Speaker 1 (00:02):
To tease in a pod with Teddy Meloncat and camera Jedge.
So we are here exclusively our first time interviewing Andy Collen.
Wow exciting. You know what the issue is? So many
housewives have podcasts, as you may know that when I do,

(00:24):
I understand there are some that stand out from the
top of the Anyway, when I do one, then I
really feel that I need to do all of them,
which is why I haven't done this show yet. It's
like very it's a slippery slope. It's like when you
follow the house you don't really how many housewives do act.
I don't. Well, that's a really good I don't follow

(00:46):
any on Instagram. None, none, because then I have to
follow everybody. Yes, not one. If I follow one, yes,
you follow some of them. Do I have a fake No,
I don't. I have a fake account, but I don't
follow any. It's really for my Um it's to put

(01:09):
pictures of my kids off my friend followers. Yeah, yeah,
it's just I can tell us the name. It's very boring,
but you could probably figure it out. Um. Well, my
dad actually called me the other day and he goes,
who's that boss of yours that you had and I'm like, um,
Alex Basket, I didn't know, and he's like, no, the

(01:31):
one with the TV show. And I'm like Andy Cohen.
He goes, I think they asked me to do what
what happens live? I feel like you were doing it
with him that well, that's what he asked. He goes,
only if you're on with Yes, I thought that was
happening actually, But also, did you tell Tamara last night?
You go Teddy's here? Is she busting? And because yes,

(01:54):
because you weren't on my list of talent? And yes,
I did a tamera with her mouth. She told me
not to tell you. Well, of course not, that's okay
and either of mine. Yes, no, I'm here, Yes, I
know she told me to be laughed at. Do you
realize who I'm on the Project Runway panel with who

(02:17):
Chanelle on, even Marcel D. Kiley and then me clumping along?
There has to be a norm in the group. You're
the Marylyn Monster. Yeah, there's nothing word like being called
a normy or like my husband will say that I'm
wife material and like, what does that mean? I don't
think that's what I think. By the way, what I

(02:39):
think one of your assets is and in a group
of people, is that you are a voice of reason.
I would characterize you as a voice of reason, and
so I don't think that's a bad thing. Now you're
on a panel with all these fashion show stoppers. I mean,
I think you can speak from a more um ground, exactly,

(03:00):
Like you know, what's it like walking into a freaking
dinner party with Erica, Jane and Dore Like exactly. Yeah,
I'm already I'm having PTSD about it in advance because
I tried walking in the shoes and I was like, no,
I didn't crsh not looking sexy. Such a big mouth.

(03:25):
Well she didn't really say. I mean, I like your
pink hair. Thank you. Anytime I'm in a crisis, I
do something with the hair. So my next question for you,
which the listeners want to know, is why do I
get fired? Um? Why did you get fired? That's the
question you're asking me right now. I think back, when

(03:45):
did you get fired? Ask you this when you got fired?
Who came in the following season? Crystal? My friend Crystal
came in the season after you and Garcel, So it
was only I was with Oh, you were with Scar.
I feel like, you know what every I think one
of the successes of the Real Housewives franchise is that

(04:08):
for sixteen years we have been taking people in and
out of the game. And it's like the mob. Sure,
you're never truly out here. You are here, we are,
and so I feel like, you know, and you turn
up occasionally. I just feel like sometimes you gotta take
a player out of the game and keep it fresh. Well,
speaking of pauses, you somebody in the Real Housewives of

(04:31):
Beverly Hills reunion said, is that going to happen? That's
what everyone is? That what everyone wants to know. Um,
there's no Beverly Hills that we haven't we as you know,
we wait for the reunions to end and then you know,

(04:51):
to air and we sit with it and so we'll see,
we'll see where we are. We'll see where we're at.
So non answering, non answer, only not answered. All right, Well,
we love watching her and recapping her because she's just
she's something to recap. Well, especially the social media and
I was just going to say, there's a big show

(05:12):
going on off the show as well, disastrous. Well, that's
that's my question. Something that we continue to talk about
on the pod is when you bring in a housewife
like on Beverly Hills, but is so rich like a
Diana that then they're used to not showing up to
a work or whatever, like you don't get it, Like
I'm like, I was, it's office. No, it's interesting. So

(05:37):
does it change the dynamic when they come in so
powerful like a Diana that well, so powerful or so
I think too much time? In her case, she very
she very proudly said she didn't watch the show before
she came on, And I just and I think that, Um,
I kind of do based on her relationship with the show,

(05:58):
and I kind of do believe it because I know
that when it was first airing, she was not a
big fan of it and she was like, wait, this
is kind of ridiculous. And I said to Alex, has
she watched the show? And he said, no, she didn't,
And so I thought, well, I think it's always a
good idea to know what you're getting into. So did
she have COVID or she was sick? They said no?

(06:20):
Um can I say? They said she had COVID? But
how do you have there? That's a really good question.
And then there's videos of her like without like the
people without masks no, but apparently she was. Everyone. Everyone
was saying, no, Andy, she is legit because I was like,
oh really, she's like and they were like no, no, no, no, no,
she is legitimately sick. So she certainly pulled it together.

(06:43):
She looked like a million yeah, minus reading the que
cards right above that. I don't everyone saying that there
were que cards? Do you feel like so think about
when you watch houselights, do add I think about it
and I understand. But what you have to know is
I was throwing questions with her in a random order.
That would mean someone was like, get the Jeffrey Epstein, Like,

(07:07):
I don't know, she's probably expecting a couple of yes. No,
I think she was probably I don't know. I mean way,
I don't think I have to go to the press line,
all right,

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
