Speaker 1 (00:04):
Welcome to this edition of PowerPoint with Jack Graham. A
little later in the program, we'll tell you how you
can get a copy of doctor Graham's book Angels. But first,
here's the message Praying it Forward.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
In Hebrews Chapter thirteen.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
We're coming to the finish line of our message series
called Going the Distance. So what we have before us
in Hebrews Chapter thirteen, Verses twenty and twenty one is
a blessing to every believer. Now may the God of Peace,
who brought again from the dead, our Lord, Jesus, the

(00:46):
Great Shepherd of the Sheep, by the blood of the
Eternal Covenant, equip you with everything good that you may
do His will king in us that.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Which is pleasing in his sight.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
The one holy ambition of every believer should be to
please God, to honor God. And He will enable us
to do that because it says we work to please
Him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
So there it is a prayer to propel us forward.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Prayer really is the most powerful force on earth because
prayer connects us with the.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Power of God.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
When we pray, God moves, And as we've learned in
the scripture going forward here, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday,
today and forever. So the same power of Jesus alive
in his body is alive in his body the church today,
and we are experiencing personally the presence and the power

(02:11):
of Jesus Christ.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
And this prayer.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Links our emptiness and our nothingness to God's all mightiness.
That's the reason the weak can say I'm strong, the
poor can say I'm rich because we have been enriched,
we have been empowered in prayer.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
And prayer.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Is the slender nerve that moves the omnipotence of God.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
I like that prayer moves the muscles of God.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Prayer activates your life in mission and in ministry for Christ.
And that's what life is about, to please Him to
do his will. If we will sit long enough and
speak and listen and converse with God, he will show
us his will and his purpose and then empower us
to do it. That's what this benediction, this blessing is saying,

(03:22):
and it tells us who God is, says he is.
May the God of Peace who brought back from the dead,
the Lord Jesus Christ. May the God of Peace who
brought back to them the dead, the Lord Jesus Christ,
the great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of
his covenant, show you his will. So let's just talk

(03:44):
for a few moments about who our God is. He
is the God of peace. You know, God has made
peace with us. We were born with our fists raised
opposing God, resisting God. Naturally, we were born with a

(04:06):
bent to disobedience and rebellion, and so a relationship with
God was not possible because of this distance, of this division.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yet God loved.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Us and reconciled himself to us by sending his son.
And this is the heart of the Christian message that
God sent his son Jesus Christ, and Jesus on the cross,
by the blood of this new promise, poured out his

(04:41):
life for us in order to bring us to God.
If you know anything about a reconciliation, if you've had
a broken relationship in your family, if you had a
broken relationship and a work environment, a family member, a friend.
When that relationship is broken, there's been division. There may
have even been fighting and all the rest arguing. But

(05:02):
when a reconciliation comes place, there is this moment when
you are brought back together again in the relationship. What
has happened through Jesus Christ is that God has made
peace with us. He reached out to us and gave
us peace. One of the first books I read as
a young Christian was written by Billy Graham.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
It was called Peace with God. I wanted that. Now
all around us the world is at war.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
There's terrorism, nuclear threats, political division. There's so much hate
and so much violence in the world today. We see
it all around us. We're in a hostile environment, it
seems in every way.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Where is the peace? How do we know peace?

Speaker 3 (05:48):
And on a personal level, people are experiencing more anxiety
angst than ever before. Stress is killing people by degrees.
My friend Robert Morgan said, worry never takes a vacation.
Most people, one hundred percent worry about something. Every day

(06:11):
you go to the beach to try to take a vacation,
you worry whether the sun's going to be out or not.
There's always something to worry about to stress out. And
we're ramped up. We're revved up in our generation. We're
at break neck speed.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
And is taking a toll on all of us.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
All of the strife and all of the stress in
people's lives. And so there, you know, is a need
for counselors and physicians and professionals who can help us
manage and monitor and cope with many of the things
that we're facing. And you know, the right counselors in
that situation can be life savors. God promises something that

(06:52):
is supernatural.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
It is peace.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Now, the Hebrew word for peace is shillom.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Jewish friends often greet one another, especially in Israel, with
those words shillom or peace. In fact, one of the
names of God we find in the Bible is Jehovah
our Yahweh, Shilloh. He is described so often in the
New Testament as the God of peace. You know, God's

(07:28):
never wringing his hands. God's never worried about what's going
to happen next. God is always in control. Colme, there's
no panic in heaven. Corey ten Boom said, but plans
only plans. And so when we face situations in our lives,

(07:48):
we can know that God is in command, and God
is in control, and his peace is available first, the
peace that we have with God. When our sins are
forgiven and we enter a relate relationship with God, we
become children of God. But not only peace with God,
but the peace of God. And the Scripture says in

(08:09):
Philippians four that the peace of God is beyond understanding,
is something you can't describe, is something you can't explain.
It is undeniable and unmistakable, yet.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Unexplainable.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
So many times in our lives as Christians, we have
been blessed by the God of Peace, as his presence
is his peace, when we pray, when we open God's work,
when we sit down with a Christian friend, when we

(08:47):
attend to worship service. And somehow, in the midst of
all of this, the peace of God just sweeps over us,
because the God of Peace is with us, the God
of Peace is in us. One day, Jesus and his
disciples were on a boat and they got in the
middle of a terrible storm on the Sea of Galilee.

(09:08):
Jesus was actually below deck, sleeping, resting, and the disciples
were in a panic above deck on the deck, and
they're doing everything they can to survive this storm. And
finally they cry out to the Lord Lord, don't you
care that we're dying out here? They were so afraid,

(09:31):
and Jesus came out to the deck, and he spoke
one word peace, and those waves became still, and those
disciples learned the lesson of their lifetime that you need
to learn today, and that is Jesus still calms the storms,

(09:52):
if not without us, the storms within us, and those
be the most difficult of all the storms. On the inside,
he speaks peace. He gives rest for the soul because
his presence is always near. He's never far away. That's

(10:15):
his promise. The God of Peace is with us. If
there's one thing that's better than the peace of God,
is the God of peace.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Not only does he give peace, he is peace.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
And that great passage in Philippians for when it says,
don't worry about anything, but pray about everything with thanksgiving
in your heart. And the peace of God, which passes
all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
You see, we not only have the peace of God
to guide us, but the God of Peace to guard
us like a sentinel, like your own personal security force.
Is this peace. Peace is an inside job. It's not
the absence of problems. It's the presence of Jesus in

(11:10):
your life. That's peace. Many people turn to substances and
whether it's alcohol or drugs to find peace. You know,
alcoholism is a stress related illness. Turn to alcohol or
turn to money or possessions or sex or whatever to
try to find peace in their lives, to try to

(11:32):
find meaningful existence. And it's not there. It's nothing on
the outside. It's what happens on the inside when Jesus
Christ lives in you, and his peace is like a
river in your soul. Again, it's good that we have
teachers and counselors and professionals and physicians and wise people

(11:55):
to help us. But ultimately the answer is a cure
for the soul. And Jesus is the soul doctor. He's
the cure for the illnesses of the soul, and he
gives peace in every heart. That's why he could say
facing the cross.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Just hours.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Before the cross, he looked at his disciples in the
upper room.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
And he said, my.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Peace, I give to you peace in the midst of
that storm, Peace in the midst of execution and death. Yes,
my peace I give to you, not as the world gives.

Speaker 4 (12:43):
Don't let your hearts be afraid.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Somebody said the world didn't give it to me, and
the world can't take it away.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Jesus gives us this peace.

Speaker 1 (12:55):

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Now, this peace came at a great price. It speaks
here of the blood of the eternal Covenant. We're told
in the scriptures that that peace comes as a result
of this cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Isaiah fifty
three and verse five. He was wounded for our transgressions.
He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought

(14:34):
us peace.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Was upon him.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
He died for you, and oh yes, he rose again.
The same Jesus that died was buried.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
And on the third day he rose again again.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
This benediction summarizes everything from the dead, the God of
peace who brought again from the dead, our Lord Jesus Christ.
You know what that means. That means that resurrection power
is in us. Not only is our God a god
of peace, he's a god of power, resurrection power. And

(15:13):
this resurrection power enables us to face every situation in
our life. It's over our heads, it's under his feet.
He's in control. He is the God of peace. He
is the God of power. Can you think of anything
in your life that is greater than the power of

(15:34):
the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Can you think of anything
you're facing, some sin, some problem, an addiction, a habit,
a brokenness. Can you think of anything in your life
that is greater than the power of Jesus Christ, who
came out of the grave. And I'm telling you, the

(15:55):
same miracle as the miracle of the resurrection will bring
a miracle in your life. When you invite Jesus in
the same miracle that brought Jesus out of the grave
will bring about a miracle in your life. That's what
it's saying. And because of who he is and what

(16:17):
he has done for us. Notice what he has done.
He saves us. Jesus saves us by the blood of
the New Covenant. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son,
cleanses us from every sin. He says, there another way

(16:38):
to be saved. No, Hebrews nine twenty two says without
the shedding of blood, there's no remission of sin, no
forgiveness of sin. And all the blood sacrifices in the
past and the Old Testament were but a prophecy. A precursor,
an illustration, a symbol of the great sacrifice that Christ
made on the cross. The Old Testament brought a new covenant,

(17:01):
and it's the eternal covenant of God's blood. In other words,
we are saved because of what Jesus has done in
giving his blood.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
He paid it all all to him.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
I Ope, God saves us by his blood, and yes
there's power in his blood. But he not only saves us,
he shepherds us. You see in this great summary, this
great benedictions, that he's the great shepherd of our souls.
How he shepherds us, he leads us, he feeds us,
he loves us, he guides us. He said, I am

(17:31):
the good Shepherd, which means he is counseling us. He
leads us beside the still waters, through the deepest of valleys,
and there's no place you go without his protection, without
his guidess. One of the greatest images to me and
all the Bible, one of the sweetest things given to
us by Jesus himself, is that he is the shepherd

(17:52):
who left the ninety and nine and with reckless love
and abandonment, risky the shepherd, the good Shepherd, left the
ninety and nine and went after that one lost little
lamb and brought him back home. That's who Jesus is.
He found you where you were and brought you into
the fold, into the family of God. And we are

(18:16):
promised his grace and his guidance. As he shepherds us,
says he knows his sheep by name. It's astounding to
me that God could know my name, but he does.
He knows your name is well. One final thing and
that is He not only saves us and shepherds.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
Us, he shapes us.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Look at that next verse, verse twenty one. It says
that He equips us with every good thing to do
his will. If Jesus two ten, we are his workmanship
created in Christ. Jesus unto good work. And this word
equips you know what it means. It's a word used
by doctors. It meant to heal a bone, to set

(19:05):
a fractured bone. So one way that God shapes us
is through brokenness. I've never known a person that God
has used greatly who has not first been broken in
some way. God breaks us at times in order to
bless us. And people that God uses are people who

(19:28):
have often gone through tough times, and those scars are
not wasted, those scars become are shaped into beautiful testimonies.
And I've seen God take broken people, broken lives, their
lives almost destroyed, and put their lives back together again,

(19:48):
mend them and equip them and use them for his glory.
He said, I'm too broken for God to use. God
could never use me. My marriage is broken, my life
is broken. No, if you will give him the peaces
God will put your life. He will mend you, and
he will equip you to do.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Is what he say.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
I've missed God's best, I've missed God's will. Know. God
will get you back on his path if you will
give him your.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
Life to shape you again.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
And that's why it's more than trite to me to
say that, that's when your mess becomes your message. It's
when your mess becomes your message. Because God uses broken
people who have been put back together by the Lord
Jesus Christ. Not only does it speak of brokenness, but

(20:39):
it speaks of readiness. This idea of shaping is another word.
This word equip is the idea of a soldier preparing
for battle. Armor up, suit up, and prepare for battle.
Now here's the one thing. Everybody needs to understand that
we're all in a spiritual battle, that there is spiritual

(20:59):
war all around us. God has been preparing you for
this spiritual battle. God is equipping you and preparing you
and readying you to make a difference in the world
for Jesus Christ to fight the good fight of faith.
And there's plenty of resistance in the world. And yet
if you will suit up, God will equip you to

(21:21):
please Him and to do his will. That should be
your prayer, that should be your purpose Lord, to honor you,
to please you in every good work, to do your will.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Write it on your heart that God will equip you,
prepare you with every good thing.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
He's putting good things inside of us.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
His spirit is alive in us, His gifts are available
to us, His callings are all around us. He is
equipping us to do with every good thing, to do
his will. And you know what it goes on to say,
not only to do his will, but through Jesus Christ,
he empowers us. Because God will never ask you to

(22:13):
do anything that he will not enable you to do.
What God, what kind of God would ask you to
do something and not give you the ability to do it.
God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called. You
say yes to God, you say yes to the call
of God upon your life. He will equip you with

(22:36):
everything you need to do. The will of God, that
which is pleasing in His sight.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
Working in us.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
Wow, God working envy, God working through me. That's the
Christian life.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
That's the secret.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
And then all the praise goes to Jesus, to whom
be the glory forever and ever and ever. So all
we need to do in this race that we've been
talking about building a muscular faith, developing a muscular faith,

(23:25):
running the race, looking to Jesus, the Author and the
finisher of our faith. What we need to do is
keep our eyes on him and just keep running. So
may the God of Peace, the great Shepherd of the sheep,
through his eternal blood and covenant with you, May he

(23:49):
equip you with every good thing.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
To do his will.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
Working in you.

Speaker 4 (23:59):
For his good place measure. If you would please now,
and all the praise goes to Jesus.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
You're listening to PowerPoint with Jack Graham and the message
praying it forward. On June thirtieth, we will close our
books on another year of ministry, and it's critical we
end strong. That's why generous friends have stepped forward with
a two hundred thousand dollars matching grant, which means every
dollar you give by June thirtieth will be doubled. Your

(24:26):
gift to help meet this grant in full is so important,
we'll send you doctor Graham's powerful book Angels. It's our
special gift and thank you to you. This encouraging book
reveals what Scripture says about God's messengers and how their
presence reminds us that Heaven is always near. Request your

for today?

Speaker 3 (25:21):
The one thing I want you to remember is that
the Christian life is not a one hundred yard dash.
It's a marathon. It shouldn't be lived in spurts and
jumps and hiccups, stops and starts, but like a great race,
and like a great runner, going hard all the way
to the finish line. Let me ask you today, do
you think that because you're a Christian that life should

(25:42):
somehow be easier, That because you walked down the aisle
of a church when you were a child, or made
a decision for Christ somewhere along the way, that God
owes you a comfortable and easy life. Well, believe it
or not, many people think this way, though few of
us would honestly admit it. Dear friend, the Christian life
demands discipline. It means hard work and devotion. It requires endurance.

(26:06):
The Bible tells us we're in a war where the
spiritual battles and bullets are real and the casualties are high.
It's my prayer today that you will renew your commitment
to live for Christ full out, full throttle every day,
and that you will ask Him to help you build
the endurance that is required to finish the race of
life and win to the glory of God. Social media

(26:28):
doesn't always bring out the best in people, does it?
But what if we saw websites like Facebook and Twitter
is just one more way to connect with the world
that desperately needs to know the truth of our Savior.
One powerful way you can do this is by connecting
with other believers from the PowerPoint community on Facebook, Instagram,
and Twitter, and that includes me. Just search for PowerPoint
