Cannot tell you how many times something new has come
to me, a new opportunity, a new way.
Speaker 5 (01:20):
Of thinking, et cetera.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
And I just get I get pumped, all the juices
get going, all my skill, talents and abilities are activated
towards that new thing, whatever or whoever that may be
a new opportunity, and it awakens something inside of me,
and now I need to know how to navigate it.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
It's expulsive.
Speaker 6 (01:50):
I know.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
People who.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Discovered how to deal with anger are going to the
gym and they readirect did all of that energy and
and and passion. They learn how to let it out
pumping iron or maybe running on a on a on
a treadmill, whatever it may be. It's a redirection of
(02:14):
negative forces towards positive action.
Speaker 5 (02:18):
I've ever been there. You do it? Yeah, it's real.
It's real. THEE and and and and and.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Visionary people, all right, something new is always stirring inside
of them, stuff that we will never get to act on.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
But it just it just keeps coming up.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
If you talk to a visionary person, they're always thinking
what can be done with what they have, and what
could be achieved and a and an accomplishment obtained that
they don't have. And it's not that that's unique to
any one individual. No, we're all designed to experience that
it's powerful, something new, God awakens, something new, just a
(03:07):
new way of.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
Looking at something.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
So this morning, all right, oh man, that happens every week.
All right, this happened last week, didn't it. I think
we were at increase your value?
Speaker 1 (03:26):
All right?
Speaker 3 (03:27):
So Romans, very familiar passage of scripture, Romans, Chapter twelve,
verse one. And let's look at it from the message
Bible is really off the chart. But let's look at
it through the amplified. All right, my team, can we
(03:47):
get it up on the amplified.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
This is passionate those of the apostle, Paul says.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
He says, I appeal to you, therefore, brethren, and that
is a generic term male and female, and beg of
you in view of all the mercies of God, God's
grace and favor towards us, to make a decisive dedication
(04:16):
of your bodies, presenting all your members and.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
Faculties. Did you get that?
Speaker 3 (04:27):
So this is not just talking about your physical body,
but the whole integrated system of mind, will, emotion, spirit, soul, body,
the whole integrated system holistically you. In other words, the
apostle Paul is appealing to, the appealing to the totality
of our being as a living sacrifice, wholly devoted, consecrated,
(04:52):
and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable, rational, intelligent.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
Service and spiritual worship. That's his appeal.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Turn yourself over to God fully it completely the entire
system of who you are, your entire person, mind, will,
and emotion.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
Surrender that to God.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
As an act of sacrifice, as an act of worship,
as an act of declaring God's sovereignty over your life.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
You see it.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
But here's the connect verse two. Do not be conformed
to this world. Now, for the scripture to tell us
to warn us, don't be conformed to this world, it
means that this world is looking for conformity. Come on,
the world has its images, come on out there right,
(05:56):
and it wants to conform you to it. And this
is a concern that I have amongst my colleagues who
are in the pulpit preaching the congregations. They're being conformed, shaped,
fashion and informed, and their gift, talents and abilities informed
by the culture instead of them being instead of the
(06:17):
Word of God informing those abilities those talents, and then
influencing the culture towards change.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
Let me just say something to.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
You, if you wim people to Jesus through the appetites
of their flesh, that's the only way you're going to
be able to keep them. Be not conformed to this world,
but be what, transform how fither what renewing of your mind.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
Let's look at the rest of it.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
I love, do not be conformed to this world, this
age fashion after and adapted to its external superficial custom.
It's counterfeit love, counterfeit values. But be transfer changed by
the entire renewal of your what. All right, So notice,
don't be conformed to the squirrel. Be transformed how rather
(07:10):
renewing of your what, Rather renewing of your what. Absolutely
by the renewing of your what, your mind.
Speaker 5 (07:18):
That's why the Word of.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
God is powerful, dissecting spirit, soul, body, right down to
the joints and marrow, critiquing a word, s thoughts, motives, actions, attitudes,
and choices. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Let's go to the rest of the text very quickly,
in the time that I don't have left, by its
(07:41):
new ideals and its new attitude, so that you may
what prove yourselves what is for yourself? What is the
good acceptable? And perfect will of God, even the thing
which is good and acceptable and perfect in His soul.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Please understand. See, we live at the.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
We live at the intersection of faith and culture.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
We're trying.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
We're believers, and we're trying to live this out in
a world that many don't believe in God, a world
whose values are not consistent with the values of God
or the Kingdom of God.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
But that's where we live.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Play, go to work, raise our children, plant gardens.
Speaker 5 (08:27):
Jeremiah twenty nine. I may to say what I'm talking about,
that's where we live.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
So how do we What is the purpose of the
transformation or the renewing of our mind? Is not just
to be a great Christian. It's so that we can
navigate this world in which we live and identify what
is good, what is perfect, what is acceptable? Because everything
is not acceptable, everything is not good, everything is not
(08:56):
complete in its relationship to the values of the Kingdom.
How can I navigate it if I don't get my
head right, If my mind is not being influenced by scripture,
instead it's being influenced by the world and its customs
and values.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
There is an.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Objective, There is a purpose of the renewing of my
mind so that I can look at the culture and
we out the stuff.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
So you can look at society.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
And say that's not acceptable, that's not good. They're calling
that perfect. That's not perfect. So the objective of the
renewal of the mind is wisdom and discernment to navigate
(09:54):
the world in which we live.
Speaker 5 (09:57):
Not just a cliche.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
You know, read the Bible stuf the Bible God be
transformed into the image of Jesus.
Speaker 5 (10:02):
No, we're getting down to the nitty gritty of.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
This because it's telling me how to think, how to
face things, how to discern things, how to determine, how
to distinguish what's God and what's not God, what's the
spirit of the world and what's the spirit of Christ.
That's why I study the scripture, and that's why the
devil doesn't want.
Speaker 5 (10:22):
You in the word.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
He'd rather you ride on an emotional high and not
take the time to study and learn and show yourself approve.
And what we've done in the last thirty years, we
become so seekret friendly that what was the fruit of it?
(10:47):
What's a product of it? The church has become a
nursery for babes who live on milk who can't handle
solid food because their senses have not been exercised to
determine good from evil. What God accepts, what God doesn't accept,
(11:15):
what is good, what.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Is not good. We have to be discerning.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Because of the most damnable evil is that which comes
disguise as an opportunity for good. And we live in
a world where we're calling good evil and evil good.
And those who follow truth and righteous, as the prophets said,
become a prey for those who are unrighteous.
Speaker 5 (11:46):
It's real, folks, their traps being.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
Set every day to take you down so that another
one can bite. Careful with my colloquialism. I don't want
to slip into any loot here. And God bless you,
doctor Noriel. He text me right away, He said, oops,
(12:16):
quick to repent, quick to forgive teachable.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
Amen. So listen.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
The renewing of your mind is so that you can
move in wisdom and discernment, so that.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
You can look at the culture, look.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
At society, look at deals, look at opportunity, look.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
At things that come your way. Doors that swing open.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
And you look at that door on that's not a
good door, relationship that come that engage you towards accomplishing something.
You look at it and think, ah ah, that is
not a good relationship. And let me tell you something.
Their borders and boundaries that you have to be careful
that you don't cross. You See, here's the thing. I
(12:59):
cannot just up with this. Here's the thing. Jesus hung
out with tax collectors and sinners.
Speaker 5 (13:13):
He was called a wine mimber. He did the juice,
that's what they called him.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
That's why when he was with the disciples of a
private moment.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
Who he said, who do men say that I am?
Because there was a lot of stuff out.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
There about him, But what was important to him is
who do you say that I am? That they had
a clear revelation, because if they didn't have a clear revelation,
they'll join some of the images that being perpetrated on
him by the culture, by the world, and the spirit
of this world. He wants us to be ready. And
(13:52):
that's the importance of the Word of God and teaching
ministry in.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
Your life, so you can be sharp.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Can I'll tell you how many times I walked away
from something because it just didn't settle right in my spirit.
Just this wasn't happening there there was a check. I mean,
you know what I'm talking about, that check, that divine check.
Jesus hung out with sinners and and tax collectors.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
And but why why did he do this? Because he
believed that.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
The unclean doesn't make you unclean. If you're truly clean,
then the clean will make the unclean clean. But if
you're not truly clean, Come on, what did Jesus say?
(14:53):
He said, the wicked one comes. But he has nothing
in me, nothing here for him to work with.
Speaker 5 (14:59):
But if you've got.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Something for him to work with, he's gonna target that
weakness in your life. He's gonna target that unholy ambition
in your life, and he's gonna present you an opportunity
that looks good. How did he navigate? How did Jesus navigate?
(15:21):
He had a set of values that created boundaries spiritual, moral, ethical,
and legal boundaries that he would not cross. I've been
in situations like that where the context that I was
in cross moral boundaries.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
I left.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
I'm not giving you any details today. You gotta know,
because you could take a start out as an opportunity
for good, but once you assess the land and the
players and you realize that this is going to cause
you're just gonna bring you to the edge of some
brown trees.
Speaker 5 (16:10):
You got to make a decision.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
And sometimes those decisions are hard, but they'll save you.
I gotta stop here. Did you get anything out of
this today? And just because I have boundary, Boundaries identify you,
(16:35):
Boundaries define you, boundary protect you. I know you want
to put your notebooks away. I'll stop talking. Come on,
let's all stand.
Speaker 5 (16:49):
Hallelujah.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
The better you're discerning and wisdom, the more God can
trust you and bringing light to the darkness. But if
your light is flickering, why would he put you in
a place of severe darkness. He needs to know you
(17:14):
can move in and move out and not lose who
you are. You don't make a difference by becoming.
Speaker 5 (17:28):
The world.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
You make a difference by shining your light in the
darkness of this world. Boundaries turn your neighbors say neighbor boundaries?
Did another neighbor say neighbor boundaries? When I'm talking, people say,
(17:53):
I know, pastor you're measured in what you say. You
got that right? Why am I measured? Why am I
taking my time to think of about it? Because I
know I'm working within certain boundaries of thought and language,
because what I think and what I say is going.
Speaker 5 (18:08):
To be judged. Hallelujah.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
I'm gonna shut it down because I can keep preaching
in along this line that's about our heads. As we
go to the Lord in prayer, Oh Father, reawaken creativity, fervor, pashion,
innovation towards purpose, but also reawaken importance of boundaries. Let
(18:49):
us be clear on our values, because we know the
devil will tempt us where our treasure is.
Speaker 5 (18:59):
We value the things we.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Value, the things that are most meaningful to us is
where he's going to attack us. All things are yours,
where stewards of everything possesses of nothing.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Thank you for our time together today.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
Thank you for your word, thank you for your spirit,
thank you for your guidance, thank you for your love.
And may we continue to grow in the renewing of
our minds so we can worship you with better choices,
our better lifestyle, better understanding as we navigate this world
(19:46):
that you left us in to bring your love, life
and light. We thank you. Bless you in Jesus' name.
Amen and Amen, come on slap high five with people.
Tell him I got that method. If you don't know
(20:14):
Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
You are missing out.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
We're gonna pray. Come on, let's pray. Father, thank you
for today, and thank you for every individual in here
who may not know you. We pray that today they
will surrender their heart and mind the totality of their
being to receive, to acknowledge, to declare Jesus as their
Lord and Savior, believing that he did arise from the dead,
(20:43):
and because He lives, they can receive new life today. Father,
bless them. Bring them into your family, then lead them
and guide them. Let them get into a church where
they can grow and learn and become established in the faith.
We pray for them right now, whether they're in this
building or watching from online. We pray in Jesus' name.
(21:08):
