Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello, and welcome to this week's podcast on pray dot
Com or dateline Jerusalem. I'm Chris Mitchell and I'm long
here along with a friend of many years name is
Dean by, one of the founders of a I would
say amazing and prophetic ministry called Return Ministries. So Dean,
it's great to be with you, Chris.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
It's really a privilege and an honor to be with
you and those that are joining us today.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
So, first of all, you're one of the founders of
Return Ministries based in Canada. Tell us about it. What
is Return Ministries.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Return Ministry focuses first and foremost on helping the Christian,
the ecclesia, the Church understand God's heart for Israel. We've
been teaching Hebraic roots for years, teaching the prophetic word,
many educational programs that will ultimately help the Christian understand

(00:56):
that we need to connect with the land and the
people of Israel. Our gospel needs to be connected to
our restoration of the Kingdom back here to Israel, and
ultimately that's working with the church to participate in the
return of Jesus Christ Ishu a Hamashik, the King back

(01:17):
to an earthly Jerusalem. And so with return ministries we
help bring Jewish people home. And here in the land
we have the Aliah Return Center which is in the
North in the Galilee, and our focus there is helping
the Jews when they return home. And so yeah, we've
been about that for many years.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
So tell us and explain what aliyah is. Aliya is
a Hebrew word meaning a sin right exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Sometimes we think of Jesus making his ascension, that word
is making his alia to be on the right end
of Father. You make your assent to go up to Jerusalem,
you are you are making alia to Jerusalem. But it's
the modern word for immigration. So as a Jewish person,

(02:08):
if because of the law of return, they're making their
alia coming from Russia, coming from Euopia, coming from the
four corners of the Earth. Of course, with return ministries
in Canada based and also in the United States, our
focus is helping bring the Jewish people home from North America,

(02:30):
helping them in their alia.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
And there's more Jews in North America than any other
place except Israel.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Correct, the biggest alia I believe the whole universe is
waiting for is I used to say six million Jews,
but you know, they keep having babies, and so there's
probably seven and a half million Jewish people in North
America today that are in that have the ability to

(03:00):
to come and live with you here, Chris, you're in Jerusalem.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
So historically, I believe in the late eighteen hundreds was
when there was a wave, and they talked about waves
of Alia back in the late eighteen hundreds and successive waves.
You were part of the wave coming from the former
Soviet Union in the nineteen nineties. And prophetically you can

(03:24):
go back to Isaiah and Jeremiah and the prophets, and
they foretold this, didn't they take a.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Prophet, They all spoke about it. But I think the
words that really changed my life Jeremiah sixteen fourteen says
that'll come a day where the Israelites will no longer
say that their God is the god who took him
out of the land of Egypt, that's when Moses did
his thing, but they will say he's the God who
took him out of the land of the North and

(03:52):
all the countries to which he vanished them. So imagine
me doing what Billy Graham used to say, read your
newspaper next to your Bible and I'm reading this particular scripture.
Berlin Wall just dropped in nineteen eighty nine. Within nineteen
ninety one, communism falls and Eastern Europe is receiving many

(04:16):
Jews that ultimately the Jewish Agency basically mandated with the
focus on helping the Jewish people get rescued, helping them
return home, and ultimately helping them in their absorption, is
bringing one point two million Jews home over those ten years.

(04:37):
My life changed radically. I got involved only because of
another prophet, Isaiah verse forty nine. He says in verse
twenty two, the Lord beckons to the nations when he
lifts up his hand in oath to bring his sons

(04:57):
in their arms and daughters on their hips or shoulders,
depending which translation you have. And I realized God's asking
me from the nations, from a nation, to cooperate with
him in this return of his people back home, so
that they can cooperate with him in the restoration of

(05:18):
his land. So life changed radically back in nineteen ninety
and here we are today, almost thirty five years later.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
So for thirty five years you've been working in this ministry,
and what have you seen in those thirty five years?

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Well, for me, I'd have to say, working in the
nineties and up until two thousand and three in the
Russian Ali is what we called it, we were bringing
them home by the thousands. We were in those days
busting them to an international airport. In those stays, we
were paying off the debts. Twenty five dollars be the

(06:00):
difference between a Russian or someone from the former Soviet
Union being able to leave their nation then five dollars debt,
so paying off that debt, getting them to an international
efport where the Jewish Agency would bring them home. We
cooperated in that through the nineties. Of course, you have

(06:24):
to educate, so my role was educating and sending I
guess we would have called the missionaries to learn how
to drive those buses, learn how to knock on doors,
learn how to feed and comfort comfort my people. And
so it was. It was a wild several years. And

(06:47):
then the Lord spoke to my heart just before nine
to eleven and began speaking to us about bringing the
Jews out of the United States. And well, you know,
they're pretty comfortable in North America. What's it going to

(07:08):
take to see the Jewish people leave the West? Hosea said,
they all leave Trembling from the West, Chapter eleven, verse ten,
And so all of a sudden, I'm pitted with leaving
the organizations I was working with and leading and part

(07:29):
of basically an international movement that we helped set up
and begin working in a desert. Most of the most
of the work has been education. In those early years,
you bringing two, you bring in three, you know, not,

(07:50):
you know, not hundreds a month, you're bringing five, six, seven, eight.
But in the last few years that number is starting
to write, and I'd have to say, and you know,
it's sad, but anti Semitism rising has made a lot
of Jews in the West uncomfortable, and so their requesting

(08:14):
to come home. And we have what's called Project Return,
where a church congregation can actually sponsor a Jewish person
making their alley or a family, and we're not asking
so much to make money the goal. They do need
help in some cases helping to bring their containers home,
but we want the relationship to be developed. And for

(08:35):
the relationship to be developed, they need to be praying
for them. They need to in some cases come visit
them when they make their ally. It's not easy when
you watch your kids learn the Hebrew before you can
get it, or just being in a very different culture.
And so that's support. And for some of our people,
they've been decades with some of the people that we've

(08:59):
helped home. But for me, God, how do we get
what's the strategy? And I have to say, and I'm
really and I'm speaking to those that no intercession. The
Lord spoke into my heart and he told me years
ago that the Africans, the Indians, and the Chinese are

(09:21):
key to the greatest Alia that the universe will ever see,
and that the travailing prayer of the Africans us in
North America were how do you might say it, fifteen
minutes is al right, a half hour of prayer, but
to put a focus of three hours of prayer and
intercession for just Jewish people to make alia. So we've

(09:45):
started working in Africa since about two sixteen. I've even
brought Africans to North America and no different for the Russians,
where we were bringing Americans and Canadians to the former
Soviet Union. Now we're working to bring Africans to North America.
When you get them singing, he name it told, moving

(10:08):
their shoulders and their hips you're putting them in a synagogue,
and then you have an African say, we've come here,
we've taken an offering, and we've collected a thousand shillings
for many many widows. And you watch and there's and
we're here to help. And I mean sometimes this takes hundreds,

(10:31):
hundreds of people to put their little itty bitty funds
together to help bring a Jew from North America whom
you just watch what that does to the heart of
a Jew. So we've been doing our little itty bitty
part to help facilitate the African, not only as as
it's zeph and I are three ten says that I

(10:52):
shall call my worshippers from beyond the rivers of Ethiopia
to bring my offering. The greatest an African can bring
from beyond the rivers of Ethiopia is his people home.
And the greatest wealth that will ever come from the

(11:13):
nations is going to be his people. And when we
in the Body of Christ understand what's valuable to God
and we put that ahead what sometimes we might even
make more valuable to us, it begins to bring us
into the heart of God. It's one thing to ask
God to come and live in our heart, but a

(11:34):
whole other thing when he allows us to come into
his heart and begin to see his desires and what
that means for Israel. And you know, I know when
I'm talking to you, Chris, I'm talking to the choir.
But for some of those that are out there to
really understand God's longing is to answer the question of
those disciples, the last question, is it now time to

(11:59):
restore the kingdom to Israel? Before Jesus would ascend, it
is time to restore the kingdom to Israel. Yes, he
would scatter them into the four winds, but he would
bring them back home again. And as we've shared, he's
using the nations to be a part of cooperating with this. Now,
for the Africans, can I read you a scripture?

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Yeah, yeah, sure, sure.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Tell you I love I love reading the Scripture in Africa.
And if if you're African and you're listening to this,
just roll up your sleeve, if you're living beyond the
rivers of Ethiopia of cush and just rub your skin
a little bit. And for those that are trying to
imagine this in the other nations, just know how important

(12:47):
it is for us as as a church, as an ecclesia,
to come together in one accord and see the purpose
God has given not only the Africans living in Africa,
but even the African Americans who who who have this call,
I believe says woll to the land shadowed with buzzing wings.

(13:11):
If you've ever been to most parts of Africa, when
you go to bed, you got to put a curtain
around your bed just so you don't wake up with malaria.
A lot of buzzing wings, which is beyond the rivers
of Ethiopia, which sends ambassadors by sea, even in vessels
of reed on the waters. Some of our Bibles actually
call it Papyrus saying, go swift messengers to a nation

(13:36):
tall and smooth of skin. And I got to tell you, Chris,
when you see these smooth skinned people, Ah, Gillette would
do terrible in those nations. But to realize that from
a from looking at the prophetic word and looking for

(13:59):
GPS coordinat no better GPS coordinates. It tells us what's
in it the air, tells us what's on the ground.
It tells us that it's beyond the rivers of Ethiopia.
Then it tells us the type of skin, even their height.
It says to a people terrible from their beginning onward,
a nation powerful and treading down whose land the rivers divide. Now,

(14:20):
if I would stop there, it would only be a
message to Africa. Right now, However, this is a message
for the rest of the planet, because the next verse says,
all inhabitants of the world and dwellers on the earth.
Just in case we didn't get it the first time,
all inhabitants of the world and dwellers on the earth.
When he lifts up a banner on the mountains, and

(14:43):
you see it, and here from Jerusalem that banner is
being lifted. And when he blows the trumpet, you hear it.
And I just love to hear the trumpets sound over
the chauffeurs sound here in Jerusalem. So what God wants
to do in Africa beyond the rivers of Ethiopia with

(15:07):
the smooth skin people. You can read the rest of
Isaiah eighteen, but i'll close this particular scripture at Isaiah eighteen.
In that time a present will be brought to the
Lord of Hosts from a people. Some of our translations
say an offering from a people tall and smoothest skin,

(15:28):
and from a people terrible from their beginning onward, a
nation powerful and treading down whose land the rivers divide,
to the place of the name of the Lord of Hosts,
to Mount Zion. A God's calling a people. B he
wants all the people on earth to see it. And

(15:50):
three the people that he's calling are going to bring
an offering to this city. And what you know, someone
will say, what, what does that offering look like? Some
would say, well, the Africans have been gifted already with
dance and music. Maybe that sound of praise is what
it is. Some would say, well, listen, we've got gold.

(16:12):
I mean, such valuables. Many nations have tried to take
it from under our ground, but they've struggled with it
is it that? Will it be? That which will help
build the Third Temple? All good questions. Thirdly, and I've
already hinted to that, is that offering God's people? And
there's no doubt that we're working on art by bringing

(16:33):
Africans to North America to sing and dance and Jewish
community centers and synagogues. But I've got to say that
probably the greatest offering any one of us can bring
is that offering of prayer and intercession. And I'll tell
you when you get first of all, just getting a

(16:58):
message to Africa. And I've been privileged to be able
to speak around this planet, but nothing like what I've
seen in Africa, the response to a message that's prophetic.
In fact, many would say, and some who've ministered in
Africa know this, they already have a heart for Rasil.

(17:22):
It seems that they don't have some of the same prejudices. Replacement, theology, supersession.
Sure that's alive there. It came with the missionaries, but
the reality is there's an innocence when it comes to
just like they have a love for Israel. Even the

(17:45):
Ethiopians that returned home that when the first when Israel
went in and began to bring them home and they
talked about going to Jerusalem, they heard all the traditional stories.
A lot of the israel that were involved in that alia,
they heard the traditional stories that they longed for Jerusalem,

(18:06):
even before there ever knew that Jerusalem was liberated in
sixty seven. Because in many cases, the Africans don't get
the same news that many of us get. Long in
the short this intercession from the Africans. Once they get it,

(18:26):
they want to pray into it. Then they need to
be informed, they need to be taught. When we started
the Altar of Prayer, it's a twenty four to seven
network alterprayer dot Com. And I invite any of you
who are intercessors to come to a register on Alter
of Prayer when the Africans are there. And I'll never

(18:48):
forget doctor John and Lindy. When we first talked about
doing the watches, he said to me, this is over
four years ago when we started. He says, Dean, I
know that you Westerners you like to pray for one
hour watches. But as Africans, you know it takes us
at least an hour to get into the presence of God,

(19:10):
takes us maybe a second hour to do the warfare
to maintain that presence. Maybe by the third hour we
can have some effectiveness in our intercession and our prayers.
He says, how do you feel about three hour watches?
So we set fifty six watches up and he says, however,

(19:31):
we need from the West. We need you to teach
us the Bible, teach us the prophetic word, help us
to understand our part in the prophetic word and if
you inform our intercession, we'll pray it will travail through it.
And so we've been watching this. We're into our fifth

(19:52):
year now, and it's just I can't say enough that
we're watching the word that I felt I heard years ago,
the Africans, the Chinese, and the Indians beginning to step
into the work of Alia, and from a place of prayer,
from a place of praise and singing and Lord willing.

(20:13):
We've got some of those people that are already in
North America believing they've come to fish, come to knock
on doors and say it's time. And you know, they
can get away with a lot more than I can
with this white skin in a synagogue in North America
to be able to say, hey, God's words says it,

(20:36):
When are you going to actually walk in?

Speaker 1 (20:40):
So this is a marked shift in your experience, your
history with Alia, if I could say that back in
the nineteen nineties, with the former Soviet Union, then shifting
to North America and now where the people of Africa
are being used by the Lord to undergird intercede for

(21:04):
this Alia from the West and for the last four
to five years. Wow, that's incredible.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
I'll tell you it's it's joy and it's just so
much fun. It's so much fun.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
So how can people learn more about return and about
the altar of prayer?

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Return dot co, dot i L, web page, lots of
teaching on there, lots of stuff that people can get
involved in, especially if you're not if you don't have
understanding of Alia. We find I find that not a
lot of people started with Israel with Alia. They started singing, dancing,

(21:49):
praying for the PiZZ of Jerusalem and then somewhere along
the lines, Yeah, God wants the nations to be a
part of Alia. So that's why I said in the beginning,
a big part of our ministry's education, but alter of prayer.
If you're already praying for Israel and I'm I'm talking

(22:10):
to Chris and we're talking to others out there, I
can only imagine many of you please join us again.
It's it's not for everyone, but it's return dot se
dot i L. If you're involved in African, Asian, Indian
ministries or ministries in the Far East, yeah, we encourage

(22:34):
you to invite people to pray specifically for Aliah. This
is this is a prayer that's specifically for Alia and
the return of the Jewish people to live in the
land and to fulfill their prophetic purpose, all in preparation
for the return of the King back to Jerusalem.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
Is that alterateprayer dot com?

Speaker 2 (22:58):
Yes, it is, thank you for your.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Is that on Return Ministry's website or is that a separate.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Separate okay website? Yes it is. Dean, would you lead
us in prayer? Yeah? Well, Father, we come before you
in the authority and in the power of Jesus name. Lord.
I want to thank you for my brother Chris, his wife,
their family, and pray that you continue to shield and
protect all that they're doing, not only here in Drusom,

(23:29):
but intonations. And Father, we come before you, and we say,
Oh God, empower us here in the body of Christ
to know your will on earth as it is in Heaven,
to be able to cooperate with what you're doing. Is

(23:49):
it relates to the people of Israel being returned back
to the land of Israel for the glorifying in the
honoring of your great name Lord. In the words of
the Apostle Paul's he closed out the Book of Romans
sixteen twenty five that we would know the gospel that

(24:09):
the apostle Paul was called to give to the Gentiles,
to proclaim Jesus Christ according to a revelation of a
mystery hidden for ages past, but now revealed and made
known through the prophetic writings and by the eternal command
of God, so that nations could believe and obey the

(24:33):
only wise God. To Him be all glory forever to
Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Amen, Father, we thank you for Dean and return ministries
and alter her prayer, and we pray that you continue
to bless them, expand their influence in their ministry. And
we just pray that this call of prayer would continue
to go to Africa and India, China and.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
The well all over globally.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
Father, that you would use this prayer movement to fulfill
the words of the prophet from thousands of years ago,
and we'll see the return of the king here in Jerusalem.
And Father, we pray for each and everyone listening that
you would bless them, watch over them, help each of
them fulfill your purpose and plan those good works that

(25:25):
you have ordained for them since the foundation.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
Of the world. And we asked this in Jesus' name.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Amen, Amen, Dean by great to be with you, God bless,
Thank you, God bless.
