Speaker 1 (00:01):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
When you become spiritually dark and sexually immoral and devian,
you become socially depraved. What happens, The righteous wrath of
God comes upon those who say audios to Him, who
put Him in the rear view mirror. God hates sin,
hates it when it's in my life. He hates it when.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
It's in your life.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
God loves sinners. Aren't you glad? God hates sin. God
loves sinners, and God responds to repentance.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
With real truth, real from his home.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
As you have no doubt noticed, times are changing rapidly,
and furthermore, they don't appear to be changing well do they.
Why have morality and spirituality in our society and in
such bad shape? The Bible says, we're in the shape
we're in because we've left God in the rear view mirror.

(01:08):
When a society does that, puts God out of their
sight and driving away from Him as fast as they can,
which our nation is doing now, then we're in for
some pretty terrible trouble. This is from his heart with
Pastor Jeff Shreeve, and today we'll be in part two
of his message. He started last time, called God in

(01:29):
the rearview mirror. It's from the nine message in Times
series Future Shock. What in the world is going on now?
We're in this series all month long with Insid's warnings
and encouragement to help us see what's happening in our
world in light of biblical prophecy, and to help us
all prepare emotionally, mentally, and spiritually to be good soldiers

(01:52):
in the fight and be a light for as long
as we have breath. If you can't be with us
for the entire lesson today or for the entire series
this month, you can listen to it once it's already aired.
When you go to fromishart dot org, click the radio
tab Now though, open your Bible to the first chapter
of the Book of Romans. This pastor Jeff Shreeb explains

(02:14):
the dire consequences of putting God in your rear view mirror.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
I want to share with you four devastating consequences when
a society says adios to God. Consequence Number one, the
people become spiritually darkened. Look at verse twenty one again,
for even though they knew God, they did not honor
him as God or give thanks. But they became futile

(02:41):
in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. The
word for dark there is to cover with darkness. So
you move from light to darkness, you move from wisdom
to foolishness, and you move from God to idols.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Look what it says in verse twenty three.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Professing to be wise, they became rules and exchanged the
glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the
form of corruptible man, and of birds and four footed
animals and crawling creatures. Hey, professing to be wise, they
became fools. So they become spiritually darkened. What else happens,

(03:20):
they become sexually immoral. Now, something that's important to remember
here is we get the idea that man has evolved
because we're taught that, and we hear that, and then
you're you know, you're considered an idiot if you don't
believe in evolution, if you don't believe in the equation
nobody times nothing equals everything. Well, gosh, how stupid are you?

(03:42):
We all agreed zero times zero equals zero. I asked you,
anybody want to give another answer? Nobody gave another answer.
But when you put it in those terms, nobody times
nothing equals everything, and there's like, yeah, well that happens.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
It doesn't happen. It doesn't happen. So here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Man is not evil getting better and better and better
and better, you know from the slime. He's moved his
way up. Man is devolving. He's getting worse and worse
and worse and worse. Why did the people in the
Old Testament live to be so long before the flood?

Speaker 1 (04:18):
I mean, we don't live like that anymore, do we No?

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Because man is devolving, he's not evolving. And worship didn't
start out with cave men who are worshiping idols that
somehow moved up and said, oh, now there's a God
and we worship this God above who his name is Yahweh.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
That's not how it started.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
God made man in his image, and man started out
worshiping God, and then he rejected God and went his
own way. And then man began to worship four footed
animals and crawling creatures and those kinds of things. It's
a devolution, not an evolution. So they become from spiritual
darkness to sexual in world.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Look at verse twenty four.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Because man wants to get away from God and doesn't
want to worship God. Therefore, God gave them over in
the lusts of their hearts to impurity, that their bodies
might be dishonored among them. Here's a picture of society,
especially America.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Here's God.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
It's like a man taking his dog for a walk.
He's got his dog on a leash.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
And that dog is pushing against the leash.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
He's wanting to go in a direction where the master
doesn't want him to go, and that dog is pushing
and pushing and pushing and pushing and pulling against that leash.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
I want to go here, I want to go here.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
And God is gracious and kind and gentle and patient.
But eventually God just says, all right, that's the direction
you want to go, and he unhooks the leash.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Have at it.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
God gave them over to impurity.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
God let them go in the way they wanted to go.
God wasn't going to fight them anymore on that. You
want to go that way, you don't. You want to
leave me, You want to leave the light and go
into what you think is light, but it's really darkness.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Then go ahead, And that's what happens, and they go
from spiritual darkness to sexual immorality. We live in a
world today of tremendous sexual immorality and impurity. That word
impurity means physical and moral uncleanness. Did you know in
America today there are almost seven hundred and fifty thousand

(06:28):
registered sex offenders, seven hundred and fifty thousand. But there's
just a giving over of sexual immorality. Now you mark
it down fornication and adultery, those two cents, they're just
rampant all over the land.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Rampant.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
It's like, no big deal to have sex before you're married,
no big deal to cheat in your marriage.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Let me tell you, it's a big deal to God.
It's a big deal to God.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
But here are some other statistics that are very concerning.
Forty seven percent of high school students will have sex
before they get out of high school. Thirty four percent
of high school students are sexually active. Over fifty percent
of couples are living together. Marriage is on an all

(07:15):
time low because couples just live together and they don't
think anything of it. And honestly, some we find some
that come to church they don't even know it's wrong.
I mean they do deep down, but they don't hear
much about it being wrong.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
It used to be everybody knew that that was wrong.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Man. When I was a kid growing up, everybody knew, Hey,
you didn't do that. Now, some people did it, but
you weren't supposed to do it, and you sure weren't
proud about it. You weren't excited about it. If you
did that, It's like being on food stamps. You didn't
brag about it. You were ashamed of and you try
to get.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Off of that. But not today. Well, we think it's
just great.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
You know.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
There is a website and here's their tagline. They Encourage
a And here is their tagline. It says life is short,
Have an affair, and it says this we are the
world's leading married dating service for discreet encounters.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Can you imagine that's your business to help people who
are married hook up with.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Other people to commit adultery. You're in the adultery business. Wow.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Hey, God's word is clear Hebrews thirteenth, verse four. Let
marriage be held in honor among all, and let the
marriage bed be undefiled for fornicators those who are having
sex and there are not married, and adulterers those who
are married but are having sex with somebody who's not
their marriage partner. For fornicators and adulterers, God will judge,

(08:47):
not there's no.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Kind of well, I don't know really what he means
by that. I know what he means by that.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
For fornicators and adulterers, God will judge. That should put
the fear of God into everyone's heart.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
You know, here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
The Bible says an Ecclesiastes, because the sentence against an
evil deed is not executed quickly, the hearts of the
sons of men among them are given fully to do evil.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
What would it be.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Like if every time someone committed adultery or fornication they
died on the spot. You think they'd have the website
life is short, Have an affair. You want life to
be short, Have an affair. I mean, if God, we're
going to do that, right, Life is really short for
you to be your last Hurrah. But we don't think
of it as well a God's He's just a merciful God,

(09:34):
and he understands I can't help this, and you know,
I'm a man and.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
I just have needs.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
And God doesn't understand that. I mean, he understands that
we struggle with sin. The Lord has been tempted in
all things as we are, yet without sin. He doesn't
understand an attitude that just says to God, will I
can do whatever I want because you're forgiving. God doesn't
work that way. Paul said, shall we continue in sin
that grace may abound? God forbid that? What a ghastly thought.

(10:01):
We don't do that. So adultry and fornication are rampant.
And how about the other sexual sin that's so rampant
in our society today, homosexuality.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Verse twenty five.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
It says, for they exchange the truth of God for
a lie, and worshiped and serve the creature rather than
the Creator, who is blessed forever.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
Amen.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
For this reason, God gave them over to degrading passions.
For their women exchange the natural function for that which
is unnatural, that which is against nature. And in the
same way, also the men abandoned the natural function of
the women and burned in their desire toward one another
men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their
own persons the due penalty of their error. You know,

(10:44):
just those verses that I read. Some people would say,
you can't say that, that's hate speech. That's the word
of God. That's from a God who loves people. That's
from a God who's calling out to people who have
left him in the rear view mirror.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Come back. You're going off a cliff.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
And homosexuality in our world today is being normalized and
championed as that is right and that is the.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Way, and everybody better get on board. And if you.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Don't get on board, we're gonna come down on you
like a hammer. We're gonna shut you up, and we're
going to come after your business and we're going to
destroy you.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
We've seen it.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Sweet Cakes by Melissa the bakery in Oregon kindly told
a lesbian couple that they couldn't do their wedding because
that would violate their conscience, and they were vilified and
they were verbally brutalized. They were recently ordered by the

(11:44):
court to pay these two women one hundred and thirty
five thousand. Melissa and her husband have five children. They're
not a bank, they're not made of money. They don't
just have pull out one hundred and thirty five thousand
dollars drawer. Okay, we'll pay them off. They had to
shut down their busin business. They got letters and emails

(12:04):
like this one, you stupid Bible thumping, hypocritical blank, I
hope your kids get really, really sick and you go
out of business. And another said, here's hoping you go
out of business, you bigot. Enjoy Hell and Melissa or
a husband are the haters.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
And now, wow, what's up with that?

Speaker 2 (12:25):
I lovingly tell you I can't do that, And all
of a sudden, now I'm a terrible, horrible person who
hates listen. So true, right is right even if nobody's
doing it, and wrong is wrong even.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
If everybody is doing it.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
If you talk about homosexuality today, people instantly say you're
a hater. People instantly get upset, and you can't even.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Talk about it.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
One pastor wrote an article and he said, you know
that what he sees in the churches today is so
many church, especially the churches in big metropolitan areas that
are attracting lots and lots of people and have thousands
and thousands of people that come, they're going to have
an mc hammer approach to this issue.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
Can't touch that, can't touch that. I mean, I'm not
going to.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Talk about that because that could offend somebody out there
and somebody has that situation going on in his life,
and some mom has a son like that, and some
dad has a daughter like that, and they're going to
get upset if I talk about it, and so can't
touch that. I'm just not going to talk about it.
Everybody else is talking about it out.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
In the world.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
It's the hottest social topic around, but we're not going
to talk about it in the church because you might
offend somebody. I like what Franklin Graham said. He said, listen,
he said. God makes it clear if you give yourself
over to any kind of sin, any kind of sexual sin,
any kind of idolatry, whatever it is, that you have
to turn around from that.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
And if you don't turn around from that, it.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Says in First Corinthians, chapter six that you will not
inherit the kingdom of God. Anybody who would champion and
cheer as somebody is on the highway to hell.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
That person is a hater because you're a lover.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
If you tell people, hey, you need to turn around,
God will forgive you. God will change it. You need
to come back to God. That's what needs to happen
in our world today. That's what needs to happen in
pulpits today. That's not hate speech. If you lovingly tell
people the truth, that's not hate speech. That is speaking
the truth in love. And we need to hear more
of that.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
The Bible says this concerning Sodom and Gomorrah, the place
that God destroyed by reducing them to ashes.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Peter says this in Second Peter, chapter two.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
And if God condemned the cities of in Gomorah to
destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an
example to those who would live on godly thereafter, God
is clear about that. We embrace this in like I
told you, hey, I don't care. Right is right even
if no one is doing it. Wrong is wrong, even
if everyone is doing it. And God says, if you

(15:08):
keep going the way of sexual immorality, you gut, I
let the dog go, and you go into all kinds
of impurity. You eventually hit a point where it's just
gonna be curtains. And God doesn't want that. He doesn't
want that, so they become sexually immoral. Thirdly, they become
socially depraved verse twenty eight. And just as they did

(15:29):
not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave
them over to a depraved mind to do those things
which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil,
full of envy, murder, strife, to see malice, their gossips,
slanderous haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil,
disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful WHOA twenty

(15:52):
one descriptors there. And although they know the ordinance of
God that those who practice such things are worthy of death,
they not only do the same, but also give hearty
approval to those who practice them.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
They stand in cheer when people practice them. Yeah, that's right,
that's right. Socially depraved.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
The word depraved there literally means to be disqualified, to
be worthless, not standing the tests. Now, when you say
I don't want you anymore, God, I don't You're not
I don't want to even retain you in my knowledge,
God gives you over to a depraved mind, to a

(16:33):
reprobate mind, to a worthless mind. You can't even think
right anymore, and the world turns upside down on you.
Someone as well said as society that casts God out
becomes an outcast society. And that's what's happening today. You
cast God out. See God, God's in your rear view mirror.
What's going to happen to you as a society, to

(16:56):
us as a society, not going to be pretty. Let
me tell you something. It mentions greed. In the list
that we read. It mentions murder. You saw our video
this morning about Choose life abortion in America, since the
nineteen seventy three decision Roe v. Wade, we have aborted

(17:18):
over fifty seven million babies in the womb.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Fifty seven million.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
It works out to be about one point three million
per year. If you take all of the wars in
American history, it ends up being about one point three
five million in one year. In America, we kill more
babies in the as many babies as of the womb
as all the soldiers who died in American history.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
That is mind boggling.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Fifty seven million, we're approaching sixty million. Hitler killed six
million Jews, where we've almost done ten times that with
innocent little babies. Do you think God doesn't notice that you?
What do you think God thinks about that? You know,
in the Old Testament, king Manassa. He worshiped all sorts
of foreign gods, and he was such a wicked king.

(18:10):
He ended up getting his life right with the Lord later.
But he would take his children and the children in Israel,
the little babies, and he would sacrifice them in the
fire to the false god Mulek, the god of the Ammonites.
And God took note of that, and God said, judgment
is coming on Jerusalem because of Manassa, and because of

(18:31):
what he did. In America today, study said eighty six
percent of the women and girls that have abortions, eighty
six percent said they did it for convenience, the God
of convenience, fifty seven million babies. Wow, it's mind boggling,

(18:52):
it's heartbreaking.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
God sees that.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Listen, when you become spiritually dark and sexually immoral and deviant,
come socially depraved, what happens a society like that becomes
recipients of the Lord's wrath. For the wrath Verse eighteen
of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth. In unrighteousness, the wrath,

(19:16):
the righteous wrath of God comes upon those who say Audios,
to him who put him in the rear view mirror.
God hates sin, he hates it, hates it when it's
in my life. He hates it when it's in your life.
As I was studying for this message, I was thinking
about verse eighteen, for the wrath of God is revealed.
That word revealed means to be uncovered. It means to

(19:38):
be unleashed. God unleashes his wrath on ungodliness and on
the righteousness of men. And I was thinking in my
own heart, what kind of things do I allow to
get in my heart?

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Now?

Speaker 2 (19:49):
Listen, I don't struggle with same sex attraction, but many
people do. I tell you what though, And people say, well,
I was born that way. Well, I was born that
way too. I have a bent towards sin, and my
struggle may not be like your struggle, but I have
a struggle toward women, and I have to watch that
in me and so many men I know that is

(20:10):
their Achilles heel is. They are interested in women for
other people. It's money for other people, it's powerful other people.
It's same sex. But we're all broken. And God hates sin,
but God loves sinners.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Aren't you glad?

Speaker 2 (20:26):
The scripture says, if you Lord should mark integrity, Oh Lord,
who could stand?

Speaker 1 (20:29):
But there's forgiveness with you, that you may be feared.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
God hates sin God loves sinners, and God responds to repentance.
Jonah was given a message to go to the wicked
city of Ninevah, that terrible, horrible, wicked place, and declare
this message in Jonah chapter three. Yet forty days and
Ninevah will be destroyed. And when the people of Ninevah,

(20:56):
the capital city of the Assyrians, when they heard the message,
they reci responded to the message. And the king of
Nineveh got off his throne and he put on sackcloth
and ashes and commanded the people to fast and to pray,
and to cry out for mercy and to turn from
their evil ways. And the scripture says this, when God
saw their deeds and he saw the way they fasted,

(21:16):
and he saw the way they prayed, and he saw
the way they repented, God said, I will not do
what I said.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
I was going to do.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
And he relented concerning the evil that he was going
to bring upon them. What if we began a movement
where it says we're going to repent before God. We're
going to cry out to God and say, God, have
mercy on the sin in my heart.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
God, I've been walking away from you.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
I want to get back to where you are, and
I want to walk in the light as you yourself
are in the light.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
And Lord, do a work in.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Me and change this country through me, he responds. When
you and I repent, listen, I don't know where you are.
I don't know how mad you might be at this message.
I didn't say anything that wasn't in love. And I
don't want anyone to end up at the pigsty and

(22:08):
the next step from the pigsty as hell. And God
doesn't want that either. And the Lord says to a
people wandering away from him, return to me, and I
will return to you, says the Lord.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Time is now to get right with God.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
