No Fouls Given, of course, presented by Prize Picks.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
We're still in Vegas. I'm your co host Big.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Wise, joined as always by Danny Green and Paul Pierce,
who's on the Magnificent Run apparently in Vegas.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
He's coming.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
It seems like he might be able to get out
of Vegas with his shirt on.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
He's up right.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Now, I'm up right now.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
That's why you see that smile. He's showing all thirty
two of the team. It's a reasonable I got.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
It.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Is a reason for that man. So cool to be
back here at eight Cigar Lounge again. The hospitality here
at Resorts World has been top notch for all your
Vegas needs.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
You might want to come to Resorts World. Not gonna
hold you now.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
That's nice over here.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
The food, the atmosphere, this lounge. Everything is running into
so many people that we know. Paul just ran in
the Beast Mode who apparently he's been best friends with
for Mark.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Now it's like we just running too all.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Jim Gray was on this the last episode is kind
of crazy, but again shouts to the people at Resorts
World and eight cigar Lounge. Let's get right into our
first segment, which is fan questions. There's been a minute
since we had some fan questions. But like, I wanted
to pose this question to both of you guys because
(01:53):
it didn't dawn on me until I read Kevin Lewis
ten twenty nine question that both of you guys played
for Roy Williams. Yeah, oh, he had him in Carolina, Man,
you had him in Kansas.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
I never made that connection to the connection.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
I mean, I remembered it from a while ago, but
it didn't like.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
You both had him in college.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
And Kevin Lewis ten twenty nine as described Roy Williams.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
In one word. There's no one word to describe obviously,
Like he's very hospitable, like the Southern hospitality.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
He's got the twang.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
He got the twang. He's got his own cuss words.
It tells people he doesn't cuss, but it don't cuss him.
He cussed at us.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Why don't you always say fripping.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
Gosh darn like different, we're like god dang it. But
there was time.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
A lot of gosh.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
We had a we had a couple of guys on
our team that were language but pushed him to got
fucked like my ship. Like it's a nice slipout.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Ones a bit.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
We had some guys man, you know, Tylerlson over there. Yeah,
you know, I mean that's notable.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
But for you, it was the hospitality, Like he made
you feel embraced.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Here was a family thing. He was a I mean,
he ultimate competitor bro. Like even I was on the
call another day because we're talking about what's going on
with Carolina and they're talking about possibly building a new arena.
He just he was on the call. He spoke on
the call. So it was about ninety of us on
the call and we're just talking about the ins and
(03:34):
outs of what that's going to look like if there's
a new arena built, they're deemed one, what would happen,
et cetera. I don't want to get into the ins
and outs of it, but when he speaks, even when
we win or lose, but definitely lose, you get emotional,
you know what I'm saying. And when you're a freshman
or a sophomore like you like damn like it makes
you feel like not only bad and guilty, but like
like you feel his like his pain and how much
(03:54):
he wants to win, and you don't want to let
him down. You don't want your teammates now. So yeah,
when he gets in the mode, it's like you'll run
through a wall for the guy that Well, what do.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
You remember about your time with Coach Williams. I'll say intense,
like he really pushes you.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Uh, you know, and he really taught me the game
of basketball, because like, think about this, like when you
come into high school when you like one of the
top players, you.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
You know, you don't, you think you know the game,
but you just really.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
Just kicking people's butts doing just better than everybody. Right,
So when I got to Kansas, he actually taught me
the game of basketball, the fundamentals, you know, from the
basic stuff, how to fight through a screen, how to
get open stuff. Because I was just naturally gifted. So
he really taught me the game and I appreciate him
(04:46):
for that. He was at my Hall of Fame induction
that he cares about his players, and he says, and
he always says this, I'll be at your first game
and your last game, and he held that up.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
He would tend the game every year that I played.
That we like you try to see see us play
every year. So he really cared about his players. Bro Like,
he showed that on and off off the court as
much as you could support. And he was checking every
year to send a Christmas card or lame boy, how
you doing? What can I do for you? How can
I help you? Know what?
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I'm still in touch with.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
Yeah, we still talking.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
He talks him in a minute.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
But I will say this, like what made me feel
good about going to Cancas because of Williams.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
I wanted to ask you both that how did you
end up? You and seeing how did you end up
at Kansas? You guys are both all Americans, meaning you
had options. People wanted you guys, how did you end
up Kansas?
Speaker 5 (05:37):
So I will tell you this, so like it was
how he recruited me. It was like, you know what,
everybody was giving me the world. He came to my house,
was like, I can't even promise he did that.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
He did that.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
I was like, what I'm.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
He did? Everybody give you an opportunity. I'll give you
an opportunity to earn your spies.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
Yeah, And then I knew he was the one for
me because I remember was in the playoffs my senior
year and we was playing the mean Gas which is
in Compton. We played at Compton College. And when I
tell you, when you go to Compton College.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
Serious, he pulls up and he ain't scared to be
a coach.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
Williams came came to Compton College to watch a playoff
game and I swear he was the only white dude
in there.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
And I was like, that's the coach for me.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
I love that same. It was like I didn't have a.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Lot of atmosphere that like, it's rowdy, there might be
some fights, it might really go down. Williams, he was
just in there and I looked up like he was there.
I was like, damn ye. I was like, coach, you're
a real one.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
So that's when you were like, this is my guy.
That's my guy for show, Danny. What do you remember
I didn't have. I wasn't a top player like that.
I was a late, late bloomer.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
So I came. I snuck into McDonald's got you and
I didn't, But.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
You would have still been the top forty.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Yeah. Actually again, I started getting highly recruited going into
my senior year. It wasn't like early.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
On, it wasn't like this whole job thing.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
And once once they started recruiting, it was like it's
easy for me. But he came in the same areas
he was in New York bro and then he came
to the crib right in North bab had some dinner
and that's a food chopped up with him, and the
same thing with Pe. He's like, Yo, McDonald's, I can't
guarantee you anything. You have an opportunity to earn your
playing spot or earn your minutes, but I'm not promising
anybody anything. And I can say that for everybody all
(07:19):
down the line that he recruited, so everybody had the
same opportunity. But when it comes to the teaching thing, man,
like what he learned from Dean Smith, like just not
only teaching his basketball, but how to live and how
to be a young man, you know, like the keys
are a lot like the thoughts of the day. We
had defensive off principles today and then the thoughts of
the day, Like you can you can give him man
officially for a day, you teach him an officially for
(07:40):
the rest of his life. Like we had little things.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
Like that that we had that too practice playing what's
the hell you have to remember the thought of the day,
if not you running, you know.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
The defensive end, offensive philosophies, and then the thought of
the day. And it might be something like, you know,
no one cares when you know when like with some
of them are along the lines of uh, nobody, when
no one cares? Who gets the correct like everybody succeeds
when nobody else cares.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
It was on the practice plan. You get the practice plan,
but then you come in the court. You got to
remember what the thought of the day was.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
That's what.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
And he rotated probably like a good thirty different thoughts
of the day. And I think that's something he carried
on from Coach Smith. But you know, doing things the
right way. He was very punctual. It wasn't tense, but
it was like all right, from three forty six to
three fifty two, we're gonna do these drills. To three
fifty seven to four oh seven, we're gonna do it
was like yeah, no. His practice was two t down
(08:32):
to the minute, and we were disciplined and you had
to be.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Out of practice before word.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
What did you do?
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Man on the spring ankle? And I couldn't deny my man.
You never denyed drill.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Oh yeah, you run a freshman like they fucking do
that to you. Pass out.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
You couldn't let your man catch the ball. My man
catching the ball. He was practicing on my spraying ankle,
and I was like, my ankle has hurting me. Get
out of here.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
Yeah, get the.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Fuck out of my practice. Get out of here.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
He's just you're not you don't want it. I was like, man,
I got it out through my jersey. I took my jersey,
I threw it in the trash, went to my door room.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
I did.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
I did.
Speaker 5 (09:09):
I was like, man, he it was real dramatic. And
he called me that night like because he was like
he knew I was his best player. He was like,
I'll just challenge you in front of everybody, like I apologize.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
I know.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
He was going through it, wow, like you know, but
he pushed me.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
That's that's what.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
And I kicked up a couple guys out of practice
for different reasons. But he kicked the ball before and
sometimes it's hit his head like he didn't Boby night,
but he's kicked the ball. He got his showers and
also at the time there was times where he had
a was I don't know if it was a sciatica
or or something like that, and uh, he got he
got mad as hell and we played guys like Steph
Curry's like, recruited you guys over this what I'm saying,
(09:46):
Anthony Marrol t us the fuck up Jeergy say recruited
ju and he's guy has like twenty and a half. Time.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
I told these guys to go fuck off. You guys
could be here.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
He tried to. He tried to grab a garbage can
and the Carol I had the big wooden garbage try
grab that sh and throw it. It took a while
for that ship to come down, and I think he
sucked up his back. Another time he got so mad,
slaped and like it shit started acting. That's so funny,
but like he would get mad. He's very intense, bro,
He's very.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Who do you think who came the closest besides Kansas
and U and C to you going over there?
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Do you remember top of your top five schools?
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Yeah? Who was who was like right there with Kansas?
Speaker 5 (10:26):
Like for me, it was Oregon because you know, and
I was like mostly recruited even though I was all Americans,
like one of the top players in the country. It
was like, you know, I got heavily recruited because my
senior gave one of the national championship was that Ed
Obannon and all of Yeah, so they was heavily recruited me.
But most of the Pac ten and the West Coast teams,
(10:47):
so I'll say Oregon and cale Berkeley. But it was
just like I took visitor Kansas and I'm like, living
on the West Coast. I went to all the USC games.
It's not the same when I went to the Kansas game.
And I went to one and it was like, I've
never seen nothing like this in a field house. When
I got there, I was like, this is I need
(11:10):
to play in this building. That's amazing and that's what
made me want to go there.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
So nobody really liked the packed ten schools back That
was a packed ten back then.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
It doesn't even exist anymore, unfortunately.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
But like so the Cows and the Oregons were the
guys that were heavily on you, and U n LV
was not Jason Kidd that just got just got drafted
from Cal and all of that. So I can understand
why you were thinking about that, but then Kansas kind
of overwhelmed you.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
It over wailed me.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
There was my name, think about a high school kid
from Inglewood.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Damn, Yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
They had a mid night manager went to and it
wasn't mid night manas I went.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
I went to the first game, so it was just
like like.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
We want pierced. I was like, this is sick.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
So then you know you're going that arena and it
was the day before you go in that arena. They
got the spotlight on your jersey, like we could see
your jersey hanging up here or something. It was just
some crazy. I was like, I'm overwhelmed. And then I've
never seen people camping out for the game the night
before because LA is not like that.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Like that, nobody's camping off the USC basketball.
Speaker 5 (12:24):
Yeah, so I seen all this. I was like, what
they doing here? They wait to get first in line
of tickets for the tomorrow game. I was like, what
it's sleeping outside for the game. Yeah, I'm like wow.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
It just overwhelmed me.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
From a kid from Inglewood throwing up off Crenshawn Imperial
just watching this.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
I was I gotta play here.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
What about you again? Said?
Speaker 2 (12:46):
I was, who's coming at you before you?
Speaker 4 (12:49):
And see surprisingly NC State was one of them.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Wow and Betrayal.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
Yeah, but they were one of the first. But Pitt
Pitt was really because they get a lot of New
York they were bad. You had a good little run.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
What's his name, Ronald Ramon Carl crowds.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
Have black magic and then you know, they had a
nice little run during that time.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Levance Field, he was. They would love the New York.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Guards and then Saint John's because it was closer to
the crib. Of course they had normal I think they
had Norman Roberts at the time. He had just got there.
His name had just got let go Jarvis.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
He had Mike Jervis. I remember, No Robert. He was
a Kansas guy. Norman Roberts, he was, he was cool.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
Came in the crib and the top two that that
came in later, so Carolina Crew late once the recruise
was over in Yukon, but Yukon had signed somebody else,
the kidd of transferring, but then he signed him. He
took scholarship before hid and for me.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
You would have been a great Yukon Husky.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Possibly, I think it worked out well. Pitt Pi would
have been like to be able to get like more
play earlier. Yeah, I would have got more like at
opportunity earlier got you, but.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
The big East guys were We're coming at you.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
Yeah, and then so yeah, I was I had once
Carolina's recruited me. I had to take the scholarip before
like Martin like, I'm always a class is the last
class that can jump to the league. Yeah, So I
was like, how to make sure I get this for
Martell Webster or somebody gets this couch scholarship somebody, so
you can't do it took its. I was like, I'm
my coach, I'm coming. And then my first visit was
(14:21):
midnight Madness and I was like, sell the camping out,
so all the ship to dance and it was a
lot of fun. But I know I want to be,
you know, part of the Carolina like family. Before I've
been a fan of the of course school for a
long time. But yeah, and back then they also changed
the rule where it had just happened right after my
junior the senior they couldn't like give you gear and
(14:41):
like candy and put your name or your jersey up there,
like they changed all of that. Remember they used to
give you like your name and have the banner and
all and welcome Danny Green or are you coming to
your room? They got Danny Green jersey or so they
did it. My junior, I experienced it one visit and
then after that they changed. They allowed to do that
no more.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
So you didn't get the he got game.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
Na, I got one visit like that. I got one
visit like that at pit So I wanted to pick
gave you to like the little candies and ship food
and like a little Actually NC State So so my junior,
when I was not as recruit as the higher schools,
that's when I can like NC State will have like
little number and.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
A lot of guys be like well you know such
and such as Mellow talks about Behim.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
Being on him early.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Yeah, you know, so he felt like this guy really
saw what I could be from early on, so he
went with Syracuse even after he became a way more
highly sought after recruits.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Like, Yo, these guys saw it in me from the beginning.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
You didn't You didn't know they had early for them
was one year before prior, Like it wasn't like Reshman
sophomore year. Yeah, Like if that's the case, I would
have looked at like Oral Roberts. You know what I'm saying,
Like those are those schools Roberts ninth and tenth grade.
It was like those types of school you know what
I'm saying, Like it was like the brilliant, like mid majors.
(15:59):
What's the other team that had a good run in
the tournament? They actually beat us. I don't know if
that George Mason like you like, it would have been
one of those men majors. But junior that's when like
Pitt and NC State came on. I had a good
camp ABCD camp, but it wasn't the top dogs yet.
Then after that my junior summer, then it was the
top dogs and then it still was never Duke anything,
but it was just Carolina and uh Yukon and like
(16:20):
some other ones out west. I almost took a visit
to Hawaii just to take the visit.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Just to take this team.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
You get five visits, you might as well just go ahead.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Was a vacation.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Yeah, but nah, I was sold bro So I signed
that right before anybody else and then mar telling them
going to the league anywhay like half them CJ. Miles,
That was lou Will Mantelis old him Andrew bid them.
That was the last year you could make the jump,
So yeah wow. This episode is brought to you by
Prize Picks. It is the holiday season, the best time
of the year for sports, bowl games, basketball matchups, playoff pushes.
(16:51):
It's all happening at once. And while you and I
are out here making decisions every day, what gifts to buy,
what to eat, which game to watch, there's one place
where it feels good to be right Prize Picks. Baby.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
I love how simple it is to play and win
on Prize Picks. Jalen Brunson, Steph Curry, Tyrese Maxi. More threes,
more points, more cysts. These guys are hooping.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
I love that you can also create a lineup and
mix and match sports.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
If I'm feeling a little.
Speaker 5 (17:16):
Spicy, I will add some football picks to the lineup
as well. Love sprinkling in a little pooka Nakoola.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Action with my hoopers.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
Prize Picks now has early payouts. If your lineup gets
off to a hot start, you may now have the
option to cash out those winnings before the game even finishes.

You want something personal, but not like too personal. Nobody
wants another random candle or sweater. They ain't even gonna.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Wear facts and it's got to hit the sweet spot.
And that's why all Frames is clutch. This is the
easiest win of the holiday season. No scouting report, neither.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Listen or frames. That's a cheat code if I've ever
seen one. You give somebody one of these digital frames,
you're basically gifting them all the best moments.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Of their life. How you gonna top that?
Speaker 5 (18:29):
And look thing that makes it so simple? You get
unlimited free photos and videos. Just hop on the Aura app,
connect to Wi Fi Boom, your.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
Whole camera roll goes straight to the frame.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
Plus, this might be my favorite part. You can preload
the photos before it even ships, so the person you're
gifting opens the box, plugs it in, and your memories
are already in there. You look thoughtful without even trying. Wife,
you're gonna love this one. Buil up the frames with
photos of our kids. What can be better?
Speaker 2 (19:01):
I love that?
Speaker 1 (19:02):
And you can add a little message before it arrives
too real, sentimental if you want to go that route
or petty, I'm just saying options exit.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
Nah my wife, he wouldn't appreciate the petty route.
Speaker 5 (19:14):
Gift box included to premium clean, no price tag. You

cousins texting you like we pull it up this weekend.
And I'm looking around my house like, b I even
got enough pillows for people to send them.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
All they prepped, be stressful man, last minute gifts, trying
to clean the guest room, finding something to put up
on them, empty walls. I'm like, bro, I look here
every day. Why don't you look messy when company coming?
Speaker 1 (20:24):
But look the holidays in here. And if you need
something fast, Wayfair's.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Got you facts.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Bro.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
Wayfair really liked that one stop shot for the whole crib,
batting linens, the core for every room and all that.
I don't know how much stuff they actually had till
I got on the site.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
Look true story. I had folks coming into town. I
guess when I was looking dry, bare, real college dorm energy.
So I hopped on Wayfair, got some new betting, a
couple throw pillows, clean, little accent chair, and it showed
up crazy fast, free delivery, no drama, No your order
might be laid nonsense.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
I've seen that chair too, look like something you ain't
supposed to put your feet on elegant grown while you
picked that style.
Speaker 4 (21:05):

somebody want to guard me Like this game seven some
things just makes sense.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
They've been doing this for over thirty five years, fighting
for the people, people just like us, Just like all
y'all listening.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
When we say large, we mean large.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
Morgan and Morgan has over one hundred offices more than
one thousand lawyers nation wide.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
That's not a law firm, that's a whole squad.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
When hiring Morgan and Morgan, it's like hiring an army
that has your back.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
And the numbers speak for themselves.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
They recovered over twenty five billion dollars for more than
five hundred thousand clients, real results, Like in Florida, one
client got like twelve million dollars after the insurance company
only offered three hundred and fifty thousand, And in Pennsylvania,
a client ended up with twenty nine million when the
(23:31):
insurer's best offer was five hundred k.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
If you hire the wrong law firm, you might be
beat before the game even starts. All law firms are
not the same, and there's a reason Morgan and Morgan
is America's largest injury law firm.
Speaker 5 (23:50):
If you're ever injured, you can check out Morgan and More.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Their fee is free unless they win.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
For more information, go to for the people dot com
backslash n FG. That's for the people dot com backslash
n FG. Or you can down pound l a W
that's pound five to nine from your cell. This is
a paid advertisement. I want to ask you guys. This
(24:24):
is a cool question from X Jordans Sorry X Jordan Green,
that's your cousin. Okay, he has a great question. It's
about grassroots basketball.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
AU kids that's playing in the space, yes and all
of that. How do we improve they're not playing though.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
The skills of our young athletes on the grassroots level.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
We gotta get the fundamentals.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Man.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
Like what Europeans are doing right.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
They're less focused on games and more focused on skill work.
They do mostly they work with the young People's not
playing forty.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
I mean we I know everybody follows what we do
over here, but why can't we take a page at
other countries? I agree, like why can't we do? They're
not taking over, but they're damn there.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
But they don't really think guys where they they send
the kids to a sports academy, Like they don't bother
with the oh, you have to get it, you have
to maintain the straight a's at such and such school.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
It's like, nah, man, we're gonna teach you while here.
Speaker 1 (25:28):
But like you're a basketball player, you're a soccer player,
do that?
Speaker 4 (25:33):
You know.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
I think that's another thing that they do that's a
little different from what we do here.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
I think it's a good and bad thing because now
even kids here are doing that more. But I feel
like multi sports was it helped me and other people
like playing multi sports. Everybody's now focusing. Soon they get
to middle school, pick one thing and stick on that.
By the way, I'm like, I feel like other sports
can teach you skills for the sport that you like,
Like you can still play through middle school other sports,
but kids are doing that now. They're trying to get
(25:59):
if you have the resource, just like kids out of
the the hood ain't making it no more if you
don't have the resources. Now you have the training and
the trainers, it's gonna be harder for those kids that
make a.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
Thing too like pricing out people of the sport. Like
if you just don't got the money, you just can't
make it to the league.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
That that sucks.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
What if you've seen with your kids in terms of
the grassroots stuff, I just.
Speaker 5 (26:23):
You know, I used to have au team, and I'm
just saying with the business of it start so early
and it.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Gets in the way of like really the like.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Love these young has fun.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Yeah, they should be having fun. It's like it's too
much business too early. Yeah, like let them enjoy.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
The game, like for at least a little bit, right
at least, Like.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
You know, it's just too much business of the game.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
Some people would say that's too much at stake, right,
Like if you if you have the potential one day
sign at three hundred million dollar contract.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
That's why I'm thinking that the kids a kid, you know,
like when you're like telling them to like sit out
and see the trainer and.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
The one on one.
Speaker 5 (27:13):
Basketball guy and then practice and the conditioning.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
It's just like, yo, it could be a lot on
the kid early, you.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
Know, because I remember as a kid, my basketball was
just going to the park on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Play the organized basketball.
Speaker 5 (27:31):
To seventh grade, it's too much serious, it's too business.
Like I feel like it shouldn't get business until you
get to the point where you're like, okay, it's a
point to where he actually can go somewhere with it,
but let him enjoy it first. Let him have fun,
be a kid. Like the thing is, And what I
try to do is like I try to take the
kids and do things with them outside of the sport
(27:54):
from time because it's like Saturday we have games and
then Sunday we go to the beach run and then.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
It's just like like let's go to top golf, let's
go to let's go.
Speaker 5 (28:06):
To the movies, let's go bowling. Yeah, like let's let's
be a kid. Like you're teaching kids to be professionals
too young. And I get it the business of it,
but like, if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
You know.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
It's funny because when.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
I figured out those guys that started at like seventeen eighty,
they picked the ball like Pascal Joel didn't start playing.
If you're gonna be a pro, you can be a pro.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
When I was younger, everybody that I knew that I
hooped with, they thought they were gonna go to duke.
But it didn't dominate their life, you know what I mean.
It's like, I love hoop. I want to get as
good as I can, but it's not like every day
I woke up, my goal was to get to.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
Do eating and working out, reading.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
It's like, bruh, hey, I don't know happened if.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
I became nice. But they worked, They worked out when
they wanted to work out. They hooped. But to peace point,
everybody just hooped all day and that's what got everybody better.
Whether it's a park, au all through the different boroughs,
ship like that. Until street lights came on, it was
just having mostly having fun. And that was either and
that could have been with football, could have been baseball or
whatever sport that is the day that you wanted to play,
could have been to touch. We played all sports and
(29:13):
different parks. All right.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
My next question is from d Q and no no
why it's a weird name, but that the question is
for both of you guys.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
What was your welcome to the league moment?
Speaker 4 (29:29):
I never had one, Bro, you never had it. I
didn't play early like my first I didn't play my
rookie year.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
So you just knew like the league was.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
In my second years in and out.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Welcome to the league moment could could not be on
the basketball.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
Court practice, give me practice. It could have been something else.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
Telling you're gonna get the donuts.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
Absolutely, so it could be welcome to it. Definitely was
the first time that I went in and didn't know
what in active meant.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
Inactive, what does that mean?
Speaker 4 (29:55):
You're coming to the Really, you're not playing today, You're
wearing a sport.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
Code like you you came in, we got here. I
came in.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
I'm thinking I'm being warm up, so we're gonna be
in TV and ship. I'm with the Calves, Shock there,
broad and now like they're gonna see me on at
least warm ups or something on the bench. Two thousand Yes,
two thousand and nine, two thousand and nine, second round.
So yeah, just trying to skip that. I didn't play,
But yes, that's when Bron after Bro Bron made I
(30:27):
think that's when Bron I didn't know he was on
the Calves then, yeah, because I was in active half
the time a lot.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Blossom.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
I don't know he was.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
I was on the team.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Yeah, he was on that team.
Speaker 4 (30:40):
Yeah, Anthony Parker and traded for Antoine Jameson and J J. Hicks.
I don't know he was on that So I came
to the arena. You're in active? What then does that
mean you gotta work?
Speaker 6 (30:51):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Why do they do in active? What is the point
of that that you can.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
Only dress cerain amount of guys like so like now
it's more people, but back then you can only us thirteen.
Maybe you're fifteen on roster. Two guys. Thirteen guys can dress.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
So you just pull up and you just sit on
the end of the bench with your regular clothes.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
You can work out, do whatever you want, but by
the time the game starts, you can stay in the
back of the locker room or you're in the bench.
You have to wear sports.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
I didn't know he was on that team.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
I didn't know he was on Most people did not know.
Speaker 5 (31:18):
I didn't know Danny. I know Danny san Antonio everywhere else.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
I know Danny was on that team because him and
Bron used to do the dance.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
No, I didn't. Yeah, I didn't know.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
You don't remember the dad the pregame dance routine, we
didn't do.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
Only did it once and that was against Bulls when
Joe remember that?
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Oh so that was the year Bron got MVP.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
It might have been.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Yeah, he definitely was.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
That was Joe kim.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
Right, because I remember that they introduced we played, because
we went to Cleveland and they gave Lebron the MVP
trophy and we sat there and watched it, right, we did,
And then I think we won by a dub that game.
Speaker 7 (31:54):
Okay, all right, anyway, what was your welcome to the
Mons dub on that night in the playoff?
Speaker 5 (32:07):
Yes, I think we did. I'm not sure we can
fact check it. I want to look at ITFS.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
You're welcome to the league moment. Oh my welcome to.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
The league moment.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
My rookie rear year grand Hill gave me the business,
when I tell you after, I cried after the game
because I never got hit. So I never got what
was it about the game though, that you remember something?
And he scored on me every time down.
Speaker 4 (32:32):
The stretch and key moments.
Speaker 5 (32:37):
Damn, I couldn't stop him. I was like, damn, you
were shining. I was like, this is and I looked
at him. I looked up to my idol at the time, manipulating.
I mean I was. I was trying to play like
him young. So I was like, I got this man.
He must have crawled. He got the half cross used
to do. I could not start. He scored every point
(32:58):
down the stretch. I must have on the locker room,
everybody looking at me, looking at me, like, damn, we
can't switch.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Who won't. The rookie of the year was that Vince.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
I distinctly remember you guys' rookie year because yeah, Mike
had just retired, and on inside stuff, they were pushing
you guys crazy you Jason Williams and Vince Carter. It's like,
these three young guys are incredible. And your story was
(33:35):
that you know, a lot of guys passed on you
in the draft and you was pissed and you were
settling scores. But like, I just what I think about
your rookie year. I'm like, yo, these guys were just
so amazing and everybody was excited about them. But when
he thinks about his rookie years, Grant Hill giving them welcome.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
Welcome to the league. I was welcome to the I
never that welcome to the league.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
I think we're done happy practice too.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
I had some more good right practice.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
All right.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
That was our fans segment of the night.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
Man so happy to get to hear from some of
the fans and the listeners. But we gotta get to
our favorite part of the night, which is Prize Picks
presented No. Sorry, one, two, three, now let's get back
hold sorry, okay, all right, that was our fan question
(34:28):
segment of the night. We love hearing from the audience
to make sure you guys reach out to us and
make sure you guys are asked asking us questions.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
For both Paul and Danny.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
But we're getting into our favorite part of every single show,
which is the Picks of the Night presented by Prize Picks.
Let's get right into it. The feat we'll be playing
the Celtics rivalry that goes way back. I love watching
these guys play all the time, even when it's not
Paul Pierce and Chris Bosh and Lebron and Wade and
(34:59):
d Wade fucking up Rondo's elbow.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
And broke his elbow.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
The you know Gamember six and twenty twelve, you got
the memory of an elephant. Bro.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
Yeah, that was crazy.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
It was man, y'all lost it five games that year.
It was crazy, And in twenty twelve you lost in seven.
Speaker 4 (35:20):
The way he said, I just.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
I just love that rivalry. You guys made it like that.
That made basketball feel like there's more to it than
just the game. It's like this, you guys for real.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
And you know what, I love to Paul like you
guys just didn't give it up to the heat. It
was just like, screw these guys right like him on
the ropes too. We was twenty twelve, we had him
on the ropes.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
And then Game five when you hit that game winner.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
Yeah, you just knew y'all.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
Was going that was gonna win that series. I already
knew it.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
So let's get into first up, Tyler Hero game time decision.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
But let's pick a minute, make a pick anyway less
game decision less more or less than twenty one and
nine less.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
He's hurt, I'm gonna go less as well. I'm gonna
go less.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Damn Yeah, I'm gonna go less.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
I'm gonna follow you, guys. Norm Powell more or less
than twenty two and a half for more.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
He's always hitting. Yeah, he's gonna be with him.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
Gonna I'm gonna go more as well. Damn I a
bio more or less than nine and a half rebounds less?
Speaker 4 (36:35):
They playing so it is Miami versus Boston.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Less not a long rebounds against Boston.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
I'm gonna go less. I'm gonna go less.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
I'm gonna go more. I like the amount of possessions,
A lot of possessions, so.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
A lot of opportunities for rebounds there and Kalel where
more or less.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
Than nine and a half rebounds, I'm gonna go more
for him. I feel like he's he's close to the
basket the Bam like BAM's gonna be BAM's on a
permanent more. I'm going They're playing bad basketball, a little
more football.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
A lot of rebounding opportunities in this game less.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
All right, Next up again another one of our favorite segments,
Power Moves, presented by Morgan and Morgan. And after we
just saw the Knicks in the NBA Cup playoff like atmosphere.
We're not gonna call it a playoff atmosphere. Playoff like atmosphere.
(37:29):
Do you think the Knicks should do a power move
and trade.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
I must say, I must I said, it's never a
bad idea, but I think for them, the only team,
they don't need to rush it right now. I feel
like they can hopefully wait till he's available to the
end of the season and get him then because I
like what they have going right now. They're in a
good spot, they got good offense. It would take a
lot of their depth and their future to get him.
(37:57):
It would change their team drastically. So I say play
it out this year, see what this group can do,
because I think they're good enough to make it to
the finals. And then if you don't win it, then
you could you know, jump ship, change things and then
adds some mother pieces while you're an offseason free agents,
or you get some mother trades happening to make yourself
a contention. Again, what do you think?
Speaker 5 (38:18):
I think this is a no brainer for me, Like
anytime you can get a guy like who's an MVP candidate,
top five player in the league, you go for it.
Because this is what I want to say, Like, what's
the one ingredient you have to have to win a championship?
You have to have a top five player MVP to
win a championship. Think about every team that's won it
(38:39):
all who won it last year? What a year before
Boston saying them was the top five? Yes he was,
yeah before that, Steph yok. Like you have to have
that player. That's the one ingredient for a championship. And
that's why I say every year the only contenders are
the guys who are in the MVP conversation. And he's
(39:03):
in the MVP conversation. So if you can get that,
you go for it. Like nobody on the Knicks. I
mean you could say, yeah, Jayalen brus is the top
five player. No, he's not a top five he's a
great player though he's an All Stars putting together two
great production All Star.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Yes, it is.
Speaker 5 (39:20):
But to win a championship, you have to have a
top five player.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
In the league.
Speaker 5 (39:26):
It's look at the last twenty champions Yeah, all of
them had a top five player.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
Maybe one or two didn't. And if you can get that.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
You go for it.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
I think for me, if you if the Knicks think
their team is made better by getting honest, then they
should just do it.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Now like the idea that you should wait, I think
it's like you strike now that's my thing.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
I'm not sure that trading the next thing. What do
you think do you think they made better.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
With getting rid of Townsend Ananoby for Nis, I'm not
sure that makes them a better team.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
I was really I'm keeping. I gotta keep. Maybe, I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
I don't think that makes them.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
Hard.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
I just.
Speaker 4 (40:22):
But you're taking away all your depth.
Speaker 1 (40:24):
All of your defensive capabilities, like even that that that spur.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
You compare me with Bronson. If you compare me with Bronson,
and if.
Speaker 4 (40:33):
It's a straight up, I'm good.
Speaker 5 (40:35):
I'm gonna tell you, look around the league, right, who
are the top duels?
Speaker 4 (40:41):
Right, Jamal Jamal.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
Would be one of the top duels.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
They would be.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
But that makes them a contender? Hold on, hold on.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
But what about the Phoenix Suns with all of their
star players and k D and Book and Great.
Speaker 4 (41:01):
Duo and all of that big three that failed Phoenix
when they had their Big three, they failed.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
They didn't have nobody who was then conversation either. Yeah,
well that's fair, that's fair.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
That's fair.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Neither Book nor KDE r m v P type of players.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
But I just think Kyrie Katy and James Harden, James
didn't work.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
They didn't get a chance to play. They didn't get
a chance to play.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
They could have won the championship.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
I don't know about that.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
Let's go crazy. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
I just I just to me personally, I don't think
the Knicks become this clearly better team by getting rid
of O G Towns or Towns and Bridges or some
combination with some other pieces with stuff out going.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
I'm not convinced of it. I'm not convinced of this.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
Past to the Indiana Pacers.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
The Pacers were clearly one of the best teams in
the NBA, so they bullied. They took Okay, see the
seven games. They should have won that game. So but
they got the best player, got the Achilles in the first.
So you don't think lose it to the Pacers is bad. No,
but New York didn't have a better team.
Speaker 4 (42:21):
You have a better roster.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
I thought they should have won the series.
Speaker 4 (42:25):
But but they got bullied, right, I think the Paces
proved that they were great team. So cat cats work
around here. Cat and Brunston got bullied by Tyres Haliburn
and Pascal Guys. Is that what happened?
Speaker 2 (42:37):
The Pacers were a great.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
Team, Cat and Cat and Brunton got bully did okay.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
Get bullied by them? Did clearly get they beat a
bunch of.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
Good teams on the road and took the team that's
about to win seventy eight games seven games like shame
in Indiana.
Speaker 4 (42:56):
I'm asking you. Did they get bullied?
Speaker 2 (42:59):
Said they got? I think they lost to a better
team last year. I think the Pacers were a fucking
damn good team. So it's proven by their performance in
the finals.
Speaker 4 (43:09):
What my questions? No, I didn't say that.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
What are you doing right now?
Speaker 4 (43:15):
Your your statements now very different When I said Minnesota
is a better team than the Lakers. When we had
that conversation, you said bron and Luca got bullied because
they lost.
Speaker 1 (43:24):
They got out played, they got so they got beat
up and they got beat up by like played better.
Speaker 4 (43:31):
So did they not get beat up and bullied by
the Indiana paces yet much better team? Brunton and Cat
individually said that he got beat up, outplayed by everybody.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
Yes, okay, Notice the Pacers are like two and eighteen.
Speaker 4 (43:47):
That's right now, So that's not a thing I'm not
talking I'm talking about at the time, Did they get
bullied and I look at the numbers. I don't think
that he got He did what he was supposed to do.
He did his job. Who's he Brunton.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
I think Brunson was was close to doing what he
could do.
Speaker 2 (44:05):
I think the Knicks could got to play.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
I think the Knicks has constructed can be better than
they showed last year.
Speaker 4 (44:10):
But by your standard, he got out played by Tyr's Haliburton.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
Sure, yeah, I have no issue with that. I think
Haliburt is a great player.
Speaker 4 (44:21):
Like I'm not saying, what are we doing right now?
The Paces?
Speaker 3 (44:27):
I think the Pacers got lucky.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
The Paces got lucky.
Speaker 5 (44:34):
Let me ask you, all right, so let me ask
you something. You've been a part of what three championships? Now,
you played on some really good teams, right, but to
win it in all your role, you guys were good, right, yeah,
but did you get.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
Lucky on the road, on the road to the win
at all? You have to be.
Speaker 4 (44:53):
Good that you have to have some luck on your side,
for sure. Sure, some years more than others, we got
some luck on us.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
You have to have luck on your side.
Speaker 5 (45:02):
Pacers all bounces, it's got a lucky shot.
Speaker 4 (45:08):
Basketball guys is with them.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
You have to be lucky too.
Speaker 4 (45:11):
Nicks were better.
Speaker 3 (45:13):
X were a better team and is not lucky.
Speaker 4 (45:16):
I think that out played.
Speaker 3 (45:18):
They didn't outplay the Knicks like that.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
They played them, they beat them in six games, and
then that six game they.
Speaker 5 (45:23):
Just like it's confidence after a certain amount after all
the luck the lucky shots.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
No, no, no, no, so the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
Because they got unlucky against Indiana ship trade.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
For you what you said.
Speaker 3 (45:40):
They can't win without the top five players.
Speaker 4 (45:43):
I'm just bringing back all comments because you're not hypocritical.
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
Creds. They got out played by the Pace.
Speaker 4 (45:51):
No, not to they. You said. You specifically said two
people got out played on the lake.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
Bro Brown was guarding this guy all series. The vice versa.
Speaker 4 (45:59):
Them was show different. When your numbers are greater than
the other person's numbers, that means you did not get
out played by that person. But according to you, because
they lost, so he got bullied. I'm just making sure
that your.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
M was based on points per game, every number of rebounds.
Of your argument, he had more points per.
Speaker 4 (46:19):
Game every category wise. He didn't beat him in any category.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Except the series and his team game. But you beaty.
Speaker 4 (46:27):
Specifically, but you specifically made it when it came to them.
You said the Knicks when you specifically made about an
individual when it came to the other team. That's what
I'm ever.
Speaker 1 (46:38):
I mean, okay, which is established Jalen Brunson.
Speaker 2 (46:42):
It's not a Luka Doncic. Nobody thinks that, and nobody
thinks Carl Towns is better than.
Speaker 4 (46:48):
I'm just asking you if you thought he got outplayed.
I thought he played it fine. I thought other guys
didn't show up. But I think, yeah, he got out played.
He lost, he got beat up.
Speaker 6 (46:57):
Go ahead, Yeah, Oh, we want to get back to
get We want to get Okay, the Knicks should get
out to the Google.
Speaker 8 (47:17):
Mobuckers want to ask you about Game six twenty twelve.
What was that like, bro, Because y'all just knew y'all
and was going back to the finals. What was that like, Paul, Oh.
Speaker 3 (47:31):
I'm gonna be honest, like you know what I'm saying.
Like Lebron. This is the thing about Lebron.
Speaker 5 (47:37):
Everybody wanted to know if he had the mental aptitude
to really take his team over the top, right, and
we pushed him to the limits. The reason he went
to Miami because we pushed him to the limit for sure,
and he was like, well I need more help. And
so now he's in a situation again versus the big
bad boss of Celtics.
Speaker 3 (48:00):
Three two on our home.
Speaker 5 (48:01):
Court, and this is the this is it right here,
This is his legacies on the line, because if he
loses this game, he's gonna get.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
Yeah, crucified.
Speaker 5 (48:12):
And this is what greatest players of all time do.
They step up to the occasion and he putting. He
got put on.
Speaker 2 (48:18):
That stage to where he had to deliver.
Speaker 5 (48:21):
And this is what made I feel like I was
a part of helping him get to the next step,
like he had mentally and physically showed the girl he
was that guy because this was the biggest test of
his life right there, you know what I'm saying, because
he went to Miami.
Speaker 2 (48:36):
To do this.
Speaker 3 (48:37):
Now, were like, what's up.
Speaker 5 (48:38):
We swung on them, we had them on the ropes,
were about to knock them out. He got up, they
got off the canvas and showed what their mental tipness about,
and he showed why he is who he is today.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
And that's the game that.
Speaker 2 (48:52):
Really I would say they game changed.
Speaker 3 (48:54):
His career, That changed his whole career for.
Speaker 1 (48:56):
Sure, Like I would say him, Ron basically didn't never
have a bad playoff series again for like like.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
This is everybody year.
Speaker 4 (49:05):
I think that series changing more than.
Speaker 5 (49:06):
An Everybody had us after that game. Everybody had us
going to the finals. It's gonna be us versus. Okay,
see by the way our setup title, we was gonna
beat there with see you.
Speaker 2 (49:14):
Know Bett, oh, I think you guys would have beat him.
Speaker 5 (49:19):
We bets and Lebron showed like, look, I'm tired of this.
Little brother is tired of these ass whoopers.
Speaker 2 (49:27):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (49:28):
When little brother become a grown man, now that's that
was him. He's like, I'm tired of these as whoopings.
Now it's time he grew up there.
Speaker 1 (49:35):
But what do you remember specifically about that? Remember, like
watching it live crazy because I was just like, god, damn,
he's hitting everything. He was hitting shots and yeah, but
it was the shots he was making the turn on phase.
You know, Lebron wasn't known for his jumper.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
He was swishing shots that I mean.
Speaker 5 (49:56):
Fade away like threes. I'm like, oh, like he was
don't let him get to the basket. He was getting
to the basketball. When we let him settle for the jumpers,
he was hitting those, bro and it was in sick.
It was like it was like his coming out part
of his moment.
Speaker 4 (50:10):
That was the story in Miami though. D Wade Sam
like we would go under screens, make him shoot jumpers.
One game will work next time they come out and
had everything. What the fuck is I was game play
making jumpers, That's what the fuck is going on?
Speaker 2 (50:21):
Like what's going on?
Speaker 4 (50:23):
The game players and making shoot jumperscause it's so good
against the rim Sam jumpers, it's a long the best.
Speaker 2 (50:28):
Player in the league and getting to the rim gosh
him downhill.
Speaker 3 (50:31):
It was crazy.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
So we're like, let's let's force him to shoot him
Was he making that?
Speaker 5 (50:36):
And then you're like, damn get up on him now
now getting to the rim boom, like.
Speaker 3 (50:42):
Like what you're gonna do? You know? And I was like,
like you know.
Speaker 1 (50:46):
Game seven was a battle too. That came down to
the white bash. It like two threes in.
Speaker 5 (50:51):
The corner with the threes in the corner because Boss
was hurt the game before something like that, right if he.
Speaker 1 (50:57):
So Bohton played for most of the series. He hurt
himself against Indiana.
Speaker 3 (51:02):
Yeah, so if he don't come back.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
We beat them, Oh yeah, of course.
Speaker 5 (51:06):
And watching some crucial threes, like we got some battles Bro,
classic sports moments actually for sure. And it's just like,
you know, I'm older at the time, and I couldn't
keep up Lebron the same as I could if I
was younger.
Speaker 1 (51:18):
So I think it was eight when you guys went
seven games against Cleveland, Yeah, and it was like remember
that jump ball or some shit or whatever in that
game I think championship year.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
Yeah, and we hustle for it.
Speaker 5 (51:31):
Yeah, but like, yeah, like Bron, I won't say this.
I think I pushed him to the limits, and he
pushed me to the limits. You know what I'm saying.
He made me become a Hall of Famer, the top
seventy five player because of our matchups.
Speaker 4 (51:46):
For sure.
Speaker 5 (51:47):
I will say that, Bro, greatness comes from greatness, still
sharp and still you know what I'm saying. And you
get up for the moments when I'm at you, Lebron,
when I'm actual with Coke, we.
Speaker 2 (51:57):
Bring up the best of each other.
Speaker 5 (51:59):
And this like when you start watching, when you go
back and look at them games, you're like, this is
basketball at its purest form for sure, you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (52:06):
Between the great players.
Speaker 5 (52:07):
Yeah, and you're seeing like like it's like a chef
that's put these ingredients together.
Speaker 2 (52:13):
I mean the game masterpiece. You see him have master
credible game plans, just like you see a masterpieces because.
Speaker 5 (52:19):
Everything is designed to stop the stars, and so the
stars have to create masterpieces and that and to be
great in those games. And like when I go back
and look at it, was like this is a masterpiece.
Like you're like you're watching Chess at his finest, you
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (52:34):
And that's what those.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
Games classic classic stuff with Paul Pierce.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
Uh, let's move on to our foul and no fouls.
Speaker 4 (52:43):
Questions the good ones.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
Oh we can close on that. Okay, wonderful.
Speaker 5 (52:56):
I think I'm like thirty three and thirty four or
one the game off.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
That's crazy.
Speaker 7 (53:03):
That's a lot of fucking you guys play seventy times crazy.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
Yeah, that's a lot of fun. He's only one win better.
Speaker 4 (53:11):
That's a lot of.
Speaker 3 (53:14):
Something like.
Speaker 2 (53:14):
That's amazing.
Speaker 3 (53:16):
Yeah, we went at it.
Speaker 4 (53:18):
That's that's a lot of matchups, bro, anybody seventy seventy times?
Speaker 3 (53:23):
Yeah, we matched up a lot. We matched up the
whole season.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
Yeah, we played the whole season. That's why these motherfuckers
hated each other so much.
Speaker 5 (53:32):
Bro, But we respected each other because I see Rabron
in the summer at like big fights. It would be like, oh,
you know what I'm saying. People think I don't like
Bron because some of the story you just talk.
Speaker 3 (53:43):
I just talk shit. But like when I see him,
when you see me, what's up?
Speaker 1 (53:46):
Bro?
Speaker 5 (53:47):
Ye?
Speaker 2 (53:48):
Respect? I love that man.
Speaker 1 (53:51):
After that legendary story about just one of the one
of the series that defined my NBA fandom to be honest, man,
