Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to another Talkin' Coffee Off the Cup. I'm back
with my producers Lauren and Derek. How are you guys.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Hello, good morning. I've got my ice coffee today. I
have my iced coffee amazing. So viewers can't see, but
it's a Yoshi turvice.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
I got it. I was just out in LA for
work and brought my son and husband and we went
to Universal Studios where they have the new Nintendo World
and it was terrific. We had the best time, so fun.
We really did like they do it right. Okay, there's
(00:47):
nothing janky going on at this amusement park. Like everything
works the way it's supposed to work. We got early access.
I was worried that was going to be like a
scam and not any better. It was so good.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Yeah, it's like essential these days.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Oh it's essential, but like it's I was worried. It
was like tsa pre check that like everyone has it now,
so that line is actually longer than people who don't
have that line have that. It was not like it
totally worked. It was great. Can I tell you the
best part please? There's a cart. There's lots of food
options at this place. Okay, like in Harry potter Land.
(01:24):
You can have the butter beer, and that's all the
things everywhere to eat interesting food. But there was one
cart in front of the studio tour place where you
get on the bus for the studio toy and it's
sold all kinds of things, but a pickle in a pouch. Okay, yeah,
(01:49):
which ah elite and a fountain soda. So I got it.
Dia cop to the top and a pickle and a pouch.
And I was like, I didn't want the studio tour
to end, like I am in heaven.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
Here. This is all.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Here's nothing else I need. It was incredible, I will
tell you. And this is funny. I wanted to talk
to you guys about this. You know. I was out
in Manhattan Beach is where we stayed, and there was
a Duncan, because there's Duncans everywhere. But I noticed this
about myself. When I'm not in my familiar territory, I
(02:30):
opt not for a dunk. I opt for whatever is
some local chain of coffee stores. You want the lay
of the land, And here, yeah, this was a fills
with a z oh fills. Okay, it was great. Let
me tell you, I got it. Before Universal at like
five thirty in the morning, and it was delicious. But
(02:54):
I have a complaint. If anyone from Phills is listening,
mm hmmah. I had my iced coffee and they gave
it to me in a paper cup.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Oh yeah, that's corn for you.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Is that what that was about.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
I think it's an environmental thing.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Yeah, what you needed is your Yoshi tall thermos.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
I should have brought my well, I didn't get it
until yeah, I go back. Yeah, but I really don't
like iced coffee and a paper cup.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Oh no, I like it's sweats and soggy. You know,
same thing with.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
The paper straw from the ice. Yeah, it's rough and
it doesn't keep it doesn't stay as cold as long.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah. Yeah, it's doing nothing for you.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
So I was bummed about that. But the Fills coffee
was delicious.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
I don't think I've ever had fills. I guess that's
like a la thing. I'm getting it confused with pizza.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yes, pizza. I've had pizzas in like every airport fills
with a Z I had not had before. And is
that something you guys do too, Like when you're on vacation,
you'll maybe you'll have the hotel coffee, but like when
you're when you're off property, yeah, do you look for
your favorite coffee chain or do you try the low No.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I definitely like to go to like hardcore local coffee place,
you too, and like get recommendations for where to go,
you know, yeah, gave me to you very seriously. So
I want to know how the locals.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Are living one yes, and I want to be able
to say like, oh, I've had that, yeah, because I'm
well traveled, I've had that right my problems.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
I don't remember it afterward, but I'm happy to have
experienced it in the moment.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
In the moment and feel like a local.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Exactly.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
This weekend, we were listening to a podcast. It was
like a true crime, a scammer, that type of true crime,
and Dunk and Donuts played prominently, mainly because the whole
thing is taking place in Boston and Rhode Island, and like,
it's not as though it played this role, but it
just appeared in a lot. People were going to dunk,
(04:52):
they were you know, and I found it so funny.
I was going to text, that's amazing, And then it
made me feel like we need to find and a
Dunkin Donuts related true crime show that you can host, Yes,
and we can investigate and spin off.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
It's a spinoff has been waiting for.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
I need to go and like crime.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, well, you know the head of security.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
You know the head of security. They can let you in.
What about you, Derek when you're on vacation.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, no, I agree. I well, I just has a
new coffee drinker too. I'm like, what's this place gonna take? Yeah,
what's what's the slight difference in flavor and stuff? But
speaking of chains as well, I want to report back
that since we last did a coffee talk, I tried
McDonald's coffee in the world and I gotta say I
(05:45):
really liked it. I got a latte, a hot latte,
no sugar. That's an order I often get, and so
it was a good like baseline, and.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
I thought it was delicious flavor. It was the Yeah, Lauri,
it's true.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
We should do it other taste test.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
We must, we must, we must do a.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Blind taste test with s e Yeah, dunk oh absolutely,
that could go well, very badly.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
But caffeine decaf as well, to see if you can
taste the difference.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Okay, Well, have to be decaf. Considering how much you have,
you'd have to drink and go over the edge. I
did try to get my jot in in decaf because
you've kind of got me on this thing where I'm like, I,
you know, there's a cap not available.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
Yeah, sadly they don't even make it. They're not even trying.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
They have a million no decaf options, no decaf options.
I should write a complaint. That's what I'll do.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Is that can we call that like caffeinist? Oh, yes,
that is caffeinist. Help us out.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Yeah, we really like my coffee, but I need to
take the caffeine out of it so I can continue
to drink it all day long.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Yeah, that's a bummer.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
I had to make myself a half cup, which is
like barely a sip.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
You know. I'm just thinking when I'm abroad, the opposite
thing happens. I I want duncan Oh when I see
it in a place, I'm not expecting it. Yeah, Like
we had one in we had one in Bruges all places,
and I was for a month, so like it was
(07:22):
a daily you know, and it was it was so good,
and that the donut selection way better than ours, way
more interesting.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
They have like themed because sometimes it's like, you know,
if you go to McDonald's or something, it's like, yeah,
food that everybody in this country likes to eats.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
No, no, it was all the same, more elevated donuts.
Everything was the same, which was great. I've had Duncan
in Barcelona. I've had Duncan in Brazil, Like that's where
it's fun. But not like domestic travel, domestic travel. I
want to be local.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
Yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
All right, let's get to some coffee news. See gotta know.
Of course, as has become typical. I have some studies, okay, studies.
Sometimes these go well for us. Sometimes we don't like
these studies. I have a study. This is good. Actually
this is for coffee myths debunked by science. Number one,
(08:27):
dark roast is not stronger than medium or light roast.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
That's the fact. It is not stronger. The myth is
that we think it is that.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
The myth is that it's stronger, and I for sure
assume it's stronger.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
That for sure. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
No. The difference between dark and light roast is, as
the name implies, how much the coffee beans are roasted.
But it doesn't have any more caffeine. It has a
stronger taste, but it doesn't have any more caffeine.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Okay, I thought it did. But yeah, yeah, yeah, there
is an assumption there for sure.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
This is another good one. Coffee doesn't stunt growth. Oh,
I was just the idea that coffee stunts growth.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
My daughter was like circling my coffee and I was like,
you're welcome to have a sip. You're not gonna like it.
And then she was like, well, why do you only
grown ups drink it? And I was like, well, some
say some your growth, right.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
I was told very popular myth growing up. In fact,
I'll tell you this is awful. But I grew up
dancing ballet at Boston Ballet, like very competitive, not the
fun kind of dance, like the yelling and Russian kind
of dance, no talking, right, And Boston Ballet is known
(09:47):
for hiring shorter dancers than like NYCB or ABT, for example.
And so we all started drinking a lot of coffee.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
That's because we.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Thought this, yeah, super sad, this is like thirteen Yeah,
because we thought it would stunt our growth.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Yeah, really bad.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Some other girls started smoking cigarettes drugs obviously, eating disorders
were there, but like it was not good.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Guys, is this part of the origin story of your
obsession with coffee?
Speaker 1 (10:18):
No, no, no, I was into coffee even before then.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
Okay, you're like, well, yeah, you're you're the one with
your other dancers being like, you know, I have an
idea of what we might want to try.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
It's really good.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
My favorite thing.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
I was staring at my duncan poster in my bedroom,
my room.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
I remember there was a rumor in high school there
was a guy in my class who was really good
at wrestling and he was on the shoulder side, and
everyone said he drank coffee. Like this is very much
like this is very connected, but wrong, very wrong. Interesting.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
I still don't think caffeine is great for kids. Well,
no way.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
As a five to seven man who started drinking coffee
at age thirty, I don't know what to tell.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
You, five to seven, King, King, sure, King, Well so
we know that it wasn't coffee, No, nothing to do
with Maybe I should out okay myth number three, Coffee
does not dehydrate you. Many people believe that drinking coffee
is dehydrating because caffeine is a diuretic, but Nope, not
(11:28):
at all, not at all dehydrating.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
I find that.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
I definitely thought it was like, yeah, when you want
to hydrate, I think I can't, well, I can't have
coffee that's going to do the opposite.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Yeah, yeah, No, that's fascinating.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Final myth, coffee doesn't cause heart disease. Oh, let's check
back in on that, and like a wee.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Those are the kind of studies that like, yeah, they
constantly are getting updated.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Yeah, and it's always yeah, this is the same moderation.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Coffee myth drinking can cause heart disease, but research, in
fact just the opposite. Another study found that two to
three cups of coffee a day can improve heart health. Again,
like these things, I don't trust any of those. No,
but good, I mean good debunking.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
I love that was all very satisfying.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Yeah, like this is a good one, A good study
that works in our favor, I.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Think, yeah, exactly. And like the ones that are like
everything you enjoy doing sciences you.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Shouldn't do is wrong and bad? Yeah, those are those
are not fun. Those are rude. Do either of you garden?
Speaker 4 (12:31):
I want a garden.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
The New York The New York Life Lauren, you probably
you have. Do you you have like a backyard? I do.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
I mean it's it has turf and so no, but
and it's the size of a postage down but out
front we have little pots and so each spring I
do like to try to plant some pretty flowers that
inevitably I kill, but we have yet to do it.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
I think we're like in de summer.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
But yes, anyway, I wish have you.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Heard people use coffee grounds in plants in plant planting.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
I've tried it because the squirrels are ferocious and they
will eat my pluck like each very pretty little flower petal.
And so then I heard the coffee grounds like the
strong smell they don't like, Oh, I think it will.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
So you're talking as like a deterrnce.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Yeah, from the terrible squirrels.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Well, I've heard like it's it's helpful to growing plants,
and I've known people that have done this. But there's
this is in USA today it's a very popular thing
to do putting coffee grounds in your flower bed.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Or plant bed.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
But this article is saying a little is fine, a
lot is not fine, and small doses coffee grounds can
add carbon and bulk to the soil, but not much else.
And despite some Internet claims, they're not a substitute for
well rotted compost or fertilizer. Too many grounds could be
harmful to the very insects that keeps soil healthy. Coffee
(14:03):
grounds contain caffeine, and caffeine is a chemical. It's exposure
to a drug, and too much caffeine can be toxic
for the bugs that you need to keep the soil.
They're so high, plentiful healthy. Yeah, this has been around forever.
I've heard people people doing this, but not too much.
Not too much with everything else, moderation. Okay, we have
(14:27):
our second Tim Horton's story from Coffee Canadians. My wife
is Canadian. This headline is crazy Canadians angry over iconic
coffee chains, US ties Colon h fuck Tim Hortons.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Wow, Canadians are not happy with America right now.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Canadians angry. Canadians angry is a headline in themselves. That
is a news flash in and of itself. Canadian's angry
over Yeah, because apparently Tim Horton's used to be entirely
Canadian owned, but it was it was co founded by
(15:15):
Toronto Maple Leafs player Tim Horton. I didn't know that
at all, that in nineteen to four. It's after after
a hockey player. Of course, it is so Canadian players
on the money. Of course it's a hockey player. I
don't know why I didn't know that, but of course
it is. And it's quote unquote Canadian ness has been
the cornerstone of its entire brand. But Burger King bought
(15:38):
out Tim Horton's for eleven billion in twenty fourteen, and
the merger created restaurant brands International, and so the Canadian
ties over years became fewer, and in the last few
months the company boasted principal executive offices in Miami instead
of Toronto. Oh and so now with feel wrong, Yeah
(16:00):
that is wrong. Yeah, but with all the boycotting of
American products, yeah happening in Canada now, Canadians are turning
on one of their own.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
So sad.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Yeah, that's how you know Tim Hortons is like it's
the Duncan donuts. Yeah yeah, Canada it it really is. Yeah.
So that's how you know. That's that's bad, pretty serious.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
That's on them though they followed the money instead of
their loyalty.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Yeah, indeed Tim Hortons.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
You mean Tim Horton's. Yeah, yeah, not not the Canadians.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Not the Canadians. We love Canadians. We've done these lists before.
There's a new one, America's Top three Coffee Capitals. And
(16:56):
this is where this is a different kind of ceteria.
This is where people drink coffee the most. So it's
not necessarily like the big coffee culture. It's just like
the amount of coffee. Okay, consumed, pious per cuppita, per cuppita. Derek,
(17:18):
shut your mouth. That was adorable. That was adorable. Now
let me preface by saying the study was done by
Mattress next Day.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Thank you for that preface.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
They're doing it's a UK based mattress supplier, and they
analyze factors like local coffee shop density, caffeine related search trends,
average coffee prices, and sleep data to identify which cities
around the world rely the most on caffeine to power
through their days. So I don't know how science y, Yeah,
a Mattress study is, But.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Why does a mattress company want to study this? Do
you think I'm trying to think about what the connection would.
Speaker 4 (17:54):
Be people not getting enough sleep they're not getting enough sleep?
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Can we where can we go to sell mattresses.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Because they's tired? I mean so then I'm thinking just quantity.
So it has to be New York. Has to be
one of them.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
It's got to be New York.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
No, no, not even not any of them.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Wow, No, I feel.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
This is just this is three? I have three and yeah,
no New York. What huh think of this? What's the
city that never sleeps?
Speaker 4 (18:23):
I mean New York?
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Is that New York?
Speaker 2 (18:26):
I know?
Speaker 1 (18:26):
It is?
Speaker 2 (18:27):
No, like another one, sleepless in Seattle. In Seattle, okay?
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Like Las Vegas.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Oh, Las Vegas is number one?
Speaker 4 (18:34):
Good number one.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
This makes sense because there's so many hospitality workers working
day and night, like working through the night. Right. Yeah,
and the casinos don't close, right, so I get it.
People are up twenty four hours a day. I get that.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Okay, that makes sense.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Seattle is number two. Okay, number three is odd. It's
a big city, but it's not one I would ever
just pluck out of the air.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Miami.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
No, it was like where else you Dallas?
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Dallas. I was actually thinking about it just because of
how big it is. The Dallas is like a big
thoroughfare like airport situation, but so is New York, and yes,
like Chicago, but anyway, okay, yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Okay, Dallas, we see you. And then there's the top
three in Europe, which is very surprising. These three Amsterdam incorrect.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
No, no, I guess the weed is putting people to sleep,
so they're sleeping.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
Well, actually coffee shops in quotes or not coffee shops.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Right, I mean London for the same reason. I would
think New York is just like a high business, you know,
but I guess.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
No, no, and no, don't even talk about anywhere in Italy,
which is where I would go.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Yeah, not on the list, no idea.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
So number one is Athens. Apparently coffee is very popular
in Greece. Okay, Number two is Progue. Okay, Number three
is Dublin. Double.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Oh well, double makes sense because of you know, the
propensity for drinking. Yes, they need to wake yourself up
in the morning.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
You wake yourself up.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Maybe your husband was just the maybe and drink too
much guinness. So yeah, nice, that's what you do there exactly.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
So that's interesting. I don't know. Again, preface conticils, it's
a mattress study.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Okay, but It is interesting that you have to like
flip your perspective like it's about sleeping, not coffee enjoyment
exactly exactly.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
So yeah, just a different framework. Yeah, this is what
we do here at talking coffee. Look at coffee. Different lenses, yes, okay,
perspectives all right, this one. I can't believe we haven't
discussed even offline, because this is like for me. Did
you see Jet Blue partnering with Duncan for a coffee
(21:07):
themed plane? Oh my god, you haven't seen this, you guys,
you have to go. You have to go right now.
Have you gone online? And look? There is a dunkin
Donuts airplane? Oh my gosh, it is gorgeous. It is
the most beautiful plane I've ever seen. It is stunning
and you can ride it. Here's how this works. So
Jet Blue and Duncan have had a long partnership apparently,
(21:30):
and I know this about about Jet Blue. I just
flew Jet Blue and it's Duncan coffee, which.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
Oh nice. Look at the little donut on the tail
so cute?
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Can you is that adorable?
Speaker 2 (21:40):
It's really cute.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
I want to go inside. I want to see what's
inside that's Duncany Yeah, you can ride on this jet.
Blue and Duncan are awarding status to customers who fly
with Brewing Altitude. This is what it's called Brewing Altitude
on Mondays. From May nine, May nineteen to September one,
(22:04):
True Blue members who fly eligible roots on this aircraft
will get Mosaic one status and Duncan Rewards members will
receive Boosted status for three months. Current Mosaic members will
receive twenty additional tiles, which we applied to their twenty
twenty five tile trackers. Those are like air miles, and
for the next three months, existing Boosted status members will
(22:26):
earn twice as many points as usual for all qualified purchases.
This goes from Boston Logan to Tampa International, Boston to
Palm Beach. I think that's it. Oh my gosh, you
gotta be going between those those places.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Are you gonna are you a member? You gonna book
a trick?
Speaker 1 (22:44):
I'm I'm gonna book a flight like I need you.
Do you need to go to either of those places,
Tampa or Palm Beach? Maybe I'll just go right around.
I need you know what I need? I need it
for the gram Yeah, like I need the pictures definitely
on this plane.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Yea ball live.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
I need to do something. Let's think of something. Can
we do a talking coffee on the airplane?
Speaker 2 (23:11):
Yes, would be amazing.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
Can I pitch this to Duncan? Yeah? Do I need
to do We need to make this happen because this
is so baller.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
I'm sure, I'm sure. iHeart will front it.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Yeah, yeah, three first class seats.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
I feel like the worst coffee I've ever had is
probably on airplane. So I do like the idea of
like facts a better a better brand of coffee.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
Well, an airplane coffee, you'll say, or I'll say, do
you have ice coffee? Sure? Yeah, they don't. They do not.
They just put it over ice and it's disgusting. Just
tell me you don't. I'm not an idiot. Just tell
me you don't. I know what you just did. You
just poured it over ice.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
I'm watching you.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Yeah, I'm looking right at you. What is happening? Yeah,
you're right, dere airline coffee might be Oh we should
rank coffees might be the worst tier of coffee. I
think you're right. Yeah, but not on JED Blue Blue,
Not on JAD Blue. I want to go in full Duncan. Regelia.
(24:17):
Do I have like I've done clothes, I have dunkin
Oh my god, I've dunk in everything.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
Oh my gosh, you're not ambassador?
Speaker 1 (24:25):
How am I not a brand ambassador?
Speaker 2 (24:27):
You know?
Speaker 1 (24:28):
I was really annoyed when Charlie Demilio became a brand ambassador.
Now I'm not mad at her. She's adorable. She's a Norwalk,
Connecticut dancer who got famous on TikTok and now she's
actually on Broadway in the and Juliette and Juliet Oh yeah,
(24:48):
yeah that show. Right, she's a dancer in that adorable.
But I was a little annoyed, Okay, because my brand
loyalty has been for like forty years this and the
happiest I get is when I'll post something about Duncan
and this almost never happens, but it happened once recently
(25:10):
and Duncan will comment that's like the happiest I ever am.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
That is exciting life. That is exciting.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Seriously, So do you use Charlie's Mimelia's face as like
a dartboard now in your in you're Duncan because it's
not about her.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Okay, she did nothing wrong. She's of the generation. I
get it. I'm old Duncan, I get it. But we
drink coffee too. Anyway, we got to make this plane happen,
I mean seriously before they turn it into something else.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Yeah, you got to give it a new paint job.
But it is really cute. The little donut, The pink
donuts so cute. Do you think the inside you're gonna
reach out?
Speaker 4 (25:49):
So pink and orange?
Speaker 1 (25:50):
That's what I need to know, right? Are there branded
pillows and blankets? And like, I want it all?
Speaker 4 (25:58):
It's two donuts?
Speaker 2 (25:59):
Yeah, or a doughnut? And like coffee?
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Yes, what's in the bathrooms? Do the bathrooms have branded
Duncan stock? I need to know all of the things
cofee on this.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Yeah, it's also a little shaky.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Just played into caffeine mode. You don't want it to
crash afterward.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
For sure.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Oh stop, oh stop? No okay. Next coffee news. Have
you heard of seven Brew Coffee?
Speaker 2 (26:33):
No?
Speaker 1 (26:34):
No, me, neither. There's three hundred and fifty locations in
over thirty states. What but this news story is about
a seven Brew opening in Panama City, Florida. But what
I discovered is that seven Brew at seven Brew Coffee,
here's their thing. You can make twenty thousand combinations of drinks.
(26:57):
Twenty thousand combinations.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
Yeah, that's a red flag flag.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
What I'm googling it and I can see a blue
one and I'm like, I don't know what it was.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Yeah, So I don't think of this as a coffee shop.
This is like a drink destination and you can make
energy drinks and you can boost you know, protein.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Or smoothie shop or something, shake.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
Shops or like a like a sonic almost in that,
like you can sort of have you ever been to
one of those machines, like a coke machine with all
the buttons and you can like mix, Oh, yeah, I
want this one, and I want this one, and I
want this one. There's a computer inside and then it
puts it all in a cup for you. That's kind
(27:44):
of like what I envision here. But pink Paradise, lemonade,
German chocolate cake, coffee, pixie Stick energy drink, Pina Colada, smoothie,
watermelon syrup coffee, banana bread, mocha coffee, key lime pie coffee,
Like these are wild that's a wild yeah, or a
(28:09):
dare that's like a dare, like watermelon coffee.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Yeah, oh god, gross.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
But I'm going to be on the lookout for Seven
Brew now that I know that they're out there.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
I know they sort of look familiar.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
It looks like something that you would pass when driving
long distances. Maybe it features a drive through looks like
an oh school diner type.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Thing, so like a sonic That's what I'm envisioning.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Yeah, drinks, energy drinks, shake smoothies, teas, lemonades, and a
wide variety of blended drinks. That's a lot.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
It's a lot to offer.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
And Derek, I agree, like red Flag, like I want
you to be good at like one thing. Yeah, not
all the things.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
But I gotta say I am kind of curious what
key lime coffee tastes like.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
I would like to try it. You know what sounds
good is German chopped clique coffee. That sounds good?
Speaker 4 (29:02):
Yeah that one.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
I'm into anything chocolate can work maybe.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Yeah, yeah, Okay, last bit of coffee news. It's a
TikTok coffee trend. Here she comes wam wah ice coffee
bucket challenge. Yeah. Oh, I wish the TikTok teens are
at it again with another viral coffee trend. They're calling
it cloud coffee with a tropical twist. You sub out
(29:30):
regular water for coconut water, okay, and add a float
of non dairy milk. So the recipe that this person
recommends is fill a high ball to the top with ice,
add coconut water, leaving just enough room for a shot
of espresso. Float the espresso on top of the coconut water,
(29:51):
garnish wait for it with a lime wedge.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
Oh, we've already talked about and coffee should not be together.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Ugh, and enjoy the cascading effect as the express espresso
mixes with the coconut water. Squeeze the lime wedge, stir
and enjoy. What do we think of this?
Speaker 4 (30:11):
I mean, I'm kind of curious. I would omit the lime, but.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Yeah, the lime is the psychotic part. The coconut water
might be interesting.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
But interesting because you know, like coconut milk. You know,
there's you make.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
I don't know, right, I can cross that line, but
the lime is a hard pass.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
Yeah, I would try that. I would try it too
without the lime.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Should we make some of these TikTok trend coffees?
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Yeah, although I don't know where. I guess we could
get espresso. There's no espresso making it. iHeart, we'd have
to bring it in, to bring some in. I mean,
I'm maybe we should do that.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
Maybe we should plan a day yeah in studio where
we do the blind taste test, yes, and then also
make some TikTok trends.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
And we should ask our listeners, what are some other
coffee combinations that you're not making up? Like, I don't
want to be totally grossed.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Out, right, Yeah, something that you actually like listeners?
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Yeah, yeah, that's different. Yeah, that's that's unusual, unusual. Yeah,
what do you I like that too.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
I like that too. Let's ask okay off the cup
at gmail dot com. Cup with two p's, just like
the podcast, tell us your interesting coffee inventions or tricks
or flavors again, not gross.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Things that I actually have tried and like or are
interested in.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
Trying and enjoy. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
Yeah, and we should be the guinea pigs.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Well that's all the news that's fit to sip.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Delicious super into those myths definitely still my favorite.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Mine too, mine too, the myth the myth busting is great.
