Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
What is up straight fireprim It's me Jason McIntyre, Straight
Fayer for Thursday, July the twenty fourth. Oh boy, this
is supposed to be an exciting week. Camp's open. You
got the drama in Cincinnati with Trey Hendrickson in the
first round. Back, You've got some drama in Dallas. I
(00:32):
feel like I'm all talked out on the Cowboys. But
fortunately one of the gifts that keeps on giving on
this podcast over the last couple of years.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Former NFL MVP definitely not a fan of my work.
Cam Newton is doing his best to get embroiled in
controversy in late July. And it's interesting because Cam, you know,
has this podcast business, which you know, congrats on that guy.
You know, that's awesome. He make some money. You know,
(01:06):
Stephen Colbert's TV show just got canceled. He's gonna turn
that into a podcast business instead of a two hundred
person staff and maybe get a dozen people, and he's
gonna he's gonna make a ton of money in podcasting.
And I hope Cam's doing well. You know, it's better
than him like hosting these football camps and getting in
fights with campers. Remember remember that from like two two
years ago, three years ago. But now what he's doing
(01:28):
is trying to pick fights with media members because Cam
knows the secret sauce. If you talk about the media,
the media talks about you. This is a tried and
true old school that still works. Way back when at
the Big Lead it was very easy, Hey, hey, can
you believe this guy said this? And then you tear
(01:49):
them to shreds, rip apart their take, and they pay
attention because you're talking about them. If you're talking about
actual athletes, they're less likely to care. But but Kevin
Durant has certainly cared at times. He's got rabbit ears
and he likes to get in the ring and spar
with anybody. Jabroni's included myself. So this week I guess
(02:13):
Cam Newton took shots at Jalen Hurts, you know, saying
he's not a top ten quarterback. I went off on
Cam and that a couple guys at ESPN did, Ryan
Clark and Dan Orlovsky. And instead of taking apart what
they said, and you know you've lost the argument when
you make it personal, Cam went after Ryan Clark and
(02:37):
Dan Orlofsky as football players. Well, Ryan Clark, you were
second team All SEC. I can't relate to that you
were undrafted. How can I relate to that I was
a number one pick? I was SEC Player of the
Year or whatever it was. But when he was dominant
at Albert, and you know you've lost a debate when
(02:59):
you have to say, oh, well, who cares what you
have to say, Dan Rolofski, you ran out of the
end zone. You weren't even a real NFL quarterback. I mean,
I'm guessing and Rob can probably fact check this. I'm
guessing dani ro Loskiy had less than fifty touchdown passes
in his career, maybe less than fifteen.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
I don't know. I'm just guessing.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
So that's Cam's way of saying, what do you know
about football? And I forget who it was, but somebody
told me that they heard these people arguing about sports
and the guys that, well, you never played, what.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Do you know?
Speaker 2 (03:30):
And he's like, you know, I never fought in World
War One, but I can tell you all about it.
I can tell you everything that happened. Because you know,
there's this thing called history in history books and literature
and anybody can read up on football and get up
to speed. Anybody can look at the advanced stats. If
(03:51):
you guys, you guys a listeners, say, oh, well Cam
Newton was a great football player, Hall of Famer Jmack.
He never played high school football. What does this guy known?
And you want to tune me out because of that?
That's fine. I get that you want to rock with
Cam and his NFL pedigree. I mean, the guy never
had back to back winning seasons as a quarterback. Oh, Jake,
(04:11):
quarterback wins don't mean anything. Okay, Fine, Well he won
an MVP and didn't win a Super Bowl and he
was basically out of the league by thirty thirty two
or thirty three years old. Washed nobody wanted him. And
I know he was an amazing, incredible college football player
for one season. We don't need to talk about why
he didn't last at Florida. I mean, you guys can
(04:32):
dig into that if you want, but I don't. I'm
not at the phase in my career where I put
these athletes on pedestals. Yeah, everybody did that when they
were a kid. You know, Oh, this guy's amazing, and
I will admit working at Fox, Tom Brady walks in
the room and you're like, that's the freaking goat. The
way he carries himself, the way he breaks down football plays,
(04:54):
the way he knows the stats and the data. That
stuff matters. If you want to just go out there
and tell stories about well, I remember the SEC championship game. Yeah,
well I played in that. You didn't, so you wouldn't know.
You know, that's fine. You could do that and your
audience will rock with you. And trust me, there are
Cam Newton fan boys dating back to his early days.
(05:14):
I still remember Cam's first game with the Carolina Panthers.
It was against the Arizona Cardinals and he put up
ridiculous numbers. You could just see like, oh, I love
this guy. He hit the dab, he was doing Superman celebrations.
I was a Cam Newton fan as a young guy
watching him perform. Well, but now we're, you know, deep
(05:37):
into the Internet age. There's this thing called chat GPT.
They're the research is out there, guys, you can do it.
Cam Newton was not an amazing quarterback as an NFL player.
He had high, super high moments, but his lows were like, oh, well,
where's the where's the completion percentage? And oh yeah, he
(05:59):
was a good running quarterback. But maybe that's why his
career didn't go into his deep thirties because he took
a lot of hits. Maybe if he would have won
from the pocket, Well, could he win from the pocket?
I don't know what if he jumps on a fumble
in the Super Bowl, like we could do this forever
on Cam. He ain't gonna make the Hall of Fame guys.
And if Cam's argument is, well, why should I listen
(06:21):
to these guys? They didn't accomplish what I did? Are
we doing that? Are we gonna say, hey, no more
announcers who aren't in the Hall of Fame because you
know what, these were not amazing. I'm sorry, guy who
does red zone? You gotta Scott Hansen. You're out of there, buddy.
You didn't play in the NFL. We gotta get somebody
who play in the NFL. It's just annoying and disappointing. Now,
(06:43):
I will say this, obviously, I'm not like picking a
fight with Cam Newton. I'm just picking apart what he said.
And Rob knows this. I've told Rob before. But a
couple of years ago at the Super Bowl. After my
first squabble with Cam, Sean McCoy came up to me
a Fox and was like, Yo, you really tick Cam
Newton off. I was like, why, He's like, dude, he
cornered me in his VIP Sectionally's like, what's up with
(07:04):
your boy j Mack and the way she Lashawn McCoy's
selling it and lash McCoy super nice guy. He's like, listen, man.
Cam is a big dude. He's six five, two fifty
and when he's like kind of not in your face
but explaining it and getting heated, I was like, oh,
I gotta tell my boy j Mac to diala down.
And I'm like, I'm not attacking his character. I'm not
(07:25):
saying he's a bad human being. Obviously, he was a
great quarterback for moments. He had an incredible season where
he was the MVP. But when I first said that
Dak Prescott has had a better career than Cam Newton, man,
that's what really set him off. And again, we could
compare numbers all day. If you believe the sun rises
(07:45):
and sets with the numbers, it's Dak over Cam. If
you want to believe highlight plays and MVP Award five.
Go ahead, Dak's your guy. Cam is your guy. But
I'm just telling you Dak had a better career than
Jalen Hurts. And for Cam to not put Jalen Hurts
(08:06):
in the top ten, it just shows how insecure he
is about his standing. This is very Charles Barkley ish. Again,
Charles Barkley would take massive dumps on the modern era,
the Steph Curries of the world. Oh, they're just jump shooting,
They're not he and he would essentially say they're nothing
compared to our era. They're soft. All these guys want
(08:27):
to team up, and he just he didn't understand that
that was actually the golden age of basketball with the
super teams in the two thousand and tens. If you will,
I mean it was. We're gonna look back at that
and be like, man, I miss those loaded Warriors teams
and players joining forces in the offseas. That was so
(08:48):
fun and exciting and thrilling. And now we get Miles
Turner to the Bucks and the NBA again. Schams was
hyping the hell out of this offseason. It's gonna be crazy,
It's gonna be bonkers. It was the snows Fest nobody's
teaming up. And it's like the NBA kind of sort
of killed the idea of superstars joining forces because the
(09:11):
owners didn't want that. And I don't know, I'm kind
of rambling now, Rob, but it's just disappointing to you know, again,
if Cam had guys in his ear who I don't
know would actually challenge him and be like, you know,
this is what the numbers say, Cam, but nobody wants that.
People are afraid to hear the truth that what their
opinion is is it wrong? And I don't know. Again,
(09:33):
I don't want to start no war wars with Kim.
It's just disappointed, Like, oh, Danie Rolotsky, your your opinion
doesn't matter, Rob. Do you remember when you pitch me
Dani Rolofski to come on the radio show.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
I do.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
I don't know. I was like dan Orlovski, really, you're
like he's good, trust me. I was like, all right,
I trust you.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
We had him on.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
I was like, oh, I think he did one segment
and then within like six months he was at ESPN
or something or something like that. Like you have an
eye for that talent and like the idea we would
dismiss Daneroloski because he doesn't have a great career. I
think it's juvenile and embarrassing.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Yeah, it's asinin. And he just got to go through
the list of great coaches like Bill Belichick did not
play in the NFL, Phil Jackson was a bit player
in the NBA. Like that, Like, you don't have to
worry about that kind of stuff. Some of the best analysts,
if you want to stay coaches, the best analysts in
all of sports were not great players right Like, for
my money, the best guy out right now is Tim Legler.
(10:39):
Tim Legler was an okay NBA player. I think he
was a very good shooter. But to say that he
was one of the greatest players or a great player
in his air, no, he wasn't. He's just he was
a solid guy. But it was a high level contributor.
But in terms of communicating the game and dissecting the game,
there are a few guys that are out there better
than him right now. For my money, As far as
(10:59):
this Cam Newton situation goes the running quote that everybody's
running with this week, and you mentioned it with the Orlowski,
Ryank Clark Jalen Hurts conversation is from Cam quote. The
common thing I've heard this past week is Cam, You're
just mad that Jalen Hurts has what you don't. Should
I go down the list of things that I have
that Jalen doesn't talk about the point, don't talk about
the pointer, which to me says everything you need to
(11:22):
know about Cam Newton, right. Cam Newton also said famously
back in January, Hey, Cam, if you could trade in
your MVP for a Super Bowl, would you do it?
Speaker 2 (11:34):
No?
Speaker 3 (11:35):
I would not. And that's Cam Newton in a nutshe
And quite frankly, that's a lot of athletes in a nutshell.
Oh you know, you know, j Max having been in
this business for as long as you have, and Ben
is around as many former athletes as you have been,
as uncomfortable as it is for most fans to hear
a lot of them, I would even venture you just
say most of them. Winning is not the top priority.
(11:59):
It's making money, generational wealth, being famous and becoming you know,
an icon, or having these accolades attached to your name,
where I was a Pro Bowl, I was an All Star,
I was an MVP, I was a scoring champion, whatever
it is, like, that's what they play for because to
most of them, this is still a job, and it's
(12:20):
about how can I be the best performer at my job.
I just happened to be six five, two fifty with
the rocket arm and I could run a voor six
forty right. But it's not any different than guys who
are like, Hey, I want to be the top salesman
at my company because number one, if you feel good.
Number two, I get a nice bonus at the end.
But it's not because I want the company to do well,
(12:40):
Like that's not really what I'm caring about. And a
guy like Jalen Hurts, who I've been down on for
a couple of years now, we've listened to the podcast
you know this. I've always believed that Jalen Hurts was
very quietly a big problem in Philadelphia because I thought
that he believed that he was a Joe Burrow, a
Lamar Jack and Patrick Mahomes Josh Allen type where it's like, hey,
(13:03):
put the game on my back and I'm gonna win
it for us. Watch what I can do with my
right arm. And we saw that play out in twenty
twenty three where there was this war of words and
this power struggle between him and Sirianni. Sirianni wanted to
stick with got him there, ground and pound, run the football,
and Jalen Hurst and his offensive corner, which was his
buddy from back in the day, thought they wanted to
(13:23):
throw the ball over the yard. Obviously I didn't go well,
Nick Sirianni almost got fired and it changed everything to
a point where they had to go back to what
got them there and they won a Super Bowl. So
on Wednesday, Jalen Hurst meets with the media. They ask him, Hey,
do you want the offense to open up now that
(13:44):
you want a Super Bowl? You were Super Bowl MVP.
You bawled out in the biggest game of the year.
And this is the difference between Jalen Hurst and Cam Newton.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
No.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Jalen Hurst says, I've went a very long time being
told I got to do a certain time of way
that didn't get me the win. When I did how
everybody told me to. When you put so much energy
in a personal performance, you lose sight of the main thing,
which is winning. Like that's ultimately what it boiled down
to Cam Newton for all of his physical gifts and
(14:14):
his accomplishments which he has. You know, the BCS championship
has got that MVP at a magical season. Look at
his quarterback win loss record year to year. Never had
back to back winning season. Yeah, he had three great
years twenty thirteen, twenty fifteen, twenty seventeen. Outside of that
(14:36):
lot of mid lot of mediocre. Never threw from more
yards they did. As a rookie, right, he was consistently
a sub sixty percent passer in an era where it's
easier to pass than it's ever been. Well maybe now
compared to then, obviously, but at the time it was
the easiest it ever been. The threshold was are you
hitting sixty sixty two sixty four? Hell Drew Brees was
(14:58):
hitting in seventy some years complete of percentage. Cam never
hit over.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Sixty and he could come, wait, Rob, he could counter with, well,
that's I had to work with the offense that I had,
you know, my offensive court at that squod he wanted,
and I never had wide receivers like Drew Bees. I
didn't have on Michael Thomas. You know that that would
my guess is that would be his argument.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
He also had Greg Olsen.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
He did have Greg Goldson. I don't know if he's
a Hall of Famer he had really I mean he's.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Mike Smith, he might be. Steve Smith was great, you know,
Mussie Muhammad was good at his time, right like they
had They had a great They had a great running
game and a fantastic defense, similarly to what Jalen Hurts
is working with right now at the time, or you
know before this last season when he had a j
Brown about they Smith, I'm popping off. They were a
great running game and a great defense. He did what
he had to do to win. And Cam Newton for
(15:46):
whatever reason, I can't explain it why, Like he was
more concerned with being superman and doing things his way
and it wasn't always about the team and and lessening
you know what he does to help team win. It
was Cam's got to get the ball on third and
short every play. Cam's got to have big body, wide
receivers because that's what he likes to throw to. Cam
(16:07):
doesn't want to run a West Coast offense. He wants
to do play action pack like that, that's not necessarily
what they needed to win. And Jalen Hurts has shown
and has evolved just in the last year and a
half where he's like, Hey, if you want me to
hand the ball off thirty five times a game, cool,
no problem. If you want me to bush a brotherly
(16:29):
shove seven times a game, no problem. But in the
moments where you need a little bit more like in
the Super Bowl against Patrick Mahomes, and you need me
to ball out and outperform, and maybe they believe is
the best quarterback in football, maybe the best quarterback ever.
Oh yeah, I can do that too. And there's just
they're different breeds of guys. And I think it's been obvious.
It's been apparent, more so this week than ever before.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
You know, it just annoys me that everybody gives Cam
so much rope because he was a number one overall pick.
How about this. I saw that Philip Rivers officially retired
as a Charger. Who do you think had the better
NFL career, Philip Rivers or Cam Newton?
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Oh, Philip Rivers.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
I mean it's not even close when you look at
the numbers. I mean it's like Miles apart. What about
Matt Ryan or Cam Newton.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Matt Ryan.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Again, Cam is gonna get upset hearing this, and I
get that. I totally understand that. But you know, I
guess to your point about would you rather win or
make money or be a role player or whatever. I'm
gonna mention the name Shane Battier, who won a lot
of duke just a pure winner, realized when he got
to the pros. Oh, well, you know, I was the
(17:44):
ACC Player of the Year, first Team All ACC. I
was a high school legend. Blah blah blah, All American
in college. Yeah, these guys are way good. I need
to find my niche carved out. I'm gonna be a
defensive stopper. I'm gonna be an analytics guy. Wins two
championship with the Heat, but he doesn't have one of these, like, Oh,
Shane Battier Hall of Famer?
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Probably not.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Do you think Shane Battier cares? No? But Shane Battier
is not like in the media talking all kinds of mess.
You know, I think he got it, Like, Hey, I
was a really high level college player. I was a
good pro, but I was a role player and I'm totally.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Happy with that.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
And it's you know, obviously Cam Newton a superstar, a
franchise quarterback, but unfortunately his career just he he did
not dominate. He just was lack of consistency.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Whose career do you think was better?
Speaker 2 (18:35):
Now, this is tough crossing sports Rob Charles Barkley who
won an MVP, got to the finals and lost, or
Cam Newton.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Charles Barkley. Even I don't even think that's tough because
Charles had a consistent greatness for an extended period of time,
like Cam Newton is one of those guys. And this
is a bad comparison because one guy's obviously better than
the other. But Steph Curry is in this range right now.
And we saw with the Bleacher report of ranking that
(19:05):
came out last week. I know you saw it where
they ranked him at ten ahead of Kobe and what
Kobe eleven, and so what I had said, and I
think of media have gotten into it before. When you
break down resume for resume, Steph Curry does not stack
up with the top five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten
players in the NBAH. I think he's somewhere like between
(19:25):
ten and thirteen. But if you want to say, oh,
he's in the greatest of all time conversation or even
in the top five seven, like good luck, because his
resume just does not stack up, point blank, period. But
the reason why people will flippantly throw his name out
there like Shaq has done, is because of the way
he makes you feel. And it's like, man, the way
(19:47):
Steph Curry does, like I've never seen anything like that.
It's just's he's awesome. He's obviously he's clearly the greatest shooter,
but he must be one of the greatest players or
the greatest player in that conversation of all time. And
it's like yeah. But then you look at it's like, oh, well,
you know his own I think he's only been All
NBA First Team like three times, and you know, he's
never been an All defensive player, and it's like, oh, well,
(20:07):
I guess he doesn't really match up with guys like
Bird and Magic and Kobe and so on and so forth.
Cam Newton. The way he makes you feel when you
watch the highlights, You're like, god, damn, like that big
old monster running through guys doing the Superman Cape thing
over there in the ends. I'm like, that's cool. That's fun,
it's great, and then you really dive deep and you're like, oh, well,
he Cam Newton only made the Pro Bowl? What is
(20:30):
this three times?
Speaker 2 (20:32):
You know?
Speaker 1 (20:32):
But Ron, don't forget about diving over the top.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
How about this one.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
I just looked this up. I will give you three guesses.
What do you think his playoff career record is? And
I know wins and losses don't define quarterbacks. And Aaron
Rodgers I think is like five hundred or below five
hundred is a playoff quarterback. But I'm just just in
the postseason. Let's have a gander at Cam's record.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Okay, so he had to have won at least two
to make the Super Bowl. Yep, I'm gonna guess he
is two and four.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Close, okay, three and four for his career in the playoffs,
three and four, like Lamar's passed him, rock Perties passed him.
Jalen Hurst. I think Jaylor RD has his six playoff wins.
Cam completed fifty nine percent in seven playoff games. Now, obviously,
(21:26):
the playoffs are where you can't hide anymore, right, I mean, like, listen,
this is when you're facing the best of the best.
And I know, you know the counter would be, well,
he faced that Denver defense. Come on, man, that Denver
defense in the Super Bowl. That was historic stuff. Okay, sure,
he played a lot of other playoff games and rob
three playoff wins in your career.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
By the way, can I just I know you didn't
mean to say like this, but I hate that idea
that they say quarter wins or not a quarterback stat.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Well, it's a team game, and you know Voa so
so he fenser special team.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
I don't want get bogged down. I think it's get
to I'll just put it to it simply like this.
Tom Brady is viewed as the greatest of all time,
not because of the way he throws the football, not
because of his stats, not because of his quarterback rating.
It's because he wins games. Yeah, so then why is
it that the greatest of all time Tom Brady is
only the greatest because he wins? But wins are not
(22:19):
a quarterback stat. Well, he wins super bowls too, But
that's what I'm saying. Like it's I feel like, if
we're gonna say who's the best quarterback we've ever seen,
it's like, well, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, you know some
people said Dan Marino, like just the way they play
at the position, but they didn't win at the level
that Tom Brady is. So they mentioned in that conversation
that's just like Pet Peeve, Trent.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Dilfer and I know he's more of a bus driver
five and one in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Jake Dellome that Jake delow Man legend.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Five and three in the playoffs, Mark Brunell five and five,
Matt has Back five and six, Rivers five and seven.
Mark Sanchez has more career playoff wins than Cam Newton.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
Shout out to the Sanchiz.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Two of those were in they were all in back
to back years where they went to the AFC Championship game.
Poys Big Dick, Nick Foles four and two in the playoffs,
Garoppolo four and two, Purty four and two again. Cam
Newton has three playoff wins. Here's who he's tied with.
Some of these guys are so old, I'm not even
gonna mention their names. Boomerisias and three. Jay Schroeder probably
(23:32):
before you were born, Rob Tony Easton of the Patriots,
Mike tom Zach three playoff wins is like, that's nothing
special at all, that's three more than just Hurberts, Dan Fouts,
well again, just Neil O'Donnell, Kerry I mean again.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Carrie Collins.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
He has as many as Kerry Collins.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Collins had one with the Panthers, two with the Giants,
zero oh and one with the title.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
KFC carry fucking Collins has as many playoffs wins as
Cam Newton.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Yeah, I mean Lamar has three? Did I say Lamar
has more? I'm sorry Lamar's at three, but Lamar will
obviously pass him. I just again, you have three playoff
wins and you're out here, chirpin.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Anyways, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup

Speaker 2 (24:22):
We could wrap up with this. We don't even need
to go along. I don't love this topic, but Jeff Tigue,
who low key, has one of the best NBA podcasts
out there. It's mostly because he has free reign to
say everything that's inappropriate under the sun, and there's no
penalties to be paid. I can't just sit out here
saying stuff that I you know, that's inappropriate and out
(24:42):
of pocket because I'll, you know, lose my job. Jeff
Tigue has nobody to answer to, so he's just saying
whatever pops off. So of course Jeff Tigue has this
long leash to say whatever the hell he wants. And
then he comes out and was like, oh, yeah, Lebron
was doing steroids within what rob two hours three from
like we can't did it? And so I was joking.
(25:05):
I mean, obviously he's not the first athlete to mention this.
I just hate it as a topic because it's like, Okay,
what evidence do you have, Well, well, they were on
the same team, okay, and is that what else you got?
You know, it's just disappointing that people keep doing. I
think it's like an easy thing to just say flippantly.
(25:26):
And if Lebron were re litigious, like say, I don't know,
an elected official, maybe he would just sue Jeff t
and say, hey, you've got to prove that in court
because this is damaging my reputation. And I don't think
I don't I don't appreciate that now Lebron won't do that,
and yeah, I know the process of well was he
using steroids? Sure, okay, you can go back probably ten
(25:50):
years ago with the heat. Sure, go back, let me
see what you can find out, you know, and we
could dig. You can dig as deep as you want.
I'm not saying Lebron's perfect. All I know is this
Rob Lebron's been on the spotlight since like junior year
of high school, where he was on the cover of
Sports Illustrated. To the best of my knowledge, and again,
(26:10):
I know people, I trust me. People always say, oh
Lebron man, that guys, he's got so much stuff going
on in different cities. To the best of my knowledge,
he's been a family man. He has not been in
trouble with the law. He's not gone sideways like I
don't know fifty percent of child prodigies.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
I don't think Lebron was doing steroids. I mean we've
seen his I mean his body at like twenty two,
he was chiseled and then he just you know, as
you get older, hell, hello, news flash, you get older,
you gain weight and get stronger. I don't know. I'm
very dubious that Lebron was doing steroids, you know, again,
other stuff like creatine that works. I'm not gonna lie,
(26:53):
I'm and again I'm no Lebron a couple of cycles,
but when you do creatine, the impact is pretty quick
and I have people asking me all the time, dude,
what are you on? Come on, hgh, it has to
be I'm like no, And obviously I have dark skin
so that kind of impacts things. But yeah, I don't think.
I mean, maybe Rob has a better take. I just
(27:14):
don't see Lebron sitting there juicing up using roids, knowing
that that stuff can have an adverse effect on your body.
And sure there are positives, but there are a slew
of negatives. I can't imagine that Lebron would be taking
that risk based on everything I've read and heard about him.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
I'm sorry, that's just my takeaway.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
I'll tell you what. After Lance Armstrong, nothing would surprise
me anymore. Like I don't think he did, but if
I found out later that he did, I would not
be shocked by it. Because we had a guy who
on the Tour de France with cancer and one destical
and was like his entire brand was how you can
persevere through anything, and this whole time we found out
he was using the Royds. So like, after that, nothing
(27:58):
would surprise me. Also, if you want to dive. There
have been numerous links between Lebron, James, and Balco. ESPN
reported that one the UFC fighter kl Sonin has gone
on record saying he's that Lebron's on steroids, and Jeff
Tigue during his initial podcast, went into great detail. He's like, hey,
you remember he left for a week and then he
(28:19):
came back, you know, during the crackdown and came back
real skinny, and all of a sudden he finished out
the rest of the year and it was just real,
you know, he was on each like, it was very specific.
The details that he gave did not seem like I'm
just joking around type of thing right.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
Now.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Again, even with all that circumstantial eleven is, nothing has
ever stuck to him. So I would tend to believe
that Lebron did not take steroids. I would tend to
believe that he may have done something like you know,
he may be because he has so much money and
so much access. He is at the forefront of a
lot of medical advances, similar to the way Kobe Bryant
was during his heyday. I believe he was the first
(28:58):
like recognized able American athlete who was getting blood spinning done.
If you remember back in the day, he was flying
to Germany on his own time to get the blood
spun and that's put tops of recovery and now it's
more common, but at the time that was like a
revolutionary idea. So I believe that maybe Lebron does know
things or you know, supplements that would help him in
(29:20):
a way that we just don't know about. Having said
all of that, what I think the lesson here to
be had for anybody who's listening to this podcast or
wants to have their own podcast. You have a lot
of aspiring reporters and opinionists who listens to this show.
Jeff Te learned the hard way that just because you
have a podcast doesn't give you the right to just
(29:40):
say anything. That sometimes having a opinion on something can
have legitimate, real world consequences. Because if you go on
record and say, hey, I don't think Lebron James is
a good player, I don't think Lebron's a top ten guy.
I don't think he's in the goat conversation. That's an opinion.
Say whatever the hell you want, no matter how crazy
(30:02):
it might sound. But if you come out and say
on Wax that, yeah, you know Lebron was on steroids
back in Miami, Like, come on, bro, we know he was,
and you say that and you can't prove it. Not
only do you lead yourself, oh, but the litigation number
one number two, you can be out of a job quickly.
Like now, obviously this is not gonna happen to Jeft
(30:22):
because he says, hey, I was just playing around and
he has a good thing going there with the I
think it's with the volume. So they're not gonna worry about.
This is all gonna blow over by the time this
podcast drops on Thursday morning whenever you listen to it.
But let this be a lesson to you, Like, I
know you feel good with the microphone in front of
your face, but you can't just pop off about anything
(30:42):
and anybody anytime you want to. It doesn't work like that.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Yeah, we gotta be careful, you know, or you Rob
has to be careful. Rob.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Have you've been sued?
Speaker 3 (30:51):
No, they were actually yes, small claims, but nothing like boh.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Oh oh I think you told me. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I have not. People have threatened, but they hasn't happened.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
A lot of tough.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
Talkers out there about sue your ass. Okay, you know
what litigation is like, right, It's not fun. Yeah, lawyer
up a lot of work. I don't think Jef t
Ones that smoked. Hence the quick apology. All right, we
are back tomorrow. I don't know I saw these Tua comments.
We may talk about those. Tua and Tyreek Hill. It
sounds like Tyreek Hill is like not liked in that
Miami locker room. Avoid him in fantasy. Anyways, back tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
See that
