words put together too often. You hear about oija boards
and ghosts, but angels. Well, I'm recording this show in

the fall of twenty twenty four, and so it's a
good time to talk about this. But I also want
to point out that it's pretty pretty dry here in
the desert of Las Vegas, and being a professional talker
gets kind of tough out here in this climate. I mean,

I'm right next to Death Valley, so you might hear
the dryness and my voice today. So I hope you'll
forgive me, But I do want to get into this
story from nineteen sixty. How old were your parents in
nineteen sixty? Think about that for a second, or were

they even around in nineteen sixty. I mean, there are
people who are very young who listen to this show.
In nineteen sixty, My mom and dad were eight years old,
And it's kind of interesting just to put stories in
that kind of context. Because the account that I'm going
to read you to read to you comes from a

man who used a wage board in nineteen sixty and
he started asking the biggest question and he believes that
he wasn't just getting some nonsense. You'll see why I'm
reading this to you. He seems to think that he
has confirmation that he was communicating with an angel that

was using an ancient language, and he asked questions like
what is reality? What is heaven? What is time? Is
their life after death? What is the mind. Yeah, you're
gonna get the answer to all these questions shortly. Oh boy,

I make some big promises on this show, don't I.
But let's just for the heck of it, let's go
and talk about the wija board for just a moment,
because some people call it a wig board, and it's
not wigi. It's wija wijeborn and it seems okay based

on what I understand. It's from the French yes we
and then like the German word for yes, like yeah oija.
Let's see what it says here, The Almighty Wikipedia Ouija,
also known as a wija board, spirit board, talking board,

or which board, is a flat board mark with the
letters of the Latin alphabet, the numbers zero through nine,
and the words yes, no, and occasionally hello and goodbye,
along with various symbols and graphics. It uses a plan shit,
(04:38):
which is a small heart shaped piece of wood or plastic,
as a movable indicator to spell out messages. During seance,
participants place their fingers on the plan chet and it
has moved about the board to spell out words. The
name Ouija is a trademark of Hasbro, inherited for Parker Brothers,

but is often used generically to refer to any talking board,
goes on to say, here's spiritualist in the United States
believed that the dead were able to contact the living,
and reportedly used a talking board very similar to the
modern Wiga board at their camps in Ohio during eighteen
eighty six, with the intent of enabling faster communication with spirits.

That's all it says about that. I read that. I
was like, what what do you mean? They're camps in Ohio.
But look, I don't have time to dig into the
history of wija board. We'll do that some other time.
I'm just giving you some kind of an idea, it says.
Following its commercial patent by businessman Elijah Bond in eighteen

ninety one, the wija board was regarded as an innocent
parlor game unrelated to the occult until American spiritualist Pearl
Curran popped pularized its use as a divining tool during
World War One. All right, and again, who is who

is Pearl Current? I don't know. Maybe someday I'll sit
down and just do a whole show where we dig
into the wig aboard. But that's not the purpose of
this show. This show is to communicate with you the
messages that this guy got through this weige board and
in nineteen sixty. Now here's why I'm bringing this up.

You know, for decades I have been a friend of
Phyllis Galdy and she is the current owner publisher of
Fate Magazine, one of the greatest publications of all time.
And last year, my wife Lauren bought me this book
that was published in the nineteen sixties and it's called

Fate's Strangest Mysteries, a true and startlingk chronicle of fantastic
people and strange events science cannot explain. And occasionally I
will read a story from this because I contacted Philis
Galdy and I asked her if it was okay with her,
and she said, yes, absolutely. And if you are not

sitting down and you know what, I think that Lauren
bought this book for me about a year ago because

it was a birthday present, because you know, my birthday
is in October. And it's funny when this book came out.
This little paperback came out in nineteen In the nineteen sixties,
it was fifty cents fifty cents. So here's this story
called did I Speak with Angels? Gustav Gumbert and I Again,

this kind of stood out for me because you think
of using a wija board to like tap into some dark, spooky, terrifying,
possibly demonic energy. But no, he thinks he might have
talked to angels. So let me I'm just going to
start reading what he said here, and I'm going to
(08:24):
skip around a little bit. Where do wija board messages
come from from the unconscious minds of the operators, from
beings dwelling in a world beyond? Or are they telepathic communications?
These were the questions that filled our minds as a
friend and I hunched over the wija board one snowy
(08:47):
night last winter. We were determined to make a calm
and objective experiment. Actually, we were about to get the
shock of our laws, for we received a series of
messages that reversed our opinion on the chances of communicating
with the world beyond the senses. As the pointer slid

evenly deliberately across the board, we saw spelled out before
our astonished eyes a message that never could have come
from either of our minds. It was in a language
that neither of us knew, one no man has ever spoken.

But let's begin at the beginning. The first part of
the message was in English. Quote this is Raphael. End quote.
Then we received a brilliant lecture on occult philosophy that,
when written down, filled one notebook page. Well, this much,
we decided, could have bubbled up from our unconscious minds.

We both had read a little literature sure of occultism,
and we knew that Rafael, along with Gabriel, Michael, and Uriel,
were the four archangels of the ancient Hebrews angelic hierarchy.
And you know, so we were. We were dissatisfied. What
we wanted was a test that would definitely rule out

the chances of our unconscious collaborating with the board, and
we challenged that we Ja or whatever was operating it,
to give us proof beyond any question. The next message seemed,
at first glance like a string of nonsense syllables E

a certain precision about the movements of the point or
aroused our suspicion, and instead of moving wildly as one

may be getting something after all. Well, we're going to

Let's see. Oh yeah, it was episode one hundred. I
wanted to do that as a special occasion. Episode one
hundred of this this podcast called Strange Things is called
Joshua interviews his dad about the paranormal and he has
a surprise. And there is a surprise in that, by
the way, because my dad, well maybe I shouldn't tell
you if you haven't listened to it. I don't want

to spoil it for you. But you'll never guess what
the surprise is. My dad has written a couple of books,
and he likes to write these books that are he
likes to write fiction, and he likes to write ken
I guess, like paranormal novellas or novelettes that are maybe

like one hundred pages or so for all ages. And
I'm holding in my hands, I kid you, and i'd
just got the very first copy in the mail today,
my dad's new book. He writes under the pen name
Stone Owl, Stone Owl. Why is that? Well, we'll let

that be a mystery for a while. You can dwell
on that. But when I was a kid, the first
time I ever heard about the Brown mountain lights, these
mysterious illuminations, these balls of light floating around the mountains
of Western North Carolina was when my dad would tell
me these stories about the Brown Mountain Lights, and he
(15:43):
loved that song. There's a song called the Legend of
the Brown Mountain Lights by Tommy fail and my dad,
who was in his seventies. You know, he was born
in western North Carolina. He's lived there his whole life.
He finally decided to sit down and take a lot
of the stories, the legends and the fun stuff and

combine them with some of the scientific research and write
this story. And it's called Brown Mountain Lights Adventure. I
got it literally, I just got this a couple hours
ago out of the mill. And on the back is
a picture of my dad, Danny Warren Stone. Now, and
here's what it says. After losing his mother, Randy Early's

life changes when he meets a mystical man named Daniel
while fishing by the river. I know that's confusing, isn't it,
because my dad's name is Daniel. But he anyway, you
see where this is going, all right, So, after considerable persistence,
Daniel enlists Randy's help to destroy the aliens on Brown
Mountain near Ashville, North Carolina. After meeting people not of

this earth and experiencing many trials and tribulations, the men
discover that the aliens are not so easy to beat.
An entertaining story for all ages, and good for sharing
around the campfire. And then there's a little bio of
my dad. Says Born and raised in the mountains of
western North Carolina, stone Owl resides with his wife, roaming

throughout the Appalachians, wood carving and enjoying the best blue
ridge life has to offer. I'll tell you what this.
He wrote a poem in the beginning, and I'm just
going to read you the poem. This is published by
Lisa Hagen's Books. I've known Lisa Hagen for years, and
let me tell you something. She only publishes the best stuff.

She has published some of my stuff, so I can
speak from experience. She knows she knows a good author, right.
And here's a poem that opens the book. This is
from my father, Nanny Warren, I e Stone Owl. As
we stood upon the rim from Wiseman's view and gazed

to the gorge. The Linnville River meandered along its crooked,
rocky path. The splendor from the view above, I hoped
would always last. Across the canyon. You could see the
famous Table Rock, watching over a hawk Bill Mountain from
the flatness of its top. In the distance stood Brown Mountain,

the most mystic place to be rising each night its
mysterious lights. Only a few have been privileged to see. When,
to my surprise interview, there glides a giant that I've
never seen, a bald eagle by name. All know it's fame,
a symbol of freedom and peace, such a majestic one
(18:45):
with strength and grace. As he sailed on toward the east,
his course was set the way the river went. As
he floated through the sky, I prayed that he would
turn around, but I could only tell him by a
place of such beauty I never knew existed so close
to home. I'd find a treasure like this. As darkness
(19:09):
falls upon the land, while still gazing at the sky,
a distant light begins to rise from the mountain before
my eyes. I realize now that I've viewed the lights
that have been rising through the years. A wetness falls
from both my eyes. I guess you call it tears.

The lights are real, and I've been blessed among the
few to sit and watch from my seat of rock.
The light's mysterious views the Brown Mountain Lights. They rise
all night and slowly fade away. Now I've seen the
views by night, and I've seen the views by day.

It's getting so cold I have to go, so I'm
starting out the trail. If anyone tells you the lights
aren't real, just tell them time will tell. That's how
my dad opens this book, Brown Mountain Lights Adventure, and
then it gets into this crazy story. So how cool

obviously it was in my genes. I inherited this interest
in strange things, and my dad has proven that. So
Brown mountain. Miight's adventure is perfect for this time of

have the best chances of seeing the brown mountain lights
there in western North Carolina. Look it up, all right,

back to this Oijaboard story. So all right, so basically,
this guy, he's there with his buddy, and he said
that he wants to point out, okay, these words are
coming in that seemed like gibberish. And he says, it's
only fair to say that between the two of us

we do read or speak eight languages German, English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Latin,
and Greek. We also have a smattering of some of
the Slavic tongues. And I had once taken a brief
and not very useful core in Hindustani. So this guy
(22:04):
keeps talking about how like like he and his buddy
they know all these languages and they're but they're not
figuring out what's coming through here. So they take this
information and he says, flickering in the recesses of my
memory was a recollection that somewhere I had read about
(22:27):
a strange language that had been discovered in England centuries
ago by two mystics. It stuck in my mind that
this language was supposed to have been spoken by an angel. Now,
for those who may feel skeptical at this point, let
me say that I have never seen any samples of
this hidden language. Somewhere in my mind, I remember reading
(22:51):
a reference to doctor John d the court astrologer to
Queen Elizabeth. The article said that d and collaboration with
a man named Edward Kelly, had received and recorded messages
in a language that he learned from an angel. So
this guy goes really in depth here, okay, talking about
who John d was, and he goes back. Long story short,

as we say, he goes back and he realizes that
when he starts looking at this quote unquote gibberish that's
coming through and comparing it to this ancient language that
John Dee said was an angelic language and John d
was the inspiration for the real Merlin, suddenly they break,

they break the code and they start deciphering this angelic
language coming through, coming through. He says. From that day on,
the messages continued, Oh boy, we're already up on our
next break. See this is why you got to sign

for that because it wasn't necessary. But that's why I
did the podcast last week and I told you the
behind the scenes scoop on everything. But what an honor,

What an honor to be uh, to be invited for that.
But also, you know what, I don't talk about politics,
you know this. The only political thing that is important
to me is free speech. For obvious reasons, I'm a
professional talker, so I definitely believe that free speech is

the most important right of all. And sometimes the Internet
gets a little little wonky, little wishy washy. So like,
for example, I'm meant to point out, like, if you

talk about, so little time. Back to Fate's strangest mysteries,
Gustav Gumbert. So anyway, he and his companion they decipher
(28:28):
this ancient angelic language, and you know, I could, I
could sit here and tell you for three hours you
know how they did all this. But let's just cut
to the chase. Here are the answers to the questions.
Number one. Okay, so this is a question that he
asked on April eighteenth of nineteen sixty, April being a
(28:49):
very paranormal month. What is reality? The angel speaking through
the weigiboard, which I know is an unusual concept, as
you usually think of wijiborgs as being some kind of
nasty thing. But hey, the angel says, the world as
(29:09):
you see and know it is not the true world,
the world of your senses is one of many possible worlds.
You will never understand this until you have experienced the
greater view of the universe, which is what men mean
when they speak of enlightenment. This is the meaning of
(29:33):
the Japanese zen Satori, the meaning of the Buddha when
he spoke of nirvana, and of Jesus when he spoke
of heaven. Okay, So then he asks this angel, speaking
in this archaic, obscure language, well, what is heaven? The
(29:54):
angel says, a state of mind open to all men,
which comes through careful following of the path. It is
a new experience of the universe which shows the many
worlds within the one world, and the one world within
(30:14):
the many. So then he says, well, what is required
for faith healing? And the angel says, to be a healer,
one must first learn to release the unconscious, as all
power of the earthly type flows from this source. Secondly,
(30:35):
you must learn to focus this unconscious power on one
problem at a time. The unconscious operates when you are asleep. Therefore,
before going to sleep, concentrate on one subject. Limit your
concentration to one phrase or sentence of not more than
ten words. Repeat this over and over. Your unconscious will
(30:59):
do the rest, and you will achieve. You will achieve
the objective. Then he says, well, what is time? The
Angel says, there is no time as you know it.
Everything in the universe is an experience occurring simultaneously. You
(31:21):
perceive them in many parts, and that is what you
mean by time. And now we're jumping into May of
nineteen sixty, and he says, is their life after death?
The Angel says time has no beginning or ending, nor
do you. It is as though you walked through a
(31:45):
series of rooms. Each room is there and continues to
exist after you depart from it. Before you enter it
is the future, and after you leave it is the past.
But the room is always there. It is you who changes.
(32:08):
You will always continue, for you are a great circle
that begins nowhere and ends nowhere. And lastly, he asks
this question May ninth of nineteen sixty What is mind?
(32:31):
And the Angel says, the function of the mind is
not clearly understood by science. The mind is not the brain.
On the contrary, the brain is an instrument that is
used by the mind to achieve its purpose. The mind,
(32:51):
in turn, is part of a total system and this
system cannot be fully comprehended unless it is experiences. The
brain is an electronic system. The mind is a multi
dimensional system, greater than the brain in more than size.
(33:13):
It is like putting the ocean in a bottle to
try to understand the mind with the brain. Therefore, resign
yourself to the fact that you will never understand the mind.
You can only experience it. For if you try to
understand the greater with the lesser, what can you learn?
(33:39):
And then he goes on to say, in addition to
these messages, I was given many examples of independent knowledge
of facts, events, and situations that we could not have known.
Most of these are personal, however, and cannot be reported here.
He summarizes by saying, this remarkable experience raises a number
(34:02):
of questions, how can we explain by any rational method
the message in angelic before either of us the operators
had seen the language. And most remarkable of all, I
think this experience has caused two hard headed skeptics to
question their own explanations of the universe. For if we
(34:27):
can talk with angels, well, what kind of world do
we really live in? Did you get anything out of that? Again?

You know, isn't that interesting something that happened in nineteen sixty.
Here it is twenty twenty four. I'm reading this from
nineteen sixty, and yet it sort of it makes sense,
doesn't it. I think it makes sense. Well, I remember
(35:07):
when I was in college. Let's see, Yeah, I got
a scholarship to college because I'm extremely handsome. You know,
if you took Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt and merged
them into some Greek anyway, So I think I was
in college and I was taking biology. I could be
(35:31):
wrong about this, but I'm at some point in my
life I was taking biology and I was told that
there was an experiment that was done about genetic memory.
Have you ever heard of this? That basically, they some
scientists took some kind of worm or something, and they
(35:53):
they taught it to navigate a maze to get a treat,
and then when the worm died, they grounded up and
they fed this worm to a brand new baby worm,
and then they put that babyworm in the maze, and
(36:13):
the baby worm knew how to solve the maze and
get the treat. And it kind of makes you wonder
a little bit about genetics and how things are passed
along and instinct in all of that, Well, is there
any truth to that whatsoever, that there is some form
of immortality that is not just spiritual but sort of
(36:36):
a physical way of surviving death and passing along information,
especially if time is all happening at once and we're
just sort of experiencing it. I want to dig a
little bit into genetic memory because there's a new news
story that also is saying that, well, there may be
(36:57):
a new variation online life after death, which is based
upon the idea of genetic memory, of things being passed
along from creature to creature over time, that life after
death is not just a spiritual thing but literally a
(37:19):
physical thing, and that you've always been around because well,

mentioned that I spent an evening with Page Bryant. Paige
Bryant was an author who popularized VO Texas. She started

in Sedona, Arizona, and then she ended up moving to
western North Carolina, and my friend Brian Irish and I
went and spent a night with her, and I just
remember like one of the things she said was do
you know the story of the scientific Chicken? And I
said no, and she and she said, uh, well, all
the scientific Chicken was there taking notes every day and said,

all right, well, it appears that the farmer comes out
here every day about six in the morning and feeds us,
and then he comes out and you know, he waters
us about eight in the morning, and then he waters
us again about two in the afternoon, and then he
comes and he feeds us again about three in the afternoon.

And I've documented this a thousand times. So this is
a law. This is this is this is what the
farmer does. This is a law. It's like a law
of physics. And then one day the farmer comes out
and jerks them all out of there and cuts their
heads off. So it's it's probably not the best story
(39:45):
to tell your child. But it has to do with,
you know, the uncertainty that we all feel. Just because
you're used to something and you've seen it happen this
particular way ninety nine point nine percent of the time
doesn't mean there cannot be a gigantic exception. And you know,

when it comes to death, like living and dying and
all that, it is interesting to think about how we
fit into this, Like we just get used to things,
you know, we get we just get to I don't
want to say in a rut. Sometimes we get in
a rut, but you just get used to things that
you start taking your life for granted sometimes, you know.

I was born in Asheville, North Carolina, and Thomas Wolfe
is the most famous author from there. And he wrote
in his book Look Homeward Angel about watching his brother

a man from you know. Well, well, Thomas wolf died

in the I think in the thirties, so this would
have been anyway like so he writes this. He's sitting
there and he's looking at his brother and he wrote
quote the rattling and the wasted body, which seemed for
hours to have given over to death. All of life

that is worth saving had now ceased. The body appeared
to grow rigid before them, and then Ben breathed one
more gasp of breath, opening his eyes, rising off his pillow,
to the astonishment of Tom and his family, before passing,
as Thomas Wolfe wrote, quote instantly scornful and unafraid, as
(41:38):
he had lived into the shades of death. End quote.
But this is the thing that stuck out really for me,
he wrote. We can believe and the nothingness of life.
We can believe, and the nothingness of death and of
life after death. But who can believe in the nothingness
of Ben? You know? My favorite story by Thomas Wolfe
(42:03):
was called The Far and the Near And if you

you wonder, doesn't it about our place in the universe.

So there's a story that came out about I guess
maybe it's genetic memory. I mean, I read this story
during the break and honestly, the story kind of sucks.
But basically, like genetic memory, is this theorized phenomenon in
which certain kinds of memories could be inherited being present
at birth in the absence of any associated sensory experience,

and that such memories could be incorporated into the genome
over long spans of time. And that's it. Is it
true or not? It's kind of up in the air. Still,
it's wishy washy, but we knew, we do know that
instinct exists. So I got sent this story from somebody
from Unexplained hyphen Mysteries dot com. It's called Scientists discover

new third state between life and death and it basically
says it's not quite Frankenstein's Monster, but the find is
likely to push the boundaries of life, death, and medicine.
Researchers have found that skin cells extracted from deceased frog
embryos were able to adapt to the new conditions of

a petri dish in a lab, spontaneously reorganizing into multi
cellular organisms called xenobox xenobots. This is not easy to
read nor easy to speak, Okay, so let me try
this again, Okay. Researchers found that skin cells extracted from

dead frog embryos were able to adapt to the new
conditions of a Patriot dish and a lab spontaneously reorganizing
into multi cellular organisms called xenobox, and these organisms exhibit

behaviors that extend far beyond their original biological roles. These
xenobots use their cillia, little small hair like structures to
navigate and move through their surroundings. Xenobots are also able

to perform kinematic self replication, meaning they can physically replicate
their structure andunction without growing. See. I don't even understand
exactly what they're talking about here. I mean, like I think,
I think what they're trying to say is that if
you break this down, you can take Okay, let's read this.

It says the third state challenges how scientists typically understand
cell behavior. While caterpillars metamorphosing into butterflies or tadpoles evolving
into frogs may be familiar, there are a few instances
where organisms change in ways that are not predetermined. Tumors, organoids,

and cell lines that can indefinitely divide in a petri
dish are not considered part of the third state because
they do not develop new functions. But I think that
what they're saying is that some of these cells are

able to adapt things which may be similar to the
genetic memory thing I was talking about. I'm really not certain,
you know. That's one thing about this show. I mean,
I'm not just gonna like sit here and pretend that
every story that pops up in front of me that
is interesting is something that I understand, because I mean,

that would be foolish, wouldn't it. I don't know, I
don't understand. I'm just as confused as you are half

odds of her getting a ladder out and walking up
there to see what's on top of the fridge. I bet.
I bet the top of your refrigerator is dusty. There

may be a whole ecosystem living on top of that refrigerator.
So that's called that a public service announcement. That's my
advice for you on how to keep a secret from
your wife, no matter what it is, put it on

words put together too often. You hear about oija boards
and ghosts, but angels. Well, I'm recording this show in

the fall of twenty twenty four, and so it's a
good time to talk about this. But I also want
to point out that it's pretty pretty dry here in
the desert of Las Vegas, and being a professional talker
gets kind of tough out here in this climate. I mean,

I'm right next to Death Valley, so you might hear
the dryness and my voice today. So I hope you'll
forgive me, But I do want to get into this
story from nineteen sixty. How old were your parents in
nineteen sixty? Think about that for a second, or were
(02:26):
they even around in nineteen sixty. I mean, there are
people who are very young who listen to this show.
In nineteen sixty, My mom and dad were eight years old,
And it's kind of interesting just to put stories in
that kind of context. Because the account that I'm going
to read you to read to you comes from a
(02:51):
man who used a wage board in nineteen sixty and
he started asking the biggest question and he believes that
he wasn't just getting some nonsense. You'll see why I'm
reading this to you. He seems to think that he
has confirmation that he was communicating with an angel that
(03:16):
was using an ancient language, and he asked questions like
what is reality? What is heaven? What is time? Is
their life after death? What is the mind. Yeah, you're
gonna get the answer to all these questions shortly. Oh boy,

I make some big promises on this show, don't I.
But let's just for the heck of it, let's go
and talk about the wija board for just a moment,
because some people call it a wig board, and it's
not wigi. It's wija wijeborn and it seems okay based
(03:57):
on what I understand. It's from the French yes we
and then like the German word for yes, like yeah oija.
Let's see what it says here, The Almighty Wikipedia Ouija,
also known as a wija board, spirit board, talking board,
(04:17):
or which board, is a flat board mark with the
letters of the Latin alphabet, the numbers zero through nine,
and the words yes, no, and occasionally hello and goodbye,
along with various symbols and graphics. It uses a plan shit,
(04:38):
which is a small heart shaped piece of wood or plastic,
as a movable indicator to spell out messages. During seance,
participants place their fingers on the plan chet and it
has moved about the board to spell out words. The
name Ouija is a trademark of Hasbro, inherited for Parker Brothers,

but is often used generically to refer to any talking board,
goes on to say, here's spiritualist in the United States
believed that the dead were able to contact the living,
and reportedly used a talking board very similar to the
modern Wiga board at their camps in Ohio during eighteen
eighty six, with the intent of enabling faster communication with spirits.

That's all it says about that. I read that. I
was like, what what do you mean? They're camps in Ohio.
But look, I don't have time to dig into the
history of wija board. We'll do that some other time.
I'm just giving you some kind of an idea, it says.
Following its commercial patent by businessman Elijah Bond in eighteen

ninety one, the wija board was regarded as an innocent
parlor game unrelated to the occult until American spiritualist Pearl
Curran popped pularized its use as a divining tool during
World War One. All right, and again, who is who

is Pearl Current? I don't know. Maybe someday I'll sit
down and just do a whole show where we dig
into the wig aboard. But that's not the purpose of
this show. This show is to communicate with you the
messages that this guy got through this weige board and
in nineteen sixty. Now here's why I'm bringing this up.

You know, for decades I have been a friend of
Phyllis Galdy and she is the current owner publisher of
Fate Magazine, one of the greatest publications of all time.
And last year, my wife Lauren bought me this book
that was published in the nineteen sixties and it's called

Fate's Strangest Mysteries, a true and startlingk chronicle of fantastic
people and strange events science cannot explain. And occasionally I
will read a story from this because I contacted Philis
Galdy and I asked her if it was okay with her,
and she said, yes, absolutely. And if you are not

sitting down and you know what, I think that Lauren
bought this book for me about a year ago because

it was a birthday present, because you know, my birthday
is in October. And it's funny when this book came out.
This little paperback came out in nineteen In the nineteen sixties,
it was fifty cents fifty cents. So here's this story
called did I Speak with Angels? Gustav Gumbert and I Again,
(08:04):
this kind of stood out for me because you think
of using a wija board to like tap into some dark, spooky, terrifying,
possibly demonic energy. But no, he thinks he might have
talked to angels. So let me I'm just going to
start reading what he said here, and I'm going to
(08:24):
skip around a little bit. Where do wija board messages
come from from the unconscious minds of the operators, from
beings dwelling in a world beyond? Or are they telepathic communications?
These were the questions that filled our minds as a
friend and I hunched over the wija board one snowy
(08:47):
night last winter. We were determined to make a calm
and objective experiment. Actually, we were about to get the
shock of our laws, for we received a series of
messages that reversed our opinion on the chances of communicating
with the world beyond the senses. As the pointer slid
(09:10):
evenly deliberately across the board, we saw spelled out before
our astonished eyes a message that never could have come
from either of our minds. It was in a language
that neither of us knew, one no man has ever spoken.

But let's begin at the beginning. The first part of
the message was in English. Quote this is Raphael. End quote.
Then we received a brilliant lecture on occult philosophy that,
when written down, filled one notebook page. Well, this much,
we decided, could have bubbled up from our unconscious minds.

We both had read a little literature sure of occultism,
and we knew that Rafael, along with Gabriel, Michael, and Uriel,
were the four archangels of the ancient Hebrews angelic hierarchy.
And you know, so we were. We were dissatisfied. What
we wanted was a test that would definitely rule out

the chances of our unconscious collaborating with the board, and
we challenged that we Ja or whatever was operating it,
to give us proof beyond any question. The next message seemed,
at first glance like a string of nonsense syllables E

a certain precision about the movements of the point or
aroused our suspicion, and instead of moving wildly as one

conscious directions. So let's go with it, I said, we
may be getting something after all. Well, we're going to

he realized this was an angelic language that has a

I'm holding in my hands, I kid you, and i'd
just got the very first copy in the mail today,
my dad's new book. He writes under the pen name
Stone Owl, Stone Owl. Why is that? Well, we'll let

that be a mystery for a while. You can dwell
on that. But when I was a kid, the first
time I ever heard about the Brown mountain lights, these
mysterious illuminations, these balls of light floating around the mountains
of Western North Carolina was when my dad would tell
me these stories about the Brown Mountain Lights, and he

loved that song. There's a song called the Legend of
the Brown Mountain Lights by Tommy fail and my dad,
who was in his seventies. You know, he was born
in western North Carolina. He's lived there his whole life.
He finally decided to sit down and take a lot
of the stories, the legends and the fun stuff and

combine them with some of the scientific research and write
this story. And it's called Brown Mountain Lights Adventure. I
got it literally, I just got this a couple hours
ago out of the mill. And on the back is
a picture of my dad, Danny Warren Stone. Now, and
here's what it says. After losing his mother, Randy Early's

life changes when he meets a mystical man named Daniel
while fishing by the river. I know that's confusing, isn't it,
because my dad's name is Daniel. But he anyway, you
see where this is going, all right, So, after considerable persistence,
Daniel enlists Randy's help to destroy the aliens on Brown
Mountain near Ashville, North Carolina. After meeting people not of

this earth and experiencing many trials and tribulations, the men
discover that the aliens are not so easy to beat.
An entertaining story for all ages, and good for sharing
around the campfire. And then there's a little bio of
my dad. Says Born and raised in the mountains of
western North Carolina, stone Owl resides with his wife, roaming

throughout the Appalachians, wood carving and enjoying the best blue
ridge life has to offer. I'll tell you what this.
He wrote a poem in the beginning, and I'm just
going to read you the poem. This is published by
Lisa Hagen's Books. I've known Lisa Hagen for years, and
let me tell you something. She only publishes the best stuff.

And here's a poem that opens the book. This is

we stood upon the rim from Wiseman's view and gazed

to the gorge. The Linnville River meandered along its crooked,
rocky path. The splendor from the view above, I hoped
would always last. Across the canyon. You could see the
famous Table Rock, watching over a hawk Bill Mountain from
the flatness of its top. In the distance stood Brown Mountain,

the most mystic place to be rising each night its
mysterious lights. Only a few have been privileged to see. When,
to my surprise interview, there glides a giant that I've
never seen, a bald eagle by name. All know it's fame,
a symbol of freedom and peace, such a majestic one
(18:45):
with strength and grace. As he sailed on toward the east,
his course was set the way the river went. As
he floated through the sky, I prayed that he would
turn around, but I could only tell him by a
place of such beauty I never knew existed so close
to home. I'd find a treasure like this. As darkness
(19:09):
falls upon the land, while still gazing at the sky,
a distant light begins to rise from the mountain before
my eyes. I realize now that I've viewed the lights
that have been rising through the years. A wetness falls
from both my eyes. I guess you call it tears.

The lights are real, and I've been blessed among the
few to sit and watch from my seat of rock.
The light's mysterious views the Brown Mountain Lights. They rise
all night and slowly fade away. Now I've seen the
views by night, and I've seen the views by day.

It's getting so cold I have to go, so I'm
starting out the trail. If anyone tells you the lights
aren't real, just tell them time will tell. That's how

then it gets into this crazy story. So how cool

obviously it was in my genes. I inherited this interest
in strange things, and my dad has proven that. So

have the best chances of seeing the brown mountain lights
there in western North Carolina. Look it up, all right,

back to this Oijaboard story. So all right, so basically,
this guy, he's there with his buddy, and he said
that he wants to point out, okay, these words are
coming in that seemed like gibberish. And he says, it's
only fair to say that between the two of us
(21:42):
we do read or speak eight languages German, English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Latin,
and Greek. We also have a smattering of some of
the Slavic tongues. And I had once taken a brief
and not very useful core in Hindustani. So this guy
(22:04):
keeps talking about how like like he and his buddy
they know all these languages and they're but they're not
figuring out what's coming through here. So they take this
information and he says, flickering in the recesses of my
memory was a recollection that somewhere I had read about
(22:27):
a strange language that had been discovered in England centuries
ago by two mystics. It stuck in my mind that
this language was supposed to have been spoken by an angel. Now,
for those who may feel skeptical at this point, let
me say that I have never seen any samples of
this hidden language. Somewhere in my mind, I remember reading
(22:51):
a reference to doctor John d the court astrologer to
Queen Elizabeth. The article said that d and collaboration with
a man named Edward Kelly, had received and recorded messages
in a language that he learned from an angel. So
this guy goes really in depth here, okay, talking about
who John d was, and he goes back. Long story short,

as we say, he goes back and he realizes that
when he starts looking at this quote unquote gibberish that's
coming through and comparing it to this ancient language that
John Dee said was an angelic language and John d
was the inspiration for the real Merlin, suddenly they break,

they break the code and they start deciphering this angelic
language coming through, coming through. He says. From that day on,
the messages continued, Oh boy, we're already up on our
next break. See this is why you got to sign

talk about, so little time. Back to Fate's strangest mysteries,
Gustav Gumbert. So anyway, he and his companion they decipher
(28:28):
this ancient angelic language, and you know, I could, I
could sit here and tell you for three hours you
know how they did all this. But let's just cut
to the chase. Here are the answers to the questions.
Number one. Okay, so this is a question that he
asked on April eighteenth of nineteen sixty, April being a
(28:49):
very paranormal month. What is reality? The angel speaking through
the weigiboard, which I know is an unusual concept, as
you usually think of wijiborgs as being some kind of
nasty thing. But hey, the angel says, the world as

you see and know it is not the true world,
the world of your senses is one of many possible worlds.
You will never understand this until you have experienced the
greater view of the universe, which is what men mean
when they speak of enlightenment. This is the meaning of

the Japanese zen Satori, the meaning of the Buddha when
he spoke of nirvana, and of Jesus when he spoke
of heaven. Okay, So then he asks this angel, speaking
in this archaic, obscure language, well, what is heaven? The
(29:54):
angel says, a state of mind open to all men,
which comes through careful following of the path. It is
a new experience of the universe which shows the many
worlds within the one world, and the one world within
(30:14):
the many. So then he says, well, what is required
for faith healing? And the angel says, to be a healer,
one must first learn to release the unconscious, as all
power of the earthly type flows from this source. Secondly,
(30:35):
you must learn to focus this unconscious power on one
problem at a time. The unconscious operates when you are asleep. Therefore,
before going to sleep, concentrate on one subject. Limit your
concentration to one phrase or sentence of not more than
ten words. Repeat this over and over. Your unconscious will
(30:59):
do the rest, and you will achieve. You will achieve
the objective. Then he says, well, what is time? The
Angel says, there is no time as you know it.
Everything in the universe is an experience occurring simultaneously. You
(31:21):
perceive them in many parts, and that is what you
mean by time. And now we're jumping into May of
nineteen sixty, and he says, is their life after death?
The Angel says time has no beginning or ending, nor
do you. It is as though you walked through a
(31:45):
series of rooms. Each room is there and continues to
exist after you depart from it. Before you enter it
is the future, and after you leave it is the past.
But the room is always there. It is you who changes.
(32:08):
You will always continue, for you are a great circle
that begins nowhere and ends nowhere. And lastly, he asks
this question May ninth of nineteen sixty What is mind?
(32:31):
And the Angel says, the function of the mind is
not clearly understood by science. The mind is not the brain.
On the contrary, the brain is an instrument that is
used by the mind to achieve its purpose. The mind,
(32:51):
in turn, is part of a total system and this
system cannot be fully comprehended unless it is experiences. The
brain is an electronic system. The mind is a multi
dimensional system, greater than the brain in more than size.
(33:13):
It is like putting the ocean in a bottle to
try to understand the mind with the brain. Therefore, resign
yourself to the fact that you will never understand the mind.
You can only experience it. For if you try to
understand the greater with the lesser, what can you learn?
(33:39):
And then he goes on to say, in addition to
these messages, I was given many examples of independent knowledge
of facts, events, and situations that we could not have known.
Most of these are personal, however, and cannot be reported here.
He summarizes by saying, this remarkable experience raises a number
(34:02):
of questions, how can we explain by any rational method
the message in angelic before either of us the operators
had seen the language. And most remarkable of all, I
think this experience has caused two hard headed skeptics to
question their own explanations of the universe. For if we
(34:27):
can talk with angels, well, what kind of world do
we really live in? Did you get anything out of that? Again?

You know, isn't that interesting something that happened in nineteen sixty.
Here it is twenty twenty four. I'm reading this from
nineteen sixty, and yet it sort of it makes sense,
doesn't it. I think it makes sense. Well, I remember
(35:07):
when I was in college. Let's see, Yeah, I got
a scholarship to college because I'm extremely handsome. You know,
if you took Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt and merged
them into some Greek anyway, So I think I was
in college and I was taking biology. I could be
(35:31):
wrong about this, but I'm at some point in my
life I was taking biology and I was told that
there was an experiment that was done about genetic memory.
Have you ever heard of this? That basically, they some
scientists took some kind of worm or something, and they
(35:53):
they taught it to navigate a maze to get a treat,
and then when the worm died, they grounded up and
they fed this worm to a brand new baby worm,
and then they put that babyworm in the maze, and
(36:13):
the baby worm knew how to solve the maze and
get the treat. And it kind of makes you wonder
a little bit about genetics and how things are passed
along and instinct in all of that, Well, is there
any truth to that whatsoever, that there is some form
of immortality that is not just spiritual but sort of
(36:36):
a physical way of surviving death and passing along information,
especially if time is all happening at once and we're
just sort of experiencing it. I want to dig a
little bit into genetic memory because there's a new news
story that also is saying that, well, there may be
(36:57):
a new variation online life after death, which is based
upon the idea of genetic memory, of things being passed
along from creature to creature over time, that life after
death is not just a spiritual thing but literally a
(37:19):
physical thing, and that you've always been around because well,

mentioned that I spent an evening with Page Bryant. Paige
Bryant was an author who popularized VO Texas. She started
(38:39):
in Sedona, Arizona, and then she ended up moving to
western North Carolina, and my friend Brian Irish and I
went and spent a night with her, and I just
remember like one of the things she said was do
you know the story of the scientific Chicken? And I
said no, and she and she said, uh, well, all
the scientific Chicken was there taking notes every day and said,
(39:02):
all right, well, it appears that the farmer comes out
here every day about six in the morning and feeds us,
and then he comes out and you know, he waters
us about eight in the morning, and then he waters
us again about two in the afternoon, and then he
comes and he feeds us again about three in the afternoon.
(39:23):
And I've documented this a thousand times. So this is
a law. This is this is this is what the
farmer does. This is a law. It's like a law
of physics. And then one day the farmer comes out
and jerks them all out of there and cuts their
heads off. So it's it's probably not the best story
(39:45):
to tell your child. But it has to do with,
you know, the uncertainty that we all feel. Just because
you're used to something and you've seen it happen this
particular way ninety nine point nine percent of the time
doesn't mean there cannot be a gigantic exception. And you know,
(40:08):
when it comes to death, like living and dying and
all that, it is interesting to think about how we
fit into this, Like we just get used to things,
you know, we get we just get to I don't
want to say in a rut. Sometimes we get in
a rut, but you just get used to things that
you start taking your life for granted sometimes, you know.
(40:31):
I was born in Asheville, North Carolina, and Thomas Wolfe
is the most famous author from there. And he wrote
in his book Look Homeward Angel about watching his brother
Ben die of tuberculosis. So here's Thomas wolf This is
a man from you know. Well, well, Thomas wolf died
(40:52):
in the I think in the thirties, so this would
have been anyway like so he writes this. He's sitting
there and he's looking at his brother and he wrote
quote the rattling and the wasted body, which seemed for
hours to have given over to death. All of life
(41:14):
that is worth saving had now ceased. The body appeared
to grow rigid before them, and then Ben breathed one
more gasp of breath, opening his eyes, rising off his pillow,
to the astonishment of Tom and his family, before passing,
as Thomas Wolfe wrote, quote instantly scornful and unafraid, as
(41:38):
he had lived into the shades of death. End quote.
But this is the thing that stuck out really for me,
he wrote. We can believe and the nothingness of life.
We can believe, and the nothingness of death and of
life after death. But who can believe in the nothingness
of Ben? You know? My favorite story by Thomas Wolfe
(42:03):
was called The Far and the Near And if you

Far and the Near. It makes you It does make
you wonder, doesn't it about our place in the universe.
(42:27):
So there's a story that came out about I guess
maybe it's genetic memory. I mean, I read this story
during the break and honestly, the story kind of sucks.
But basically, like genetic memory, is this theorized phenomenon in
which certain kinds of memories could be inherited being present
at birth in the absence of any associated sensory experience,
(42:52):
and that such memories could be incorporated into the genome
over long spans of time. And that's it. Is it
true or not? It's kind of up in the air. Still,
it's wishy washy, but we knew, we do know that
instinct exists. So I got sent this story from somebody
from Unexplained hyphen Mysteries dot com. It's called Scientists discover
(43:17):
new third state between life and death and it basically
says it's not quite Frankenstein's Monster, but the find is
likely to push the boundaries of life, death, and medicine.
Researchers have found that skin cells extracted from deceased frog
embryos were able to adapt to the new conditions of
(43:42):
a petri dish in a lab, spontaneously reorganizing into multi
cellular organisms called xenobox xenobots. This is not easy to
read nor easy to speak, Okay, so let me try
this again, Okay. Researchers found that skin cells extracted from
(44:07):
dead frog embryos were able to adapt to the new
conditions of a Patriot dish and a lab spontaneously reorganizing
into multi cellular organisms called xenobox, and these organisms exhibit
(44:29):
behaviors that extend far beyond their original biological roles. These
xenobots use their cillia, little small hair like structures to
navigate and move through their surroundings. Xenobots are also able
(44:51):
to perform kinematic self replication, meaning they can physically replicate
their structure andunction without growing. See. I don't even understand
exactly what they're talking about here. I mean, like I think,
I think what they're trying to say is that if
you break this down, you can take Okay, let's read this.
(45:19):
It says the third state challenges how scientists typically understand
cell behavior. While caterpillars metamorphosing into butterflies or tadpoles evolving
into frogs may be familiar, there are a few instances
where organisms change in ways that are not predetermined. Tumors, organoids,
(45:44):
and cell lines that can indefinitely divide in a petri
dish are not considered part of the third state because
they do not develop new functions. But I think that
what they're saying is that some of these cells are
(46:05):
able to adapt things which may be similar to the
genetic memory thing I was talking about. I'm really not certain,
you know. That's one thing about this show. I mean,
I'm not just gonna like sit here and pretend that
every story that pops up in front of me that
is interesting is something that I understand, because I mean,
(46:25):
that would be foolish, wouldn't it. I don't know, I
don't understand. I'm just as confused as you are half
the time. Well we're almost out of time, though, So
how about this. Let me leave you with this piece
of mental manner. My beautiful wife, Lauren, she just celebrated
(46:55):
a birthday. We've been together for twenty seven years, and
I bought her a really nice gift and I was
trying to figure out how to hide it from her,
and I realized that, hey, I don't know about you.

I can only speak for myself. If you want to
keep a secret from your wife, put it on top
of the refrigerator. Now. Now, granted I'm only talking about myself.
I'm six two, and Lauren, I mean you know, she's
(47:37):
she's five seven I think. I mean, so, you know,
but if you put something on top of the refrigerator,
chances are she's never going to see it. Uh. The
odds of her getting a ladder out and walking up
there to see what's on top of the fridge. I bet.
I bet the top of your refrigerator is dusty. There
(47:59):
may be a whole ecosystem living on top of that refrigerator.
So that's called that a public service announcement. That's my
advice for you on how to keep a secret from
your wife, no matter what it is, put it on
top of the refrigerator. All right. I came up with
that all by myself, Thank you very much. All Right,
