you guys said, hopefully Wood and his
family are good, all the best.
Speaker 5 (08:05):

Next to some more news items. It's funny how the
news works, like the news business works.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Like media business. I mean we're in it where like
it's just sometimes it's just like the ethics gotta get
like it's gotta get better.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
But the little bit they have to get people to
drive toward the article to read clicks, so they have
to do the big name people.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
So it says Tony Allen is arrested, found with cocaine
and weed.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
Or it was like cocaine or meth and I'm like, like,
what kind of fucking caption is that?
Speaker 3 (09:59):
The way y'all don't know what it was the.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Way that it came up though, Like I'm sitting here
thinking like.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
It's like some Nate Newton type of shit, like like
he's moving weight.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Type of thing.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
I'm like, damn Tony Allen moving Wait, Like that's kind
of crazy.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Then you get into it.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
And you realize that it's like a you know, weed possession,
and I don't know, they didn't specify how much cocaine
they found, but it had to be some like some
minuscule amount because they're calling that possession as well, And
I'm just like, bro, y'all, I get it. He's a
prominent person. He played in the NBA for how many years?
But like that headline kind of killed me.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Yeah, possessed charges of possession of meth or cocaine. I'm like,
the so they don't even know that was the main
It was like, yeah, who sports reported that? And I
was like, that was the main one that came out first.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Then I came out first, and I'm like, what the not?
Speaker 4 (10:51):
My favorite perk spoke on it earlier, so I think
he got more of the inside of the story.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Got you and can you te up the video the
saying that Tony was uh with was actually driving with.
They got the police body cam footage of the gentleman
explaining to the cops exactly what happened, and he's still arrested.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Tony Allen, I.
Speaker 7 (11:11):
Don't have anything to hide from anybody.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
It's a little bit of weed.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
It's probably not even a Graham.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
I'm not worried about that.
Speaker 7 (11:17):
Yeah, it's the other, and I have a prescription. It's
the other that you're talking about field testing. Tony Allen
has absolutely nothing to do with that. Tony Allen has
only been in my car since eight.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Poin forty three this morning, and we came straight here.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
I'm pretty sure that's testing that is probably weeks and
weeks and weeks old.
Speaker 6 (11:33):
And I'm willing to go to your station right now
take a fifth test to prove that I'm not even
doing it myself. But physical control of your vehicle coin.
Speaker 7 (11:41):
And yes, I understand that. I understand that's the charge,
and I understand that's possession.
Speaker 6 (11:45):
I understand that. But I can absolutely promise you, sir,
that is not mine. I do not take cocaine. I
take my hydra conones. I spoke a little bit of
weed because the hyde conoes make me easy.
Speaker 7 (11:56):
But I have a background from being professional wrestled for
fifteen years. That's why when the gentleman opened up my trunk,
you'll see that I have several Jimmy hart Soto's and
several Jimmy hart Sion autograph sunshades. I was the promoter
that ran the Jerry Law and Jimmy HARDIV and Truman artist.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
I have nothing to sir.
Speaker 6 (12:17):
I just did Tony Allen have anything? Tony Hallen has
the show? No, I'm talking about what the cocain. Tony
all has absolutely.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Nothing to do with any event.
Speaker 7 (12:26):
Tony Hallen had some on this person, as you know, sirs,
personal personal amount.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
Tony's got absolutely nothing to do with it.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
I wish I would let Tony go. I am.
Speaker 6 (12:38):
I will take one hundred.
Speaker 7 (12:39):
Percent responsibility for everything in my vehicle.
Speaker 6 (12:41):
Like I said, there was a grindary.
Speaker 7 (12:42):
It's probably got maybe a half a grand marijuana in
it from last night that I just didn't finish off.
Speaker 6 (12:47):
And I accidentally left my pipe in the car. Again,
I just threw everything in and.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Again I.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Don't know, you know, like you've read that headline and
this it's almost like, are we trying to paint a
certain kind of picture of people?
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Yes, it can kind of feel that way.
Speaker 6 (13:09):
Absolutely.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
When I first saw it, I was at dinner with
my kids and I saw it. I wasn't even like
really worried about it because I know Tony, that's like
my brother. We talked at least once a week.
Speaker 6 (13:22):
I looked. I was like, oh that.
Speaker 5 (13:23):
And then when I saw you know who he is with,
I was like, I know, Tony probably had nothing to
do with this.
Speaker 6 (13:27):
I knew off the.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
Top, like you know certain guys if he had a
little tree all right, whatever, you know, outside of that,
I know he didn't have nothing else to do with
none of that other story, like because I actually actually
and so after I saw it on social media, I
got on the phone with some of the bros that
you know, the inside of the situation and explain exactly this,
(13:50):
and it was I was like, Oh, he good, So
it's just crazy.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
He explained all that, and the cops still was like, nah,
we're taking them with us. Got to jam him up
and then still have to put reports out with his.
Speaker 6 (14:01):
Name, and he had I think he had to stay tonight.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
That's crazy.
Speaker 6 (14:05):
Wow, Yeah, he had to stay tonight.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Jesus Christ for some reefer. That's crazy anyway, Tony, allen
hold your head.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
Man free Tony, we got you.
Speaker 6 (14:18):
We got you, killing.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Free t a man moving right along. We're gonna walk
him down, man Lake Show.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
They got it done, man. They find a ways to
win bro even without Austin Reeves.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
So luka doncic thirty five nine boards, like we all
picked him for the over thirty three and a half
just to toot our own horn.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
I mean since he had like eleven twelve, I think
he had.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Something like that. He control the whole game. Me and
Christian were actually at a crypto.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
For the game, and so you were there to watch
the game.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Was it fun to watch the game?
Speaker 6 (14:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Absolutely, You mean that the last the crazy shit that happened.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
About the whole game. The end of the game made
it fun, for sure, But the whole game did.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Was you enjoyed it?
Speaker 3 (15:08):
There was eighty three throw shot in that game.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
I mean, you know what's.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
Both teams shot forty four.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
I feel like it's different when it's a TV product.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
When you're at the arena and the ladies coming to
take your drink.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Or it's.
Speaker 6 (15:30):
Different.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
I'm chopping it up with Paulie.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
I'm like, you know what I mean, Like it was
fine for me, but I understand what you mean with
the whistle. And I think we talked about how like
tight they're calling it early season that that wasn't great.
But I think just watching Luca just be unapologetically great
was just not thing.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
And we expected that.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
I wanted to see more Webby, but we couldn't because
of the foul trouble. Right he found out, Harrison Barnes
found out. I'm like, yo, damn it. Everybody had four
or five files. It was a lot, bro It was
a lot to watch. Now going back to the m
v P Ladder or top three, you know all.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
The ladder shifting. Sg A still in there, but we's
coming out. Yogic is in the top web on the
way out because I mean he had a tough game
against Phoenix and then.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
Two Knights in row, which was not a bad night,
but said the foul trouble and then you could tell
he had troubles getting the ball where he wanted the
ball and they wouldn't let and also the team is
trying to get him the ball, Like they got to
figure out how to get the ball in that spot,
and he has to figure out how to stay and
demand on that spot instead of coming to the three
point line or top of the key and operating, get
on they called karmelong spot in certain places, get on
(16:52):
them alone spot or the post area or elbow closer
to the basket and operate from there. It just you
can tell he's still figuring it out, but team just
starting to throw different things at him. He's it's kind
of junking up the game for him.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Paul, what do you think wemb he should do if
he's having trouble Guys fronting him, you know what I mean,
So he's not able to get the entry pass like
guys are being like very handsy and physical. I thought
I thought it was brilliant that JJ put Ruy on
him instead of I.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
Mean, he saw the the blueprint the night before the
Phoenix they did like roy O'Neill. I think Ryann they
threw different. They threw smaller like big guards, but smaller
bodies on him compared to him to front him, and
it has somebody weeks out behind him.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
Yeah, I think they have to build something around him
catching it at the elbow.
Speaker 6 (17:39):
I think you watch Joker how where he operates between post.
Speaker 5 (17:42):
And elbow to where he gets in the position to
where he can't get double from that spot, and if
he does, it's gonna be somebody wide open and the
corners are underneath and he's in a position also take
one or two dribbles to be at the rim instead
of a lot of time he floats past the three,
ends up at half court and stuff of that nature.
(18:04):
I mean he's seven four, Yeah, he needs one dribble
to get to the rim and.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Then he get offense rebound two from there, like he
can get to the basket and two steps.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
It felt like in the fourth quarter he started getting
he started.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Figuring, trying to himself more, yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
And getting getting the ball.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
I think it's kind of some of it feels like
mentality too.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
Yeah, it's a mature thing. He's definitely gotta he's still maturing.
We're still seeing that how to be consistent, how to
like block out some of the noise.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
But that's their whole team.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
You could down the stretch you could tell they had
no real clutch time poise, right, And that's what Darren
Fox still. Yeah, well, he's clutch time Player of the
Year a couple of years ago.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Is great.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
Even before he got the injury in his hand, he
was doing some clutch time ship for the end of
last year. I know it was against like Washington Charlotte,
but you've seen him. He's a guy that has been
in a situation in the clutch and will be okay
with making a play. Were getting guys settled. Once when
we got off the floor, I knew that the game
was gonna be because he was the only person that
was being certain. And then Harrison Barnes, one of your vets,
your leaders, I'm like that for them to have an
(19:09):
opportunity to still tie the game or win the game
with those guys off the floor to tip it or whatever.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Is that something that refs often called that Mark now
Smart the in and out because he tried to rush
the inbound.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
There was a violation of inbound Mark Smart, he didn't
get his foot behind the line.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
He threw the ship full court. They got a violation
they were.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
Up to that's not called in my bugget.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
The way he did that was kind of crazy, Oh
he did it was kind of crazy. It was remember
Kat was out of bounce hitting the ball. The referees
didn't call it, but his ship was kind of like that.
But it wasn't that bad because Katie had a bound
three steps and hit the ball, and but it was
it was pretty.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
On the opposite end of the We obviously can't see
where his feet on relationship.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
You see it on the tube. It was like, damn
he doing before he even got a bounce.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
He was throwing it before he even you know, and
even when he threw it, I don't think he got
all the way out Like it was.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
It was pretty bad.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
So normally they don't call it, but I feel like
they had to call that one. I thought the tipping,
I didn't realize when I watched it. I didn't know
how much time they put back on the clock. I'm like,
there's not enough time to even foul a guy. When
I saw the clock, it was like point two point one,
and you know, Jake Larivia thousand on the tipping. I'm like,
I don't even know there's enough time to even foul somebody,
so Champagne And also when Champagne got to the free
(20:21):
throw line, I'm like, he's never been a situation before. Yeah,
I'm like, he's going I'm like, and he's a shoot.
He's a shooter, so I'm like, he's a good shooter.
But I don't matter who.
Speaker 6 (20:32):
You are, which this is a Los Angeles.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
It's a tough scenario for this young kid, but he's
gonna learn from it.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
The first one, from get to the second shot, I
was like, if you.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
Make the first one, he's gona be right, but this
first one is gonna be tough. And then soon enough,
I was like, damn, I knew he It was tough
for my fel. He's a good shooter though, and he'll
he'll bounce back from it. But not having Dylan Harper,
not having Darren Fox, but they did get so hand back.
Yeah his first game, Kelly Olynock, I forgot what was
over there. Yeah, they're they're pretty deep team. Man Cornett
is still out. Yeah, Like if they get Coornate olynic
(21:01):
At the big behind Wenby and you got Darren Fox
and Dylan Harper, they're gonna be good.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
So good learning experience from.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
I'm going to get the ball because the Lakers they're
moving bro looking pretty good.
Speaker 6 (21:12):
Yeah, they looking good.
Speaker 5 (21:14):
I'm trying they need to try to find a way
to train Lebron.
Speaker 6 (21:20):
He gonna hold him back.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Hot topic. It's been a hot topic. You know.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
He's gonna ruin the equilibrium.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
I don't think so. I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
I think it only helped, like guys get more open looks,
like Jake Laaravia had a tough game. I think because
Austin Reeves wasn't there. Like if you have Austin and Luca,
now he gets more open looks.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
I'm just saying, though, like you got Luca is the
guy clear and we're seeing what Reeves improvement is looking
like with the ball, the way he play makes. How
do you implement Lebron to what they're doing?
Speaker 6 (21:56):
Now?
Speaker 5 (21:57):
You know what I'm saying, Like, how does that work?
Because I my playmakers are clearly read and Luca, like
Lebron's not a spot up shooter, he's not a post player.
Speaker 6 (22:07):
He needs the ball in his hand.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
But they made it look good last year. They all
three don't have to be at the floor at all times,
at the same time for the start the game and
finish the game. So there's gonna be times where you
can take one of them off.
Speaker 6 (22:18):
But I say it works.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
Bron playing in the dunker and runner he did last
year like more floor playing, playing the good screen. He
was playing the role playing like a Draymond role.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
You know what I'm saying, he could do that.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
He's just he's the best.
Speaker 6 (22:32):
You're trying to turn Lebron is a Draymond.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
Now you just saying.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
I said he could play the Draymond role, like where
he can be the screen of the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
So you're saying Lebron's gonna come back and he's gonna
want to be on the ball.
Speaker 6 (22:47):
Twenty five, seven and seven.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Yeah, that's about right. But he can still do that.
But playing the pick and roll action like him being
the role guy. He playing the dunk or something.
Speaker 6 (22:58):
He throws the ball in his hands at the top.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
You're saying Lebron doesn't know how to adjust his game.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
He had he didn't know the series against Golden State
when they went to the Western Conference finals. Draymond even
his pop was like, yo, I don't know how to
guard this because we've never seen Bron do this before.
Speaker 6 (23:15):
What year was that?
Speaker 3 (23:16):
It's like two three years ago, but they didn't have.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Memphis long ago.
Speaker 6 (23:24):
Had Schroder was I know it was Dangelo and.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Bron gonna come back and he's gonna prove you wrong.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
He's played off the ball, play a.
Speaker 6 (23:32):
Different roster year that they got swept by Denver.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Yeah, but it was Western Conference finals. They won one.
It was sweet. Was the sweet.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
Ye know, they got swept.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
They got to Western. Nobody predicted that.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
But again, now you have Luther with Yes, now they
have Luca, but he's played off the ball before with
that group, and he's played off the ball with Luca
last year or something, So he's a Luca.
Speaker 6 (23:57):
Wasn't there last year and the last when they went
to the conference. I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
So you're just saying Lebron's gonna come back.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
He's gonna demand to play like it's Cleveland in two
thousand and eight again, and he's going to ruin the balance.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
Of Yeah, it's not him out here demanding it. It's
just like I said before his gravitational pool, it's just
he's when he's out there, it's just here Lebron here.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
I think it's more so I can see that by
human nature, they're gonna give him the ball. I think
Austin Reeves takes less of a role in that with
the starting group, but I think he takes more of
a demand. Once he's with that second unit.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
He's going to bring down the contract value of Austin Reeves.
Speaker 6 (24:40):
It may be a good thing.
Speaker 5 (24:41):
And a long for the Lakers because this Austin Reeves
price is way up. With Lebron, it goes down significantly.
Speaker 6 (24:51):
So we'll see.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
And I do I want to highlight JJ Reddick because
I do think he's doing a great job in terms
of this group feels together, like being there, like it
seems like these guys like each other. They like they
each other, they they understand like what their offensive philosophy is.
It's like when this Luca action doesn't work, I'm gonna
(25:13):
come and do this.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
I'm like, okay, Like this is a.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Cohesive offense and group and you know they're piecing the
like I like that they're piecing the defense together where
it's like every now and again, they're zoning up every
now and again, they're making eight and plays super aggressive
on the pick and roll.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
I'm like, damn, this is like.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
I give J.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
I give JJ some love, but I like, I gotta
give credit to the players man for sure, like they
making it happen, like stepping up Nick Junior getting twenty
five DeAndre a and getting twenty nine and like twenty
two and ten against Wenby, you know, Jake Loraven having
a couple of career nights for them, Like they're having
guys Marcus Smart doing the dirty work, like they're hooping
looking for like DeAndre knows is a make a break
(25:55):
season for him.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Marcus Smart knows like it's a make a break They're hooping.
Speaker 5 (25:59):
In this In this offense, though, where do you position
Lebron in the pick and roll with Luca? Like in
the in the basis of the offense, the way is ran.
You got eight and the pick man and rolling.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
It's got so yeah, So look at the one, yeah,
Alston at the two, right, Rory at the three, Brown
at the four?
Speaker 6 (26:20):
Now is he in the corner?
Speaker 3 (26:22):
Nah?
Speaker 6 (26:23):
Does it ruin the to me?
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Bron can Alternately.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
He's a slashing spot. He's like a wing slash.
Speaker 6 (26:29):
So Lebron's the picker now, yeah, and you put the
dun spot.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
But I feel like he can still be on a
on a wing where he's a slash the spot when
somebody drives. You know, he does that when somebody he
does that slash for the dunk type ship. And also
if you have Reeves in a slash spot or a corner,
he could be a pinned down They come off a
double double dh O handoff, and he can be a
roll shake up guy where he is shooting the three
better than his the last couple of years than he
had in his first half of his career, so he
(26:54):
can still shoot the three, and then from there you
can also attack off the catch. You know he's gonna
be attack off the catch. He's not gonna be his
pick much down with.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Luca because he played with Kyrie and they actually perfected this.
Like there's just sometimes Luca's just like here.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Like the ball off the floor, Like Bron is gonna
be running like receiver Bro. Lucas gonna be throwing up
it sometimes. And I was to seem doing last year
at forty, like run the floor, get dunks and out rebound.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Guys in the dunker spot. I'm like, what this MOFFU?
Speaker 1 (27:23):
Really?
Speaker 3 (27:24):
So I was on something.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
I woke up this morning the athletics sent me a
push notification says Lebron is ready, He's ready to start
coming back up. Yeah, so he's he's about to come
back seven and.
Speaker 4 (27:40):
For sure he got time now, like he don't have
to rush them being seven to two like they were like, oh,
Lakers are in trouble. He could actually take his time
and come back end of November and be really ready.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
You know what I'm saying, I don't think we could
be fresh. We got a fresh bron I'm saying, you
seem as you give him two weeks off last year,
just took a week off.
Speaker 6 (27:57):
The chemistry is there right now. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (28:00):
Now you gotta reach that's like going back to training camp.
Now when you implement him into the starting lineup, it's
like now, if they drop a first couple of gamebody's
gonna be like, oh, you know, he's messing up the
got and by everybody you see them, you know, we'll
see all right.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
We gotta get to the other side of the NBA life.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
There's there's those that are having seasons like the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Everything is rosy.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
You wake up in the morning, you want to watch ESPN,
you want to read everything that's being written about the Lakers.
You happy if you're in Maverick's land.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Uh, it's madness over there.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Nico really said this.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
This is this is not Nico. This is a Dumont
the team governor.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Okay, so Miriam Adelson, who owns the team, she basically
put this guy Patrick Dumont in charge.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Yes, but that quote right there, the governor's from Dumont.
Speaker 4 (28:56):
But the quote right there, I think I've done a
really good job. Here was that from this year from Nico?
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Which quarter are we looking.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
At in the middle. Jason Gallagher retweeted, Oh.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Yeah, I think he's just saying I can't recent. No,
I think he's saying, like in his ten uere as
they go.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
To the finals, one year, conference finals, all of that.
I think he's saying, like I've done overall.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
So don't don't judge me by this this year again.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
Yes, but I do want to get to the Patrick
Dumont quote where he says.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
Trading April, so like after the trade, right after the trade, Okay,
April twenty first, twenty twenty five, so.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Patrick Dumont, Patrick Dumont said, quote, trading Luka Doncic was
a decision about the future.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
We got the.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Championship games and we didn't win, so we had to
decide how to get better.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
And I guess this is a new owner with the.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
Yeah, brand new owner and I guess they thought getting
rid of Luka Dontich meant better days for the Dallas
Mavericks going to be ahead.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
They're last in the West.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
They're looking like New Orleans. Bro, this is bad.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
They're dead last in the West, really bad.
Speaker 5 (30:07):
This is how you said a franchise back decades. Yeah,
like seriously, like one move can set it back for
one bad draft pick or one one trade, like they
overthink it, like, well, like what's the what's the You
don't trade a first team all NBA MVP candidate years in.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
A row and he's only twenty five to twenty six.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
It's just like, come on, you would hope that you
would speak to like Patrick would have talked to Cube Cuban.
I'm like, yo, no, let me you should have you know,
let me have a conversation before I make this decision.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Now.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
This is a bad decision all around, and said, I
don't even blame Nico for this because I think I
think this was above him obviously the owners back in this.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Yeah, I think there was a.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
I think with ownership where they were basically eight months
away from being faced with giving Luca a contract of
three hundred whatever millions.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
The big extension. What he's showing he fully deserves.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
For sure, and they're like, wait a minute, we can't
get this guy to come in on shape. Wait a minute,
we asked this guy to do X, Y and Z
and he blows us off. Wait a minute, Like they
felt like that's not the kind of guy you hand
that much money too and that much commitment to. But
like the flip side is like what has he done
on the floor, Like it's been nothing but positive, insane success,
(31:27):
unprecedented success.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
I guess the what if, Like the question is like,
would Luca have been skinny Luca in doubtas.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
I truly don't believe so, I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
So you think it's his career would have taken a
different turn if he did.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
I really do think that.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
I don't think there was any It's almost like the
John Moran thing that I was saying, like they've never
been able to basically tell him what to do, but he's.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
Never been Zion where he's been hurt every years so
far that far out of shape. I feel like he.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
Injuries the last about.
Speaker 5 (31:58):
The guys, the cat, like even if he wasn't skinny,
looka in Dallas thirty thirty nine and nine. Hearing these
numbers thirty nine and nine league like in Dallas, y'all
taking that?
Speaker 1 (32:16):
Come on, that's this And you know because like because.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Nico, he's got the whole Kobe connection. Obviously he was
Kobe's guy, Nike and all of that. And if you
spend a lot of time with Kobe and you see
like his his level of work ethic, I can understand
what somebody would say that's the model for superstar success.
Speaker 6 (32:40):
Paul's is like bro thirty nine and nine.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
And he plays all your y'all plays all year.
Speaker 6 (32:48):
Round, saying I'll take it. This is nuts.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Yeah, trying to present the Dallas point of view.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Obviously I don't.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
Is making RP look great? Rob Polinka he looks like
a genius.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
Yeah, Rob, Well, you know what we overwrapped it was
smart enough, Like, yes, Dallas is in the last place,
But we gotta ask was the trade of Luca a
long term goal or did they feel like they can
still compete when they made the trade.
Speaker 6 (33:20):
You know what I'm saying that they thought they could compete,
but like you can't think you can't think that.
Speaker 5 (33:28):
Llas, Yeah, they was they saw so like, we can't
I see what they expected him to a D.
Speaker 4 (33:36):
But if Ad, if Ad came in skinny on some
Luca skinny ad type, which it didn't happen, so like
not saying that he was out of shape, but he
didn't come in like you know, I'm about to be cool.
Speaker 5 (33:47):
With Cooper playing the point though I'm trying to develop
him right now.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
This wouldn't be a convererce if eighties was healthy all
the time, was in great shape, if he looked like
eighty that we saw early Laker days or New Orleans,
this would be a different conversation. So they pretty much
banked on if we trade for a D, can we
get him health like do you have the medical staff.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
To keep him healthy?
Speaker 1 (34:10):
Aging and get him.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
And but it's like we got a win to win championship,
and I feel like with this person we could win
in the next two three years. We can win the
championship with Gafford, Lively, Kyrie Clay. Now again, Kim's put
a whole bunch on a D because everybody else not playing.
Kai's not there right now. Cooper Flag is still trying
to he's a rookie. Clay is having a rough year
right now, Like everybody is having a tough time right now.
(34:33):
But that's what they were banking on A D's health
more so than anything, and that's a tough thing. As
he's getting older, it's a tough thing to bank on. Yeah,
but you know you better have the best medical staff
in the world to make sure he's where he needs
to be.
Speaker 5 (34:47):
Right division the way is looking right now. If I'm
Dallas Mavericks, I'm looking to trade a D play to
get into the lottery with this deep draft class coming up,
and see who I can deal with Cooper Flag Like,
that's that's if I need.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
You train, you gotta trade everybody. You gotta trade Ki.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
I don't think they I don't think you play first
pick this year.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
I think that's that's another.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
At what point do you shut it down? And at
what point do you give this group until you're like,
all right, we're gonna just.
Speaker 5 (35:20):
Right now, really yeah, right now, November six, right now, listen,
like I got a way to obviously ad show he
can play some more and not be hurting so his
value can come down.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Wait till it's at least twenty twenty six, I give it.
You want to give it a whole season.
Speaker 4 (35:37):
No, this is I ain't coming back to like end
of December January, right, yeah, I gotta give it the
full season.
Speaker 5 (35:43):
I mean still, what is your expectations for this team
before the season started? What what was your expectations Conference finals?
Western Conference Finals? Yeah, before the season started.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
No, yes, And I don't think I'm alone in that,
Danny stop. Everybody's looking at a d with this.
Speaker 4 (36:04):
So with Lively and if Kyrie coming back with Clay,
Like with Cooper Flag, everybody the hype Cooper Flag coming out.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
People thought Cooper Flag was like, yo, we got cool.
They got one to see.
Speaker 6 (36:16):
I had him six seed that best.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
I think that's easy to say right now. No, name
the teams.
Speaker 5 (36:22):
I can name the teams I had ahead of them
before the season started. Had obviously okay, see Denver, Minnesota,
Houston off the jump.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
So you had him at five, Clippers and Lakers.
Speaker 6 (36:37):
I think I had Clippers and then maybe.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
That Okay, see I had Denver and I had that
broke once they got the number pick and got Cooper Flag,
most people had him at.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
Three or four.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
No, No, no, maybe publications.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
I'm not.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
I don't think I'm in like the minority here, I
had him six that best Western Conference finals was never
in the cards.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
For this team.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
And had nobody had Minnesota above them?
Speaker 1 (36:59):
They don't.
Speaker 5 (36:59):
I haven'tbody had Minnesota, but they have no Yes, everybody,
they have no guards was showing now they signed.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
Was out. Yeah he's coming back soon though because.
Speaker 6 (37:11):
Not at the beginning of the season.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
When Kyrie said he's coming back soon, that doesn't mean
that that was Actually.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
Most people predicted him to come back before like Christmas,
and they thought Ad would be able to with Cooper
Flag and that front line of Lively. Guess gaff had
been out, but Gafford Lively a D PJ Washington who
they just signed extension, get d Lo, you get uh,
got Clay there, you got a loaded team for the season.
Speaker 5 (37:35):
Most people would have been the number one who's the
number one or let's say the healthy who's the number
one option?
Speaker 3 (37:39):
A D.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
A D is not a number one option, like he's
not a creator like somebody.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
Has that was before kay got back like a D
until Kyrie gets back.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
So once k is back as.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
A D, kyrieuser one.
Speaker 6 (37:54):
Yes, neither one of them has been the number one.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Kyrie time his life has never been a number one
for anybody and now.
Speaker 6 (38:04):
Brief, brief second in Boston. Yeah, before he got hurt.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
Them together combined is a very good one A one
b It sounds good, but that's why you also surround
him with PJ.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
Washington.
Speaker 4 (38:15):
You extended for ninety million, you got Gafford and Lively,
you got Clay, you got d Lo coming off the bench.
You got Flag, the number one pick that everybody thought
was gonna be the best thing bad.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
But he's a rookie.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
I understand. It don't matter.
Speaker 4 (38:26):
You still thought the impact of Zion, we've seen an
impact of Zion when he first started hoping. People thought
that impact we've seen one be as impact. People looked
at Cooper Flag, he was gonna.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
Have impact right away, type of impact, not the similar.
But they thought he would come in and have an impact.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
Not the same as Zion.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Bro He was comparing him to Grant Hill, like he
was one of the best duke to come out.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
I'm not no, like I thought he was great.
Speaker 5 (38:50):
I thought it was great, but I thought, yeah, he's
one of the best duke players that come out.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
He could be a really good rookie like and people
thought signs and flashes for the future and don't go
to the playoffs and help teams win ever they number
one pick or not, like whoever.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
You That's why, that's why people thought it was gonna
be good because he's coming to Dallas.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
It was already a good team, you know.
Speaker 5 (39:09):
Way in comparison for him was and I said this
many times, and when he was in college and the league,
I said, my player of comparison with him was Andrew Carolinko.
Speaker 4 (39:18):
Sure, okay, that sounds more realistic to me, but everybody else,
not everybody else in the world was thinking that I was.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
I said, they were put him in a conversation with
Grant but they.
Speaker 6 (39:30):
Andre Carolinka, who was a very good player in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (39:32):
Fact, I was thinking like the more recent like Gordon Hayward,
like that's who I saw he can grow into. But
they're looking at Grant Hill Jason Tatum like they were
predicting him to be in that conversation of like produce
like not production, but grow into that.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
It's he still can. It's still early.
Speaker 4 (39:48):
But they thought being on a team like that he
would have a good impact because he's not on a
bump team where everbody could just throw everything out. You know,
I'm saying he's not on a bad team where everybody
could just trap him and he'd be the focal point
and targeted.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
I mean to me, that roster was always unbalanced. It's
still got three cents.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
It shows that. It's showing it now.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
But he's a freaking this whole A d playing power
forward is ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (40:14):
Admit I was wrong, but I don't think again, I
don't think I'm in the minority here. I had him
in the top three. Like I had high expectations for
his dull team before the darting season.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
I was like, playing they're playing team.
Speaker 4 (40:25):
But started season starting, they showed him at the point
guard and they're damn we have no guards.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
Nobody's guards. Everyone's like, yo, this looks.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
And even Kyrie comes back, you can't expect him to
just pick up where he left off at pre injury.
There's going to be a pretty decent long adjustment period
of him getting back into his body and trusting his
body again.
Speaker 6 (40:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (40:45):
Maybe so, But Kyrie's had injuries before, and every time
he's coming back, he's looked Okay. He's not one guy
that I've ever had doubt I don't look at him
as like, oh Joe embiid, how's he going to be moving?
Guy's a stopping go shifting like guy and he's always
been that now, I said, we've seen it happened with
Kemba Walker, but this is not like a hip issue,
So I don't know like how that worked for him.
But kay, I fully expect him to be okay when
(41:09):
he comes back.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
I hope he gets back soon because it is sad
as all hell in Dallas right now.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
Man, we gotta we gotta get a crystal ball out.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
Here because he has been on a fucking Because we
were looking at run Bro, unbelievable run Bro in Portland Bro.
Speaker 2 (41:30):
We're trying to find their first loss, and maybe three
seconds into looking at the city.
Speaker 3 (41:36):
Said Portland, he said back to back.
Speaker 6 (41:40):
Because it was just like the flight.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
Listeners shot to do that. Check too, right, said check
you play, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (41:52):
You play back to backs and I don't care who
you play. And then you're playing a young team who
gonna get up and there they're playing hard, and then
you get because people don't understand, Yeah it's Portland cool,
I get it, but like fatigue kicking, you're flying out
You're probably not getting into like two three in the morning.
Your prep is gonna be minimum at best. You're gonna
look at some film. It ain't like going through a
(42:12):
real walkthrough, you know what I'm saying. You need to
walk throughs. Like, but when you when you look at
film and say, all right, this is the game plan
that you go out there, it's it's difficult.
Speaker 6 (42:25):
Yeah, And I was just like, this is a set
up game.
Speaker 5 (42:28):
It was a setup game, like it was a trap
because I didn't play it on on them type of
games where we supposed to beat them, but we had
no rest, no practice.
Speaker 6 (42:38):
And this is an NBA team.
Speaker 5 (42:40):
Who's going to show up eventually, they get paid, they
get paid to Portland is shown that they're decent. They
ain't looking like the Pelicans or the Mavericks. They're actually
kind of So that's why I said, uh, Portland, and
you know they actually you know, okay, should have won
(43:02):
that guy.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
Yeah, if played I think it might be a little different.
Speaker 6 (43:05):
Even if didn't play.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
It was twenty It was crazy. You holiday rained seven
threes or something like that. It was it was crazy
because we were talking about it too, and I was like,
it doesn't have to be some incredible team that knocks
him all. This might be a night with somebody's in
foul trouble. They can't miss from three, you can't make
your threes.
Speaker 1 (43:24):
That kind of thing.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
And then they got got toy lost their first game
of the season. Finally, but shake gilges Alexander has scored
twenty plus points as of last night in eighty straight games.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
This is the third.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Longest streak ever, behind only two streaks that Will Chamberlain
has well. The record is one hundred and twenty six
games to do this, Like, I have no reason to
believe he can't do this.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
I don't think he's the dude is a metronome, he's
a machine.
Speaker 3 (43:57):
He's locked in.
Speaker 6 (43:59):
This is what a lot of things have to go
right for him too.
Speaker 3 (44:02):
Yeah, he's gottaought.
Speaker 5 (44:03):
You would have thought like Lebron Mike would have like
kind of been on the streak like this, but like
something happens where you jam yo toe in the first
quarter and you're done for the game.
Speaker 6 (44:13):
Jimmy, so something like that. But if he if he's healthy,
I don't see why not.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
There's just no way to stop this guy from getting
twenty points in a forty eight minute game unless he's.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
Him stopping himself or like an injury happening, so something
has to go wrong. I don't think he catches both,
though there's a reason why that that one of those
records has been last last for a really long time.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
I think it gets close, though, I think it's I
think it's.
Speaker 4 (44:37):
Over one hundred. He might get over one hundred games.
I think it's over one hundred. But yeah, I don't
think he's catching well.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
But even still, like.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
The equivalent of a season, an entire season, you can
go to the next season, you play eighty games. It's
like looking at your your game logs and you never
went for the whole year underneath twenty Yes, pretty.
Speaker 4 (44:59):
Much he I did it for almost a full season.
But I'm also I'm surprised Luca streak. Like, there's a
lot of guys that can score the ball at an
easy clip, get to the free throw line, lucky, get
to the free throw line, very strategic.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
What else do we think has even the capability of
getting the streak?
Speaker 6 (45:16):
Why hasn't Lebron done it?
Speaker 5 (45:18):
Had Maybe it's something that happened in the game when
they couldn't finish the game, you know, what I'm saying,
because they're not.
Speaker 6 (45:24):
They're scoring twenty for sure.
Speaker 1 (45:25):
Yeah, if they're.
Speaker 2 (45:26):
Playing, yeah, maybe a blowout or something that you don't
even play the whole fourth quarter or whatever.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
But yeah, this is just a When producer Chris brought
this up, I.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
Was like, this is just one of the that's only
happened if they get if they blow somebody, he'll play.
Or if they blow they get blown out and injury
or injury. And it's like he played, you don't have
to play the third orold quarter because we don't want
to get hurt. We're up forty by halftime, No, for sure.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
And it's not the kind of streak where you tell
the coach keep me in. It's like, it's fine, I
lost my twenty point streak. All right, man, Let's get
to our favor part of the Night, Picks of the
Night presented by Prize Picks. There's some NBA Cup action
coming up. We got the Rockets, its man, We got
(46:13):
the Rockets at the Spurs.
Speaker 1 (46:16):
We have Wemby twenty five and a half more than
or less than.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
I told you all that Wenby less than was coming
in against them Lakers.
Speaker 4 (46:30):
He started off the season so Yeah, he came out hot,
bro looked like he could score, Like he is very
capable of scoring.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
Yes, but he's not the consistent team. Yes, And they
have a lot of big bodies.
Speaker 4 (46:44):
So I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go with less
than they got sangoone, they got Steven Adams, they got
got Katie who's like one of their worst rep Like
he's seven ft. He's probably the worst defender or rebound
on like.
Speaker 1 (46:56):
And you talk about length and ller May Kate, I'm and.
Speaker 4 (47:00):
Thompson Garden on the perimeter. You got singing and Steven
Ies behind him with KD.
Speaker 6 (47:06):
You know so, and he played a perimeter. Ain't like
he dominated them.
Speaker 3 (47:11):
No, And they got some guys at the bench that
are pretty solid.
Speaker 5 (47:14):
Who's been struggling lately. He's not dominating the post. He's
been floating. Yeah, and saying that I'm gonna go more.
Speaker 1 (47:23):
He's going to have a breakout game more than twenty
his bounce back game.
Speaker 6 (47:27):
It'll be bounced.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
Back KD more or less than twenty five twenty four
and a half. Yeah, Kady is even lower than women.
Speaker 4 (47:35):
Yeah, that's a good one because they got the gout.
Other threats have been scoring well, like I'm Tomson like
twenty eight other night.
Speaker 3 (47:40):
Yeah shots, I'm gonna get some buckets. I'm gonna go more.
I'm gonna go with you more so too.
Speaker 5 (47:46):
I think they're gonna need him to more than I'm
gonna go less, because I think KD is starting to
realize he doesn't have to score guys stupid. I mean
the last game I believe he had like nineteen and stuff,
and he's like, look, I got some young hitters over
here that that can carry me through the regular season.
I'll have special games here and there. So I'm gonna
(48:06):
go less.
Speaker 3 (48:07):
I think the special game is coming.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
Stefan Castle more than less than nineteen and a half.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
He's been hooping, bro. I'm going more, y'all take more.
He's one of my breakouts year. He's been balling, bro.
Speaker 1 (48:19):
He's not afraid to shoot the ball.
Speaker 4 (48:21):
He's confidencive, aggressive, He the free throw line more. Yeah, yea,
So I'm gonna go more. Like he's the reason why
that they also been playing so well because without Darren Fox,
he's been the guy.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
Yes, he's doing most of the ball handling, like you
know they've been doing to go underneath the screen on him,
and he's just not scared to let it fly more
or less than.
Speaker 5 (48:41):
Oh, Stephan Caston, I'm gonna go less. I think the
athleticism is going in the lymph of Houston is gonna
give him a problem with the speed.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
Shn Goon nineteen and a half SANGUINEI I'm I'm more.
Speaker 6 (48:54):
I'm definitely going more with him.
Speaker 3 (48:55):
Okay, Yeah, I'm gonna go more with single, more with
is Mere, with.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
Devin for Sale fourteen and a half, more or less than.
Speaker 3 (49:04):
I'm gonna go less less for me too. But yeah,
if Sega scored on his shoot. But I feel like.
Speaker 5 (49:11):
He's gonna be the odd man out out of Skott Report.
He's gonna be left open.
Speaker 6 (49:15):
I'm gonna go more.
Speaker 3 (49:16):
I feel like he's getting less shots this year than
he was in the past.
Speaker 6 (49:18):
More he can get you fifteen. He had a good
game last game.
Speaker 1 (49:22):
Men Thompson one of my favorite players to watch.
Speaker 3 (49:25):
He had a good game last game.
Speaker 1 (49:27):
Yeah, really good game. More or less than seventeen and
a half points.
Speaker 3 (49:31):
I'm gonna go last time. How much I'll go First,
I'm gonna go less.
Speaker 1 (49:35):
I'm gonna go less.
Speaker 6 (49:36):
I like what our man's been doing. He had a
twenty point ball game the last time. My song I'm
gonna go more, I'm going less.
Speaker 3 (49:44):
I think the twenty eight was a good night.
Speaker 2 (49:47):
Prize Picks is having fun with us because he just
had that nice game. They trying to rope you in. Yeah,
I'm not gonna fall for the gas what I'm saying.
So I think he had a good game. Now it's
like he's gonna come back down to life and get
his like a little twelve to fourteen real be right
at fourteen. So let's get into some rankings really quickly, y'all.
With Jeff TG and the homies.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
UH.
Speaker 2 (50:10):
They said that Donovan Mitchell is the best two guard
in the NBA. Anthony Edwards is number two. Teque says
that A has the personality and the aura and the
and the swagger, but Spider Mitchell makes it look easier
than AE.
Speaker 1 (50:27):
Who's the best two guarden. Who's the best two guard
in the league.
Speaker 6 (50:30):
Guys, for me, there's only one guy on this list
that UH.
Speaker 5 (50:38):
Is an NBA champion the Finals MVP and he's playing
without quote unquote what some would say, it's their best player,
and he's been dominant I'm going with Jaylen Brown. That's
not a bad He can do it on both ends.
We already know how he is defensively. Well, we haven't
known about Jayleen Brown.
Speaker 3 (50:57):
Is it.
Speaker 5 (50:58):
Can he be a number one option And he's showing
that this year because every time I look up when
I lose, he's around the thirty point mark every night.
Speaker 1 (51:06):
I can't. I'm shocked you picked the Celtics.
Speaker 6 (51:08):
That's crazy. I mean, I just explain to you why.
Speaker 4 (51:17):
Now he's getting bucks. He's getting bucks. I like Donn
a lot, but I don't think he's the best two
guard in the league. And I think he has on
his own taking a step back because he didn't have
to do as much with Darius and the emergence of
Evan Mobley. Like, he can score, and he can do
it efficiently and he's good. But again, I think the
(51:37):
other guys are probably better two way guys.
Speaker 3 (51:39):
You know what I'm say. Jaln's probably a better two
way guy.
Speaker 4 (51:43):
But for me, I think that the purest scorer out there,
and he has been to the finals, he hasn't won one,
But to me, the pure score is probably booked mm hmm.
But Ae, I think Ae and Book are the same conversation.
For me, I like Anthony Edwards, but I just think
he needs more consistency, more maturity. He's getting there. He's
(52:03):
the more exciting, He's the most exciting two guard, but
I think the most polished one.
Speaker 3 (52:08):
I think I'm gonna go with Book.
Speaker 1 (52:09):
I think Anthony Edwards is the best two guard in
the league.
Speaker 2 (52:12):
I think he's the He's the only guy on this
list that defenses in the playoffs like he puts defenses
in distress when he has the ball, and like these
other guys, like team's got a game plan for you,
but it did not in panic mold when Donovan Mitchell
(52:32):
has the ball and and then defensively.
Speaker 3 (52:35):
He's a good player.
Speaker 4 (52:36):
He is, but there was times maybe this was finched,
but there was times it was just easy to double
him and get the ball out of his hand and
he would not get it back. So like they were
one of or worst teams in fourth quarter or in
the clutch and fourth quarter point like I think, I.
Speaker 1 (52:50):
Think that speaks to his dominance that guys or blitzing
the man half.
Speaker 4 (52:56):
Lucas gonna find yoga there, you would have you would
have conversation, you find a way, Michael Jeffrey Jordan was
gonna find way like I.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Can't just give given to the defense.
Speaker 1 (53:09):
I'm not mad at that.
Speaker 3 (53:10):
I feel like book was.
Speaker 1 (53:11):
Still Booker's your number one.
Speaker 3 (53:14):
I feel like he's more polished, so he's your number
one one.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Jaylen Brown Anthony Edwards that I love that we disagree
on that.
Speaker 6 (53:22):
I mean, it's only one of the out of one
all of them. It's only one champ.
Speaker 1 (53:25):
Though, Okay, true the finals. I'm great in that series.
He literally was.
Speaker 3 (53:35):
It's a good argument.
Speaker 1 (53:37):
It's a good argument.
Speaker 6 (53:37):
It's a good and what he's showing.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
Now, let's get into the Mount Rushmore now shooting you
guys to pick your Mount Rushmore to the four best
shooting guards ever. Wow, I think there's two guys that
are obviously we don't even need to have the discussion.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
Mike and Kobe's discussion has nothing to even talk about.
Speaker 4 (54:02):
The next two is gonna be tough, bro yah Ai
in there shooting hard all time.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
So I think d Wade, honestly.
Speaker 3 (54:09):
You can put pencil then, I think I think d
Wade for me is he's definitely he's in there. He's
in there. So he's got three championships, three championships.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
One finals, MVP, eleven All Stars.
Speaker 3 (54:25):
Yeah, the top seventy five times, So that fourth one
all NB as.
Speaker 6 (54:31):
Bro It's not even the hardest, it's not.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
Wow. So you don't even have to consider James Harden.
Speaker 5 (54:44):
I'm just going off, Like I saw Allen Iverson carry
a team to the finals that was like, had no
business being in the finals.
Speaker 3 (54:52):
Okay, but they had a defensive player year six minute year,
like that was the year they had all those guys.
No out the East.
Speaker 6 (54:59):
I played agains these guys like the next year was.
Speaker 4 (55:03):
The strong strong, That's what I'm saying. So they came
out these they didn't. They got swept in the finals,
but they they could that. I'm wondering what the playoff
match they played. He couldn't like, but he's blocking shots.
Speaker 5 (55:16):
Blocking shots, and rest in peace to Matombo. But Tombo
couldn't score the ball at all. Okay, And then who
is the second best player? Was the second best player? Yes,
he was a All Star. He was the defensive player
of the year six many years.
Speaker 3 (55:31):
Was was mcke and key Okay, George, they had they
had to play against guy guy again.
Speaker 5 (55:46):
Solid, they were solid. They were like rough necks. No,
they were built on defense, and Iverson carried them. He
had to go for fifty and sixty for them to win.
Speaker 4 (55:53):
Okay, But again, also like the opponents he went through,
Vince didn't have nobody Like the playoffs, they went through
the Toronto's Vince, they had nobody on it.
Speaker 3 (56:02):
It was them too. They were like, did they go
seven games in that series?
Speaker 1 (56:05):
Vince? Vince on this list for you?
Speaker 4 (56:08):
I like Vince, but I'm going Rgie Miller because I'm biased.
I played against him. I'm going James because I think
he's one of the hardest guys I ever lace up
the like lace him up. He's one of the best
scorers of the game. Now, his resume in the playoffs
and winning may not be there a a I ain't
won one yet either, But James was one of the
coldest mother fuckers.
Speaker 1 (56:27):
It's about winning for you.
Speaker 6 (56:28):
How do you help your team win?
Speaker 5 (56:32):
Like, I don't like James is an amazing player, Tracy
Vince amazing players. But I saw Iverson gets to the
finals and get a win. Yeah, like versus the Lakers,
that one loss the whole playoffs.
Speaker 3 (56:46):
That's the only only team to get one loss and
they scored like fifty on them or something.
Speaker 1 (56:51):
I'm just I just think Harden's production is just underappreciated, Like.
Speaker 3 (56:56):
And he's transitioned into two different.
Speaker 2 (56:59):
Production is, especially during the Houston years, where like you
can pencil him in for fifty wins every year just
because Harden was out there with.
Speaker 1 (57:08):
Compella. No, these teams are not that good.
Speaker 2 (57:10):
Don't matter if it's Compella, don't matter if it's Howard,
don't matter if it's you know, they got Chris Paul
that one year when Chris Paul still his body was
still cooperating, they won sixty four games. Like they took
they took kat and them to the brink seven games. Okay,
the Warriors, Katie probably the best team we've ever.
Speaker 5 (57:28):
Seen list to this though, So let's look at this
list right, take all of their regular season out judge
them this on playoffs.
Speaker 3 (57:37):
I think I think that's not the question, though, regul
this is where the This.
Speaker 5 (57:42):
Is where you become that guy in the playoffs, right,
Ain't that where you become the guy?
Speaker 6 (57:47):
Why is Jordan the best ever?
Speaker 5 (57:48):
Because what he did in the playoffs in the finals,
and why Coleby because he got five rings. Yeah, like, okay,
why d Waye because he got three chips? What he
did the playoffs? So let's take the regular season now
out and talk playoffs.
Speaker 1 (58:02):
Who you got playoff resume?
Speaker 3 (58:04):
I get why AI playoff first?
Speaker 5 (58:09):
I mean, okay, Ray will have an argument. You can
throw Thomson already have an argument. And so lit's like,
come on when the chips fall down and say let's
get to it. We're in the foxhole. Who want to
get down? Who who's going home and who's not? I'm
trying to get I got kids at home. Who's going
(58:29):
to help me get home?
Speaker 4 (58:30):
So this goes back to this goes back to the
same question that we had, like when we had the
KDE Steph come you asking for the game for your life?
You're picking step that my life, Harden in his prime
or AI the step Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're asking that.
Speaker 3 (58:48):
That's that's a gooffer question though two hard and m
v P versus O one iverson again. No, you could be,
you could be a better player, but not my class.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Would be hardened.
Speaker 6 (59:01):
Bro, I don't respect your opinion.
Speaker 1 (59:05):
So we got to tell him the game that my
life and not his.
Speaker 3 (59:09):
He might usually wait for your life you're picking James
over A.
Speaker 4 (59:12):
Probably probably, I think that's a different question though, Like probably,
I feel like A is probably more clutch than James,
especially in that setting in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (59:22):
But I think James was the.
Speaker 1 (59:23):
Better overall players, more production.
Speaker 3 (59:25):
Just like when you said Kate and step I think
is not more efficient.
Speaker 5 (59:29):
Bas we're talking about that, We're not talking about overall
your impact on winning. Because we want to talk about
an overall player, then we got Michael Jordan, Kobe, Tracy McGrady.
Speaker 6 (59:40):
If you want to just talk about the player.
Speaker 3 (59:42):
I'm talking about, there also the body of work.
Speaker 1 (59:48):
Asking chat G B T to break the tide for us.
Speaker 4 (59:51):
Full this is a different question for your life. I'm
not I would pick Ai, but for Mount rushmore.
Speaker 5 (59:59):
A eight postseasons, twenty nine a game in the play
I'm done with this conversation.
Speaker 6 (01:00:06):
I'm done for this conversation.
Speaker 1 (01:00:08):
Get the fuck out of it.
Speaker 6 (01:00:10):
I'm done with this conversation with y'all.
Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
But look at that James has played in one hundred
and seventy three.
Speaker 3 (01:00:15):
Playoffs, double the postseason. Sixteen postseasons.
Speaker 1 (01:00:18):
He's played in one hundred seventy three playoff games. That's
the type of teams that he's nade those kind of teams.
Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
He's never missed the playoffs. I don't think.
Speaker 1 (01:00:27):
But AI averages thirty in the playoffs is kind of crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
He has fourteen seasons as missed the playoffs with six times.
James has never missed the playoffs sixteen seasons.
Speaker 6 (01:00:39):
Hey man, I'm taking James James.
Speaker 4 (01:00:42):
I'm taking James for the Mount Roshvelle. But Ai in
a clutch situation, I'm probably taking Ai for like the
game for my life.
Speaker 6 (01:00:48):
That's crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:00:49):
I'll probably go, yeah, like that's that's a different question.
It's a different conversation.
Speaker 6 (01:00:53):
The four guys a game for your life right here?
Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
Who Jordan's got to put it right in that conversation honestly,
when it comes to being clutch.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
Game for your life at all of.
Speaker 6 (01:01:07):
Them or just for the fourth Kobe and Jordan's out
the Game for your life? Who you're taking? Oh, d
Wade Okay, d Wade out? Uh yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:01:21):
We're talking about in their prime though, in their prime
right now today when on the counch, No, no, you
want me to take the game for your you're.
Speaker 3 (01:01:31):
A dead man.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
No, no, no, I'm going with Tracy McGrady Honestly, Chasey McGrady,
I think at his peak before the injuries, like you
can put him with all of these guys.
Speaker 4 (01:01:45):
Honestly, yo, Clay might have an argument, like I'm going
to Tracy evensil Clay, and I'm looking at Clay because
Game six, Clay bro.
Speaker 1 (01:01:53):
Clay was very clutch, serious, serious, serious. Postseason was very clutch,
and Clay used to strap people up. That's an other
thing we forget about Clay. He was their best perimitive defender.
Speaker 4 (01:02:04):
But I'm probably going Tracy Tracy. I'm probably going Tracy,
but Clay has a good.
Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
Tracy had his best six nine handle threes, dunks, defense, rebounding.
Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
Like the guy was incredible. That's good.
Speaker 3 (01:02:20):
Twenty nine playoff series.
Speaker 6 (01:02:23):
That's crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
Crazy thing is like his probably the last couple his
point production dropped because of the last Just if you
just take like he probably have been right there with Tracy.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Man, you would have thought there would have been like
way more great shooting guards.
Speaker 1 (01:02:39):
In the league's history.
Speaker 4 (01:02:41):
Nobody, like nobody even talked about Clyde like Clyde was
the Clyde was back in the day. Not in the
top four, but he was still very good. Though even
even Iceman man George Love Nice.
Speaker 6 (01:02:56):
We gotta go back and do our research.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
We got Yeah, we gotta get some NBA Classic games
up and figure that out on YouTube. We're gonna get
into some fan questions. Uh oh, I like this question.
What are your thoughts on Scottie Pippen's play in basketball history?
Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
What do they play something?
Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
Because I feel like I feel like there's I think
people take two stances. Some people think he's overrated, some
people think he's underrated.
Speaker 1 (01:03:25):
There's no in between.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
The Scotti Yeah, some people like Mike carry them and
other people like bro like they won six championships because
they were good players.
Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
On this for sure, and because of Scotti, And there
was when even Mike left Scotti, they did pretty.
Speaker 5 (01:03:38):
I thought Scottie Pippen was the second best player in
the league when they were winning it all, especially in
the second three p Yeah, I had the second best
player in the league.
Speaker 6 (01:03:49):
Yeah, I had.
Speaker 4 (01:03:51):
I had him like top five, top ten, because I
mean you get those years that he played Chuck when
he was m VP, like they like Mike had to
go through Orlando and they had to go through Houston
alchem O Lodge, like it was like Kim has something like,
So Scotty was definitely top five, top ten most of
his prime years. He's top five, top ten. He didn't
get paid like it during that time. Yeah, but in history,
(01:04:14):
they didn't have him at the top seventy five. They
had him the top seventy five.
Speaker 3 (01:04:16):
Right, Yes, he blows.
Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
Yeah, I mean to me, I think he's falls victim
to the bucket loving nature of our society because like.
Speaker 6 (01:04:25):
He was outside of buckets, he was all around.
Speaker 3 (01:04:30):
Yeah, he was like the way they used.
Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
To harass people in the back court, like the defensively
made him and Mike that was just some scary ship.
Speaker 3 (01:04:38):
Was Dennis.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
Historically underrated?
Speaker 6 (01:04:43):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (01:04:46):
It's also hard to rank certain guys because of how
good their team was. You know what I'm saying, Like
he was, Draymond is gonna be held in a higher
not saying Draymond's not a great defensive player.
Speaker 3 (01:04:57):
He's gonna be held in a higher regard because.
Speaker 1 (01:04:59):
Because he played on such big, great team.
Speaker 4 (01:05:01):
Yeah, you know what I'm saying, Like he can he
mean a conversation with Dennis Robin because they had some
of the great defensive teams. Now, if you ask an
older guy is Draymond Like Dennis Robbin, Most guys be like,
you know what I'm saying, Like Dennis was a machine
twenty like twenty rebounds, don't care about he was getting
twenty rebounds and the best player gardener, gardener guards.
Speaker 3 (01:05:22):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Yeah, crazy, so insane defensive player shouts this size fifteen shoe.
Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
Pause. That's a crazy name though it's Dylan. This is
for both of you, guys.
Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
Could you name a player on one of your teams
who didn't get you didn't play that much, but you
thought was really underrated.
Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
Oh that's a great question. Playing much like that that
doesn't didn't get the opportunity to.
Speaker 2 (01:05:47):
Play like they got crazy rotation minutes, but you were like, oh,
this is a tough player.
Speaker 6 (01:05:54):
Damn.
Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
I'm trying to think. I feel like there's one on
every team that you.
Speaker 6 (01:05:59):
You like on at some point, well, I think I
have to say, Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
So who's the most appreciated guys you played with?
Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
You feel like they're like nobody ever asked you about,
but you're like, Noah, they was, they were really good.
Speaker 6 (01:06:15):
I'll probably throw like Eddie House in there.
Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
Yeah, he made big shots for US Eddie House, Big
Baby had somebody one of those Eddie.
Speaker 6 (01:06:23):
House get Eddie House love on that.
Speaker 1 (01:06:26):
I love that.
Speaker 4 (01:06:31):
That's tough, man, because I feel like every guy that
I played with that was underrated at.
Speaker 3 (01:06:34):
The time has emerged afterwards.
Speaker 6 (01:06:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:06:36):
Yeah, Like in Toronto had Norm and Fred for US
and Og didn't play for US. O G, yeah, he
was just on the tournament. What I'm saying, like, yeah,
it's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
And l A.
Speaker 4 (01:06:50):
We just had everybody that was already kind of established.
Every Bradley Ox Creuse, Okay, we had Cools, we had Rondo,
we had a stacked team, gotch Ca c P was
there myself. We had defensive rugging, javel A d Dwight
that the bigs, bron they all pretty much established.
Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
Fred got paid, o G got paid, Norm got paid
Norm them they made an All Star team last year.
Speaker 6 (01:07:19):
That's crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:07:19):
I don't have to go back way San Antonio, like
thinking of like Jonathan Simmons, he got some, but then
he left and got paid with to Orlando.
Speaker 6 (01:07:26):
Gotcha he came And I remember Johnson out there Atletic
out there, he was playing.
Speaker 3 (01:07:37):
Yeah on.
Speaker 4 (01:07:39):
Athletic, go like defend a little bit balling but I'm
trying to think of, like there's anybody else that in
San Antonio. So Patty he made name for himself because
Patty was underrated, but that he had a long career. Yeah,
Corey Joseph when he played some other someone else and
played pretty well. Yeah, that's that's tough.
Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
One love that.
Speaker 1 (01:08:01):
I wanted to close by sharing with you a KG.
Speaker 2 (01:08:04):
Story that I had. You got one, Yeah, okay, So
it's Martin Luther King day. I want to say twenty nineteen. Yeah,
I think it's like twenty nineteen. And my older cousin,
who like works in the music industry, like doing this
thing with up Nod and one of his coworkers at
(01:08:26):
the time take us to the Soul House in Malibu.
Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
So for people that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
Don't know, you can get a Soul House member, but
the Malibu one is his own situation, super different. So
I'm the last person to walk in and my cousin
he kind of turns the corner, and mind you, he's
a Boston Celtics fanatic, so he turns the corner. Kg's
(01:08:51):
sitting there. It's like a little bar, little thing right
there when you first make that left, and I'm in
the back. So I'm just watching KG and he is
ice grilling. He like ice grilling my cousin, like, because
you know, whats so it's not a lot of negroes
in there. So he's eyes and it's like it's like
a decently long walk and he's just like looking at us,
(01:09:12):
like and if my cousin not realizing that KG was
ice creaming him, he just goes, what's up?
Speaker 1 (01:09:17):
KG? Like he kind of dropped it, just like what
up whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
I was like cool afterwards, but that story stuck in
my head because I'm like, yo, this motherfucker doesn't.
Speaker 3 (01:09:27):
Turn it off in the so he was ready.
Speaker 6 (01:09:31):
He was on go right for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
You remember about first meeting KG.
Speaker 6 (01:09:39):
Well, I met KG when I was in high school.
Speaker 5 (01:09:42):
You know, he has stayed at my house because my
AU coach flew out the South Carolina and recruited him
to play in the tournament with me.
Speaker 6 (01:09:50):
Oh wow, when we were like fifteen sixteen years old.
Speaker 5 (01:09:53):
Like he stayed like that absolutely, so yeah, but he
was a country kid, you know before you know, he
got like a piece of Chicago in him. He was like,
you know, kind of like country kid, and you know
I was a city kid. So it was kind of different.
And I remember taking him out on Chrisshawn Sunday. If
(01:10:14):
you know about l A, you know, we wrote a
show where it's kind of like, you know, it's it
ain't the safest thing that like.
Speaker 6 (01:10:23):
He looking like what is this?
Speaker 5 (01:10:28):
I'm like this Like Christian, He's like what is this?
He looking like, man, this is people out. There's just
people in the street, you know. So it was just like,
oh man, just to see the face.
Speaker 4 (01:10:38):
Was he always I heard, like because when he's on
the floor, he said, there was games, y'all don't acknowledge people,
y'all would be locked in, don't say it up and
he acts like he don't know who someone is. But
in the locker room I heard he was. He very
locked in on personnel, knew everybody what they could do.
Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
Was that a true? Like he knew the roster, like
he watched basketball.
Speaker 6 (01:10:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:10:57):
Absolutely, Like you really couldn't talk too much to KG
before the game because he's so locked in and zoned
in like he's gonna be in this in his locker,
head down, drenched from his workout and just kind of
like zoned like, you know. My first communication with him
was probably when we stepped on the court for layup
(01:11:19):
line something like.
Speaker 6 (01:11:21):
That or maybe and then I'll catch him getting taped.
Speaker 5 (01:11:25):
But like we had our take time, so you know,
but like my first communication will be like right when
we get in a layup line or something.
Speaker 6 (01:11:33):
But like he was laser focused.
Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
I love that man shouts to kg uh just the
super legend because of that. So I was like, Bro,
this is so crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
He's on guard case, so whole house in Malibu.
Speaker 1 (01:11:56):
Bro, it's like Obama goes there.
Speaker 3 (01:11:59):
You know what I matter, He's doing it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
It's amazing. Anyway, man, that was our show for today.
