Speaker 1 (00:01):
The staging area is the Valley of Armageddon, the Mount
of Slaughter, and they from there go to Jerusalem, surround
the city, and then the Lord appears. The battle will
be horrific and totally one sided.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Now here's the question, which side are you on?
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Christ or the Antichrist, the Lamb of God who takes
away the sin of the world, or the Beast from
the sea, the God who knows you by name, or
the beast who gives you a number?
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Whose side are you on?
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Jesus Christ is going to come ruling and reigning in
power and glory. Except for the doctrine of Salvation. It's
the most talked about doctrine and all of the Bible.
Now here's the question, are you ready for His second coming?
This is from his heart with Pastor Jeff Shreeve, and
(01:22):
in today's important but sobering lesson, he describes the battle,
the battle of Armageddon that will ensue at the glorious
second coming of Christ. The message today is entitled Worlds
at War and it's from the nine message series Future Shock.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
What in the world is.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Going on now? Today's lesson is the eighth of nine
messages from this series, and you can listen to the
ones you missed. When you go to fromisheart dot org

pree MP three of any broadcast as well as the
sermon notes from Pastor Jeff. Right now, open your Bible
to Revelation nineteen verses eleven through nineteen, and here's Pastor
(02:04):
Jeff with the message entitled World's at War.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
The scripture talks over and over and over and over
again about the fact that Jesus Christ is going to
come and rule and reign in power and great glory.
It is the most talked about doctrine in all of
the Bible, except for the doctrine of salvation. The doctrine
(02:29):
of salvation is spoken of more than any other doctrine.
And on the heels of that is the doctrine of
the second Coming of Jesus Christ. So we want to
look at this great event, the Battle of Armageddon slash,
the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we
want to look at it in terms of three acts.
Think of it as a drama that is unfolding before you.
(02:50):
And if you went to a play, you'd have act one,
Act two, and act three. So that's how we're going
to look at this great event the three act dramas.
So what happens at the Battle of Armageddon Act one?
The nations will come together to fight against Jerusalem. Zachariah
(03:13):
speaks a lot of the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
He says in.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Chapter fourteen, verse two, for I will gather speaking for
the Lord, for I will gather all the nations against
Jerusalem to battle. And then in Zachariah twelve three, and
all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.
Gathered against Jerusalem is what he is talking about. Revelation
sixteen fourteen says this, for they are demonic spirits performing signs,
(03:43):
who go abroad to the kings of the whole world
to assemble them for battle on the great day of
God the Almighty. And they assembled them at the place
that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. Our means mount Spaghetto
means slaughter. Armageddon is the mountain of Slaughter. That's the
(04:06):
staging area, that's where all the participants are going to gather.
The battle is going to take place in Jerusalem and
around the city of Jerusalem. And so that is the
scene and the setup in Act one Act two. The
heavens will open and Jesus Christ will return. Look at Revelations,
(04:33):
chapter nineteen. I'll begin reading. In verse eleven, John says this,
and I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse.
And he who sat upon it is called faithful and true.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
And in righteousness he judges and wages war. And his
eyes are a flame of fire. And upon his head
are many diadems. And he has a.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Name written upon him which no one knows except himself.
And he has clothed with a robe dipped in blood,
and his name is called the Word of God. He's
obviously speaking of the Lord Jesus Christ. And here comes
the Lord at the ninth hour, when everything seems all
(05:15):
hope seems lost, and Jerusalem is totally surrounded and besieged
by enemies, and they're just the light is getting ready
to be extinguished on the Lord's people and the Lord's promise.
At just that moment, the Bible says this, that the
the sun and the moon and the stars they quit
giving their light, and it turns pitch black, and there
(05:36):
comes a blazing light, and the Lord Jesus Christ returns,
and he, the.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Bible says, sets his.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Feet on the Mount of Olives, and that is going
to be one day covered in armies, armies, armies around this,
and Jesus comes back to the Mount of Olives. The
Bible says in Ezekiel that when the Lord comes back,
he comes back through the eastern gate that has been
(06:12):
walled up for.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Centuries and centuries. It lifts up its gates to welcome
the King of Glory. It's so exciting. I get excited
about it. He is faithful and true to keep his promises.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
And it says in verse thirteen he is clothed with
a robe dipped in blood, and the question is asked, well,
why are your clothes blood stain? He said, because I
have trodden the wine press alone, and the stains of
blood are upon my garments.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
He comes to wage war.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
There is fire in his eyes, and it says in
verse fourteen that there are armies with him, the armies
which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
We're following him on white horses.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Now, who are the armies that are referred to here?
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Somebody says, well, those must be angels. They are They
are holy angels that come with him. Second Thessalonians Chapter
one says this, the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from
heaven with his mighty angels, inflaming fire, dealing out retribution
to those who do not know God and to those
who do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(07:31):
The armies with him are angels, but they're not just angels.
In addition to the angels who come with Jesus, the
saints also come with Jesus. One Thessalonians, chapter three, verse thirteen,
at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.
(07:53):
Verse fourteen of Revelations Chapter nineteen speaks of angels, Yes,
but it speaks of saints. Now here's the thing about
the rapture. We go up to meet the Lord in
the air, before he ever breaks the seal on the
first seal of the seven seals of wrath, before he
(08:13):
ever blows one trumpet of the seven trumpets of wrath,
before he ever pours out one bowl of the seven
bowls of wrath. The Thessalonians and First Thessalonians Chapter one
and verse ten, they were waiting for the son who
would deliver them from the wrath to.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Come, and we go up to be with the Lord.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
And it says in First Thessalonians chapter four, and thus
shall we always be with the Lord.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
So anywhere he goes, we go because we're always going
to be with him. And when he comes back to judge,
we're with him. We're the armies.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
We're wearing clothes white and clean, and we travel on
white horses. And there's such a difference, such a difference
between what the Bible talks about in First Thessalonians chapter
four and what the Bible talks about here. See, there
are two phases of the coming of Jesus Christ. Now,
(09:10):
anybody who truly believes the Bible will have to say, well,
there is a some kind of gathering that's talked about
in First Thessalonians chapter four. In One Corinthians chapter fifteen,
there's a gathering there.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
The big question is when does that take place?
Speaker 1 (09:27):
What part of this tribulation period do you have this gathering?
But I want you to see that they're very, very different.
See the second coming, which is the rapture, the secret coming,
and then there's the second coming, the return. Two phases. Well,
the rapture is called the blessed Hope. The second coming
is called the day of vengeance of our God. The
(09:48):
rapture is a time of great joy. The second coming
is a time of great mourning.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
For Jesus said, or the scripture says in Revelation.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Chapter one and verse seven, that when he comes, every
eye is going to see him, and they will mourn
over him. Zachariah says, they'll mourn as losing a first born,
because the Jews will say, it was Jesus all along,
and we missed him, and they will mourn. They will
see him whom they have pierced, and they will mourn.
(10:18):
A time of great mourning. And the rapture. Jesus comes
in the air. At the second coming, he comes to
the earth.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
He sets his.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Feet down on the Mount of Olives. Jesus comes for
his bride. At the rapture. Jesus comes with his bride.
At the return, Jesus and his bride go to the
father's house. At the rapture, Jesus and his bride come
to the earth. At the second coming, the rapture is imminent.
That means it could happen at any moment. The second
(10:46):
Coming of Christ can't happen today. It can't happen until
the end of the tribulation period. It can't happen until
the Battle of Armageddon, until Act one is all in place.
But the message of scripture is be ready, be ready,
be ready, because you do not know when this is coming,
and that speaks of the rapture. The time is imminent.
(11:08):
Number seven, the Lord comes before the wrath of God,
that's the rapture. He saves us and delivers us from
the wrath of God. But at the Second Coming he
comes after the wrath of God, after the last bull
is poured out on this world. Number eight, Jesus comes
privately for his bride. The Second Coming, Jesus comes publicly
for all to see. Jesus himself calls forth his bride.
(11:32):
At the rapture, the angels gather his elect from the
four corners. It says in Matthew chapter twenty four. The
tribulation follows the Rapture. The millennial reign follows the Second Coming,
the thousand year reign of Christ. Satan reaks havoc on
the earth after the rapture. Satan is bound four thousand
years after the Second Coming, and the bride has given
(11:53):
a glorified body. At the rapture, and saints are in
human bodies at the second Coming of Christ. Now, that's
a really strong piece of evidence that you don't have
the rapture come at the second Coming.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
See, some people like to put those together.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
They say, yes, the Lord comes down to the earth,
and that's at the second Coming, and the rapture and
the second Coming happen at the same time. And so
you have the heaven's open, and the Lord comes, and
then we go up to see him, and then we
come right back down to the earth with him, which
means that, well, why didn't we just let him come
all the way down? Why did we go up so
we could go down together? It doesn't make sense. And
(12:31):
the second thing is at the rapture, we're glorified, we're made,
we're giving bodies like him so that we can enjoy heaven,
so that we can enjoy the marriage Supper of the Lamb. Now,
if the rapture took place at the Second Coming, if
those were at the same time, and all Christians were
(12:54):
glorified at that time and given glorified bodies when you
go into the Kingdom, the millennial reign of Christ, that
thousand year reign of Christ on the earth there would
not be any people born, because everybody who is a
believer would already be glorified, and glorified saints don't have kids,
so those have to be separate events in my mind
(13:18):
the way I see it, and I believe that the
rapture comes before the tribulation period. So Act one, everybody gathers.
The staging area is the Valley of Armageddon, the Mount
of Slaughter, and they from there go to Jerusalem, surround
the city, and then the Lord appears.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
That's Act two, and then Act three.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
The battle will be horrific and totally one sided. Look
at verse nineteen, and I saw the beasts and the
kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make
war against him who sat upon the horse, and against
his army. So they're all assemboled to destroy Jerusalem.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
But then this event happens.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Everything turns dark, and there's this blazing light across the sky,
and the Lord comes back. Whether he is really riding
a white horse, we don't know. That could just be
symbolic of victory. But he comes back and he sets
his feet on the Mount of Olives, and his armies,
dressed in white robes, white and clean, are with him.
You and I are with him, and the Holy Angels
(14:33):
are with him. And then all of a sudden, Antichrist
and all his forces they quit looking at Jerusalem, and
they turn their tanks and their guns and their bombs.
They turn all those weapons of mass destruction upon the Lord.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
And that sets up this battle. What's going to happen.
It's a total wipeout.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
The Lord defeats them with the power of his word,
it says in verse fifteen. And from his mouth comes
a sharp sword, so that with it he may smite
the nations, and he will rule them with a rod
of iron.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
And he treads the wine.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Press of the fierce wrath of God the Almighty. And
on his robe and on his thigh he has a
name written King.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Of Kings and Lord of Lords. He comes, and.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
They turned their artillery against him. What does he do?
He just speaks a word. The sharp sword that goes
out of his mouth slays them. You know, we have
a picture of that in the Gospel accounts. In the
Gospel of John, when Jesus was praying in the garden
of Gath Simone and Judas, who is a picture.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Of the Antichrist.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
He leads a group of soldiers to arrest Jesus, and
Jesus knows that they're coming.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
And Jesus comes out to them and says, whom do
you seek?
Speaker 1 (16:07):
And they said, we seek Jesus of Nazareth, and he says,
I Am. And the scripture says they drew back, and
they fell on their face, they fell.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
To the ground.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
He just said, I am ago Ami in the Greek.
And they fell to the ground before the Great I Am. Listen,
you don't arrest the Great I Am unless he.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Allows you to do it.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
There's a man who calls himself the atheist Messiah. His
name is Darwin Bedford. He has a website, I kid
you not. His website is this if Jesus returns, kill
him again dot com.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
And there's some people who.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Think that they can go up against Almighty God and
we can defeat him. And the devil thinks I can
get enough together and we can defeat him.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
And what does he do. He just speaks a word.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
And the same word that spoke them into existence will
speak them into oblivion. And the carnage is beyond comprehension.
Now what happens, it says in verse twenty. And the
beast was seized, and with him the false prophet, who
performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived
(17:34):
those who had received the mark of the Beast, and
those who worshiped his image.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
These two were thrown.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Alive into the lake of fire, which burns with brimstone.
The Lord comes after those two, the beast from the sea,
who we know is Antichrist, the false King. He grabs him,
and he grabs the false Prophet, who is a picture
of the false Holy Spirit. You have the false Christ, Antichrist,
and anti Holy Spirit. He grabs them, and he throws
(17:59):
them aliveh into.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
The lake of fire.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
And then he wipes out with a sharp sword that
goes from his mouth. He wipes out everyone else, just
through the power of his word.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
And how bad is it?
Speaker 1 (18:15):
It says in Revelation, chapter nineteen, verse seventeen, and I
saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried
out with a loud voice, saying, to all the birds
which fly in mid heaven, come assembol for the Great
Supper of God, in order that you may eat the
flesh of kings, and the flesh of commanders, and the
flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and
of those who sit on them, and the flesh of
(18:36):
all men, both free men.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
And slaves, and small and great.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
There is going to be a supper for the birds.
And the imagery that's used to describe the lord's victory
is like smashing grapes. It's a picture of the lord
coming into a trough filled with grapes, and he just
treads on his enemies. Why is his garment splattered and
(19:05):
dipped in blood because of the blood of his enemies
splashing up on his war garments, it says in Revelations
chapter fourteen and verse twenty. And the wine press was
trodden outside the city, and blood came out from the
wine press up to the horses bridles for a distance of.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Two hundred miles.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
You know, the scripture talks about in Revelation chapter nineteen
that there's going to be an army from the east
numbering two hundred million. You know, the Chinese boasts that
they have an army of two hundred million, And so
you couple the army from the East with the other
armies of the world, there are going to be hundreds
of millions of people.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
There are soldiers there to.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Fight against Israel and Jerusalem, and then to fight against
the Lord, and he wipes them out, and the carnage
is so great that the blood is splattering up four
and a half feet to the bridles of the horses
for distance of two hundred miles. And the Satanic Trinity
is crushed because the beast and the false prophet are
(20:08):
thrown into the Lake of fire. And then it says
in Revelation chapter twenty that he sends out his angel,
and the Angel grabs the drag and the serpent of old,
who is called the devil and Satan, and bound him
for a thousand years in the abyss, which is the
bottomless pit, which is the holding place, which is the
jail cell for demons. And then the Lord begins his
(20:32):
kingdom to rule and reign from Jerusalem, which will be called,
according to Zachariah, the City of Truth, because Jesus is
the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He sets up
his kingdom in Jerusalem, and he'll rule and reign for
one thousand years.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
And oh what a kingdom that will be there. You
have it.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
That's what happens at the Battle of Armageddon. That's what
happens when the king returns the second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Now here's the question as we close out, which side
are you on? Christ or the Antichrist, the Lamb of
(21:16):
God who takes away the sin of the world, or
the Beast from the sea, the God who knows you
by name, or the beast who gives you a number?
Speaker 2 (21:26):
Whose side are you on?
Speaker 1 (21:29):
You know, we live in a world today where so
many people come to church Sunday after Sunday after Sunday,
and their commitment to the Lord is a lot like
the Doobie Brothers, and they just have this as their
theme song. Well, you know, Jesus is just alright with me.
I don't have any beef with Jesus. He's all right
with me. Jesus said, he who is not with me
(21:51):
is against me. You can't go have an attitude toward
the Lord. That's just this neutral stance. You're Switzerland and
you're just saying, well, you know, I'm not against him.
I'm not against anybody. I'm for Jesus. And what about
the Beast, Well, you know, he's not the best guy
I've ever heard of. But you know, I don't want
to I don't want to rock the boat on anything.
You gotta make a decision. Pal, You got to decide,
(22:16):
because neutral you cannot be.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
There's no middle ground.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
You either choose for the Lord Jesus Christ, or you're
going to be left out of the Kingdom of His
blessings of his grace.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
So choose wise.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
