Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is John, this is Sam, your og Okay Storytime
podcast hosts.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
So we have some spectacular stories coming up, but real quick.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
We got a two minute break from our lovely sponsors
keeping this ship sailing.

Speaker 4 (00:11):
I refuse to let my in laws take my daughter
for Christmas. Now they're suing for custody. How are you.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Gonna get the law involved with my daughter?

Speaker 4 (00:21):
Grandparent laws? Dude?

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Grandparent law is a lie. It depending on what.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
State you're in. I thirty female, am the single mother
of Clara to female. My pregnancy wasn't planned. I had
no strings attached relationship with her father, Jack thirty mail
for seven months when I became pregnant unexpectedly. By the way,
this comes from Apprehensive Mixed twenty twenty five and if
you want to submit your own stories, go to our
slash Okay Storytime subred it.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
So.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
He lived in another state but would visit my city
monthly for business reasons, and we hit it off after
meeting in a bar. We thought about our options regarding
the pregnancy, but I decided to keep the baby. Jack
wanted to be a part of her life, so we
planned to raise the baby together, but not a couple,
just co parents. Unfortunately, Jack passed away during my pregnancy.
Oh no, that's wow, that's crazy. Jack's parents, Linda and James,

(01:09):
knew that I was pregnant when he passed. We had
already done a perenity test at the time. We were
all devastated by his passing, but of course his parents
were destroyed by it. Clara is their first and only grandchild,
and she's become their beacon of light in a dark time.

Speaker 6 (01:24):
As they say, ooh, there's no way this is going
to end with them trying to take your.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
Daughter away from you. Yeah, absolutely not.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yikes, why how how do we get there?

Speaker 4 (01:34):
Let's find out they have other two daughters, Ruth thirty
seven female and Lily twenty seven female, but they don't
have children. Ruth is trying to conceive for a long
time with their husband, and Lily is child free and single.
Jack's whole family lives in another state, with the exception
of Lily that lives abroad. They have family business, so
their life is there, while I have my family and

(01:56):
career in my current city where I live with Clara.
Since Clara was or, we have an agreement, nothing legal,
but we've all agreed with visitation for her grandparents and aunts.
They usually visit Clara twice a month. James and Linda
are the ones that visit the most, but Ruth also
shows up sometimes. I really appreciate their presence on her life.
Since the beginning, a point of contention in our relationship

(02:18):
was traveling with Clara to their seat. Oh my gosh, guys,
lock in, dude, huh, lock in. Get the lock here.
I got the lock right here. I got it, I
got it out. Lock it, lock in, turn the key.
Since the beginning, a point of contention in our relationship
was traveling with Clara to their stay. They have a
big property that's in their family for over one hundred
years and have a family business too. In their small town,

(02:39):
they are treated as almost royalty and wanted Clara to
experience that. I understand that it's good for my daughter
to know her heritage, but I also put my foot
down on the idea of their traveling with her without me.
I already visit their hometown three times with Clara since
she was born, but this isn't enough. Apparently our relationship
wasn't perfect. I had some issues with Linda meddling way

(03:01):
too much on my parenting but we were civil until
I started my current relationship. I've been dating Ted thirty four,
male for almost a year, and things are tense with
James and Linda. Ted and I don't live together, and
he has a daughter, Marie, four female, that lives with him.
Linda has expressed disapproval to his constant presence in my house,
which is not true. Both of us work a lot

(03:21):
in between our kids and other priorities. We were able
to see each other three to four times a week
to Marie having play dates and sleepovers with Clara, and
the list goes on. The woman will find a way
to comment something even about Ted's car parked in front
of my house. Well, it's because she wants you to
never move on from.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
Jack goodness gracious and that that was his name, right, yep,
Jack Jack Jack or Jack and aunt Jack.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
Families like this are a nightmare to deal with. The
old money.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
I've been here for a hundred when beers are.

Speaker 6 (03:53):
More dude, come on, come on, it's did you have
a family like that in your town?

Speaker 4 (03:58):
I guess my family is like that. Were I not
like You're.

Speaker 6 (04:01):
More like a legacy family. You're not like the lords
of the land. I'm even like Yellowstone. I mean I'm
thinking about stuff. Oh yeah, I'm thinking about the other like.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Sawmill in our county, and they kind of are like that,
Like they got sponsorship with the high school football team
and they're kind of like I kind of like.

Speaker 6 (04:19):
You're like the everyman saw Mill and they're like the
elitist and the family boy saw Mill. Yeah, Loki, Loki, Yeah, yeah, dude,
I'm glad you're not from the pretty boy saw mill.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Right. No, yeah, no, Like one time I went there
to get something and they overcharged me and also didn't
tell me where to get the right thing.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Oh bad service, bad bad prices, bad service.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Yeah, dude you Anyways, things escalated when two weeks ago,
I got an email Linda, James and Ruth an invite
for Christmas Eve. Ted and I will have a get
together with our families and close friends. I decided to
invite Clara's grandparents so they can extend Christmas Eve with her,
but I also let them know that if they prefer,
they can take her for lunch on Christmas Day. The

(05:00):
next day, Linda texted me that they already had plans
to take Clara to their home on Christmas I said
this was not happening. I didn't hear anything from her
for about two days. Lenda called me stating that she
gave me two days to cool off and to be reasonable.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Bro.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Best thing to tell someone, calm down, cool off.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
This is her daughter.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Be reasonable about her.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
You just made an executive decision about what her daughter's
gonna do for a holiday without consulting her mom.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
But like, that's her grandchild. Yeah, you're not the mom.
It's a consultation at the very least. I asked what
she meant, and she said they have rights over Clara
and that they had waited too much to take her
home for Christmas. Now she is bigger and can travel
without me. I said that that was never discussed and
I will not let them travel with my daughter without
discussing with me before. Linda said this was the discussion

(05:49):
before the travel. I laughed on the call and said
that she was delusional.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
Oh is she trying to say that they discussed it
years ago when the kid was born.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Yeah, they probably were making stuff up. Have zero receipts,
show bow, they have zero rights. This is crazy.

Speaker 6 (06:04):
I mean, why, Look, it's like, clearly, like the father
of this child like pasted unexpectedly.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
They're only grandkids. This is their grandkid, the only grandchilder
probably will have for a while.

Speaker 6 (06:16):
Yeah, I mean yeah, theoretically they could have a very positive,
like healthy relationship even though Jack is passed. But like
trying to just be like, nope, we have the rights
as grandparents and we're taking her for Christmas. Goodness, that's
not how you communicate as a person, but that tracks
for that. Our family's been here for one hundred years

(06:37):
and this is we we have this, we have money
and blah blah blah. It's like that's just how these
people move. They're like, well, what do you mean? This
is what I want?

Speaker 4 (06:43):
So this is what's going to happen. Mm hm, dude,
low key. I'm grateful for my cousin having kids because
the stress of me having kids lifted off my shoulders
once my grandparents had a great Grandberry the baby. And
now I might need to go back to North Carolina
and all April because she's having a second kid.

Speaker 6 (06:59):
Yeah yeah, well, congratulations, thank you for them. I'm not
right and another another little Wilson running around bumgarner.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Yeah whatever, or I guess schwantz. You could say their
last names. Yeah, yeah, a little heathen running around saw
Mill Heathen. It'll always be a Wilson to me. Yeah, well,
so to explain it, sorry, it's Wilson, which was my
dad's side, but like I don't really know a lot
of my dad's family, but like it's Bumgarner, so it's
like the Bumgarner family. I'm more of a Bumgarner than Wilson.

(07:26):
I just am Wilson, Will Gardner, Will Gardner. You know
what bumgarner means in German tree farmer.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Ah.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
Yeah, all right, ain't that cool? That was not what
I was expecting. Yeah, no, no, Anyways, Linda said this
was the discussion before the travel. I leftter the call
and said she was delusional. Things escalated quickly after that.
I was accused of trying to replace Jack on Clara's life,
and I also said some things that were a little
cruel about Jack never meeting Clara.

Speaker 6 (07:55):
Oh no, okaya, dude, Well you're taking shots that you're
no longer living. Baby daddy, previous fiance, husband, boyfriend, baby daddy.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
No strings attached, baby daddy. There was no there's no boyfriend,
there's nothing really. Yep, they just were they hooked up
no strings attached. She let him know, and then he
passed away before she gave birth to Clara. Where were
you I did? I was? I was still warming up
at the beginning, Like they said in Sefferance, Where did
you go? No, I don't know, just swait. You're gonna
you're gonna hear it, and you're gonna hear my voice.

(08:29):
You're gonna hear that happen. You're gonna be like, oh, Riley.
I'm like at the point where I don't want to
say anything anyway. Sorry, Serfence comes out tomorrow night. Welcome
to the Severance Podcast. After Linda hung up on me,
James called and tried to reason with me. They let
us slip that they bought Clara's plane tickets two months
ago without asking me. First, dude, lell me move. I

(08:50):
said there's no way I would let them walk all
over me. James lost his temper and demanded that I
should apologize for Linda or we will go to court
over this. I didn't back down and said they were
choosing to fight over this, not me. Well, after some
time of silence from them, I was served with court papers.
They're assuing me over custody of Clara and are stating
that I am unfit as a mother. Already have a

(09:12):
lawyer who I consult before or fight over the phone.
She told me yesterday they have almost zero chance of
getting any custody. Okay, after hearing that sentence, we're not
even like a fourth void done, so like I feel
like they do have a chance.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Battle will ensue.

Speaker 6 (09:27):
That's the thing that she says, almost zero, because if
these people just decided to throw millions of dollars at this, yeah,
they could probably somehow, you know, bankrupt op from legal
fees and then go see she's got no money, she
can't be a parent.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Yikes. And now I'm thinking about inheritance, like Clara's probably
set up if the two other daughters can't have kids.
Who knows?

Speaker 6 (09:49):
These sound like spiteful demon grandparents. Not gonna lie, They're
just yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Need to make my will. The most they can give
is visitation. But still I worry about this a legal battle.
People in my life are divined. Part of them think
I did wrong by putting up boundaries, and others think
it's petty of me to start a find with my
daughter's grandparents when I could let them travel with her
for Christmas when I know they are good grandparents and

(10:15):
we'll take care of her. So am I the a whole?
Do we need clarifications or do we want to like
if she's a whole or not? I would say she's not.

Speaker 6 (10:22):
I mean I think that only the a whole talking
about Jack. Yeah, Tom shots it at their son.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
That's bad.

Speaker 6 (10:28):
But also they put you there, oh yeah, because it's
like they've just did this without consulting you. Literally her
mom like, can you imagine? I can't imagine. That's why
that's at least a conversation. Yeah, you gotta be like, hey,
we'd love to have Claria for.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Christmas, Like, let's figure out something that works for her
and for you and we can you.

Speaker 7 (10:50):
Know, see, that would be too easy. Yeah, it's not
gonna happen. Well, that hasn't happened. I don't think it's
gonna happen for the rest of the story.

Speaker 6 (10:57):
They're fermented by by smoked oak caskets and old money,
and they've they've been pickled.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
They're stuck to the old ways.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
They're just sour pickle people.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
Yeah, Kean would eat them alive. I would. Some clarifications
are needed, how Linda and James know about the details
about my life, how they know about Ted's car and
Marie's playdates. They do live in another state, but they
also visit very often. At least twice a month. They
come to see Clara, and they come to my house
to pick her up and to leave her after their outings.

(11:29):
This is how Linda realized Ted's car in the front
of my driveway, since I live in a gated community
and it's forbidden for this type of parking unless it's
a homeowner's car. The first time she saw this car,
Linda asked if I would call the security to tow
the car. I said no, because it was Ted's car.
They also used to FaceTime Clara three times a week.
That's how they learned about some of their playdates and

(11:50):
sleepovers with Marie. They called when Marie was still at
the house with Clara and saw her. They expected my
toddler to travel alone on a plane. No, I think
I could to explain well enough. James said they would
travel to my city, take Clara with them on the
plane to their state, and after a week they would
bring her back. She was never supposed to do travel alone.

(12:11):
For what they were planning do I believe they are
going to kidnap my daughter. I don't know. I think
it's possible. Some comments made me paranoid. To be honest,
James said they bought her tickets back, but I don't
think I should trust him without proof. Their words mean nothing. Now, dude,
I didn't even think about that.

Speaker 6 (12:28):
I mean, that's probably not They're probably not planning that.
They're probably not planning that.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
The percentage of accounting you is low, but it's not zero, which.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
We'll call it the it's like a fact not zero.

Speaker 6 (12:39):
But like I'm pretty sure Claria would be like, at
some point just say I want to go home and
see my mom.

Speaker 4 (12:45):
Well she's four, I know, or right, But by the
time you get to four, dude, it's like you become
very attached. You do not. I don't know you can
play the grandparent game.

Speaker 7 (12:52):
You do know it's statistically hired to for a cow
to get you more than a shark.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yep, stop this, no seriously, Well, yeah, of course it is.

Speaker 6 (13:01):
Because I'm not swimming in the ocean where the sharks are. No,
I'm standing on land where the cows are. Also, why
are we talking about this? The point is I don't
think these grandparents are gonna steal the child because the
child is old enough to be like, I miss my mom,
give me my mom.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
And once the kid does that, what are you gonna do?

Speaker 1 (13:18):
And be like, oh my god, I'm not afraid of snakes.

Speaker 6 (13:20):
Did you know that snakes are actually most things unless
they can make noise.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
They don't scare me like the bugs that go they
scare me.

Speaker 6 (13:28):
No, the bugs that don't like I came across the
Tarantula and Albuquerque on a hike and all the people
I was hiking with like freaked out, and I was
just like, right up.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
I was just like this, I know, mister Tarantula. What
did you do me?

Speaker 7 (13:39):
No?

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Thanks, I am all right gonna wear this. Do I
still have contact with them?

Speaker 7 (13:44):
No?

Speaker 4 (13:45):
My lawyer advised me to call all visits, video calls
with Clara, and communicate only with my daughter's grandparents through
our lawyers. They are not blocked on my phone, but
I will not receive any call from them. If they
text me or email me, I'll have it since my
lawyer trust me. Today was all about making a f
you binder and documenting every little thing. Thank you for

(14:07):
the advice. Guys, and don't worry much. Clara and I
live in a very secure community with cameras in armed security.
No one will take her from me. We got some
relevant comments here. Number one, they bought plane tickets two
months ago without asking you. That's not planning ahead. That's
the lusional travel agency energy. You are Clara's mom, and
not some vacation rental that they can book an airbnb

(14:28):
with OPI exactly. That's what pissed me off the most.
Who does that with someone else's child. They act like
Clara is their child, not mine.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
True, Come in here.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
Two.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
If I were you, I would get the most aggressive,
underhanded lawyer I could find to drag their names through
the mud. You cannot trust your child with them. They
do not respect you. They are selfish and unreasonable bullies.
Fight fire with fire, not the A home Hopie says.
My lawyer is very fierce lady with almost twenty years
of experience in family law. My sister is a lawyer

(15:00):
and was her student in college. She immediately said I
should phone her former teacher and I did. Dangs, she
got the best. She took the advice. Even when your
sister says, hey, call this person up. You know what's up?
You got it?

Speaker 6 (15:15):
Yeah, the inter family recommendation, goodness, gracious, inter sibling wrecks.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Coming to three, not the A Hole. This is your child.
They have no right to demand anything, and you were
kind enough to include them in your life at all.
You have a security system at your house. I would
be worried about them showing up. Hope, he says. I
have very good security system in my home. My dad
made sure to supervise the installation when I moved to
my house while pregnant. There's no way they will show
up without being recorded. Coming to four, not the A hole.

(15:42):
You have been more than kind in fostering a relationship
with them. I am positive they will not get custody.
But I am curious about grandparent law rights. This is
a thing in your country slash state. If it is,
I would fight to make sure all the visits are
near you. It would look bad for them to take
her and try and keep her away from you. But
they already have proven to be shady and underhanded. Op says.

(16:05):
According to my lawyer, since Jack he's passed away, they
have grandparent riots here in my country, but only visitation
and only on the same city the child lives. She
thinks there's no way they'll have custody, so this can
make them have less access to her than before. Op
clarifies details for barding the inheritance Clara has in her
country after Jack's passing here, her inheritance is already secure

(16:28):
and received. She inherited fifty percent of her father's assets
and will receive his share when her grandparents pass away.

Speaker 6 (16:36):
It's the law, dang, It's a lot of assets, bro
a lot of asset, dude, that's a whole.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
Lot of asset.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Dang. Here.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
If you pass away without being married or having a
common law partner, you have to live at least six
months with someone to be considered a legal partner. Fifty
percent go to any children you have, and fifty percent
go to your parents. In case your parents aren't alive,
one hundred percent will go to your children. The other
way around, if you're childless, one hundred percent will go
to your parents if they are alive. There's no need
for an executor here. Executor.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
Sorry, it's literally the exact same as executor, but it's
in this context pronounced executor.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
There's no need for an executor for her to receive
the inheritance, but I did put her assets on an
investment trust to avoid issues in the future or accusations
that I use all of her money. Dude, Oh pee, Op,
no kids it dude. Do you see these? Do you
see these? My god?

Speaker 6 (17:30):
These are all the ducks in the row. That's where
Op is putting them. All of your ducks. We're almost
safway there are rowed up. They row row row your boat.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
We got an update guys two months later. Thoughts, do
you think they're gonna kidnapp her? No?

Speaker 6 (17:43):
I don't think they're And look, there were comments where
it's like statistically like it is, yeah, an abduction or
a kidnapping is more likely to happen from somebody that
you know or like a family member. But my thing
is that I feel like the vibe is more like
I don't think they're just going to try to swindle
the child away.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
Yeah. I think they're probably emotionally react to this because.

Speaker 6 (18:00):
It's like throwing her last connection they have also to
their son, true, so there's a lot going into it
with that.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
I think these are probably just people who are all.

Speaker 6 (18:09):
Hurting in a certain way that are like just not
going about communicating effectively whatsoever. And also these people are
cleanly like super loaded. They're just used to just getting
whatever they want anyway. And so then this person being
like that's my daughter, Like, no, I'm not just gonna
have her go to Christmas if you don't talk to
me about.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
It at all.

Speaker 6 (18:27):
You could have talked to her about it months ago
when you bought the tickets, and then it probably would
have worked out, but because you were just being entitled
and weird about it, it didn't. And now you want
us to be I'm going to sue you for your child.
That's also not going to work out.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
In the long run. Ke On, what do you think?

Speaker 7 (18:41):
This is such a sticky situation that I want to
see how it plays out. But I feel like Ope
is going to get get them away. But I'm surprised,
like they're not gone by now, like you this was
all coming, like you can see the steps and everything
that's going on. I just don't understand, like why are
they trying to do this so like are they pushing
so much for the like they do they not see

(19:03):
that this is making the child like not because it's
what the child's for.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
Right, child is not aware of any of this.

Speaker 7 (19:08):
Child's not aware of it, but indaga, it's gonna happen eventually.

Speaker 5 (19:12):
It's gonna happen, sooner or later. They're not thinking down
the line.

Speaker 4 (19:15):
They're really not. They're thinking now what I want now?
This is what I want now.

Speaker 7 (19:18):
And that's not as that's the best mind that's not
the best mindset for all you're.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Trying to establish relationship like this long term.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
Yeah, they're literally blowing it immediately. Yeah, when two months
have passed and a lot has happened since. My life
was really chaotic for some weeks, and I felt bad
that I couldn't celebrate Christmas the way I truly wanted
to because I was constantly worried about the custody lawsuit.
I am relieved to say, now this is all over, Yes,
and she won clearly go probably got Hopefully she countersuits.

(19:47):
Also to the ones worried about Clara, I thank you
guys for being so gentle. To be honest, I think
more people were nice and gentle than Bully, So I'm
thankful for your well wishes from the bottom of my heart.
Clara is healthy and happy. Luckily nobody tried anything to
take her from me. I know a lot of you
said they could try and kidnapped her. I'm still worried
about it, but nothing has happened. After I made my post,

(20:09):
I spent several days working with my lawyer, my family,
and even with the home security company I hired to
ensure that Clara was safe, all my security cameras were working,
and that I had all the documentation needed for court.
My lawyer and I prepared tons of documentations about me, Clara,
and even got the backlogs of visitation in my gated

(20:29):
community that proves that Ted has never spent the night here.
My family were very aware about my fears of kidnapping,
and they made sure to always be around us. I
have to thank you guys for the incredible advices I got.
I don't want to put too much weight on talking
about haters because ninety percent of the comments and messages
were truly nice and caring. I tried my best to
listen to my lawyer and many things you guys said

(20:51):
we could do to ensure our safety. Not only that,
but I talked to Clara's pediatrician, pediatric disidentists, swimming teacher,
and even my parents church where Clara sometimes goes to
kids classes, they are all aware of the lawsuit and
that nobody should give up information about Clara or me
under no circumstances. That is so smart. I've never even

(21:11):
thought about.

Speaker 6 (21:12):
That, what like like if you're if you're going getting
ahead of it, getting ahead of it, and then to
do that and then also being like, yo, hey, if anyone,
if someone random asked about Clara, please do not share
any information.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
Well, yeah, it's crazy to think about that.

Speaker 6 (21:27):
We grew up in a time where like that wasn't
really a thing. Like anybody could have just like walked
into my elementary school and been like, hey to go
to his uncle and they'd be like okay, Like yeah,
and then fast forward. By the time I graduated high school,
it's like they basically had all the schools locked down
like reverse prisons. Yeah, it's like you're not getting in

(21:49):
unless you know exactly, unless you know everything about you,
you're not getting in here. So but yeah, that's that's
always if you know that there's a freaky individual out
there like going after your kid or something, or that
they might like definitely tell the place where they're going
to be most of the week, Like hey, this person
might roll.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
Up, dude, show bell such an unfit parent making sure
that her daughter has fully well rounded upbringings right up
by family and friends, also with a lot of security.
Get so unfit dude, unfit dude, this is crazy fit.
Come on, gosh, they are all in the same page
and are giving us support and being understanding. Some people
also advised me to speak to Clara's aunts to know

(22:28):
if they're aware of the lawsuit and the possibility that
their parents could try and take my daughter. I was
not sure how to do this. My lawyer said that
I could try to communicate them with them, but all
via text or email, so you can have like the
receipts or I could do this. Lily, Jack's younger sister
that lives in Europe, texted me you asked if I
receive Clara's Christmas gift she sent through.

Speaker 7 (22:49):
Now.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
I saw this as an opportunity and wrote a text
explaining what was happening with her parents. Lily said she
had no idea about the lawsuit or that they wanted
to take Clara for carissmis and flying with her on
a plane. She said that she would speak with Ruth
and ask her about this. Since Ruth at the time
was very distant from her family group chat. A day later,
created a group chat to talk to me. Uh oh,

(23:12):
we got some middleman going on here. I think what happened.
Ruth went to Lily. Yeahda YadA YadA. Oh, this actually
didn't happen, and now Ruth is on Lily side. That's
a hot take. I'll see, we'll see. They asked to
have a video call with me, I said, I out
of talking with my lawyer first. My lawyer agreed to
me doing the call if they let me record it
or make sure nothing would be used against me. Both agreed.

(23:32):
When we had a video call that was enlightening to me.
Ruth apologized to me for being distant from our lives.
Over the past months, she was dealing with many personal issues,
but had happy news to share. Ruth went through her
third IVF round and as of now, she is around
twenty two weeks pregnant with their first child. Oh wow,
she kept everything quiet. Wait, wait, so Ruth Ruth is

(23:54):
the other sister. Yes, Ruth is the old Lily and
Ruth are Okay, who what's the mom's name? Wait?

Speaker 6 (24:00):
Is Lily the one who's thirty seven? Or is Ruth
the one who's thirty seven. Lily's the older one.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Ruth is the older one, Lily is the younger one.
Just Ruth and her husband Sam knew about the IVF
proceedings and the pregnancy. She said this was because Linda
used to put too much pressure and stress over time
as they tried IVF, Ruth was visiting herself from things
that raised her anxiety levels, and her mom was a
main source of anxiety. Her pargency is a good news,
but did it surprise me? Since I knew she was

(24:25):
trying for a baby. I'm happy she was finally able
to conceive. Here, I have to explain that Linda is
what people call boy mom. She never got along with
her daughters. I had an inkling about that, but since
I was not close to them, I had no idea
how bad her relationship with her daughters were. They just
seemed distance and James was closer to her daughter's. Yeah,
we got a story about a boy mom yesterday. Thought.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
I thought we promised we didn't talk about that anymore.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
We misved in earlier for Sophio let her know, keep
an eye on that.

Speaker 6 (24:54):
Oh and then she was like, I didn't do that yeah,
she's probably true. Yeah, it was if it was anyone
who's probably And then she tried to accuse us that
we said we're on the fifth story, but we're actually
in the fourth.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
And then someone went back and was like, no, you're wrong.

Speaker 6 (25:08):
She's got all kinds of wild accusations. She throws around
all the time. Tell me about it, man's.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
When when she's off camera. Bro, No, I'm just kidding. No,
she was great, she's wondering, just goofing. We say good
things behind her back, bad things in front of her.
Ruth swore that she didn't know about the lawsuit until
Lily called her the day before that. After this, she
talked to her dad and to his best friend, who
is a lawyer, to understand what's going on. She was

(25:35):
surprised that James's friend didn't know anything about the lawsuit,
since he's usually the lawyer representing them. James, on the
other hand, tried to divert the subject when Ruth asked,
but she pressured him and eventually he fold and told
her everything. James claims that he didn't want to assue me,
but Linda's mental health has deteriorated to the point that

(25:56):
he feared for her well being. Does that I mean
you should go out and hire a lawyer, then a
lawyer or a sawyer. Yeah, I don't know. Get a lawyer.
We can do with a sawyer. Put them to work. You
know what sawyers do, right, they're sawyers. Yeah, they have
big soul.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
They work the soul. Well, yeah, definitely, don't. You don't
need a sawyer.

Speaker 4 (26:15):
Yeah no, but dude, that's wild. The only thing that
could make her get out of the bed is Clara
and the thought of having her around. He ignored that
this makes Linda the one who's not fit to raise
a child, not me. His plan was to pressure me
with a lawsuit in order to make me to accept
a better deal of visitation for them. They wanted more
days with her and to be able to travel with

(26:36):
her to their home multiple times a year. James never
said that they wanted to keep her forever. But I'm
not trusting on his words. My trust is shattered. Ruth
and Sam tored James a new one for suing me
over custody to manipulate me, and for not forcing Linda
to go to therapy. He claimed Linda doesn't accept the
idea of going to see a therapist as she is

(26:57):
not crazy, and said that she would not go under
no circumstance. Ruth had to threaten James that if he
didn't withdraw the lawsuit and get the help Linda and
him needed, she would go no contact and resign from
the family business.

Speaker 6 (27:12):
Whoa, oh, oh, now you're messing with the family logistics. Oh.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
She was very worried about the idea of doing the
same to Sam in case she passes away and their
child is left with their husband. James kind of broke
after this and caved to Ruth's demands. After my call
with Ruth and Lily, I was under the knowledge that
the lawsuit would be terminated.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Okay, all right, very good, very good.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Unfortunately, in my country from the twentieth of December until
the twentieth of January, the courts are on break and
they deal with emergency cases. Mine wasn't. Their lawyer reached
out to Mind to talk about the end of the
lawsuit and about riding a visitation agreement that the family
courts would approve. Well, agree to work on this, but
I would only sign any visitation agreement after they had

(27:58):
withdrawn their loss for custody and if only they agreed
to follow my rules.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
Fair.

Speaker 4 (28:04):
I don't see anything wrong here.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Sounds fair to me.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
Yeah, this is what a very fit parent would do.

Speaker 6 (28:10):
Sounds like you have more than ample proof that you are,
in fact a good parent.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
Yeah, dude. And crazy that they try to get Clara
while Linda is not a good headspace whatsoever.

Speaker 6 (28:20):
Now it's like and it just again, it totally tracks
with this whole with what seems to be the vibe
of their family history and their background, where it's just like,
we get what we want. We don't care why or
how or if it's even good for the kid.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
All that matters is what we want exactly for what
I know, after being pressured by her whole family, Linda
eventually accepted to start therapy and she's seeing a psychiatrist
and a therapist. She was diagnosed with depression and PTSD
related to Jack's death.

Speaker 6 (28:48):
That's fair. Yeah, again, which is what I would say.
It's like there's a lot of complicated.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Emotions going into this exactly.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
I know this because my lawyer demanded that her doctors
had to put an evaluation of Linda's mental state in
order to our legal agreement for me to accept a
visitation deal with Clara's grandparents. I never said here, but
Jack's death was sudden and violent. He was a victim
of a robbery gone wrong. It was a car I

(29:17):
don't know what I was thinking. I thought, I mean,
I thought it was tragic. I didn't think it was
a crime. Dude, Oh man, WHOA, that's wild. All of
us were shocked about his passing, but Linda and James
took the brunt of it. I always felt they didn't
more enough, since they switched their attention to my pregnancy
a few weeks after his passing, and I was right
to thank that. In our visitation agreement, I also demanded

(29:39):
that both James and Linda have to go through grief counseling,
to which they agreed a number of sessions. Me, James,
and Linda are attending virtual family therapy for the first
few months of our agreement to make sure we're on
in a healthy space to deal with our relationship and
put Clara's well being first. Regarding to this, I have
nothing to complain about. They accepted my terms pretty easily.

(30:00):
They did try to fight against the idea of supervised visitation,
but I had no reason to accept otherwise. Now they
will visit Clara twice a month on a family center
in my city. This is something my country has, is
a public building where things related to custody of miners
and family problems regarding custody are handled. They have very
good security there. Visits will be supervised by a social

(30:22):
worker who was assigned to our case by the judge
as signed or a visitation or reement. But my fears
of kidnapping, I'd say I didn't feel validated by my
country's laws. Basically, me and my lawyer went to a
police station and we did an occurrence about the possibility
of a kidnapp They didn't seem to take this seriously.
As of now, they will not press charges. Why would

(30:43):
they press charges.

Speaker 6 (30:44):
Well, I mean, yeah, no one's been, no one's been,
no one's been kidnapped.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
They probably yeah, that makes sense. I mean whether they're
not like, did they give you advice where they just
like stop bothering us?

Speaker 6 (30:53):
Well whatever advice that if they gave you the advice
to do whatever you've just done, and then that was
great advice because I feel like we were at now
perfect Your lawyer is doing exactly the right thing, and
laws people need therapy and guidance and supervision.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
If they're going to continue to interact with this.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Child, whish they it's probably for the best they do.

Speaker 6 (31:12):
It's like, you know, I have a lot of good
memories with my grandparents. Grandparents are an important part of
a kid's Oh.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
Yeah, absolutely, you know. Yeah, but dude, you got to
I don't think you need to go to the police station.
You're in a Yieta community, you got cameras up, you
got family that's close.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
At this point, it seems like we're back on the rails.
Everything's on track.

Speaker 6 (31:30):
People, We're understanding each other a little bit better, and
I think with some time and doing the therapy.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
It's like it could be.

Speaker 6 (31:35):
It could be a healthy dynamic and a healthy relationship
for all parties involved.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
If you really want to know where they're at, put
GPSS in their cars. I don't think that's legal. That's true.

Speaker 6 (31:44):
If you want to know where someone's at, you track them,
yellow jack them.

Speaker 5 (31:48):
Just do the trusty thing and be like, find my friends.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
At least there's paperwork. What my friends. Share your location
with everyone?

Speaker 6 (31:55):
I expect to have your location immediately, speaking of you
don't share it with me?

Speaker 4 (31:59):
Yeah, you share it with me.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
Uh oh, I'll do it.

Speaker 6 (32:04):
Fine, I'll do it.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
At least there's paperwork regarding my fears. James ended up
sending my lawyer Clara's plane tickets to proof. They bought
her two tickets and we're not planning on staying with her.
Since they have money, I don't think it would be
hard for them to buy a ticket back knowing they
will not use it, so I'm still not trusting or
believing them. I don't have plans of letting them visit

(32:27):
Clara without supervision. Even their aunts know that to see
Clara they have to be supervised too. Everyone is accepting
of this right now, and the visits have started over
a couple of weeks ago. Let's see what happens in
the future. I also don't intend on traveling to their
stay or city in the near future. I'm truly scared
about the chances of them using their power to take

(32:48):
my daughter, so I will not make it easier for them,
And you can make it easier for yourself. If you
go to your favorite podcast platform, search up Okay, Storytime
on Apple, Spotify, wherever you listen to podcasts, and boom,
there will be a plethora stories just like this one,
and yeah, go there.

Speaker 6 (33:06):
They might even be juicier than this one. This one
does have a lot of juice.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
It's like her double endow a mellow juice.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
This is the play by play.

Speaker 6 (33:13):
What you need to do to make sure your child
is safe and truly that this is a great blueprint.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Like I expected this to be a lot worse.

Speaker 6 (33:19):
I expected this to be like the lording in laws
would be well in laws.

Speaker 4 (33:24):
I don't know what would you call them.

Speaker 6 (33:26):
They never got married, but yeah, I thought they were
going to leverage that money and just like try to
steal that bakers, but they didn't.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
They're just hurting and with some therapy and some you know, some.

Speaker 6 (33:36):
Social services, I think I think this will I think
this will all work out in the end.

Speaker 4 (33:41):
I think everyone can be happy. Yeah, absolutely, last a
little bit. Thank you again for all the well wishes.
As of now, Clara and her mama Bear are doing
well and enjoying a couple of days I take to
spend the quality time together and finally celebrate since our
Christmas was very stressful. Oh my gosh, I'm done with
this story. I think she's just talking about me, and

(34:01):
what do you mean she's just talking about her lawyer's recommendations.
I think we should read no story. What she's just
doubling down? I need more? We already got it.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
No, there's what else do you need?

Speaker 4 (34:11):
Well, she's just talking about how she's doubling down with
her lawyer and all the steps that she's taking. But
like there's nothing else to really talk about here. It's
reading no story. Okay, Well, guys, that's it. That is
that story. We have another one coming up right now.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
Hey, it's Sam, your og host here. We're gonna get
back to the stories. But here's three minutes of bads
from our sponsors.

Speaker 6 (34:28):
My sister in law got offended over my social media
posts and I want to go no contact weir.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
I'll just forget about it and keep posting.

Speaker 6 (34:36):
Forget about Buckle up, because this one's a long context.
Me thirty nine female, forty in less than two months,
and my husband, thirty eight male, have been together for
more than half of our lives.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
Really making me do math there, Opie.

Speaker 6 (34:52):
We are high school sweethearts, as we started dating in
December two thousand and two. He has two older sisters,
Alice and Rebecca. Alice is a teacher and Rebecca is
a veterinarian. This will be important later. By the way,
this comes from users Sudden Run twenty one one one,
and if you want to submit your own stories, go
to the r slash Okay storytime subreddit. So, my relationship
with my husband's sisters hasn't always been perfect, but the

(35:15):
oldest and I usually get along. However, myself and Rebecca,
I would say we're pretty close. We always made a
point to hang out together when life got busy. We
would go to the movies together now and then, or
go on spa dates so we could talk and catch
up on life. I visited her down in the States
when she was going to school, and she shared a
lot with me and my husband for that matter. She

(35:35):
always said that he would be her first call if
she was ever in need of someone's help. This type
of relationship continued on even after she had her first child.
We were so close that before her first child was born,
she made my husband and I the godparents. She was
our first call when we lost our first.

Speaker 4 (35:51):
Son at twenty eight weeks pregnant. Thing. Hmmm, that's tough. Ah,
that's a tough one. Well, you know, that's a special bond.
I have somebody be that first call man.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Yep, real quick.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
I don't like how this is set up, because you
were establishing how close you are to this friend. I
feel like something really bad is about to happen here. Well,
they're probably gonna turn on. They're gonna flip. They're gonna
do a one to eighty flip.

Speaker 5 (36:13):
Yeah, Tony Hawk, do it, do it all.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
Right, let's do this. Let's do the rest of the story.

Speaker 6 (36:17):
In September of twenty twenty three, we had the opportunity
to go out to Alberta with my husband, our son,
who was four months old at the time. His parents,
my husband, Rebecca, and her two children. Her husband was
gifted an extravagant hunting trip from Rebecca the Christmas before,
so she thought it would be great if we could
all go and meet with him once his trip was over.
Their mom has a brother living out there, and his

(36:39):
wedding gift to the Nieces has always been a trip
out west. Since my husband and I got married in
June of twenty twenty, he graciously paid for our flight
so we could join in on the fun.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
Wait when did ope get married or was their friend?
June twenty twenty that's when they got married. Yes, they've
been together and their husband. It took them eighteen years.
That's crazy. Sorry, they were in high school, but they
they've been together for like twenty years. They got together.

Speaker 6 (37:03):
Do it if you're still together with your high school like,
if you're gonna do a high school sweetheart like relationship,
I am waiting that long to get married because I'm
gonna make sure that's real, real, legit ski.

Speaker 4 (37:12):
Well, then basically you've been married the whole time. Like,
if you're together for twenty years and didn't get married,
maybe they got married and they maybe they had a
secret wedding. Shut up, No, they did not have a
secret wedding.

Speaker 6 (37:23):
Riley hates secret weddings. Wedding Oh okay. Anyway, the trip
was spectacular, the mountains breathtakingly beautiful.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
As always.

Speaker 6 (37:34):
Rebecca and I were even able to have one of
our spat dates while we were there. Here's what I
think our relationship turned for the worst. What what?

Speaker 4 (37:44):
Yeah? I think some people don't like the snake.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
Oh this is all Riley's fault.

Speaker 6 (37:48):
Also, why don't you like snakes? If you don't like snakes,
I got beef with you. Dude, why don't we like snakes?

Speaker 4 (37:52):
Huh?

Speaker 5 (37:53):
So Dakota doesn't like people who don't like snakes.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
Yeah, I got to.

Speaker 6 (37:55):
Be beef with those who are against snakes for no reason.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
I bet you like snakes they eat dogs.

Speaker 6 (38:01):
Actually that's not true. Any other questions commons her concern?

Speaker 4 (38:05):
What's the Resta's story?

Speaker 6 (38:09):
During our pedicures, Rebecca was going on and on about
how their parents always overlooked her when she was growing
up and that she never got anything she wanted.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
With a confused look on my face, I said.

Speaker 6 (38:20):
But what about all of the dance and horseback lessons
and the horses and the schooling.

Speaker 4 (38:25):
She kind of looked at me and went quiet.

Speaker 6 (38:27):
She didn't talk to me much after that during the trip,
but I didn't think much of it as I was
having a blast with my little family. Dude, all it
took was pressing her one time on her bs for
her to completely like, turn on you.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
That's crazy. She just had that loaded in and you
ask one question, one pushback, and then.

Speaker 6 (38:44):
She blah, she's Done's like I never got anything I wanted.
It's like you literally had horseback lessons and you had horses.
A lot of kids want that, explicitly want that and
never get that, and you got that, I'm.

Speaker 4 (38:57):
Never talking to you again. Lol.

Speaker 6 (38:59):
Okay, anyway, I know she's about to bring up some
f up crap here. Yeah, she's about to do something crazy.
We had rented our own car as well, so we
could explore on our own.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
When we arrived home.

Speaker 6 (39:10):
Their mom unfortunately came down with pneumonia in October. Her
doctor didn't catch this until the second time. She got
really sick and finally took the blood work and got
a chest X ray. In our family group chat, their mom,
Jane wondered why the doctor would be calling her at
home making sure that she was okay and was able
to get the medication she needed for the pneumonia. So,
being the silly person I am, I wrote, she done

(39:30):
effed up.

Speaker 4 (39:31):
This triggered Rebecca. She exploded with insults towards me, saying
that I was uneducated and that when a horse presents
these symptoms, they don't always go for a chest X
ray because it could be something else. She's bringing up horses,
m we're talking about people. She's like, so, like one
time my horse jumped over an obstacle and it went great.
Maybe you should try that. We've lost him, folks. Dang it,

(39:53):
I thought that was relatable. We've lost him.

Speaker 6 (39:55):
Oh sorry, guys, it's okay, dude. This was literally me
when you tapped me out this morning.

Speaker 7 (40:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (40:00):
If you hadn't tapped me out and I read one
of those five k's, i'd be reading it like how
you're on the couch right now.

Speaker 4 (40:06):
Dude, it's been a week. It's only Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
I'm a doctor, so this is what's usually done.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
I am a doctor.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
Yeah, horse doctor. I also a doctor. I'm a doctor.
I am a doctor of horses. I am a doctor doctor.

Speaker 4 (40:21):
Horse, your doctor, horse doctor horse.

Speaker 6 (40:25):
Okay, ah, okay, we're gonna go okay. I also need
to mention that I am a stay at home mom
with my son who's now twenty one months old, shut up,
say a year and a half, and now our daughter
four months. I always like to post my opinion on
social media, especially when it pertains to being a stay
at home mom, homeschooling, and homesteading, because this is what

(40:48):
I am striving to be for myself and for my family,
a homemaker, if you will, dude, I.

Speaker 4 (40:53):
Love posting my opinion on social media. It's like, literally
my favorite thing to do. Yeah, and then do you
just watch as the world burns? Yeah, that's why everyone
lost your opinion. You go. And then it's just every
time Sophia puts one of her little posts on on Instagram,
I like make sure to say something what one of
her little posts. She'll like make a post and I'm like,

(41:14):
ha ha, and it'll say something You're just annoying older,
that's all you are. Just just it's annoying.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
Brother.

Speaker 4 (41:24):
No, she hates me sometimes when I say stuff and
she just doesn't reply.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
Oh, I do it to her two though, I've been
doing it to her recently about her.

Speaker 6 (41:32):
Dude, you're thinking with the word so I go, Sophia,
what do you see in your head right now when
you think of that word?

Speaker 4 (41:40):
What do you see?

Speaker 1 (41:40):
And she just goes, shut up, shut up. I'm like,
what do you see that?

Speaker 4 (41:44):
I love? Sofia fun, She's sold love you, Sophia, are
you watching? You see it? Where in front of you?
And and what do you what do you see right now?
When you say when you see the B word in
your head? What do you see, Sophia, bee? What do
you see?

Speaker 2 (41:59):
A bee?

Speaker 4 (41:59):
Buzz?

Speaker 6 (42:00):
Josephine midelerberq was Miller Painton her herschman says, I am
a waterhorse sentry egg.

Speaker 4 (42:04):
Full body ogezum, doctor dude, get back on track. We're
almost on the story.

Speaker 6 (42:09):
Okay, you could get off track a little bit of
but you just go you just like I don't even.

Speaker 4 (42:14):
Understand, orry. I was reading a comment from our wonderful
community like a terrible person. Though I hate adulting, having
fun and being it's the worst.

Speaker 6 (42:24):
We know what to do, doctor waterhorse, Doctor waterhorse in
the chat.

Speaker 4 (42:27):
All right, everybody, everybody do this.

Speaker 6 (42:29):
I always post these reels that come across my feed
that pertained to being this way, homesteading, home fronting, homeschooling,
home landing. Rebecca took these reels, especially the ones that
pertain to being a stay at home mom, as a
slight towards her. She thought that I believe that because
she's a working mom, I thought less of her and
all of the other working moms in the world, which

(42:50):
is so far from the truth. I know, we all
have to do what we have to do. She started
texting us one night saying that we were hurting their
parents with all of the posts that I was posting.

Speaker 1 (42:59):
A direct quote. Oh yes, I kept the texts quote.

Speaker 6 (43:02):
I'm not going to sit here and try to convince
you that what you choose is the wrong thing. I
don't care what you do. I'm sure not going to
post ten different things on social media to make you
feel crappy for choosing whatever lifestyle you decided works for you.
All I care about is that our son's name gets
everything he needs and wants in life, even if it
means you need to sacrifice your wants and needs.

Speaker 4 (43:21):
Girl, you're taking this out of the wrong context. She's
just probably spreading awareness or spreading what she likes.

Speaker 6 (43:27):
She's the kind of person who sees like a post
about elephants and then goes, oh, yeah, so you hate whales?

Speaker 4 (43:33):
Yeah, Or like if I'm like posting about like the
NBA MVP and Dakota's like, well, I'm sorry, I'm not
an NBA basketball player.

Speaker 2 (43:39):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 6 (43:40):
Sorry, I never made it pro Thanks for rubbing edd
in my face again.

Speaker 4 (43:43):
Thanks my girl. Like, you know, you can like put
your phone in the water and you don't have to
look at it anymore, right, you know you can't turn
it off. Who's your MVP right now? Jo Kitch duh, duh, duh, duh. Okay,
he's so boring.

Speaker 6 (43:54):
Yeah, he's the most dominant person we've maybe ever seen it.

Speaker 4 (43:57):
It's his job. He's the only one treating it like
a job, and he's doing Oh yeah, dude, I'm sorry.
Sorry when he fox in, it's easy locked in. I
text back, saying that anything we post or share is
not directed at anyone in particular, and that the things
shared are things that we believe in or think are humorous.
I explained that our son will have everything he needs
in life because we will make it so. I also

(44:18):
said that it sounded like me choosing to be a
stay at home mom is a bad choice in their eyes,
and that it makes me a bad mom. I gave
her the option to unfollow me if the things that
I'm posting are not to their liking, and that there
would be no hard feelings if she did so. She
then said that no one believes what I'm saying, and
then both my husband and I were unfriended by Rebecca

(44:39):
and Alice on social media, and then we were both
exiled out of the family Chat because we were being disrespectful.
It was mid December when Rebecca reached out to us
again to ask if we were going to Christmas at
Alice in her family's home. My husband and I discussed
it and didn't want to go somewhere where we were
not wanted.

Speaker 6 (44:55):
This is when the chitake hit the fan. She called
us ridiculous. You one how many what do.

Speaker 2 (45:01):
You rate that?

Speaker 4 (45:03):
Eight point five cool out of twenty?

Speaker 6 (45:05):
She called us ridiculous and said that we were ruining
Christmas for their mom and dad and their oldest child.
She even told us that our god parent ship was
taken away from us and given to Alice and her husband. Cool,
all right, nice. She said that having a homeschooled education
makes you dumb.

Speaker 4 (45:20):
Oh cool? Cool, guys, we're all dumb by the way.

Speaker 6 (45:25):
You know, it's not dumb listening to full episodes with
stories like this, and all you gotta do is go
to iHeartRadio or Apple Podcasts or Spotify wherever you listen
and search Okay story time and then you'll find you
know all the stories to your heart's desire twelve hundred
hours and counting, So go take a listen. Honestly, do
you think it's ruining Christmas to not go to the
house that no one likes? You at where they like

(45:46):
they unfollow you. Are you Are they ruining Christmas? Yes?
Or not?

Speaker 2 (45:50):
Loki?

Speaker 4 (45:50):
I mean I had to go to my family's Christmas
if they like me or not, so you'd say they're
ruining Christmas. Looky, they're ruining Christmas? Probably, Dang, it just
throwed off. Like one time my aunt had a very
heat discussed with my mom and didn't show up for Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving felt weird and like me and that A are
pretty really good, but like not having everyone there was weird.
And the past two Christmas will be weird because some
people like miss like for being sick and stuff.

Speaker 6 (46:13):
I mean, like it's gonna throw the off for people
who get sick. Yeah, yeah, I mean I'll get sick
one on the hole. We want to get everyone else
sick at Christmas?

Speaker 4 (46:21):
Dude, I haven't been six is the eighth grade?

Speaker 1 (46:22):
Dude, don't say that too loud that you're actually.

Speaker 4 (46:24):
I got the VID in twenty something, so you get sick,
but that counts other than that. Yeah, it does throw
it off. I mean, do you have the right to
stay home and not go to Christmas? Yeah, that's totally you.
But it will like it will be weird. Are they
ruining Christmas?

Speaker 1 (46:39):
Or did Alice ruin Christmas by being an uppity?

Speaker 4 (46:41):
A beep be by beep, I don't know. Yeah, who
ruined it? Who really ruined it? A beep?

Speaker 6 (46:46):
Where does the ruin begin? Anyway, let's let's finish the story.
I need ruins. She also texted that if they had
passed away tomorrow that her children wouldn't even have bedrooms
or a place just play inside. We're fixing up an
old farmhouse and the upstairs is being worked on first,
and our kiddos have plenty of room to play in
the living room area. She pointed out that we're not
ready for more children pertaining to hers if God forbid

(47:07):
something were to happen to them. She went on to
say that she's the only one with the medical background
in the family for horses, which is why people come
to her when they need to know what things mean,
and that I was gaslighting her and the family when
she brought my son into the conversation. That's when I
lost it. I screamed a scream I had never screamed before.

Speaker 4 (47:25):
I've heard that.

Speaker 6 (47:26):
One oh Christians just thrown it up his motorbike. I
was so hurt by the things that were said in
these texts. This is when my husband said that we
were cutting off ties with her. We haven't spoken to
her since those last texts in December twenty twenty three.
Are we the a holes? Comments comment one, not the
A hole. I feel like your sister in law was
maybe projecting her feelings onto you because you're a stay
at home mom. I'd love to see those texts for sure,

(47:48):
and that is the end of that story.

Speaker 4 (47:49):
And I agree. Not the Ahle.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
Riley disagrees. Riley thinks you're the a hole rooting Christmas.

Speaker 4 (47:53):
I'm not saying you're the a hole, but the vibes
at the family function will be weird.

Speaker 6 (47:57):
He's not saying it, but he's thinking it. No, I'm
just I'm sure, I'm just messing around. I'm just messing around, folks,
I'm just messing around. I'm just messing around.

Speaker 4 (48:04):
I'm just messing around. The girl's coming after me. I'm sorry.
It's all right, dude. You are right.

Speaker 6 (48:11):
When things are off, it does feel funny. But it's like,
you know, where do we put the blame? Put the
blame on the people who are like I refuse to
go to someone's house who disrespects me constantly? Or are
we putting it on the people who are like disrespecting constantly?
And I don't mean that in like I'm not trying
to be like you were wrong. I mean like it
like literally like where does it go? Like does that
suck it up and just deal with it for one
evening type thing? Or like is it where does it go?

(48:33):
You know, just making you're scaring me. Well, that's the
end of that episode. All right, we got some dono's.
He's still looking at me. Okay, here's the joke, Little
burb in America, using the metric system, you can get
in legal trouble.

Speaker 4 (48:50):
What does that mean? Where's the joke there? What is
this joke? In America using the metric system can get
you in legal trouble? Anti joke? I put it in there?

Speaker 6 (48:58):
Oh it is Yep, it's good. We found an anti joke.
What's the legal trouble it can get you in?

Speaker 4 (49:04):
I don't know. I just made it up.

Speaker 6 (49:06):
Hannah donated twenty five dollars, Eh, what to put there?
Awkward Turtle donated fifty bucks. You guys make me so happy.
Thank you, thank you very much. And we've got Purple Trader,
thank you for the two bucks.

Speaker 1 (49:17):
Troll Stream.

Speaker 4 (49:18):
Huh, yep, that's me.

Speaker 6 (49:20):
That's what it turned into. I think guys ended up
at troll Stream. That's the end of that episode, the
end of that story, end of that episode.

Speaker 4 (49:27):
I am so tired. I gosh, what do you say, Riley?

Speaker 6 (49:31):
I love you guys, so if you love us, make
sure you subscribe.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
We love you.

Speaker 3 (49:36):
And hey, it's John here, og host of the show.
We're gonna get back to these juicy stories. But here's
a quick three minutes of ads from our sponsors.

Speaker 2 (49:45):
This is an episode from Deep within the Archives.

Speaker 1 (49:47):
Time for okop Relam.

Speaker 2 (49:52):
My husband openly brags to me and the kids about
how many women throw themselves at him. Okop, this is okayop.
I'm Samuel daughter and I'm John Fry and John people
have been making fun of me recently.

Speaker 4 (50:06):
They it's not acceptable.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
Yeah, it's kind of rude. I feel bad. They said
that my camera is so zoomed in that they can
see the back of my throat. And if you could
see the back of my throat, you would understand that
I don't have any tonsiles because I got them taken
out when I was like five.

Speaker 3 (50:23):
They're honestly, I think they're just jealous of your your
good oral hygiene. Yeah and yeah, maybe they have inflamed
that oral around the best.

Speaker 4 (50:34):
Maybe it's just no one has better.

Speaker 2 (50:36):
Or let the record show the oral hygiene that is hygiene.
Let's keep it clean, guys, Let's keep you clean. That's
how we do it. And with that anyway, with that
all right, John, I got his sory, I got his
Sorry hit me with the baby, all right. My husband
openly brags to me and the kids about how many

(50:57):
women throw themselves at.

Speaker 3 (50:59):
Him, kind of something you don't want to uh to
brag about.

Speaker 2 (51:02):
Yeah, I don't know. If you're like kids, you wouldn't
believe the dime that was trying to.

Speaker 4 (51:07):
The broads, that.

Speaker 2 (51:09):
That was just throwing themselves. I could have twisted every
nipple within a mile radius of this house, but I don't.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
Maybe we just used all kids nineteen fifties terms described
like there was a bunch of broads, a bunch of themselves.

Speaker 2 (51:23):
Couldn stop them. You know. I was about I was
about to do more nineteen fifties stuff, but then I
was just like, Okay, this is getting it will get
sexist very.

Speaker 4 (51:32):
Crop that's true. I got one, though.

Speaker 3 (51:34):
God there's uh broads throwing themselves at me like Dwight
eisen Howe throwing roads on the inter estate.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
Wow that Wow.

Speaker 1 (51:41):
See knowledge and no one is offended. I'm very impressed.

Speaker 3 (51:48):
That's like the one thing I remember from APUs history,
which was like he invested very heavily in the road infrastructure,
just like this.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
This dad's investing in these. Oh she is is salami.
I'm salami service, yummy. I mean all right, my husband
and I are expats in a country where the average
household considers themselves lucky to make two thousand to three
thousand dollars a year. So we're talking where probably like

(52:20):
I don't know, like South America.

Speaker 1 (52:22):
Yeah, that's South Africa.

Speaker 2 (52:23):
Lo low for the purpose I know, and just just
for for reference, like that covers like two months rent
maybe maybe maybe if you're lucky, if you got a deal.
Sam is the king of deals. I try, I try,
I'm like the Joker of deals. For the purpose of
not giving too much identifying information out, I will be
referring to the country as country Yugoslavia. Eureka, you figured

(52:45):
it out. No, I'm just e countries. But Yugoslavia is
not an e country.

Speaker 3 (52:52):
I was about to say, you should go on country
country that begins with the country that begins Estonia.

Speaker 4 (52:57):
No Estonia is pretty wealthy.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
I feel like, yeah, I don't know if El Salvador
l Salvadors. Maybe El Salvador country e l Salvador. Two
and a half years ago, my husband, who works in finance,
was promoted to a position in which he could finally
have the compensation authorita and projects.

Speaker 4 (53:13):
That he always dreamed of.

Speaker 2 (53:15):
Nice. The downside was the position would be in the
company's headquarters in another country, and basically it required us
to move away from our families and our friends. But
I was so excited for my husband and our kids
fifteen female and ten male, were so happy about experiencing
another culture as well as supporting their dad, that we
urged my husband to take the position.

Speaker 1 (53:35):
So everyone's on board. Yeah, it sounds like good adventure,
family adventure.

Speaker 2 (53:37):
Family adventure, making more money and exotic location sounds good.
What could go wrong? Because they were telling my husband
they wanted to see him there as soon as possible
a SAP, we agreed that he would go settle in
and we would fly over around two months later, it
seems that the moment his plane took off towards country
e marked the beginning of the end of all his

(53:58):
feelings of respect and appreciation for me and the kids.
Oh God, things are going downhill. After just two months apart,
I could sense a drastic change in my husband. He
went from calling me and the kids every day to
every other day, and then reducing communication just to texts.
At first, I thought he was just busy settling in,
but the night before we went to fly out, he
video chatted us, and the kids asked him why he

(54:19):
seemed disappointed that they were coming, which is not what
you want.

Speaker 4 (54:22):
That's awful.

Speaker 2 (54:23):
He said that they were just imagining things and it
was just how his face looked on camera, which you know,
maybe maybe we'll maybe we'll see. As we settled into
our new home, he shot us pretty resentful looks and
continuously snapped at me not to touch this or that.
Like most expats, we live in a home that was
miles grander and show we were then we could ever
get back home and with a lot of stuff like

(54:45):
a company car and housekeeping services paid for by the company,
and my husband had money to burn and started having
ridiculously high expectations about how we were dressed and how
we look. He bought himself loads of designer watches with
his fellow corporate masters of the Universe friends, and spent
lavishly at restaurants and bars on the company tab. He
also invested quite a bit of our money in real

(55:06):
estate here, since the government is pushing for foreign investors
to invest, even adopting a more liberal outward rhetoric in
order to be more appealing to the West. The country
we live in has extreme wealth disparities, most of it
unfortunately not held by locals. There is a center city
where all the high end stores, hotels, and clubs and
restaurants are, and then there are some homes in the

(55:26):
country as well. And despite the fact that this country
is technically conservative, escorting is rampant and is an outgrowth
of the generally desperate economic straits of families and the
fact that it is obvious who has money and therefore
where to go and who to target. So basically a
bunch of escorts are going to the city center to
drum up some business. The Western folks. Escorts are apparently

(55:51):
and basically everywhere in the area we live where there
are restaurants or bars or entertainment. When men see dressed
up local women in pairs roaming around and establishment, they
just assumed they're escorts, and ninety percent of the time
they're right.

Speaker 4 (56:04):
Oh man, God.

Speaker 2 (56:06):
An ex fat friend once asked a woman who approached
him at a bar, which he did for a living,
and she said, what does it look like I do
for a living? I see. My husband then started criticizing
my appearance a lot, and when we'd go out, he'd
ask if I ever considered wearing my hair like women
a B or C. Or we'll go out to eat
as a family, and he will ignore what the kids
are saying and just stare at different women, which's disrespectful, man, Absolutely,

(56:29):
like keep your eyes on your food, or your wife,
or your kids or your kids. Yeah, when his friends
come over, my husband always brags in front of me
about the women that approached him, not just at bars,
but he also brags about how local women who work
in the office with him are also exceptionally engaging. He
even got pretty aggressive when we were hooking up and
wanted to choke me and pee on me. This is

(56:50):
getting dark, This is getting dark. When we tried some
more intense stuff. He pulled my hair hard enough to
draw blood, and when I said I didn't want to
do it anymore, he started screaming that a bunch of
women who look exactly like his type would be eager
to do it all and more for less than I
spend on dinner. Geez, god, jeez, I'm not having fun.
My daughter found a bunch of contacts on his phone

(57:12):
that blew up his phone with flirty messages on WhatsApp,
and instead of at least pretending to be ashamed for
a daughter's sake, he went, well, at least your dad's
still attractive.

Speaker 4 (57:21):
How is that supposed to make a kid feel better?

Speaker 2 (57:23):
Yeah, it's like you're cheating on mom, and it's like
your dad's got some pretty good looks.

Speaker 4 (57:28):
Still looking.

Speaker 2 (57:30):
No, no, that's not how you handle it. And then
it turned into a diet tribe about how he had
to give out the number to one woman because you
look close to tears when he tried to pull away,
which likely story wrote, well, most women are respectful when
a man is with his wife and or a family.
Sometimes it happens where we're at restaurants and hotels and
my husband is just like a regular there for dinner,
and then women who I assume are also regulars will

(57:52):
disregard my presence and give me scornful once overs. When
we were out as a family and my husband sees
a woman give his attired and improving once over, he
will smile flirtatiously back and seem to bask in the
glow and not pay any attention to me or the kids.

Speaker 1 (58:07):
And it's like, these are people who just want your money.

Speaker 2 (58:10):
Yeah, bro, this has nothing nothing to do with your life,
nothing at all. I was trying to milk you for
all it's worth. Move moo mooh. I've been to support
groups and have been told to let it wear off
because many other wives have experienced their husbands being drunk
on attention. Also, what kind of support group is that?

Speaker 4 (58:28):
That's terrible for your fault?

Speaker 2 (58:30):
Just the boys will be boys, husbands will be husbands.

Speaker 4 (58:33):
Who's giving this support?

Speaker 2 (58:35):
Yeah, this is a terrible support.

Speaker 4 (58:36):
Support. Join the support, yeah, and we'll.

Speaker 2 (58:38):
Give you better support than freaking whatever you're getting. But
my husband seems to be getting more and more obsessed
with the attention. My son is young, but he has
gone from happy, go lucky to glaring at his father
and whoever he is smiling at. My husband and I
have tried to communicate, but everything turns into my fault.
I do not appreciate his contributions enough, he says. I
don't appreciate his contributions when I disagree with him, saying

(59:01):
the kids don't need to learn how to do laundry
because the housekeeper will do it for them. I also
don't appreciate him when he continually asked a hook up
for the third time in a night. I do not
appreciate him when I move the furniture from how he
organized it, or when I disagree with him on anything.
I started tracking or banking information and found out that
he made numerous large withdrawals. He denied vehemently that he

(59:23):
was seeing escorts and said I seem jealous and had
something against people who escorts, like I don't use escorts,
But how dare you judge people who use escorts? I
don't use them, but you should have judged them, oh man.
I told him that to the contrary, I feel bad
for people who need to put their lives in heuse
at risk like this, and that these people don't have
any forms of government assistant. We had a big fight

(59:45):
that night, and I went to stay with a friend
for the night to cool off. When I came back home,
he glared at me and said, oh, you're back. What
if I don't want you here anymore? Excuse me, rude,
excuse me, rude. I do not know what to do.
My support group keeps telling me that he will get
off his power trip, but if I leave him, I
will likely lose any assets I have here. My kids
obviously still have school and love their classmate. I need
any advice on how to save my marriage or how

(01:00:07):
to get my husband to stop thinking that I am
not enough for him when I haven't changed from when
we were not expats, while he respected and appreciated me.
Back at home, he scorns me here. What should I do?

Speaker 6 (01:00:17):
Wow?

Speaker 4 (01:00:18):
I mean, god, what a bro?

Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
The post says it all, break up with him, leave
with the kids, get a divorce.

Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
Yeah, God, he like run far, far away. He's treating
you like garbage, like he's not doing anything at all.

Speaker 2 (01:00:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:00:32):
And it's and also it's like it's just so clear
his behavior before and after, so it's like something there
made him change.

Speaker 4 (01:00:39):
And I think we all have a pretty good idea
of what that was?

Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
Yeah, escorts, yep, but man, run for the hills, bro,
just like Op. You deserve better, absolutely, and you know
where our listeners should run to, Samuel Oh, they should
run to the OKOP support group otherwise known as the
subscribe button on YouTube, the follow button on Spotify and

I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted β€” click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
