Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey guys, and welcome back to another week of Gia Diaries.
I am going to recap my weekend for you. I
was visiting Michigan. It was Gabriella's twenty first birthday, so
I flew into Michigan on Thursday and we just had
such an amazing weekend. Gabriella just had so many things planned,
(00:24):
as I knew she would, and we just had such
a great time. I got into Michigan on Thursday and
Fiat was so amazing. I have been working with them
this past year and they gifted me a car rental
for the weekend. I was so shocked. It was a
Julia Alfa Romeo. It was so beautiful and that car
(00:48):
it's got a lot of speed. I was so surprised,
but it was so nice to just have access to
a car and bring Gabriella around to do any birthday
eur that she wanted to do. So we went to
lunch as soon as I got there. I picked her
up from her apartment and we went to this amazing
(01:13):
lunch spot.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
It was so good.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
It was Mediterranean and seafood, but it was so good.
My guilty pleasure is a burger, and they had this
insane smash burger on the menu, so I had to
get it. Gabriella got this fried chicken sandwich, and then
we got two appetizers. It was like the Mediterranean dips
(01:36):
and grilled octopus. I overorder. My eyes are bigger than
my stomach. So it was funny because throughout the entire weekend,
Gabriella was constantly reminding me, we don't need this much food,
don't order this much. But I am just always tempted.
If I see things that I like, I just want
(01:58):
to try everything. And so when it comes to food,
I don't care. Order whatever you want. Let's try things.
It's not a big deal. And Gabriella indeed was right
because I wanted to finish my burger so bad because
it was so good. But the dips would have been fine.
(02:18):
We definitely didn't need the grilled octopus. And I had
a really bad stomach ache for the rest of the day,
and then we were going out, so we went out
on Thursday. We went to a couple bars in Michigan,
and then we came back home. But as we were
(02:42):
getting ready before the bars on Thursday night, Special Forces
was airing, and I just bought Hulu Live TV, So
please guys help me out because I am moving into
my apartment in one month.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
I am so I was.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
So excited and I was like, okay, I just purchased
Hulu Live TV.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
This will be great.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
This will give me my live TV options. It'll be
good for when I move into my apartment. And Special
Forces wasn't live on Hulu Live TV, and I.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Was so pissed.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
So I had to FaceTime Christian as I was getting ready,
and he was showing me the episode through FaceTime. Then
when we got back from the bars, I swear, guys,
I can watch Special Forces over and over and over again.
So then we got back from the bar and I
turned on Special Forces. And then the next day, Gabriella
(03:42):
and I got breakfast and we went to Costco because
she wanted to basically just prepare everything for Saturday morning.
Saturday morning was her actual birthday and it was a
game day at Michigan, so she went all out and
it was so cute. But I also forgot how much
(04:06):
I love Costco. It has everything and anything. The deals
and what you can get at Costco is just so
great and nothing beats the samples going into Costco Hungary
is probably the best decision you can ever make, because
(04:29):
then you can just bop around the aisles try a
little bit of everything. And I was having the time
of my life. I need to go back to Costco
before I move into my apartment and buy things. I
saw a towel warmer, great deals on TVs. I just
need to do a Costco run. They also had these
(04:51):
egg bites that I was really interested in, so I
need to do a Costco run very soon. But as
we were bopping around, there was this pizza sample stand
and it was so good. And I don't know about you,
but I feel like the samples are always so much
better than when you actually get it and then bring
(05:12):
it home. But I had to go back for seconds.
It was so good, like amazing. Then they had pickles. Oh,
the samples are endless and it was such a fun
time in Costco. Then we got back home and Gabrielle's
boyfriend actually ended up surprising her for her twenty first birthday.
(05:36):
She had no idea. She likes to say that she
kind of had some clues because Sal landed from the
airport and we were still home and not at Costco yet,
so I kept looking at her, telling her, let's go, let's.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Go to Costco.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Come on, Gabriella, we got to get out the door.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
So later on.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
When he ended up surprising her, she looks at me
and she was like, is this why you were rushing
me to go to Costco? And I'm like, zip it,
you had no idea. So Sal ended up surprising her.
The surprise was so perfect. She had no idea. Her
friends ended up decorating the apartment a little bit and
put some twenty one balloons up and did some little
(06:20):
decorations everywhere. So she was so happy looking at the
decorations walking into her apartment.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
She didn't even.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Notice Sal until the last second, which made it so
much better. And she was really so surprised. I see
those college surprises all the time all over my for
you page when the boyfriend surprises the girlfriend and the
girlfriend surprises the boyfriend.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
So to actually see it.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Like in real life, I was like, this is just
so adorable. I actually started crying. I don't know why
the surprise made me so emotional. I think just to
see my sister so happy, and it just went so perfectly.
I started tearing up. Then after the surprise. Gabriella had
booked a reservation at this new Italian restaurant that just
(07:11):
opened up in Michigan, and it was funny because her
friend ended up changing the reservation from nine to ten people,
and for whatever reason, Gabriella got the notification on her
phone prior to Sal getting there on Friday morning, and again,
(07:33):
she really didn't think anything of it. She was just oh, okay,
I guess somebody else is coming. But it fully went
over her head because she didn't say anything to me,
she didn't say anything to her roommates, and then obviously
once Sal got there, she realized that was why the
reservation was changed too. So there were little things that
(07:54):
maybe could have hinted to her that something was happening,
but she didn't even notice. The dinner reservation was great,
the restaurant was awesome. It was kind of like brick
oven Italian pizza, so it was really really good. Left
(08:15):
very very full, and then we all watched Special Forces together.
Gabriella watches it every week with her roommates, so we
were all kind of just chilling on the couch watching
Special Forces. Yes, this was the third time I watched
episode two in the matter of two days. But this
(08:38):
just shows how much I love this show. So we
all ended up watching Special Forces together, which was super cute.
Gabriella's roommates do not know the outcome, so Gabriella did
not tell them anything, so it's really it was really
(08:58):
fun to see them watching it and not know what
to expect. Saturday morning, it was game day, and if
any of you know game days at Michigan, they are
(09:19):
very intense. So we woke up at five point forty
five and I helped Gabriella set.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Up for her pregame.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Her friends are just so sweet and so thoughtful. One
of her friends went to this donut shop at six
am and brought her donuts that were in a twenty
one like platter. Another one of her friends brought over
a twenty one banner that they painted. Another one of
(09:53):
her friends brought these little pins that we all wore
all day, and they were embarrassing pictures of Gabriella, and
each one of us wore a pin on our shirts
all day. So there were just so many cute things
that her friends had set up for her, and I'm
(10:14):
just so grateful that she has such an amazing friend
group and it was just so nice to see. So
we had biggles and mimosas and Gabriella made a beautiful
charcouterie board. So it was the perfect pregame. She was
so happy she had all of her best friends there.
(10:35):
And then we tailgated a little bit, went to some
of the stages, and then made our way to the game.
I was absolutely sweating. I could not handle the heat.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
It was so hot, and from.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Past game days, I've only been to one other game
and it was Gabriella's freshman year. It was in no
so this was now we're in October. It was pretty cold.
I was wearing like a puffer jacket.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
It is so hot in.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Michigan right now. I was dying during the game, sitting
down holding a sign by my head.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
I was sweating.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
So I made it to halftime and then I looked
at her and I was like, I'm so sorry.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
I need to go home.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
I'm dying, I'm dripping sweat, like I love you, but
I'm going home. So I ended up going back to
her apartment, showering and resting for a little bit, and
then I got my nails done. So my nails literally
(11:45):
broke over the weekend. I had a missing nail, a
chip nail on the other finger, and.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
I had work.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Monday morning, so I knew I needed to get my
nails done, so really didn't drink that much throughout the
day and knew that I had to make it to
this nail appointment at four o'clock. So I got home
from the game around one, showered, took a little nap,
and then made it to my nail appointment, came back home,
(12:16):
had something to eat, and then we got ready again
to go out for her birthday. If you guys saw
my Instagram story, I kind of documented the whole night.
We started at her first bar, she gave the bouncer
her ID, and we ended up going to three bars
that night. Then I left on Sunday. But it was
(12:41):
just such an amazing weekend. I was so happy to
be there for her twenty first birthday and just document everything.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
For her and be there for her.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
She is truly so amazing and I can't believe she
is twenty one. She cannot wait for me to move
in to my apartment because she is ready for Sunday, Funday,
Hoboken Days and Santa con In Hoboken. She's ready for
all the things and can't wait to stay at my apartment.
(13:12):
She's also talking about her summer internships and if she's
going to be interning in New York, that she's going
to be living with me. So I am super excited.
I mean, whatever she wants, she can do. My house
is her house, so cannot wait for all of that. So,
(13:34):
like I mentioned to you guys, Fiat gifted me a
rental car and I had to drop off the rental
car at this Weston Valet, which was in one of
the terminals.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
At the Detroit Airport.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
And so I think that I'm approaching the Weston fully
get lost. It adds seven minutes onto the and now
I'm freaking out because I look at my United app
and it says you need to drop off your bags
by twelve fifty four. I wasn't getting to the west
In until twelve fifty. I was like, there's just no
(14:12):
way that I'm gonna make it to another terminal in
four minutes and drop off my bag. So I'm fully
freaking out. Yes, I brought a check luggage. Gabrielle thought
I was absolutely ridiculous for doing that, but I like
to have options, and I have a decent status on
United where I get a free check bag up to
(14:33):
seventy pounds, So seeing that it's very enticing to just
check the bag and it's free, and I get up
to seventy pounds, so I drop off the car. I
call an uber immediately to get me to the next terminal,
because I could have taken a shuttle, but that would
(14:53):
have just taken even longer. And I thought I was
giving myself ample time because Clear told I have tsa
pre check and clear Clear told me to leave Gabriella's
apartment by twelve twenty, so I left at twelve. I
was like, okay, an extra twenty minutes to drop off
the car, I'll be all right. I was not okay.
(15:15):
So then I reached the airport of the terminal that
I was supposed to be at, which was the Evans terminal.
I sprint in at one oh six, so I missed
the check bag check in by ten minutes. They tell
me you can't check your bag, it's closed. I start
(15:38):
hyper ventilating because I have to be up for work
at seven point thirty on Monday. It's Sunday. I'm freaking
out and I already know it's a packed weekend at Michigan.
All the flights are basically booked. I knew that I
was going to be screwed. I'm asking the United counter, Okay,
(16:01):
is there anything you could do? Can you guys please
just put my bag onto the next flight. Can you
hold my bag here and my sister will come and
pick it up. This other person who was checking it
to United recommended me to do Uber Carrier so that
somebody could pick up my luggage. Because I was like, Okay,
(16:21):
maybe if my luggage is out of here, I'll just
run onto the plane. It'll be fine. I'll get my luggage.
Eventually Gabriella can overnight it back home. And of course,
as I'm trying to call the Uber carrier, network connection
is lost.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Everything was just going wrong.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
So now I am running to every single airline, Frontier, Spirit,
you name it, every single airline trying to get a
flight home. They're all telling me nothing is available. United
tells me nothing's available. I go, I'll get on three planes,
just get me home tonight. Like nothing is available, I
(17:00):
call United on the phone. I ask them to at
least just credit me the money for the flight so
that I could book a new flight. As she's looking
about to credit me, she finds a flight that was
leaving within a couple hours. It was a connecting flight.
(17:23):
I would go from Detroit to Chicago, Chicago to LaGuardia.
I said, God, bless you, I'll take it. So I
was originally supposed to land in Newark.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
At three thirty.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Now I'm landing in LaGuardia at nine thirty. So thank God,
though God was looking out for me. I was so overwhelmed.
I am never cutting it that close again. But the
reason why I do cut it that close is because
I have clear and Tsai PreCheck. It usually takes me
(18:00):
ten minutes max to get through security, not even and.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
To check my bag.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
It's really not it doesn't take long, but it was
because I got lost dropping off the car at the
Western Ballet and the fact that the Western Ballet was
in a different terminal than my airline. That really just
screwed everything up. But thank God, I was able to
check my bag get onto the new flight. My bag
(18:28):
made it to La Guardia. I made it to La Guardia.
I was exhausted, but I made it home. It was
a great weekend. And work on Monday was perfectly fine.
I had to be up at seven point thirty, got
my makeup done, I was on the Sherry Shepherd Show
with my mom. We also had a page six interview
(18:51):
talking all about Special Forces, and then I had a
couple events in New York afterwards. So it was a
crazy twenty four hours for sure, but we made it through,
and that was my weekend. Now I am home for
(19:14):
like three days and I am leaving tomorrow for a
brand trip with JSX.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
We are going to Fort Laida Dale.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
I am so excited, so I can't wait to fill
you guys in on that and tell you all about
the trip. It is going to be amazing. I can
only imagine what they have set up for us. They
all I know is private jet with JSX staying at
the Four Seasons, and they asked me my workout size
(19:46):
for viewery. How I don't think it could get better
than this, So I am so excited. I think it's
going to be a pretty relaxing trip, which I can't
wait for, and I can't wait to fill you guys
in on that. But that was my weekend and I
cannot wait to catch up with you guys next week.
(20:08):
And that was all for this week's geodiaries. See you
guys next week, Love you guys, Bye,
