Outweigh

Amy Brown (co-host of The Bobby Bones Show & host of 4 Things with Amy Brown podcast) and Lisa Hayim (Registered Dietitian, wellness blogger, and host of The Truthiest Life podcast) aim to break the stigma and expose the truth about disordered eating. They expose the ‘grey area’ of eating disorders - the subclinical tendencies many people partake in but fail to get help for. Having overcome their own struggles with disordered eating, Amy and Lisa share their personal experiences, as well as stories from real people who found their food freedom, and conversations with experts who share their guidance. “OUTWEIGH” is an iHeartRadio original podcast that started as a mini-series within Amy’s “4 Things” podcast.

OUTWEIGH: Advocating for yourself in a gracious way during recovery is totally okay. Amy & Dylan talk through some ways you can respond to diet talk. Also, why do people put up “what I eat in a day” posts?? Our advice: unfollow or mute those accounts…they are not helpful in recovery! They wrap by sharing how to recognize a binge and shut it down. Eating disorder thoughts still pop up in recovery…hopefully fewer and farther betw...

OUTWEIGH: Dylan Murphy is back this week (part 2) and we’re so excited! Find a safe space to talk about your eating disorder or disordered eating behaviors. Someone that is not a therapist…a friend or family member that is in the weeds with you that can be an ear…but will also call you out on things if need be. OUTWEIGH: Week 3 with Crystal Lunenschloss (MS, RDN, LDN, CEDRD) is all about addressing this listener email that Amy recently received:

Amy, I have a good friend who, pretty clearly, is battling an eating disorder. When we go out to eat somewhere, she often asks the server many questions about what’s in the food and then orders something and doesn’t eat any of it. She makes excuses saying she’s “never hungry”, but I, as her friend...

Reminders like:

  • Social media is not a dietitian.
  • Eat like you won't binge later.
  • Food is not something that has to be earned.
  • Compliments that have nothing to do with weight.
  • Some diet behaviors start off innocent.
