of Reasonably Shady. My name is Giselle Bryants. What's up?

What's up? This is Robin Dixon. And we are especially
thankful for you, yes this week? Yes, we are. We're
super thankful because it's thanks good thing. Okay, so f y,
I Thanksgiving used to be one of my favorite holidays
because it's just not the food we're gonna we're gonna
get into. We don't get too but I just always

appreciate it just being thankful for everything that I have
and like my kids, my family, whatever job I had
at the time, just being grateful. God is like in
the blessing business. He has like so blessed my life,
and it's always time to just like pause and say
thank you Lord. Yes, I agree. Yes, Now how do

(01:05):
you feel about it? Now? Oh? Because you I said
it used to be yes? Yes, So now I'm back
to my birthday? Is my favorite holiday? My birthday? Yes?
I like that. I like that, you know, I don't know,
it's weird. Um, I don't know about you, but like
holidays with my family. When I was younger. I think
when I was like a kid, holidays were so exciting. Yes,

you know, first of I was like, oh, I get
off school for a few days, and then I get
to see my family and it's like you like look
forward to it. And my family is really small, and
so as we've gotten older, we've kind of gotten smaller
and smaller. And now it's like my holidays just aren't
the same. Unfortunately, aren't the same in a bad way,
Like what do you know, because we're just because my

(01:49):
family is so small, and so it's like literally and
I don't know, it's just like okay. So for for
my family, my grandmother was the matriarchs of the family
and everything was centered around her, you know. And then
like when she passed, it's like, you know, it's like
as people pass away, it just you kind of like

(02:12):
passed the baton to someone else. So nobody picked up
the baton. Your mom didn't pick it up, not in
that sense. So my mom is um not from here.
So it's my dad and his family that's from Baltimore.
My mom's family is kind of distant, to be honest. Well,
she has a brother that's in St. Louis, and we
see him, you know, every now and then. But like

(02:32):
I'm so envious with people that have like a ton
of cousins and aunts and are I'm telling you, I
have like two first cousins and I love them. I
love them dearly. But like, you know, I have my
one brother, my two first cousins. You know, it's like
we all, like everyone in my family had like two

(02:53):
children and that was it, you know what I mean.
And and it's just like so my grandmother had two kids,
and then my father had two kids, and then my
aunt had two kids, and then a lot of family
is good, but then it gets problematic because it's always
asking you for money. People always like, oh can I
borrow some shoes? You never see him again? This is problematic.
I would rather have that, like the just excitement and

(03:14):
you know, different relationships and you know, always someone around
than like you know, my family where I just feel
like we're so it's just because they're so first of all,
I see my my you know, my parents and all
that all the time. So it's like Thanksgiving it's no different.
You're like, it's average Tuesday. Yeah, So it's like it's

(03:36):
not like I'm not traveling somewhere to see family or
so the Holladay is as an adult for me just
you know, aren't as exciting. But we might be hosting
our Thanksgiving, so you're okay. So if you're hosting Robin,
that means you're cooking or you are interesting, you are
in your responsibility, is I know? And that's what we

(03:57):
need to get to this food because I hate Thanksgiving
for I hate Thanksgiving. I don't look forward to any
of it. I don't care about a turkey, uh stuffing
kill me? What else? Smashed potati, potatoes, cranberry dressing, sweet potatoes.

(04:18):
I don't like it. I don't like Thanksgiving food. I
don't like it at all. So I don't It's like,
oh and maybe that's why I like. Thanksgiving for me
has kind of like fizzled because as I get older,
I'm like, I don't really like that food, So like
I'm not excited to go sit around the table and
eat food that I don't like. Okay, first, okay, so

(04:39):
have you ever done the whole Thanksgiving like prepared, cooked
the whole Thanksgiving extravagance? Okay? I have. I was in
the bed for like two weeks. That ship wore me out,
like I was so tired. I didn't want I was tired,
I was pissed off. I had an attitude. I didn't
want to sit there and I just want to wait

(05:01):
on the couch. I was mad. I was so mad.
And you don't even like the food and I don't
even like this. This is just some bull. Yeah, I
don't know. As I feel really bad because I feel
like I'm robbing my kids of that experience because I
don't really like that food. And so but like I
don't want to cook a turkey. I don't. I don't
want to cook souur kroud, like I don't just who

(05:22):
I eat surowd. Mother loves sou fresh sheet. She's like,
I'll bring the sour kroud, okay, so you and my
father caun't eat it. And don't get me wrong, like
I do feel like there's something to be said about
food brings people together and all of that. I think
that that is magical. But I just like I remember
back in the day because my mother is a great cook,
and she would cook all of those things that we

(05:43):
just laid out that we said we hate, and I
remember just like my stomach being big, and like I
felt I couldn't button my paints, and I'm thinking to myself,
why have I done this to myself? Why have I
stuffed myself? Because it's not like anybody who's gonna take
the food white. The food is still in the kitchen.
I know it's the weird thing. And then so so
I have on Thanksgiving holidays and like Christmas holidays cooked

(06:06):
like um, shrimps, campy or crab cakes, you know, kale
Like I just I cannot. I don't want that stuff.
So last year, my kids, thank God, they're like, we
don't like none of that food. We don't like because
we've we've done Thanksgivings at my brother's house and his
wife cooks traditional Thanksgiving. My kids are like over it.

(06:28):
They're like, we don't even like that food. So last
year I did crab legs for Thanksgiving, which was phenomenal.
I ordered them. They came from Maine. They were hell
of expensive, but they were very good. Um, so I
think I'm going to do that this year. Okay, now
I think I know I've already ordered them. Okay, okay,
so I ordered my crablegs. But I'm gonna my sister's coming,

(06:51):
so I'm gonna add some ribs, so I ordered those
from like Memphis. Yeah, okay, I like that. I ordered
a cake from Atlanta, Okay, some crumble cake. It's gonna
be amazing. And I ordered all of my sides from
Founding Farmers, which is a restaurant here in d C.
Or Potomac all sides. Okay, I'm done. Yeah, that's good.

(07:12):
That's good. And how many people? So it's just gonna
be your sister. It's gonna be my sister. My kids,
their dad might show up. He's going to be in Africa.
He might show up at the table because because that's
normally what he does. So well, I mean in anybody
who wants to come, not y'all who was listening to this,
but anybody in the family that wants to come can Yeah, okay,

(07:32):
I like that. I like that. Maybe we'll come. Robin,
you can't come is you're hosting. And now that you
say that you're hosting, what the hell are you ordering?
I don't know. I gotta figure it out. And you're
hosting how many people? I don't know? Because so this

(07:56):
is the thing, like so Wana has a big family. Okay,
so you know we kind of said, okay, who ever
wants to come over, they can come over, but like,
I don't know who that is black people, because they
it's either they all come in and nobody's coming right exactly,
So I don't know what, you know what. After we
finished this here, I'm going to make some phone calls. Okay,

(08:16):
So what do you want on your menu? What's your
menu looking like? So, I mean, I know there are
people that like traditional Thanksgiving food, so I will order Thanksgiving.
Traditional Thanksgiving food, by the way, for the most part,
is so food. So like, yes, you know, as black people,
we eat that kind of like all the time all
the time. But I'll have someone like do like a turkey, turkey,

(08:40):
ham turkey, Yeah, fried turkey, okay, yeah, fried turkey, ham,
mac and cheese, green beans, collards, potatoes, yes, okay. Dessert
what we're doing for dessert? Dessert? You know you gotta
get like a good like I don't that's what. I
don't like sweet potato pie. I don't like sepie. Y'all,
y'all can have it. I don't like pumpkin anything. I

(09:02):
don't like pumpkin pie is bad. We're like literally everyone,
I'm sorry if we're poo pooing or your Thanksgiving meal.
I'm sorry, give me chocolate cake, but chocolate cake, or
like a cheesecake, like a good you know, I would
do like a maybe not a sweet potato cheesecake. But
I don't even want that. But I don't know. I've

(09:24):
got some stuff to think about. You. You've got a
whole lot to deal with. An hands Okay, So Porsche,
you know my good girlfriend, Porsche Williams. She swears by
this honey baked ham, right, and so she orders it.
You don't have to be Thanksgiving. She orders it all
the time because she orders it just because. So she
just opens and refrigerating. There's a big old ham. Okay,
soorsh Porsche, just telling your business right now. So she'll

(09:48):
order it on a regular day. And you know how
there's there's things that you like to snack on, right,
So I like to snack on sweet things. She likes
to snack on backhm, honey baked ham. Okay, Barti Williams,
I'm telling on you. So what she does is she
goes into the kitchen and she opens a refrigerator. She's
told me this is superbatum. She pulls the top part

(10:11):
off because the top part is like I guess, like chewy,
and it's like I guess the honey baker is on
the top of something child. I don't know, but she
will sit there in the middle of the night, go
downstairs like one two o'clock in the morning and get
the pieces of the honey dam and she is happier.
Oh my gosh, she's ever been. That is some Southern

(10:32):
That is a Southern thing. First, So I'm telling you
that Porsche swears by it. So maybe you should add
that robin to the things that you order. Okay, okay,
because that's that's easy to get. This is what I
totally love. Though I do feel like Thanksgiving is all
about apple cider. Yes, yes, yes, so I love. I

(10:54):
will make a m apple cider and fireball cocktail. Really, Robbie,
you've never let me try this. It's so good. Oh
my goodness. So is it? So do you heat it up?
Is it hot or is it cold? Um? Cold? It's cold,
So it's apple cider. But you can eat. You can
heat it up too, because I've gone like trick or
treating with hot apple cider and fireball. Yes, I've done

(11:19):
that hot apple cider and I just put you know,
my great goose in it. But fireball is going to
be even it's so good, gosh, it's perfect. Okay, I'm
loving that. Okay, So that's our drink for you guys
for this Thanksgiving or cold apple cider with some fireball. Baby.
We do want your you all to have a happy Thanksgiving.
And you know what, this year, I feel like we're

(11:41):
thankful for reasonably shady. Oh we are, absolutely, we have
so much to be thankful for. But you know, reasonably
shady is something that like we you know, we didn't
know how it was going to go or how we
were going to do. But I'm thankful that it's been
received very well. Yes, you all are enjoying it. We're
enjoying it. We appreciate our time that we spend together
as friends. Yes, indeed, yes, indeed. And don't let the

(12:03):
fact that we have totally trashed all Thanksgiving food be
a deterrent on Thursday. Eat your food if that's what
you like. Yes, I'm enjoying pato. Yeah I'm gonna be
sucking on my dry turkey. And wait a minute, what
is this is my this is what kills me? How
many different ways are they going to do stuffing stuff.

(12:26):
So there's like corn bread stuffing. Oh, it's just stuffing
turkey stuffinitely, all this damn stuffing, Like I don't want
no parts of stuff. And y'all enjoy your stuff, and
though enjoy it, yes, yes, all right, we love y'all.
We just want to give y'all a little something of us.
