Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, this is Sam. This is John the og Storytime
podcast host. Oh yeah, we got some great stories coming up.
But before that, we get a teeny two minute break
from the sponsors that keep this show propped up like
a little house. Oh yeah, my boyfriend's professor is way
too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Maybe he's just
got really good grades. Man, Let see, so op says

(00:24):
do I twenty eight female need to worry about my
boyfriend's friendship with his professor twenty five female. My boyfriend
twenty four male became friends with his former professor twenty
five female sometime last year, I twenty eight female. Interesting.
Don't know what to make of it. I think you
should be suspicious. They seem to be friendly, and they

(00:47):
talk consistently every week, and from what he tells me,
it's usually very surface level. By the way, this comes
from Cute Classic twenty nine fifty four, and if you
want to submit your own stories, go to the r slash. Okay,
story Time subread it. So, sometime last year, after the
course ended, my boyfriend, his professor, and some of his
male classmates went somewhere to eat together.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Okay, yeah, totally, people do that all the time people
get meals with their professors after People do that all
the time, meals with their professors who are only one
year older than them and also a woman.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Okay, I would say it's completely normal. Like I had
a street our professor in Australia and we would go
and like hang out after class. He was he's one
of those cool young keys. Sure, but there was like
women there as well.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Yeah, but was were you like?

Speaker 1 (01:35):
I mean he was, he was a piece of meat,
don't get me wrong, But were you like I think,
were you down? I'm I would love to know. From
chat I know it can see him a little sus
but Dakota is more on the side of already sus.
I'm like, not sus yet, not sus yet.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
It's just also that comment of like he tells me
when they talk, it's pretty surface level. It's like, yeah,
your boyfriend's not going to be like, I'm falling in
love with this other woman while I'm dating you.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Yes. Well, my boyfriend brought up that he was going
to be attending an event, a plastic modeling show, and
his professor showed interest and invited herself to the event
and asked if she could stay at his Airbnb with
his friend. My boyfriend and his friends were all okay
with it. I unfortunately couldn't attend the event, but from
what my boyfriend told me, he and a few of

(02:20):
his friends met up at the airbnb. That same day,
his professor came to my boyfriend's Airbnb and tagged a
few of her girlfriends along. I believe they all stayed
in the same place or not. Sus or not.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Study session, study session.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Study session. It's a big study session. Kim Fine says,
it's normal if y'all want to smash SAIDI Toe says
it's sus because they're so close in age. I feel
like when you were closer aged to your professors, you
should be even more business owned.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Yeah, there really does need to be like the separation
of church and state here.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah, they're about that. Did business business, big business.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
The d business the business of given and they got
a D in business. Well. The next day they went
to the event, went to the bar afterwards, and got drinks.
A lot of them except my boyfriend, got pretty wasted
and my boyfriend took the liberty of being the designated
driver forrest professor and her friends. His professor won some
model kit from the event, even in her waisted state,

(03:20):
and asked if my boyfriend she could stay up with
her to work on the kit.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Yeah, so what plastic modeling convention is definitely like there,
It's like minifigures like little figure cue put together.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
And if there was a model with plastic surgery, the
plastics are modeling.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Three D printed models.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Right. Yeah, she wants him.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
She wants him so bad. This was planned.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I would just like to say that I've had a
couple of dates where I'm like, oh, let's build a
build some legos together.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
That this is different.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
The legos were never built. I actually still have the
base of the Statue of Liberty from that date that
was never built. Dang, I feel like I should probably
dismantle it.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Yeah, God, you're in a dismantle it.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
I don't know, or build it up. It's so long,
it's such a big you got to I don't know
why we thought we could manage finishing the Statue of Liberty.
I was the opposite.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
I got two lego sets and built both of them
and didn't realize, oh, maybe this wasn't the vibe. She's
not building. On the second one, she was like Riley's just.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Exactly and she's on the bed. Riley, come over.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
It's been three hours, Riley.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
I don't stand from what my boyfriend tells me, nothing
else happened that night. They just erected a model. After
the event, everyone from that group created a group chat,
and they continue to plan and talk about future events together.
Since then, my boyfriend and his friends have met up
with his professor and got to meet his professor's fiance

(04:57):
at an anime convention. Does the fiance change anything?

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Oh oh wait, I'm sorry. I forgot.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Once you are engaged, there's no way you.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Can cheat on anybody.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
That's truly bad.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
I forgot about that.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Never ever happened. Well, and it sounded like they all
get along well. Also, where's your girlfriend in all this?
Why isn't she getting invites? I think she was busy
an invite.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
I think she was just busy.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Sam. Here, we're gonna get back to the stories. But
here's three of its bads from our sponsors. His professor
continues to express interest in other events. It sounds like
she may be attending another event with my boyfriend and
his friends in the future. I trust my boyfriend. I
don't know this. The reddit post doesn't scream trust. I
don't think he ishiding anything from me. I kind of
disagree what you know.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
I think this is more about trying to suss out
the intentions of the professor.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Yeah, I trust my boyfriend.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Oh really, I do, because I don't think there's any
way you let this happen if you don't trust your.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Boyfriend, Because if you didn't trust a boyfriend, we probably
would have got to mention of he's not showing me
his text. Everything seems pretty transparent on his end.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Yeah, yeah, it's I think it's probably just like a
do I really need to step in here and be
like you you can't hang out with her because she
wants you desperately?

Speaker 1 (06:08):
But isn't that like, Yeah, I can see what you're saying.
Let me know if you guys think that Opie trusts
I just have a boyfriend.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Smell anything yet of non trusting of the boyfriend?

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Yeah, have you?

Speaker 1 (06:19):
I mean, I feel like getting into these situations that
are making Opie uncomfortable, okay, could like I feel like
it's just I feel like there hasn't been like OPI
is obviously uncomfortable.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
There's a lot of other people here.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
It's not just it is true that a digest him
and the professor in the model late at night. Did
they build them together? Did they build that built it together?

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Well, as we all know, it's a good sign that
they built the model, because if the model was unfinished, sure, yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
That would be more sign a red flag. So I
trust my boyfriend and don't think he is hiding anything
from me. Honestly speaking, I think it's hard for me
to understand their friendship as she is his professor. I've
had a conversation with him on this and he's let
me know that I have nothing to worry about. I
would like to hear others opinions and see what y'all
think of this friendship. Is this something I need to

(07:07):
be concerned about or is it really nothing? And if
you're new here, there are multiple parts to this story,
so make sure to follow us on the iHeartRadio app
or Apple podcasts. Okay, we got more to this story
last week left off. Okay, so edit. The professor was
my boyfriend's former professor. She is classified as an adjunct
faculty and works as an accountant as her full time job,

(07:29):
which explains why she is a young professor. My boyfriend
has not graduated college yet and is still a student
at his university, and some relevant comments. You should go
to one of the events with him. I do struggle
with social anxiety, so it makes me uncomfortable to be
sharing a space with a lot of people. I am
hoping to go to the next event, though, since it's local.
Her relationships with the students is grossly unprofessional. I'm totally

(07:51):
with you. I am also quite confused of her choice
of friends. I'm not sure why of all places that
she choose to share an Airbnb where her former student
and it'd be wasted with them. She's classified as an
adjunct faculty, so she is a professor but is part time.
She works full time as an accountant. The whole situation
feels weird to me.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
I mean, I feel like you just that explained exactly
why she's doing that right there. She's adjunct faculty, she's
not a full time professor. It's like something she's like
doing is done on the side. Yeah, she's twenty five,
Like it's fine for a It makes.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Sign for a twenty five, twenty four year old to
hang out with other twenty four year old I.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Think though, if she was like a full time professor
and it was like her whole deal, Like that's like
she's a and it's nothing for that tenure, that would
be wildly inappropriate, And.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
It would be inappropriate if they were still like in
that like student teacher relationship, right, But it seems like
no longer. Yeah, Miss kitty Kat says, if she were
no longer his teacher and doesn't have any influence on
his grades, I feel like it would be a lot different.
I think she doesn't. I think I think that's the case.
That's the case. Yeah, But commenter says, you say his professor,

(08:57):
but what is their specific academic connection? She taught him
once years ago and now they're roughly equals and friends,
or if she is primary support for a PhD? Or
what op the first option? She taught him last year
and now they are friends. He is no longer on
a course with her. I totally understand how it's possible
for students and their professors to be friendly, but I've
never heard or seen of a friendship where you consistently

(09:18):
talk and hang out together so casually. So she no
longer is his professor. They are two adults of the
same age in power level kind of gives me the
same vibes. Like if a student graduated high school and
his friends with their young teacher. Obviously not the same thing,
but a student teacher relationship is there. I think as
a teacher you should still uphold that level of professionalism
and mentorship even if you are no longer to the

(09:38):
student's teacher. I also want to note that they are
technically not equals, since they're both in relationships. She can't
be acting however she wants with former students.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
I disagree with that parallel to high school, because that
would be you're talking about the equivalent of like a
senior in high school teaching a junior in high school,
and then like they move on, and it's like that's
just not it's not ever going to happen.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
That's not how that works.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Oh maybe it's maybe it's more like a freshman in college,
like being a teaching aid for a class of senior
years in high school. I don't even and then being
friends with them after they graduate high school, which I
think would be normal. I mean, correct me if I'm
wrong here. I'm often wrongs.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Going more to like a work context, It's like maybe
like your boss, or's like someone who used to be
your boss. You worked together and you reported to them.
Now you don't maybe work there, but y'all are still
hanging out or still whatever.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Yeah, y'all are.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Running is share a hobby or share interests like and
that's also not necessarily wrong.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
I just I don't think there's anything. Miss kitty Cat says, well,
the professor can technically do whatever she wants, but this
makes a big difference that she does not have influence
over his grade.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Ms kiddykats a cop.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Let's go. That's the law. That's the law here. Okay,
story time law. But that's just part one. We got
another part for you, oh boy, So let's dive and okay,
if you're new here, this is just part one of
this story. We got some juice left to squeeze, so
