Morning Run with Amy and TJ and iHeartRadio Podcast. Good
morning everyone, and welcome to Morning Run. It's Monday, July
twenty eighth.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
I'm Amy Robots and I'm TJ. Holmes. Wherever you are,
hope you had a great, great weekend. I assume you
weren't flying if you had a great weekend, because we
had another two pretty disturbing incidents. I can imagine being
on these planes for this, one of them a dramatic
drop to literally avoid a collision, and the other one robes.
We literally see passengers running on an active runway from

(00:33):
a plane with smoke all around.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Yeah, carrying as many bags and children as they can carry.
It was if it wasn't scary, it was almost comical,
but certainly not a situation any one of us would
want to be in.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
So two more incidents, plain incidents. Will get into those.
Also some history here. A lot of people, even if
you don't watch racing, you know the Indianapolis five hundred
that happens at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a story track
that's been around Robe since nineteen o nine. But they
had a first this weekend because the person who crossed
the finish line first was Black in the nineteen o

(01:07):
nine The Things. That's wow to think this is the
first time we saw that. Very cool story. And then
Trump was on one over the weekend. He's supposed to
be in Scotland doing work, but he was on social
media going off on everybody. This time he literally said
he wants to prosecute Beyonce.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yeah. I don't really have a lot of words for that.
It's a lot of people still pointing to the fact that
he is trying to point at anyone other than himself
and try to make the conversation anything other than Epstein.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
But yes, right now, he did say he put in
writing he wants Beyonce prosecuted. We will get into that.
Also a reminder here, folks, on your screen, you can
on your phone if you're listening that's however you're listening
to us, go to our show page there. Just go
to the top right corner on the Apple podcast app
and you will see follow. Just click that porus in

(01:57):
this podcast will show up in your inbox you every
single day. Don't have to go looking for it. Also,
one other thing, one of our fans, Robes wants some advice.
They want some advice on possibly starting over in their relationship.
We're going to give them advice, but we want our
listener's advice for the advice we should be giving them.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yes, it is our weekly column on Yahoo ask Amy
and TJ. It actually posts on Yahoo at nine am
Eastern Time on Monday.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
So look for it.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
But this question is great. It's a question I think
a lot of people have. You're wondering should you just
settle and lock in with the relationship you're in right now,
or should you start over and see if you can
find someone better? And that's basically what we're being asked.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Will get specifically into that question in a moment, but
also on the run this morning, on this Monday, they've
been telling us there's no Epstein client list, but Glaine
Maxwell reportedly had one hundred names to discuss with the
Justice Department during their two day check.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Plus, investors are getting what they desperately crave, still ability,
and now markets are set for a big day after
the US and the EU reach a trade agreement.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Also this morning, a Michigan man is facing terrorism charges
after randomly stabbing eleven people in a Walmart over the.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Weekend, and a massive man hunt is underway. In Arkansas
right now, after a man murdered a couple hiking in
a state park with their young daughters. Their daughters are okay,
but this is a mystery, and so many folks in
that state are literally holding their breath waiting for this
man to be arrested. We begin our run though, on
this Monday, with President Trump, who yes, went on a

(03:34):
few head scratching, eyebrow raising truth social tangents over the weekend,
and one he called for Al Sharpton, Oprah, and Beyonce
all to be prosecuted.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
In another post, he suggested Broadcast Network should have their
licenses revoked, and the other of note depicted Obama in
OJ's bronco and being chased by Trump and Vice President
Vans in cop cars, all in a weekend.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Can't make it up. Cannot make it up. So let's
begin with the Beyonce stuff. She was getting a lot
of attention this weekend because of a surprised Destiny's Child
reunion at her final Cowboy Carter show in Vegas.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Which is pretty cool. That's the story of them. That
video of them back on Stay It was really awesome.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
So Oprah also happened to be in attendance at the concert. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
So on the same night of that concert, the President
hopped on social media. I suggested that Democrats owed money
from the presidential election because they quote admit to paying
probably illegally, eleven million dollars to singer Beyonce for an endorsement.
He goes on to say she never sang not one
note and left the stage to a booing and angry audience.

(04:47):
Exclamation point end quote.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
All right, Well, Trump did not stop with Beyonce. He
went on to say Winfrey got three million dollars, and
Al Sharpton, who we called a low rated TV anchor
and a total lightweight, got six hundred one thousand dollars.
Trump said there were others to be named. Well, that's funny.
He's got a list of his own as well. For
receiving money for endorsements. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
He closed this post by saying, quote, you are not
allowed to pay for an endorsement. It is totally illegal
to do so. Kamala and all of those that received
endorsement money broke the law. They should all be prosecuted. Now,
he did not offer any evidence or basis for his accusations,
but it is based in something that has been debunked

(05:29):
repeatedly out there robes. It showed up at some point
after she made the endorsement of Kamala Harris. Somewhere online
somebody says she got ten million dollars for the endorsement.
Trump just turned it into eleven million dollars in the post.
But yes, it has been debunked because they had to
come out and say one hundred and sixty five thousand
dollars was paid two Beyonce's production company for putting on

(05:51):
that big event they had. They provided all that stuff
in the they were reimbursed by the campaign. That is
all this seems to be based on. There is no
basis for any millions being paid.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
But Trump went on in his rants, yep, and on,
and he took on broadcast networks next. So first he
went after NBC, calling them concasts NBC before claiming the
network's ratings are down, saying their programming is terrible, their
management even worse. They are an arm of the Democrat
Party and should be held accountable for that. Likewise fake

(06:24):
news ABC.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Okay, you follow that up by saying networks aren't allowed
to be political pawns for the Democratic Party. It has
become so outrageous that, in my opinion, their licenses could
and should be revoked. Now, the president has mentioned something
like this in the past, suggested things like this, But
a president does not have the power to unilaterally revoke

(06:45):
a network's broadcasting license just because he doesn't like the
content of a news program.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
However, he can sue them and get a very hefty
settlement interfarious in FCC.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
These are folks who are supposed to be independent, but
he puts his people on it, and so it's Trump.
So you listen to this stuff. Now he can't do that,
and then you go, wait a minute, what if he
tries this, or what if he tries that? So it
has people sitting up. Certainly given robes how he's been
going after news correct.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yes, and so there is another post yes that got
a lot of attention, a meme he posted on Saturday.
It depicts Trump and Vice President JD. Vance chasing former
President Obama. But the image he used that very familiar
and famous one of OJ Simpson's slow speed chase in
that white Bronco. The meme shows an image of Obama
as the driver of the bronco and Trump and Vance

(07:34):
in police cars. Right behind him.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
See this thing. Yes, when I first saw it, I
only saw Obama's image in the bronco. I didn't even
notice that the other two smaller images had Trump and Vance.
And the President didn't include any text in this, just
the image. He last week, you'll remember, suggested his administration
had uncovered evidence that Obama committed treason by trying to
undermine Trump's twenty sixteen election victory. No evidence was offered

(07:59):
for that either. That prompted Obama's office to issue a
rare statement responding to Trump, calling his accusations outrageous, ridiculous,
and bizarre. This meme is bizarre, but he conjures up
some old racist imagery in there, and it puts that
back in people's minds to use that of him chasing
down Obama. I don't know what he's trying to suggest

(08:22):
or do or just distract, is what the suggestion y
is ropes.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
All right, I'm very happy to move on from Trump news.
This is interesting. Next up on the run Trump adjacent
It's still Trump Adjason. Yes, aren't all stories these days? Yes,
we're getting some insight into what happened behind closed doors
when convicted Jeffrey Epstein accomplished. Glaine Maxwell spent nine hours
answering questions from Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. While the

(08:47):
Justice Department did not release any information about those two
days of meetings, her attorney certainly did.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Yeah, he's talking, and he says his client was quote
ask maybe about one hundred different people. She answered questions
about everybody and didn't hold anything back. They asked about
every single every possible thing, you could imagine everything. He added,
I think Gawayne did a wonderful job. She literally answered
every question. She didn't say, you know what, don't ask

(09:15):
me that I'm not going to talk about this person.
Apparently he wants you to know she is squealing, she
told all.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
So anybody out there, they might have had a rough
couple nights of sleep waiting to see what happens next.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Now.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Her attorney did not identify any of those people among
the hundred that Maxwell was asked about, and according to
NBC News, Maxwell was granted limited immunity to answer questions
about the Epstein case. She's certainly currently serving a twenty
year prison sentence for sex trafficking charges.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Prosecutors can take into consideration of defendants cooperation to recommend
a plea deal, or a reduced sentence. When asked if
he was considering granting Maxwell a pardon or commuting her sentence,
the President told reporters this, it's something I haven't thought about.
But he added this, I'm allowed to do it.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Food for thought, all right. Next up on the run,
The markets are expected to have a good day today
after the President announced the US and the European Union
have reached a trade deal. That deal, we'll see the
US impose a fifteen percent tariff on most goods coming
into the US from the twenty seven countries that make
up the EU.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
All Right. The President had threatened to impose a tariff
as high as thirty percent. But call this a quote
very powerful deal. It's a very big deal. It's the
biggest deal of all the deals. In addition to the
fifteen percent tariff, the EU has also agreed to purchase
seven hundred and fifty billion dollars worth of US energy
and make another six hundred billion dollars in investments. As

(10:43):
of this recording, US stock futures were all trending up.
That's the thing, right, they just tell us what you're
going to do. All this tariff stuff flying around, and
this seems to at least be a major one that's
been put to rest, and we know what we're dealing with.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Moving forward, all right. Next up on the Run, we're
going to head to Michigan. We're a forty two year
old man went on a stabbing spree in Traverse City
in a walmart over the weekend. Police say Bradford James
Gilly randomly stabbed eleven people with a folding knife before
a group of customers, one of whom was armed with
a gun, forced him to drop his knife and wait
for police, who then arrived moments later.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Egglee is now behind bars facing terrorism and assault with
intent to murder charges. Eyewitnesses say he stabbed customers without
any warning, without making any threats, and right now there's
no known motive for this attack. The victims range in
age from twenty nine to eighty four. To six of
them were initially listed in critical condition five and series,
but by Sunday afternoon all were improving. One victim was

(11:40):
even released from the hospital.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Next up on the Run, we head to Arkansas, where
a killer is on the loose after police say he
attacked a family hiking in Devil's Den State Park over
the weekend, killing the parents, forty three year old Clinton
Brink and forty one year old Christa Brink.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
The daughters are aged seven and nine. They were with
their parents. It's on the trail, but not injured. Therewith
relatives now ropes I didn't dive into this enough, like
how did this go down that they see it.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
They're not giving any details none whatsoever. And this is
so scary for people who I mean, how many people
go on family hikes on the weekend. That's something I
did with my family, something I love. That is so frightening.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
And with those a family of four, you almost feel safe.
Of course, safety in numbers, they say. But Arkansas State
Police now saying they believe the suspect is a white
man with a medium bild. He was wearing dark pants,
a dark ball cap, and sunglasses, and was carrying a
black backpack, they say, and was seen driving a black
four door sedan they believe it was a Masta, but
his license plate was covered by duct tape.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
They say, yeah, this is so scary. And again, investigators
have not released any details on the manner or circumstances
of the couple's murder, but they are asking for help
from the public. They're asking, did anyone who visited that
state park on Saturday please check your cell phone photos
or videos, and for residents who live near the park,
check your home security camera footage for anything suspicious or

(13:04):
any possible images of the suspects.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
And they are asking if you have them, please call
them first, don't run to social media. This is so
fascinating they have to do this these days, that if
somebody would possibly have a picture and the first thing
you think, ooh, let me post this and show what
I got. They're begging people please call them first. You
could absolutely impact their investigation by going to social media first.

(13:28):
The governor of Arkansas, Sarah Huckabee, says she's praying for
the family and also said they will not rest until
the suspect is apprehended. It's I haven't specifically seen that
request before, but it makes perfect sense and it's almost
something that every police department needs to put out there.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Please, yeah, don't put it on TikTok, don't put it
on Instagram. Please let us know you have it first,
because we could use it. It could be evidence.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
All right, Well, folks, stay with us here. On this
Monday Morning run when we come back, Superman was taken
out at the box office, but it took foureres to
do so. Also history at one of the most storied
racetracks in the country. And if you were flying this weekend,
I don't know what your experience was, but folks on
a flight to Vegas and folks on a flight to

(14:12):
Miami had some really bumpy and scary rides.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Welcome back everyone to this Monday morning run. And next
up on the run a couple of frightening commercial airline
incidents over the weekend, including one that had passengers running
from the plane on the runway with smoke all around them.
That happened in Denver after an American Airlines flight from
Denver to Miami had to abort their takeoff.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yeah, passengers reported hearing a loud boom before the plane
was then stopped on the runway and the one hundred
and seventy three passengers were evacuated via those emergency slides.
The video shows passengers coming off the plane and running
as smoke is surrounding the plane and surrounding them. So,
what in guy's name happened here?

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Well, simply put the plane blew a tire. The tire
led to a fire in the landing gear. One person
actually had to be taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
But the video is everywhere of these passengers jumping on
the slides to get out of harm's way. But many
of them it was almost comical because they had children
in their arms. Then they had tried to grab all

(15:23):
their bags and their belongings. I know they tell you you're
not supposed to, but of course everybody's like, eh.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Instinct, I want my stuff. It's instinct. And look, I'm
not doubting this is not a criticism of these folks
in the least bit. They don't know what's happening. They
could think they're quite frankly, their lives are in danger.
But they're getting off the plane and you see it
and initially as dramatic, but then after a couple of
times you can then assess. And what you assess, everybody's
heard it. I know you everybody has had that thought

(15:51):
in their mind before. Man, if we had an emergency,
would I grab my bag?

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Yes, the answer is yes, huh absolutely.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
But some of the people were tumbling, They were falling
and hitting the ground carrying bags. Other people had kids
and bags to be carrying. It's a reason they tell
you not to do this, But instinctively, I think we
all would.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
I guess I know I would, all right.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
The other incident, though, was a Southwest plane. It had
to rapidly descend to avoid a collision. And we're talking
about a rapid descent that was five hundred feet in
a matter of seconds. The passengers described this as a
free fall, feeling like a roller coaster, if you will.
The plane was heading from Burbank to Las Vegas, and

(16:32):
according to the FAA, just minutes after take off, the
pilot's alarm started going off, alerting them that another plane
was in their vicinity.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
Yeah, the other plane was an old British military plane. Random,
not really sure what that means. The FAA is investigating
the incident, and the Southwest plane continued on with this journey,
eventually landed safely in Las Vegas. No passengers were injured,
but two flight attendants suffered minor injuries. One of them
actually had to go to the hospital. But yeah, five
hundred foot drop, I cannot imagine how that felt.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
All right? Next up on the run here now, congratulations
Bubba Wallace made history yesterday at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
He became the first black driver to win at the
story two and a half mile over. This track has
been around since nineteen oh nine. If you're not that familiar,
most are. Even if you don't follow racing, you know
the Indianapolis five hundred. This is the track where it

(17:23):
takes place in NASCAR does races there as well.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
So Wallace finished ahead of the nearest driver by point
two seconds to win NASCAR's Brickyard four one hundred. It's
the third victory for the thirty one year old, but
he has not won since twenty twenty two, so this
was a big deal. And it also was his first
victory since becoming a father.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Do you see those I.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Did It pictures?

Speaker 2 (17:42):
These pictures are pretty incredible of him laying out on
the track and his little son in his arms. He's
holding up but the kids nine or ten months old.
Becks is the name. So this was a really really
special weekend in a lot of ways. So racing and
for the final leg here of our run, it took
four superheroes to bring down one superman at the box office.

(18:03):
This weekend Yes, we talked about Marvel's Fantastic Four. As expected,
was number one at the box office.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
It's been with one hundred and eighteen million dollars in
the US made another one hundred million dollars overseas. The
movie starring at Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby off to
a good start, which is great news for Marvel. They
had a couple of big box office missus Thunderbolts, Captain
America Brave New World both projected to lose money.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
Yeah, that's a big deal for them. It's Marvel couldn't miss.
For a long time every movie seemed to make a
billion dollars. So they're back on track here with the
Fantastic Four. Scenes with Superman was number two at the
box office over the weekend, has now crossed the five
hundred million dollar mark worldwide. Jurassic Park F one is
still doing their thing. They rounded out the top four
for the weekend.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
All right, we'd like to we like you to consider
this as you go about your day. We'll consider it
as well, right along with you. This is our quote
of the day.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realize
this and you will find strength. Ain't that the key
to everything. Yep, power over your mind. No, I want
to control what's happening across the streets.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
Nobody can. We all want to. Yes, but this is
from Marcus Aurelius. Again, it could go way back like
BC times. They're still recognizing this and we still haven't
figured it out right, We've been preaching this forever. At
least he was all the way back then. And I
love this quote. You have power over your mind, not
outside events. Realize this and you will find strength.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
All right, And one of our listeners, one of our readers,
one of our fans, needs a little strength. Right now.
You can go to Yahoo today this article will be
posted our column, our weekly column in which someone asks
us a question, usually about relationships, but not just intimate
and romantic relationships, but friends, family, whatever it may be.
But this rogues was an interesting question today and it's

(19:56):
probably something most people have dealt with.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Yes to engaged or not to get married, or not
to stay with someone or not? Yes, this is the question.
I'm a twenty seven year old zoomer trying to decide
whether to settle for my current partner or start over
and keep looking. He fills in a lot of details
that you guys are going to want to read. He
asks what should I do?

Speaker 2 (20:16):
And you can find the question written in full. More
so than that, but also here our response and see
if you agree with it.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
On the Yahoo dot com in the life section, you'll
be able to find it there starting at nine o'clock
Eastern time today.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
That's right. Feel free to please post your comments about
at least what you think the advice should be and
what you think about our advice as well, and we
may feature you on our podcast where we go over
in detail some of these questions that plague so many
of us in our relationships. And with that, thank you
so much for running with us everyone.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
I'm Amy Robots and I'm tj Holm. We will be
seeing y'all real soon
