Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is Straight Fire with Jason McIntire.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
What is up straight Fire Fame. It's me Jason McIntyre,
Straight Fire for Friday, August the twenty ninth. Boy, it
has been a crazy week. I mean, oh my gosh,
so much happening. And then of course the bomb drops,
(00:31):
a nuclear bomb drops on the NFL. On Thursday, Michael
Parsons traded from the Cowboys, Oh dear, oh dear, to
the Green Bay Packers. So there's a lot here. First,
let me just mentioned we have a great podcast today
with fantasy god gawd Evan Silva from his website established
(00:53):
the Run. If you're not using Evan, well you're missing out.
The guy's good. You're gonna love this stuff today. Okay,
we'll get to Evan in a minute. Just let me
riff on Parsons for sac So I just want to
rattle off the last let's see one, two, three, four
or five six. So the last six times the Dallas
(01:14):
Cowboys have been in the playoffs. Here are their losses.
The last time they were in the playoffs, Oh that's right,
they lost it home to the Green Bay Packers forty
eight thirty two. Then the lost of the year before
that was to the Niners nineteen twelve. Everybody remembers that. Obviously.
The year before that was the devastating Dak Prescott ran
(01:35):
out of timeouts, they lose to the Niners, So you
lose Packers, Niners, Niners. Then they lost to the Rams
thirty twenty two. That was the game with the Rams
rush for like two hundred and fifty yards. The year
before that lost to the Packers thirty four to thirty one.
Aaron Rodgers drawing up a play in the dirt. Oh,
by the way, that was in Dallas as well. And
then the year before that was the des Bryant caught it,
but they ruled no catch. We don't know what it catches.
(01:58):
So three of day Dallas' last six playoff losses are
to the Green Bay Packers, and the Dallas Cowboys just
went and traded their best defensive player, you could argue
their best or second best overall player to the Green
Bay Packers, the team that has continued to confound them
(02:20):
in the playoffs. What this is a funny, funny thing
I saw on ig Jerry Jones trading his best player
because he didn't respect a handshake deal like a railroad
salesman from eighteen seventy three. Listen, I know Cowboys fans
are like, well, we don't have to pay him forty
seven million dollars a year. Oh okay, and is that salary?
(02:42):
And say, yeah, it is. I need to see the details.
As always, the devil is in the details. Dallas gets
in return the Packers' first round pick twenty six and
twenty seven, an aging defensive tackle who will add to
the Cowboys front no doubt. But the reality is like
they lose Michael Parsons, their best pass rusher by a mile.
(03:06):
The Green Bay Packers now have Micah Parsons opposite Rashaan Gary. Now,
Gary was drafted in the first round, Michigan guy. He
had a couple really good years and then he hasn't
been as amazing the last couple of years. I'll tell
you right now. They you can't double team anybody on
that defensive line or you or you're gonna get totally screwed.
(03:27):
They have excellent linebackers. Kay Walker out of Georgia is excellent.
And who's the other guy? The kid Edge Cooper from
Texas A and m really showed well last year. So
this Packer's defense remember they lost their top cornerback, so
they need to develop more of a pass rush. They've
got a really good safety and Xavier McKinney, the kid
(03:48):
out of Alabama. This is going to be an excellent defense.
If you remember, when Ta was on the pod in
early August, his pick to come out of the NFC
was Green Bay. That was before the acquis position of
a top four defensive edge rusher. Folks, the Packers are
going to be really freaking good this year, and if
(04:11):
you put.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Money on them.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
When Ta said he likes the Packers in the Super Bowl, great,
I'm the moron who, for some reason, I have all
these tickets about futures Super Bowl X versus Y. I don't.
I just checked. I don't have one with the Packers
in it. That's just brook City. I gotta be honest, like, Okay, sure,
Dallas Scott an you know, two ones and a player wonderful,
(04:35):
But what's their upside? They're not going anywhere anytime soon.
First of all, they're not even great this year. Maybe
they win some shootouts because Lamb's healthy, Dack's healthy, and
Pickens keeps his head in line because he's playing for
a contract. But the reality is the Green Bay Packers
got really, really good. They're all in right now if
Jordan Love can stay upright, I think Lafleur has a
(04:57):
potential super Bowl team in the Green At Packers. And
you know, Ceedee Lamb was not happy on social media
about losing Michael Parsons. I don't see how anybody in
Dallas could be. I got a buddy who texted me,
I'm crying over here, and I said why and he
goes Michaeh Parsons got traded because Jerry Jones is a moron.
(05:19):
And essentially, Jerry Jones like got in a spat, couldn't
get over it, crashed out and traded him. I mean,
this kind of spiraled fast now. According to Micah Parsons,
his after the the rumor about the trade leaked that
the Cowboys were looking to trade him and maybe the
(05:40):
Packers were interested Michah Parsons. According to Jane Slater, who's
covered the Cowboys forever, she spoke to Micah and according
to Jane Slater, Micah and his agent went to the
Cowboys about an extension with quote empathy. The Cowboys response,
according to Parsons, was play on the fifth year or leave.
(06:03):
I mean, I find that very hard to believe that
the Cowboys would be so short sighted to say play
on your fifth year or leave. I don't know, guys,
I mean, listen, I don't want to make this political
and say that, you know, Jerry sees a certain guy
and the president just popping off us constantly on social
media and just doing whatever the hell he wants and
(06:23):
saying whatever, Like, you can't do that as an NFL owner. Okay,
Jerry Stepp didn't here, and yeah, they don't have to
pay Micael wonderful. But if they had traded him a
year ago when I said get rid of Micah, then
you get a haul, you know, maybe then you get
a bidding war started. Who were the Packers bidding against you?
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Like?
Speaker 2 (06:43):
That's bad business for such a good businessman? How was
this good business? You didn't try to play I don't know,
the Bengals against the Packers against this? You don't want
to get him out of the conference of the AFC.
I just I just think Jerry bungled this. But then again,
I'm known as a hater. Anyways, without further ado, let's
get to our guest. Establish the run Fantasy football legend,
(07:04):
Evan Silva.

he knows everything when it comes to sports. I know
what sports fans want, but for everything he doesn't. He
(07:28):
knows a guy who does.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Let's just say, I know a guy who knows the
guy who knows another guy. All right, let's welcome back
to straight Fire, one of the fantasy legends in the industry.
Everybody has their drafts coming up either this weekend next week.
We are inside a week to play to the start
of the NFL season. Everybody stoked, so Evansilva joining us.
(07:50):
He is I mean, honestly, he is one of the
harder workers. And I love the fact that this fantasy
guy is in Chicago. Sees one one of my takes
on Caleb Williams and the Chicago people are like, bro,
you're an idiot. While you are, it's just they're killing me.
And here's mister established the run firing dude. I love
(08:13):
this take, So tell me are you where are you
on the Bears.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
I mean, I'm really on the fence. I think that
anyone that pretends like they know exactly how this is
going to go is not being truthful. I mean, the
situation is not fixed. They don't even know who their
starting left tackle is at this point. You know, a
brand new offense and it's a complex offense. And Ben
(08:39):
Johnson is trying to get Caleb Williams to play under center,
and he's never played under center, like almost in his
entire football playing career. They don't have, you know, a
true feature back on offense. They've got a ton of
injuries in the secondary. Jalen Johnson is questionable for Week one.
They don't even know for sure who the number two
(09:00):
corner is going to be. It's easy to build a case,
a skeptical case about the Chicago Bears for twenty twenty five.
There's so much optimism about him in this city. And
I just I'm not gonna say that your take was right.
You lit the Internet on fire with your take about
Caleb Williams, But I mean I kind of understand what
you're saying. I mean, you were not entirely off base.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Well, thank you for that. It just feels like Ben
is trying to totally fix Caleb. And remember he was
a backyard football guys. Final year at USC, he was
a backyard football guy. Last year in the NFL, took
sixty eight sacks. So two years of basically, hey man,
run around and make us plays all of a sudden,
that's going to be fixed quickly. I don't And Ben
(09:45):
Johnson's never been a head coach, but it's not like
he can only focus on the quarterback. He's got a
lot of shit to do.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Yeah, Ben Johnson is the kind of guy rightfully, So,
I mean he's got a great offense or great offensive
system once his quarterback to execut his system. Thinking about
Jared Golf, it's like the ultimate system quarterback, you know,
where it's Caleb Williams. His whole career has been built
on making plays outside of the system, outside of the structure.
(10:12):
So I mean, you can see a lot of ways
that this could go south. They also did extend Tyson Beijing.
There's someone promising backup before the season, you know, showing
some faith in him. There by is in Week five.
I think that these first four games are going to
be really really interesting.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Odds that he's benched before Halloween for Tyson Beaje, and I.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Still got to go pretty low. I mean I'll do
ten percent.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, okay, that's that's not nothing. All right, let's get
to fantasy. I forget who was on, but somebody basically
said b Jhon Robinson has to go number one. I'm
just curious, and I know this is granular, but they've
got some offensive line issues suddenly right back done for
the season. Does Bjon still go number one overall for you?
Speaker 3 (11:01):
No? He is number two overall for me, and I
could see taking Jamar Chase or Ceedee Lamb over him.
I have Jamior Gibbs as the number one overall player
this year. This offensive line situation for Atlanta, it happened
really late in the process, and it is major Caleb
McGarry who's the buckle starting right tackle. But because Michael
(11:23):
Penix is left handed, is really the blind side tackle
for Michael Pennix is out for the year and his
backup Storm Norton.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Oh no, just underwent.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Ankle surgery in the sideline four to eight weeks.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Well, he was terrible with the Chargers anyway.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Oh listen, he's not good, but he is the backup.
But I mean, now we're digging into guys that are
even below him on the depth chart, so it's kind
of a terrifying situation all of a sudden. Kayleb mcgeary
also was a great run blocker, which hurts Bjonre. I mean, look,
at the end of the day, we want touches in
fantasy football, and Bjohn Robinson is really talented, very good
(12:03):
in the passing game. He's gonna get a ton of touches.
He's gonna be good in fantasy. But yeah, I mean
I'm a little bit more concerned, Like we took away
some points from the Falcons offensive projection when Caleb McGarry
and Swilart went out.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Not ideal. Now I did it. I thought I heard
you say Chase or Lamb as the number one overall.
So Lamb needs to make way now for Pickens, who
we know is going to be like the downfield threat,
and he's playing for a contract, so he's going to
be incentivized to be like Dak hook me up. And
then you know what about Justin Jefferson. He's really the
(12:40):
only guy. I guess Adam Delon is there now. Addison
suspended for a minute but he's dealing with the rookie
quarterback right, So by does it make sense to have
Chase as your number one overall? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
I have Gibbs as number one overall.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Oh Gibbs, Okay, I'll.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Just tell you exactly what my top six are, because
I have like a tier of six players, and it
is Gibbs at one, it is Vijon at two, it
is Chase at three, Ceedee Lamb at four. Those guys
are interchangeable to me, Saquan at five, and then Justin
Jefferson at six, and then I think you can start
talking about Christian McCaffrey. Yeah, I mean Ceedee Lamb. The
(13:17):
last time that Dak Prescott played a full season in
twenty twenty three, Ceedee Lamb at one hundred and thirty
five catches and was the number one overall fantasy receiver.
And I think that George fit and I think the
Cowboys are gonna throw the crap out of the ball
this year. They don't have a Pieter back on their roster.
Their defense is gonna give up a ton of points.
(13:38):
So they're gonna they play in at you know, they
play indoors. Ceedee Lam's gonna have an absolute monster season.
I think he's got as good a chance as anyone
to be the number one overall scoring player in fantasy,
not just receiver.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Hm. I I guess Chase to me is I love
that call because they have no defense whatsoever, and you
know they're gonna always be chucking and ducking with Burrow.
I am curious about Saquon. You have him at five.
He's coming off a historically great season. But he had
three hundred and seventy eight touches. Now. I know that
(14:12):
the magic number used to be three seventy and that
could be archaic, but that might have been just rushes.
But three seventy eight is a massive number. And don't
forget he had postseason touches as well. I mean, do
you see the Eagles maybe pulling back a little to
save him and using Will Shipley a little more?
Speaker 3 (14:28):
He uning the playoffs. Sekwon Barkley had four hundred and
eighty two touches last year, And if you go back
and watch the Super Bowl, like Sekwon Barkley didn't look
very good in the Super Bowl, So I you know,
I wonder and I remember that one year that DeMarco
Murray had a million touches for Dallas and IF and
I went back and watched his like late season games,
(14:49):
and he just looked at of gas. And then they
let him go and he went to the Titans, and
he was out of gas, you know. And I think
that they might scale Saquon Barkley back a little bit,
but I'm just worried about him breaking down physically. I mean,
he's not a guy who has a clean injury history.
(15:10):
Number one. Number two Jamiir Gibbs. So, Jamir Gibbs and
Jon Robinson were both they were born like a month
or two apart. They are both almost exactly five years
younger than Saquon Barkley.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
So I mean they're you know, like I'm going with
the guys who are a half decade younger and aren't
coming off this monumental historical workload type of season. I'm
betting on the I still I saw draft Saquon Barkley
when I'm drafted to fit, and I still even follow
to six because people are aware of this workload stuff.
But I'm taking Jon Robinson and Jamier Gifts over Amandez
(15:47):
two receivers Jamar Chase and Seeland.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
So is it clear at this point that Gibbs and
Montgomery are not thunder and lightning. It's really Gibbs six
seventy percent, Montgomery thirty percent.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Well, you know, there's a new guy calling the shots,
you know in Detroit, and I think, you know, one
of the things that Ben Johnson did is he really
got everybody involved. He's really good about that. I mean,
they could do whatever they wanted because their offensive line,
their offensive line looks like it can take a step back.
They could do whatever they wanted. They kept two running
backs involved. You know, they got Jamison Williams, they got
(16:23):
Amon Ross saying brown. Tim Patrick would have his moments.
They used two tight end sets at one of the
highest rates in the league. They would you know, they
were throwing h they were like throwing touchdown passes to
that backup offensive tackle you know who, by the way,
got cut end of end of the end of the
(16:43):
Ben Johnson era. That was kind of like a signature
end of the the Ben Johnson ara. I just think
that the new guy, John Orton is gonna go with
the most talented players and at the end of the day,
like he's gonna lean on Jamior gibb I also think
that the Lions are not gonna win fifteen games games.
This is one of the takes that I like that
you had. That you also set the internet on fire
(17:04):
because I fat the Lions and not make the playoffs
at plus one eighty and that was one of your
hot takes that you fired off. So, I mean, I
still think that they'll be like a ten win team,
but they're not going to be dominant, and they're going
to be in more competitive games, and that's I mean,
they're gonna want to play their best players, and that's
your mere gibbs By, you know, by quite at margin,
(17:24):
David Montgommers, good good football player is going to be involved.
Your gives way better.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
It also feels like the two offensive linemen they lost,
including the you know rag Noow bailing it late in
the process, It's not like they have a natural fits. Yeah,
I'm a little down on the line now. Listen. I
know it sounds like based on what Evan's saying, you
know that I'm some kind of hot take artists. But again,
you every year, crazy shit happens, Sure, Evan, nobody on
planet Earth had Jayden Daniels doing what he did and
(17:53):
the Washington making the conference finals. Zero people had that right.
I don't think many people had bo Nicks get to
the playoffs. I don't think so. So every year there's
a bunch of wacky shit that goes down. Do you
what's your What are some of your hot predictions, either
fantasy or otherwise that aren't cutter ship? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (18:13):
I really I think the forty nine ers are gonna
blow it up offensively this year. I think they're gonna
have a huge offensive season. I think that Rockberdy played
the best fotball I don't remember because the six and eleven,
but Rockberdy played the best football of his career last year,
earned that contract. George Kittle's looking great. Ricky Piersoll is
(18:35):
like one of my highest drafted wide receivers in fennisy
football this year. You know, I think they're gonna figure
out what Juwan jenks I mean. Kyle Shanahan just has
a documented record of running high efficiency offenses regardless of personnel.
The forty nine ers also, they they're like remaking their defense.
You know, they drafted like seven dudes on defense, four
(18:56):
or five of whom may start. I think they get
off to. I think they'll be a shootot team early
in the year, and we're going to get a lot
of explosive performances from their offense.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Any idea if Brian Robinson or Gorndo are clearly the
number two behind seedback because I'm sure people learned their
lesson last year. You have to If you get Semac Barkley,
you've got a handcuff like significantly early.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
I did Adam Schefter's podcast last week Wow on Friday,
and literally during the podcast he broke the Brian Robinson
he got a call. We had to stop the podcast
because he got a call, and he's like, oh, Brian
Robinson traded San Francisco for a six round pick. We
had to wait like ten minutes. He was like on
(19:39):
the phone. He tweeted it out one hundred percent. Brian
Robinson is the number two. They just can't trust Isaac Corena.
Isaac Grenda is really talented. He ever five yards per
carry as a rookie last year. You can play in
the passing game. He's very talented. They cannot trust him
to stay help. He was hurt, like throughout his entire
college career. He missed like all training cap with a
(20:00):
shoulder injury. It's one hundred percent. Bryan Robinson's one of
the best handcuffs in fantasy.
Speaker 1 (20:06):

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Let's go to the Dolphins. They love to run the football.
Evan Silva established the run. Here's my thing. Madison is
on the IR. I just saw today. Jalen Wright, who
they seemed to like a lot, is dinged up and
he's not going to be ready to start the season.
Eight chan, I don't even know the latest. Are you
even taking a flyer on any Miami running back or
(20:39):
is it like, hey, listen, McDaniel loves to run and
finds guys. You got to have one.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
I am avoiding Devon Hhan at this point. And the
sleeper in that backfield is Ali Gordon of Oklahoma State,
a big back who had an incredible twenty twenty three
say he won the Doak Walker Award twenty twenty three
at Oklahoma State. He ran for over seventeen hundred yards.
He's not incapable in the passing game, and I think
(21:08):
that there's a chance, like, especially if Devon a Chan
has some sort of a setback, there's a chance that
Ali Gordon could make starts early in the year and
be useful or use a bull in fantasy. I think
he's one of the best sleepers on the board right now,
all right, to.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Hold up, I'm looking up his dets. I don't remember
Ali Gordon finishing seventh in the Heisman, but holy snikees
seventeen hundred yards and twenty one touchdowns, but then the
following year eight hundred and eighty yards. What happened?
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Yeah, I think he was hurt, you know, just it
wasn't it wasn't the same. You know, it wasn't the same.
But I mean he's just having one one prolific season
like that on his college resume. He should have gone pro.
People wanted him to go pro after that, the Doak
Walker Award winning season. He decided to come back and
(21:54):
it just didn't go his way. He should have come
out after the Doak Walker season.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Do you think he starts Week one over over Achan No.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
I think that they're trying to get Devon Aitchen ready
to go. But this is a soft tissue. Injury that
occurred late in the process. Dvon a Chen is a
five eight, one hundred and eighty eight pounds little you know,
he's built like a scatback. I mean, he's a lot
of fun to watch, but he's so reliant on you know,
speed and agility, and for a guy to have a
(22:24):
calf injury, a guy like that to have a calf injury,
that's a little scary.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
That's not good. Breeze Hall versus Braylan Allen, is it
a battle or is it clearly all It seemed like
they don't really want to pay him. Allen is only
twenty one and he has shown flashes. Where are you
on the Jets?
Speaker 3 (22:43):
Yeah? I really like Justin Fields this year in fantasy,
I've drafted a ton of him. I think he's going
to run for a ton of yards. I mean, he's
only a few seasons removed from running for eleven hundred
yards and eight touchdowns for the Bears. You go back
to the games where he played against Aaron Glenn's defenses
in Detroit, and he ran all over them when he
(23:05):
was the when he was the Bear starter. So I
think he's gonna be a lot of fun in fantasy.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
I don't, you know, starter or backup.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
No, I think he's a starter. I have him as Yeah,
I have him as the quarterback six in fantasy right now.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
No, stop at six? Yeah, ahead of.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Oh yeah, way ahead of Penis.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Wait a minute, oh my god. Six. Okay, so obviously
the big the big guys Burrow, Josh, Lamar, right.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
No, I have him ahead of Mahomes, Holmes hasn't Mahmes
hasn't been good in fantasy and in a few years.
Oh my, okay, hurting people, No hurts. Oh, another one
of your hot takes. Although that I don't think that
was that out of a take either. The texts were
not that hot, like.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Yeah, the reaction was, I think people.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Are just oh, of course, no hurts. His uh hurts?
Is my number number four? Uh no, my number three,
ahead of Jayden Daniels and behind Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
So do you have Jayden Daniels regressing a little?
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Right?
Speaker 2 (24:07):
That's there's no real a little bit.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
I mean, I have him as the number four overall
quarterback in fantasy. I don't. I don't think he's necessarily
going to get better statistically. Yeah, I mean him as
the number four quarterback in fantas. That's pretty high.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
Yeah. So I rode Molik Neighbors to a fantasy title
last year in an auction league. It was great. I'm
looking for that guy this year. Some people are telling
me deep sleeper and this is obviously not a league Neighbors,
but this Jacory krossky Merritt fellow in Washington. That's why
they didn't want to pay Robinson. And now he's the
backup to Eckler, who has a rich injury history.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
Yeah, Jacorey krossky Merrit. I think he's The hype on
him has kind of gotten out of control. Oh okay, yeah,
he did not catch many passes in college. Chris Rodriguez
is going to be used at the goal line. Austin
Eckler is going to lead the backfield and snaps. Jaden
Daniels is gonna run. We have room projector for like
nine hundred rushing yards. You know, Deebo Samuel is going
(25:07):
to get like two to five carries a game. It's
just it's not It is a fun story. And then
when people started taking him in the sixth round, I'm like, no,
if you're looking for it, if you're looking for a
guy who can be like Malik Neighbors in year one,
and he is a rookie receiver like mylite Neighbors was
a mecca at BUKA. I mean, just all the stars
are aligning for him. Chris Godwin is coming off this
(25:30):
horrific injury, needed multiple surgeries on his ankle. Mike Evans
is thirty two, Kate Atton, they're starting tight end, just
got Hurd and Jalen McMillan. Their their previous third receiver
is out until like week ten at best. I think
a Mecca at BUKA is going to catch a hundred
balls this year.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Okay, I'm going to butcher how to say this guy's name. Well,
I'll just say his lastning Tooton in Jacksonville. Now you
would know better than is he ahead of Bigsby on
the depth charter?
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Now that depth chart is very fluid. I love Basheal Tuton.
I love base Shall Tuton. Do you know Ris score
relative athletics scorer? Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's become real popular.
They've been tracking stuff since nineteen eighty seven. They've tracked
twenty one hundred running backs in terms of their overall
(26:26):
composite athletics score and base Shall Tuton is a top
one hundred out of those twenty one hundred, and he's
like his best comparable is Reggie Bush. I mean, he
ran a four to three to two coming out of
Virginia Tech, and he can play in the passing game.
I think he's looked awesome this preseason. I think they
(26:46):
might trade Travis Etn or Tank Bigsby before the season.
I know for a fact that they've been shopping those guys.
If they trade one of those guys, like, look out,
great situation for base Shall too. I've been drafting a
lot of base all two.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
That's interesting. So he went from no star recruit to
North Carolina A and T, then he upgraded to Virginia Tech.
I gotta be honest, you know, I spent two years
in Virginia Tech. I don't even remember this guy. Now,
Virginia Tech hasn't been great.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
Right, I haven't been good. Yeah, they've been like they've
been like seven and six, six and seven. Yeah, Virginia
Tech has been real, real, real mediocre.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
As your kid, I'm sure likes to say very mid Evan,
give me, give me, like you know, a take if
you're do you even do fourteen team leagues, by the way.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
I haven't done in the reason I've done him before.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
I'll say that, yeah, because my brother's in one, and
you know, he's asking me for guys on the waiver
wire and I give him a name that I heard
you say or something, and he's like gone, gone. It
seems like in a fourteen team league there's no good players.
I don't know, do you if you're advising fantasy guys, Hey, man,
they're they're going fourteen teams.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
Is it just not?
Speaker 2 (28:00):
No thanks, I'll pass. I'll find another one.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
It's it makes it more difficult, but you can argue
that it you know, it enhances the skill level. You
gotta work a little harder, yeah, to find guys, you know,
you gotta. You gotta hit on some later round picks.
One later round pick that I really like right now,
after the Panthers just traded away Adam Thielen to Minnesota
is Jalen Cocher, Who's going to be the Panthers big
(28:23):
slot receiver between Ted McMillan and Xavier Legette and Jalen
Cocher was excellent on slot routes last year and that
has been a really profitable fantasy position, you know, I mean,
I'm not comparing him to CD Lamb, but that's the
kind of role that CD Lamb plays, Like a big
(28:45):
slot receiver a mon Ross Saint Brown plays that. Larry
Fitzgerald kind of made that famous Hines Ward in Pittsburgh.
That can be Cooper Cup and with the rams that
can be really really profitable from a from a fantasy standpoint,
that big slot rule. And Bryce hung is a quarterback
that he throws the ball all over the middle. So
I think the Jalen Coker is would be an awesome
(29:07):
pick in a fourteen team league and like you know,
with a chance to be like a legit starter.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Wow, oh mind, they got a young receiving cord like
they had Dalan as the veteran. Now every guy's like
first second year. I don't know, real quick. Tennessee Titans,
I'm I'm all in on cam Ward. I think they're
gonna be very good. I'm curious what you think about
the wide receiver room and running back room because you
look like Burks is down done for the season. Nobody
(29:32):
believes in Van Jefferson Lockett. I mean he's thirty three
or almost thirty Calvin Ridley's good, but he's gonna be
bracketed a ton. Do you like the young kid from is?
I think it's Stanford io.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
Manor Yes, ellok I you Manore, I think you manre Okay, Yeah,
I mean his you know, his claim to fame is
that in twenty twenty three he had a game against
Colorado and he burnt up Travis Hunter.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
Yeah. And our guy you probably know, Mike Ran. He
used to be at PFF. Now he works for CBS Sports.
He's awesome. He's probably the best draft analyst that there is.
For my money, he is. And he compared Elec I
am an or to Robert Woods, who had some really
nice he was a big time Fantasy contributor. But I
(30:20):
thought that was a pretty nice comparison for him. I'm
with you on cam Woard too. By the way, I
love Tony Pollard this year. Ty J. Spears is starting
the season on IR. Tony Pollard is super, super underrated.
I think this offense takes a big step in hear
two of Brian Callahan, his dad Bill Callahan, one of
the best offensive line coaches of all time. Is I
(30:44):
think we see a big step forward from the offensive
line as well, and cam Ward is a huge upgrade
over Will Levis.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
How are you handling Packers wide receivers? I know everybody
likes the potential for Golden, but it just seems like
a logjam with Watson, Dobbs, Wicks, Reid, like, how are
you handling this well?
Speaker 3 (31:01):
I think that it's kind of evened out. The seas
have kind of parted a little bit because Christian Watson
is not going to be ready until mid season. Jayden
Reed it came out this morning, has a Jones fracture
in his foot. He's going to try to play. He's
going to try to play through it without having surgery,
but that's dicey. The more I think about I'm starting
(31:24):
to like Matthew Golden more than I did at the
start of the process. And I'm really big on Tucker Craft,
one of my favorite tight ends to draft. He's got
a little George Kittle too, one of the best run
after catch tight ends in the NFL, and I think
he can take a big step and maybe be that
breakout guy that we've been looking for in the Green
Bay Pass Cort Catri Corps this year, Tucker Craft, you
(31:46):
could get him real cheap, like in the tenth round.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Probably the Buffalo Bill's real quick. Obviously, James Cook a
little bit of a holdout. I just I wonder because
we saw some numbers on Josh Allen last year. He
would run a little bit in the early few months
and then ramp up as the game's got more important.
But you know they know that this is all about January.
In the playoff wins. Will we see Josh Allen run
(32:09):
less pass more or do they have like another running
back though mixed in to keep Cook fresh.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
Yeah? I think they really like Ray Davis. I know
that their offensive coordinator Joe Brady was banging the table
for them to draft Ray Davis last year. I think
he could take a little bit of a step forward.
But James Cook is really good, and they show that
they believe that by giving him the money. It's just
(32:35):
it's a rotation. And they also use Ty Johnson because
they love him in past protection. So you know it's
they used three running backs. You know they use like
four and five receivers. They used two tight ends. You
got Josh Allen and then you got a bunch of
committee guys all around him at like every position. Tight end,
running back and receiver.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
I love wrap up with the Arizona Cardinals offense. They
could be stacked. Maybe Kyler Murray finally breaks through. But
I'm looking at Connor and I felt like his workload
last year was heavy. He is thirty years old. Is
this the guy you need to handcuff early? And who's
your Who's Who's the ideal backup? Is it? Is it
Carter the Mercado? A lot of people like Trey Benson.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
It's Trey Benson the sixty sixth overall pick in the
draft in twenty twenty four, so he was like just
outside the second round. Might I think it was the
first or second pick of the third round last year?
Greg Coachelly, he uh, he thought that Tray Benson might
that's running back in the draft last year. Wow, But
(33:42):
Trey Benson had a little bit of a slow rookie year.
And James Connor is like he's a dog. I mean,
he just he's a freaking workhourd You know, this dude
like beat cancer, you know, coming out of college, Like,
I mean, he's a guy that if you've been betting
against James Connor since he came out of pit, like
You've been losing those bets like for a decade, you know.
(34:03):
I mean so, and I bet plus trust me, I
say that from experience because I bet against them a
few of the years and that has not gone well
for me. So James Connor is a dog. But yeah,
if you want to handcuff him, Trey Benson, Yeah all right.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Evan Silva, his website established the run a lot of
good fantasy nuggets. Follow him on social Evan, thanks man,
good luck this season.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Thanks so much, dude,
