Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm rich Dumuro and this is Rich on Tech.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
When you think about a dash cam, you think probably
something you'd like to have, but it's a little too
complicated in everyday life. Unless you're an uber driver, unless
you have an actual use for one, the average person
isn't necessarily buying these. But I really love the idea
of a dash cam because it does watch everything that's happening.
It's kind of like your little eye and it gives
you some more confidence on the road. The major downside

(00:25):
with most dash cams is that they're not very good.
The picture quality is not very clear, and getting the
video off that dash cam, well, you'll pretty much never
do that because it's kind of a pain.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Well, enter the Vava cam.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
I've been testing this out for a couple of weeks
now in my car, and I have fallen in love
with it. It is the simplest to use dashcam that
is actually full.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Of a lot of great features.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
So first off, when you set this thing up, the
design of it is great. There's no screen on it,
so it's not distracting at all. You have a suction
mount to your windshield. Then the actual dash cam is
magnetically mounted to the suction mount.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
So you can remove it.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
You can swivel it three hundred and sixty degrees, and
they even give you a little tool for running all
the cables, a little pri tool so you can run
the cables clean inside your car, and there's really not
a tough part about setting it up. There's also a
GPS module that you stick onto your windshield so all
of your videos get stamped with exactly where they were taken.
So once you have this thing set up, it basically

(01:22):
becomes a DVR for your windshield, so it is recording
continuous video when you turn on your car, from the
moment you turn on your car to the moment you
turn off your car, so anything that happens in front
of your car, or if you have the camera swiveled
inside your cabin of your car, it will capture what's
going on. And I have a thirty two gigabyte card

(01:42):
in there that will give you about a four hour loop,
So when it's done with that four hours, it'll just
re record over the first part, kind of like a
DVR does.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
You can get a bigger card if you want. The
memory card is sold separately. There's also a feature called
a capture button.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
So there's a little bluetooth button that you stick somewhere
in your car. You can put on your windsheet on
your dashboard, and if you press that button, if you
press it once, it'll take a snapshot, like a little
picture of whatever you see outside. You see something interesting,
take a snapshot. You want to record a twenty second clip,
just press and hold the button for a few seconds
and it will now start recording a clip. And the

(02:18):
difference between these clips and the DVR functionality is that
those never go away, so those will stay on the
memory card forever for safekeeping.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
So if you're trying to capture.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Something that you want to remember, or if you just
want to capture an event that you don't want deleted,
you can go ahead and press the capture button. Now,
this is the best part about the Vava cam transferring
the video.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
You never have to.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Take an SD card out of this thing. It connects
to your phone wirelessly via a Wi Fi network. So
once you connect it, you can see a live view
of what's on the camera, but you can also go
back and comb through the footage. You can do it
minute by minute or every three minutes, and you can
download any clip that you want right to your smartphone.
It's super fast, it's super easy, and it's the best

(03:00):
implementation I've ever seen of a dash cam.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Because you'll actually download the footage. So you took a
cool drive.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
There are some fog you want to get a little
capture of that posted a Facebook. Someone blew through a
stop sign, You want to post that and make fun
of them.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Sure you can do that. And yes, the video is HD.
It's high quality.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
You can make out faces and license plates as well.
So I would say my only downside to this camera
is that I wish it recorded the front and the
back at the same time, or even better yet three
hundred and sixty degrees. I think that'll come in a
future update, but for right now, just having the front
of your car is really nice as well.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
One more feature I want to tell you about the
G sensor.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
There is a sensor inside so if your car is
hit while it's parked, or if someone jostles your car
even it will trigger a twenty second recording. So that
means that your car is basically protected even when it's parked.
So you can adjust the sensitivity of the G sensor.
That feature is not turned on by default, So if
you get one of these, definitely make sure you remember

(03:59):
to turn that on. And the battery inside the device
lasts about thirty days. Keep in mind you do have
to keep this thing powered by connecting it to what
used to be called the cigarette lighter in your car,
but now is just the DC adapter, So there is
you know, continuous power through that, but then when your
car is off, it is self powered through a battery inside.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
There you have it. Vava Dashcam really really like this thing.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
You just feel confident being on the road when you
have a dash cam. It's it's just a nice feeling
to have. And this is the one that you will
actually use. It's not distracting, and I find that it's
really the best one I've ever tried.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Normally it sells for one hundred and thirty dollars.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I talked to Vava, I said, look, can you get
this price down to under one hundred dollars for listeners
of rich On Tech And they did. They caught it
to under ninety six dollars. So if you want the
code for this Vava dashcam, you could order on Amazon.
Just go to rich On Tech dot tv and look
for the Vava cam, have a great day.
