Speaker 1 (00:01):
Picture Miami. Picture its beaches. Picture the palm trees swaying
in the wind. Picture three radio journalists assassinated in cold blood.
They left the body there for reasons. It was the
calling card.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
It's like the MURPHIAESSI does anyone as at ampound. Most
people come to Miami after the sun and the sand
I was in Miami as a reporter and I looked
past the palm trees. I first covered these murders almost.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Thirty years ago, but they were never solved, and they
left an open wound.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
The radio journalists had moved to Miami from Haiti. They
were using them. You found freedom and the radio airwaves
to ignite a revolution at home, and that's when the
killing started.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
You're picking off these people one by one at moments
of maximum there's a warning to them. It's definitely psychological warfare.

Speaker 1 (01:04):

as Little Haiti, and yet the mastermind has never been caught.
To find him, we had to go deep into a
world of drugs and darkness talking to agents from the
FBI and DEA.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
It's very difficult to determine how much cocaine is coming
in It's like asking people how much how many people
had sex last night in Miami. Good luck trying to
find that out.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
And then there were these hints of a much bigger conspiracy.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
This YEI, they clearly gave a green light because those
guys were on the fair world. This was very real.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
If there is one thing I've learned in all my
time as a re quarter is this, you cannot kill
the truth with the bullet.

Speaker 1 (01:55):

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
