Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, everybody, good afternoon, and welcome to stick a Hack
reacts on your host, Adam grow Up from Sticking Hack.
That's Keith Stewart from the pro show Sticking Hack, and
but more specifically from read the line, who Keith? As
as we all know, UM, anytime that there's somebody out
(00:21):
there saying, hey, here are my picks for the week,
it can go anyway to Sunday, and you're only as
good as your last pick. Well right now, sir, read
the line, Keith Stewart, You're on fire if you don't
know by now. Last week, at this time on this channel,
you said the words Luke List outright winner UH two
(00:44):
one and who won the Farmer's Insurance Open at Torrey
Pines one. Luke List. You're reacting to yourself first, and
then your reaction to Luke List win. I don't know
about a reaction to my self. I mean, I'll give
two thumbs up to all things um Farmer's Insurance Open.
(01:05):
At this point, it was a good week. It was
a lot of fun and uh to sweat it out
with him to get to a playoff, and I mean
I felt like for two hours I was right there
with him on the range, so you know, along with
Faldo and dance. So it was it was good. It
was a lot of fun. And um, you know, onto
the next you know, you said it yourself, you're only
as good as your last win. So we'll throw that
(01:27):
ninety two one aside. And uh you know, I'm surprised
you're here after that ninety two one payout. I appreciate you.
Uh you, I guess the banks banks have only been
up for several hours. You haven't gotten there yet to
to to take out your cash. All right, Keith, there
are a lot of storylines zone. I don't want to
just blow right past look list, and I don't want
to make this about you. I like to make it
about me. Uh So over over the last weekend, there
(01:50):
were so many storylines and the Farmer's insurance open Number
one was is that it ended on a Saturday, and
more specifically ended Saturday night prime time. And I don't
know if there's anything that I enjoy and more than
watching golf on Saturday night and and watching this playoff
on a Saturday night at eight o'clock. It was perfect,
absolutely perfect from a viewing experience. That's number one. Story Line.
(02:13):
Number two Jim Nances in a truck in Kansas City
broadcasting the the Golf because he had to do the
Chiefs game on Sunday, So that was brand new third Foualdo?
Uh what was foul? Though? End of story there. He
said some ridiculous things over the weekend as we all
maybe maybe heard something. It was he had a tough weekend. Man,
(02:35):
I don't know. And then we've got Luke List and
Will's Alts both going for their first win in a
playoff at Tory Pines and Will's Altis could have one
the match, the game, the golf game as it were,
with a with a nine to ten ft uphill putt,
and he missed it. He did he he pulled, He
(02:58):
pulled what we all pull on the remember weekend and
pulling Adam Grubb, your reaction to that putt, Wills alt
Tours and the and the reaction that he must be feeling,
and uh and his his emotions at that time, and
how do you get into a playoff hole then after
missing that put any questions do you have for me?
My react, my reaction to the punt was it was
(03:20):
not very good. Sorry, Wills alt Tours. I mean he
leads the world and like Strokes gained everything except for putting.
I feel bad for the guy, you know. I mean,
I know he does look like Owen Wilson, and that's
probably great with the ladies and everything. I don't know,
you know, wow, But you know, it's just one of
those things where when it comes right down to it,
the reason that guys like Tiger we're so good, or
(03:42):
there's such a thing as win equity, you know that
down the stretch they make the putts when they count,
and you know, this is one of the things that
people talk a lot about rom you know, I mean,
he's had a lot of leads after thirty six fifty
four holes and you know, either he gets COVID or
he doesn't finish them off. And so it's one of
those things where you know, after two five starts, Luke
(04:03):
list pulls this thing off. He's had like two runner
ups in his career. The guy has been around forever.
He was the only one in the top five or
six guys that shot below par on the back nine.
So he shot thirty four, the rest of him shot
thirty six. Whatever. They all had their chance. They know
what holes are coming. It's Tory Pine South, So you know,
I mean, I it's tough to pick on just one
(04:25):
put And then there's the putt from the third round
on Friday that everyone saw all over social media with
that just wasn't good. And I know that like whenever
somebody walks through the room and they only get to
see like his putting stroke and they say, well, cheez,
what's wrong with that guy? I mean, if that's everyone's
you know, like first reaction to what's going on, it
probably needs to be fixed. And you know, good luck
(04:47):
to him and and all of that. Will's altoris is
gonna win a tournament. He hits it that good. But
you know, Luke List had a better week with the putter,
and he hits it just as good as Will's autoris.
So I mean, that's had one of the one of
the most one of the greatest shots that I've seen
live from a somebody who down the stretch in the
playoff on on a team which is already a very
difficult hold, terrible, terrible drive. And then look at and
(05:11):
look at how much information I have so far right
and I only had to watch like thirty minutes the
entire thing I and I can tell you everything that happened.
They both had terrible drives on there on the playoff hole,
but Luke Liss then got into into the middle of
fairway and hit one of the most perfect shots that
you could hit without going in. He hit it to
a foot, which is a kick in gimme at any
any of course in America. Um, it's incredible. But what
(05:34):
I loved about Luke Liss was this storyline that this
was his first win and when he when he won,
he immediately ran off the green into the arms of
his wife and his kids. Didn't even say congratulate. I mean,
he went back obviously, did did there all the right
gentlemanly things, but he went straight to his family and
and hearing his wife say to the little his little daughter, Uh,
(05:55):
daddy won the trophy. I mean, my guy, it's so
so great And it was so cool, um to to
see that that moment, so all in all Saturday night golf,
prime time Tory Pines playoff, Will's Altrus pulling Adam Grub
which they're saying in the golf ranks today that that's
what happened. Uh, it was. It was amazing. So congratulations Luke,
(06:16):
list Congratulations to to the followers and readers read the
line as well. If you put money on Luke List
and you listened to Keith, first of all, kudos because
that was that was quite a quite a long shot. Um.
But you're you're, you're backing up to bring struck today.
Let's move on to number two. Hey, you know what,
it's been a good January. I had cam Smith at
the Century and I closed a month bookends right, two
(06:38):
of four. Bat you got bad. Let's go to the
LPGA in the game Bridge and lydia Co wins her
seventeen of her career. Lydia Co a name we've been
saying time and time again over the last several months. Here,
Uh lydia Co winner. Your reaction to the game Bridge
lpg A at bay A Vista Coco Cabana. Uh No,
(07:01):
it's Boca Rio. Yes, it's a it's a Netflix series
looking up all right. So the cool thing about her,
and you know where I think you're going with this,
is that she's only twenty four years old. Now, I
know that people are like man, lydia Co has been
around forever, she has um but she this is her
seventeenth win. Like you said, no one's won seventeen on
(07:22):
the LPGA Tour before the age of five, since Nancy
Lopez back in nineteen seventy nine at the Copacabana. You know,
I mean it was unbelievable. Yeah, daniel Kang hunting her down. Um,
you know another read the line plug. But I had
Yukasaso to win. She was right there to win. In
at the end she came in third. She was two
shots back. But you know, I think when it came
(07:43):
down to it, just like with Luke List on the
back nine, Lydia Coo got it done Bertie's on fifteen
and sixteen. While Danielle Kang was making pars, she got
up and down from the bunker next to the green.
On eighteen she sealed the deal. She won by one.
You gotta give her credit. She has, you know, really
had in a redemption of sorts in her career over
the last two years. Now with back to back seasons
(08:03):
with a victory, you gotta love it. I mean, I
think two big thumbs up for for Lydia for getting
the job done in a really good field. Nellie's there,
Danielle Kang's playing good. I mean, there's just a lot
of ladies. Brooke Henderson Lexie was there and Uh, you know,
one of the things I want to get your reaction
to the golf on Saturday, it was unbelievable. They had
(08:24):
like they had like thirty wins. I mean it looked
like they were playing in October in the northeast. I
mean there was leaves blowing everywhere and this was this
was at Boca Rio. I mean it was. It was
a pretty cool thing to see. And you know, Lydia,
she powered through all of that and she won. So,
you know, seventeen wins before you know, when she's twenty
four years old. That's impresily. It's more than impressive, it's amazing.
(08:44):
On congratulations to Lydia UH and and Luke UM. A
lot of a lot of alterations happening here on reactions
so far this morning, Keith, all right, let's move on
to number three and this I I not that I
want you to give me a thumbs down, but you've
been very positive this morning and of this afternoon. I
appreciate it. Uh. Victor Hoveland a winner of the Slink
(09:04):
dot Io Dubai Classic UH presented by Dubai, part of
the DP World Tour. So the Slink dot Io Dubaio
Desert World Classic presented by Dubai at the DP World Tour.
Victor Hovland a winner. But that's not the storyline. The storyline,
despite the ridiculous name of the tournament, the storyline is
that Roy McElroy uh had some issues yet again, and um,
(09:29):
I mean he didn't he didn't time, but he came
awful close. Uh tell us about that tournament, Victor Hoblind
your reaction to the winner of that tournament? Alright, so
big thumbs down to the name, But you know what
you did it with tremendous a plum so kudos to you.
You know, I know your ego needs a little stroking
at some point during this lunch time conversation. So there
(09:52):
you go, Victor Hovelin, man number three in the world.
The gag goes four under for the last three holes,
now drivable par four, par five five, uh part five
eighteen toll gotta make a birdie there and Rory goes
par bogey, hits it in the water on eighteen. You know,
just just not not a solid finish on his part.
There's no doubt that his game is in great form
(10:15):
and a lot of the guys that were there too.
I mean this was a huge field. Terrell Hatton. I
mean you had Adam Scott all these guys up near
the top of the leaderboard, which was cool. And Victor
is Victor is impressive man. You know, I call him
the Smiling Assassin. He's just like he's always got that
kind of like cheeky smile going on. But he just wins.
I mean he's won three of his last five events.
(10:35):
He wins at Mayakobo, he wins at the Hero Now,
he wins here. I mean he could be up the
big things, just like Lydia. He's only twenty four years old, man,
I mean, that's that's a lot right there. You you
look at look at look at the top three guys
in the world. You know, Rom's under thirty and then
you got Colin and um Victor about twenty four years old.
There's some good things going on in the youth of
(10:57):
golf right now. And you know in the men's game
and the ladies game, but you know, specifically to the
men's game. It's pretty cool. Mr Hobland has won three
out of his last five tournaments that he's been in. Yeah. Man,
he started going into the final round shot sixty six
came from six back and one in a playoff. Crazy.
I mean he's good. You know, he's number three in
(11:18):
the world right now, and he's one of those those
golfers that that sneaks up. He's not flashy, he doesn't
he his his post round photos of him with the
trophy or probably some of my favorite favorite great That
smile is great. He's almost like he is shocked himself,
Like dude, It's like it's like he goes straight to
(11:39):
the dispensary right before he gets to the photo shoot.
It's unbelievable. He's just that, I don't know, how do
you describe that smile all the other way. He's just
so happy, right give him that like a bag of
pretzels and the guys beyond. So let's what's coming up.
So those are the three we got. Luke Lisp thumbs up,
Lydia Coo thumbs up, Victor Hoblin Uh thumbs thumbs man, man,
(12:00):
I think or is that it thumbs up as well?
I mean he's third in the world. But you know,
I mean you you like a little bit of like,
I don't know, could equity control here. So we'll get
we'll give him a math. Maybe it's the thumbs up
and three out of five times every that's that's pretty
damn good. So maybe it sumbs up. Thank you think,
so I'll give it think all right. Hey, I mean
(12:21):
you're we're we were both kind of criticizing Luke list
and and it's really Will's al Tours in the way
that they put right. Will's al Torus and Victor Hoblin
are essentially the same golfer. They both hit it that good.
But Victor Hoblin can flat out put and look what
he's doing. You know, the guy wins. It's impressive. It's impressive.
But you asked the question, what's going on this week?
(12:42):
You know, there's the bye week for the super Bowl,
so there's probably nothing going on. Well, Greg Norman has
something to say about that. We're finally here, Adam Grubb,
it's the Saudi Invitational, and for all this build up,
probably nothing's going to happen. So but but who knows.
I mean, if you were gonna make an announcement and
you were the the Live Golf Enterprises Tour, Sink dot
(13:06):
Io Gamebridge, I mean you this would be your week
to come out and make a you know, make a
big press release, so you know, maybe we'll get something,
but chances are it's just gonna be an excessive amount
of Bill Murray on CBS with Jim Nance on Saturday
and Sunday. But at the end of the day, one
hold one could hope. You know, I'm excited for the
day where the stick Knack Challenge is one of the
(13:27):
sponsored names because it's just so it's so easy to say, right,
presented by read the line, So the Sticknack Challenge, presented
by read the line. Those that's that's the goal. Keith, right,
and that and that and if someone makes fun of that,
then they need their head examined. He's Keith Steward from
ESPN Radio in New York. By the way, do you
guys get hit with that blizzard last week? You okay everything?
Oh yeah, yeah, we did, no problems. You're fine right
(13:48):
the coast. You guys just well, I mean, I mean yeah,
we're used to these. Yeah, it's okay everything. Was I
appreciate you asking. You know, dude, Hey, I hit nine one.
Do you think I know it's snowed? Come on, seriously,
are you kidding me? Come on radio? Read the line
and co host here. Sticking Hack reacts on Adam gruffrom
Stick and Hack, thank you so much for listening. Enjoy
(14:10):
your day. And you're weak and let's see if Keith
can do it again and go back to back outright winners.
Figure it out. People, If you're not following keyth store
by this point, what is your deal? See you later, everybody,
Best of luck, Hey Adam tomorrow, It's the new Year,
Chinese New Year's Year. The rooster Man, Let's roll, okay,
