Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is sex Lies and Spray Tands with me Cheryl
Burke and iHeartRadio podcast. Hey guys, welcome back to sex
Lies and Spray Tans. It is hair Metal Night. I
am just so happy that production decided to basically just
continue the competition as is for the actual competitors, because
if they were to do back to back hair Metal

(00:23):
Night and Soul Train Night, they would have been exhausted.
And from what I saw from the opening number, though
it wasn't like a big professional number, it definitely hit
the spot if you are a hair metal fan. I am.
I'm not a fan per se, but I definitely appreciate
a good old electric guitarist. And whoever was playing the

(00:45):
electric guitar, I think he was from White Snake. He
was rockin' it, and everyone just is in character. They're
so excited to be there. But I can also feel
the energy. It's different when they're actually live, you know.
And I don't know, maybe it's just because we all
know that Sultrain Night wasn't live. It was pre taped.
But it's scary because there's another double elimination. But I

(01:05):
have to say everyone feels energized. They look great. They definitely.
You know, you got Danny painted his nails, and everyone
is really into it. You can tell with their you know,
introduction after their walkdowns down those separate staircases up there
by the band. But let's just get right into it.
Don't forget you guys. If you want this podcast to continue,

(01:27):
I still need your guys's comments. You make sure you rate,
make sure you review wherever you're listening to this podcast,
as it is vital to the longevity of it. Okay,
and so far you guys have been great, but remember
you can do it multiple times as well. All right,
enough about that, let's get into it. Let's start with
couple number one. We've got Danny and Whitney. Oh and

(01:51):
we've also got a guest judge, Gene Simmons. I've heard
some rumblings, okay, because I'm watching the West Coast feed.
Oh we will see what his remarks were like. Hopefully
they were not offensive. This is not the show to
do that, okay, Okay, and don't waste that good old

(02:11):
extra guest judge seat right there. There's a lot of people,
mister Jeene Simmons that would love to take your place, Okay,
so keep it real Anyway, let's move on to couple
number one, Danny and Whitney. Okay, so Danny and Whitney's package.
They're so adorable, these two. They I think they have

(02:31):
like similar personalities where they're very introverted when rehearsing, but
then on the dance floor they're fire. We need a
fire extinguisher. I don't know that was so corny. Anyway.
I do think that, if anything, Danny's gonna have to
really work on because I don't think he's an egotistical

(02:53):
man like I don't think it comes natural for him.
The pasaobla and you know, as you guys know by
now after thirty three seasons of this, the Pasa Doublay
is all about ego. It's the man's dance, and he
really has to use Whitney as his cape, right. He
is the matador. He runs this town, runs the ballroom.

(03:16):
This one minute and however many seconds. This is all
about Danny, and hopefully he can at least tap into that,
I don't know, maybe athletic attitude under that helmet of his.
But the difference is there's no helmet, so it's all
face and hopefully instead of like sometimes when Danny performs,

(03:37):
he kind of looks like he's thinking instead of really
living in the moment. All he needs to do is
continue to think. All you want just squint those eyes.
We need laser focus from Danny. So I'm going to
be looking for that along with if he actually is
able to really take the lead and control that dance
that you need to control because pasa double, especially if

(04:00):
they're dancing to I think bon Jovi, it's very powerful.
And yeah, he just needs to look like a leading man.
So let's check out their posito blay. Okay, So I
don't know what happened there, but this was definitely sorry,
but Danny and Whitney's worst dance I think. Okay, so
this is what happens where you Okay, So where they

(04:22):
started was the tunnel, and in the tunnel you don't
hear the music, like especially with the audience. You can
hear it during dress rehearsal because there's no audience. But
what I the audience, they were going nuts and he
totally looked the part, but he was not in the
zone whatsoever. Like I could tell from the moment he
got off his bike, like Whitney looked gorgeous. But there

(04:43):
was something not connecting, and I'm not sure what it was.
I think it could have been maybe nerves or but
I don't think so. I think it was the fact
that they couldn't hear the music. Maybe I don't know,
but as soon as he walked up behind her in
the very beginning, like he wasn't in it, meaning like
I don't know if he just blanked or what it was.

(05:04):
This is not something you see from Danny and Whitney
for sure, like he always knows his stuff. But it
could be also that the pasadople is just not his dance,
Like he is not this arrogant, you know, man who
commands the ballroom like it does take a certain personality,
and you know he's also not an actor, but still

(05:25):
you would think that, you know, this is a man's dance,
and this far as I'm concerned, Dandy looks good, like
he's got nothing to hide. I just I don't know
where what that was. I think he was just thrown off.
Maybe he was really nervous and that got the best
of him. Who knows, But I think that he took
his jacket off because his jacket was not it was

(05:45):
restricting his movement. And I just wonder if that was
a last minute edition. Sometimes, you know, after they see
you doing dress rehearsals. So basically all of the executives
and the wardrobe department here and makeup, we get dressed
as if it's like as if we're doing the live
show for dress rehearsal, because if there's any last minute
wardrobe malfunctions or if the makeup doesn't read rite on camera,

(06:08):
that is their chance to change everything. And so they'll
get notes like the head of the makeup department, the
head of hair wardrobe, they'll all get notes like, oh,
you can see a little bit of her butt cheek.
You know, we gotta tape her panties down, or we
need to put those you know, nipple covers on because
we're about to get a sneak peek. You know. There's

(06:29):
little things like that. But this jacket, like for Danny,
it wasn't about Whitney. It was about Danny. And I
just wonder first of all that it just wasn't a
Pasa doblay outfit. There was a way to dress him
to where like he could have worn high waisted, like
high high waisted, meaning like to his nipples high waisted
latin pants with like a sash around his waist, and

(06:52):
he could have had just like heavy metal like not bracelets,
but like bicep you know, to put around his bicep,
and they could have had like little pointy metal things
coming out of him. There was so many different ways
to interpret pasa dooblay. But wearing like a you know,
vegan leather or pleather jacket with all of this accessories,

(07:16):
like metal accessories must have been first of all heavy
and it definitely restricted him, like he wasn't able to
extend his arms. He was just off, poor guy. I
don't I think it was just an honest, just off night.
And with that being said, you know, you can tell
that the jacket wasn't intentional, like he wasn't supposed to
take it off, but about three quarters in. I wish
he would have taken it off a lot earlier, but

(07:37):
with the choreography obviously, I mean, I'm impressed that Danny
even took off his jacket when he did, knowing that
this was not part of his routine. But he was
trying to figure out a time. I can tell he
was thinking, like when can I take this off? When
can I take this off. I just wish that he
would have just been jacketless and shirtless throughout the whole thing.
I think that would have been fine, but it was.
It ruined the rest of the routine as well. It

(07:59):
didn't help put it that way, because you can tell
Whitney was kind of giggling and at the end she
was laughing. And then you see Danny when they walk
up to the judges. He goes, well, that sucked or
something like that. He goes, that was so bad, and
it's just so funny. I just love how Whitney doesn't
take it all too seriously, like, you know, this is
not an end all be all this show. She obviously

(08:20):
has a beautiful family, which is keeping her grounded. I'm
pretty sure of it. So she's really you know, she's
still doing her job and doing it at such a
high level that but she's not letting the pressure get
to her, you know. And I appreciate that attitude something
that I would actually like to see from Danielle as
well eventually. So but I will see with that, right,

(08:41):
I give Whitney and Danny unfortunately a six. This was
not good. Let's see what the judges have to say. Okay,
so look, I think a lot of people were overreacting
in the comments because I thought what Geene Simmons said
was actually quite funny, just saying I mean, of course
I know Whitney. I mean like she wasn't that she

(09:02):
wasn't so uncomfortable like I believe I think her and
Tom Berger run there was something that Tom had said,
like many years ago that really made her uncomfortable, like
authentically uncomfortable, like for real. But this, this was all
fun I mean, hopefully it doesn't get worse than this, Okay,
but we'll see, we'll see. I mean, I guess my
humor is a lot different than most of maybe America's,

(09:23):
but I thought it was really funny. Anyway. What's so
odd to me is that the judges. I mean, I'm assuming,
and I'm pretty like ninety nine point nine percent sure
that the judges watched dress rehearsal, and I know for
sure that was not part of it, like him taking
off the jacket when he if you notice when they
did it in slow motion when the judges were talking,
they showed that part again of him taking his jacket off,

(09:45):
but in slow motion he was laughing. You guys like
this was not in the choreography. Maybe it was, but
maybe it was because it got stuck on him. And
this is the thing when you have rip aways and
you're sweating and its skin against the rip away of
whatever piece of clothing, that is most likely you're not
gonna get it off easily because the nerves right like,

(10:07):
they mind you they have to be on the floor,
so they call you in for the live show like
thirty minutes prior because it is a live show and
they want everybody there, so you know, people are sweating.
I'm sure Danny and Whitney were rehearsing because they're dancing first,
so they had to like get their heart right up.
And this jacket ain't gonna just come off so smooth
like it must have either during dress or maybe it

(10:29):
wasn't ever supposed to come off. I don't know. Let's
see if they mentioned it with Juliane right now. But
I thought it was funny that you can tell that
Whitney was kind of like smiling and laughing at the judges'
comments because obviously this whole thing was a mess, like
it was a whole f up in their minds. They
weren't even listening to the judges because they just totally

(10:50):
butchered their pasa doblay. But let's see what they scored,
Whitney and Danny. Okay, so if you notice Danny like
he mouthed, he swore, but you didn't hear it because
his mic wasn't close to his mouth. But he said,
we we picked up like I fixed up, is what
he said. Anyway, So they got seven to seven. Of

(11:12):
course they got a nine. Mister Jean Simmons himself, he
didn't know which which way to roll. Uh, he didn't
know who was hotter than the other. But I guess
he went both ways, he said, but didn't took it
back after he said that, and then Bruno gave a seven.
So the judges gave Danny and Whitney seven seven nine seven.
Let's move on two couple number two. It's gonna be

(11:37):
Reginald Veil Johnson and Emma Slater dancing a chuccha cha. Okay,
Emma and Reginald. Like I swear, Emma always looks like
she's on the verge of tears because she just feels
for Reggie so much. You can tell she's got so
much compassion and empathy for this man. And he actually
expressed in his package while they were training for the

(11:59):
Cha Cha, you can tell that it was like the
day I think after must have been the next day
or the next morning after the pre tape of Soul
Train night because Emma has the same hair going. You
can always tell by the women's hair, like most likely
you're not going to shower because you but most likely
had a late night trying to choreograph. And then you
have an early heart to heart, which is heart to

(12:21):
heart means when the two people when the couple basically
just kind of, I guess, strips back the performance from
the night before and they just do a little recap
and they just talk about, you know, how they did
and what their goals are for this coming show day.
So with Reggie, you know, you're always even I was like,
I know a lot of the pros, like after such

(12:42):
a long day, like your call time, especially for the women,
it's at like six am and we don't go live
till five pm. And then you know, with all the
emotions as well, on a high, like the adrenaline going
up and down, up and down all day long, and
then you know it's over and then you either go
home or not really go home, because then even if
you get eliminated your call for Good Morning America, if

(13:05):
you're flying, you have to leave that same night. And
if you're doing satellite in the ballroom, you do have
to be there early, really early, like you have to
get up at three am. Most likely you don't sleep,
but if you have continued on to the next round,
you know, the celebrities, I think they just go grab
some food. But also your adrenaline is running through your body,
so you don't sleep right away. Obviously. Anyway, his body

(13:27):
was sore, and he said his legs were really just
not in good shape. He had knee surgery a year ago,
which is not too long ago, and to sign up
for something so physical like Dancing with the Stars, you know,
I think if for Reggie and for Eric, it's all
about just how long can they last? And I think that,
you know, if they are the two eliminated couples or

(13:47):
celebrities going home, I think they would be just fine
with that as well. But you know, they are true professionals,
Like Reginald is a true professional, and he's showing up
for Emma and for himself, and he's not gonna you know,
it's very that he complains right, or that he says
that he's in any negative light. If he's sore, if
he's tired, you don't really hear that from him. That's

(14:07):
the difference between people who have been in the business
versus the newer the newer kids. Anyway, and it's so
sweet of Emma because Emma, you know, he dropped his towel.
Reginald is a sweater and so Emma just grabbed it
for him. It was hard for him to bend down
and grab it. Oh my heart goes out to him. Anyway,

(14:28):
Let's check out their chacha. Emma was a little nervous
about it because she said, you know, chacha is not easy,
and it's not there's a lot I'm sure the music
got a little bit longer, and there's uh chacha. There's
a lot of steps. You know. I wish they would
have given him a rumba or something. But anyway, let's
check out Reggie and Emma's chatcha cha. Okay, So, first

(14:48):
of all, I mean, you can tell that he's exhausted,
Reginald like he looked a little out of it in
the beginning. What I love is that obviously Conrad Green,
the showrunner, is allowing extra know troop to help out
with some of the numbers. I even saw it with
Danny and Whitney. He was, like I've said before here,

(15:09):
you know, he was against it for sure when I
was on. But I'm happy in order to like make
I guess the number because at the end of the day,
this is a show dance, right, and you have to
make it entertaining and with such powerful music like you know,
hair metal, metal music in general, heavy metal, whatever, it
requires either a lot of energy and exaggeration of movement

(15:33):
and sometimes you just need to add extra dancers to
capture that, right, because the song was so powerful. And look,
Reggie did okay, like he was able to do his
New Yorkers. He did basic. He did a basic chatcha.
He didn't really miss any steps there. But you know,
when it comes to him, just like posing and stuff,
I just I know it's not possible, maybe physically possible,

(15:55):
but I wish if his bass wasn't was so narrow
like the way it was. At least I wish his
like chin was up further and that his chest and
just his attitude, you know, just to he's an actor like,
you know, show the arrogance and you know, maybe just
squint the eyes a little bit to show the intensity.

(16:15):
But he did great. This is definitely one of his
better dances. I give Reggie and Emma a five. Let's
hear what the judges have to say. Okay, I don't
know what these judges comments were like, and Derek was
able to plug his tour, so that's good. Other than that,
I don't know if anything that they said that they

(16:36):
can take back and actually use if they are not
eliminated tonight, right, so I thought, I mean, obviously Gene
Simmons is gonna just you know, he was great with
what he said, I believe because he's not a judge,
a permanent judge that has been on the show for
thirty three seasons. But I don't know, I think it's
so important too. Yes, you can compliment these couples, but

(17:02):
if there's something to work on, like give them a
couple of notes the three judges just saying it would
really help, like you know, instead of saying, you know,
your your upper body looks good, but it could be better,
like he could have been more intense, you know, And
as far as Karen saying that he's got less steps

(17:24):
than anybody else. I don't know about that. Actually, I
thought he did pretty. I thought Reginald did good like
he actually you could see that he was doing the
chatcha and he did it on time. So if anything,
like at least point out the musicality was better, he
had more content. Now what he could do is when
he stands there, he needs to command the ballroom, and
his chest needed to be open. Maybe just even just

(17:47):
standing there, like I would have said to him, let
me see what you look like if you just put
your chin up, like even just that would help, right,
because in ballroom you have to always present yourself like
that actually as a man. So anyway, it's just frustrating.
Let's see what the judges gave Emma and Reggie for
their scores. Okay, so the judges gave Reginald and Emma

(18:13):
six five five five, so fine. Gene Simmons is hysterical
as far as I'm concerned. He was like slowly, he
did not he saw the reaction to Derek's five, and
he just he slowly put his paddle up. I thought
it was funny. Anyway, Let's move on too. I love
also how Reginald and Emma. They don't just take they
don't take themselves so seriously like he's just he's just

(18:37):
like the scores are the scores like send me home
at this point, No, I'm kidding, But let's move on
to the couple that was on top of the leaderboard.
I think for the last few weeks or the last
two weeks or three weeks, Brandon Armstrong and Chandler Kinney
dancing a jive. Oh, she's had so I don't know
if she has stamina issues, but like I don't know

(18:58):
if it was fatigue last night that I saw issues,
Meaning like this is a lot and I think what
needs to be taught, and because jive is so intense
and it's high intensity, you know, there's so much packed
into that short amount of time that I think her,
like Brandon, really being able to teach breath would help

(19:22):
not only her stamina, but would help her settle her
hip when needed, and would help with just the quality
of movement so she doesn't dance so high. Because like
I said, you know, I've been thinking about Chandler a
lot and over the last twenty four hours at least,
and I just realized that I think it's because yes,
she's smiling and she's entertaining, but what she's not doing

(19:43):
is just taking a breath like a inhale through the
nose and out through the mouth, which will get her grounded, right,
and she won't dance so high. But let's see their jive.
I'm really excited to see this. Okay, so their package.
I have a feeling that these two because there's not
gonna be a lot of struggle. Maybe, but I have
to say, the reason why Chandler mentioned that she felt

(20:05):
like she was a deer on ice is because she
was rehearsing in socks. She was doing pivots in socks,
sliding and slipping like Bambi all over the place. Okay,
that's the reason. I'm not sure if they're going to
be wearing a proper attire tonight for their live performance.
But that is the reason why she felt so unstable,

(20:27):
duh like Brandon. And also that's not safe, like at
least take the sock if you're gonna rehearse without dance shoes,
like put the sock half on, half off, which is
just I hate, like it's my pet peeve. You guys
know this, No socks put some like teaching shoes on.
That's what my coach would always say to me. Wendy.

(20:47):
For those of you that i've listened to this podcast,
you know who Wendy is. She's my coach. She was
my secret weapon during Dancing with the Stars. And she said,
if you're not gonna wear your heels, wear at least
teaching shoes, which is basically a girl version of what
the always wear as far as or some of them,
at least cuban heels go right like so that you
still can practice pointing your feet. You can do that

(21:09):
in a teaching shoe. Okay, okay, anyway, let's check out
their dance. I mean also, their package was really fun.
You know, she was trying to be a rebel. I
thought it was cute. And yeah, because there's not a
lot of struggle, maybe I think this is what happens
when you don't have a lot of struggle. They need
to create a package for you, meaning the producers. So

(21:30):
they're gonna just say, okay, well it is hair metal night.
You're gonna have to steal the toilet paper from the bathroom,
unplug Gleb and Brooks's music, and chew gum and put
into the camera. Anyway, it was really funny. I don't
know who that producer is, but uh, it was funny.
New People, guys, new era, New People, new show. Let's

(21:50):
check out Brandon and Chandler's jive. Okay, so she did
wear dance She wore those like dance boots, which is fine,
love it. I didn't love her outfit only because it
didn't do her any good, meaning like I wish just
I wish the pants that she wore. I mean, I

(22:12):
loved the costume and look, I just wish they were
baggier so that there was more movement. When she was spinning,
she looked. Okay, I'm not going to say I mean,
I'm only saying this the word, but she's not heavy. Okay,
but the jive is supposed to be light, right, and
they're supposed to bounce, and she just didn't have the tick.
Her kicks were too far out. She didn't kick towards

(22:33):
the floor, so she kicked out, which cause which actually
takes way more energy than keeping everything compact. Like when
you do these kicks and flicks, you have to have
the bounce from your standing leg right then the kick
happens as a reaction from the bounce, but you have
to almost It's like without the bounce, you're going to

(22:54):
kick the hardwood floor. So that's why you have to
bounce using your standing leg, using your ankles, and the
bending and straightening and bending like you're on a trampoline
bouncing on one leg, and then you kick, then you kick,
then you got to use your knees to get those
legs up and then kick again, and then you've got
to rebound, like the end all be all, isn't the kick.
It was almost like she kicked and then she didn't

(23:16):
bring it back fast enough because her kicks were too
far outwards instead of down and compact into the floor,
Like you almost want to do these kicks and flicks
and think of keeping your inner thighs together though they're
not going to be, but you want to feel like
you have this elastic band around both of your legs
and that it's forcing your legs to close. Because jive

(23:37):
is so fast, you have to keep everything compact. Same
thing like in salsa without the kicks and flicks. You've
got to keep your steps tiny. And she just I
think she felt like with heavy metal and I hate
I've done a few heavy metal jives I have to say,
just preference. I hate Heavy Metal Night because it is
so intense that like there's no dynamics. It's only go go, go,

(23:59):
go go, you know. I mean, I'm sure you can
actually make it dynamic, but I just feel like she
was exhausted. She looked tired. She really like in the beginning,
it was good, it was strong, but I think that
again you have to savor the energy, you have to
really figure out because she's so good, I think it's
important now they really work on those details, kind of

(24:21):
like Zendeia in a way in Vow you can tell
that because she was so advanced that they were able
to work the details that set them apart. Regardless. If
she didn't, she didn't win, which is ridiculous. But regardless,
they were clearly the best couple. And it's because they
worked on the details. And I just feel like the Jive,
I guess, I don't know, maybe Brandon didn't work on

(24:42):
the finer details with Jive. It just looked too big,
meaning it just didn't look crisp. Jive is supposed to
be crisp, sharp, precise when it comes to kicks and flicks,
like if you had little cones like you need to
aim at you got to hit a cone every single time.
It's got to be that precise on the floor. Anyway,
I don't I think this was one of her worse performances,

(25:05):
but not bad obviously, still solid. I give Brandon and
Chandler an eight. Let's hear what the judges have to say. Okay, yeah,
I have to say. I mean, I'm surprised Derek didn't
say anything because when they showed slow motion, as far

(25:27):
as her drive goes, like, she clearly didn't have the
right bounce like she she looked heavy in not heavy guys.
I'm not talking about her body whatsoever. She has perfection,
but she just looked tired. She didn't pump her legs
or her knees as far as I'm concerned, Like especially
coming from like Shirley and Quirky ballast Mark's parents. Congratulations Mark,

(25:47):
by the way, guest judge, woo woo chow. You better
show them just saying I'll be here right here, don't
you worry rooting you on. I'm so happy for Mark.
I love that they're having him as a guest judge. Anyway,
So Derek and Julianne were also trained by his parents,
who I have to say, they're one of the best
drivers in the world and they always have taught, you know,

(26:09):
pumping your legs, like having that rebound and that bounce
and keeping your knees up. And she just didn't like
her rumba walks in a way like her chatcha. Like
I said, you know, it's important that she really flexes
her legs, like she needed to dance more on the
ball of her That's what it is. She needed to
dance more on the balls of her feet instead of

(26:30):
keeping her foot flat her standing leg so whenever she kicked,
you can tell her heel was still stuck to the ground.
She should have bouncy, bouncy. So hard to do this, guys,
I have to show you, but I can't because I'm
stuck to this mic at the moment. But and you're
not going to see it anyway. However, she definitely there
was a lot of room for improvement. So I'm a

(26:51):
little bit shocked that Derek didn't give them a note
that they could have used and take and took back
with them in the dance studio. I agree with Carrie
Anne have been Sharper and yeah, it wasn't her best
dance for sure. Let's see what the judges scored Chandler
and Brandon. Okay, so the judges gave Chandler and Brandon
eight eight, nine to eight. Let's move on to Gleb

(27:14):
and Brooks dancing. Aha, ja, let's see this hot and
steamy couple. Hopefully there's no gimmicks tonight. Okay, So Brooks
and Gleb's package. Clearly we saw this in the actual
skybox with Julianne when they got their scores. You could

(27:37):
tell like you saw Gleb roll his eyes. I mentioned
this in last night's or yesterday's recap for Soul Train
Night that he needed to like save the dirty look
for when the cameras weren't rolling and then they caught
them backstage. Something I want to point out that the
show used to do. They used to I mean, I'm
pretty sure they're still micd right, so there they have

(27:57):
put mics in our dresses and in our cost in
general to get like any instant reaction from the couples.
They used to show like what we would say to
our partners or vice versa right after we performed, which
was a raw and authentic reaction, so like, for instance,
you would have heard Danny Tonight say god, I e

(28:19):
ft up, or like you would have heard him really
in scene actually react to his performance instead of just
hearing him or guessing what he's mouthing right like, because
you don't hear them because they're not miked. I mean
they're miked, but they're not the mic isn't being held
to their to their mouths, but also maybe their MIC's

(28:39):
are not hot in their costume, meaning like they're not on.
But it's important because I just this is what I
believe the show is. Still it's on the right path,
but it's still missing the authentic reactions and moments like
it still seems a little too scripted for me as
far as the packages go. I don't know why their
recap of their rum but from the night before was

(29:01):
like a whole nother type of song. Don't even want
to say what it was, but it was like an
adult movie. Why didn't they just use the song that
they danced to as their recap? It was odd anyway
you can tell that you know at least he you know,
Gleb basically said this is fingbs and at least that

(29:24):
was authentic, right, so you really got that. But and
I can tell Gleb is really wanting to do well
for himself and for Brooks and vice versa, and Brooks
wants to be She's ready, like she's ready to be challenged.
So as promised in their heart to heart in the studio,
Gleb said, I'm gonna give you more chatcha content basically,

(29:45):
so let's see if he does. Hopefully she straightens to
bend those legs, just saying okay, So definitely got a
lot more content. And I just I loved Brooks's attitude,
like she was no bs. I was a little nervous
that she wasn't wearing a skirt or any type of

(30:05):
fringe like I wish she had fringe pants actually because
it would have covered up the stiffness I saw in
her chatchat locks. But okay, there is a butt to
all of this. Ninety percent of the routine was amazing.
Like there, It's interesting because it's when she's not connecting
to Gleb, meaning like when they're not looking at each other,
she looks lost. She doesn't know where to look. But

(30:28):
like I said, always be aware, don't perform to the
camera no matter what the producers say, the director, it
doesn't matter. Stay with your partner because that's when she's
like the strongest, that's when she feels the most confident.
And that's where these two their chemistry is actually working
in their benefit because she feels safe with Gleb and
Gleb she really does, because then she wouldn't have been

(30:50):
able to do that ending, which was spectacular. But like
what she did, those kicks, those karate kicks on that
stripper pool. I know that stripper pole. Yes, I borrowed
it from Cody and I because Cody was That was
actually fun. Fact when before we got COVID, we were
supposed to use stripper poles for our Britney Spears Jazz number,
but obviously then we just waited to use it for

(31:13):
our freestyle because we made it to the freestyle. Anyway,
that stripper pole has been used and abused as it should.
But I've tried stripper pole dancing as well. That shit
is not easy, folks. Okay, okay, So she is strong, obviously,
she's got like that hard rock body, and she's just
hot and sexy. Her hair. I love her hair the
whole look was great. I just wish that she wore
black fringe pants, that's all. But I have to say

(31:36):
her walk walk chat cha cha, which was the beginning
when they did Chacha locks in the beginning. Once Gleb
got to her, they were stiff again because she's not
she's dancing she I think they're so worried about the
straight legs, right, but now that they've mastered that in
a way, you got to work on the in betweens.
Every couple can do this actually on for this season.

(31:59):
It's it's not about the final picture because like that's obvious, right.
If that needs to be worked on, then work on it.
But really it's about how you get into that final picture.
There was just those couple of moments where she just
looked stiff. But other than that, her freaking New Yorkers amazing.
Her swivels even better, and the fact that she even
looked like that without so much movement on her bottom

(32:21):
half was very impressive. They attack this. I hated Glob's
wet wig. He did not need that wig. It was
so distracting. He's got a beautiful face. I wish he
just wore nothing. I mean, not like that. I just
wish meaning on his head like he didn't need it,
like at all. This is about the celebrity, and she
has enough hair for the both of them. It was

(32:41):
it was a little distracting, but I have to say
this was their best dance by far. I give Brooks
and Gleb actually an eight. Good job, guys, keep it going.
Let's check out the judges' scores. Okay, so this is
where Gene Simmons is a rookie. He changed his mind

(33:02):
after he put in the score, which was originally a nine,
and then when they got the scores officially live, it
was eight eight ten eight. However, you can tell, like
so the hosts wear ear pieces, though Tom Bergeron has
said he never actually wore his because it would distract him.
But I could tell, like from going, you know, being
a part of that family for so many years and

(33:23):
going through different co hosts. Tom was always a constant.
But I could tell when sometimes it's distracting for the
co host. But for Juliane, she seems to be handling
it well. But I guess they must have been screaming
in her ear like announce this. He actually put in
a nine out of ten because that would have been
the first ten given of the season, so I'm happy
that they were able to change it live because that

(33:44):
would have caused a lot of controversy if it wasn't
settled right then and there. So good on Julianne to
act fast because and to listen to what whoever was
talking in her ear and to be able to do
that so quickly and then get the audience back to
cheering after they bowed so loud. Anyway, let's move on
to Riley Arnold and Stephen Netoschik. Now. I know I

(34:05):
was hard on them last night for their quick step,
and they've got a foxtrot, so I mean, look, there's
going to be a lot more freedom for them in
this dance. Like I said yesterday in the recap for
Soultraine Night, that this is not a standard dance, meaning
that they don't have to stay and hold, but they
should showcase some content as far as ballroom hold goes.

(34:28):
Let's see how they interpret a foxtrot, which I'll be
interested to hear what music that is to hair Metal
night right now. Okay, so let's check them out. Okay,
So look, they show basically, I just don't understand why
they're working on musicality. I mean for me. I know

(34:50):
Bruno said that, but I think what was important to
work on and to focus on in this package was
his frame, not his musicality. Like the musicality is not bad.
I think Steven X he has great musicality. It's nothing.
It's not like he's not off to the point where
I'm pointing it out right, like I would say that
would have been his best trait for the quick step.

(35:10):
He was never off time. It was just that they
weren't in sync because of the frame and because there
was no connection like what I'm seeing. And I saw
it again in their rehearsal for the Fox Trot so
and this is tough because I'm sure Riley was being told, Okay, well,
we have to focus on Bruno's note. And I think

(35:30):
this is why it's important for the judges to give
notes so that they can choose between the three as
far as like the pros could get involved. I don't
want to work on his timing because I feel like
his timing was fine. I would like to work on
Derek's note maybe, or Carrie Ane's note. But if there's
only one option of notes being given during the live
show then that's all they have to work with. And
unfortunately that wasn't the problem anyway. Ugh, I just hope

(35:54):
that they actually work on their frame. Whether or not
they want choose to use this for the package is
irrelevant and out of their control. But I see what's happening.
So what is happening is is that they're faking it.
So they're just meaning like I know that sounds harsh.
For example, they showed them doing a throwaway oversway twice
and twice she fell like she was off balance because

(36:20):
he needed to go the opposite way. And then with
keeping your frame still, and if you're having that heavy
head that I talked about, like as if someone's pulling
your ponytail back, and for example Riley is also pulling back,
but the opposite way. If you are completely on balance

(36:41):
and in the right position, the act in your arms
are still right and your frame is still you will
have a natural counterbalance and you'll have a natural pull
from body weight pulling back his body weight versus her
body weight. We'll have that now natural pool and that
tug like the lead that you need right and if

(37:04):
your arms are still then that should happen, and that's what.
That's how people are on balance when they do the
throway oversway. It's so much harder to explain this with words.
But if you are naturally like an opposition right from
one another. If you're doing ring around the rosie, for example,
and your arms are staying in that same position because
you need it to create the speed to go around

(37:25):
in a circle, that is the pool that I'm talking about.
The natural body weight is not happening from the muscle
of your arm. It's happening because your body weight, your
full body weight, like your head is I think the
heaviest part on your body for sure, And if you
use that and keep your arm still, then it should
create natural counterbalance between the couple. That is what is

(37:47):
needed and his posture like what he needs to do
is he needs to rest his shoulders onto his lateral
muscles and basically hold his arms. I hope I was
hoping too that she would take out the posture barks.
That would help as well, because it gets you in
the right position. Emmett lived in that posture bar like
honestly up until show day. Every time we had a
ballroom dance, he would have that thing strapped to him.

(38:11):
He even asked me if he can put it in
his dance suit during the live show. I don't know.
I'm a little nervous to watch this foxtrot, but let's
check it out. And he's so endearing, like he's honestly,
Steven is so cute, and he's really trying hard, and
he's so respectful, and you know, he's loved and I
see now why people are so in love with him,

(38:31):
because like, how what is there not to love, you know,
and he's trying so hard. I just I think he
would be better if he was instructed in a way
to where honestly, if he was able to be taught better. Unfortunately,
let's just see their foxtrot, Okay, so I have to

(38:53):
say this is better, a little bit better than their
quick step. Not a lot better, but a little bit.
Their throwaway over say, actually was the best part about it.
If I'm just talking content, I wish there was more content.
I know that the music was not necessarily a classic foxtrot,
but there is a timing to it, and you can
dance in between the music, like I know. I mean,

(39:16):
this is what for example, Alona and Alan did last night.
They danced to Lady marmalade, which I said was a chacha,
but they were able to interpret it like a foxtrot,
because at the end of the day, you can actually
do foxtrots to chacha music. You just have to dance
on the whole beat, right, and dance through the music
instead of dance on the obvious beat of the song.

(39:40):
And I wish that it was a little bit more
like that car and that prop and the electric guitarist,
who's amazing. But it just took up half the floor,
so they only had half the flori to work with,
and when you do that, it's hard to glide. It's
hard to use the length of your legs and the
power of your legs when you only have half that floor,

(40:00):
Like it looks so much bigger, I'm telling you on
television than it actually is. It's not that big. And
then if you're going to cut it in half, it's
even worse, especially when you have a dance that travels
and that needs to actually glide across the floor a
few times, not just once, so that's difficult. And then
on top of it, Okay, so this is what was
missing when they were doing their feather step, which they

(40:21):
only did one of before they did a telemark into
a thrower oversway and the rest was just eh. It
wasn't necessarily foxtrot like they did a couple grape vines.
But the reason why he's a little stiff, though his
frame was a lot better. Now that his frame is
a lot better compared to the quick step, that is,

(40:43):
though it can be better. But I'm going to talk
about his footwork because foxtrot you need to glide. You
need to always have contact with the floor with your feet,
like you really need to feel the bottom of your
foot to the floor. You need to make love to
the with your foot. And what he was doing, he
was just he was walking on stilts like he had

(41:05):
no heel leads, and he didn't brush the floor like.
You need to basically use the power of your standing
leg by slowly lowering your body weight onto one leg
to then use that power between the two people to
then take a long stride with a heel lead, to

(41:27):
then slowly rise up from bending to straightening onto like
relevy onto your toes, and then to slowly come back down.
I think what needs to be practiced is also I
said this in the beginning with other couples they need
to practice weight transferring his weight and then on one leg.
He needs to do these exercises, and he's an athlete,

(41:49):
so he can do it until it perts and burns.
He needs to literally pretend he's jumping on a trampoline
in slow motion. He needs to lower right. He needs
to lower and keep his body upper body still lower,
meaning slowly flex your legs right you're let's say you're
on your left leg, slowly bend and then slowly rise
up onto your toes and then do it again like

(42:10):
one hundred times each foot. That's what I would do
with him, because it's all about the control of your
legs and feet and having that awareness of where your
body weight is. Because he was just walking like on stilt,
and that's what caused it to not look as smooth.
Foxtrot is smooth, and in order to glide, you need

(42:32):
to understand how to slowly straighten and bend your legs
onto one leg and to the other leg. You're not
ever doing it on split weight. You're never You're never
stretching and like straightening and lowering on two feet, it's
only one leg and onto the other leg. I wish

(42:53):
I could show you guys. Anyway, maybe I'm making zero
sense to you, but that's what's missing, is the fluidity again,
and it's the in betweens. It's those transitions, not just
the final product here. But I have to say the
throwaway over sway was actually pretty good. I think also
Riley doesn't need to do such a deep lunge because

(43:14):
it was too much in a way. It almost look
like she was going to go into a split. And
if they actually used their body weight, like if they
had counterbalance within the couple, they would be such a powerhouse.
Ough another couple I would love to just teach for
a few hours. Anyway, I give Riley and Steven a seven.

(43:36):
Let's see what the judges have to say. Okay, so
yet the judges. I do love Derek's note, but I
wish he would have explained further though I know there's
not a lot of time as to how he is
supposed to glide. Hopefully they're listening to this podcast, because
I think I pretty much tried my very best to
explain this in detail, and if I was sitting there,

(43:57):
I probably would have been cut off a long time
ago because it took me for to explain this but yeah,
I think what he's saying is you need to keep
you need to make love to the floor with your feet.
That's all I can say. And I'm not sure what
Bruno is saying about heel leads. I didn't see one
heel lead because he was so high up on his toes,
looking like he was in a way dancing on stilts.
But his frame was one hundred percent better for sure.

(44:18):
And my score did get better for them, you know.
I gave them a six for their quick step and
gave them a seven for their fox trot. This guy
is really taking this seriously and he's only going to
get better. I do feel like the scoring is so
high this season. I don't know why. It's only like
I know, Bruno said, it's halfway through the competition. We're
not halfway yet. It's only a week four. Technically it's
show four. There's like ten or eleven shows ten, I think,

(44:40):
but still not halfway. There's still so much more room
for improvement. But if you're given out eights and nine's
already week what this is only show four, that's crazy.
Where do you go from there? Judges? Anyway, the judges,
speaking of gave a consistent score of four eights all around. Okay,
let's move on to Daniella and Dwight. I hope that

(45:02):
he will never do what he did last night, which
is not put in the time needed to be able
to execute a dance. Pasa do blay should be a
good dance for him. He is already such a leading
man with just the way he looks. Hopefully he can
take up the space and really stretch his arms and
make him look even taller, like a foot taller than

(45:26):
he already is. Seriously, and I think I hope this
is their redemption dance. Let's check out Danny and Dwight. Okay,
so you see Danny in Dwight's package, and you can
tell that he was really upset that he was in
the bottom of the leader board. They are not traveling,
they're in the Dancing with the Stars rehearsal space, and

(45:47):
he really is putting in the work. And so Danny
basically said, you know, he's working really hard and in
order to stay out of the bottom, yeah, gonna have
to step it up basically. And I can just tell
right away that Dwight is gonna kill this dance, like
for real, and especially with a teacher like Danielle, and
I'm sure Pasha helped as well as far as a

(46:09):
man's perspective goes, which always helps in the pasa doblay.
It's so hard to teach as a female pro if
you don't have someone there like as a just as
somebody who can really see how a man dances pasa dobla.
It's just so much harder because then we have to
tap into our masculinity and at the end of the day,
we don't want our partners looking like us. But when

(46:31):
it comes to creating the presence and that arrogance that
you need, like I hope dwighte just eats up the
ballroom with his beautiful body, like being able to create
the space needed and create beautiful big shapes. I can't
wait to see this. Let's check out their pasa doble. Okay,

(46:54):
so talk about breathing, like, I have to say, Dwight
was definitely using his breath to his advantage. That's what
I mean. I think every single contestant could actually take
a note from him when it comes to that. Now,
did he use his length to his maximum? No, he
did not, And he danced a little bit on like
bent legs. The thing with Pasa Doublay is you have

(47:17):
to be very precise. So if your feet are supposed
to be closed, then they need to be closed, because
when you do these appels or stomps, when you both
like put your body weight into the floor and your
feet are apart, it just looks sloppy. He's dancing in
between two feet. Because I'm going to just say it
as it is now. Did he forget his movements in
his choreography? No? That was better. But I think it's now,

(47:40):
you know, show four, and we're we're going to just
pretend last week didn't happen because or last night, because obviously,
if you're already in this competition and you're still in it,
especially come next week, there is no excuses for you
not remembering your choreography. But I have to say there
was beautiful basic movement. I love how much partnering that
they're doing these two regardless of their height. That's really hard.

(48:03):
He still, I have to say, maintained an okay posture.
Could he have looked down his nose more and gotten
rid of that hump in his back? Yes, he should
have moved his hips like literally his pelvis needed to
go forward, which would have created his upper body to
go back for balance, and that would have straightened out
his back a little bit. But what happens is because

(48:25):
of the high difference, obviously, naturally he wants to see Daniella.
But he could still see Daniella down his nose without
having to ruin or bend his neck down towards Daniella.
But they did miss a few connections when it comes
to like her spinning and you know, he let go.
And that ending was so scary because I thought that
she wasn't gonna make it, and I believe they were

(48:46):
a little close to the audience and maybe that wasn't
what it was during rehearsal, because that's dangerous. I'm happy
she's okay. I hope. I haven't seen the after you
know effect of that dance yet because I haven't heard
what the judges have to yet or their scores. But overall,
it was a big improvement. I wouldn't say it's a
redemption dance, but it's definitely a big improvement from last night.

(49:08):
I give Danny and Dwight a seven. Let's see what
the judges have to say. Okay, So Dwight and Daniella
got an eight and three sevens, and I just love that.
I can't believe Dwight went to an actual bullfight. That's amazing,
and I just love how he's taking it seriously. I think,
if anything, if it's if you're not gonna be prepared,

(49:31):
the first three weeks is the way to go. But
now that he's experienced that and had to freestyle, as
Derek mentioned from for Soul Trade Night, because he wasn't prepared,
I'm pretty sure as an athlete you're not the best
at what you do, just purely based off of entertainment
value and winging it right like he's one of the
best basketball players. Maybe not in the world. I don't know.

(49:54):
I don't watch basketball, but he's obviously on the show
because he is known as a basketball player, and I
highly doubt that he'd be playing a game if he
wasn't prepared. I'm sure the coach would have sit him
out right. So I don't think this was a good feeling.
You can tell he's taking it seriously and the competition
has just started for him tonight. Let's move on to

(50:14):
the next couple, Britt Stewart and Eric Roberts dancing another positoblay. Okay,
I just love Eric's story. I mean it's horrible and
horrendous what he went through, but I love that he
is taking on this challenge. I mean, he said it himself.

(50:35):
He's got a balance on one foot, but he's actually
having trouble because of his car accident just to balance
on two. But from what I'm seeing, like there are
some brilliant moments of him like really shaping his body.
The way Britt was coaching him during their package was
actually makes me really excited to see what Eric is
going to execute. So let's check out their posito play. Okay.

(51:01):
I thought this was definitely one of Eric's best dances.
For sure, he really, I would say, took in that
role he commanded. I would say the ballroom for the
most part, especially in comparison to like his other dances.
Compared to his other dances, he definitely felt more comfortable.
I love whenever I see him lip syn because then

(51:23):
you know that he's not in his head as much.
I have to say, you know, pasa doobli. I've said
this is a marching dance. So what he did and
what Britt taught him as far as choreography and having
her be the accents of the choreography. I even saw
an attempt to do twist turns. Those are not easy
at all. He did a lot of appels. He created

(51:44):
shape for the most part. And yes, because of his injury,
he is just not as agile and he's not able
to create like long strides with his actual footwork and
his legs in his leg position. But I have to
say overall, this was definitely one of his best dances.
I give britt and Eric a five. Let's see what

(52:07):
the judges have to say. Okay, so the judges gave
brit and Eric six ' five six five six '
five six five. Yeah, that's it anyway, I just want
to talk about the true holy hell Roman, hot as
hell perfect for hair metal Night, that's for sure. They
looked so good. I love it. I love his attitude

(52:28):
and a couple more seasons is true. I'd like to
see this man as a pro one day, just saying
work on the teaching side of things. I don't know
what his teaching. I've never met this guy before, but
I would say teaching is a whole nother skill, So
start learning how to do that. If you don't already anyway,
back to Eric and britt, you know, it was funny

(52:51):
because their chemistry up there with Julianne, like he was
literally just answering her questions short and sweet, and she goes,
is this another nothing moment? And he was like no,
and he got kind of cut off. But you know,
you can tell that he's a little nervous and he's
a little discouraged with the scores. But we'll see if
he gets saved or if he's part of the double

(53:12):
elimination tonight. I think either way, regardless of what happens,
whoever gets eliminated, you know, everyone really did try their best,
for sure, and I hope he doesn't get to discourage.
And I agree with Carrie on actually that you know,
you can tell that he's slowly getting comfortable being back
in his body because there is and there is a
disassociation that happens whether it's with trauma. I mean also

(53:34):
this car accident was a sign of trauma to his
body as well, so I'm sure in order to survive
that and to get through he needed to disassociate. Especially
I'm not a doctor. I just know this from my
own personal work and therapy, you know, going through trauma myself,
but in a different way. I definitely know how to
disassociate when needed, still to this day as a survival mechanism. Anyway,

(53:58):
I'm proud of them, and I'm really proud of brit
and regardless of what happens, you know, he did a
great job and he's able to check this off his
list of accomplishments that he has done. Anyway, let's move
on to the next couple, which is Alan and Alona
dancing a jive. Okay, so Elona and Alan's package was cute.

(54:21):
They went to the gym. I actually saw this on
their Instagram. I thought they were just going to the
gym for fun, but obviously no, there's always an intention
behind everything, and because there's not a lot of time
and how consuming the show is, they definitely shot that
as part of their package. I'm sure it was. You know,
it took probably half their day to do. So I'm
really curious to see their jive. I would love for

(54:43):
her to use, you know, the jive still with attack,
because you're supposed to. But also just I love the
fact that they gave her a jive for hair Metal
Night because it's not like this cheerleading, you know, cute
style of jive. It's go to be like this powerful
powerhouse of a couple. I hope. Let's see if she

(55:06):
is able to execute a proper drive OI. Okay, So
this is the thing when a celebrity starts by herself
and you give her content or him content in general,
you're gonna most likely if you're not guided, if you're
not a dancer, right, which Alna has said she's not,

(55:26):
the chances of her maybe not dancing the like potaburet
step right the sailor shuffles is likely going to be
off time. And so she started off wrong. So she
was off beat. I'm pretty sure Bruno saw it. I'm
not so sure. When you're standing on top of the
judges table like that, you you know, the judges can't

(55:47):
really see what's going on. But she started off the
wrong beat, and I think she just was off in general.
I think that was the start of not her best dance.
Put it that way her it was almost too hard.
I think this routine like I think when somebody has
no dance experience, I would be very cautious with giving
them any type of solo on top of doing anything

(56:10):
side by side where you don't have a grip on
your partner. You know, not every single person is going
to be great at all styles. Like definitely, when I competed,
I was better at certain Latin dances than others. Like
I've said before, jive was never my thing. Okay, doesn't matter,
like I always hated jive in general. There was some

(56:31):
times where my jive would be okay, but it's just not.
My body type doesn't want a jive, okay, put it
that way. It would scream at me stop doing this
bouncy stuff anyway, And I feel like it's the same
for Ilona. I appreciate that she was wearing like those
dance boots. I think it restricted her. Alan had a
lot more energy in that sense than her because he
was in sneakers. He felt probably more comfortable, but still

(56:54):
it looked like he outdanced her. They weren't in sync.
She didn't. You know, those kicks and flicks really hard
to do. I wish she had more of a like
maybe a skirt that hid more, which means that more movement,
So that I wish you wore like even fringe pants
to be quite honest, that you can get away with

(57:15):
a lot when you have fringe, and because she wore boots,
and then there was like she wore a mini skirt.
She has a beautiful, beautiful body, right, and so she
should be wearing stuff like that. But when you're dancing
and your footwork isn't perfect you see everything right, and
it does shorten the leg when you wear a high
boot like that that basically takes up half of like

(57:36):
all the way to your I would say a quarter
of your calf. It's hard to really see the straightening
and bending of the legs, like that actual rebound that
you need and that bounce in the jive that you
need in the tick. So that was missing. So it
looked a little bit flat footed for my taste. And
then there was a few missing connections. She just didn't

(57:56):
look that into it, to be quite honest, and it's
hard to get into. I have to say I struggle
with it too. Who did I dance? I dance a
jive with William Levy. I think to hair Metal Night
or it was I don't know what the actual theme was,
but it was definitely of this genre. And it's just
not It doesn't make me want to get up and dance,
and I can tell it's the same for Elona and

(58:17):
even for like Reginald, Like definitely Soul Trained was something
that both Elona and Reginald felt way more than tonight.
But that's okay, they're not going anywhere. Let's just see
what the judges have to say. I hope Alona isn't
too hard on herself about just you know, everyone has
an off night, that's all. I give Alan and Alona

(58:37):
a six. Oh my god, my heart breaks for Elona, Like, oh,
she is so passionate at what she does, and she
can tell that the negative self talk was just so
loud in her head. And I hope she knows she's amazing.
And Carriean's right, like her vulnerability is this is what
I mean. You have to be vulnerable on the show,

(59:00):
Like if you hold back the emotion, it's only going
to come back as toxic waste in your body and
it's gonna make you actually like exerted out in other forms.
And I love how transparent Alona is, like she's not
she can't hold back her tears. And this is what
I mean. Do you hear the ballroom like they were
going nuts? And yes, like the judges did say, and

(59:22):
because she did, like she messed up and it just
threw her off. And I can tell as soon as
I think she knew that she was maybe off time
or maybe I don't know if Alan told her during
the dance. I don't think he did, but like you know,
you can tell that she was just off. Her eyes
were like they weren't in the zone. You know, as
an athlete, she definitely knows that. And some nights and

(59:44):
some dances, you're gonna have an off night. And I
just love how much she cares. And I'm telling you
because of her vulnerability. Mark my words. This woman is
first of all, not going anywhere, but not only that,
she's gonna make it till the end. I believe. I'm
just saying, just gonna put my money on them. Not
as a winner, I didn't say that, but I believe
at least as a semi finalist, if not finalists. Okay,

(01:00:06):
let's see what their scores are. Oh my god, I'm
voting for Alona tonight. Oh her vulnerability. This is what
I mean. Hey, people over there witnessing this in the skybox,
all right, Like we all want to cry sometimes, so
just do it. Don't hold it back, like show whatever
emotion you're like, you can tell everyone, even like Steve.

(01:00:27):
Look at Steven. Everyone looks so crazy right now with
their wigs. I have my laptop on pause and the
show and everyone looks nuts, including Alan hugging her with
his long ass hair like that, like laying over his
whole shoulder and face over when he was hugging Alona,
Like this is amazing. And I just love her vulnerability.
I love that she's just not you know, she is

(01:00:50):
who she is, and she's just so upset, and I
just hope, please, if you're listening, do not be so
hard on yourself. And you know, Bruno is right, like,
learn from it. But she is going to come back stronger.
I mean honestly, she could literally next week. I'm telling you,
she could just stand there and she'll get voted into
the next week because of her vulnerability is priceless and

(01:01:11):
it sets her apart from the rest of the competition.
Is she the best dancer out of the group, No,
But is she the most human? Yes? And that is
going to take her all the way to the end. Folks.
I'm just saying calling it now, not as a winner,
as I said, definitely, I would be shocked if she
doesn't make the final because of this moment right here. Anyway,
let's move on to wait, did I tell you what

(01:01:33):
the judges? No, but I'm pretty sure you guys know,
but the judges gave Alona and Alan seven six seven six.
Let's move on to Sasha and Jen dancing a pasit oble.
Sasha's famous last words, I'd love the way you're oozing now.
I okay, So now that I know that she's a
pianist and she or she was a competitive pianist, the

(01:01:55):
fact that I now know why she is so she's
she's perfectionist, you know, though there's no such thing, but
she is hard on herself and she basically has a
similar mentality I would say to an athlete, because if
you are a professional anything that is a skill, you
definitely have the determination, you have the discipline, and you

(01:02:18):
want to get everything right. And this is why I
believe Jen is also a dark horse in a way,
and their chemistry is getting stronger. Her I just would
love to see more of her vulnerability, though I know, like, okay,
coming from a mother who's Filipina and doesn't really show
a lot of vulnerability and never really did either when
I was growing up, or was I taught that as much.

(01:02:41):
I was taught to be strong and resilient, and that
included me not really showing emotion right and also on
top of it, just whatever, Anyway, this is not about me.
I want to see more of her personality. So when
she showed us a little bit with like her inner
rock star, basically, I just I want their page to
be longer. Basically, I would love for that to happen. Anyway,

(01:03:04):
that's not happening, But I hope to get to know
her more, and I hope she's able to show more
of a vulnerable side, because it seems to me that
Sasha and Jen's chemistry is all very cute and they've
developed a great friendship and a great foundation as far
as trust goes. But I would love to see her
get frustrated or angry or discouraged and then to come

(01:03:29):
out and do what like she did the other night
when she did her amazing Viennese waltz. I just need
to see a little struggle or more vulnerability, right, just
really just the struggle is real on this show, so
I need to see it from everybody. Let's check out
their positively. Oh my god, I got chills again. Oh
if you would have heard my reaction, I should actually

(01:03:49):
put this. It's so my reaction and my facial expressions
are quite entertaining, I think. Anyway, their knee walks, I
got chills again, this time from my arms all the
way down to my kneecaps. I have to say, it
was so amazing to see this woman kill. I mean,
these two are like made to dance with each other

(01:04:11):
because of just their build and what they look like,
right like in just their physique, but the way they
just they have a beautiful bond and you can see
that and I can tell like there is no love
affair happening. Unfortunately, it's just going to be purely a
friend for life, I think basis. But that's fine, and
this is a great relationship to have when you are,

(01:04:35):
you know, trusting in each other to continue on every
single week. In the beginning, I just felt like there
were moments of insecurity on her face, right like when
they were towards this walkway where the stages they were
coming down the floor, and like with the Pasa doblay.
Even though if you may feel insecure, her you know,

(01:04:57):
your mouth has to stay closed. You have to have
that lazy focus like laser focus, right, no matter what,
like you don't want to give it away. And that's
also a thing with Elona as well, like when she
messed up, they didn't even have a full body shot
on her for most of the time that she did
mess up, like and it's the same with Jen most
of the time it is like either a wide shot

(01:05:19):
where you don't see anything, you just see these two
people and from afar, or you just see a close
up of her face. So there are the finesse is
what's missing. She has to be her movement has to
be a little bit more refined. And again it's the transitions,
it's not the actual picture. And I also feel like

(01:05:40):
her energy needs to move down into the floor. I
mean she definitely did that for the knee walks, like
that whole like urgency that they had when they did
two slow knee walks and then they did it in
sync perfectly, like the way that they and the way
that because like in order to do these knee walks,
I have to say whenever I teach them, they're they're
not comfortable. But what you have to do in order

(01:06:01):
for you not to fall flat on your face actually
is to really open your chest up and make your
pelvis move as far forward as possible, like I always say,
like belly button to the ceiling. And that's the way
they should have danced their whole pasa doblay there. I mean,
they had tons of content in there. So I appreciate

(01:06:22):
Sasha's choreography for both dances, so good on him, good job.
I just think a little bit more refined movement and
working on the transitions more than the picture. But yeah,
Jen is really a hard worker, and it doesn't surprise me.
I'm sure she. I don't know, maybe she. I think
most likely she was raised in a strict household because

(01:06:44):
you're not a professional pianist and you're for no reason
right Like anyway, I appreciate the hard work. This was
not an easy routine by any means, and that those
that ending was so powerful, Holy hell, and they did
it exactly in sync. They were like synchronized positibly knee walkers.
I give Sasha and Jen an eight. Let's see what

(01:07:08):
the judges have to say. Good job guys. Okay, so
the judges, what was Gene Simmons didn't he get the
memo it's eight eight seven eight seven. What the hell like?
What is going on? It makes zero sense, especially again
after the critique doesn't match your critique. People, come on, Gene,
if you really have seen the show, come on. That's

(01:07:29):
the only disappointing so far. That's the only thing that
disappointed me the most was Gene's score for Jen and Sasha.
Nothing else. Really, I thought what he said it was
so innocent. He wasn't being I don't believe he was
being rude to anybody tonight. He was just being himself
and funny. I don't know. I thought he was actually
quite entertaining for being, you know, sitting there. I'm sure

(01:07:50):
is a lot of pressure, especially since you know he
has zero ballroom experience, though I'm sure the show has
been wanting him on. Probably best if Jeene Simmons sits
this show out, just say, just kidding. Anyway, I did
see a little emotion come out of Jen, I really did.
So she just needs to continue, and I love how

(01:08:13):
positive Sasha is with her. But you know, Sasha's said
she said it. She goes just keeps saying how amazing
it is. But you know, it's good to have that balance,
Like if your celebrity is really hard on themselves, then
of course you have to you don't need to be
hard on them as much, right, So it's like it's
probably best. Like, for example, I'm sure Alan isn't as
hard on Alona as maybe some of his previous partners

(01:08:36):
who weren't as hard on themselves, right, Like Alona is
hard on herself, you can tell for the both of them,
and same with Jen. So I'm happy to see Jen
happy and I'm so proud of these two. Keep up
the great choreography, Sasha, just work on those details. If
you want to be able to stay on top of
that leaderboard like top three or four, you're gonna have

(01:08:56):
to start working on the finer details that maybe everyone
else or not everyone else, but that most of the
competition isn't necessarily working at, right, So you've got to
stand out from the pack. That's my only advice. Anyway,
let's move on to the second to last couple. We've
got Valschmerkovski and Phaedra Parks. It's always so hard to

(01:09:18):
go towards the end when you still have eleven couples
left in the competition, So let's check out their pasa
dobla lots of pasos tonight. Okay, I just want to
mention this tour promo was actually pretty good and Sasha.
I noticed, Sasha is not doing the tour again. Listen,
I get it, Sasha. It's probably best for your mental

(01:09:40):
health not to do it. So whatever is the best.
You know, each individual person knows what's best, and sometimes
tour can be exhausting, as Kate Flannery said in my
interview with her. So if you haven't heard that, check
it out. Let's move on to phaedra Envel. Ok. So,

(01:10:00):
their package was short and sweet. They didn't really do
so much of a recap, which I again, they didn't
acknowledge the fact that it was a hard week for
her last week. I was kind of hoping that their
heart to heart would actually show a little bit more
of their emotion. I do have a like this. There's
a distance between me and this couple because I haven't

(01:10:23):
seen her vulnerability yet. I haven't really seen much of
her to be quite honest, as far as like who
she really is as a woman other than her one
sound bite that you know, I know, I can really
relate basically this is a summary of what she said
about how she relates to the song that they're dancing to.
I give love a bad name. I think that's what
it is. I don't know, don't quote me, but because

(01:10:44):
of her bad she went through a bad divorce. But
that was the end of that. Like, there was no
explanation or quick SoundBite as to why her divorce was bad.
So that was a little odd for me. But their
passa doblay, you know, it's a strong dance, and I
have to say, out of all the male pro dancers,
Val is definitely the best Pasa doblay dancer and he

(01:11:07):
really eats up the ballroom. So she's got a lot
to live up to. Hopefully she doesn't miss a step
and shows nothing but determination, power and strength, just exactly
who she is in real life. So let's check out
their passo. Now, Okay, it was okay. You can tell
Val is trying hard to like hold back a little bit,

(01:11:29):
but he's also trying hard not to hold back because
he doesn't want to sacrifice his dancing. But this is
where it's interesting because Val has been I would say
his record so far when it comes to being paired
with celebrities he's had pretty much for the most part.
Eight like celebrities that are that are actually capable of
dancing to the point where it Val doesn't have to

(01:11:50):
dumb it down. But this is the thing about the
show is that you kind of have to adapt to
your partner. I'm not saying not to perform right, there
are ways to do it, but you also don't want
to make your partner look bad at the same time,
and I'm not saying that he did that, but there
were moments where she was being pulled again off of
her feet. She looked off balance, and she looked like
like when she was running around Val when he was

(01:12:12):
on his knees. She just looked unstable her facial I mean,
I love the fact that she lip sync because I
think it's helping her breathe. She definitely feel she felt
more confident, Like from what I saw, she felt more
secure with this dance. Then let's say what she performed
last night during Soul Train Night, right, But there she
just looked scared. Sometimes I like hold back, like I'm

(01:12:36):
like a little nervous watching them because I wonder if
VAL's power is just overwhelming her to where she's completely
off balance. So I would like for Val to kind
of tone it down a little bit. Though I know
this is his dance and I get it, but some
seasons you're not going to be able to dance to
your full potential my friend, and I would love to
see a little more refinement and maybe tone down the

(01:13:01):
difficulty when it comes to giving her choreography that has
to do with like push and pull, Like you can
tell like, yes, she prefers to move slower, and if
she can't move to the pace that you know Val
is teaching, then maybe you shouldn't do it in a
syncopation and find more of a way to like shape
her body and have her dance through the music. Then

(01:13:24):
really dance on that on top of that beat, because
it's it's not necessarily she's not executing it the way
that I know Val wants her to execute it. So
if that's the case, throw it out and figure out
something else that looks better on your partner. So I
think it's a challenge for Val because he wants to
dance to his potential and he doesn't want to dumb
it down. But at the same time, this is dancing

(01:13:45):
with the stars, so we have to adapt to our partner.
That's all I have to say. I give Valenphedra a seven.
Let's hear what the judges have to say. What is
Gene Simmons smoking? The judges gave for real, like how
does he overscore? Like not overscore, but he was actually
quite I would say, like normally the guest judges right,

(01:14:07):
they always are generous, but Gene, what is he doing?
I know that they discussed this before the live show.
Who knows, maybe he changed his mind last minute. But again,
the judges gave Pedra and val seven seven five seven,
and that really sucks, like it's it's funny, fine, but
at the end of the day, it affects their placement

(01:14:27):
on the leaderboard, like by a lot if you're gonna
be two points under the main judges. OI. Anyway, I
hope they're out at this bottom too, or this double
elimination tonight, because if not, you can blame Gene Simmons. Jesus.
All right, let's uh, let's move on to the last
couple of the night. We've got Joey and Jenna doing

(01:14:49):
a tango, the first tango, which I'm shocked about because
a lot of these pasa double as could have been tango. Actually,
I would have loved to see Fedra and Val do
a tango instead of apasso to this last song that
they perform, But it is what it is. Let's check
out Joey and Jenna closing the show. Okay, I love
how this guy is like a magician. He pulls out
tricks from his pocket, like, oh I was a cheerleader,

(01:15:12):
Oh I was a drummer. Next he's gonna be like,
oh I was a Flamenco dancer for Pasado Blay. But yeah,
so this is gonna be interesting to see because he's
had more of I guess leeway with his other dances
with it not being so strict. But tango is one
of the two dances where you cannot break hold. This
is standard international tango. It's not American smooth. So it'd

(01:15:34):
be interesting to see if he commands the floor because
even if you are restricted in hold, you still need
to like Pasa do blay, you still need to own it.
The tango is the man's dance, whether you know it's
it doesn't matter if you're in hold or not. He
needs to be leading Jenna, and I can tell Jenna
is being really nitpicky with him that whenever, like they

(01:15:55):
even I can tell they do break hold a little bit,
but they don't break hold to the point where their
side by side she does like most likely a spin,
and then they'll go back into like holding each other's hands. Right,
but there is still a frame even if you're not
in hold, like you still need to be aware between
the space of you, of your rib cage and your elbow,

(01:16:17):
and there needs to be like a ninety degree angle.
So I'm excited to see their tango. Let's check it out.
Best dance of the freaking night? People? Why did we
have to wait till the end to see a solid performance?
Just saying, holy hell, that was really good. Now, I'm
going to be nitpicky because it wasn't perfect, but it

(01:16:37):
was the best dance of the night by far. However,
this wig stuff is just getting in the way, Like
if he didn't have the wig on, I wonder if
the wig in a way helped him from not having
to keep his first of all lips closed and keep
that intensity on his face. But also like I could
see that the way. I don't know if it was

(01:16:57):
because of the wig, but his chin needed to to
be a little bit more like up and he needed
to open his chest out a little bit more, but
his frame was solid. I mean, these two used the
floor like professionals. Honestly, they were gliding. They didn't look
hectic whatsoever. The only thing I can sense and see

(01:17:17):
is that there when they first got into hold and
they did the footwork and those like fast like hip
rotations and those points in the tap and all of
that that needed to be a little bit sharper. But wow,
what this guy is all around great, just honestly, he's
amazing at both styles like Jenna. And to have a

(01:17:39):
musical background like Jen is very helpful. Now I know
why this man is very musical because he has was
he playing live? I think he was anyway, he has
that actual background on top of being a coach as
a tennis coach, so he knows how to be a
great student. And they just have a great bond these two.
Again it's purely based off of friendship and trust. But

(01:18:02):
this man really wow, I was impressed. Good on you, Jenna.
Jenna really taught him a proper tango. I appreciate all
of that content that was in there. I didn't see
too many heel leads, but again, it wasn't perfect, but
it was the best dance of the night. I give
them a nine easily. Oh my god, this is gonna
be hard. The final is gonna be difficult to make.

(01:18:24):
But these two will definitely be in the final for sure. Eh.
If not, when I have to say, I don't think
necessarily Chandler is the best dancer. I think it's between
these two, to be quite honest. Anyway, let's hear what
the judges have to say before we wrap here. Okay,
so they got the highest score of the night, well deserved,

(01:18:45):
all nines. Finally, Gene Simmons woke up. He was falling
asleep behind those sunglasses. Let's see which two couples are
the ones being eliminated. This is nerve wracking even for me.
All right, let's check it out now. That is a
proper elimination speech, quick soundbites. I love that they gave

(01:19:06):
enough time for both people to respond and just quickly
say what they felt and their experience with each other.
Normally it's just the celebrities. So good on the executives, honestly,
like it's it takes two to tango, no pun intended,
and it's great to hear from the pros and they're
both so sweet. But you know, honestly, first of all,

(01:19:29):
to see Alona there just crying again is so sad.
You know, in a way they do it that doesn't
mean that they were in the bottom, Like they say
that very clear that this is not necessarily the bottom
three or whatever, but they do that like in a
way so that she gets more votes. I don't know,
maybe maybe not. This is what this is a pure
conspiracy theory on my behalf, but I believe that when

(01:19:51):
the exec because there's someone in the booth doing this right,
they're calling out who to call safe and who not
to call safe, and so they left Alona and Allen
until the end. But psychologically, for people that are not
listening to every single word that the hosts are saying,
you would think that, oh, she needs to get more votes.
So they did this a lot to Cody and I
like we were the bottom, right, but we weren't necessarily

(01:20:13):
in the bottom. And that was back in the day
when the judges chose which couple to save, and if
we would have been in the bottom, as you'll hear
in my interview with Cody in a couple weeks we
would have been the ones going home, but we were
never in the bottom in that sense to where the
judges had to pick. But it's different now that rules
have changed. It's back to the way it was and
it is fifty percent of your vote, so those of

(01:20:34):
you that want Alona to stay, just vote. Everyone needs
to vote. Seriously. Thank you guys so much. This has
been a lot more for me, but I'm glad that
you guys are enjoying it. And once again, don't forget
to rate and review wherever you're listening to this podcast.
It would mean the world to me. Until next time,
we will be again doing headlines as we do every

(01:20:57):
single week this Friday. Until then, let me know your
thoughts and sending you all so much luve Bye bye
