I didn't know it that I would or not. I

about the day he found out about the independence of

India back in ninety seven. But what he couldn't predict
was that chaos that would come after it. This is Partition,
an historical podcast that will discuss the nineteen seven partition
of India and the formation of Pakistan, as told by Menzies.
I was one of Karachi Pakistan in nine and always
knew that Pakistan needs to be a part of India. However,

it wasn't until my first trip back to my home
country in two thousand seventeen that I found out the
devastating truth I didn't exhibit at the mall. Learning about
partition inspired me to dig into the subject more, especially
because I have no recollection of learning about it in school,
and either my parents or other relatives ever spoke about
it to me. It all started when India gained independence

from Britain. However, before departing the British announced that India
would be split into two different countries. This was supposed
to be a joyous event, but what followed was anything but.
Can you imagine celebrating one moment and then having to
pack up all your belongings to leave your home the next.
Even though independence was announced, everyone was up to their
own devices to figure out the future of their homes

and their families. No one could have predicted what the
