Speaker 1 (00:10):
Good morning, welcome to stand on the word. Thanks for
joining me. All right.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Today we are reading Isaiah chapter sixty and sixty one.
Verse eight of chapter sixty one. For I the Lord
love justice, I hate robbery, for burnt offering. I will
direct their work in truth, and I will make with
them an everlasting covenant.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
All right.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Two really good chapters, again pretty much independent of one another.
The first chapter, chapter sixty the prophecy here, while it
may have had a preview and its fulfillment with the
exiles returning from Babylon, its primary fulfillment and therefore focus
is on the glory that is coming to Israel in
(00:50):
the Millennial Kingdom. Then over in chapter sixty one we
have the ministry of the Messiah in his first advent,
as well as his second verse one six Arise, shine,
for your light has come, and the glory of the
Lord is risen upon you. Now talk about a turn
of events for Israel. The light changes everything from despised
(01:12):
to glorified, from rejected to pursued for favor. At the
second advent of our Lord, Zion is restored to a
place that was initially envisioned as the head and not
the tail, as the place from which the Gospel goes
forth because the light, the light.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Will rain from Jerusalem. Verse two.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep
darkness the people. But the Lord will arise over you,
and his glory will be seen upon you. Now this
is not the chakaino glory that was in the old Temple,
but this speaks to the glory of the Lord in person.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
He will be reigning there. First.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Three, the gentiles shall come to your light and kings,
to the breakness of your rising. Lift up your eyes
all around, and see they all gather together. They come
to you. Your son shall come from Afar, and your
daughter shall be nursed at your side. Then you shall
see and become radiant, and your heart shall swell with joy,
because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you.
(02:18):
The wealth of the gentiles shall come to you.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Now we've seen this.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
In previous chapters, but here it is again, this return
of the Jewish diaspora. The gentiles would facilitate the return
of the Jewish people who had been scattered to the nations.
And while this is far from being fulfilled.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
This has not yet been fulfilled. It is beginning to happen.
We're seeing it.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
In fact, we've seen a huge increase in the number
of Jewish people that are moving to Israel post October seventh.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
It's been a huge increase Verse eight.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Who are these who fly like a cloud and like
doves to their roost? Surely the coast lands shall wait
for me, and the ships of Tarsius will come first
to bring your sons from Afar, their silver and their
gold with them, to the name of the Lord, your.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
God, and to the Holy One of Israel.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Because He has glorified you. The sons of foreigners shall
build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to you.
For in my wrath I struck you, but in my
favor I have had mercy on you. He brought judgment,
but he will restore verse eleven. Therefore your gate shall
be opened continually. They shall not be shut day or night,
(03:37):
that men may bring to you the wealth of the
gentiles and their kings in procession. For the nation and
the kingdom which will not serve you shall perish, and
those nations shall be utterly ruined. Now the fear of
God will be upon the nations, as they see the
power of God at work, and in at work for
(03:59):
and in them Nation of Israel.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Verse thirteen.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
The glory of Lebanons shall come to you, the Cyprus,
the pine, and the box tree, together to beautify the
place of my sanctuary. And I will make the place
of my feet glorious.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Also, the sons.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Of those who afflicted you shall come bowing to you,
and all those who despised you shall fall prostrate at
the souls of your feet, and they shall call you
the city of the Lord Zion, the Holy One of Israel.
These are the nations that were judged by God for cursing,
(04:40):
the cursing of Israel and the Jewish people. So these
are their sons, the fathers. The previous generations had cursed Israel.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
They were judged by God.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
And now the offspring subject the future generations are coming
to Israel verse fifteen. Whereas you have been forsaken and hated,
so that no one went through you, I will make
you an eternal excellence, a.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Joy of many generations.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
You shall drink the milk of the gentiles and the
milk of the breast of kings. You shall know that
I the Lord, am your Savior and Redeemer, the Mighty
one of Jacob instead of bronze. I will bring gold
instead of iron. I will bring silver instead of wood bronze,
and instead of stones iron. I also make your officers
(05:28):
peace and your magistrate's righteousness. This reminds me of the
proverb the wealth of the wicked is stored up for
the righteous. Those who are made righteous. The wealth of
the nations will be coming to Israel verse eighteen. Violence
shall no longer be heard in your land, neither wasting
nor destruction within your borders. But you shall call your
(05:50):
walls salvation and your gates praise. The sun shall no
longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall
the moon give light to you.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
But the Lord will.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory.
Your sun shall no longer go down, nor shall your
moon withdrawal itself, for the Lord will be your everlasting light.
In the days of your morning shall be ended, no
longer prone to wonder.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
The nation will be steadfast. Look at verse twenty one.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Also your people shall be righteous. They shall inherit the
land forever, the branch of my planting, the work of
my hands. The Lord created the nation that look at this,
that I may be glorified. Notice that again, why that
the Lord may be glorified. That has been the plan
from the beginning verse twenty two, A little one, the
final verse, A little one shall become a thousand and
(06:46):
a small one, a strong nation. I the Lord will
hasten it in its time. Now is last phraser is important,
not our time, but at the appointed time, in the
appointed time. And when that time comes, it will happen quickly.
All right, He'll hasten it when that time comes. It
(07:06):
may take thousands of years. It's been two thousand, maybe
a little bit longer.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
But when it happens, it's going to happen quickly. So
be ready.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Chapter sixty one, another amazing chapter. These first few verses
may sound familiar. Listen, the spirit of the Lord is
upon me, because the Lord has annointed me to preach
good tidings.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
To the poor.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to
proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the
prison to those who were bound, to proclaim the acceptable
year of the Lord. I'm gonna stop right there.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Does that sound familiar? Well, let me read.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Luke Chapter four, verse sixteen. So he came to Nazareth,
where he had been brought up. And as his custom was,
he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and
he stood up to read, and he was handed the
book of the Prophet Isaiah, and I noticed it was ended.
The Prophet Isaiah didn't pick it off a shelf. It
was given to him. And when he had opened the book,
(08:05):
he found the place where it was written. The spirit
of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed
me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has
sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty
to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind,
to set it liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim
the acceptable year of the Lord. And he stops mid sentence.
(08:27):
All right, if you look in Isaiah, it continues. But
he stopped right there, and then it says. Then he
closed the book, and he gave it back to the
attendant and set down.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
And the eyes of all who were in.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
The synagogue were fixed on him, and he began to
say to them, today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.
Now he stopped at proclaiming the acceptable year of the Lord.
He did not go on to read about the day
of Vengeance and beyond why because that is when he
(09:02):
returns that and in between that separates the two his
first coming and his second coming. Well, that's you know,
two thousand years plus. That's a conjunction. That's a long conjunction.
Then what we read in the remainder of the chapter
is more of what we actually had in chapter sixty,
and that is the blessing that is going to be
(09:23):
upon Israel verse three, to console those who mourn in Zion,
to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy
for mourning, the garment of praise, for the spirit of heaviness,
that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting
of the Lord, that he that is the Lord might
be glorified.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
We see it once again. See those who.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Had mourned for Zion, and that includes the church that
is grafted in will share in this sorrow being turned
to joy, so that God might be glorified.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
Verse six.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
But you shall be named the priest of the Lord.
They shall call you the servants of our God. I'll
eat the riches of the gentiles, and in their glory
you shall boast instead of your shame. You shall have
double honor, and instead of confusion, they shall rejoice in
their portion. Therefore, in their land they shall possess double
(10:15):
everlasting joy shall be theirs. For I the Lord love justice,
I hate robbery for burnt offering. I will direct their
work in truth, and I iye and will make with
them an everlasting covenant.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Verse ten.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord. My soul shall
be joyful in my God. For he has clothed me
with the garments of salvation, and he has covered me
with the robe of righteousness. As a bridegroom decks himself
with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with jewels.
For as the earth brings forth its bud as the
(10:51):
garden callses the things to the things that are sown
to spring forth, so the Lord God will cause righteousness
and raised to spring forth before all the nations. What
was intended at the start of the nation of Israel
will finally be realized through the grace and the mercy
of God, which once again, as we see, will bring
(11:15):
glory to him.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Father. We thank you for your word, and thank you
Lord that you tell us what is coming. And Lord,
we can.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Even now we can begin to see evidence of this movement,
of these things falling into place. Maybe it's just a preview,
but Lord, just as the return of the exiles from
the Babylonian captivity was a preview of what's to come
in the millennial, even what we see now. But Lord,
we know your word is true. And I pray Lord
(11:46):
that as followers of Christ, that we would understand the
urgency of this hour, that when this does come, it's
going to happen quickly, and we need to be prepared
and we need to be sharing the Gospel. And so Father,
I pray you'd give us boldness and courage.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
For this hour.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
We thank you for your love for us, We thank
you for your word, and we thank you for the
Holy Spirit that's leading us on this journey.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Before we pray this in Jesus name. Amen.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
