Speaker 1 (00:04):
One and one Handy Tech Tips for the iPhone. What's
going on? I'm Rich Demiro. This is Rich on Tech Daily. Well,
it is finally here. The project I've been working on
for the past six months and I've been planning for
nearly a year. If you follow me on Instagram Stories,
maybe you've seen a little glimpse of this. But it's
my new book, which is called one hundred and one
(00:25):
Handy Tech Tips for the iPhone. Now, originally I was
gonna write one hundred and one Handy Tech Tips. Then
I realized why not start with the device that I
get the most questions about, and that is the iPhone.
The book is on sale now and you can of
course read it on the kindle and buy it from Amazon,
but you can also buy it direct from me, and
that will give you all the files you need to
(00:45):
read it in pretty much any eReader or app of
your choice. It looks beautiful in iBooks, or you can
print out the PDF and read it that way, or
you can just read the PDF on your computer screen
or pretty much put it in any eReader app that's compared.
My goal was to pretty much make it readable on
any device. I think I accomplished that. All right, So
what's the book all about. Well, it's about all the
(01:07):
things I think that the average iPhone users should know about.
I take nothing for granted, and the best part is
all of the tips involve functionality built into the iPhone itself.
There is no need to download any third party software
for these tips. I knew a lot about the iPhone
before I started researching and planning this book, but now
I respect Apple even more for building pretty much a
one stop shop for just about everything you need to
(01:29):
do on a mobile device. You could probably be very
happy with the iPhone even if you never downloaded another
app ever again, but I know you're not going to
do that, because we all love our apps. But one
of the fun things about writing this book, which by
the way, took every minute I had outside of my
daily work day for several solid months, is that when
people would ask me a question about the phone, I
joke it's all in the book. Then I would send
them literally the passage for my book explaining the question
(01:51):
they just asked me, and most of the time it worked.
So there are the basics, like how to take a screenshot.
You'd be surprised how many people don't know how to
do that. I also explain too factor authentication so you
can secure your account better. How to change the brightness
of the flashlight on the iPhone. Did you know you
could do that? How to change your air drop preferences fast,
How to scan a QR code instantly, how to rearrange
(02:12):
car play icons, how to find the hidden search functions
in settings and messages. Then there are some of my
new favorites, like how to announce who's calling I've left
that one set up? And how to set up personalized
ring tones and text tones for specific contacts so when
my wife texts me, I can tell that it's her
texting because it sounds different than everyone else. I also
explain all the various ways you can reset your phone.
(02:34):
I talk about hidden camera features, how to scan documents
and even sign them. How to download the stuff that
you bought, like apps and movies to your other devices
you don't have to pay again. How to manage your
subscriptions and of course cancel those. How to create a
medical ID for emergencies, store your loyalty cards, delete those
lingering boarding passes, and also find the hidden iPhone redial key.
(02:55):
Then there's cleaning up your iCloud mess like deleting old
iCloud backups and optimizing the storage on your phone. I
also explain how to make sure your phone is properly
set up in case you misplace it or it's stolen, which,
by the way, I needed the other day when I
lost my phone. Thankfully, it was just misplaced. It was
hidden on a seat under the kitchen table. My wife
had placed it there when she wiped down the table.
(03:15):
But man, it took us a while to find that thing.
There are one hundred and one tips in all, and
everything I explain is in conversational tone and of course
easy to understand language. Now I know, since you're listening
to a podcast you already step ahead, but maybe you
know someone else who could use the help. I'm very
proud of this book, and before you wonder if it's
all null and void with a launch of iOS twelve
in the fall, yes, I kept the changes coming with
(03:37):
that operating system in mind, and I give you a
heads up in the book when a feature might change
slightly or get more functionality. But bottom line, I believe
anyone with an iPhone will learn from this book and
become a more confident user You'll also find out about
features you never knew existed, and when you do come
across the situation where you need to do something with
your phone, you'll be like, oh, yeah, I remember Rich
talking about that in his book. So how do you
(03:59):
get one hundred and one Handy Tech Tips for the iPhone. Well,
if you have a Kindle or you use the Kindle app,
just search for it on Amazon. You can buy it
direct from there, Or if you want to use iBooks, Nook, Cobo,
or read or print the PDF, you can buy the
book direct from me. I'm using a great service that
handles the transaction and it delivers the files in three
different formats, so you get it all for one price
(04:19):
and you have the flexibility to read it as you like.
I really hope you check it out again. It's called
one hundred and one Handy Tech Tips for the iPhone.
