Speaker 1 (00:49):
I'm really excited to talk about what we're gonna be
talking about today because I love challenging religious systems. I
love dealing with ida logies that are not necessarily scriptural,
and I love shooting big white elephants that are in
the room. And today I want to talk to you
(01:11):
guys from the subject of the Great Commission, but I
want to talk about it from another perspective. I want
to say this as my opening statement. I'm pretty sure
many of you have seen the title of what we're
talking about today, but I want to talk about the
Great Commission from an Apostolic perspective, you know, as it
(01:34):
relates to the Apostolic or as it relates to I'm sorry,
the Great Commission and the overall Church of Jesus Christ.
For the last two hundred to three hundred years, or
just as long as I can remember, the Church has
been ran primarily by pastors, teachers, and evangelists. And what
(01:56):
I believe God is doing in this season, or one
of the many things that God is doing in the
church in this season, is bringing the church full circle.
We are coming into a season where we are going
to see the importance of the Apostle and the Prophet return.
It was a Satanic strategy to exclude the gift.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Of the Apostle and the Prophet from the.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Church because to stop the church's progression, if you will.
The pastor's position or the gift of the pastor in
the church is a position of management. It's a position
of yes, discipleship, but it's a position primarily of managing
the flock, stewarding the flock.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
But it's not a gift or.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
An office of progression, and Satan has done very well
to get majority of the American Church to exclude the
apostle's office and the prophet's office, so that the church
cannot prog rest. Because the apostles grace is a grace
of progression, it's a progress, it's it's a grace of
(03:06):
moving forward.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
It's a grace of discipleship.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yes, but it also brings us into the next of
God as well as the prophet. And so what Satan
has done by getting majority of the Body of Christ
to not believe in the modern day expression of the
apostles gift is to stagnate us and to prevent us
from moving forward.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
But what we have to do to see the.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Church become apostolic once again, because being apostolic is a
part of our inheritants. The Bible tells us in Hebrews,
consider Jesus speaking of him, the apostle of our confession
and the Bishop of our souls. So Jesus is an apostle.
What makes use to an apostle? He said, as the
(03:54):
Father has sent me, so am I sending you. That
word sent is the Greek word the Greek word for
sin is apostello, which includes all things apostolic. It's actually
the base Greek word in which we get apostolos, which
is the English word apostle. So yeah, so Jesus has
(04:16):
been apostelloed, if you will, from the Father. And so
Jesus is apostolic, and Jesus is an apostle of the Father.
And so when we look at the Great Commission from
an evangelistic point of view, we look at it without
all of its bells and whistles. We look at it
(04:37):
from a distorted lens. Because when Jesus gave us the
Great Commission, which is found I believe in Matthew chapter
twenty eight, verses sixteen to twenty. When Jesus gave us
the Great Commission at Matthew twenty eight, he didn't give
it to evangelist. He gave it to apostles first. So
(04:57):
when we look at it from an apostolic lenb it
changes the way we expressed the Great Commission. See, when
we look at the Great Commission from an evangelistic point
of view, we're only going to look at it to
see souls getting saved. This is the heartbeat of the evangelists.
(05:17):
This is the desire of an evangelist. This is their
bread and their water. It is to see people brought
into the Kingdom of God. But being brought into the
Kingdom of God is only the first part of the
Great Commission. Let's read Matthew chapter twenty eight, verses sixteen
to twenty so we can get a greater understanding. It
says now the eleven disciples, who eventually were the apostles,
(05:42):
went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had
directed them, And when they saw him, they worshiped him.
But some doubted, and Jesus came and said to them,
all authority in heaven and on earth has been given
to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all mens,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son,
(06:03):
and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all
that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with
you always.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Even to the end of the age.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
So firstly we learn here that Jesus gives the Great
commission to apostles, and he comes with all of these instructions. Firstly,
he tells them to go firstly to a mountain in
which he directed them, so they meet him on this mountain,
and the Bible says they begin to worship. Now, this
is a key element to the Great Commission, because every
(06:35):
time God released an apostle or gave them a commission,
they were found in the place of worship.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
The apostles were worshiping Jesus.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
When the Great Commission was given, Paul and Barnabas, two
apostles in the New Testament, were found at Antioch ministering
to the Lord according to the scriptures, with fasting and
prayer with other prophets and teachers. And the Bible says
that God says, the Holy Spirit says, separate unto me,
Paul and Barnabas for the work of the ministry.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
So this was during a.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Time of intense fellowship and worship and devotion for the Lord,
and it was in that moment that commissions were given out.
Sometimes our lack of revelation and understanding of our role
in the Great Commission is out of a place of
a lack of fellowship, and so a lot of times
(07:25):
we cannot be sent because we've never come into a
high enough realm in worship, devotion or fellowship with God
to hear how we are to express the Great Commission.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Understand something, beloved.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
The Great Commission has many different expressions, And if we
look at the Great Commission only from an evangelistic point
of view, we're going to have a distorted, or if
you will, a limited view of how the Great Commission
is to be expressed. Because once again, the Great Commission
is about more than just winning. So for the Kingdom,
(08:02):
it's about more the responsibility, the heartbeat. The job of
the evangelist and evangelistic people is convincing power. And what
does Jesus do. He stalks the evangelists and evangelistic people,
true evangelistic people, with signs and wonders and miracles. Yes,
he stalks them with convincing power, a charismamatic grace to
(08:27):
one be bold to preach the gospel, but then to
convince them to get baptized. And if they're unconvinced that
Jesus Lord healing the sick, casting out devils, doing all
of these things. The evangelist office almost if you will,
is a mini version of the apostle. They're given some
(08:50):
of the graces and the abilities of the apostles without
the authority. Now, what separates the evangelist from the apostle.
The evangelist only he wants to get you into the
kingdom and equit the church to get others into the Kingdom.
But the apostle, remember, Jesus is giving the great commission
to the apostles, and he says in verse seventeen. And
(09:11):
when they saw them, they worshiped him. But some down it,
and Jesus came in, said to them, all authority in
heaven and on earth has been.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Given to me.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit. So Jesus commands the disciples
to go and make disciples, not converts. The evangelist is
concerned with conversion. I mean with with with I'm sorry,
(09:44):
not with Not with conversion. The evangelist is concerned with
salvation and entry way into the Kingdom of God. The
evangelist is the sales department of the Kingdom of God.
I sell you the message of Jesus, I give it
to you. You're convinced, and I bring you evangelists convincing power.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Apostles have conversion power.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
How is conversion because conversion is not something that takes
place overnight.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Conversion is something that takes place over time.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
You are being converted right now to the image of
Jesus Christ. And it is the job responsibility of apostles
to build systems of discipleship. It is through the systems
of discipleship that that people are.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Converted into the image of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
And so the apostle is not just going to be
concerned with getting you baptized.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
The apostle.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Is is is I'm getting text much as themself with that.
But you guys will well you know that I'm just
very raw and candid. But the apostle is concerned about
building the system of discipleship that's going to turn you
into a student of Jesus Christ, thus you becoming his
(11:03):
image and representative on the earth. The apostle is a
teacher of ambassadors. The apostle is concerned about building a
system of discipleship that will train you to being an
ambassador of Christ, able to effectively represent Him into whatever
(11:24):
facet of society you are called, so that you can
thus continue the Great commission in wherever place you are
called to be an ambassador. Okay, So they are concerned
with discipleship. Jesus says, teach them to be disciples, make
them into disciples, and disciple all nations. Now there is
(11:48):
a difference between discipling an individual and discipling a nation. Now,
pastors will oftentimes disciple individuals, teachers will oftentimes disciple individuals,
but apostles.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Want to disciple a nation.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Now there is a curriculum we can develop to get
a soul converted and disciple them. And pastors and teachers
oftentimes do that through through the management of their souls,
through teaching them the scriptures and apostles have the ability
to do all of that, But the apostholic mindset to
(12:27):
disciple a nation is different from the pastor or the
teacher's mindset to disciple an individual. To disciple a nation
requires a system. To disciple a nation requires a school,
if you will, To disciple a nation requires a curriculum.
(12:49):
This is where the apostles building acumen takes place. So
we understand when apostle is given the Great commission, it's
not just to convince an individual about Jesus, but it
is to create a system by way of a nation
being able to be disciple and the system of discipleship
(13:13):
that an apostle builds, hear me, must vary from state
to state, city to city, and nation to nation.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
This is why apostles must.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Be students or understand this thing we call culture. Because
what works in Washington, d c. Will not work in
Los Angeles, and what works in America will not work
in Pakistan. So apostles must not yield or submit to
the culture, but they must understand the parameters of the
(13:45):
culture in which they have been sent into, so that
the Great Commission can be expressed in a palatable way
of the culture.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Am I saying a lower the whole see the Great Commission?
Speaker 1 (14:01):
No?
Speaker 2 (14:01):
But Paul said and understood that I must be all
things to all men.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
There is a versatility of the apostle's office, hear me.
There is a versatility of the apostles office that they
exhibit based upon the group of people that they are
called to minister to and raise up to be disciples
of Christ.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
This is the last thing that I'm gonna say to you.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
When we look at the Great Commission from an Apostolic perspective,
hear me, When we look at the Great Commission from
an apois's perspective, we see it a little different. Why,
because Jesus tells the apostles. He says, teach them to
be disciples, go make disciples of all nations. And then
(14:49):
he said, teaching them to observe all that I have
commended you.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
The Greek word for observe is tarero t.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
E r e o, and it means to attend, to carefully,
take care of and to God. So when apostles don't
build systems of discipleship, people are not taught to observe
the commandments of Jesus Christ.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
This is what's happening right now in America.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
People have not met true alpostolic ministry, and they're not
taught to observe the commandments of Jesus Christ.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
What does that mean? To observe? It means to God,
so to In other words, when.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Apostles don't create systems of discipleship, people are not taught
to guard the commandments of Jesus Christ. Thus the commandments
of Jesus Christ become distorted, and thus people live any
kind of way because the body of Christ is not
guarding his commandments.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
The apostles recommunicate.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
The commandments of Jesus Christ and teach people how to
stay faithful to the faith that was preached to us,
that was given to us by Jesus Christ. So the
apostle is a guard to the commandments of Jesus Christ,
and they teach the body how to guard his commandments
against the world. So now worldly teaching has come into
(16:10):
the commandments of Jesus Christ, and distorted teaching has come
because the apostles have not been given a platform to
train us how.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
To defend or guard the faith.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
This is a quick look into the Great Commission from
an apostolic perspective.
