Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're going to go listen to that wacko again.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Everything on earth will perish everything.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
You don't think this will ruin their friendship?

Speaker 4 (00:12):
Do you ruining a friendship over some story?

Speaker 5 (00:25):
I miss Jean, Join me on a trip to Discovery Mountain,
where the air is clear, clear enough to hear your imagination,
and where every day is an exercise in faith. Join
me for today's expedition. It's a new morning and Discovery Mountain,

(00:53):
but one thing has not changed. It is still raining,
and that's a problem. Because of all that rain, there
was a mud slide at Discovery Mountain Academy. The mud
slide damaged the playground and Missus Lewis's classroom, and today
it's causing chaos a little further away at the Beckman House.

(01:16):
Let's join Jenna and her family in today's episode called
Animal Arc.

Speaker 6 (01:23):
What's all that noise?

Speaker 7 (01:25):
Your dad's reorganizing the garage.

Speaker 6 (01:28):
It's already organized.

Speaker 8 (01:30):
We're the only people I know who can actually park
their cars in the garage.

Speaker 7 (01:35):
He said he needs to make room for more supplies.

Speaker 6 (01:39):
What kind of supplies?

Speaker 7 (01:40):
After that blizzard and power outage a while ago, then
the mud slide yesterday, your dad said, we need to
be better prepared for emergencies.

Speaker 8 (01:49):
But Mom, dad already bought every battery, candle and first
aid kit Trekkers.

Speaker 7 (01:55):
Had, and so much canned food we could survive a
snow polka lips.

Speaker 6 (02:01):
So what's he making room for?

Speaker 9 (02:04):
Glad you asked, you can never be too prepared, So
I've ordered a year's supply of emergency food bars, a
camp stove, a CBE radio, and the Defender X five thousand.

Speaker 7 (02:16):
Defender?

Speaker 9 (02:17):
What the Defender X five thousand just the best, most
powerful generator out there. That baby could power the whole neighborhood.
It's arriving this afternoon, Steve, how.

Speaker 7 (02:31):
Much did that cost?

Speaker 10 (02:33):
What's peace of mind worth?

Speaker 11 (02:35):
Amy?

Speaker 7 (02:36):
Buying a generator that big doesn't seem to make sense.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
You're right, I should have bought two.

Speaker 11 (02:43):
Mom.

Speaker 8 (02:44):
I just need to grab my backpack and I'll be
ready to leave for school.

Speaker 7 (02:47):
Okay, I'll meet you at the car, Steve. We'll talk
more after I get back from this morning school assembly program.

Speaker 9 (02:55):
You're going to go listen to that wacko again.

Speaker 7 (02:57):
He's not a wacko. He's an archaeologist.

Speaker 9 (03:01):
He's the mud guy. Does that sound like a serious
archaeologist to you.

Speaker 7 (03:06):
Well, he seemed to know what he was talking about.

Speaker 9 (03:09):
He was talking about a guy who supposedly built a
boat big enough to save all the animals in the world.

Speaker 7 (03:16):
I'm actually surprised you don't want to learn more about Noah.
Why is that Noah spent one hundred and twenty years
preparing to survive a worldwide disaster. That means he was
the ultimate prepper. You two would have had a lot
in common.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
The Beckmans aren't the only ones feeling the stress because
of the mud slide. The teachers and students at Discover
Mountain Academy are feeling pretty anxious.

Speaker 12 (03:46):
Too, Natasha, have you seen Rich yet?

Speaker 11 (03:52):
Oh? Oh, never mind, there he is.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
That's not Rich, it's Jake.

Speaker 7 (03:56):
But he Jake wore his mud guy hat today.

Speaker 11 (04:00):
Oh okay, I'll keep looking.

Speaker 7 (04:02):
Then morning, Hannah ready for class in the gymnasium.

Speaker 13 (04:06):
Today, I think so? Say. I wanted to thank you
again for taking my class yesterday.

Speaker 7 (04:13):
No problem, I just hope I don't have to do
it again anytime soon.

Speaker 13 (04:17):
Dealing with the mudslide must have been terrible.

Speaker 7 (04:21):
The mud slide was easy compared to managing Luke and
Lily do they always fight so much.

Speaker 13 (04:26):
I've found ways to help them with their twin rivalry.

Speaker 7 (04:29):
You are a more patient teacher than I am.

Speaker 13 (04:33):
I don't know. Today's going to be a hard day.
The mudslide was scary, it sure was. And teaching in
the gym instead of the classroom. My students don't respond
well to changes in their schedules. Never mind this, Maybe
it won't be.

Speaker 14 (04:49):
So bad, Lou You made me so my booh, sorry, no,
you're not use didn't.

Speaker 13 (04:56):
On purpose, Natasha? Are you sure you don't want to
suffer for me today?

Speaker 6 (05:02):
And kinda go sea?

Speaker 11 (05:05):
Good morning, students and staff.

Speaker 12 (05:07):
Remember we're beginning our day in the gym for an assembly.

Speaker 11 (05:11):
You won't want to miss the mud guy. Hurry to
the gym.

Speaker 12 (05:18):
All right, All right, as soon as everyone gets settled,
we'll start.

Speaker 15 (05:23):
Carson. Do you have a pencil?

Speaker 13 (05:25):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Yeah, Brianna, here you go.

Speaker 15 (05:28):
Thanks, I forgot my recorder. I need to take notes.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
You're really into all this Noah stuff, aren't you.

Speaker 16 (05:33):
That's awesome, Brianna. Aren't you amazed how much evidence there
is for the flood?

Speaker 6 (05:38):
Reporters?

Speaker 15 (05:38):
Stay neutral, Cyrus?

Speaker 16 (05:40):
Neutral? You mean you don't believe in Noah's flood.

Speaker 15 (05:43):
I haven't formed an opinion, but how can.

Speaker 16 (05:45):
You ignore all the evidence?

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Hey, guys, stop arguing.

Speaker 15 (05:50):
Sorry Addison, We're just having a discussion.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Sounded like an argument to me.

Speaker 11 (05:55):
Okay, Rich, I think we can begin.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Thanks, Yes, good morning everyone.

Speaker 13 (06:02):
Red.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
It's what I'm wearing.

Speaker 17 (06:04):
My mud I had, and you've got the right hattitude.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Now, Jake, I have a question.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Oh, a question already. What's your name?

Speaker 8 (06:14):
Lily?

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Okay, Lily, what's your question?

Speaker 14 (06:17):
You said Noah saved all the animals?

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Right right?

Speaker 14 (06:21):
How did he round up all the animals in the
whole world. He'd have to walk to Australia just to
get two kangaroos.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Well, let's see what the Bible says.

Speaker 11 (06:33):
Here.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
It is in Genesis six.

Speaker 17 (06:35):
Now, the earth was corrupt in God's sight and full
of violence, so God said to Noah.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
As only happens in Discovery Mountain. When Rich read the
Bible verse, the students could almost hear it in their imagination.
Can you hear God and Noah's conversation.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
I'm going to put an end to all people, for
the earth is filled with violence because of them. I
am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.
Lord you're going to do what I have seen. How
great the wickedness of the human race has become there.
Every thought is evil. I regret that I ever made them.

(07:18):
But you, Noah, have found favor in my eyes.

Speaker 10 (07:22):
I have followed you all my days. I want you
to make yourself an arc of wood, an arc lord.
Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and
out with pitch. Make a roof and put in a
window eighteen inches from the top, but the door of
the arc in its side. Make it with lower, second

(07:43):
and third decks. All you have asked of me, I
will do.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
I am about to cover the earth with a flood
that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth,
will perish everything. But I will confirm my covenant with you.
So enter the boat, you and your wife, and your
sons and their wives.

Speaker 6 (08:08):
WHOA I love it when that happens.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Lily, wasn't that awesome?

Speaker 14 (08:12):
It certainly wasn't how I always imagined it, mister mudguy. Yes, Lily,
that still doesn't answer my question. How did Noah run
up all the animals?

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Well, let's keep reading, Lily. The answer is in verse twenty.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Noah, listen carefully pairs of every kind of bird, and
every kind of animal, and every kind of small animal
that scurries along the ground will come to you to
be kept alive.

Speaker 10 (08:41):
My family loves your creatures. Lord, we shall faithfully care
for them.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
All.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
You must take with you every kind of food that
is eaten, and store it up. It shall serve as
food for you and for them.

Speaker 10 (08:55):
Everything you have commanded we will do.

Speaker 17 (09:01):
Did you catch that lily? Pairs of every animal will
come to you.

Speaker 16 (09:05):
So Noah didn't have to go to Australia, did he?

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Nope, the animals came to him.

Speaker 14 (09:11):
How hold that even possible?

Speaker 17 (09:14):
Well, the short answer is because God told them to.
Even today, we see animals travel incredible distances when they migrate.

Speaker 16 (09:22):
It's instinctual, like when birds myself for the winter exactly.

Speaker 17 (09:27):
For example, Arctic terns they fly nearly fifty six thousand
miles every year, and they live up to thirty years,
so during their lifetime they traveled the equivalent of going
to the moon and back more than three times.

Speaker 15 (09:42):
Butterflies migrate a long way too, don't they.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Yes, Monarch butterflies migrate three thousand miles, and they tracked
one that flew two hundred and sixty five miles in
one day.

Speaker 14 (09:54):
But what about the animals that can't fly?

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Well, land animals could easily have made it to the arc.

Speaker 17 (10:00):
I mean every year, some zebras migrate three hundred miles
in just two or three weeks. And you might not
think of elephants as being fast, but they can travel
thirty five miles a day.

Speaker 14 (10:10):
But how can Noah fit millions of animals in the arc?

Speaker 15 (10:14):
He didn't, I rest my case.

Speaker 17 (10:17):
Well, people think there must have been millions of animals
because there are millions.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
Of species today. But God didn't tell Noah to take
two of every species. He said, kinds.

Speaker 8 (10:28):
That's the same thing.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
No it isn't You see?

Speaker 17 (10:32):
A dog is a kind And Noah didn't need every
species of dog on the arc, just one pair of
the canine kind.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Does that make sense?

Speaker 11 (10:41):
Take it from a science teacher.

Speaker 12 (10:43):
That pair of dogs had all the possible DNA combinations
for all the possible kinds of dogs we see today, Coyotes, wolves, dingoes,
even poodles.

Speaker 11 (10:57):
Yes, Mia.

Speaker 18 (10:58):
Unfortunately, hey Carson, that means German shepherds too.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
So how many total animals were there?

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Well, some experts think that there were ten to twenty
thousand individual animals. And remember, most animal kinds are fairly small.

Speaker 18 (11:16):
And it's logical to think that God would have set
younger animals to Noah. Why well, juveniles would be smaller,
eat less, and be easier to manage.

Speaker 17 (11:25):
Right, And what we could know for sure is that
there was plenty of room on.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
The ark for all of them.

Speaker 15 (11:31):
I have another question.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Go ahead, Lily Rich.

Speaker 12 (11:36):
Let's give the students a quick break before you tackle
another of Lily's questions.

Speaker 17 (11:40):
Okay, kids, you heard the principle. It's time for a break.

Speaker 5 (11:47):
We're going to take a little break too. We'll be
right back.

Speaker 17 (12:26):
Okay, let's get back to Noah and the flood of
questions you have.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Uh, Lily, you had another one.

Speaker 8 (12:34):
Yes, I do.

Speaker 15 (12:35):
What about the pitch?

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Uh, the pitch?

Speaker 14 (12:39):
It says Noah covered the arc with pitch, But everyone
knows pitch comes from fossil fuel.

Speaker 15 (12:45):
You mean, like from the dinosaurs.

Speaker 14 (12:47):
Yeah, so where did the pitch come from if the
dinosaurs weren't dead yet?

Speaker 17 (12:52):
Well, people have used other sources of pitch for centuries.
For example, they used to seal ships with pine tree resident.

Speaker 16 (12:59):
So Noah didn't need fossil fuels. Make sure you put
that in your notes, Brianna.

Speaker 15 (13:05):
I'm noting everything that's important, Cyrus.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
Speaking of fossils, I have one to show you.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
What are fossils?

Speaker 8 (13:13):
Dead things?

Speaker 17 (13:15):
Fossils are the remains of living things that are preserved
in rocks.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
This is copper light. Anyone want to hold it?

Speaker 5 (13:24):
I do.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Welcome on up here, young man. Wow, this is so cool, Harold.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
Do you know what a copra light is? Of course
I do.

Speaker 16 (13:33):
Mia.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
It's a fossil, Yes, a fossilized dinosaur.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Dropping and what.

Speaker 17 (13:40):
Maybe we should stick to the pictures of fossils.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Check this one out.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
Is that a flour?

Speaker 17 (13:46):
It's a fossilized jellyfish. What do you know about jellyfish?

Speaker 4 (13:51):
They live in the ocean.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Right, they're squishy.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Right again.

Speaker 17 (13:55):
This jellyfish is evidence that Noah's flood was real.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
It is how well, in order to turn into a fossil,
this jellyfish had to be buried in mud really fast.

Speaker 6 (14:07):
Why did it have to be fast.

Speaker 17 (14:09):
Because otherwise it would have quickly decayed with nothing left
to leave an impression.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
Here's another fossil picture.

Speaker 7 (14:16):
That's a fish.

Speaker 17 (14:18):
It is well, or at least it used to be.
It's an ichthyosaur.

Speaker 6 (14:22):
Fossil is right, it's hideous.

Speaker 17 (14:25):
Ichthyosaur means fish lizard, and they look kind of like
modern dolphins.

Speaker 6 (14:31):
Dolphins are way cuterer.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Than that, maybe, but you notice how detailed it is.

Speaker 16 (14:37):
You can see eyes and fins in everything.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
And if it wasn't buried rapidly, those details would have
been lost. But most important.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
Is where it was found At the bottom of the ocean.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Nope, on top of a mountain.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Really a mountain.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
That's right.

Speaker 17 (14:58):
Either this ichthiosaur it was an excellent mountain climber, or
at some point an awful lot of water covered the
mountain it was found on.

Speaker 14 (15:07):
It could never rain hard enough to cover a mountain
with water.

Speaker 17 (15:11):
Yeah, right again, lily, there wasn't enough rain swam right.
It wasn't just rain, though. Listen to these verses in
Genesis seven. In the six hundred year of Noah's life.
On that day, all the fountains of the Gray Deep
burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened.

(15:34):
The rain fell on the earth for forty days and
forty nights. On that very day, Noah and his sons
shem Ham and Jayfon, together with his wife and the
wives of his three sons, entered the ark. The waters
swelled up mightily on the earth that all the high
hills under the whole heaven were covered. The waters swelled

(15:56):
above the mountains. The waters flooded the earth for one
hundred and fifty days.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Father, where have you been?

Speaker 10 (16:08):
Your mother needed help? Cleaning up the terraf and enclosure.
Maintaining animal pans is and never ending chore, isn't it him? Boy?

Speaker 19 (16:17):
It sure is speaking of never ending? Has God told
you how much longer will be afloat him?

Speaker 10 (16:24):
We knew this wouldn't be easy. Being cooped up like
this is hard on all of us, man and animal alike.

Speaker 19 (16:32):
We must be patient, yes, But Father has been nearly
five months I.

Speaker 10 (16:38):
Know, son, but the waters are no longer rising. Surely
that means we are near the end, or at least nearer.

Speaker 19 (16:47):
When God said it would rain for forty days, I
guess I expected everything would be over after that, But
the water just kept rising.

Speaker 10 (16:55):
I'm still not sure where it all came from.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
I have to admit I was.

Speaker 19 (17:00):
He's a bit frightened.

Speaker 10 (17:01):
We all worship him. But God protected us, didn't he?

Speaker 1 (17:06):
Yes, he did, father, and we must.

Speaker 10 (17:08):
Trust that He's with us still, no matter how much
longer we must be aboard this boat.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
Yes, Father.

Speaker 19 (17:15):
When you and Jafoth were designing the food storage systems,
you know, I thought for sure you were stockpiling far
more than.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
We'd ever need.

Speaker 10 (17:25):
So did your mother.

Speaker 19 (17:26):
Well it's a good thing you didn't listen to us,
or we would have run out of food months ago.

Speaker 10 (17:30):
A good thing. Indeed. Our meals may be simple, but
God has provided.

Speaker 19 (17:36):
And speaking of meals, it smells like something's cooking, maybe
lintal stew.

Speaker 10 (17:42):
Let's go and give thanks for the food and for the.

Speaker 19 (17:45):
Receding waters, which give us the assurance that this flood
will come to an end.

Speaker 10 (17:50):
Will you gather your brothers, you know, if.

Speaker 19 (17:52):
My brothers have caught the sin of that stew. They're
already on their way.

Speaker 17 (18:02):
And then in chapter eight we read but God remembered
Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that
were with him in the ark, and he sent a
wind over the earth, and the waters receded. Now, the
springs of the Deep and the floodgates of the heavens
had been closed, and the rain had stopped falling from

(18:24):
the sky.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
The water receded steadily from the earth. And at the
end of the one hundred and fifty days the water
had gone down.

Speaker 14 (18:35):
It said, all the fountains of the great Deep burst forth.
And then after one hundred and fifty days, the springs
of the Deep closed.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
That's right, you got it.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Does springs of the deep mean the water came out
of the ground.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
That's exactly what it means.

Speaker 17 (18:49):
Rain poured out of the sky, and immense jets of
water came out of the ground.

Speaker 15 (18:56):
How can water come out of the ground?

Speaker 1 (19:00):
Have you ever heard of a geyser?

Speaker 16 (19:01):
Isn't that a really old man?

Speaker 6 (19:04):
That's a geezer, Harold.

Speaker 17 (19:07):
Unless you're in Iceland there geysers are called geezers.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Now I'm really confused.

Speaker 6 (19:15):
What's new?

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Hey?

Speaker 17 (19:19):
You see, a geyser is a hot spring that sends
up jets of water or steam like a fountain.

Speaker 15 (19:25):
No way a geyser could flood a mountain.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Well, first of all, mountains didn't exist.

Speaker 14 (19:31):
What they didn't exist?

Speaker 17 (19:34):
Well, the flood caused the Earth's crust to shatter into
what we call tectonic plates. When those plates smashed into
each other, they formed the high mountains we see today.

Speaker 16 (19:46):
So the flood didn't have to cover anything as tall
as say, Mount Everest did it not even close?

Speaker 1 (19:52):
And it wasn't just one geyser. The Bible says the
fountains of the deep.

Speaker 15 (19:57):
Remember, so how many were there?

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Wow, we don't know.

Speaker 17 (20:01):
There are more than five hundred geysers alone in Yellowstone
National Park, So just imagine how many could have opened
up all over the earth. They were undoubtedly a lot
more powerful than Old Faithful.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Old What Old Faithful? The most famous geyser in Yellowstone.

Speaker 17 (20:19):
It shoots up eight thousand gallons of boiling water into
the air, an average of one hundred and forty five
feet high, and it does.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
It approximately every ninety minutes. You have to go see
it yay Field.

Speaker 10 (20:31):
Trip to Old Faithful not in the budget.

Speaker 15 (20:34):
Harold, Ah, I have another question.

Speaker 17 (20:38):
Unfortunately, Lily, I don't have time for more questions. I
was hoping to talk about the geologic column. But if
I don't get outside to help with that retaining wall,
my name's going to be Mud.

Speaker 15 (20:50):
It's already mud.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Good point, Lily Rich.

Speaker 12 (20:55):
If I could talk the work crew into sharing you,
will you come back tomorrow for another DS.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
If you get the okay from Stan and John, then
you've got yourself a deal.

Speaker 5 (21:08):
We're going to take a short break, but don't go anywhere.

Speaker 6 (21:12):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 18 (21:14):
