Speaker 2 (01:02):
Who's in charge?
Speaker 3 (01:06):
What in the world is going on?
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Did y'all see the headlines this week? EMLG and W
truck stolen brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, twenty twenty three has
been a record year for Memphis for all the wrong numbers,
from homicide to Carl Jackins to thefts and robbery.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Y'all.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
We need a change in who's in charge. Who's in
charge of our hearts, who's in charge of our minds,
who's in charge of our direction? We need a change
of who's in charge because I believe that with the
right one in charge, it can change ever rep thing.
(01:55):
And that's what I'm praying for him. That's what I'm
asking God to do, y'all. We need a spiritual We
need another greater awakening. We need a faith lift for
our city. Not a faith lift just put an appendide
on our situation, but.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
We need a faith lift.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
The Bible says that without faith, it is impossible to
please God.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
But we need believers who still believe.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
That with God, all things are possible, that He is
able to do exceedingly abundantly above all, that.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
We can even ask all things. We need a faith
lift in our community.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
And that's what the question becomes, y'all, because we need
a makeover that can lead to a takeover back of
our streets and our community once again. But it starts
with this question, who's in charge?
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Who's in charge?
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Better yet, JT, the question is who's in charge of you?
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Me? Yes, Who's in charge of you, preacher. Don't you
mean who's in charge of the White House. No?
Speaker 2 (03:06):
No, don't you mean who's in charge of the Mayor's office,
or who's in charge of the sheriff office. Don't you
mean who's in charge.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Of city Hall? No? No, I mean who's in charge
of you?
Speaker 2 (03:18):
The last time I checked, y'all, the only one that
any one of us have control over is our seal.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
We can't make the next person do anything.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Matter of fact, we am church, and you can't even
make the next person sitting beside you do something.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Don't even look at them too hard, look, y'all.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Only one that we can control is ourselves. But when
enough of us give the charge of our lives over.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
To Jesus, why what a change will take place.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
I'm talking about a change in our homes, a change
in our neighborhood, a change in our community.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
With enough of us.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
The Bible does say that righteousness exalts a nation, but
sin is a reproach to every people.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
If my people, who I call by my.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Name, will humb up themselves and pray seek my face
and turned from their wicked way, God says I will
hear from heaven heal the land and forgive them of
their sin. But it's got to start with each one
of us, given God charge of our lives. That's why
I thank God for Revelationshelpter twenty two.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Y'all. It gives us a glorious.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Glimpse of eternity, but at the same time, it gives
us hope of a potential tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
I'm excited about both.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
I'm excited about eternity because I'm going to the police
where the wicked will cease from troubling and the weird
will be at rest.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
I'm going to the police.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Wherever a day will be Sabbath and Someday and Lord
saying it will have no end. I'm going to a
place of eternal rest and peace. And I'm excited about
eternity in heaven. Brothers and sisters, I'm equally excited about
(05:15):
my potential tomorrow. This past Friday evening, help the wonderful
privilege of sharing with Sheriff Togo at his swearing in ceremonial,
and I love this quote that was given by him.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
This is one of his favorite quote. True greatness is.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Not where you are today, but where you intend to
be tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Sheriff.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Thank you so very much, man, and I want you
to know Brown is with your because we want to
make all of our tomorrow Brider, even with you at
the ham Brown, I believe that what has happened, y'all
we have lost hope for tomorrow or what is hope?
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Well? I love what hope for Mississippi says.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Hope is knowing your tomorrow will be right than today
and you have a part in making it.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
So.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Hope requires a goal, a passway, torp the goal, and
the will power to move that tow up that goal.
Hope without goals, pathways and will power is just a
wish and satin that too many people have lost hope
for a better tomorrow. I was in a store um
(06:25):
this week and I was checking out. Young man was
checking out checking me out, and I asked him.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
I said, hey, am you excited about the new year?
Speaker 2 (06:35):
He's a not really, He's just the same old, same old.
But y'all, I disagree. I believe that when you know
Jesus Christ, your Twempter twenty four will be a lot
different than twemp Day twenty three. When you believe Christ.
I'm here to tell you every day with Jesus get
sweeter than the day before. I refuse to let baggers
(06:59):
from twenty ten one to three mess up my twump
to twentp to four because greater is coming my way.
He has made me the head and not the tail.
And I believe God's favor.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Is sweeter even on tomorrow. And that's what I want
to hang my hat on that.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Since Jesus in charge changes everything, let him take control.
Since Jesus in charge changes ever rip thing. You want
me to tell you what's some of your problems. You
got your hands on the wheel. You've been trying to maneuver,
You've been trying to manipulate. You've been trying to control
(07:39):
things and handle things all by yourself.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
I'm here to tell you let it go. Let it go.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
That hard headed child, let let it let him go,
that that spouse to wanna hat right, Just let him go. Look,
I'm here to tell you you need to put Jesus
in charge. Off every red thing. You put Jesus in charge.
I told you a few some days ago, get shoose
some awe began to annoyed, began to call on the
name of Jesus, over yourself, over your family, put Jesus
(08:09):
in charge, because to read it they have verse three.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
No longer will there be a curse.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Upon anything, for the throne of God and of the
Lamb will be there, and his servants will worship him.
John Revelation, Chapter twenty one. He saw a new heaven.
He saw a new Earth, and the one that sat
on the throne.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Revelation twenty one, Verse five. God says, look, I am
making everything new.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Then he said, to mean, write this down, for what
I tell you is trustworthy and truth. And so what
is it that gives me hope for eternity? To what
is it that gives me hope for tomorrow? I'm glad
y'all ask y'all asked such good questions on the last
Sunday of the year. The throne, the throne, I call
this his worship, the Throne. Do you see what is
(09:06):
center stage? Brothers and sister, Revelation twenty two, verse three.
No longer will there be a curse upon anything, For
the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there.
The throne is center stage in heaven. The throne speaks
(09:28):
of God's sovereignty. It speaks of the fact that Jesus
is in charge.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
And when we.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Put Jesus in charge, worship will become a priority. Ain't
that something, y'all? That in heaven they worship the Lord.
Worship is a priority. Over and over again, we kept
reading it in revelation, they would fall down and worship God.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
They will lift their voice and worship God. Oh brothers
and sisters.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
I pray that in twenty to four we will make
worship a priority. Stop putting the worship on the back burner.
Stop only coming to church when you feel like. You
ought to come when you got aheadache. You ought to
come when you're broke. You ort to come when you're
feeling your words. We ought to come when it seemed
like the bottom have fallen out in your life.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
Make worship a priority.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Matter of fact, you ought to say, Like David said,
I was glad when they said, unto me, let us
go into the House of the Lord.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
When Jesus is in.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
Charge, worship becomes a priority.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Not only will worship become a priority.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
When Jesus is in charge, worship becomes a pleasure.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Worship becomes pleasure.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
I hope I'm not the only one, but but adnybody
that remember when I used to worship because I had
to worship anybody else was in that camp. I used
to worship God because I had to worship God.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
What you mean you had to worship God.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
I grew up seventy five seventy twenty road, right up
the street from here, in Willie James and lod Ring House.
And what my mom and daddy told me, as long
as you eating in my house, living under my roof, wearing.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
My clothes, look, you gonna do what we sayedan do.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
And so when Sunday morning came, it wasn't what I
felt like.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
It wasn't I'm.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Gonna sleep in. It wasn't I'm gonna catch it now.
It was you gonna get up early. Matter of fact,
they made us take our bath on Saturday night, eying
our clothes and what set out our shoe because on
Someday morning and we couldn't get up doing nothing but
just putting clothes on and.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Coming to church.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
I used to worship because I had to worship. Ooh,
but let me tell you, I've been young and now
I'm old, and I don't worship because I have to
worship him. But I worship because I want to worship him.
(12:08):
Worship is a pleas of mine when I think about
how good God's been, When I look back over my
life and see where God brought me from, you talk
about worshiping him, I'm excited, Brothers and sisters. I get
up early on a Someday morning in order to get
ready to.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
Come to the house of the Lord. I'm the reason
why I.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Worship him so, y'all, is because the Bible say that
his name is written on my forehead. I belong to him.
I'm not my own, but I've been bought with the prist.
I've been purchased with the blood of Jesus Christ.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
And if the.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Lord can wake me up, stay by day, if he
can give me strengthen my body and breath in my body, surely,
when Jesus is in charge, worship will become a pleasure.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
That's why I pity folks.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
When we were shouting I'm here to some of you.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Sophisticated, said, did he.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Baptist folks didn't take all of that, doesn't take all
of that. And yet last night I saw some of
y'all with twenty three seconds on the game.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Folks all up in the stairs.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
And if they can praise and act like that with
some folks running a football up and down the team.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Don't you tell me what I can't run and do.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Worship becomes a pleasure, what ship becomes a priority.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
But when Jesus is in.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Charge, worship will be our privilege. When you put Jesus
in charge, you understand something. The Right of hebrew says,
we can come boldly before the throne of God and
we can.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Find the grace that we need. It's a privilege.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins
and griefs to bear. What a privilege it is to
carry every thing to God in prayer. All brothers and sisters,
there is hope for them tomorrow because Jesus is still.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
On the throne.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
So here's what the Lord is saying to us this
one and brown. Let Jesus control your agenda.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Let Jesus control your agenda.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Some of us are already are making plans for twenty
twenty four. You already got your pursuits, You already got
your resolution, your goal, and what.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
It is that you want to do.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
But I dare you to back up a little bit,
and I dare you to say, not my will, but
thy will be done.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
I dare you to say, Jesus, I was care.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Image after your likeness in order to bring glory to
your name. So I'm gonna let you control my agenda.
I'm gonna let you set my schedule. I'm gonna let
you direct my life. I'm gonna let you be the
lord sovereign over my life. The throne, the throne, the
throne his worship. Let Jesus control you agenda. But not
(15:21):
only the throne, y'all, but the truth. I got hopeful
tomorrow because of the truth. I call this his word,
his word. Revelation twenty two, verse six. Then the angel
said to me, everything you have heard and seen is
trustworthy and true.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
The Lord God, who.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Inspires his prophet, has sent his angels to tell his
servants what will happen.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Soon heaven and earth will pass away.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
But Jesus said, my word will stand forever, Oh brothers
and sisters, When we put Jesus in charge, can I
tell you what would happen? We will believe his word.
When you put Jesus in charge, we believe his word.
We don't doubt his word, We don't discredit his word.
(16:09):
We don't try to come up with something that tried
to say that the word didn't happen.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Now, when Jesus is in charge, you believe his word.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
If his word said there is no other way giving
under heaven and n and there's no other name given
on the heaven and earth whereby men might be saved
except the name of Jesus, I believe his word. Jesus
is the only way to God. He said, I am
the Way, the Truth, am the life. No man come
up to the Father but by him.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
I believe his word.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Let me tell your young folks, you can't believe what
you see on social media. Matter of fact, some of
y'all need to stop putting your name on everybody else.
Just because you read about what somebody said about somebody,
those same folks will put a lie out on you.
But I'm here to tell you you can believe the
word of God.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
He said his word is true, true and trustworthy.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
But and all that, when you put Jesus in charge,
you believe his word.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
When you put Jesus in.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Charge, you behave according to his word. When you put
Jesus in charge, Brothers and sister, you just ain't reading
words from a pasion that's going in one ear and
after the other. But when Jesus is in charge, you
put the word into practice.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Verse nine. He said, no, don't worship me.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
I'm a servant of God, just like you and your
brothers and the prophets, as well as all who there
it is.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Obey what is written in this book. Worship only God.
If ever there was a time round, it is now.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
We can't think like, talk like, look like, act like,
cus like the world. We need to behave, accord him.
To the word of God. Something ought to be different
about your life. You ought to look different. You ought
to have a joy in your heart, a smile on
your faith, and people ought to be able to tell
(18:02):
them that you are a child.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Of the King.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
When Jesus is put in charge, we not only will
behave according to his word, believe his word. When Jesus
is in charge, we are blessed by his word. We
are blessed by his word. Revelation, chapter twenty two, Verse seven.
I told y'all, I just want to read as much
as Revelation, because Revelation said, if you read it, you're blessed.
(18:27):
If you obey it, you're blessed. If you're listening to it,
you're blessed. Revelation twenty two, verse seven. Look, I am
coming soon. Blessed are those who obey the words.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
Are prophesying written in this book. We are blessed by
his word.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
That's why, at the end of the day, I'm not
concerned about Pennsylvania Avenue. I'm not all tired up about
what's happening on Wall Street.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
At the end of the day, I know I'm blessed.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
I'm blessed by the word because the Lord said, look,
when you put me first, when you obey my word,
He said, I bless you in the city. I bless
you in the field. I bless your increase. I bless
your going out. I bless your coming in. I bless
your sitting down. I bless your uprising. Oh y'all, we
(19:19):
are blessed by his word.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
I'm blessed. I'm blessed.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Ayes I look around, man, I realize I'm blessed.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Put Jesus in Chosh, put Jesus in charge with the.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Truth of his words, simply says to this right here, Brown,
let Jesus.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Be your authority. Let Jesus be your authority.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
In other words, let Jesus control the standard of excellent.
Let Jesus be your stander of truth. Let Jesus be
your authority. We need something to measure our lives by.
We need a stand that, y'all to live up to,
to be governed by.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
And it is right here in the word of God.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
I got hope for tomorrow because his truth is still standing.
His throne is still there, and he's on the throne.
But then I got hope for tomorrow because of his trophies.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
I call this our works, y'all. Revelation twenty two, verse twelve.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
Lord says, I'm coming soon, bringing my reward with me
to repay all people according to their deeds.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Praise be to God.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
He's coming back, and he's coming with some rewards. He's
coming with some trophies. Doctor Herbert Brewster said, there's going
to be a payday someday. Aren't you glad that the
Lord got a prize waiting on us?
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Now? How do I get that trophy? Preacher? How how
do I get that trophy? I'm glad, y'all. Ask y'all,
y'all ask such a good question on the way you
can get this trophy? Y'all.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
First of all, we are washed by his blood you
want one of these rewards, You got to be washed
by his blood. That's what the word says Verse fourteen.
Blessed are those who wash their rose. They will be
permitted to enter through the gates of the city and
eat the fruit of the tree of life. What can
wash awigh my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
(21:34):
What can make men hold again? Nothing but the blood
of Jesus. Let me ask, y'all, on this last day
of the year, are you saved?
Speaker 3 (21:43):
Are you saved? Are you know that your business is
all fixed up?
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Have they been washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Have there been a time where you admit it that
you are a sinner? Believe in the redemptive work of
Jesus Christ on the cross and confessed him as Lord
and master of your life. All brothers and sisters, we
are washed bybe his blood, and our name has been
written in the Lamb Book of Life.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Praise me to God. We'll wash by his blood, y'all.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
But then these trophies remind us that we work for
the betterment of others. You want to get one of
these trophies, You can't be selfish.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
It can't always be about you.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Matter of fact, Chapter twenty two, verse three, No longer
will there be a curse upon anything, for the throne
of God of the Lamb will be there, and his
servants will worship him. Some translation and say his servants
will serve him. And the reason why is serve and
worship is the same word.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Oh brothers and sister, don't you.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
Know that your best worship of God is the service
that you.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Give to your fellow man.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
If I can help somebody as a pass along, if
I can cheer somebody with a word or song, if
I can show some by that that they are traveling wrong,
my living will not be in vain.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Only what you do for Christ will laugh. We work for.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
The batter met out somebody else. Don't walk by somebody
that's down without reaching down to lift them up. Don't
walk by somebody that is hurting without trying to do
something in order to help them with them. The trophies
remind us, y'all, that we win the best for our services.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
We win the best for our service.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
As Jesus said, I'm coming soon, and I got my
reward with me.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
I don't know what the crown is going to look like.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
I don't know what that prize is going to be
with old brothers and sisters.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
I just know he's coming.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
He's got it, and he says, I'm going to reward
folks according to what they have done. We win the best,
brothers and sisters, We win the best. Because I'm looking
for that day when I can read my title clear
to mentions in the sky, our bid farewell to ever recare.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
I wipe my weeping eye.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
I want to hear him say, servant, well done. And
so Jesus is saying, this morning, Brown, let Jesus control
your actions.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Let Jesus control your action.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
I'm working for a payday, and so let Jesus control
your action. Land, Jesus control what you do. Let Jesus
control what you say. Let Jesus control your action. Because
if you doom the right thing, if your treat folks right,
if you love your wife, love your husband at all,
brothers and sus, if you do the right thing, good God, Allmighty,
(24:37):
there's gonna be a payd.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Someday. The trophy. He's bringing them back. He's bringing them back.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
That's all I start about to tell you this morning, Brown,
since since the Lord is saying he'll change everything, who's
in charge, who's in charge of your life? Give the
master charge of your life. Give the master charge of
your life, right right there on the backyard.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
It's the Plan of salvation.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
I pray that not only will you read it, make
sure that you yourself to saved, but I pray that you
share it with somebody else. You ought to leave this
with a good tip when you go out to the
restaurant this week. Let somebody know that if you acknowledge
man's problem, if you accept God's only remedy, Jesus Christ,
(25:22):
if you give Jesus the charge of your life, even
the prayer is right there on the back Jesus will
change everything else.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
That's all I start about to tell you.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Let Jesus take charge, and he will change everything, everything everything.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Do you really mean everything?
Speaker 2 (25:45):
I really mean everything, Because when Jesus is in charge,
don't you know he'll even change your gratitude. He'll change
your gratitude. I call this the gold credit, brothers and sisters,
because when you're really put Jesus in charge, you will
give credit to whom credit is due. You won't ever
(26:05):
take the glory for yourself, but you'll let somebody know
where I am. He wrote me what I have, He
gave me what I know, He taught me. You'll give
the credit to God. You wanna carephoones, I picked myself
by my home food stripe.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
