Speaker 1 (00:02):
Why is the parking lot so full? It looks like
half the town's here. We might get in trouble.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Come on, don't be a whimp.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
What if something bad's happened to them?

Speaker 4 (00:15):
Wow, you actually sound worried, I, Miss Jean, Join me
on a trip to Discovery Mountain, where the air is clear,
clear enough to hear your imagination, and where every day

(00:35):
is an exercise in faith. Join me for today's expedition.
There's plenty of activity at Discovery Mountain Academy this morning,
and school hasn't even started yet. Joyce Holt and the

(00:58):
other teachers made a lot of phone calls yesterday. They
notified parents about the power outage and the field trip
to the dig site, and then parents began making calls
of their own. Now it seems the whole town has
heard about the electric line that was cut by an excavator.
Stan and John Harris have been busy too, planning how

(01:21):
to get the project finished with no electricity. How will
they be able to finish the retaining wall and the
repairs to Missus Lewis's classroom before the next big rainstorm?
And how will the students get to the mudguy's dig
site if there's no one to drive the bus. Well,
let's find some answers. In today's episode, it's the last

(01:45):
one in our story series called Weathering the Storm. Let's
head over to the school. Oh look, the bus is
up front, and Jake's climbing on board. In today's episode
called Rainbow Reminder.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Look the top. Shall we can sit here in the
front of the bus and have the best view.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I guess all the kids.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
Wanted to sit further in the back.

Speaker 6 (02:05):
I'm not worried about where we sit, Jake. I'm too
worried about this whole last minute field trip to enjoy
the view.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
Anyways, you're worried. Did you remember you're a tailor? Are
you breathing?

Speaker 7 (02:14):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (02:15):
I'm fine, Jake.

Speaker 6 (02:16):
I'm just on edge because this excursion was put together
so hurriedly. There's so much that could go wrong. Now,
just go ahead and take attendance and stop worrying about me.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
I'm your husband. It's like job to worry about you.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Janet, sit here, we need to talk.

Speaker 8 (02:32):
Shure me up? What about and what's in the bag?

Speaker 9 (02:35):
I brought the camera and microphone. We're gonna turn the
field trips into our next podcast.

Speaker 8 (02:41):
You want us to do an episode of Mountain Mysteries
on the bus.

Speaker 7 (02:45):
Just listen.

Speaker 9 (02:46):
I have some really good ideas.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
Carson over here.

Speaker 7 (02:51):
Thanks Addison. Ooh, this bus is crowded. It's a lot
smaller than the one at mild School.

Speaker 9 (02:57):
Oh that's why I saved you a seat.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Where's Cyrus right behind you?

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Bro?

Speaker 10 (03:02):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Where's Brianna? Oh you're safe, Cyrus, she's in the back.

Speaker 7 (03:06):
Are you guys gonna ever get over this silly feud?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
She started it? Well, one of you needs to end it.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Everyone sit down, please, Luke Davis move?

Speaker 7 (03:18):
Please?

Speaker 5 (03:19):
Lily, could you please be quiet? I've got to take attendance.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Can you please make Luke move? I was here first. No,
you weren't this I was. You just went to window
seat here.

Speaker 5 (03:31):
I've got an idea, Lily. Why don't you come sit
with Natasha and me?

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Uh but Jake, we can't fit Lily up here too, Sure.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
We can, Natasha. She won't take up a droom, Jake.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
I'm already stressed out.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
Oh, Lily won't be more stressed.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
Good things come in small packages, remember, so does dynamite.

Speaker 7 (03:51):
I can't believe we're really going on a field trip.

Speaker 8 (03:54):
Harold's dream is finally coming true.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Aren't you excited too, Jennet?

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Why should she be?

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Nothing's happening yet.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
We're just sitting in a bus.

Speaker 7 (04:05):
But Kyler as soon as the driver gets here, we're
on our way to day of adventure.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Better yet, a day of no classes.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
That reminds me Cyrus. I thought your dad said they
didn't have anyone to drive the bus.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
I guess he was wrong.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Hey, look here comes You're dead now and the mud guy.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
And stands with them too.

Speaker 7 (04:22):
Uh Stan, the guy with the German shepherd.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Wait? Did Stan say he could drive anything?

Speaker 7 (04:31):
You mean Stan's going to drive the bus?

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Oh?

Speaker 10 (04:35):
Boy?

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Cars? Then diesels coming on the field trip with us?
H Why me?

Speaker 4 (04:44):
So?

Speaker 9 (04:45):
What do you think about making a podcast?

Speaker 7 (04:47):
Jennet, I'm it?

Speaker 8 (04:48):
What about you? Harold?

Speaker 10 (04:50):
Well, there'll be a lot of background noise, but I
think your dad can help me remove from the audio files.

Speaker 8 (04:56):
Yeah he could. When he recorded me practicing for my piano,
he took out the sound of Ruby barking in the backyard.

Speaker 9 (05:04):
You ready, Mudguy?

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Ready as I'll ever be?

Speaker 4 (05:07):
All right, then let's get started.

Speaker 11 (05:09):
Ready?

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Three two one, Hello.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
And welcome to another exciting episode of Mountain mysteries. I'm Mia, and.

Speaker 8 (05:18):
I'm Jennet and Harold over there is a faithful sound
guy sidekick.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
Hey, I'm more than a sidekick.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Today we'll be asking important questions about the story of Noah.

Speaker 8 (05:28):
Is there evidence of a global flood lurking beneath Discovery Mountain?
Did Noah gets sees it? Who queens a lion glitter boxes?

Speaker 9 (05:38):
Our first guest is the mud guy.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Hi there, mister mudguy.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
What's the best evidence of a worldwide flood?

Speaker 10 (05:46):
Well, the best evidence is God's testimony in the Book
of Genesis.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
But there's more evidence right under you.

Speaker 8 (05:52):
The floor of the bus is evidence.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Now the earth itself is evidence.

Speaker 10 (05:58):
The flood buried millions of dead things all over the
world in layer upon layer of rock.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
They were buried very quickly.

Speaker 8 (06:07):
Next question, how could a wooden boat survive something like
Noah's flood?

Speaker 10 (06:12):
Well, scientists have studied the proportions of the arc and
it was incredibly seaworthy. They could have tossed and turned
violently and still kept floating.

Speaker 8 (06:22):
Tossed and turned, So Noah might have gotten seasick.

Speaker 10 (06:25):
Oh maybe, But the point to remember is that God
kept him safe.

Speaker 9 (06:30):
In Bible Class Chaplin.

Speaker 8 (06:32):
Jake said, it takes faith to believe in the story
of Noah.

Speaker 10 (06:35):
God does ask us to have faith, mia, but he
doesn't require blind faith.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
He gives us plenty of evidence to support our faith.

Speaker 7 (06:43):
So you believe there's plenty of evidence for Noah's flood.

Speaker 10 (06:46):
Yeah, I've already shown you all some of the evidence,
but when we get to the.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Dig site, I'll show you more. You just have to
be willing to see it.

Speaker 9 (06:55):
Good point.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Any other questions, Yes.

Speaker 8 (06:59):
If the ark only had one window way at the top,
it'd be pretty dark inside. What kind of lights did
they use?

Speaker 10 (07:06):
Well, that's easy, Jennet, floodlights.

Speaker 5 (07:17):
All right, everyone, we're here.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Come on, Carson, let's go watch the hurry.

Speaker 7 (07:24):
I'll avoid the crush and let everyone get off the
bus first.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
You're not fooling me. You just don't want to walk
past diesel.

Speaker 7 (07:32):
That has nothing to do with it. I'm just being polite.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
As the students piled off with the bus, Olivia gathered
them around for some instructions.

Speaker 12 (07:44):
Okay, everyone, DS asked me to be in charge of
this field trip, so I need your full attention.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Yes, two people are listening. Great start.

Speaker 12 (07:55):
Okay, First, I need you to stay with your teachers.
And second, don't touch anything without permission. Uh, yes, Lily,
there's nothing out here but mud.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Who want to touch anything?

Speaker 4 (08:10):
Well, I'm guessing the mud guy does.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
That's right.

Speaker 10 (08:13):
I love playing in the mud, and by the end
of the day, I think you'll love it too, even Lily,
don't be too sure about that. Tell you what, how'd
you like to be my assistant today, Lily? I need
someone who understands archaeology to help us find clues, clues
to what hold Noah's flood. But first I have some
important instructions.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Students.

Speaker 9 (08:36):
Listen up.

Speaker 10 (08:37):
This is an archaeological tag site. In a few days,
there'll be a whole crew up here searching for fossils.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
I'm ready. I've got my hat.

Speaker 10 (08:46):
Yes, Jake, I can see now. When I started scouting
this area, I found a couple of especially interesting spots.

Speaker 9 (08:54):
Interesting.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
How you've found fossils, didn't you?

Speaker 10 (08:58):
Yes, I did, Lily, rex fossils, Sorry, Harold, nothing that impressive, Harold.

Speaker 8 (09:06):
If the mudguy found a t rex, he wouldn't be
on the field trip with us. He'd be on the
cover of National Geographic.

Speaker 10 (09:13):
Well, we're gonna go up the hills, so I can
show you some interesting fossils, but it's important that you
stay below those big boulders. Why, well, it's because it
gets a whole lot steeper beyond them.

Speaker 9 (09:27):
Steep hills don't scare me.

Speaker 10 (09:29):
Well, it's muddy, so it'd be easy to lose your footing,
especially for the younger kids.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
I bet I could do it.

Speaker 10 (09:36):
It's not worth the risk, Lily, which is too bad
because there's some pretty cool stuff up there. Okay, now
our first fossil is in this trench I dug right here, Lily,
can you point it out to everyone?

Speaker 3 (09:49):
As you can all see this is a trilobite.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
What kind of bite a trilobite?

Speaker 10 (09:55):
And what can you tell everyone about trilobites, Lily?

Speaker 3 (09:59):
They're extinct arthropods, arthropods.

Speaker 9 (10:02):
It just looks like a big bug.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
To me, Lily. What's an example of a modern arthropod?

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Praps? Arthropods mostly lived in oceans.

Speaker 10 (10:13):
So what does that tell us about this fossil that
I found way up here, nearly at the top of
the mountain.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
This used to be an ocean, These.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Mountains used to be underwater. That's evidence of Noah's flood.
Isn't it.

Speaker 10 (10:28):
Yes, Trilobites are some of the most common fossils. They're
proof that water once covered the whole earth. They're also
a proof that many fossils were preserved very quickly.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Oh they had soft bodies, so they'd rot really fast.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
Ew.

Speaker 9 (10:44):
That's kind of disgusting.

Speaker 10 (10:46):
But the point, Jenet, is that they were obviously buried
very very rapidly, like in a catastrophic flood, like the jellyfish.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Yeah, and here's more proof. Take a look.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Hey, that's a leaf fossil.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Yeah. Have you ever tried to preserve a leaf?

Speaker 3 (11:05):
I tried ones, but it just shrivels up.

Speaker 13 (11:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Once leaves die, they begin to curl up.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Right, Why didn't the edges of that leaf curl up?

Speaker 2 (11:14):
You can see the whole outline of that.

Speaker 10 (11:16):
The leaves were buried before they had a chance to
shrivel up. Now, Lily, because you've been such a great assistant,
I have something for you. You do a real archaeologist
needs to write accessories.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
So here you go.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
It's a hat just like yours.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
Hey, yeah, we all have the same hat.

Speaker 10 (11:38):
We're trimblets, Lily, I see Chaplain Jake, all right, everyone
follow me let's explore some mud.

Speaker 5 (11:46):
Lily sure a great helper, isn't she?

Speaker 4 (11:48):
Natasha? She sure is? Hey, Rich, how did you get
Lily to cooperate? What's your secret?

Speaker 2 (11:55):
No secret? I just remembered a famous piece of advice.

Speaker 5 (11:59):
What advice keep your friends close.

Speaker 10 (12:02):
And your enemies closer. Hi gave her a hat and
put her on my teeth.

Speaker 9 (12:07):
Brilliant.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
I'll have to remember that. As everyone explores the mud,
we'll take a short break.
