Speaker 1 (00:05):
Hello, are you a good afternoon? It is Adam Grubb
and Key Stewart and this is Sticking Hack reacts. That
was weird. Keith, I will grant you that was a
weird start, but we're gonna perseverere It is Thanksgiving week,
I've already mentally checked out of the week, and it's
Monday afternoon. I've already shut it down. Uh So let's
just try to power through this if you and I can,
(00:26):
because there is so much to talk about here as
we react to the week's p g A lpg A news.
Key Stewart from ESPN Radio and hosted the pro show
I'm Out of Sticking Hack hosted the Sticking Haack Show.
We are talking about some two huge names in golf,
a third up and coming name in golf, and then
a bonus react, which if you don't know what the
(00:46):
bonus react is at this point, then you've not been
watching anything over the last twenty four hours around the
golf social media network. We will talk about that in
a second. First, so first up, Keith Stewart. Colin Morikawa.
He wins again DP World Tour Championship, his sixth win.
It feels like a thousand wins this year. We have
said his dame a lot. He has been very, very
(01:07):
prevalent in the in the p G A landscape this year.
Colin Marcawa your reaction to his victory at the DP
World Tour Championship, I mean you have to give the
guy two big thumbs up. Uh sixty six on the
final day, no bogies. He birdies five of his last
seven wins the whole tournament by three, first American to
ever win the race to Dubai. I mean it's hard
(01:29):
to put Colin mark how into perspective. He's only been
on He's only twenty four years old. At him, he's
only been on the scene for a couple of years
since he got out of cow Um and I guess
on his resume in that time he's got what like
six wins, two majors, twenty four top tens, like nineteen
million in the bank if any of that's good. I
(01:50):
don't know. The Ryder Cup he was, you know, co
m v P with DJ, I mean, Colin Markaw was
unbelievable and uh, you know, I'd love to give a
big shout out to his UH instructor, Rick sessing House.
And I think that there's something to be said for
not only the fact that Rick is a PGA professional,
but their specific approach to Colin. Rick is not only
(02:10):
his swing coach, but he's his mental coach. And I
honestly think that, you know, at twenty four years old,
the poison everything that Colin shows. I mean, there's no
doubt that he's a talented guy. But man, he knows
how to close. And it's like he goes out, he
puts his Yager jersey on it. He just puts the
puck in the net. I mean it is great, and
uh it's fun for all all of us to watch.
(02:31):
I mean it was a superb Sunday. You wake up
to him winning and and that closing stretch, and uh,
I feel for Rory. But at the same time, Collins
the USA guy. So you know, it's Thanksgiving week. Let's
go hometown. I'll talk about you mentioned the name there, Keith,
so I watched over the weekend. The New York Times
presents a documentary around the Janet Jackson nipplegate issue back
(02:53):
in the early two thousands of the Super Bowl. I
bring that up because, uh, Roy McElroy had his own
kind of nipplegate controversy over the weekend. I don't know
if you saw that or not, but on social media
he had ripped his shirt after the round and uh
was exposing his his chest there in the in the clubhouse. Um,
(03:14):
obviously there's no reaction there other than the guys the fighter.
He was mad he ripped the shirt. But how many
times in your golf career, Keith have you ripped your
shirt in anger inside the clubhouse after a round? I
would say zero. But I will come to Rory's. I
will come to Rory's defense and I'll say, hey, the guy.
I mean, we are so hypercritical of all of these
(03:37):
golfers just being so bland all the time and not
showing any emotion. It just you know, of course it
looks great, it's gonna make some birdies, it'll be a
good week. And you know, Rory puts himself out there
all the time, you know, And I mean it doesn't matter,
you know. Um. I love the flavor that Collins always like, hey,
say thank you to everything, cherish every moment. I love
rom really trying to be positive all the time when
(03:59):
he gets COVID like eighteen different times this year. I mean,
you know, so there's a lot of storylines there. I
didn't expect Rory to try to rip his shirt off
like I'll a Hulk Holgan style, but I kind of
I kind of love it. I'll be honest with it,
so I'm gonna give it. I'll definitely give it a
thumbs up. And um, I honestly, Uh, I mean, there's
one way to go about it. You could be like
(04:20):
Mark How's caddie and you can show respect to the
institution and go bow to Augusta or after you get done,
you can just rip your shirt off and uh just
go full tilt wrestling. And in either case, Adam golf
is good in one and it's only gonna get better
in two. What do you got for me next? Jin
Young co Player of the Year, the role X Player
(04:41):
of the Year and winner the CME Group Tour Championship.
That's cash money for her. She continues an impressive run.
Uh for sure, Jen Young co winner of the CME
Group Tour Championship at minus twenty three. It was dominating
over the weekend, but she only won by one. But
it wasn't dominating performance from her. For wire to wire,
I mean people are gonna start to confuse me with
(05:03):
Phil Mickelson with all the thumbs up, I mean, what
are you gonna do? And her last nine starts, she's
had five wins, She's had almost thirty rounds in the
sixties eleven of those rounds of bogey free. She has
ninety percent of her greens and regulation of her greens
and regulation. I mean that that blows away like an
Attica number. I mean, it's unbelievable. On this year alone,
(05:24):
she won three and a half million, She had five wins,
she had thirteen top tens and nineteen events. I'm sorry,
what is your keith, I mean, what's what's happening here?
You were saying stats that have not been said before.
She is uh and and in the year of of
of the Court of Sisters, in the year of of
some controversy at the LPGA, but also UH, the LPGA
(05:46):
becoming a powerhouse brand and and tour Uh. She is.
She is a name that that we are going to
hear weekend and week out. There's no doubt about it.
I don't see any slowdown from her anytime soon. And
if you say nine greens of regulation, I don't even
know what that means. I mean, I do. I do
know what it means, but that's an insane stat that
(06:09):
It just shows how important the iron game is. It
shows him how important the approach game is. And if
you're out there as a stick and hack member and
listener trying to figure out how to how to lower
your score, we'll just match her her stat of green's regulation.
You should be fine, correct, um. I mean, honestly, she
(06:29):
hit her last sixty three greens in regulation in a row.
At the CME Group Tour Championship. She had nine birdies
no bogies in the final round and she had seven
birdies in a row in the third round, Adam. And
here's the kicker. I mean, here's how good the LPGA is.
She shoots sixty three in the final round and she
only wins by one because Nasata she's sixty four and
(06:51):
she's one shot behind her. I mean, I mean, you
turn this on and thank goodness, it was on NBC yesterday.
Uh It's Air Tour Championship. Largest the entire round was
on Call me crazy. You know you can watch the
whole thing, even even her interview afterwards. I mean it
was fantastic. One and a half million dollar prize. Jin
(07:13):
young co. Um just just amazing her and Nelly battling
it out for number one next year. It's just gonna
be a lot of fun to watch. They're young, they're
really really good, and um, the LPGA is in a
great place. Let me ask you, this is Jin Youngko,
the greatest golfer that is currently on a golf course
and any anywhere in the world. Oh huh uh certainly
(07:41):
the last six monthsably, the last six months can argue
against what she's done for the last six months. And
I know we're gonna get to the winner of the
RSM Classic, and he's had a great fall. But five
wins and nine starts and thirty rounds in the sixties
your greens, you know. Um, yeah, the last six months
is no better, no better golf around the planet than
(08:01):
Jin Yungko. I love it all right. We're going to
my number three reaction. This is uh the RSM Classic
down at Sea Island, and it's Taylor Gooch winning his
first time ever. Uh. Taylor Gooch is a is a
name that I like to say out loud. It's fun
for me. We did it this morning before we got
ready for school with the kids. We just kept saying
Taylor Gooch RSM Classic winner. Your reaction to Taylor and
(08:23):
tell us about him, because I'm gonna be honest with you.
Outside of his name being awesome, I don't know much
about him. Well, you know when he's thirty years old
and he went to Oklahoma State. So if we go
back a little ways and you follow a little bit
of college golf, Taylor Gooch was a name. I mean,
he was a really good Division one college player. He
went to one of the best programs in the country.
Fast forward a couple of years. The guy is a
(08:44):
really good, solid PGA Tour player and look at this fall.
Um something he must have flipped the switch after this
year's FedEx Cup playoffs, but he goes fourth, eleventh, fifth, eleven,
sixtieth in Houston. I don't know, maybe it was a
Texas thing. And then he is his first two point
three million in the silly season that they're calling this
fall that this guy has earned. And he closes with
(09:07):
a sixty four bogey free sixty four when all the
world was chasing him. Mackenzie Hughes shoot sixty two, Tyler
Mercomber shoot sixty and he gotta give two big thumbs up,
not just for this event, but for the whole fall
run that Taylor Gooch has been on. I mean, the
guy is unbelievable. He another great iron player. I mean,
when you come down to it this weekend, this Sunday,
(09:29):
more Kawa, he hit his greens over there in Dubai Goods,
the same thing in rs M and Jim Young co
at of her greens. You know, there's a recipe there
for all of our stick and hack followers here for
all your members there, Adam get good at putting the
ball in play and putting it on the green. If
there's one statistic you want to go after in two,
(09:50):
if you normally hit like two three greens, try to
hit five, because if you do, you will score better
and as proof positive by these three, you will win
and you will do very good. He's up the thirty
third in the world. Um, Taylor Gooch Uh not necessarily
a household name, but definitely a very very fine player.
At him it's he's the household name here at the
grub household. I'll tell you that we were just chanting
(10:12):
Taylor Goops this morning as we poured multiple bowls of cereal.
It was a fun morning here at the the Grub Household.
What kind of cereal? It's it's various kinds we've got.
We've got your honey out cheerios, We've got your fruit loops,
and we got your lucky charms and they all kind
of intermixed with each other depending on the mood you
make cereals. It's happened before. Yes, I don't know if
(10:33):
there's any judgment that needs to happen from the from
the listeners or from you. We we live our lives
way we live it, and that's why why are you
getting so defensive? Feel make cereal this morning? I feel
as if you're attacking me. So I mixed. I mixed.
I'm sharing with you. I mixed cereal this morning. You did? Did? Yeah? Yeah,
I can't believe this is the topic today. But what
(10:54):
did you mix? I mixed frosted cheerios with apple cinnamon cheerios.
Oh man, that's a that's a explosion on the palette.
I bet, my guy. I mean it was tasty. It
was bet it was, but it was. If you're still
hanging in here on the stick and Hack Reacts, we
we welcome you to Key Stuart, and I'm grub as
we react to cereal and other topics around golf. So
(11:14):
we've got react. Well, we've got a bonus reacted. Don't
you worry? But I just want to I want to recap.
We've got a hundred thumbs up basically for the weekend.
There was nothing bad, there was nothing negative that everything
was great. Um, so that's good. Now now we moved
to the bonus react. And on November twenty two, which
is today and some fifty eight years ago, John F.
(11:36):
Kennedy was assassinated. If I can bring down the mood here, Uh,
John of Kenny was assassinated on this day in nineteen
sixty two. And Uh, the question is has there been
more video watched in more seventh second video ever watched
other than a Pruter film? And the answer is yes.
(11:57):
And it was yesterday when Tiger Woods showed us seven
seconds of him playing golf, and the world stopped on
its axis. Tiger Woods, it was on an actual range
hitting a golf ball. You heard the crisp sound of it,
you saw his his leg sleeve, you watched him hit,
and his his caption was very simple, which I can't
(12:19):
remember now. Making progress, making progress, two words, making progress. Um,
and this is the second time that he's had that
exact same tweet and or post, uh in in a
comeback your reaction Tiger woods on a on a on
a range hitting a golf ball and the world stopped.
Go ahead, Well, I'm gonna go to thumbs down on
(12:40):
your lead in there because you got so deep in
all of it that you forgot making progress. I gotta
go thumbs down there. But obviously, um, the chat is
back seven million views and twenty four hours at him.
This video has had seven million views. It's like four
thousand replies, and I'm sure Tigers just he's just leaping
through those looking at him, you know, getting all the
words of encouragement because he needs that, you know. Now
(13:03):
It's amazing. Um, folks, get out there. He's forty two
one odds at the Masters right now. I would I
would hit that really, really hard. It's I do like
to do those things. So I've got two things. Number
one correction, Remember twenty second Ete sixty three is when
Kennedy was assassinated. I apologize. I was a year my
my years off November three. Not the point. The point
is Tiger's back, uh now is he back? Or is
(13:25):
he just just hitting the golf shot again? Is he
just is he just getting getting our excitement up for
no reason? Um? I I have a bet out there
with a with a couple of buddies that he wins
wins a tournament within the next eighteen months. Now, is
that possible? We'll find out hundred dollars on on that bet,
specifically Keith. Does he win in the next eighteen months?
(13:47):
Does he play in the next six months forty two?
One of the Masters that those are that that's even
a little bit low. I think that that's probably two
under one quite frankly. But your your reaction to your thoughts, Um,
Yes he plays in the next six months, Yes he plays. Um,
I'm gonna go out on the limb and say he
(14:07):
plays the Genesis his own tournament in l A, which
is in mid February. M okay to come back in
l A in the city of of the of the accident,
Um one to his tournament three that is a prelude
to the Masters one year removed right from the accident.
(14:28):
He's gonna tee it up in Genesis. That's my call,
because somebody, somebody put that in the vault. Somebody put
that in the vault. Don't lose this tape everybody. This
could be the prognosticator of prognosticators. Keith Stewart as said
it that he will tee it up in the Genesis,
not Keith, but Tiger Woods will see it up in
the Genesis in February. Uh, and that he will be
(14:48):
playing in a tournament within the next six months. Will
he win in eighteen months? Will he win? Oh? Yes, yeah, yeah,
I got news for you. Sam sneed your record. You're
gonna be second. He will win. He will and he's
not getting any younger. So now's the time. And uh,
you know there's horses for courses. He's gonna go to
a Bay Hill, or he's gonna go to a Tory
Pines or a place that he's very comfortable, and he's
(15:10):
gonna win. Could be augusta National in the next year
or two, just could be. I mean, what leads you
to believe or those people you call your friends that
bet against Tiger that they're actually that that he's not
going to do it right? I mean, all he's overcome
in his life couldn't be more. I bet for him,
(15:32):
So why are you yelling at me? I bet he
will win. And that's how confident I am. A hundred dollars,
I mean, that's a lot of money, Keith. That's I
had to move some money around from the savings account
to get that that bet improved, you know what I mean. Yeah,
I mean that's why you're mixing serials. You're at the
bottom of the bag. I get it. You know, it
is what it is. But at the end of the day, folks,
(15:54):
the big Man is back. That's all you need to know.
That's all you need to know. The big Man is back. Wait,
hang on, he's probably eight million views of that video
right now. You know. It's just it's so good to
have Tiger Woods back, and uh, I'm excited, and you know,
think about it, right. I know, it's sad that this
is the last um, you know, sanctioned week and all
(16:14):
of this tournament golf. It was the European Tour Championship,
PGA Tour has taking a break, the LPGA has played
their Tour Championship. We're gonna have a little bit of
time off. Um enjoy thanksgiving everyone. You know, it's great
being with you on sticking ac reacts and I can't
wait to see what we come up with next week,
because there is a little match on Friday, and obviously
(16:36):
Adam is gonna have a reaction to that. I already do.
