Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, it's speedy, and this is Rick and Bubba's Greatest
tits flashing back through thirty one years of Radio Gold
every Saturday morning, wherever you get your podcast, it's Rick
and Bubba's Greatest.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Tis Ricking Bubba, Rick and Bubba.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Well, if you remember last year, you and I thank
you for this. Took my dad deer hunting to where
he bagged a ten point buck. I think it weighed,
you know, somewhere between the high one hundreds to the
low two hundred.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
I remember him saying the biggest deer he had ever shot.
And I wear that that title proud.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Okay, all right, so you do also know, and my
brother Gregis is making his way to his seat too
because he hears me speaking of mom and dad. You
also know that they just celebrated forty six years of
marital bliss. I mean just coming off of forty six anniversary.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
You know.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
I saw them at a little league game this week,
and the night before they had celebrated and went to
a Swinkie you little get away and went out to
had a romantic dinner together. And you try to keep
your mind of thinking of other things since it's your
mom and dad. But you know, they have a smile
on their face and for some reason, they were just
joyful about a Little League game. You know, they just
had that look on their face that they were madly
(01:14):
in love. And forty six years and the impact that
their marriage has had on us and so many of
how marriage is to be done. And then I heard
a conversation prior to the anniversary, and my dad is
somewhat obsessive. He reminds me of someone that I won't mention,
but he knows who is who can be a little
obsessive about things. And if my dad, if my dad
(01:38):
gets something on his mind, Greg, I know you understand this,
he's gonna, he's gonna, he's gonna worrk oh boy if
he gets something on.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
His boy head.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Well, the current thing on his mind is when is
my deer head gonna be ready? From the deer I
shot at Bubba's Okay, I apologize, Bo. And he asked
me about.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
You've got to get it up before this season starts.
That's the rule.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Well, he asked me about it, and and then my mom,
on about the fiftieth time he asked me about it,
my mom says, well, you just need to let Rick
keep that he can put it up down the farm,
and he says, oh, no, no, no, I'm putting that
up at.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Our house, the biggest deer he'd ever shot.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
And my mom says, so, well, no you're not. You've
already got deer heads up and there's not gonna be anymore.
And that says, oh, yes, I am. And so then
it kind of ended, and I thought to myself, for heck,
I'm not worrying about that, because it's gonna be a
wild for that deer heads even ready, it takes almost
a year to get them done.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Nine months.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Well, I got the call ready that Dad's deer head
is ready, and I'm headed to that area today and
probably gonna pick it up. So I realized that within
forty eight hours of a celebration of forty six years
of marital bliss. Do I just here's my options. Do
(02:59):
I avoid the flick, put it up at the barn
and just never.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
Bring your dad's gonna say where is it?
Speaker 2 (03:05):
And I say, I got it up down at the barn.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Or do I today place that call out of obligation
and say, hey, Dad, your dear heads ready, let.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Me get it to you.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Well, Rick, this really is not track. Help me, you
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
This is not fight, I know, but I feel I
know I'm bringing controversy with big horns right into right
into their world.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
I bet your dad would make the deal, bring in
the deerhead, get rid of Toby.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
I believe you're right. Swap deerhead for Toby.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
That is that is, that's my brother in law that's
currently living with my mom and dad with my sister
while they're searching for a new home and where they
have a job.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Now, it's it's tough to go home.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
It is, it's very hard to every you know, the
twins probably can stay. But but I think he'd probably
trade that out pretty quick. Uh but as any of
us probably would, you know, if we're in the situation. Yeah, well,
everybody with any with any son in law, I mean,
you know.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
Where they have any luck or they uh place, I
mean it's a buyer's market.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Well, but they got to sell one though it's not
a seller's mark. Oh okay, well that could take years.
By the way, if anybody would like a nice home,
especially for a family that would just like to buy
their first home, it's a great first home. Maybe you're
out on your own for the first time, and you'd
like to live in Koleira. Contact me. I got your house,
that's right, I mean a good one in Koleira. Cash
(04:23):
for starters. Look, I want to I want to help
my sister. I want to help my my brother in law,
my gosh. I want to help my my niece and nephews,
and I really want to help mom.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Dad.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
You want to create some room for that deerhead down there.
So Greg, here's what I heard. Do you think who's
going to deliver? You know that's you. You want to
go that way? You one goes that way. I'm bringing
it to you Monday at the the driveway. And she
knows I got it.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Do I just take the dealer. Let's let Toby take
it in. Yeah, that's perfect.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
By the way, Toby take it in and tell him
that the dad said, go ahead and hang let's give it.
Just give it to the brother in law and let
him mark it, march in with it. I mean, do
the great beast man walking anyway.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
You'll remember on Dumb and Dumber when they were trying
to get the guy to eat the sandwich. It's just
covered out peer and they go here, you go ahead
and try yours right right?
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Yeah, so Greg, you just calmly give it Toby, say, Toby,
go ahead and take that deer here to day and
the discover your mouth and try not to laugh.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
He said, go ahead and hang it right there in
the living room.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
So when he comes in it'll be up.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Oh he'll love that. Is there one he can take
down and replace this one with?
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Well, I was going to suggest that, could he give
me one of the the smaller deer, I take it
to the farm. He just replaces it with the bigger deer. Right, Well,
here's what you have. My dad is extremely hard headed, really, Rick,
how about this?
Speaker 4 (05:41):
Are you kidding?
Speaker 3 (05:41):
How about this burgess? But how about this? Show's my
mom and she's never been ready known for her ability
to compromise.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
So it's going to be a standoff there.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Now he'll usually back down, but he he really wants
that deer head up. Can he trade one of the
other ones for that one? That's what I hope, that's
what I would That was brought up.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
And you think that's a comp from eyes a workable comparable.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Well here's the thing there's get cold. Well, no, here's
the thing that he obsesses over. Okay, he has always
wanted to. He's got three deer heads down. There's one
that I shot, one Greg shot when he shot.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
He loves that. The sons and the dead right.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
He's always wanted to take the biggest one I've ever
shot and bring it there. He hates that I have
it hit away at the house. And then he wants
to put this one there.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
So he wants he wants that like the Burgess and
their deer.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
He wants he wants the two, the three, the three
hates he's got right, and then he wants to add
two tins and and and and mom has is.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
There a spot for Toby's deer up there?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Well, you know, I don't know that Toby hunts a lot.
There may be a spot for Toby's head.
Speaker 5 (06:42):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
The h also known as Nathan Chiles, the Southern Love
Gun Wrestling.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
That wrestling. Now they have the dog with him. Uh,
the dogs listening, appreciate you. That dog that came in here.
I hope he went to school.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Yeah, they just stopped crying about it about about a
week ago, so so thanks me.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
And no, they won't be putting him up on the wall.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Greg, the one that came in here. It looks so lively,
but not not so much. Now use the restroom in
our kitchen.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
That's no Toby caught it. That's right, right, Kobe's probably
been catching a lot of that. But but but all right.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
So so here's what I'm hearing from you, Bubba. Listen,
when I say this, you tell me no, Rick, you
have it wrong, or just like you're right. I'm gonna simply,
calmly and innocently go to the area where the taxidermis
is today, receive the deer head, give it to Greg,
and then I'm out.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
This is not your battle.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
Then I've got to take it into the war zone,
right and deliver it, which somehow, some way.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
You know I want to do.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
I'm gonna set it in the garage and setting his
boat out there and let him deal with I think
we give it to Toby.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
I like the idea of letting Toby run in he.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Won't know no better, and telling tell the kitchen with it, Toby.
It'll mean a lot to your day if he goes
ahead and hangs it so it's there when he comes in.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
And he will this one upstairs, not down.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
So listen, this is a special if you if you
had right over, if you had seen my mother's face
when she just thought it was simply going to the farm.
And he goes on, now I want that one up
here where I'm at and her face, and I'm like, oh.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
What, Yeah, I'm afraid. I'm afraid. This is not y'all's battle.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
So I'm just gonna get the deer head, call him,
tell him I got it, and I'm out right.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Putting it in the boat. I'm putting in the boat.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
And then Greg either puts it in the boat or
gives it to Toby.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Right, do we all agree? Do we all agree? That's all?
And then he's out. But the key for you, Greg
is to get out of there quick. Do I use
my key and sneaking and hang it?
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Bubba ricking bubba. But you were telling us that you
had a deer processing situation, go bad.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
What happened?
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Well, not that I want to be dog like Wentz
for getting out and hunting, but.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Right a little bit, you busted. You're busted. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
The week after Christmas, it's usually my hunting sabbatical where
we go out and spend a little time in the
woods and uh we uh we we have a hunting
place we hunt and we have a really really good
processor there and a little shout out to r n
H Process and do a great job, mister Ritchie. And uh,
you know, usually when you get your your deer process,
(09:20):
you get it somewhere excuse me choked up thinking about it.
You get your deer process kind of close by, you know,
where you're you're actually doing the hunting. Yeah, and we
we used to have a guy that did a lot
of our stuff when we hunted over close to you.
Rick and Jamison love him, and I don't get to
see him that much now, I said. He usually once
(09:40):
or twice a year, we'll run a deer over there.
Just check you in, say all the time.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
But he's the best summer sausage process, right.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Every He does a good job with that, he really does.
And so you know, most of the stuff goes to
my local guy, and then every now and then I'll
care something over. Well, we had some guests down and
one of them was Royn mcory Oracle, who you know
is good friend of mine. And Ryan had casually mentioned
that if we get a few deer tonight that he
(10:07):
would volunteer to run that over to David Davenport's who
is our other process?
Speaker 2 (10:13):
I'll stop you right there.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
So what what's the what's the thinking on that? Why
would you why would you go far away and take someoney.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Well, our local guy that does most of our meeting
does a great job, does not do summer sausage. So
if we want summer sausage, we have.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
To go to that.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
It makes sense, and it's it's good to go and
visit because we you know, we don't get to see
him like we used to. So and uh so he
he had volunteered to do that, and he was gonna
do that, and I hated from the drive over by
hisself and we had several folks there. I said, hey, Ryan,
look all right over with you, you know, because he
didn't know the way.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
You say it like that.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Yeah, said, I tell you what, let me get my
boots off, all right over with you.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Even though you don't sound like you really wanted to.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
No. I thought he'd be a great time to catch
up and visit. You know, when somebody comes to hunt
and you say hello and everybody gets out and standing
really don't get a lot of time socialized.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
So I thought to be.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Good and I know the way over there. And you know,
when I give directions, it's like, go down to stop sign,
take a right when it teas go right again, go
over the interstate, go by up to the high school,
take a left.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
You'll be right there. Right.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
You know, Now that's a that's an hour and fifteen
minute trip, right, I just told you.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
That's all you say, and you here throwing Greg's lining
the right with those two black and tangent.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
I try to stay with more, you know, bigger landmarks
like stop signs and highways. But so we're gonna go
over there. And it was the first trip for the year,
and I knew how to go there. I drove it myself,
and I thought, I thought, just as a backup, I'm
going to because I know, you go to a high
school and you take a left, and he's about four
(11:44):
miles down that road. So I thought, just just for backup,
I'm going to Google the way to that high school,
just just to have a little backup.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Right.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
So I get in there and I say, you know, Google,
give me directions to this high school. So okay, we
got it, and we're going along. We're getting the turns,
and you know, we're out there I thought, you know,
it seems to me that the road is a little
a little more out in the country than I remember,
you know. So we're going along, going along, and it's
(12:18):
always just right here. I mean, it's just a few
minutes away, all right. Well, we're making turns and making turns,
and I'm like, in the back of my mind, I'm thinking,
I don't remember this many turns on this.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Tree on real dark too, probably old dark and cold,
dark and cold.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
So hey, one mile away the school, I said, Well,
we get one mile. It's one turn to the left
and we're right there. So we pull up to the
school and we're at the school, you know, the phoniest
thing you have arrived. And I'm looking and I'm going,
this ain't the school that you turn at to go
to the process. And I you know, I get to
looking on the school board and it says, uh Isabella
(12:56):
High School. Oh my goodness, Isabella.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
I thought, is Bella. It's bound by the farm.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Yeah, I thought, no, I want to be at Thorstby
High School. And this is not it.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
You know, those two names don't even sound the same.
Oh no, they come up with Isabella.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Well, Isabella is close to the north right, and so
we Shane David, we've been by there a lot of times,
and in my mind I just thought Isabella high School.
I don't know why when it's clear.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Grabbed a random landmark in that area, habit of driven
by one.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
And it's darky's large and can turn around, dark and cold.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Get my boots up, I can take you to it.
We're right over.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Hey, you pull your pass all right over?
Speaker 2 (13:44):
We how to get there? Backup, so I know where
we're going. But that's a backup. I'm gonna hit this landmark. Simple.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
So we try to get back on the phone and
figure out the quickest way to go from that high
school to the high school I need to be at. Well,
this is that point just like you were talking about
earlier today in my office, we have no cell service there.
Your maps, your maps and all don't work without any
seale service. You can't do anything with it. So I said, well, Ryan,
(14:13):
let's just drive this way and we'll see what we
run into.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
We'll get back in sel service.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Well, we're going down the road. It's not looking good.
I mean it's going from road to driveway kind of look. Yeah,
oh yeah, we're already late. We should already been there.
So we're we take another turn. We're driving around, driving around,
and we're lost as we could be out just out
in the county. And I'm trying to figure out and
get sell service and see where we're at. And we
(14:38):
drive and I go, wait a minute, stop the car.
We just passed the little North farm, right, okay, I said, okay,
I know where I am. Now I know where I am.
We got to go back up here to take So
we get back on the road. We finally get over
to David's place and he said a and Ryan was
only about it, And I said, do you know that
is that's just on me? You know really because it
(14:58):
was a high school but it was not the right one.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Well, I may I say now what I'm almost certain
with maybe the option of ten twelve people on behalf
of the one point two million people that are saying
the same thing in their mind right now listening. Why
did you not just put in David's taxidermy and processor
well at the very beginning and let it take you
right to it.
Speaker 4 (15:19):
Because I knew that I didn't need to do that
if I just turned it to school.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Right, But if you to put in the name of
the place.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
Will you accept this? I couldn't spell Taxidermy, but if you.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Just googled it, it would come to you think that
school was Isabella High School that you normally turned.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Out No, well what it is. Because of my time
at the Leonor's and because of looking at some property
out there, I just simply plugged Isabella High School into
the into the hole.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
That should have been here. Greg.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
Listen, Greg, I can't spell Taxidermy, but Isabella I got.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
And I'm still missing why he thought Isabella High School? Yeah, well,
I know them both. I know them both, and I
just plugged one. I mean they're not They're They're fairly
close in the same county.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
And I knew it was right down there. I've been by.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Don't you know the name of David's place? Yeah, well
it was David if you put in their processing in Jemison. Yeah, Rick,
I have the I have the full address. Now it'll
be easy to go to. I know exactly how to
get there. Oh my goodness, but I was right.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
I got it.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Hey, long day, Hunt, I got there. It's a second trip,
you know, early on set, all that stuff.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
You know. Let me ask you this because you know
I'll go to David's all time because.
Speaker 6 (16:42):
It's very very very close to where I hunt where
we have but so have you an say, we.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Almost got some land over there one time to hunt
next to the lower so I was familiar with.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Yeah, but but it.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
Looks different in the dark, I tell you that.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
So what I'm talking about when you pulled up the
little fellow take care of you. The little guy that
the little kid that runs, a.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
Little boy that run that you pull up, he'll run
the whole thing where I'm talking about you.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
I never said right now.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
I tell you the line the system that got set.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Up there, the number one bubba ubba.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Uh. One of the things we were talking about. Greg.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
I know you left us on on from the weekend
you and the great Gerald cats uh went went out
to now y'all, y'all were going to go old school,
you know, back back to the the the days of
us hunting.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
And go ramping. You you're walking in you climbing trees.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
Go barefooted, wearing a long cloth.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Exactly spears. We were actually spear hunting.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
So you guys, we do have a season for that.
We just state, don't laugh.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
That is a fact. That is a fact, so you
went to so Jeraldkates, they were already down there. I went,
I went down and meadow.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
And this is on public land, Barbican Management area. You
know all that old screw Greg, How did you ever
agree to go hunt and come back and sleep in
the tent. I'm gonna tell you that I loved everything,
but there's nothing good about a tent.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
I don't care tints. Look, I mean, look at what's
nothing The lapping one last night and I've.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Had a cot to get me up off the ground.
That helps, but it's still a tint. And I got
on a tents and you get caught. It's kind of cold.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Had to get up there, get it open.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Yeah, you know, and all these zippers they got on
these tents and you said, well, this is a zipper
you un zipping.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
There's a mesh there. Well, how am I going to
get out through this mesh?
Speaker 3 (18:34):
You know, first of all, at in my age, you
got to get up the middle of the night and
go to the bathroom, it seems like. And look, I
finally got a little bit warm and I woke up
and I got to go to the back. I'm fighting it.
Also ignored it because I was warm.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
You had it like I like it.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Sure finally got once I got to go. So I'm
over and I'm zipping and there's a mess up the
zipped it back up. Well there's the other side.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
There's me.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
I can't get out, and I'm about to go through
the screen. You just just use it right through the screen,
right and uh. Chris Reeves was with us Gerald's cousin
and Chris he happened to get out for the same
reason from the other tent.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
And I say, hey, you gotta let me out. So
what you couldn't get out? I couldn't out to me zipper.
I mean there's a lot of zippers and they got
little pockets.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Oh that's a pocket that ain't there's a mash I finish, say,
look out, mash.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Do you have how farted cach run with that one?
He could have? He was in ten women. He slept
through it when swisly wake him up.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Look, you had to get me out to see when
these people just sleep on a rock.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
Did y'all have one of them? Show enough good ones
in case you had a bear or something coming on
a bear. They were in a tent a v.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
I don't had a lot of bear attacks in Barbier County.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Lauren Laura more.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Every day we had plenty of food out there, he'd
just eat it. We had we had deerburger's laying out
because he was so cold. You had to putting nothing up.
Warmed up Saturday. But this was like Friday night, Thursday,
in the fat night. You just leave you hamburger out
there and just started in again morning. No big deal.
So so when you when you go to a place
that's thousands of acres and it's it's state run, how
(20:07):
do you how do you even.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Know where to go? Well, they had they were familiar
with it. That will help.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
You had to have a permit to go on.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Oh yeah, you get all that.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
But but then I heard daily You know they got
the way in station you check in as far as
the check you don't do that because you have to
check out everything and kill anyway through them. And you
get a daily permit on the top of you you
have a management air license and then regular license.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
And then every day they give you a new permit.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
But so I said, up, really good, but they knew
you and then but plus, but once you get in and
get to walk in and just.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Try to look for sign, find you a good tree
to climb, and away you go.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Yeah, well you couldn't get a walter out to the
stat Friday quick enough of you and your dad's rifle.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Yeah, that was just for you.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
That's the one that made God said, Yeah, I'm up
in the tree, Greg with dad's rifle.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
That should be mine. Once I do the typical I'm
sitting there.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
You get up in the tree and I look around,
and we hunted hard, and I got to look around, said.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
God, I wish I was over there, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
And then when right before I said, I'm gonna come
down thirty minutes before we're coming out, and I'm gonna walk,
and sure enough I go back further and I thought, God,
wish I'd have been back here.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
It's just a lot to it is.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Take him the short periods up. So and then you
said Saturday, you tried to fake her by off hunt middle.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Of the day. Yeah, we went.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
Actually the guy beside us had killed a big eight
point Friday, and he goes, I ain't go out to
ten o'clock. He said, I do it every time I
go out there, and everybody starts walking in, they run
the deer right on me and in jerre.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Them hunting the day before, and they didn't move to
the middle of the day, so we went. They moved.
We just didn't say you could shoot a dough or
a buck.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
And Chris when the guys are, he killed a doe
because he wanted some meat.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
But I seen some dough.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
I could have killed a dough, but I don't want
to fool with it because nobody at home eats it
but me. Yeah, so I really don't need it. Yeah,
the deer lasted a long time every time I got on,
so you know that.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
So it was. And did Kate prank you at all?
Or he leave you alone?
Speaker 5 (21:46):
Or not?
Speaker 3 (21:47):
He didn't now again because I know how to deal
with And don't ask him if he's seen anything, because
he's gonna make it up.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Well I've seen a good ten.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Don't text him, go you see anything, or he'll say, hey,
he's the teen coming your way. I don't give I
know what he does. I don't give him them other boys,
he drove them nuts. He gets some new blood. Oh yeah,
you don't let another camper come over and start talking.
Oh y'all do it again? Well, Greg shot a good hate,
but he can't find it. He'll just my off time
his head. You know, I bet he just totally harasses
(22:17):
of the camp. Yeah, so how close are you to
the other? Oh, you're right there on top of each other.
That place a look like Talladega. They were campers, they were,
and look was funny on your way out they were
deer since it was you know, either sex hunt. They
were deer strung up everywhere. A lot of deer killed.
And you drive through the camp on the way out
and people over there just to skinning them.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
That's awesome. Did he did he ever give him buy
a one two way back?
Speaker 3 (22:43):
He just we stupped to eat on the way home.
And it's foreigner, bless his heart on where he's from.
I was trying to order in front of us, and
Joe got trying to help him order. Hey, buddy, I
don't know if you want that. He get in there
with him. You know, he.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Asked you said you finally got it all worked down,
didn't you?
Speaker 3 (22:59):
You know that guy looking so he was questioning, saying,
now you don't know if you want that.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Lisa named you.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
But yeah, now they had been going at it. See
they went down earlier in the week they went to
a different place. They were about four days in. They
were about worn out time.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
I bet they were. But that's sleeping in ten every
night stuff. Now, I do not like you know.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
I'm I'm all about being out there, love getting out
there in the middle of the wilderness. But when it's
time to wrap it up for the day, I gotta
have more intent without than cot. Getting you off the
ground is a good idea, But you sleeping, But that
helped you. Took the cot from here. I took that
blue cote do.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
He did good.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
He was a little a little widely. They had these
others that were a little more narrow, probably been better.
So who's tent you in? Because you ain't got Gerald
and they already had tents. So it's just a little
Papa just.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
Ain't nothing, you know. We I'm talking about to Jerald
do it thing like I got a little two of
red for Greg bro.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
He said, we're gonna put you in any reps out of us.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Because I come up and it ain't no. Yeah, there
is right beside everybody.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Here's this thing that he's he loves to get something
going that gets on everybody's nerves.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
Of course, and he really don't care if he does
it anyway, this was his thing. Hey closed that door,
and I don't want that smoke get intent.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
Yeah, so every time somebody downs intent, you know, and
it was open because you're.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Going to hey, hey close that door. You don't want
that smoke getting intent. He did that the entire time.
Everybody goes come on what he lives for. But he
doesn't care. No, he really didn't care. He just wanted
to tell you that because he knew it bothered.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Well, it's like you remember that time j T, who
worked with us for years and still out there, you know,
making it happen. When when JT was anxiously awaiting our arrival,
when we were all hunting together, and Jared would keep
claiming that there they are.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Made JG go the door and j C fell for it.
Every time I got the comes racking how.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
They are.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Finally got here? Look again, j T asked me, said,
what's wrong with him? Lisa man hugg and Chris rees
his cousin is just as bad. No, I mean yeah,
I mean I had two of them going.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
So when you're on all fours trying to get out
of that thing, you can't find the zipper and you're
crawling around and you.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Start, you know, and I can't see.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
I mean, there's why you gotta have so many flaps
and stuff. How about one zipper in and out right?
Speaker 2 (25:18):
You did you hear all the wildlife out there? Or
not so great?
Speaker 4 (25:21):
But everybody who's hunting on the management you camp at
one place.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Well, there's different areas, but on your way in, you
get down the road, a lot of people have campers
they bring and they leave them there. You're around and
then we got back in the park. We just had
tents popped up everywhere.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
But you don't like get a piece of property you're
hunting on and you camp.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
On no, no, no, no, you're camping area and then you
drive out every day. See I got the map right here.
You go out and you know where you're going. But you'
all camp in one place. You can't just camp in
the wood. We don't know where you're going.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
You got out. I do now. I had to learn
it when I got there. It's go roll home Hanging
Tree Road. That's where he's at. Fifteen minutes fast, we'll
be back eight six six. We be big bricks. Don't
know what I want to smoke and hey, guys, don't
let me smoke it me right back.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Ricking Bubba, ricking Bubba. All right, So you know, I
just realized I need to send Adler, who spent some
pictures up like the mud pictures we just saw from
Bubba's trip.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
With he and super Time went out. Super Time got
a deer. Uh.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
We went out this past uh, this past Friday's been
doing this for a lot of years.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
Didn't get Rick before you do that? I don't Greg
to know I how to come along too? If oh,
did you you're prepared?
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Yeah, it's it's almost like you know, Greg was you know,
he was kind of looking at you like you know,
I'm not.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
I could not get a piece of tin out of
my mind after hearing Greg talk there's many time.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Could you almost hear in the back?
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Did I have it in a trailer behind them? Or
how do they do?
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Yeah? We if we knew were going to a rough spot,
we put it in the post trailer.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
Do you ever did you hear g had to get
me a tin trailer?
Speaker 2 (26:53):
There it is?
Speaker 3 (26:54):
Did you hear in the background Greg saying I don't
know if we got two bulls off.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
I ain't because I like a good mud sticking. It
ain't nothing like.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
Well, let me tell you there was one point and
uh that I thought, well, and it was raining and
we were about as far away from home as I
could get, so it was gonna be a haul get
back in and Rick. Let me tell you know me
and y'all joke me about I wear snake boots year round.
It very very few times do I ever wear rubber boots.
The only time I do it is when I go
(27:22):
to dream wrecks. I don't think I've ever wore rubber boots.
Where we were hunting this weekend until Sunday, it was.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Wearing snake boots when it's twenty degree. Greg was just
full protection. You never know, Well you might as well
wear a motorcycle coming too.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
Then, well, we we've been out. We were dog hunting
close to you. Fall of One time I shot a
snake and it was I was with freezing.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
I was with you. It wasn't moving. I couldn't believe it.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Well, I don't know that's it was big and it
was moving how fast it is moving?
Speaker 2 (27:57):
But it was moving.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
You know that it was degrees.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
If you're talking about the feared, the very feared winter rattler. Yes, yes, yes, guys,
he got out.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
There own rock, warming himself up.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
I couldn't believe it, I really could. That is weird.
I saw things different a lot that Rick kid nearly
stepped on it too.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Just when I had kind of put it away. Hey,
there's a time of year you don't have to worry
about this, but there it is.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
No, that's all you needed. That was it? All right?
Speaker 3 (28:22):
So so we we were going, and we we've gone
there for years as a matter of fact, that the
Wingos were producing pictures of all our kids when they
were just tiny little things. So so we we headed
out with your good friend Rich Wingo, who has invites
us toward the the what used to be it's not
anymore in our state, but it used to be the
(28:43):
last weekend of our American white tail deer hunting season
in Alabama. But they've now extended that to February the tenth,
so this is not the last weekend anymore. But he's still,
you know, for them down there, they're kind of getting
ready to kind of wrapped up the season. So uh
so we were we were able to go and it
was great and it was me and then two of
my sons, Brooks and Brody, Big Love and tasks. Uh.
(29:05):
And then Speedy got down there, and then Juliette Tango
j T Baba.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
J T is just he's precious, and he is a.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Precious I mean, but j T. It's like j T
is so you know, fearful of everything that there's nothing
that ever enters JT's mind. Hey, I'm a guess, let
me be low maintenance. That never enters JT's mind. He's
he's petrified of certain things and he would like for
everybody to adapt to it. I think j T he's
(29:35):
more concerned about being killed than actually killing something.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
You know, he needs to be that liability guy for
some big company, you know that just looks for exposure everywhere.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
Because and he's always the woe is Me? Like, oh
right there, put me out there with the walko. You
what's gonna you know? What do we are?
Speaker 2 (29:53):
You looking around?
Speaker 3 (29:55):
You know, he starts doing these scenarios, these dooms Day scenarios,
and what's going to happen to him? At one point,
I said, JT, you do know that hunting involves going
out in the woods.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
You know.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
At one point, I think they almost had him talked
into staying back at the house because they have a
green field offer, you know that one offer to the
side and just let him sit on the port across.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Well, Rick, I was in the same cart going out
the first the very first hunt of the weekend, and
there was there was a y in the road and
I was going to go to the left and he
was going to the right, and Rich said, okay, JT.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
It's two or three hundred yards.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
I got a walk going and it gives Yeah, it's
just it's two or three hundred yards.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Well, what if what if something comes out? I mean,
what about the pigs and what about the meth labs.
It was like, no, buddy, there's no math labs on
our property. Okay.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
And then he goes, well what if I can't find it, JT.
This road runs into the green field. Matter of fact,
you would have to step over the shooting house, which
you can't do. You're gonna be okay, well, okay, let
me give my pistol, but you don't need your pistol.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Just he was really distraught. He did not want to walk.
Oh wait, he said, he said, we're driving down there.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
I do I said, I don't JJ, I don't have
any idea. No, I'd like to see a shooting house,
you know, maybe drop me about twenty feet from it.
I like to be up off the ground. It's not nothing,
you know. He got some, by the ways. Yeah, and
then they start telling horror stories of rat and nest
and stuff.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
JT's looking at me at face.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
He puts on, well, you Rick, in fairness missed. Everybody
thinks about They think about those kind of things. You
just don't say anything.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
Right of course, Then everybody in JT was like god.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
So so first of all, look, let me tell you something, Bobby.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
You know, you get a test of this.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Please in your mind, don't picture that when you go
to hunt this place that you're anywhere near a civilization, right, you.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
Were so far.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
I mean, it's like one of those things where you
tell your wife, here's the number to the actual house,
that's the landline. You will not hear from me for
the next two days. Yeah, there's no story. I can't
get anything going, you know. And then I said to JT,
have you lost?
Speaker 2 (31:58):
So he's looking around as we're taking in the turn.
You got some?
Speaker 3 (32:02):
And I'm like, no, I don't have any. You're gonna
have a lot of cells in there. What are we
get to communic?
Speaker 2 (32:05):
What some hem? What if I need help?
Speaker 1 (32:07):
You should have heard him ask up Rich and Sherry
Wingo if what what the Wi Fi password?
Speaker 3 (32:12):
Was?
Speaker 2 (32:13):
The Wi Fi?
Speaker 6 (32:16):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (32:16):
What's the wi great? Greig? What hope? But I said, well,
I said, I said.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
All right, if you're in trouble, shoot aim an they
or twice what are you cares?
Speaker 2 (32:27):
Here? Two times it means what three three?
Speaker 3 (32:29):
The two times it means we need help? Three times
mean oh my gosh, it's real bad. One, I said.
Then I wanted didn't want tell him one because I
thought he chewed every now and then just.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
To check it.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
Yeah, and so so anyway, so he's constantly concerned.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
What was did you know whe're going? Does he talk
to you about it? Where we gonna sip? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (32:48):
So but j T it was one of those things
where you really and I kind of felt bad for
you know, if you weren't you know, And I couldn't
be negative about the forecast because I got ostracized.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
For that several times by Wingo that I was. I
was being a downer about to for Hey, burgees, we
gotta have you up. You got to get up.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
And I'm like, man, I test rains go ahead the
morning he goes to stop. And then of course every kind.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
Hey, it didn't it.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Let's get to go and listen.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
There's exceptions, and I acknowledge that there are always exceptions.
We all heard the legendary story. But in general, I
have had a better Honting experience when it's not pouring
rain NonStop. Okay, I have those few that brag around
thinks about ever style came out there and pouring rain, Yeah,
I got you, But but that that's that's a long shot.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
You know.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Most of the time, if you're sitting out in the rain,
not a whole lot goes on. And so so I
and he did, and of course I couldn't speak of that,
and so the I'll come back and I'll tell you
some of the stories from the weekend.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
JT.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Actually it was his experience was just bizarre because JT
what happened him on Friday, he then now just becomes
like a member of the Wingo family for the rest
of the weekend. And suddenly JT went from deer hunting
to vacation. Yeah, you know, you you would kind of
see him kind of hanging out. He'd up on the couch.
He'd have a book. I'll be reading the Bible. One
(34:03):
time I left, he was out on the porch ship.
We called the great Greg. Hey, guess have a good
hunt out careful he left. Camo was in like, you know, relaxed,
sitting around, relaxed fit Kaki.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
Yeah, oh yeah, yeah. Well we made him put on
that camo for the picture. But look, Gus, I said,
and that's true. It wasn't for us making it put
on that camo jacket. You should see what he had on. Greg.
We come in and guess who's making breakfast? J T Yeah,
j T. And rich Wing goes wife.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
You look, it's like like part of part of the
He's like the cook of the.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Camp cook and you want the cheese and Yanks.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
We were leaving, he said, see on Friday, so we'll
come back.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
J t Uh. He tags out early. Rick I would
say he wasn't afraid to shoot. I'll tell you that.
I would see.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
Over closest to him, so it sounded like he was
shooting just over the tree line. And I've got quite
a story on his que munication with me until the
phone went dead.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
Fifteen minutes to the top. Looking back over the weekend,
more Ricking Bubba right after this.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
Rick and Bubba, Rick and Bubba.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
It's pretty good stories from that, including bringing OJT back
in the mix.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
How about JT?
Speaker 3 (35:16):
Says, how come people are constantly tell me y'all were
on the air talking about me? I sa, yeah, we
talk about j T actually does a It's interesting. Some
markets were on the same station with JT. Other markets
we are on different stations. And then in the Birmingham
market we actually compete with JT. He's actually on the
same time we are.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Yeah, I hear him on all kinds of Jesus. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
So, but it's funny and we've been remain friends. So
we go out and of course JT's asked one hundred questions.
I asked him when was the last time his rifle
was sighted in? JT said three years ago, Well it
must be and it had rushed on it. Yeah, okay,
of course it did.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
And so then they're started, do we JG you need
to use another gun?
Speaker 3 (35:57):
Do we di somebody? And I said, my boys are
not hunting this afternoon. You want to use one of these?
Speaker 4 (36:00):
Now?
Speaker 3 (36:00):
I think I'm ast stay here, damn used to this guy.
So and it turned out that it was fine based
on what happened next. So so so I lost all
contact because I don't know what it is. And with Wingo,
he's a dear friend and you know, one of those
kind of guys you want your sons to be around.
But he says that he's tired of me this this trip,
of me being in my comfort zone. He said, we'll
tell you this is my goal this this weekend, I'm
(36:22):
taking birds out of his comfort zone. First of all,
starting this afternoon, you' hunting with a crossbow. I'm like,
what He's like, what just means? I don't want you
to shoot with my big deal? That's what that means, right,
because he loves them. And I said, now they're just deer,
you know it. And so he said, you and I
gonna sit together like we we do that one hunt
every time we're together.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
So we get caught up. We talked.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
My favorite line is when we get down like we've
been out there for two hours, and of course we've
talked about everything. I mean, we've gone to the deep spiritual,
to the you know stuff and updating each other on everything.
And then He's like, you know, it's this field really
usually fills up. We haven't seen many deer. Why do
you think? I said, could it be? We've been talking
for two hour, Yeah, you know what I mean. And
in a ladderstand.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
So so anyway, in a ladder steam. So I've got
the crossbow, and there was one dough that nearly got
he want to take some doz out to that got
that was just about to walk right in front of me.
And I was really fired up by shooting at crossbow
because I tried to get it dialed in in the back.
And then of course she I think she smelled us
and them. She still came in the field. It's so funny.
She just went, now I'm not coming here though, going
around another way, and then she got out of range,
(37:21):
almost like she knew what I was doing. Yeah, and
we did see some great deer and had a great
time together. So we're just out there hanging out now.
One thing you got to know, we talked about it
for years. Rich Wingo who invites us down. Great guy.
He loves to go to Livingston, Alabama and eat it
diamond gym, Oh my goodness, and it is incredible good.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
So that's about what's half hour ride from there?
Speaker 5 (37:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (37:42):
Probably so, yeah, maybe twenty eight to thirty minutes.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
So he tells everybody, now look on Friday's hunt, don't
anybody He's the one that brought up which many people
of Honey for years agree with, and Bubba just experienced
it this past weekend on his last story. They ain't
nothing messed up with deerre more and somebodce you to
do right, you know what I mean, And so don't
mess it up.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
So he's like, look, if you see a monster, put
it down.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
And he said, even those are good because all I'm
gonna do then is donating to this family that's near here.
We'll drop that by on the way out, and then
you know, we keep them with meat and they love it.
And he said, so monster our dough that will just
drop off on our way out.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
That's right. Nobody mess up Diamond gyms us getting there.
He's right.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
And one time at bolt statement got us a six
forty five table.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
I said, six we ain't going a little early. Ain't
gonna make it, you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (38:30):
Not not dear seasons seven. Yeah, so anyway, of course
we haven't. We've been sitting there and then speedy, you're
communicating with JT right, and what is.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Well, well, it's it's so bad there, you know. Sometimes
he keeps asking me, what's gonna have it dark?
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Yeah, you get one bar of cell service, and then
it goes and says no service. It's just back and
forth and uh so he text me and says, hey, man.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Have you seen anything?
Speaker 1 (38:54):
And I text back and I going no, I said,
but it's a beautiful set up.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
I'm just waiting.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
I'm thinking, man, I can't I'm an run out of
Bullets's gonna be so many things come through here. Of
course I didn't see anything, but he he he. He says, hey,
I got a spike and a button head on the field. Hey,
I just didn't want to scare you because we were close.
I'm about to shoot, and I replied back, I said no, no, no, no,
don't shoot. Don't shoot those two, you know, And then
he says, hey, my cell is getting low. And then
(39:20):
all of a sudden, here and I'm thinking, oh my gosh,
I'm thinking, did he just shoot one of those two?
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Good?
Speaker 2 (39:26):
Please tell me he didn't do that. So I'm like,
is that you?
Speaker 3 (39:29):
Is that you?
Speaker 1 (39:29):
And then you start coming back, Hey, who who was that?
And then and then and then he comes back and goes, hey,
shot a dough and I'm like, okay, does he think the.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
The button head is a doe?
Speaker 1 (39:39):
So now I'm worried that he's made a mistake and uh,
and he says, now it's laying in the field about
thirty minutes later, and I'm like.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
What is going on? And that's when you said easy? Now,
actually I have the word easy.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
But now his sale gone one was Now his sale
is dead, and so I have no way to communicate
with him. But I know it's him because it's knocking
me out of my stand. It's so close I'm having
to deal with now the nervous Wingo.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
What was he doing? Yeah, what's what's happening?
Speaker 1 (40:09):
Thirty thirty minutes after that, I'm like, that's three shots.
I know what is going on over there? And so
I wait and Wingo finally picks me up after dropping
everybody else off and getting to me, and he goes, hey,
what's going on? And I said, I don't know. JT
has shot three times. I know it's one dough down,
I don't know. After that, so now the nervous ride
(40:29):
to JT. And you know me, I'm a nervous wreck
because I don't want to have JT to have made
a mistake because I feel like it's me, even though
it's not. It's just how I am. And so we
get there and sure enough, there's a dough lay in
the middle of the field, and I'm like, man, okay,
there's one. So we actually stop, put it in the
back and then go get him at the shooting house
and Rich says, all right, where's the other does he goes?
Speaker 3 (40:49):
I don't know, but my eight points right over there.
All right, now, let me chime in on this because
we're sitting there. And then all of a sudden we
knew that that Gary Palmer, Congressman Gary Palmer was going
to ride, but he was gonna get there after we're out,
So he was going to go to a place that
was near where the house was backfield, So where we're
sitting is not that far from the house either, you
know the field that Rich won't letyboy shot anything on, right,
(41:11):
And so so we're we're sitting there, but you'll see tons.
I probably saw thirty deer, sure, but anyway, so so
we hear, I mean, like ride on us, and all
of a sudden he looks at me. He goes, that's
Gary Palmer, and all of a sudden, so then I
see his face. I'm like Rich, Rich, He goes, you know,
those really weren't an issue. You just dropped him on
the way out. Di'mon gyms if we got If that's
(41:33):
a buck, I mean, we're gonna have to kpe it.
This is this is, this is an issue. So then
I s tell Gary, Gary's at you, and he sends
me he says, yeah, a nine point, And I just
look at Rich's face. So when when when JT says
he knows the bucks are gonna be more complicated.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
Yeah, we get food. Well, when JT said my you know,
I don't know about my eight points. Right over there,
he went back to put his rifle leaned up against
the shooting house, and when he did that, it was
just it was Rich and I. We were just sitting
there and he said we're in the handle and I
said we're in quite a dilemma.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
And I looked at him. I said, we need to
make us diamond gems. I know, look, there's the there's
the point that JT shot.
Speaker 4 (42:10):
There's JT with Now rich sous he can't invite us
just to go eat, right right?
Speaker 3 (42:14):
H yeah, sure, yeah, we don't have to. Yeah, I
mean we could all just say let's eat. But but
now they serve.
Speaker 4 (42:20):
They serve meals outside of deer season.
Speaker 3 (42:22):
Well in a bad in a bad And now see
I bought into this attitude. Now, so he sends me
to Gary Palmer and he comes to get y'all. So
I get over there, and I said, a Palmer, where
is he? And Richard already had that look about when
he saw nine point and I don't know rich names,
he's deer or whatever. Yeah, and uh and he goes,
you know what, I think I missed it?
Speaker 2 (42:40):
He said, I can't.
Speaker 3 (42:40):
I said, I think it was a clean miss He said,
knew I should have brought this gun. I was worried
about whether it was sidy. Well, I think, okay, now
we're back to drop off those on the way out,
and we're back on schedule, so I don't know that
y'all have a buck over there?
Speaker 2 (42:51):
Right?
Speaker 1 (42:52):
Well, little little did you know at that time that
our life is in danger as fast as rich is
trying to get out of there, because we put we
put the buck in the back, and then now the
three of us are in the front and he is
flying through mud. He's getting around and and and JT
is like, oh wow, I mean, I mean, should we
slow down? And I'm like diamond, Jim's diamond Jims JT.
(43:14):
We're we're and we're looking at it's like six thirty
and you got he's.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
Got six forty five reservations. We're like, we're never gonna
make I'll make it. Well, it's funny. And JT like, say,
you get so nervous all the way down there.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
You know, it's about an hour or forty five minute ride.
Every eighteen wheelers were coming over on us.
Speaker 2 (43:28):
Whoa. Now, I'm like, jj, I can I'm just passed.
He's coming over.
Speaker 3 (43:32):
He's always thinking that cat's trap hits.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Well. If you missed last night where Bubbly gave.
Speaker 3 (43:40):
The range, yeah, gave us the the trials and tribulations
of a deer hunting this past weekend, but eventually it
did bring in a nice eight point buck, So congratulations
on that.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
Yeah, you definitely took the long road there, but you
got it done well.
Speaker 4 (43:53):
We'll always have a story when we got there well
we will make there no doubt about that. She began
to work.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
So, you know, I was kind of in the and
this is the great thing about and I'll enjoy having it.
Not that it's some great deer hunting place, but I
like having a place, you know, to hunt, that that
is your own. And that way you can be a
little more fluid on that. We may go, may not, Hey,
let's go so anyway, And and Speedy has documented this,
and so have I that if you've ever had if
(44:23):
you have sons, they reach this age, it starts about
thirteen and it lasts till they get into their twenties.
Speaker 2 (44:30):
Is this this? You know? Bizarre?
Speaker 3 (44:33):
They get to where they can't talk clearly, and they
don't talk in full.
Speaker 2 (44:37):
It's just hey, man, how the team?
Speaker 3 (44:41):
Look, that's it, it's almost ready for the game, Yes, sir,
How was?
Speaker 2 (44:50):
How was? How was? Going to the peak of Mount Everest?
Is you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (44:54):
And so and so and so now so my my
sixteen year old who now has entered into that world,
uh says I did, Yeah, man, was bring some guys
now hunt this afternoon. Okay, that sounds good. Go say
that in front of you, mam. You know, and and
(45:17):
so uh, you know, because they're they're responsible. He certainly
could could light but but I'm I'm not really to
the point where I would say, high powered rifles. You
go down there with some of your buddies, you know,
of course they need supervision.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
Yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (45:33):
Uh, and that might mean that I made to go
out and hunt as well, you know what I mean.
So so we get there yeah, yeah, and then I
discover that we we have one of course that I
was just around at practice that week. We're supposed to
be come. I get the first word, he can't come,
he's got the flu. Oh, and all I can remember
is the last time I was with him, which was
(45:54):
only and then I find out late late that one
who's actually hunting is sick, which I didn't to at
to to after it was over, but what I gathered,
I got the word he's ain't never shot a deer.
I said, you know, so you never do, And he
said he knew how he hunted, but he just never
had been. So well, we're gonna solve that today. And
(46:16):
so now I'm thinking about, well, you know, I love
I love I never it never gets old. Somebody get
in the first year uh. And so Bubba, I will
tell you this. I was able to just give him
one of our rifles, to which he killed a deer
with one shot.
Speaker 2 (46:29):
That's great, you know what I mean? And uh and
and and it.
Speaker 4 (46:32):
Was, uh, well technically I killed it one.
Speaker 2 (46:37):
If you don't count the three didn't.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
Hit it, I'll say that he hit him with one
shot the first time or her. So anyway, so I
and I, you know how and what's cool is if
you got to play, and I said, you know, this
is where I think you'll have the best shot to
see some deer. And I talked to him about what
you don't want to shoot and what you do, and
you know, he seemed to be pretty savvy with the rifle,
which was good, and we walked through all the safety
stuff and how it operated and that whatever. So so
(46:59):
he went out and just like what I was talking
about is, you know, he puts a dough down, kills
his first deer early and well, you know, like about
four o'clock, which is great, and took a took a rifle,
you know, with just a basis scope he never had before,
and killed a deer with one hit it the first
shot on But anyway, so what gun was It was
a the seven millimeter eight and so good scope on it.
(47:23):
But I mean just you know, didn't have any thermal
stuff or any way to videotape, but it did. It
did knock it right down or a plastic thing to
hung up in it, but anyway, so anyway, so so
then you know, you're like, okay, tell me what happened,
and he said, de deer went down, good job, struggled,
(47:44):
got up, obviously hit, but did leave the field. Okay,
well remember where it went out and then we'll come
you know, I'm sure it's not far in there, but
just remember where it went out. I said, never really important,
remember where it went out. And uh, but you know,
you know how it is. I look, I've come on.
We talked about this before, you know, eye witness things
or the way we see things.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
It's just never like it really is, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 3 (48:07):
I've never been so thankful for a fence that helped
us realize that there's no way it went where you
said it did, because she could not have got through there,
you know what I mean. And so we went to
where the fence was down. And so when we're going
it's so funny because my son knows I'm gonna mess
with people. I mean, he knows that, you know what
I mean, Yeah, that's a given. But then and he
he wants to think. So anyway, you know, the cowdies
get the yipping, you know, they're they're rolling, and course.
Speaker 4 (48:30):
All the years start that just when it's yeah, say
it's hunting time is old, Yeah, it's yeah.
Speaker 3 (48:38):
So what I of course, what do I really immediately
do with somebody that's kind of new to it? All?
Speaker 2 (48:43):
I said, boy, we got to get to that deer.
Here they come.
Speaker 3 (48:45):
And all of a sudden, Sir, I said, this code
is coming for it, and we may have a standoff.
And and so it's I was so convincing, but all
of a sudden I hear from the back of my kid,
you seriously.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
Hey Clark, straight up, well delivery thereous.
Speaker 3 (49:13):
You could theready right, And so anyway, I said, uh,
and this is where it always works really good. And
we're we're you know, we're we're trailing, and I think
we're about to you know, they're boys doing a good
job doing that. I'm letting them kind of do all
that and they absolutely gonna pull the deer out. You know,
because they got to learn. Yeah, and soh So we
were getting there, and you know, they're cranking.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
I hear them cranking. And they're really not where we are,
I can tell, but it sounds like they are. And
all of a sudden, I said, boy, here they.
Speaker 3 (49:44):
Come and so and I and I said, they're not
really dangerous. Let's of course they're in the pack. And
then you're like that and I said, boy, it sounds
like a bunch of them. I said, that's the only
time they can be dangerous.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
Yeah. When I said, boys, if they get here, just.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
Let him have it from let them have it for
for in the darkness, I hear again, you serious, because
now you know he's over there there where you can't
really see him. It's just a voice out of the dark. Yeah,
you just see that that headlight you sunderstand? Boys, better
(50:22):
hurry So so anyway, but I tell you it was
it was good too. And and so I felt bad
for the dad of the kid because I knew that
this kid is the same age and it's in that mode.
The dad's all fired up. I said, hey, let me
put you on the phone with him.
Speaker 2 (50:37):
Yeah, yes, sir, Yeah, it's good. Pretty exciting. That was it,
you know, and I thought, you know, the day you
hear the day congratulation. Man, that's got get.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
A picture, hey, you know, yes, sir, mm hmm, yeah,
it's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (51:00):
That was it good? You know like that.
Speaker 3 (51:02):
Okay, well, let's get a few pictures and bloody face
up and then here we go. And I don't do
the full blood face. I just do the Indian thing
because you got war paint. Yeah, and then make them
eat the heart so after that, that's always. I enjoy
that moment so much. All right, let's put a little
on your face here and get a picture.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
All right.
Speaker 3 (51:19):
Now, let me cut that heart out and you consume
it so you can be one with the deer. Sir. Yeah,
you have to eat the heart right in front of us,
you know, just hold it like an apple, think about it.
Speaker 2 (51:31):
They let him do that man first.
Speaker 3 (51:35):
Then Brody got up Sunday six, everybody, we'll all sick now,
all right, alright, sick.
Speaker 2 (51:40):
We're all gonna be sick.
Speaker 1 (51:43):
Hey, it's speedy, And this is ricking Bubba's greatest tits
