About the show: Joyce Sapp, 76; Bryan Herrera, 16; and Laurance Webb, 32—three Miami residents whose lives were stolen in brutal, unsolved homicides. Cold Case Files: Miami follows award‑winning radio host and City of Miami Police reserve officer Enrique Santos as he partners with the department’s Cold Case Homicide Unit, determined family members, and the advocates who spend their lives fighting for justice for the victims who can no longer fight for themselves.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
In twenty twelve, sixteen year old Brian Herrera was murdered
in cold blood, shot while walking to a friend's house
to do homework. It happened in broad daylight on a
Saturday morning in Miami, Florida, but no one saw a thing,
or no one would say.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
The call was horrible. I replayed over in my head
all the time.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
It was a high school student that was just going
to do his homework at a friend's house. Despite investigator's efforts,
there were no suspects, no arrests, and in a community
where snitches get stitches, was more than just a saying
the case went cold.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
All throughout these years, following back up with the detectives
and they're still working on this and we're working on that.
But there's never been a person of interest. There had
never been anything.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
But Brian's family refused to let his name fade.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
I would ask my husband, do you let me just
let this go? He was like, no, keep fighting.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
And then nearly a decade later, a call, a lead
and a case that was no longer cold.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
We received a phone call that was bittersweet because it's
a call that we've been waiting for for a very
long time.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
I'm endriques Antos, and this is Cold Case Files Miami,
where we tell the stories of victims like Brian Herrera
and the families who never stopped fighting for justice.

I sit over six hundred emails I did. I had
to you gotta trust the police, but you gotta help
make sure they'd be held accountable too. And I have
to say it, and I will say it.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
The police officers who follow every lead.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
Once I went back to really take a look at
it, and this is it's all the say man's reading or
I realized, Man, I feel like we got a case here.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
And those in the community who work to solve these cases.

Speaker 6 (01:47):
They will do whatever it takes on behalf of these
victims to go to court and fight for them, fight
for the voiceless and for the powerless.
