Speaker 1 (00:01):
Oh, put some stacker, let's go trying out some new music.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
You like it.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Cavino and rich Over promised, welcome to our bonus podcast.
Because we always over promise things. We never get to
Fox Sports Radios where you find us Monday through Friday
two to four on the West, five to seven on
the East at Covino and rich at Fox Sports Radio
LASGA out. Tonight Tonight is jow Night bro To Night

(00:32):
to Night. The NBA Finals kickoff tonight to night. I
wait to throw in some Smashing Pumpkins, Billy.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Corgan, what's up tonight? NBA Finals start?

Speaker 3 (00:44):
And I just wonder if there's anyone rooting for the
Boston Celtics outside of the New England area.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
I saw one of those maps like who's rooting for who?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
And I genuinely feel like everyone's saying if Luca is
gonna win.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Ever, now's the time, right, what's captivating the general public
is Luca and Kyrie, unless, of course, you're in Boston,
so I'm tuning in to watch the Dynamic duo. And
Dan Meyer talked about that and he's absolutely right.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
So unless you're sitting in Boston with some chowder, yeah,
you're hoping the MAVs win here. And Mark Cuban's a
good dude, so I don't know. I'm pulling for the
MAVs in six.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Got some action on it, not yet, but we'll talk
about who does in a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
We'll talk about that.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Plus, there's a new crop of must watch athletes, right,
there's a new crop of them. You could add to
the list, you could play along at home. We'll get
to that.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
But first and first, mostly this week was an anniversary.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Oh yeah, it was an anniversary of the first ever,
the first ever baseball uniform back in eighteen forty nine.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
It was a long time ago. Yeah, look at this shit.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
The New York not Yankees, not Mets, not Giant, the Knickerbockers.
Before they were a basketball franchise, the New York Knicks
were a baseball team that wore straw hats, yeah, bow
ties and suits yeah while playing baseball shite.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Yeah, where's your straw hats? Hat?

Speaker 1 (02:14):
So they were the first to roll up in uniform
as a team. Otherwise, people were just showing up with
whatever they had.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
So they would take off the coats and they had
matching blue trousers, white shirts, and straw hats before the baseball.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Cap was invented. Yeah, you rocked a freaking straw hat
while you played baseball. Wow. So yeah, Wow.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
The Knickerbockers, not the basketball team. The baseball team were
the first to ever do it in the eighteen hundreds
on this week, all those years ago, and we've seen
the evolution. Rich is a big guy, a big uniform guy.
I love the alternate uniforms. I love teams when they
mix it up in baseball. I love the city connects.

(02:55):
And there is a few uniform stories that I think
that are worthy to get into. But before we do so,
before you get into the NBA and baseball uniforms and
a new football uniform.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Interestingly enough, the evolution of the basketball uniform. I had
to look up because it was the anniversary of the
baseball one. Back in the day for basketball, people wore
like full body suits and long sleeve shirts and regular
street clothes. And then eventually, if you fast forward to
the nineteen twenties, they said, for restrictive purposes rebound shooting

(03:26):
the ball, they decided tank tops were it. And they
haven't looked back one hundred.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Years ago, and it continues to evolve, which is interesting.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Right, basketball shorts shorts.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
There's always new variations, like you said, alternate jerseys, and
there's news about it today in fact, so it's fun
to look back. But it's fun to look back to
see that they went from the knickerbockers to whatever they
went into the Highlanders and Yankees or whatever. But you know,
the red stockings and the white stockings and all the
goofy names they had back then.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
It's just wild to see.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
No, you ever think of the evolution of uniforms in
every sport. I know you don't think of this shit
like I do, but think about it. Like basketball.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
At one point people were just playing street basketball wearing whatever.
Then it was like long sleeve, short sleeves, and then
finally someone said no, no shorts and a tank top,
and everyone's like, all right forever.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Now that's it.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
You know, Old Zibadiah went up for a three point
shot and his thumb got caught in a suspender, and
I think, oh, that's it, and that Huckleberry said, you
know what, no more of the suspenders. I mean, so look,
there's probably reasons to all of this and more. And
what always interested me too as a sports fan is
why the basketball managers wore suits and why baseball managers

(04:40):
wore the uniform right, but they were player managers too, and.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Well the of the last I remember was Pete Rose.
What's interesting is you said manager and basketball it's a coach.
That's another weird thing, right is it a coacher manager?
Depends on the sport. But you're right, they wear uniforms,
the suit and then the NBA went business casual or like, yeah,
you could wear a jumpsuit. I think if a guy
like Reddick gets a coaching job, I wonder if some
guys will bring back the suit.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
It was cool to see pat Riley throw the suit
on in winning time. Yeah, that shit was good. That
was cool to see.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
How you know, he just wanted some respect through suit
on and became the leader there.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
I recently saw, you know, I always get these on
this day little updates on my phone. It was recently
the anniversary also of the first plastic helmet in the
world of Major League Baseball.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
To think about it, Oh, you're the one they served
the ice cream in. Yeah, sixth thinning. I usually get
a little soft served. I'm going to celebrate that football.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
It was the that old school pigskin leather helmet and
then they went you know, every year they try to
evolve to a safer helmet, but the evolution of uniforms,
to me.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
I could talk for hours about it.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
I won't, but what I will tell you is they
released the schedule for the NBA Finals, and the Celtics,
being the traditional team they are for the most part,
are going to rock their whites with the green and
greens with the white. One game, They're going to rock
those black jerseys. Those Celtics, they call it the statement.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Jersey, but that traditional like the Tatum white. Yeah, those
are classics. I like it.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Again, the uniforms for the NBA Finals were unveiled, the
schedules out, and you know, it does make you think
about showing up as a fan with the colors on,
with the jerseys on, feeling like you're part of the team.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Well, there certain teams that I will always associate with
like an odd uniform, like when the Cavs won with
Lebron and they beat the best team ever Golden State Warriors,
the seventy three and nine Warriors.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
I always picture the.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Sleeved Cavaliers with just the sea Well, yeah, these are
the highlights that live.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
That's why it's important.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
I don't care as much as he does, but that
is why it's important because you'll see these highlights.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Let's see the Mavericks win, for the Celtics win.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
These are the ones that are celebrated for years to
come until they win again.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
It's funny should.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Say it, because if the Mavericks win in six or seven,
you know what, You're going to see them in their
city editions, which is what fans are saying. Interesting, they're
not going traditional the Maverick City edition, which Spot is
in that article. It's the one that just like in
a fun little fonts as MAVs. That's the one that
they're gonna go with on games.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
And those are the ones that you remember.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
They live in your brain for the rest of your
life when you're looking back at all the highlights on
social media because you don't get your SI, DVD or
vhs anymore looking back, but those highlights will live in
these uniforms.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Scroll down Spot, look at the uh. The MAVs are
going to be rocking that one right there, the black
one which is MAVs. That's that's the one that the
MAVs are rocking in games one, six, and seven.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
So if they do win, it's like a Pat McAfee
tank tom So.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
But you know what, say, that's the I'm glad we
started with the history of it because again we celebrated
the first ever uniform this week, because it does remind
you of what it feels like to be part of
a team. Everyone's got, you know, a purpose. They're on
a team together, winning together. That's why Giter always said
no names on the Yankee uniforms, because the only one

(08:05):
that matters is the one on the front.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
And think about it, like, take it back to your
can I roll my eyes at that. You your eyes.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
That's what it means to be a team and not
an individual. I think it makes it make sense the.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Wy do dumb guidos that rock Aaron Judge, Judge, that's
not right.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
I've never been a fan of it. Uh, that just
shows they're a fan of that guy. But whatever, when
you were a kid, throw it back on a Thursday
or whenever you're watching this, we appreciate it. When you
would show up to high school and you were part
of the baseball team or football team, you wore your
jersey to school that day. You felt like you were
part of something. You felt there was no cooler feeling

(08:44):
in the world. And when you put on your high
school or college jersey and you wore it to campus,
you wore it to high school through the hallways.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
You felt like a bad head. Listen.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
That is the fans feel when they get geared up
and ready to watch the NBA Finals and they throw
their jerseys on. You're part of the team, You're part
of something, so these things do matter.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
You're a guy that thought you were cool your whole life.
Yeah in high school. He doesn't correct me. He's like, yeah,
I've been cool for a yeah, and as a guy
like me, who I was a bit of a nerd
back in the day, but I when I played sports,
you know, suck my ass spot. When I was a kid,

(09:24):
those high school days where I got to wear my
jersey in the hallway might have been the only days
I did feel.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Can you feel like you floated down the hallway? It
was like the only days where I'm like a girl
might like me, I was gliding. I'd be rocking my hran,
carry jersey in the hallway. We were black and orange
and not man. Those are the days, man, that's why
these things are cool.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Well, you know, if we're talking about uniforms, only throw
one more thing at you here on over promised. I
know you give very little of the shit compared to me.
But I love the City Connects in baseball. I love
the alternate Color Rush jerseys in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
I like him as a love consumer, meaning like when
the Mets and veiled their City Connects, I was like,
that's a dope hat. But if I was, if I
was a Mets fan, I'd want to buy that. So
I like different options well as a fan like yo,
I want to buy that, And that's cool.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Listen, I do I do.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Like in the NBA they called them the Statement or
the City Edition, Baseball City connect NFL Color Rush. The
NFL unveiled a new one today.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
I'm a fan.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Because of because of the name the Vikings, and you're thinking,
you know skull and you know everyone on a big ship,
and if you think of an actual Viking there, what
do they.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Call the sun? The Winter Warriors, Winter Warriors.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
I'm right here, the Winter Warriors, the all white Winter Warriors.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
This looks like some game of throne ship. I love it.
It's more than all white. It's all right. These are
clean and crispy. This intro J J. McCarthy as a
boner watching this. Do they do right?

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Justin Jefferson's like kill Yeah, I'm gonna look fresh.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Honestly, let me rephrase. These are crispity, crunchity. These are
some crispy ass, clean, fresh new uniforms, and Vikings fans
have to be excited about it.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
I'm not a Vikings fan. I think they're dope.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
I heard only one negative comment really said fat linemen
do not look good in all white like that.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Honestly, it makes you look fat.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
But in football you want to be big beach ball.
You're not trying to slim and trim. That's clean. I
like it a lot. Props to the Vikings new all
white Winter Warriors.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Cool.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Hey, little uniform history school and you hear on over
promised now. Something Cavino brought up the other day on
our Fox Sports radio show. We never got a chance
to get to. So this is what we do here
in all the romised.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Our Fox Sports Radio shows Action Pack, we have two
hours Monday through Friday. So that's why we need this show.
You know, you realize that there's a big turnover in sports.
You know, new names all the time, but here's a
new crop of must watches. Look, I'll give props to
the guys that are bringing it that we've been talking
about for a while.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Now show hey, o Tani bringing it. He said, turnover,
don't have too many of your alignment on the vikings
exactly in those new all whites. You know Soto as
a Yankees fan.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
I'm just amazed by how great he is watching him
day to day.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
But he's been around for a minute.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Now, I'm talking about the new crop of must watch
athletes and you could add to the list. Get involved,
stay interactive, agree or disagree at Covino on Rich at
Fox Sports Radio, you know.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
And I'll kick it off with, well, you know what
the number one.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
I can't argue Cavi, you know. And I put together
five people, and I think, good luck adding another. And
we challenge it at Covin on Rich. Who are we forgetting?
This is must watch in the world of sports right now?

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Okay, in no particular order. How about that he just
pitched yesterday. Yeah, he just pitched yesterday, let up three runs,
but still got the w three to zero.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Ain't three?

Speaker 1 (13:00):
And oh now all Skiens, mustached man throwing one hundred
miles per hour and then and.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
On top of that that his girlfriend's Livy done. Like
everything about him.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Is uh, you're everything.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
About this guy is intriguing.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Interesting, throws one hundred, given some life to a great
baseball town Pittsburgh who hasn't had a winner in a
second plus. Like I said, the Livy dun angle only
makes it more intriguing because his hot girlfriend's on standby, you.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
Know, so, I mean when you're throwing a hundred plus
and you're striking out, show Hey Otani and it was
a heavyweight battle. If you saw it, man, he struck
out show hate and show Hey hit a home run
off of him, and.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
It's like that was wow, this is cool. That was uh,
must watch baseball. Yeah, there's very few times you could
say this must watch baseball in June. But when Otani
strikes out on three hundred mile an hour pitches in
a row from Skiens and then in the next that
bat HiT's a bomb, that's that. Shit's really good for baseball.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
You're seeing his Skiens, young rookie translate in the MLB.
He's legit, And so far it's been must watch. We
don't care about the pirates, but I care about what
did he do?

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Wow? What's he doing? That's awesome? Got me tuning in
a battle.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
There's probably no bigger name in the world of the
sports right now than the next one on our list here.
Like I said, in no particular order, but must watch
Caitlin Clark. Yeah, she's the definition of it. People are
tuning in to the WNBA breaking ratings because of her.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Well, don't tell Angel Reese that. Do you want to
add her to the list? No?

Speaker 3 (14:31):
I do enjoy some Angel Reese highlights, but I think
Angel Reese this week said it all started because of this.
It may have, but I do think that it really
is all Caitlin Clark Triven. Angel Reese is great. There's
a lot of great young women in the NBA, but
it's Kitlin Clark. She's the most watch you know me,
I'm not like all about this this whole trend, but

(14:54):
people are watching just because of her.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
You can't never really.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Care much about the WNBA, and and she's doing exactly
what the WNBA wants people to do to watch now
because of her.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
I heard her in I'm watching and you know why?
Why else.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
I'm watching rich not only to see her do well,
but because everyone's hating on her so much.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
You want to see that. I just want to see
her put it in everybody's face. Go babe your boy
CB Charles Barkley, I don't know if I agree with
him or not.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
He's saying that the WNBA has a couple months now
June July where nothing's going on before football, after basketball
and hockey. There's gonna be a summer month or so
where if you're not a baseball person, the WNBA has
an opportunity to really take it to the next level.
And he's saying, make it about basketball, you're not about

(15:41):
the drama. I feel like the drama needs to be
part of the equation.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
I mean, how about both. I like the drama. I
like good basketball, but I like the drama too, So
it's working. Hey, whatever gets people watching. So Kaitlin Clark
has to be on list again. This is the new
crop of must watches.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Let me let me add someone that unfortunately they had
a check in on this guy at a hotel out
here in Los Angeles today because he's so all over
the place that you worry about him sometimes. But my
goodness in the ring on social media, undeniable that Ryan
Garcia is must watch.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
I mean he's going through some stuff. Like Rich said,
his mom has cancer now, so he's sort of bumming
about that. People are concerned about him. He seemed unhinged
in the last fight, but definitely a must watch guy,
no question. You've never seen his interview with that King
Ryan with that social media girl Bobby.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Yeah, yeah, he's wild.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
That is funny because you don't know what to expect,
you know, are we going to see something great? We're
gonna see something crazy. Ryan Garcia not only in the ring,
outside of the rings, a must watch. In fact, watch
out for that guy. He's a must watch guy. Yeah,
they had to check in on him today. Hopefully he's
all good now. Influencer or boxer, I don't know how
you even categorize this guy. But tomorrow's a day boxer. Tomorrow,

(16:55):
June seventh, we find out if and when the rescheduled
fight happens against Mike Tyson. I'm hoping there's a date.
There's some people saying like there's no new date. So again,
of course, Mike Tyson is a must to watch guy.
He's the most intriguing guy in the planet. But this
is like the new crop of must to watch. Here's
the guy that made it happen.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
Though. Jake Paul's the guy.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
He's he's definitely the guy again. He's been around for
a minute, but definitely he's still the guy. Part of
the new crew of people. He's new in boxing. You
gotta watch what he does. It pains me to say
the problem childs must watch, but he is. He made
the Tyson thing happen. You know, I talked to you know,
a bunch of guys that play softball with it. You
know some of you guys are thirty, forty fifty.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
Yeah, even some guy sixties, right, and generationally everyone wants
to see the same thing.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Yo, how Billy do you want to see Mike Tyson
whoop his ass?

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Because Jake Paul's created this villainous problem child persona, which
means he's doing a good job. If someone is so
hateable in a villain that means they're great. So Jake Paul,
props to you. Great for the sport. Even Tyson, I'll
tell you he's great for the sport. Like I said,
gets people watching, and you know who gets me watching UFC.

(18:04):
I mean again, you could add to the list. We're
just giving you the ones that we thought came to
mind first. Sugar Sean O'Malley.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
I mean flashy, the tattoos, the look, the hair, the
smack talk. I mean, he's so out there and on
his come up still because again, not everybody knows him,
but as a fight fan, I'm like, this guy's legit.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
He's the real deal.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
He's like, he's continuing where Connor McGregor left off a
little bit.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
I think there's a lot of people at the Tom
Brady Roast that were, like, you know, who's that weird looking.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Guy sitting with Dana White? Exactly.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
I think that everybody knows Yeah, but he's on the
If you watch UFC, which which we do, you know him.
But there's a lot of people discovering him sort of
now exactly.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
Yeah, the non fight fans UFC guys, but Sugar showing
him Malley's must watch just because you might see greatness, right,
you might see something crazy happen or someone beat him,
which is even crazier. And because all these guys are
must watch, you do hear beef between Garcia and Jake Paul,
You do hear beef between Garcia and O'Malley, right, so

(19:08):
you might see some crossover fights as a result. But
those are the guys we put on the absolute new
crop of must watch people.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
He's eighteen and one. Who's this one loss against? Even
though if the top.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Of your head are now Sugarshewan Malley now, but you
know he's bringing it now. But look and l doesn't
matter as much in UFC as it does in boxing.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
The people lose as life.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Oh dude, it was it was like five years. Yeah,
So there it is, man, that's our list. You add
to it at Covino and Rich hashtag Covino Rules, no
hashtag must watch now crop and must watch.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
Whatever during the football season. Over Promised is always sponsored
by our friends at DraftKings. Coach see our show. You
get your hook up at DraftKings. You know who is
putting a little wager on not only the NBA Finals,
but the NHL Stanley Cup Finals. Your dad, Oh no,
not my dad. The oiler, oh the oil you know,

(20:04):
the Celtic tato now, the guy who some say is
bad luck the curse. Other people say, no, that's that's
old news. Some people are saying he lost to Kendrick
Lemar He can't lose any more. Drake has made two
significant bets equaling a million dollars.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
He bet five hundred grand a smiling now.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
He bet five hundred grand on the MAVs and five
hundred h five hundred thousand on the Edmonton Oilers.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
So here's the question. If he's cursed, right, but you
believe in what he's betting on, do you roll with him?

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Do you roll with Drake here?

Speaker 3 (20:40):
Well, if you look at the numbers, his mill, if
the MAVs and the Oilers both win his million, he
wins two point four million. So your money work for
you if you're that confidence. Rich always says, if you're
that confident, And I gotta say, I'm pretty confident that
Maverick Scott this, you're forgetting super confident where I'm putting

(21:01):
my money on it. You're forgetting that the MAVs sort
of cake walk through the NBA Eastern Conference look fantastic.
So I mean the MAVs were tested, The MAVs were
played great games. The Celtics. Like it's almost like when
a team moon walks into the World Series or Super Bowl,
You're like, well, they tested that's the question with the
Celtics tested.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
I don't know. So are you going MAVs? Oilers? Are
you put Are you put your money with Drake? I
think it might.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
You might not want to put a million dollars, but
