Speaker 1 (00:05):
Everybody, good afternoon and happy Monday's except for one. I'm
your host out of grub. This is taking Hack Reacts
for with Keith Stewart as always from ESPN Radio and
hosted the Pro Show and UH writer and creator of
Read the Line. You can find that wherever you find
your things that you love. Keith, it is great to
see you. We are the holiday season. Well, I mean,
how much can I promote you? I mean, my god,

(00:25):
that was that was enough? I think right? If you
if people want it, to find it read the line.
I mean, that's it's simple. Yes, I go to it.
That's it. If you love money, check it out. So
this is our weekly reaction to the p g A
LPG news as well as many of the other things
that around the golf world. Keith, let's start with the

(00:47):
PGA event that was over the weekend, the QB Shootout. Now,
I will be honest with you, Keith, this was not
on my radar as weekend viewing. However, there are some
great storylines that emerged. In fact, I'm not even quite
sure the format. It's a two man team. I assume
it's best ball, best scorer type thing, and it might
be an aggregate score, but I saw minus twenty seven,

(01:09):
minus forty eight on the cards for some of these guys. Uh,
this was not your your classic member member. These are
the big boys out there getting it done the QB Shootout.
What's your reaction to the Weekend, Well, it was kind
of your classic member member because Friday was a two
man scramble, Saturday was modified alternate shot, Sunday was better
ball of partners, and it wasn't just all men. You know,

(01:29):
Bubba Watson was paired up Alexi Thompson for the second
year in a row, which was very cool, Uh, to
introduce some lpg A tour players into an event like this.
But I don't know if you knew this, Adam, but
QB E is another acronym for l I V because
the host of this was Greg Norman. And to me,
the biggest storyline and all of this is that when

(01:50):
you've got guys like Jason Cokerack and Kevin nah and
Billy Horshell Sam Burns hanging around and Greg Norman is
their host, you just wonder how many of them he's
trying to crude for you know what? I know you
love that topic, So this is new information. I didn't
even know that that was part of it. This is
this is great. This the QB shoot out, all of
a sudden is more important to me than ever. Well,

(02:12):
I'm happy that I was able to do that for you.
I was to heighten your um my excitement. So what
was your question? Was it? Is it thumbs up with
the QB? Is it? Man? I mean, where are we at? Total? Man? Yeah,
it's um You know, the golf was was good if
you were into it, but you know, most people, quite honestly,
probably weren't. At this point, we've dragged this thing on

(02:34):
pretty deep into December. Uh and now with the big
announcement that came this last week, you know, we're gonna
do it one more weekend. So I don't know that
many people were watching. If they were, they saw a
lot of great golf. I mean there was just tremendous,
tremendous scoring in this thing. Kevin nah made seven birdies
in a row on Sunday, I mean he and he
and co crac made made nine in a row as

(02:55):
a team. Um, And they kind of stormed the field
on the last day and the overnightly leads where Jason
Day and Mark Leashman, who played Great Mark Leishman, only
hold out three times from like over a hundred fifty
yards during the tournament. So there are some things to see.
But I really think the storyline you're gonna love this
because because you're a big conspiracy theorist, right, So that's

(03:19):
that broad brush you painted there. But okay, Well, I've
talked to the producers of this show and they said,
you know behind the scenes that you get very deep
into these things, you know. Well, okay, So the point
being is this right? Is that on Thursday Greg Norman
was hosting a press conference. Dadam okay, and there were

(03:42):
some reporters there and then the restaurant Zoom. But after
the first two questions, which were kind of softballs, the
internet went out down there the Ritz Carlton Resort. I
mean one the internet ever gone out of a Ritz Carlton.
Please get kidding me, right, Anybody that wasn't there alive
couldn't ask any questions. So the first question was like, um,

(04:03):
you know, Greg, how do you feel about this weekend?
I think it'll be a great event. The second question was, um,
so there's this other tour. He's like, I think people
should play all over the world and then they cut out.
So I mean, I don't know, I don't know. P
G A tour was supposed to be running the the
press conference, but it doesn't. Okay, all right, I see here,

(04:24):
you know it makes sense. I Uh at one point
the after after that question and someone went, hey, Gary,
shut it down, shut it down, right. I don't know, man,
But I mean on a weekend where there really weren't
gonna be a lot of golf stories, Greg Norman, glad
Hand and you know, twenty four different pros. Yeah, you know, yeah,

(04:49):
there's something. There's something there. Yeah. So Kevin out and
co crack the winners of the member member of the
most Expensive member member tournament without the it's probably ever
happened over the weekend. Uh, And Kevin nad did have
he I don't want to bring it down here, but
it's it's worth saying. He this was a very special
victory for him. He's had some death close to him

(05:09):
over the last several months, and he was he he
had a tough time getting through the post post match interview,
but we're we're very happy that this was some light
for Kevin nah here as he's gone through some tragic
moments over the last several several months. So are our
hats off to both Kevin Nah, Jason Cookrack for for
a win and the QB shootouts and obviously more more things. Yeah,

(05:32):
ke Keith, Yeah, I mean, Kevin Nah is a great
personality in golf, and I know he's not one of
the top ten players in the world, but when he's around,
he's fun. He's running the ball into the hole. And
you know, we hadn't seen him since that great run
at the Tour Championship and he was maybe on the
Rider Cup team, maybe not. And this answers a lot
of questions as to why he wasn't around in the fall.
And I think that it's I think that it's great
that hopefully that's behind him. He had a nice victory

(05:54):
this weekend, and we're gonna get more Kevin Knack coming
in January and beyond. So we move on down to
number two. Two reacts here on the stick. Nack reacts
amount of grub Key story. Keith. Last Monday, you said
something uh Nostradamas esque where you predicted that Tiger would
be playing in the P and C Championship. This is

(06:15):
just after we'd seen him hit three drives and he
post on Twitter or Instagram, and then all of a sudden,
we see him at the at the range, at at
at the Hero World Challenge, and uh, and you said
he was coming back this weekend, and I said, there's
no way. It's ridiculous, it's it's insanity. This is Monday,
a week ago at this time. And uh, it took
forty eight hours for the news to break that Tiger

(06:36):
was in fact going to play. So we made a
we made a gentleman's bat live on the air, and uh,
it came out just forty eight hours later. So I
I would like to speak in the conspiracy. I think
you might have had some inside information that you were
used against me to make me look stupid. However, I
was adamant that he was not going to play in
the PNC, that it was too soon. It was it
was not even fathomable. And here he has teamed up

(06:58):
with Charlie Woods this weekend, his son. This was the
last time he played and we saw him play was
this time last year in this event. The world and
the golf world is very excited to see him out there.
A lot of chatter around, is he gonna be at
full speed. Is is this even gonna be a thing?
Is he just out there as a dad? Is he
out there? Is Tiger trying to get his work? In
your reaction, Tiger Charlie, PNC Championship and the PG Championship

(07:23):
in general, thumbs up for the p p NC Championship,
Tiger Woods back and thumbs up that Now you know
what I'm serving for lunch today, Adam. And that's Crow?
All right? I got you there, all right? Yeah, yeah,
that's how I I opened it. I said you were right.
I mean, do we need to have a ticker tape
parade down the street here? You were right? I was mistaken?

(07:45):
And uh and and that's the end of that. I mean,
I don't think we need to celebrate it here. You
had some insider information, you use it against me here
on on on the show. And that's where we stand, folks.
There's a reason why I write the line and he
reads the line. Okay, it's just that simple, all right? No,
but big you know, um, big congratulations to the PNC Championship.
This parent child. Now, this is a silly season event

(08:07):
that everyone can get behind. They've got a tremendous field.
Everyone from Gary Player and Tom Watson, the Tiger Woods
and j T. One of my favorite teams are Nelly
and Peter Korda. Now Peter Korda, you know, he'd won
a Grand Slam in tennis years ago. I think it
was the Australian Open back in the late nineties. And
you know, now he's got to compete in play with

(08:29):
you know, his daughter, who at one point this year
is number one in the world. She's number two in
the world right now, so gold medalist. So I think
there's a lot of cool storylines there. Obviously none cooler
than Tiger playing with his twelve year old son Charlie,
and big thumbs up for that. Um, we're gonna go
to another Ritz Carlton. We're on the Ritz Carlton Tour.
This time we're up in Orlando and Greg Norman, I guess,
designs all those courses. So, um, who knows, maybe Greg

(08:51):
Norman is gonna be there recruiting the kids of major
champions or something. I don't know. I will tell you this, dude.
There's a couple other UH nice entries into the UH
in the PC Championship Stick and Hack Alumni, Sticking Hack
guest alumni Rich Beam will be playing as well as
Mark Amira, both which have been on the show this
year alone, will be playing there. So the Stick and

(09:11):
hack Eyes will be on to two past guest of
the show, Rich Beaver Marcomarra. But yeah, obviously Tiger and
his son. There just isn't anything. You have the greatest
golf for ever playing with with Charlie, who unfortunately is
going to have the comparisons to his dad, and he
walks like him, he swings like him, he has a
swagger like him. But we haven't seen Charlie in a year.

(09:32):
And you have kids. I have kids. We know how
quickly they change, and one year makes a massive difference
just in their in their growth, but in their athletic ability.
I'm excited, probably more excited to see Charlie out there
and see what he's doing with his game. Uh yeah,
of course Tiger obviously, but to see Charlie's and to
watch him grow up here right in front of our

(09:52):
eyes and to have a year of growth in the
game is very, very exciting. And uh, I hope that
it's that it's good stuff and and obviously we hope
I hope that they win. What an incredible story that
would be as we kick off the Christmas and the
New Year's here um at the end of the year.
But then when did we start back up with golf, Keith,
because don't think it like an hour and a half

(10:13):
break and then there's some other tournament and and right,
I mean, this is this is insane. I mean, we'll
be back with Cappella starts January six, so exactly exactly,
you know, I mean when it comes to reacts, at
some point, you know, we gotta take a break. But
right now we're reacting to Tiger playing, and then next
week we'll be reacted to how Tiger did. And it's

(10:33):
really cool. I mean, it's it's a huge thumbs up
for all of golf. Again, you know, you and I
have said this a million times this year. For some reason,
two thousand twenty one has had this theme of redemption.
And there's there's no bigger storyline than Tiger ten months
later teeing it up with his son. So it's it's
all pretty cool. And uh, I mean, all right, what
else you got for me today? Well, I will let

(10:53):
me just let me book in this PostScript on that.
I hope that the announcers don't be labor his tiger's
ability on the course. And I hope that they enjoy
for what it is, and that's a dad with his
son on a golf course in the middle of December
and Orlando for for millions to watch. I I hope
they won't. They can't help themselves. They've got to fill

(11:14):
the time. But I hope that we don't see that
looks like a tiger that we used to know, that
looks like a tiger of old, that looks like two
thousand four tiger. I don't want to hear that. I
want to see how he interacts with with with Charlie.
I want to see the other the other participants, because
there's a lot of great names, there's a lot of
great star power there. I hope that they do the
right thing with that. With that coverage, they won't, but

(11:34):
I hope they do. I mean, Adam, it's it's the
Golf Channel in NBC, so pretty much Sunday afternoon in
the in the middle of it, they'll just they'll segue
over to something else, like monster trucks or whatever. So
when you reach every moment, they'll just they'll just see
you won't even have to worry about it all right,
So we we started this show with with a que.

(11:55):
That's a QB you shoot out, let's end the show
and reacts with a que as well. Q school. See
what I did. Yeah, so we're gonna start it with
a queue and then end it with a QUE. So
both topics start with Q. You know, it's not often
that people use the letter to you that much. It's
that's exactly that's my point. That's my point. I thought

(12:15):
you'd be more excited. So thumbs up reaction on my
ability to produce a show. Don't um, don't, don't hurt
your arm, pat yourself on the back. I don't. I
I typically do Q school for the l p g
A wrapped up two weeks of intense golf for Q school,
and also the Champions Tour had their own Q School,

(12:35):
which was news to me. I didn't even know that happened.
I thought you just turned five, and it's like you're
a P card. You just a r P card. You
just got it. Apparently you have to, you have to
qualify for the damn thing. Keith walk us through the
Q School for the l p g A in the
in the Champions Tour well, you know, I think next
year that you and Mike should do a stick and
Hack lp G, a q school challenge, and you should

(12:57):
do eight rounds like these ladies did over two ruling
weeks and see if you could just survive, right, I
mean it would it would be it would be really
good theater. I I think, I don't know. I mean
forty six ladies as of yesterday they got their LPGA
tour cards. Congratulations to them. They do play eight rounds.
That's double what they do for corn Ferry Tour School.

(13:17):
I don't know how they come up with eight rounds,
but man, it's tough. And you know what's cool to
think about the LPGA is that when you look at
the forty six ladies that made me through made it through,
it's it's really a world tour. You had fifteen Americans,
a couple from Australia, another I think it was ten
from Europe, another dozen from Asia, so you're talking about
South Korean Japan. So it's to me, um, it's a

(13:42):
really nice storyline this time of year, UM as versus
maybe something like the QB shootout, which seems a little
bit more like a money grab if you're really into gold.
You follow these Q schools. Q school stories say that
three times fast, right, That's why I put it in here.
I knew that was going to be difficult down on
that that was was awful. Anyway, Uh, let's let's just

(14:02):
move along and we'll go over to the PGA Tour
champions where a local p g A club pro named
Rob Labritz shoot sixty four adam in the final round,
seven birdies, no bogies. Right, he's medalist by three and
he gets his PGA Tour Champions card for two thousand
twenty two. Now that's gott if you want to. I mean,

(14:24):
I know, I just said that. The ladies play eight rounds,
but forty six ladies get in. The medalist was thirty
three under, but you have to shoot four under for
eight rounds to get into l p g A and
get your card. Champions Tour they only take six guys.
And he was the medalist and he's been a club
pro since he was nineteen years old. Go on to

(14:44):
Twitter PGA Tour Champions account. His name's Rob Lebritz. There's
all these emotional videos. He calls his wife, he's crying. Um,
it's like every time you and I play golf. Adam,
you're crying, you're on the phone calling your wife. I
mean you will, you will really be able to connect
with Rob. It's an awesome, awesome story. Congratulations him because
he's a fellow club professional like me. You gotta love
a good one like that. So two thumbs up for

(15:06):
all the Q school stories this time of year, all
those people are gonna have a really happy holidays. And
that's the side of golf that a lot of people
don't see. They don't they don't get that that coverage
and and that raw emotion. And this is somebody that
has dedicated his life, and these women have dedicated their
lives in most cases to this sport. And to come
up and and have that moment and and to ring

(15:28):
the bell when it when it matters most is is
remarkable and encouraging. Um he is, He's That's a great story.
To answer your question earlier, Keith, could I survive eight
rounds the l p G A q Q school and
And the answer is an emphatic note, I could not.
I can barely handle this fifteen minutes right, and now
you're gonna put me out there for eight rounds of

(15:49):
golf trying to keep my head on straight. Uh, knowing
what is at the end of the of the tunnel.
I couldn't do a two day Labor Day invitational without
losing my mind, I shot. So I don't know what
you want from me. The answer is no. If you
want to continue to browbeat me that I can't. I
couldn't do it, You're right, I couldn't. I was wrong
last week. I couldn't do I couldn't play eight rounds

(16:09):
in a row, and I surely couldn't do it when
they when it counted. We'll just take a deep breath
before you lunch today. Seem like you're really emotional about
all of this. I just I feel attacked. I feel
triggered today. So and and I blame you. Keith Keith
Stewart from ESPN Radio and host of the Pro show
Find It where you find all your podcasts as well
as the Stick and actually you can find that one

(16:30):
as well. And he also is a writer and creator
of Read the Line, Find That where if you like
if you don't like money, then don't read it. But
if you like money and you like gambling and you
like to to understand what's happened in the world, of
golf gambling. Read the line is is it? Keith Stewart,
um my, thanks to you. We will see you next
week though, because we still have another reaction. We were
gonna take a break, but I don't think we can
take a break until Tigers has done done playing golf

(16:51):
here until the winter season ends, which apparently six hours
before Christmas Day. So we will be back on Monday
at noon, as always for stick and hackery. I enjoy
your day, enjoy your weak and God speed to you
and yours. M
