Speaker 1 (00:01):
Morning Run with Amy and TJ and iHeartRadio Podcast. Good
morning everyone, and welcome to Morning Run. It is Friday,
November twenty eighth, and it isn't just any Friday.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
We all know it's Black Friday.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
I'm Maybe Robot and I'm TJ Holmes. I love Black Friday.
I hate that it's Christmas. I'm scrooging it up this morning.
Hello everybody. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving. But yes,
it is now Christmas. It is Christmas season, period, point blank.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
You sound disappointed, Well, it's just the pressure.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
I love Thanksgiving because it is about family, it is
about gratitude. Christmas turns into greed. Yeah, it turns into
gim me, give me, give me, gim me, gimme. And
I hate the pressure that we immediately feel starting on
this day. And it scrooges me out, it really does.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
But you do like the shopping on Black Friday.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Black Friday, you will find me at a mall and
Christmas Eve, I'll always go out just to see the chaos.
I love it.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
I love that you know what we're doing today.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
We actually we're actually recording this a little early so
we can jump in the car and get straight to
Black Friday sales.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Yes, we are on our way. Wherever you are, I
hope you're doing well. I hope you got to where
you were going. Okay, First of all, because that weather
system rows, we were talking about how much it could
disrupt things. People trying to get two Thanksgiving. It might
be worse trying to get home from Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, it's never easy.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
And we all know that those busy days will be
Sunday and Monday. But the weather has not been cooperating,
and we had so many storms passing through and I
think snow is coming in around next week sometime.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
But ooh, it's gonna be cold. We gotta bundle up.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
So heads up, folks. We are not your meteorologists here,
but we can tell you that some of these storm
systems we're talking about, they even had a combination of
a couple of storms that are now gonna make it
way from the Plains and the Midwest. It's all heading east.
And so for today, Tomorrow, into Saturday, even Sunday, you all,
we are going to be dealing with rain, sleep, wind,
(02:00):
and snow for a good chunk of the country.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
It's the most wonderful time of the year.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
I don't even mind that so much. So, yes, we
are recording this. By the time most of you hear this,
you'll probably be maybe well on your way. But by
the time you hear that, stores will already be open
five and six o'clock in the morning. Yeah, they know
how to do this. And for anybody, we'll give one
movie recommendation. You know what I'm about to say.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Oh, yes, so you have to be you have to
have a let's just say, a tough stomach. You're gonna
have to be able because this is a gory but delicious.
It's an exceptionally gory movie.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
But yes, it's Black Friday related and it's called Thanksgiving.
I didn't plan on giving this movie recommendation, but thinking
about Black Friday and thinking about sometimes the chaos, this
movie takes it to an extreme. In the opening scene
has Patrick Dempsey in there. Yes, but it's called Thanksgiving
and it is kind of hilarious.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Nick Dreamy is very different in this movie, and actually
I really enjoyed him because I'm so used to him.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Playing the nice, goofy, appable guy.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
He was still the hometown hero, he was the sheriff.
He was still cool in this one. He's always mcdreaming
no matter what he's done. But anyway, we got off
on and to be honest with you all, we wanted
to keep things a little lighter, a little loose this
morning because it is a holiday, it is supposed to
be lighter. But we have a couple of stories we
did want to jump on and give you updates on
that were pretty incredible. Of course, we're keeping an eye
on what's happening with that Hong Kong fire at that
(03:25):
apartment complex. The death toll has jumped way up from
what we saw yesterday. We'll give you some details there. Also,
single Ray j A is in the news for a
really bizarre and disturbing incident on Thanksgiving and Rose. One
of the most disturbing parts of this is that seemed
like everybody got to see it.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
It was live online, he was live streaming, and I
even was my jaw drop to think he knew what
was happening, he knew that there was a gun involved,
and he chose to put it out there for everybody
to follow a long which is criminally potentially probably his undoing.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah, this was a scary, scary Thanksgiving Day incident. It
was really horrible to see. And we have an update
from President Trump. Look, we talk here about sometimes his messages,
his tweets, people can call them unhinged. He's going off
with he This was yesterday, Rold we talked about I said,
this is one of the longest ones I've ever seen
(04:24):
him have. He was talking about one thing, So this
is now the new longest social media message I've seen,
and it contains some language that even for him sometimes
I wow, your all kind of dropped, including using.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
The R word that really jumped out at me.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Directly using that word and describing another a state leader.
So we are actually, yeah, we're going to read that
thing in its entirety here in just a moment and
let you see what we're talking about. But it has
a lot to do with new policy he's announcing for
this country. But roes this all and you could tell
(05:03):
the President was really kind of upset about this. But
we're going to go back and this all ties into
and this is an update from yesterday. The two National
Guard members who were shot in Washington, d C. Patrolling
in that ambush style attack ropes. We got word that
one of the two has now passed away.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yes, and I'm sure if you turn on the news
you will see her picture everywhere.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
She was just twenty years old. Heartbreaking here, I've got.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
You know, when I have a nineteen year old, to
just think about how young they are and what a
bright future she had. This is a young woman. Her
name was Sarah Beckstrom. She ended up passing away on
Thanksgiving Day. I was reading about her father was in
the hospital room with her, holding her hand. He knew
she wasn't going to make it. He said, the wound
was mortal from the beginning. He knew that she was
(05:46):
not going to survive the day. So that is how
he spent his Thanksgiving Day alongside his daughter. The incident
actually took place the day before, on Wednesday. And the
other young man, I believe he's twenty four years old,
is still fighting for his life.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
That is how they're describing it right now. His name
is Andrew Wolf.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
You know we should. This is a good reminder. I
know people feel a certain way about these National Guard
being on the streets. It's not their fault. They're following orders.
And I know people are annoyed by it and roll
there up. But I think, and I hope, and I
pray that everybody can recognize twenty these are twenty year
old I say kids.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
They are, they're adults.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
But we have a nineteen year old sleeping in the
room over behind us as we're recording. She's here for Thanksgiving.
To think about that kid, and it's a three year old.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
And that's about the same old age's wolf. It's so sad.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
So could just consider when you're thinking about and looking
at them. They're following orders and these are twenty year
old young people. She's a young woman who decided to serve.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
From West Virginia. Both of them came down got I
think they said they got to DC around August under
President Trump's orders and they were serving our country.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
You know, this probably stings and hurts him. I mean,
you know, it sucks to any service member is injured
or killed. But she was there, and they are there
on his orders, and I'm sure in some way that
messes with him, and maybe it's why we've seen some
of the reaction we have seen from him. But the
suspects of twenty nine year old Afghan national drove from
Washington State with a gun to Washington, d C. To
(07:15):
carry this out. They're still trying to figure out exactly
what was going on with this is someone the debate's
going on politically where they're fighting over whose fault it
is that this person was in the United States in
the first place.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Yes, but they entered the US legally in twenty twenty one,
granted asylum this year, so it's who knows what made
set him off at this point to have been living
here for so long to be granted asylum. He actually,
according to officials, assisted the US in fighting the Taliban
with intelligence information.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
And that made him eligible to come in through a
particular program under the Biden administration. So that's what President
Trump is pointing to. But it was this year that
this administration.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Granted him asylum, and now anyone from Afghanistan is not
going to be entering in the United States for I
would say, for an extent period of time.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Yeah. So the President yesterday was actually he was doing
a phone call with service members for Thanksgiving and he
had just gotten word that the young lady had passed
away and then later rolled he and we say this,
he was on one and he has now declared that
we are going to change immigration in this country and
(08:21):
stop it. In fact, from certain countries and give reviews
of green cards that are being processed. Okay, that was
a lot, but let us let him tell it in
a long and lightening social media post. This is what
the president posts, and now we will bear with us.
We're going to break this up because it's a lot.
(08:41):
But this is what the President said in a late tweet.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Yesterday, A very happy Thanksgiving salutation to all of our
great American citizens and patriots who have been so nice
in allowing our country to be divided, disrupted, carved up, murdered, beaten, mugged,
and laughed at along with certain other foolish countries throughout
the world, for being politically correct and just playing stupid
(09:07):
when it comes to immigration.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
And then he put in parentheses.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
So that was me. I was trying to make sure
it was clear because if it wasn't, Oh, he was
being And it took me a second. I read several times,
Oh he was being sarcastic.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
So nice in allowing our country. Yes, sarcastic, as says
he was wishing everybody you.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Were saying that. He let everyone know he was being sarcastic.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
I was just trying to make sure it reminded us Oh, yeah,
that was sarcasm. He goes on then to say the
official United States foreign population stands at fifty three million people,
most of which are on welfare from failed nations, or
from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels. That's tough.
If we have fifty three million people here that are
(09:46):
These are people who are adding to the country we
thought makes us a melting pot.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Correct.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
His language is that most of the foreign population here
is on welfare or from a failed nation, or from
a prison, or from a mental institution or a gang
or drug artepe. It sounds like they should leave.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Yes, that is what I think.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
That is trying.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Yes, yeah, he said.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
They and their children are supported through massive payments from
patriotic American citizens who, because of their beautiful hearts, do
not want to openly complain or cause trouble in any way,
shape or form. They put up with what has happened
to our country, but it's eating them alive to do so.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
Yes, folks, he's just getting warmed up. Quote, a migrant
earning thirty thousand with a green card will get roughly
fifty thousand and yearly benefits for their family. Again, these
are all the words from President Trump, the real migrant
population is much higher. The refugee burden is the leading
cause of social dysfunction in America. I thought that was
a strong thing.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Wow, because okay, continue.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
A leading call the social dysfunction in America something that
did not exist after World War II. Failed high failed schools,
high crime, urban decay, overcrowded hospitals, housing shortages, and large deficits.
He is saying that having any immigration almost in this
country has been bad for this country.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Correct.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
He says, as an example, hundreds of thousands of refugees
from Somalia are completely taking over the once great state
of Minnesota. Somalion games are roving the streets looking for
prey as our wonderful people stay locked in their apartments
and houses, hoping against hope that they will be left alone.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Okay, so we have turned now to Esota, Minnesota. He
continues on Minnesota. And I think it's still inappropriate when
you would never call somebody this word, right, Rhodes, But
I think it's still generally speaking, it shouldn't be uttered,
even if I'm repeating it here. Correct.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
I think you should just say the R word and
we know what it is.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
We know what it is, so here he goes the
seriously our word. Governor of Minnesota, Tim Waltz does nothing
either through fear and competence are both While the worst
congressman slash woman in our country, ilhan Omar, always wrapped
up in her swaddling hijab, and who probably came into
the USA illegally in that you are not allowed to
(12:07):
marry your brother, does nothing but hatefully complain about our country,
its constitution, and how badly she is treated when her
place of origin is a decadent, backward and crime ridden
nation which is essentially not even a country for lack
of government, military, police schools, etc. I know called the
(12:29):
governor of the state the R word swaddling a job.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Yes, and that is a direct attack for ilhan Omar
and certainly people who have always fought for their right
to be able to do so just to kind of
make fun of it. And it's difficult to read this,
but he continues, even as we have progressed technologically, immigration
policy has eroded those gains and living conditions for many.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
I will permanently.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Pause migration from all third world countries to allow the
US system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions
of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe
Biden's auto pen, and remove anyone who is not a
net asset to the United States or is incapable of
(13:19):
loving our country and all federal benefits and subsidies to
non citizens of our country, denaturalized migrants who undermine domestic tranquility,
And deport any foreign national who is a public charge,
security risk, or non compatible with Western civilization. Yet that's
a lot of gray area.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
That is, who makes a decision that someone is not
a net asset to the US. How do you make
a decision about who is incapable of loving our country?
How do you do that? Who undermines domestic tranquility? Who
gets to say who that is? We have just put
a target almost on everybody with a list of criteria
(14:02):
that seems to be up to his discretion. This is
a look, I know you called somebody piggy, he called
another reporter, but what ugly just the other day? And
I know we have a different level or standard for
what we allow this guy to get away with a
it's just Trump. There are some details in here that
(14:24):
if pursued, this is something else and This is why
I wanted to include all of this, folks. We mentioned
some things he says every now and again here, but
this was one that even for me robes and we
read his stuff every single day, jumped out, jumped out
at me. But stay with us, folks here on this
Monday morning run. When we come back, the President did
say that he is now going to re examine green cards,
(14:47):
all green cards of people from particular countries. Will tell
you about that list when we come back. Also coming
up single ray Ja arrested after an ugly live streamed incident.
We'll tell you on this Black Friday where we are
about the load up and head.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Welcome back to this Friday edition, Black Friday edition of
Morning Ron, and we are continuing our conversation about I
was gonna say tweets, but the posts on social media
the President Trump put out on Thanksgiving Day that could,
if enacted and followed through with, would have far reaching
(15:33):
effects in this country. And look, we've said this before.
When he says something, especially when he puts it in writing,
he almost always follows through. So he says, as a
part of this new immigration crackdown, the administration is now
going to re examine all green cards issued to people
from what they call countries of concern, and nineteen countries
specifically were named by President Trump.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
That's what to think all of you might be in
a green car process? Now, is it people who are
already have them they're from these countries, or trying to
get them in the process.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
It sounds like even people who have them already.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Okay, it sounded like that to me as well. The
nineteen countries folks Venezuela, tok Ministan, Sierra Leone, Togo scrangers
went out wrote a Sierra Leone, Laos, Cuba, Samalia, Libya, Oran, Hey,
did you get the idea here of some of these Chad,
Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, Burma, Equatorial Guinea, Yemen, the nineteen
(16:27):
countries that he's mentioned. And again these are yes, we
get it when we hear these in some of the
troubles that exist in those countries. But everybody that comes
here is not necessarily should be assumed to be I mean,
to do us harm, yes, exactly, running from harm where
they are.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
The other concern is with language like this, and it's
it's he doesn't give any room for anything other than
to believe that people coming into this country are ruining
our country.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
It does create I worry.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
For people who are here their safety because it does
create this US versus them mentality.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
And if you're not with us, you're against us.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
If you look different than me, if you have an accent,
if you're from somewhere else, you are probably going to
do me harm. And I am going to do everything
to make your life miserable or to distance myself from you.
It's just tough to think about that being our mentality going.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
Forward, all right, Continue on the run here now with
ray j A single. Ray J A arrested on Thanksgiving.
He has been charged with making a criminal threat. And
story here that kind of you know, it's you can
partly read the details, but you could see them play out.
He did a live stream roles on Thanksgiving Day and
this was an this appeared to be from what we saw,
(17:40):
an ugly domestic situation playing out on a holiday with
maybe sometimes what happens with kids and back and forth
and every city disputes. So the five and seven year
old involved here, Yes.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Princess Love, that is his ex correct and from what
we could see, he was with the kids, she was
claiming that her son told her that there was a
gun on the table. She came to go get the kids.
I understand as a mom, you don't want your kids
walking around with a loaded gun on the table, especially
during a holiday. And so she and another man we
(18:13):
don't know came to get the kids, and he put
it all on live stream. You can hear him threatening,
I'm gonna kill you. I have a gun. And so
police were called and he is now under arrest and
all the evidence is basically was presented on his live
stream for all to see.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
It's pretty irrefutable.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Oo, we talk about this. Yes, it's family time, it's
fun time, getting back together in gratitude, but we do
see we talk about this. Look, this can happen. I
don't know the numbers, but they do one of this.
You get people together, it can be hostile. They could
be alcohol, they could be kids, They could be mixed
and blended families, they could be all in custody disputes,
and that could be some of the stuff that plays out.
(18:55):
You just hate to see it on Thanksgiving. You hate
the five and seven year old kid. We're caught up
in this. So, folks, we just wanted to hop on
and give you a little update about a few things,
and also see how you were doing, and let you
know how we were doing. We had a great Thanksgiving
here yesterday, of course Rose. But the big tradition, certainly
for me, have to be out at them all on
Black Friday, and have to be out at them all
(19:16):
on Christmas Eve. Not because I'm shopping.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
I just like to watch the Oh see, I'll be shopping.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
And the funny thing is we have the kids here,
and when we told them yesterday, I tried to set
it up by saying, so the mall opens at six am.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
And they looked at me like I was crazy.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
And I said this because I said, you know, that
would mean we'd have to get up around four leave
at four thirty am. They look at me and I said,
don't worry, we're gonna We're gonna leave it seven.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
I tried it.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
I tried to make it seem like seven am was
sleeping in. I don't think they really I don't think.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
It worked, and they're not stirring yet.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
I actually I heard someone stirring, Oh wow, we have
a kid up. We have a kid up, folks.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
So whatever you might be doing today, hope. It's say hope.
It's fun, but something we want to leave you with.
It is our quote of the day, again from the
files of TJ. Holmes. Quote. Waiting is not passive. Waiting
means staying active and staying faithful until doors open or
new opportunities arrive. I think it's one of the I'm
(20:16):
gonna remember where I got this, but it drives me right.
Waiting always it's frustrating.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Waiting is the hardest part.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
You're sitting around and doing nothing. But this always reminded me. No,
there there's a pack practice, there's a patience, There is
an active involvement you have to have and waiting for something.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I like that because it's always the in between time.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
That's the hardest time, you know, when you haven't or
you're not able to make a decision, or you're waiting
for someone else to make a decision. I love that
you can be active while you are waiting, and that
will make waiting so much better.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
And take that with you, folks. Waiting is not passive.
Waiting means staying active and staying faithful until doors open
or new opportunities arrive. That opportunity might come for you
Tomorrow night, folks, when the power ball is drawing takes place.
It's up to seven hundred nineteen million dollars. Just want
to give your heads up that is tomorrow night. But
whatever you got going, hope you had a good Thanksgiving,
and enjoy the family time and enjoy the shopping. I'm
(21:09):
teaching Holmes.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
And I'm Amy Roboch. We will run with you very
soon
