Speaker 1 (00:02):
Ahead on American Sunrise, President Trump is demanding an immediate
end to the violence between Israel and Iran after days
of strikes between the two countries. Ahead the latest on
the nearly week long conflict. Plus, lawmakers continue to condemn
the political violence in Minnesota. But what more can they
do to stop those sorts of occurrences, We'll ask a
(00:25):
member of Congress. And the Senate is back in session
and working to tackle the budget reconciliation bill. When will
they wrap up their business? And what should we taxpayers
expect from the Senate's version of the spending plan. Those
stories and so much more right now on American Sunrise.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Good morning, America. Welcome to American Sunrise.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Whether it's culture, we have breaking news to share with
you politics.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
President Trump is joining us live now from Florida.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
We've got your covered.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
This is what it looks like to be a patriot.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
We have to protect the American family.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
The American dream is still alive.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
I'm David Brodie, I'm Terrence, and I'm doctor Channa.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Good Tuesday morning to you, and thanks so much for
joining us here on American Sunrise. I'm Terrence Bates in
your Denver newsroom. Let's bring in David Brodie who's in Washington.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
D C.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Emily Finn filling in for doctor Gina this week in
our West Palm Beach studios.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Good morning to both of you.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
It has been a busy twenty four hours, really a
busy five days, if you will, but specifically when it
comes to Israel and Iran, the two sides of course
continuing to trade strikes, and we actually have a very
good visual I think now of why President Trump is
calling for people in Tehran to evacuate. Check out this
video from my Rainian State television. So yes, that was
(02:09):
a strike that happened on Iranian State television. As they
were on the air, you could see the commentator there
leave pretty quickly. I must say she seemed very very
calm in leaving. I think I would have been panicked
and there may have been some choice words had it
been me, Emily.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
But good morning to both of you.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
This is a situation that's continuing to go on and
President Trump now back at the White House to address
it absolutely.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
Terrence, well, first of all, we missed you so much.
Welcome back. Great to have you back on the screen
with us here today. A lot of tough news to
get to this morning. You know, obviously a very serious situation,
the President leaving the G seven a little bit early
to head back to DC, going to be in the
situation room looking at everything happening in Iran right now.
That video very terrifying. I promise you if that happened
(02:57):
in our studio, I would be running out of here.
That is a very very I think, real representation of
what is happening on the ground there.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
David, Yeah, there's no doubt.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Emily and Terrence, I echo, Emily, welcome back, my friend.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Great to have you here. Thank you on American Sunrise.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
That video we just saw was, of course President Trump
this morning at five point thirty am, arriving back early
from the G seven. So you know, he's the president
never sleeps, he is the energizer budding. Look, I think
the bottom line question here is what will the US
involvement look like? Look, we know they're involved, Okay, we
know they're involved in lots of different ways, but what
(03:34):
will full involvement look like? Or will there be full involvement?
And that's what is splitting MAGA right now. Let's be honest,
there are and we're going to talk about that throughout
the show, and then the question really becomes the bunker
busting bomb. Will the United States use that on fod Oh?
Of course, that nuclear power plant that's underneath ground about
(03:54):
sixty miles southwest of Tehran.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
The United States is the only one that can do it.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
They got the bunker busting bomb about thirty thousand pounds
or so, and it can go two hundred feet underground.
So if that's the case, and that changes the whole
complexion of what we're talking about here, guys. But we
need to get to the Bible verse. Let's see that
because we've got Congress and Mark offered here.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
In a moment. Here it is.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
It's from the Book of Proverbs. It's Proverbs seventeen twenty two.
It says that mary heart does good like medicine, but
a broken spirit dries the bones.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
All right, So let's talk about Iran and Israel. And
there are new.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Bills in both the Senate and House that aim to
limit President Trump's power in getting the US into a
military conflict with Iran. We have Democrat of Virginia, Senator
Tim Kaine. He introduced a bill that invokes the nineteen
seventy three War Powers Resolution that gives Congress the ability.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
To declare war.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
The bill essentially says that President Trump has to get
congressional authorization before ordering military strikes against Iran.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
And also there's a similar bill in the House.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
That was introduced by Trump nemesis Tom Massey. Democrats actually
like that bill as well. For more, let's bring in
Missouri Congressman Mark Alford, Congressman. Curious to get your take
on obviously what Tom Massey is introduced, but beyond that,
what you make of what's happening.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
And look, this is splitting mag a little bit.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
I'm not trying to overdramatize anything, but we're seeing some cracks,
some fissures, if you will. We've seen Tucker Carlson, even
Marjorie Taylor Green as well, having concerns about what the
president may be doing.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Here your take, and good morning to you.
Speaker 6 (05:29):
Well, good morning, Emily, Terrence and David. Good to see
you on this Tuesday morning. Look, there's been a fracture
I think in some of MAGA. Thomas Massey is not
a MAGA person, of course, Marjorie Taylor Green is.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
But there is going to be healthy debate on this issue.
Speaker 6 (05:47):
I am not in favor of restricting the President of
the United States from making the necessary movements that we
need to make on our end. I do not think
at this point we are going to get involved. To
Whiteman Air Force Base, home of the B two Stealth
bomber in one hour.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
I will be there in two hours.
Speaker 6 (06:05):
It's about an hour from my house, and the B
two Stealth Bomber is the only bomber in the world
capable of carrying this thirty thousand pounds bunker busting bomb.
It's about a twelve hour flight from Whiteman Air Force Base.
They are capable, ready, and lethal. We have made sure
that that program remains that way until we get the
B twenty one. But the point is, here's the question, guys,
(06:27):
do we want the Mullas to continue in the Ilatola,
to continue with their nuclear capability, the enrichment of the
nuclear the nuclear equipment to make a nuclear bomb and
be a threat to Iran and possibly the United States
of America.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
I say no.
Speaker 6 (06:46):
I think it's time for Israel, as they are doing
right now, to finish off this regime.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
So, Congressman, this trip that you're taking to the Air
Force Base where this B two stealth bomber. Is is
it for a brief Is it simply to visit and
lift the spirits of the troops who were stationed there?
Tell us more about this trip. You can't just throw
something out there like that and not tickle my fancy
here and get my mind going.
Speaker 6 (07:12):
Well, this was planned some time ago. There's a change
of command for the commanding officer, who's also a friend
of mine. We've become friends over the last couple of years.
But I'm hoping to get a briefing while we're there
on the current situation and the readiness of the B
two platform for any potential involvement in this conflict.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
You know, is your expectation just really quickly? I'm sorry, Emily,
but is your expectation at this moment, even though the
White House is publicly said and the Pentagon has publicly
said that it does not want to engage in war, privately,
are you hearing something potentially different and is your expectation
that the United States will be more hands on, more
(07:53):
involved in a conflict between Israel and Iran or a
conflict with around period.
Speaker 6 (07:59):
Well, I would never reveal anything that I get privately
from our military white Man Air Force Base. But I
will say this, I believe in what President Reagan talked
about peace through strength, and we have the capabilities. The
Iranian Mullas and the I toolin know that we've used
the B two to strike the terrorist in Yemen. We
(08:20):
did that back in October and have done it since.
But we have the capability. They know it, and it's
up to them now. They want to get back to
the bargaining table. They have passed the deadline on that.
Israel is fed up, the Middle East is fed up
with Iran. They want to see some changes there and
Iran become part of a normal nation that can deal
(08:44):
with Saudi Arabia, Jordan and other great nations like Egypt.
And so they're ready for change. They want something done.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
We do too.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Let's see what happens.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
Congresson It's obviously a developing, rapidly changing situation in Iran.
Awful to see all of the violence, but there's violence
happening here in America as well. You had a tweet
very recently talking about the recent shootings in Minnesota that
political violence, and you said that you were devastated by
the news. Your reaction to.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
All of this well. Yeah. In fact, Emmanuel Cleaver, who's
a friend of mine.
Speaker 6 (09:17):
He's a Democrat from Kansas City, a longtime member of
the US House, he was on that hit list.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
We just found out last night.
Speaker 6 (09:25):
I called him checking on him and his wife here
in Kansas City.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
They are fine.
Speaker 6 (09:29):
But look, we have got to do something to bring
the rhetoric down. It has gotten way too heated here
in America. I want to do my part on that
as well. But we've also got to have better security.
We have got to get money, basically for security. I'm
not talking about twenty four hour arm guards outside my
(09:51):
home here just south of Kansas City. But what I
am talking about is making sure that members are secure.
Right now, we have to pay for security outside the
US Capital complex. We have to pay with our campaign funds.
And I hate going to donors and saying, hey, I
need could you please contribute to our campaign so I
can pay for security. Because there's a lot of people
(10:11):
out there who want to do congressional members harm.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
I don't think that's right for the system.
Speaker 6 (10:15):
We've got to provide a way that congressional members feel safe,
their families feel safe. And what happened this deplorable assassination
and attempted assassination never happens again.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Congressman, before we let you go the big beautiful bill.
What's the latest we're hearing from the Senate the Senate
Finance committees proposing to make these changes as I look
at it, specifically, they say they are suggesting cuts to
the child tax credit and also salt and medicaid or
excuse me, medicare, Yeah, medicaid cuts as well. That would
(10:49):
be different from the House bill. What are you hearing
and how is this going? What's going to happen?
Speaker 2 (10:54):
Well, look, I think we're in trouble on the salt issue.
Speaker 6 (10:56):
The state in local taxes that are colleagues from the
York Hello, Illinois have fought hard for We raised the
cap and the House bill up to forty thousand.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Dollars deduction off of the federal taxes.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
Basically, there are a lot of states that feel and
in particular, feel that we should not be financing members
of other states who don't have good tax policy. But
I want these members to get back to Congress because
if they don't get back, we don't have a majority.
And everything in twenty twenty seven, twenty eight will be
about impeaching President Donald J.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Trump.
Speaker 6 (11:30):
We cannot afford to put a stick in the spokes
of this bicycle that we're riding down and gaining momentum,
and so the Senate has come back. I think the
proposal is to keep it at a ten percent cap
for the art I'm sorry, ten thousand dollars deduction for
federal taxes. I think that's going to be a no go.
(11:50):
Michael Lawyer. Lawler has already signaled that he is a
no on that. Nicololota from New York City is also concerned. Maliatakas.
They are very concerned that this salt cap of forty
thousand dollars deduction is not going to hold and it
could be it could be bad news when this gets
back to the House.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
At this point, is July fourth still a realistic goal
in your mind for getting this thing passed or are
you looking beyond that?
Speaker 6 (12:19):
Well, Terrence, I have always been a big proponent of
setting deadlines, because if we don't set deadlines, we don't
get anything done. Mike Johnson, our speaker, set this deadline
for Memorial Day to have the.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
House portion done, and we got it done.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
This was an aspirational goal to get the Senate done
with this part and get it on the Present's desk
by July fourth so he can sign it on Independence Day.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
I don't know if it's going to happen, it's still aspirational.
Speaker 6 (12:45):
The Senate did come back with their text language, so
that's a step in the right direction. I think we're
going to end up going to conference on this, and
it's very rare that this day and age that the
Senate and the House actually go to a conference committee to.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Work out the bills.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
Like we all learned that that's what it's supposed to
happen in Schoolhouse Rock.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
You remember those days. But I think we're going.
Speaker 6 (13:05):
To find a negotiated settlement, a negotiated somewhere in the
middle on this that because if we don't, guys, this
will be the largest tax increase in US history, and
every family watching right now we'll see a tax increase
of about twenty two hundred dollars. We cannot afford to
do that to our economy. We've got to keep the
(13:26):
America First agenda going. We've got to get the one big,
beautiful bill on the President's desk.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Absolutely, Congressman will have to leave the conversation there.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Always good to see you, appreciate you being here with us.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Thank you, good seeing you.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
Thanks Dolling.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
I had a quick look at more of the day's headlines.
Plus is really Prime Minister Benjamin net And Yahoo has
a new warning for Iranian leaders as comments are coming
out
