Speaker 1 (00:22):
Welcome to Grace Grace with Nina Michelle. I'm Michelle Humphries.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
And I am Nina Keegan. Welcome to the broadcast today.
This is going to be part two. So if you
have missed part one, we are interviewing each other. Everybody
has written to us, and people have always asked how
we met, how we started to do what we're doing,
how we got saved. There's so many questions, and so
we are interviewing each other and so it is my

(00:47):
turn to ask the questions.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
And so it's kind of scary.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
And so we know that here you are, you're doing
all these amazing things in ministry. People I don't know
if they know that you work for the fr see
you have worked for Pat Robertson over at CBN, that
you are you have grace, grace, that you're doing so
many things for the Lord. And you got saved as
a very small child, and so do you want to

(01:14):
talk about that? But your your childhood was a little
crazy like mine. So we tell us a little bit
about that.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
You know, it is it is difficult sometimes to talk about,
you know, your childhood when when there was so much
pain involved, and you know, I was I was desperate
for God almost from birth.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
I mean, I just remember my my parents.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Were partiers and my dad had a great job and
he ended up having his own company, so he was
partier with money and he was they were they really
they dabbled in darkness. Whether they realized it or not.
I don't think they understood what they were doing.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
They were not mean.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Parents at all, and I knew I was loved, so
there was a lot to be There's a lot to
be said for you can make a lot of errors
at raising children, but if they know that they're loved,
you know, there can be healing from that alone. But
the darkness that I felt as a small child, I

(02:19):
remember thinking.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Oh, what, how, how do you know?

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Like, how do I get out of this? It's like
it was like a trap almost. I did have a
really good extended family, and so I had a wonderful grandparents.
And the wonderful thing about one set of my grandparents
is that they got saved in their mid forties, and
so they had already raised their children, so it was

(02:47):
kind of like too late for them. They had four
children and now they were praying for them to be saved,
and they were praying for us to be saved.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
And so I can attest.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
I am the example of what happens when grandparents pray
and they don't have any reach, you know, And.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Now we are grandparents.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yes we know what gand and it madere's the difference,
and thank God for my grandparents. On one side, I
had a little grandma that was just my best friend
and my first best friend, and I spent a lot
of time with her, but she was not saved. And
then on the other side, I had my saved grandparents.
And what the biggest thing that happened to me as

(03:29):
a child was we moved across the street from a
couple and their four children, and their names were Bill
and Ramona Hulkem And they'll forever be in my hall
of faith because you know, although you know, my family
was across the street partying, and you know, I mean

(03:51):
they would have some crazy parties and I was in
the house, Bill and Ramona Hulcom were across the street
praying from my parents and praying for me. Yeah, they
understood that my brother and I were probably in danger
to be in that kind of environment because they understood
spiritually what must have been happening in the household. And

(04:13):
so in fact, miss Ramona now has said, you know,
I remember standing in the yard with my hands out
towards your house.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
It's not amazing. God always sends, doesn't he. He sends
the people that don't even you have no idea, even
until later in life. It's always somebody was praying for you.
Somebody was lifting you up in prayer. It's amazing the
power of prayer. Never give up. If you're praying for somebody,
just never give up. God will send armies. God will
send people, the neighbors. The neighbors He sent them.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
If ever anybody was sent to me, it was Bill
and Ramona holkeme. And they invited me to church, and
they invited me to this little children's camp. And I
went to this camp and went with their daughter who
was three years older than me. And I was actually
technically three years too young to be there. And somehow

(05:10):
I got in, thank God, because I had an appointment
with Jesus. And I really hadn't heard the gospel like
this like I heard there. And the first day that
I was there, I heard a sermon called Jesus stands
at the door of your heart, and he knocks, and
if any man opens the.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Door, he will come in. It's up with you. And
you know, I had been grown.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
I grew up in an Italian family, and so I
got sup. You know, we had big Italian dinners and
we had all the family there.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
And thank God for extended family, you know, and.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Thank God for the village that it took to raise me,
you know, and I feel sorry for people who don't
have that. And so so anyway, I understood SUP, and.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
I didn't have the guts.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
I was very, very shy, and I did not have
the guts to go down to the altar like they wanted.
So the next day I got uh, my neighbor Kathy,
the Bill and Romona's daughter got hurt and so she
had to go home, and Bill and Ramona came in
picked her up, and they looked at me and they said,

(06:19):
are you coming? And I knew I wasn't saved, and
I don't know, I just couldn't leave.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
That always amazes me for how old you were that you.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Knew that you needed to stay, because most kids, if
you would have thought about that, being a seven year old,
would have thought, I got to go. These people are
I don't know anybody I'm a little bit like.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
There was such a draw the Lord on your I.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Really didn't care. I really wanted to.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
I wanted Jesus and I wanted I knew I needed him.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
That's amazing. That's a lot for a child.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
But it had to be the Holy Spirit.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
And so, you know, five days of that camp by myself,
and every night, you know, they would say, come down
to the altar, and every night I would wimp out,
and I, you know, was just I could feel the draw.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
I know what it means.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
It says that no man comes to the Father unless
I draw him. I felt it like a magnet. And
that on the last night, Thank God, this scripture still
drives my life today. It says, if you are ashamed
of me before men, I will be ashamed of you
before my Father in Heaven.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
And so the preacher said that, and I got up.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
I got up from the back of that little chapel
and I walked to the front, and I met Jesus
at the.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Altar, and I haven't never been the same. I'd be
never like he has been so real.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
I didn't know anything about theology or the Word or anything,
but I knew Jesus and I just knew everything was
going to be all right.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
You know, and it's not again, like your life changes,
like all the bad stuff goes away, but now you
have Him in the midst of it all. And we're
going to talk more about that when we come right back.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
Now, welcome back.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
You're watching Grace Grace with Nina m Michelle, and I
am interviewing Michelle, and we are talking about how she
got saved, and she was just telling us all of that.
So you got saved at the church, and then how
was that?

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Now you're going home to a family who's not.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Saved, right, So that was interesting because I when I
got home, you know, I was so excited. I had
the joy of the Lord. I didn't know I had
the joy of the Lord. I just was super happy
and just went to tell my mom, you know, hey, Mom, I.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Got saved, and she said from what?

Speaker 1 (10:00):
And I didn't know, you know, I don't know, you
know what I got saved from.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
It was good.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
I'm just saved and so, you know, And then my
parents didn't go to church, So for a little while
I went to church with mister Bill and Miss Ramona
and their family. But then we moved not long after that.
And so, you know, unsaved people don't go to church,
and seven year olds don't have wheels. So basically, I

(10:31):
one hundred percent just didn't have a way to get
to church. Sometimes my mom would wake up and she
would bring me to different churches, Like I went to
the Catholic church, I went to Baptist church, I went
to Lutheran church, I went to Methodist. I mean, I
feel like the Lord allowed me during that time to
like learn about a lot of religions, you know. And

(10:51):
I really would sit in some of those churches and think,
you made the whole universe. Now I was a kid,
but I knew him, this cannot be you.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
This, there's more. There's got to be a place that's
where there's more. And so I mean, I.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Don't know why my mom decided to do that.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
It was such a hippie thing to do, you know.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
To drop me off, you would have to find the
children's church. You know, people I babied my kids, you know,
but to think about dropping my child off, go find
the whatever they've got there, you know, just drop me
off in a robe in whatever church. It was crazy.
So anyway, I'm grateful for it now, but it's looking
back as a mom, I was like, what I know,

(11:35):
some of that stuff is crazy.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
It is crazy, a whole different era it was.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
It really was finn for yourself, right, So just come
home when the lights are on.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
So let's fast forward a little bit.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
So you're you know now.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
You meet your husband when you're young.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Yeah, pretty young.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Well, the way I met my husband is my brother
was super hyperactive and he was dyslikes it, and back
then they really did not know what to do with
people like that, and so he my parents just they
thought randomly picked a school out of the phone book,
and so they said, we'll lower the student teacher ratio

(12:16):
and this is going to help Craig. So Craig starts
going to this Christian school and Craig starts changing. He
comes home and he says, you know, today I had
a headache. My teacher prayed for my head and I
felt warmth and my head was healed.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
And my parents were like, oh, my goodness, you know
what in the world is happening up at the school.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
So anyway, they decided this is like the first time
ever to go to this church, this random church, and
we go in.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
And I promised you. You could feel God so.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Strongly that I started looking up at the ceiling because
I thought, surely I'm going to see the hand of God.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
And I thought it was a little strange.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
You know, people had their hands up in the air,
and it was very different from any church I had
ever been to. But people there were people that were
getting healed. They had a guest speaker, and I later
found out she was like famous. Her name was Vestal Goodman,
and she was a woman who was like fire. She
was like the fire of the Holy Spirit. And so

(13:28):
it was like a different type of service for everyone,
including me. And so so anyway, I end up just
getting hooked. Like when I went home that night, I
was in bed and I thought, that's your I know,
that's church. You are there, and I'm going back. And

(13:49):
by that time I had just gotten my driver's license,
so I would go pick up my little grandma that
hadn't been saved, she didn't drive, and we would go
to church together. And my parents just went sort of
sporadically at that point. And and man, I was getting
introduced to the Holy Spirit, and then I got introduced

(14:10):
to my husband and his uncle actually started the church
like years and years before his parents helped start.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
The Christian school that my brother went to.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
And and here we were, and we you know, we
we married early, and you know, I felt like, Okay,
I have this awesome Christian man. And I always prayed
for a guy that would be similar to mister Bill,
who was just so sweet to his wife and you know,
loved her so much because of the love of the Lord.

(14:45):
And I just thought, this is going to be a breeze.
You know, now I've solved all my problems.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
And in most of this, I know you had like
a vision that you saw lights. So yeah, because like,
how what happened? What was that about?

Speaker 1 (15:01):
And well, before I got married, when I was seventeen,
my dad, my dad got saved and he stopped drinking,
and he stopped drinking for like nine months, got baptized,
was in the church, and then he started drinking again.

(15:22):
But he was remorseful and he stopped. He abruptly stopped,
and he abruptly died shockingly of DTAs. I don't know
if you realize how very dangerous it can be to
get off of alcohol when you are an alcoholic and
just abruptly stopped, so all of his organs shut down

(15:44):
and he died.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
And so I was seventeen at the time.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
And I just was so aware of my mortality, you know,
I thought, wow, you know, now there was a sweetness
in his death because I knew he was right with
the Lord, so I knew I would see him again.
But there was also just like, oh, my goodness, life
is short.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
I better do something for God. I want to show.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Up in heaven, you know, having accomplished whatever it is
that God wanted me to do.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
So I had this big plan, you know.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
That I would go to LSU and that I would
be a golden girl, and that was my Grandma's dream
for me, and that was going to do. I actually
had a scholarship to LSU. We were the LSU Tiger family.
And God, I said, wait a minute, after my dad died,
what do you want me to do? And whenever I

(16:39):
asked that question, I just in a moment in my
mind's I saw a globe and the globe had lights
all over it, and I knew he meant broadcast the Gospel.
And I thought, okay, I'm going to work for CBN, so.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
We are gonna come right back in a moment and
We're gonna hear the rest of Michelle's testimonies. Stay right there,
you're watching Grace Grace with Nina and Michelle.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
We want to honor God because he sees everything.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
You were born with a plan and a purpose. He's
the God of all things possible. He's the God of
all miracle.

Speaker 5 (17:39):

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Now we are back.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
You're watching Grace Grace with Nina M. Mishell.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
We're interviewing Michelle today and you are about to tell us.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Now that you went.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
You saw this vision and you immediately had the idea
that that meant that I was going.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
To work for CBN because before before I started going
to church at glad Tiding's Assembly of God, I was
watching Pat Robertson on TV. I would watch CBN seven
hundred Club. My parents even began to watch seven hundred
Club on TV.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
Which is ultimately how we met in.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
It's kind of crazy and so you know, So that
was my first thought is that I would broadcast the
gospel and would I didn't know exactly what that meant
except that I would, you know, work with the seven
hundred Club.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
You know.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
So I married my husband, went to college, majored in
mass Calm with that vision in mind, because I thought, Okay,
what major goes with broadcasting the Gospel, and that major
was mass calm.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
He was in the Navy.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
God has always been really really faithful, like to answer
prayers like I think about, like even when I didn't
know anything about God really except that I was saved.
I remember one day, I'm backing up a minute, where
I got my car stuck in a like a sinkhole,

(20:14):
and I just got down on my knees on top
of my car and said, God, please intervene, like help
me get this car out of this sink hole, let
me go home. And someone came out of like the
woods with like a mechanic suit on and helped me.
And I have always felt like that was an angel.

(20:35):
And the Lord has always been really really faithful to me,
like when in my desperation, and it seems like, you know,
I have been so desperate for God so often in
my life because various things.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Just because you get saved.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Does not mean you're on easy street for the rest
of your life.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
In fact, it seems like sometimes.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
Especially when you're in the ministry and serving the land,
and I felt so called, he wants to steal your call,
he wants you to quit. He does, he does, But
so you have the vision about the lights. And then
you're finished college. You think you're gonna go work at CBN.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
I live in Virginia, Virginia Beach where CBN is because
Troy was in the Navy.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Guess where Virginia Beach.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
So, you know, my little mind says, Okay, we're here because.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
I'm working at CBN.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
I'm gonna hand my diploma of pat and I don't
care if I have to watch the to mop the floors.
I'm working for CBN, and so eventually they'll find a
place for me. Right, God speaks to Troy and I
and tells.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
Us we have to go home.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
In fact, someone came out of the choir loft after
we had talked about it. No one even knew that,
and he said, you've been thinking about moving home.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
God has released you to go. He hands usay.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Sheet of paper that says this, and the next day
Troy's company, he finds out, is bought out.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
And before I know it, I'm.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
Driving by CBN in a U haul and I'm thinking,
what in the world is happening here?

Speaker 3 (22:13):
So you know, God, how is this going to work out?

Speaker 1 (22:16):
That was before you could work from home or anything
like that. If you didn't live in the place where
you worked, you didn't work there. So I'm driving past
my dream and moving back home where we end up
having our three children, and then you know, we ended up.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Years later, Troy and I were.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
We were donors to CBN and for the first time
in their almost fifty year history, they sent out an
email to the Houston area that they were looking for
someone that did exactly what I do. And Troy is
the one who saw it. I didn't even see it.
He actually had to go into the email and to

(23:02):
my email for something and he said, hey.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
He called me from work.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
He said, hey, did you see the email from CBN?

Speaker 3 (23:10):
And I said, no, what email?

Speaker 1 (23:12):
He said, they have a job opening, and I said,
come home right now. He was he was working for lunch.
I said, please come home, let's fill it out.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
This is it.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
I know it, and I am telling you when when
they I had eight interviews.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
By the time I got to the.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
Eighth, I'm sitting before a like in a boardroom of
God's polls and silass of our day. And they said
why would we hire you? And I said, because I
am the fruit.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Of your labor.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
I mean, I was discipled I I you know, I
basically cut my teeth watching you because I didn't have
a car to get to church, and you know, and
God is so faithful. And then on one of my
first days on the job.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
I asked the Lord.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
I said, God, I don't want to do the work
of the spirit in the flesh. And that's how he
told me to go to your house and that's where
I started.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
That's how we met, and that was a divine appointment.
And God is so faithful and all of these steps,
you know, I always say that if we knew what
God knows, we would never change a thing, because no
matter what we've gone through, no matter the ups, the downs,
the crazy things we've been through, it's you know, everything

(24:33):
works together for good and brings you so much closer
to God. And I'm grateful every day that you listened
and you showed up at my house and that here
we are, twelve years later or so, it's still hanging
work in a ministry together doing amazing things that He
could He.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Allows us to do, and all.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
So much fun and it's all for His glory.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
So anyway, we are just so glad.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
We're going to do another show coming up We're going
to have to stay tuned and watch for that. It's
going to talk about everything God has had us do
together since we've met. So with that, we just want
to thank you' all. We're going to pray for you,
want to pray, and then we'll head.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
Out and Lord, we thank you today.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
We pray God that if there's anyone there out there
that feels the draw of Jesus pulling them close to you, God,
that they will open the door and let you in. Father,
that they will be saved, that you will turn their
life around. Did Jesus name, Let this be the day
Lord that they get saved in Jesus name.

bless of you?

Speaker 5 (26:27):
Does science disprove God?

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Is there a war between science and faith?

Speaker 1 (26:32):
We don't need God to create a universe.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
There's no evidence for God and it's irrational?

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Is there no evidence for God?

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Am I delusional?

Speaker 2 (26:39):
For my beliefs?

Speaker 1 (26:40):
It is delusional and stupid?

Speaker 3 (26:42):
Am I brainwashed?

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Do I ignore reason?

Speaker 5 (26:44):
Logic?

Speaker 1 (26:45):
Critical thinking?

Speaker 5 (26:46):
Science? Our dof uses logic and reasoning. RDIOF has empowered
my sons to defend their faith with facts.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
If you want to be equipped to defend against the
biggest objections in the existence of God, our dof is
the place for you. I think.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
Has science really ruled out God's faith? At war with science?
If you want to be equipped to respond to these
claims and more, check out rdiof dot org.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
The evidence he presents is so powerful and overwhelming.

Speaker 5 (27:40):
Incredibly compelling, yet easily understands that we believe in rationality,
we believe in reason, we believe in science, and we
believe in the existence of God.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
I would leave every event with a mind boggling on assurance.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
I never believed in God.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
I just think it was craziness.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
AUDIOF confirmed my faith.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
AUDIOF confirmed my full beliefful faith in the Lollard Man.

Speaker 5 (28:07):
The appearance of design in the universe is undeniable.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
The lights, the crowd, the videos.
