It was a team that nobody saw coming, and now
two decades later, we're looking back at the stunning turnaround
of the New Jersey Nets in our new podcast Something

summer of two thousand and one, the Nets had one
playoff series win to show for in their first twenty

just once in the last seven years, and we're coming
off a twenty six win season. After twenty seasons at
the Meadowlands, even their own fans were tuning out. One
blockbuster trade changed everything for the franchise. When GM Rod
Thorn acquired point guard Jason Kidd, he transformed his team

with an elite floor general. With Kid, Perry Kittles, Kenyan Martin,
and Richard Jefferson's, the Nets were a fast breaking dynamo
with the league's best defense. They doubled their win total
in one season and then stunned the league with a
run to the finals. Then they did it again in
