Speaker 2 (06:01):
It was like the synergy for those of us who
are listening, Like the synergy was crazy. We met shout
out to comihane a conflict in Atlanta, vo and like
it was just like the sparks for this flying just flying,
it's flying, it's flying. And I was like, Ah, this
person's gonna say my life, Like I'm there. They're stuck
with me now, like it's over. No, And what's insane

(06:25):
is that our platforms have been within community sinsay, like
without us being conscious of it. Because back during Hurricane Maria,
I had made a post that was like you can't love.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
The culture and not love the people, and that.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Actually went viral because and of course I am well
within the the Aerrican community.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
I mean how not?

Speaker 2 (06:52):
And so I made a spreadsheet with like a lot
of organizations and so pretty a queer was there. So
when I find out that like and was like one
of the founders, I'm like, I've been supporting you for.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
And so I like loved it.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
It was like the universe was trying to pull this

it's not the same as the US. At least you're
not getting killed like the US. What the fuck are
you talking about?

Speaker 4 (10:43):
What you said?

Speaker 2 (10:44):
I mean, there's so much complexity to that. I appreciate that,
dum being that last part. I'm really chewing on the
last part because I get it. There is a desire
to kind of like distinguish the loke, the islake and

(11:09):

you know, so it's as seen important the domni right,
So like at the end of the day, Yeah, I

(11:30):
super appreciate that you said that, and this this desire
of like and I superget it. Any chance that I
get to distinguish myself from the United States, I.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Take it because what is this country?

Speaker 2 (11:45):
And I say that just because I mean, come on,
but the full regard of everything that's going on and
all of these initiatives, I feel like queer people, we
just be mining our business. We've been mining our queer
ass business and offer things right, people be so bothered,
and I'm just like, what is the issue, mama?

Speaker 3 (12:04):
But like when?

Speaker 2 (12:07):
But I don't want this to be a session of
trauma dumping because I think that there is amazing work.
I do want to give space for that, but I
also want to highlight the amazing work that you are
doing because it's revolutionary and I use that word very consciously.
And so Ghettoir, like, if you could tell me, like

(12:34):
a story that resonates with you regarding the impact that has.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
Okay, so I have the perfect story.

(16:48):
you'r meo mothers claro say mendre la bar right, Because
it's something that I, of course as an adult, as
as a young adult, and even as an older teenager,
that I was very aware of. I might not have
had the terminology, but I've gone educating myself over the

(17:10):
years and.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Your c.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Because let's be honest, it's very sis het, it's very
since head. When queerness is ever introduced, it's always in
a way that's very tokenizing, and it's like you can't
but I what I love is and where I'm going

(17:47):
with this in my point is that queer people we love,
like we expressed our bodies through Regton as well, like
we're everywhere, you know, and so as hypermacho as all
that is. You know, like there's been a reclamation always

(18:09):
by grey people as long as.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
Raton has existed.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
And so I would love to hear your thoughts on that,
you know, coming from your words.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
I definitely know my thoughts, but I would love to
hear yours because yeah, like, what is your experience as
a non binary person.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
With permera.

Fermentino Mascolino Bela. And I didn't want to reject that,
but also I didn't want to be like misgendered, because
you know, I'm not binary and I'm she her they them,
I'm not he him, But I think masculinity is also
part of identity and resort and as you and with

(21:57):
a song that I just find, let's like the dement

it mochosta and I said, and the land, you know,

Like Lime Wire, it was like a very interesting and

(23:59):
unique I had to be there to get it like
a download an album palm and then accidentally get you know,
the the Steve Jobs.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
Audio recording an accident or to hear flow music like
it was a time.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
It was beautiful, and so I love that you're on
this this path now because you're going backwards. It's even
better for you because Jack Cees they're like, yeah, you
can go back and you'll go down rabbit holes. And
you're like, I didn't know that they made this with
rock or this way, because even can pro for me

Speaker 3 (25:27):

Speaker 4 (25:27):
I love this. Yeah, and you know what process so

Speaker 5 (26:28):
Boni right now, Yankee the fun fact jo Yankee, And
like Glas, it was a very colonial song, you know,
Colong you go loke paso bao literal ies, I made

(26:54):
a very colonial song about it.

Speaker 4 (26:56):
But you know, come, okay, it's a it's a funny
story for me now anti colon. But yeah, it's that

(27:19):
I feel like that's that's so wonderful for me as
a queer person, to be honest, I love that for you.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
And your experience also reflects that of many Queer and
nine people because al finale, you know, because I consequence,
you know, like and so and and there's like an

(27:49):
exclusion that exists for a lot of people. Everybody doesn't
have a positive experience for I. I, of course I'm
an advocate, but I'm also a realist and I'm a
human being.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
And let's say so everybody is like at a different
place in their past. My first lecture with.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
I was challenged by someone who was like, Okay, but
what do you say to someone who who says that
this music is.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
Like what do you do?

Speaker 3 (28:21):
Like, what how do you defend that? And I'm like,
I can't. I can't. What I do say is that
if you wanted out.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
The music, take it out of culture, take it out
of real life, because at the end of the this
music reflects that experience.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
And it's true.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
It's true for every genre, but for some reason gets
a lot of flak for it. Right Existan, That's a classic.
But but yeah, and so moving forward, I do want
to touch on get a combat significant per combati.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
Go to some soon is This is La La La,
and I want to take a moment to reflect on
my conversation with Innaru, a non binary activist writer in
future Laari, who is one of the co founders of
Frombria Queer. As you all heard, this wasn't just a
regular interview.

Speaker 3 (42:17):
It was a.

Speaker 2 (42:17):
Dialogue rooted in memory, identity and the radical power of
reclaiming space inadu sharing how Sombria Queer started as a
simple Facebook page after Hurricane Maria, eventually becoming a full
fledged organization offering infographics, workshop and even a podcast. What
set out to me is that it wasn't born out

(42:39):
of theory or ambition.

Speaker 1 (42:41):
It came from necessity. They told me.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
About realizing that they and others like them weren't eligible
for traditional scholarships because of the way their identities existed
outside the boxes those systems recognized. I feel that so
instead of waiting to be included, they created something of
their own.

Speaker 1 (43:02):
I feel that too. That to me is what real
grassroots power looks like.

Speaker 2 (43:07):
When Annau introduced themselves as a non binary, transqueer person
from Amerio Puerto Rico, an activist, a PhD candidate, and more,
it was a reminder that our identities are expansive. Nado
exists in multiplicity and that informs their work. It's not
just personal, it's structural and it's grounded and lived experience.

(43:30):
There's a clarity in how they move that can only
come from surviving what the system tries.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
Their race.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
Okay, what really hit me was when they talked about violence, Okay,
how the Caribbean and specifically Puerto Rico can be both
beautiful and violent. The reference moments where leadership displayed a
total lack of understanding about non binary people, saying things
like I don't even.

Speaker 1 (43:58):
Know what that is and that rature is deadly Okay.

Speaker 2 (44:02):
Still INADU doesn't just talk about solution systems, change and
building something that lasts, okay. One story that stayed with
me and all of this was when they asked people
when did you first hear the.

Speaker 1 (44:17):
Word non binary?

Speaker 2 (44:19):
And people responded with four or five years ago, And
they said that was us, that was Friaqueer planning seeds.

Speaker 1 (44:26):
Oh my god, it's the impact for me. Now they
hear from teenagers.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
Whose parents support their transitions because their parents learned from Sombriaqueer.
That's the kind of cultural shift that algorithms can't measure.

Speaker 1 (44:40):
That's legacy, that's real.

Speaker 2 (44:42):
When we pivoted to Rayato, Innado was honest. They didn't
always feel connected to it growing up. It was linked
to bullying, gender policing, and machismo. But their perspective shifted
partly through the work of artists like Bad Bunny, who
opened space for more fluid expressions of gender and emotion.

(45:02):
I love that for them, They said, Ragaton helped them
connect with both femininity and masculinity and that healing.

Speaker 1 (45:09):
Is possible through that rhythm that blew me away.

Speaker 2 (45:12):
Inau spoke about how even within a hyper masculine genre
like regaton, there's always been space for queer reclamation. Okay,
if there's anything I want you guys to take away
