Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, Hello, Hello, and welcome back to Squirreld Friends, the
official group Paul's Drag Race Podcast. I'm Alec Mapa here
to introduce the Queen of Show Business America's sister Lonnie
Love and clans in this. Thank you, Alek. How are you?
I'm good? You're scared of it death, I'm I'm shaking
in my boots. We're gonna cover episode eight today, but
first we have to address what was on your Instagram,

(00:26):
which you were in a hospital bed and I was like,
what happened? Was there an accident? Was there? You know?
And I'm just wildly you know, reading is fundamental people.
I had a little surgery. I had my gob bladder removed.
Yes it is an organ, but I had it removed.
And just what everybody knows, you really don't need your
gob bladder and got to keep it? Are you keeping

(00:47):
it in the jar? I had them take a picture
of and then I said, please dispose of it. Um. Anyway,
this is the thing. The whole purpose of that instagram
was to tell people that your health is your wealth
and to pay attention to your numbers, to you go
to the doctor, especially after we've been through this pandemic.
A lot of people haven't had their physicals, so that
was the purpose of it, and it was also to

(01:08):
tell everybody at once that I was okay and I
am fine, squirrel friends, but thank you for all your love.
I got a lot of love. You dinally get a
lot of love, and you deserve it. Because I, of
course I didn't read a thing or even listen to
the entire thing he was texting me. I was all
I saw was that you were in the hospital band
and I was like, oh, no, love, what happened to

(01:32):
the don't have to have Michelle passage, I know, but listen,
I'm sure that you were in the hospital and you
were taking care of by allainos in the hospital. I love.
They like, oh, we we watched stories. You watched because
I went in like it would on a Saturday, so
we watched the movies. We watched. It was just a

(01:54):
great time. It was actually a little vacation for me.
But listen, if you're in the hospital, you want Filipinos
to take care of you when you're sick, or if
you're an old person, because that's what we do. We
kind of like grow up with old people in the
house or a sick person or you know, we're all
doctors and nurses, so you were gonna love it. But
the nice thing was to be able to look at

(02:14):
this episode episode eight, RuPaul, and we got to talk
to it. Now. You know this is now is getting interesting,
so tell us what to expect. These are the spoilers.
These are the spoilers. All right, for episode eight, we're
gonna be covering the lip sync Lolla Perusa SmackDown's. Usually

(02:36):
that's for the end of the series, but this time
they're they're switching it up, Lonnie. They're switching it up. Yeah,
they're doing it in season fifteen. They have to do
something different, Alex, and that is what we're going to cover. Also,
remember all of this is for the crowning of America's
next drag Race superstar. One year supply of Anastasia Beverly
Hills and a cash prize of two hundred thousand dollars

(03:00):
powered by cash apt And later we'll have my conversation
with or a my Ari, So stay tuned for that. Alrights, girlfriends,
it's time for fifteen seconds to say. This is where
Alec and I have fifteen seconds to raise and say
all of our most important thoughts and takes on a
topic given to us by our producers. Since this is
the fifteen season, they wanted to do something fun. I

(03:20):
love this all right, and it means fifteen seconds. So
here we go, Alec, what I'm gonna time you? Okay,
this is what we're gonna have fifteen seconds on? All right?
Since this episode was all about lip syncs, we have
to describe our perfect lipsy performance. Oh what song, what outfit?
What coriole? What would we do if we were live

(03:44):
sinking for our lives? Alec, ready set say, I would
do um. I would lip sync to Shannon's Let the
music play from the eighties, and I would do all
eighties moves. I would I would be popping, I'd be locking,
I'd be tutting. I would break dance and that would
be my thing. A second, okay, I remember that I

(04:05):
was holding up my fingers. Okay, what would you do? Okay? Seconds?
Ready set? Say? I did a lip sync with my
best friend in college. It was a run DMC. Uh.
It's like that, that's the way it is, and it
was the great lip sync we wanted the Talent show.
We were dressed like run DMC. We knew the actual words,

(04:26):
and I had a great run DMC. It's like that
the best way that would be a good one. Yeah,
it was really fun. It's really good. So you know
fifteen I mean the lip sync is just great. It
has to be a song that you're excited by. It
has to be a song that you know. The only
run DMC song that I know by heart is uh

(04:48):
it's Chicken d Rucker run Rucker time. It is tricker
you that's good. Remember that that was my favorite. That
was my favorite run DMC song. Squirrel friends, if you
want to to say something about anything for fifteen seconds,
you know you can tell if we could do this
d M s or messages your ideas at Alec Mapa
on Instagram or at comic Lonnie Love on Instagram and

(05:11):
Lonnie Love on Twitter. Okay, let's get into the episode. Okay,
we said goodbye to Aura Myri last week, the beautiful
Filipino trade of the season went home. Lucy is mad,
she is safe, felt like she carried the scenes she
was in. Now this happens every year, Like there was
even a thing about remember Milk the drag queen who

(05:32):
got really upset when they were safe and somebody said,
that's a lot of emotion for safe. For me, I
feel like I'm safe. Count my blessings. I wouldn't say anything. Well,
the thing is the way that she said it. It
kind of got to a couple of the queens, and
we know, we say a couple. We got to Mistress
because she was like, you know, what are you talking about?

(05:54):
You know, I mean, I get it you want to
express your emotions, but I'm like you, hey, if you're safe,
you're safe. This is still competition. You still have a
lot of queens that you gotta kind of like beat.
So I thought that that was interesting. Spice is done
being safe, only wants to be in the top from
now on. And then she keeps trotting. Yeah, and they

(06:15):
told her, don't do that, don't do that, don't do that.
If you don't sit out, Spices, that damn trotting. I
mean it's adorable on TikTok, stop trotting. Oh. I've listened
to our Sugar interview the other day and I fell
in love with him all over again. You know, just
a sweet, sweet, sweet sweet young man. You know, it

(06:36):
makes you want to pull for Spice, and it's nice
to see that now, Spice is you can see that
they're individuals. So I think that that was great. Also
during this episode, Jack's is upset because this was the
second time that she was in the bottom and so,
you know, and she's been killing it in the bottom.
I mean I said that the last time. So and

(06:57):
with all of that said, you know, this is the
feelings that's going on. This is what happens when you're
in a competition. People start really you know, coming up
with their feelings. They start seeing how they're placing, they
see if they're being noticed. You know, all kinds of
things are running in their heads right now. And with that,
here comes Rue Paul. Rude Paul comes in. She's wearing

(07:18):
a lot of sweaters these days. She's kind of doing
her own Ruepaul version of Mr. Rogers. Came out in
a cardigan with a yellow border and leopard sleeves and
that's kind of like counterpads, yeah, and black pants. And
I had shoulder pads a sweater. I did that in
the eighties. I put shoulder pads in all my Benetton

(07:40):
sweaters and came out and described what the Maxi Challenge
was going to be. And this is like, ah, there's
no guest judge this week. It's just family. Michelle and
Ross are the judges and there's no runway. There's gonna
be eight lip syncs. It's gonna be a lalaparusa lip

(08:00):
sync SmackDown. So Rue says that we're halfway through the season,
he still hasn't seen some of them lip sync for
their lives, but that is all about to change. For
this week's Maxi Challenge, they have to put their charisma, uniqueness, nerve,
and talent to the ultimate test and a good old
fashioned lip sync la la parusa. They need to get

(08:20):
in lip sync Assassin drag and head to the main
stage and one of them will be going home. You know,
it's interesting you do go through some seasons and never
see some queen's lip sync until the very very end. Yeah, yeah,
that's true, but the way they do this is very interesting.
So with that saying, I want to toss to a

(08:40):
break and come back because I got a lot of
thoughts on this. We'll be right back. We'll be right back,
and we're back for the main stage Maxi Challenge. RuPaul
comes out and and then Credible Zaldi dress once more.

(09:02):
She has her platinum up to which is really beautiful
and it frames her face beautifully. It's almost kind of
like Ursula the Sea Witch, but it's RuPaul, so she
looks studding. She has a black dress that almost looks
pleather or leather. It's one shoulder, one shoulder strap and
it's a full length and it's all rooste to the side.

(09:23):
Do you know everything means gathered in pleats going to
the side, all the way up and down her body.
It all gathers at the waist and it's again it's
classic classic. I mean, at least we got one runway. Look, okay,
there's no special guest judge this week is just family
Michelle and Rod. There the queens will face off in

(09:45):
a series of eight eight lip syncs and if a
queen wins eight. If a queen wins their lip sync,
they are safe from elimination. If a queen loses, they
will continue to face off until two queens remain in
the end. One of them was Sachet Away first. Bruno
from the pit crew has all the balls like with

(10:07):
their names on them and a golden hopper. He picks
one of the balls with a name on it. That
person gets to pick their opponent and the opponent gets
to pick the song. I thought that was a great twist.
That was very interesting because there's a way to be
strategic about this. So I was kind of confused at
the beginning. All Right, So Malaysia was the first ball

(10:27):
picked and she picked Marcia Marsha Marsha, which surprised me.
I thought I would pick Spice right away. But I
think Malaysia and Isabelle and Spice have kind of alliance going.
That's my feeling. But there's been talking about like I'm
your drag mother now and everything, so I think that
they might be protective of Spice is what I'm thinking. Yeah,

(10:48):
But I mean the thing is with Malaysia, she needs
to realize that. I mean, you got you pick Marsha
Marsha Marsha. You've never seen her live scence because Marsha
Marsha Marsha has never lived scene, but you've seen her
perform and and you've seen her dance, and it's like,
out of all people, I wouldn't have picked what either
what I would not have picked her, and you know

(11:09):
I would have picked I'm sorry, this is a competition.
Pick who you really think that you can be thank you,
thank you, you know, and everybody was saying, you know, oh,
you'd be picking on Spice if you picked her. It's
like no Spices in the competition, which means she's a
competitor just like everybody else, has to be treated like
everybody else. But no, Malaysia picked Marsha. Marsha Marsha. Marcia

(11:30):
picked the song boys Don't Cry by Anita in Marsha one, Well,
I agreed with it? Did you agree? I did agree
with it? And then I was kind of mad at Malaysia.
I got emotional watching. I was very do that for
So what happens when Marsha Marsha, Marsha gets set back
to the workroom and Malaysia is still up for elimination exactly,
And so now we're gonna go through this again and

(11:52):
again and again. So the next person was Lucy La
Duke and she got picked and she picked Spice right
right now. That was a smart choice. And they did
do you Want to Touch Me by Joan Jet And
we've been talking a lot about experience versus TikTok, and
I talked to Sugar and I loved Sugar and everything.

(12:13):
But this is the thing of like, Lucy's experience showed
that she generally she knew how to build the song.
She knew how a good story of the song. Spice
looked amazing, was in the kind of a fiery wig
and these flame pants, these bell bottom pants with these
platform shoes, and Lucy was dressed to slay and in
her outfit and she looked fantastic. But she knew what

(12:36):
to do, and she did the Joanes exactly what to do.
And it was funny because as Mama Ru was talking
about the song, she turned into Reverend Roue. To me,
it was funny when she that that voice play is
just great with Rue Paul. But yeah, that was the thing. Then,
so Lucy ends up winning. The thing is I always

(12:57):
think about the what if if Malaysia would have picked Spike,
what would have happened. I mean, it's like, come on,
this is a competition. So now Lucy is safe. Spices
up for elimination, up for elimination. So then we go
to the next lip scenc which is Lux Noir, and
she picked Selena has Titties, and Selena picked It's all

(13:17):
coming back to Me Now by Selene Dion, and she
says that this is a song that she does in
the clubs all the time. Now, this is the thing
that I want to remind squirrel friends. As I was watching,
lux thought that she could beat Selena. But the problem
is that's the issue is that you didn't know what
song Selena would pick. And so when Selena she knew

(13:40):
she was gonna get picked, she says, I've been performing
this song. Try picking a song that I performed. That's
how you think as a competitor. You're like, okay, you're
picking me. Luck thought that she could beat Selena, and
Selena found a song that she knew that she always perfes.
That's where experience comes in because she's like, no, I'm
picking that. And when I say, Selina's killed it, killed

(14:04):
it killed it, yeah, killed, there was nothing left. Yeah.
The outfit, well, lux Luxe to our London always is
high fashion. She had almost like hip boots which were
super super tight that were white, and then she had
a matching kind of bikini top kind of like ready
to slay, ready to lip sync. This was a right

(14:25):
outfit to wear. It was kind of like a bandage
bikini top. And then Selena as Titties was in a
sapphire blue short mini dress that was sinched at the
waist with a silver belt and black patent leather stiletto boots.
And she killed it because she was so funny and
she had the right about a stupid which Rule likes
so and she knew all the words and she knew

(14:47):
all the world she performs this. Lux took it too seriously.
She left out the camp and then after the performance,
you could tell Lux was so picked. You could tell
she was so mad. To look on her face. Go
back and look at the look on her face. She
was mad. She was, I mean so mad, and it's like, girl,

(15:10):
you you gotta look Selena's she just did it, you know,
as titties did it. Yeah. I admire lux Is self confidence,
but she it kind of borders on you know, she's
not taking into account the experience of the other queens.
And that's the thing you gotta when you're trying to pick,
you need to be strategic. And I know that you

(15:31):
probably is just on the spot, but on the spot,
you should already have been processing these girls, the other queens.
You do that. You do that every day. Every day.
You think about who's winning competitions. You're seeing like the favorite.
Even though you know all this stuff is edited, still,
if you're in a competition, you gotta think who does

(15:52):
what best? Who does competitions like this happened. And also
what was interesting is that the person that wins goes
to the back. They're watching, watching, and so now we're
getting their thoughts and opinions about because they don't see
who wins. The winner just comes to the back and
you see different reacts right right right, which is interesting. Yeah,

(16:13):
because Marsha, Marsha Marcia was I don't know what she
was watching. She was watching Lucy Leduca versus Spice and
she was like going, oh, well, Spice is gonna win
this one, and I was like, who are you watching?
So anyway, next we have Mistress. She gets picked Mtress
Books and she picks Jack's Jack's, so she goes up

(16:34):
against Jack's, who's a twirler right who does all I mean,
knocked it out of the park during the talent competition,
which she just rope with her brains. So Jack's comes
out in kind of a red braw top that's red
and yellow line, so it's like catchup and mustard and
cargo pants and black boots, Mistress comes out and kind
of a princess bubble um. Look, she's like all pink

(16:58):
with lighter pink glitter belt in the middle and a
pink glitter collar, white little boots with that biscuit heel.
But they do Tell to My Heart by our friend
Taylor Dane, who we have worked with previously. Still a
great song. What Mistress did in the middle of what
she had to reveal, I was like, there's gonna be
a reveal and she took off that whole pink dress

(17:21):
and she had kind of like a circus glittery new
delusion Lee It's hard dress underneath. That was spectacular. She
did that split where she goes forward on the split
like Supergirl, and and she did at the same time
that Jack's did her split. Yeah, so that kind of
took away from Jack's I believe it did, dilude Jacks's

(17:43):
a split. So Jacks is a cheerleader and a gymnast,
knows how to do all these tricks. But Mistress was
so in the song and has again a wealth of
experience performing. And when I say performing, Mistress performs at
a club in Houston where everybody's talking, everybody's drinking, everybody
is kind of carousing, So that's lion taming. You have

(18:05):
to really do something to catch their attention to do
she did it again, that is experienced, and I'm like, oh,
because I was scared. I was like, and this is
the thing. The girls in the bag who were saved,
they're going, you know, and now you're getting feelings. Feelings
are being felt because they're like, oh, yeah, we know
Jack's one. We know Jack's one, right, Jack's lost mistressacks one.

(18:29):
So when distress comes, you know, because they don't know
mistress comes, and you would usually go, yeah, whatever, And
they were like what they were like surprised, And okay,
I will say I wasn't surprised. I wasn't surprised that
they were doing that. No, I wasn't surprised that mistress
is one. They were acting all surprise. Yeah, they were
acting surprised, but they were actually this is the one

(18:52):
time that I was disappointed in the queen's I would
say in their reaction, because it's like, y'all all been
through the same anything, and then this girl deal what
she needed to do. The least you could say is congratulations. First,
I know, I know they were kind of sour about it.
We're kind of a little sour about it. And I
know what that feels like when you're like you doing

(19:12):
your best and you're you mistress is mistress. She's outspoken, Okay,
i'n beehind and she's carrying the show right now like
it comes to drama when it comes to you know,
telling it like it is, you know what I mean.
And I'm I'm saying that the other queens aren't doing
their part. But you know, come on, let's look at
the camera time, let's look at the fact of who
they're putting up. And it's like for her to come

(19:34):
in and they're like, you know, it's like wait what
And so then she started to take it right. She
wasn't gonna take it. You're making her read you now
when all you had to do was just sit there
and eat your food. That's right, take your cocktail, said
you said, your House of Love cocktail and shut up.
It's all right. Well okay. This leads to the big

(19:57):
show down because the two queens that were weren't picked
by anybody because I wouldn't have picked them were a
Nietra and Sasha Colby. So Antra and Sasha now have
to lip sync together because by default they're the two
left standing. So Bruno picks the ball, it says Antra
on it. Antra gets to pick the song, and she

(20:19):
picks I'm in Love with the Monster by Fifth Harmony.
And this was the best lip sync of the season.
I thought it was gonna be a tie. I really
thought it was gonna be a tie. A Nature comes
out and this red fire engine red wig, this ale
it's hardwood straps and these red patent leather boots. Oh gosh.
Sasha Colby comes out with that that topknot ponytail that

(20:40):
is down to her, but with the black patent leather
boots and this body suit that's a new delusion. She
has this glitter stripe that covers her boobies and her
crotch area and uh kind of a rhine stone choker
on top. And they both set the stage on fire,
I mean set it on and Sasha with those hand

(21:01):
flips and that place, and she knew that's why she
wore that pony tail, that's why she wore that forty
because she's like, no, I'm gonna give it to you.
I'm gonna get hair, I mean all the way and
Sasha Kobe wins. So now Antra is up for elimination,
and we'm surprised. I'm surprised. I thought it was so close,

(21:22):
but like it was close. Yeah, if we're splitting hairs here,
if we're splitting hairs, Sasha is so beautiful and inhabits
her body and is so versed in the world of
drag and lip sync that you can't take your eyes
off of her, and is a stunt queen. She is great.

(21:44):
I would not go up against her. That would be
like I'm gonna fight Mike Tyson. No, I'm not gonna
do it. But it was. If we're splitting hairs, Sasha
was that much better in focus. Well, we'll get into
the next round. La la perusa. After the short break,
squirrel friends don't go where because we got so much
Tita Spiel. Alright, we're back and the eliminated queens now

(22:12):
have to pick each other off. Right, So Antra is
up for elimination. The next one picked is Malaysia, and
this time she goes against Spice. Okay, which makes sense,
I know, but Spice picks the song Don't Go Yet
by Camilica BeO, So she picks a song. But why
does she pick the song Lonnie? Because she says she
knows that Malaysia doesn't know the words, and I was like, wow,

(22:35):
that is genius. How does she know that she doesn't
know the words? How did she know that? She's assuming? Okay, alright,
you know she's making an assumption. And what is hilarious
about Spice is that she gets up there, she's doing
a lipstick and then she says, I don't know the
words either. Okay. So I was thinking about strategies here,

(23:00):
so it was clear at some point that Malaysia did
not know the words. So she starts spinning around. She
just starts moving around. Whenever there are a lot of words,
she just like covers it up with a lot of movement.
And that's what I would do. I would like, you know,
it's it's the ultimate thing of look over there, like
I would really try to. You know. What Valentina did

(23:21):
was she just kept that ky over her face until
ruthaid take it off. That damn spies. Gave me a
laugh out loud moment when she's doing all of that,
because I was like, oh man, this is this, my baby,
gut it this time? And then it times She's like,
I don't know the words either. I'm like, oh, really,
it could have been a big upset. It could have
been a big upset. But what I mean we're talking

(23:42):
about eight different songs. Oh my goodness, that's a lot.
That's a lot. I mean, it's like, no, that's a
lot of songs. So Malaysia wins, Yeah, goes to the
badge and you know, the girls celebrate her, and you know,
it was a nice moment for herself, all right, Mark
to ask her, well, why did you pick me? And
you know, Malaysia was like, you know, I don't know.

(24:04):
I just my hand was spinning and you were just
next to me. A couple of I think that she
has a funnest for spice, and she picked Marcia because
she thought she could beat her. But you know, I'm
ruthless in the competition. I'm competitive, So I would have
picked a wounded bird to lipstick against. I would have

(24:24):
picked somebody who had just been wheeled in from a
car accident, somebody who has t boned at an intersection,
somebody who has lost the ability to walk, and I'd
be like, I'm picking against that one. I just had
no bladder removal surgery against love. I'm going up against
the one in the burn unit. No, it's like I

(24:45):
didn't buy it. I was like, didn't buy it either.
They were looking at it like uh, nobody bought it,
or like okay, all right, you know, like um, next,
we had a Nietra versus Jack versus Look. Since they
were three left, put all three of them and they
did the right stuff by Vanessa Williams. I haven't heard
this song and so long. That is such a great song, right,

(25:08):
It's a really great that's really fun, and out of
the three, I was surprised. I was surprised. I'm tima
Nietra just because I think she's such a great performer,
she has the most experience, but the one who won
was Lux and I was a little surprised. I was surprised,
but I was also thinking that the producers. I'm not

(25:31):
saying she didn't legitimately win, but I think it may
have been a choice to kind of make it kind
of a cliffhanger to have a knet at the very end,
because with three, you know you can that's why you
have three, so you you still gotten one left. And
it's a competition, and when it's a competition. It's a competition.
They kind of know your ups, your dad as, they
kind of know what they can think. So there's a

(25:52):
little bit of com which this is when I would
have liked to at least hear something from the judges.
But Lux one, Yeah, because we're also not seeing what
the judges are seeing in the live performance. You know,
having judged before and having been in front of the
Queen's before, it's a different experience being in the studio
and watching the lip sync. It's I think they saw

(26:14):
something we didn't see. We're saying that because I know
I have seen the runways and the lip syncs live
as a as a judge, and you see something totally different,
and that's what makes you go, wait a minute, and
then you're able to give your opinion and feed your
opinion too, Rue Paul to the producers and you know.
So it's it's a total different experience than what you

(26:37):
asked you. You judged one of my favorite lip syncs,
one of the lip SNCs I watched over and over
again with you, watching Denali versus Denali versus kimoraw Hall
and to Pure Love by Crystal Waters, and you are
having the best time ever. You can hear you off
camera going whoooa, like you're having you have the best

(27:00):
time when I tell you that lip sync that girl
to this day every time. Once a year I retweeted
to Denali and tell her killed it? You still you
still killed it? And I'm bopping. I'm like, I want
you know. The costume that she had on her she
and Camara was good, but Camara had her dress was

(27:21):
so tight that she could not so tight. It was
something and she was beautiful, but it was like Donaledge
just took that stage and it was just something I
will always remember. Now, before the last round, we find
out that there is a twist. What is the twist?
So the twist is there's three people left. It's a Nitra,
Jack's and Spice. So they're gonna pull a ball and

(27:43):
the person who pulls the ball gets to choose which
one of the queens is safe. And Lonnie and I
both have opinions about this. It's like, wait a minute,
I get to save somebody, but I still have to
lip sync. Why am I not safe? I thought that
was a little like I don't know I was. I
would have been like what so Anietra has to pick

(28:05):
one person to save, and I'd be like, what what
I'd like to say it? Why can't I say myself?
Because Paul says you can't pick yourself that, Oh so
who would you pick? What would you even pick? Well,
if I can't pick myself, I would I would beg row.

(28:25):
I would say please, row, please, But she says no,
oh my gosh, Well you know who I would have picked.
I would have picked spice, but she ends up picking Jack's. Yeah,
because I mean, my thing is, why take the chance.
This is a competition. Jack's has done too, so she
already knows. But then maybe maybe again, maybe you know
that Jack's can get tired. And if you got that

(28:47):
confidence that you know, you know how to perform, like
I know she's tired, She's not gonna do autom damn flips.
I know, I know, go around taking everybody's blood pleasure
right before the thing. Yeah, and I think she likes spice.
It's like you said, I think there may be some

(29:07):
type of you know, alliance or something, and she likes spice.
She knows she can beat her. She don't want to
look like, okay, you know why, so she's being nice. Yeah,
that's not RuPaul's nice race. So Spice was touched by
an angel in this episode because a Nietra picks Spice,
and in the confessional, a Natra says, I picked Jack's

(29:29):
because Spice wouldn't have been a fair fight. But you're
the competition, so everything's a fair fight. Do you know
what I mean? Do you think that the opinion of
a Nietra would have been lessened or diminished if she
had picked Spice. Would people have watched that and go, oh,
you shady bitch? Well, I think that a Nietra, in

(29:50):
my opinion, she knew that she could beat both of them. Okay,
when you have that confidence, you're like, you know what,
I can beat both of them. I know that eventually
Spice is gonna lose, so let me take out somebody
that could be my competition that might be able to win. Okay.
So I think that's why Antra. Antra is strategically thinking,

(30:12):
let me try to take out this person first, because
Spice is eventually gonna lose, and that's it. So I
mean I think that was it. And like you said,
there could have been some alliances there that we don't
get to see. That's happening. But if it was me,
like you said, I would take your salt and pepper,

(30:35):
ginger all spice. But just let me, let me get
this over with. I mean, you just want to take
you back to the spice market. We're gonna toss to
a break because I want to talk about this live
scene when we get back. Okay, we've gotta take a
break and we're back. So Anitra picked Jackson for the

(31:00):
sync they do. Finally, by let's let's talk about the
fact that Spice goes to the back. Yes, and the
girls are like, they're like, what get rid of her?
Get rid of I know? And this is like, this
is the opportunity. This is the opportunity. And I also

(31:22):
think that Spice as a competitor to I think that
Spice has like wants to go further in this thing. Well,
she's doing the charm offensive. That's what she's doing. Because
if you notice when she went to the bat, Malaysia
hugged her so hard and was like I'm so happy,
and I was like, what is happening. That's what I
was talking about, Lonning. There's an alliance. There's an alliance

(31:44):
backstage with Malaysia and Isabelle, so whatever. So Antra picks
Jack's and because they pick Jacks and they're doing finally
by C. C. Peniston, we get a show. We get
a great show. They duck walk, they twirl, they both
do the splits. Nitre does that death drop back on
one leg. I don't know how she does it. She

(32:06):
does a slow death drop in five hides stiletto boots. Unbelievable.
But this is the thing, though, I will say, Jack's
had to perform what was this her third time? And
if you notice, in my opinion, she didn't have the
energy to do the flips that she usually does. You're

(32:27):
saying that she had fatigue and set in or nerves
or whatever. She had fatigue. It could have been just
the fact that now she's been on the bottom three
times and now she's on the bottom, you know twice
before she's been on the bottom. Then she had to
do three dances because if you notice she didn't do
any flips, she didn't. She just did the one like

(32:51):
split or back drop and didn't jump rope with her hair.
She didn't do her back. Meanwhile, a Nietra, who had
also done three brought the fire and she's an amazing performer.
I mean this, I could have watched her all night,
and she had the stamina, she had the moves. So
when Nietsra wins, she greets the girls backstage, that means

(33:14):
Jack's is going home. And the girls backstage were like
they had admiration for her for picking Jack's. That was
a feeling that I got. They were like, Okay, you
played a fair game, But I think she would have
played a fair game when she had picked Spice quite honestly. Yeah,
I mean it's like you there are no heroes in this.
I mean, if anything, Actually, the girls don't understand that

(33:35):
Jack's was losing anyway. Jacks was always on the bottom anyway,
So I guess she was gonna go. Spice is gonna go.
I predict that we'll see Spice Lee real soon. Okay,
that's that's my know what it is. Yeah, all right,
Jack's was like Jack's really killed it in the talent
competition when she did that amazing number and really kind

(33:55):
of like killed it, and there was so much promise.
I didn't see that energy carried over or into the
challenges and the rest of the competition. I don't know
what happened that happens. I mean, it just happens sometimes.
I think in this competition it shows that one you
have to be a overall great performer, great, whatever the challenges,

(34:16):
you got to have some type of it's not just
one thing that's gonna make you the winner. And so
initially we probably thought, like the flips and everything, the
way she could do it. That takes energy. And like
I said, by the time she got to this third one,
she was just tired. Yeah, you know. And and so
it's like, okay, what do you do to make yourself

(34:37):
stand out? And Antra just knows that that that comes
from again experience of being able. You gotta do two
shows a day and then you gotta do a total
of eight shows in a week or you know whatever. Experience.
You know how to reserve your energy, you know what
you need to do, you know what big number to

(34:57):
do to get their attention. You know when it can
bit up. There was no camp in Jackson's last It's
like making fun Making funny showed him different and it
was just you know, and it didn't help that. You know,
it could have been spice and we would have a
whole different story. But the funny she does bring the camp.
She brings the camp in the way like Simonious too,

(35:20):
like Simone did that lip sync to Pleasure Principle by
James Jackson. How do you make that funny? She made
that funny. But it's like you know, Bianca jil Rio
said in previous seasons, find out what your strengths are
and apply that in the challenge. Do you know what
I mean? Maybe you're not a twirler. Maybe if you're
a comedy queen, then make us laugh. That's what bend
La Krem did. You know in her All Star season,

(35:41):
she just made everybody laugh. Okay, squirrel friends, after this
quick break, the self proclaimed trade of the season or
a Maori will be here. We'll be right back, and
we're back. Our guest today may not have known every
single drag race reference there is, but we are full

(36:03):
of excitement and good energy because the Moon God as
herself is here. Please welcome or a Myri Hello, Hello everybody?
How are you? I am? I am excellent. Alec is
off booked and busy. He's filming his Disney Plus shell
so he couldn't be here. He has been talking about you,
and we've been raving about you. How have you been.

(36:25):
I mean, it's been a roller coaster ride for sure.
From the very beginning. You know, I didn't prepare myself
with the things that that comes with it online and
stuff like that. So I thought I was mentally prepared
for this whole thing, and then the show happened and
then everything just went wild online. But definitely getting used
to it. I'm loving traveling, I mean, because you know,

(36:47):
like a big part of drag is performing in front
of people and like being on stage. But um, yeah,
it's it's been an amazing, amazing Right, we'll talk about
your experience on Drag Race, because you know a lot
of people do understand what it takes to get on
it to do it. Tell us a little bit about that.
I'll tell you a little bit from the very beginning then. First,

(37:07):
so I had moved to Nashville and decided to quit
drag from Chicago. Yeah, it was like I lost I
lost my dad and then I went through a lot
of mental health stuff. I went through depression, I lost
a lot of relationships, like even my fiancee now we
even split up then, Um, and so there was a
lot of stuff going on. And anyway, so I moved

(37:29):
to Nashville with him. We got back together. We moved
here just for our new start, and I wanted to
focus on my career, my nine or five job. I
was working in a marketing firm, but I mean drag
always followed me everywhere. Yeah, lay Dans Bar here in
Nashville found out that I had moved, and they contacted
me and asked me if I wanted to do a
show from one night and I said, well, I'm not

(37:51):
really doing drag anymore, but they said, you know what,
like let's just do it, just come and perform for
us whatever. And after my first number, they immediately asked like,
are you interested it and being part of our roster,
are part of our cast? And I said, well, I
I really not what and they said, yeah, you're amazing this, this,
this and that, and I said no, really just trying

(38:13):
to like slow down, not not do this, focus on
my job, my day job. And they're like, well, are
you just doing drag just as a hobby, and that
hit me. I'm like, oh, just no, girl, no as
a hobby. And then it took me like about three
months to say yes to this job. Me and my
boyfriend kept talking back and forth. And just kind of

(38:34):
like because I've been so depressed about just life and
also my day job, and it wasn't very fulfilling for me.
Like I felt like I wasn't meant to be in
front of a computer and you know, stuck in an
office and stuff like that. And I've always loved performing
ever since I was a kid, and so I decided
to go for doing dry full time. And then months

(38:55):
later the drag race announcement happened and I auditioned for
the very first time, and I was like, no, I
won't make it. This is my first time auditioning ever.
That Bally got a call, I was like, welcome now.
I quit my full time job on a full time
drag queen, real job, right, and the addition for a
drag race and got on and it just went wild.

(39:15):
That's fabulous. How did you come up with aur Marrii
as your drag name? Yeah, so I wanted something very Filipino,
As you already know. I talked a lot about myself
about being Filippino, about how I was born of the Philippines,
and doesn't that Aura is a Philippine gay lingo. The
gays are using it, you know, when someone's like overacting

(39:37):
over there, or like trying to flirt with somebody or
like trying to show off, Like okay, got it. And
then my Jari, because I'm obsessed with characters, like anime
characters that have platinum white hair that are like connected
to the moon. So I said, like, let me look
up a Filipino moon Gotta's name, and then my already
showed up, and I was like, Okay, that's a cute name, Aura,

(39:58):
my Jari, Okay, got it, don't. I met a Filipino
drag queen and she had thought my Jari meant has
a penis or has a vagina, because in the Philippines,
my means has and Ari is like genitals. So when
she met me, she said, oh my gosh, I thought
your name meant Aura has genitals or has it been?

(40:22):
That works? That works? Oh my goodness, I love it.
Let's talk about your preparation. You were about to talk
about preparing. What did that take and how intense was it?
I wanted to cry every day and which I did.
Um No, it was just so the little time that

(40:42):
we had. Um And also I was in Nashville. I'm
in Nashville now and there's not a lot of like
you know, creative businesses here. I didn't have a lot
of designers here to work with. I knew one and
they did most of my stuff and I'm very, very
very thankful for them. They took on a lot for
me that how superior here in Nashville. But I also
have connections in Chicago, so I have reached out to them.

(41:05):
But the hard part of the preparation was getting designers
to say yes, finding designers that are available also, and
you know, a lot of designers are very busy. There's
they have their own stuff, and we can't tell them
that we're going to drag rates. I was saying, um,
and this is for a really big project, and um,

(41:28):
the deadline is this, And then another bit had reached
out to them yesterday, Oh it's the same project. Do
on this safe time. Okay, I know where you're going
summer camp. I'm like, yeah, summer camp, right right right.
But also, like I had to make sure that I

(41:49):
told the story with my runways, I had to make
sure that it meant something to me. And also I
wanted it to be very like unique. I always thought about, like,
you know, like what are the other girls gonna ring
for this run away? What what's the common theme gonna be?
And what can I do to be out of that
little box and be very unique? I think it did
a pretty good job. You did a wonderful job, Horror.

(42:10):
What was your favorite look that you were able to
present that I was able to present. I believe there's
two a tied eye, the oversized coat and oversized pants
and the big kimono that I had to walk out
with tight like with the tighter. I knew a lot
of the girls were gonna wear a lot of colors,

(42:32):
and I said, let's reach of other black fabric and
let's do a pants and oversized suit. And that hair
was inspired by an anime character from Hunter ex Hunter.
I don't know if you watched it. I'm sorry, I'm
like learning out and I love it. I love it.
And Thendara from one she wore a lot of that
kind of hair, so a lot of something very weird.

(42:55):
It was fantastic. And you know, one thing that Alec
and I love to see on the show is when
the queens bring their culture to the runway. And how
important was that for you? Like you were just saying
it was very important? Because in the past years on
drag Race, you know, I haven't seen a lot of
Asian representation, and if there were, they go home first,

(43:16):
their second, and so I it was kind of like
a big pressure for me to do really well for
my Asian community because I know a lot of them,
a lot of like Co Morale and all the other
Asian queens. When they found out, they had instantly messaged
me and said, You're gonna do so good, You're gonna
do so good, You're gonna make us proud. And I'm like,
holy sh it, like, don't put this pressure on me.

(43:36):
I'm already pressured and not for myself, and now I
have to represent the Asian community. Oh my god. But
I was glad. I was very glad to be able
to do that for, you know, for them, and I
hope that they're very proud of me. I know. It's
growing up, like you just don't see any like any person,
for people that kind of look like you on TV
and look up to, you know, And now that I

(43:58):
was able to do that, I'm getting a lot of
messages from not just Filipino people, but like anybody from
the Asian community and the immigrants also, and I'm getting
a lot of positive messages, and uh, you know, I
love that I was able to share myself to those
people and like reached out to them in a way.
I'd love to continue to do that. M I love
to inspire people. I love to be an inspiration to

(44:20):
a lot because I was able to have that when
I was younger. And I'm ready to share my story.
You know what. We say that all the time or
that that's the one thing that we love about drag
especially drag race, is how inclusive we have become and
you are. So I just want to thank you personally
because it's real easy for people to say no, I

(44:41):
don't want to do it, or I'll be you know,
I don't want to include my culture. I want to
be like everybody else, and it's likely it's so important
for us to include our culture and our performances and
that's something that's so great. So thank you for doing that.
Than you, and I'm excited for you guys to see
some of my runaways after, like you know, like the
the next week, because they're they're more in your face. Okay,

(45:05):
you know that's Filipedo that or this is that? Oh
my god, I'm so sad I wasn't able to show it,
but a lot of projects coming up and a lot
of video projects and photos that are going to be
showing up on Instagram, we would definitely look out for
that with her from Robin fierce that you both were
great friends. Let's talk about that and talk about the
other queens. Who did you like? Yeah, I love Robin.

(45:27):
Here's so much Okay, So during this show I got
really closed with Poppy and Amethyst, just just the fact
that we were all getting ready at the same table.
And I think I was the curse for that, because
every single one of them went home before me and
then me and Robin, because Robin was just so busy,

(45:51):
you know, hanging out with her Connecticut queens, so she
didn't really have time to like connect with other ones.
So she's like, I already got my two girls, I
don't need jobs. But camera, I just really connected with her.
But we got closer that episode once she went home,
and I felt so like, I'm like, I wish we
got so much closer from the very beginning. We would
have been a like me and her like why all together?

(46:13):
But yeah, I got close with her at the end
of her journey and I went home the next week.
And so after when I got home, I like we texted,
we had a group chat already, like the eliminated clean
side of group chare, oh wow, okay give us, and
so like that's just just helped me. And Robbing got
really close. I vibe with her. She has such a
good heart and we're the same level energy wise, So

(46:36):
got really close. And Selina's cities Anitra, Malaysia. Those are
my girls. I love them so much. They're good vibes. So,
you know. Alec always says that drag is like a
superpower and a superhero identity. What would your drag superpower
be my drag superpower? Um, oh my gosh, that's a

(46:57):
good question, but I would probably Oh my gosh, it's
such a pageant answer. No, I'm not gonna do that, No,
because I've always been that person just like I don't know,
like love to connect with people. I don't know what
it is me socially in drag is different than me
on stage because me on stage is very aggressive, very

(47:17):
high energy, very but then when I'm in social situations,
I'm just like I'm always smiling high How are you
this this and this and that, and like very shy,
like don't compliment me. Oh my god, he asked me.
When I'm on stage, but when I'm walking around, please
don't say it. Don't say either. Okay, Well, I'm just
gonna say when I was younger, I've always wanted to fly,

(47:39):
and I think flying would be a superpower of mine.
I think it's just a really wonderful different perspective of
the world that we get to live in this like
you know, like little bubble, and we don't get to
see it from that point of view, and I think
that could change a lot of my mentality, that fly.
What's next for you? Yeah, aside from traveling, obviously, I'm

(48:02):
going to be performing at the bar. I'm very happy.
I'm very glad. But in the future. Music has always
been a big part of my life. I've been singing
for the longest time. I have my little guitar. Even
though I'm not like the most professional guitar person ever.
I can play the basic stuff, right, I can. I
can play some you know, like a little bit of whatever.

(48:25):
I'm just kidding. So I would love to make music
for my boy self. It's going to be more of
my vulnerability about emotion, like you know, like the sad
stuff and then the drag music. I want that to
be very uplifting. So I'm gonna have like a two
side of me, like, yeah, you get to see the
person and then you get to see the entertainer side.
And also I feel like I am known for my

(48:47):
makeup and I love makeup so much, so I want
to be able to create like a palette for my
fans and I shadow pale it. So so many plans
in the future, but taking it as slow as possible.
I'm not trying you for the stars currently, um one
step at a time. You are so talented or I
cannot wait to see more of you. How can we

(49:08):
keep up with you on socials? Yeah? So I have Instagram, Twitter,
TikTok at or my r a A U R A
M A y A R I. I'm also in the
process of setting up my cameo, so if any fans
want to met a little message from me, go to cameo.
I haven't set it up yet, but it's almost done.
On YouTube, I'm everywhere only fans and even Twink just kidding.

(49:34):
You better make that Bundy come on now. Okay, joking. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's all I got. All right, thank you so much
for coming into Squirrel Friends and giving us a little backstage,
and we wish you well and I can't wait to
see you live on stage. I love you, my dear. Yeah,
thank you so much, Lonnie, and nice to meet you finally.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you,

(50:05):
and we're back Lonnie. Wow, So what was your favorite?
My favorite was Sasha and a Nietra. That was my
favorite lip sync. It was great. Me too, me too.
That was like why you watched the show. Yeah, that
was why you watch the show. I feel like that
lip sync, those moments are what makes RuPaul's drag race incredible.
And also, you know what Alyssa Edwards says. You know

(50:28):
why I talked about her shut Up and Drive lip sync.
She said that everybody thought that we rehearsed this, that
we figured this out beforehand. No, these are all figured
out in the moment, and these lip syncs for your
life happen in the moment and they're always incredible. And
Sasha and a Nature going, these two powerhouses going against
each other, unbelievable. I was like watching the w W E. Yeah,

(50:52):
it was. It was it was phenomenal and you see
why that they experience and your beauty and you know,
mixing it all in. It was just great. You know,
it was a great episode. I will say. So remember
to tip your queens people. Okay, give them some love
on social media. All of this is entertainment and it's fun,
but we should also be positive. And you know, we

(51:14):
give critiques. It's okay to give you a critique, but
let's not name call. Let's not talk about people like that.
So when you go on them and hit them on
their socials, be encouraging and be like, you know, just
be encouraging. That's how we ask yes, yes, and we
can give opinions and still be we I feel like
we Oh that's one I want to tell you, Lonnie.
So I was watching Raven and Rajah on Toot and Boot,

(51:37):
you know, the fashion photo review on Wild Presents Plus,
and they are savage. They are because they're queens and
they've done the show multiple times. They tear people apart.
They will flat outside, look this looks awful, like they'll
you know, they're not disrespectful, but they do not hold
back in their opinions. But with the shady. That's what

(52:00):
it is. It's shady, funny, funny. We're more, you know,
we're more like okay, we're like into episodes and giving
our opinions and stuff like that. And you know, so
don't forget to tweet or d m us if you
