You'll learn why surrounding yourself with people who think differently can verify and enhance your ideas in ways you never imagined. Get ready to be inspired to embrace diverse viewpoints and meet in the middle, whether you're running a company, starting a new venture, or navigating your personal life. I promise you, when you listen to this story, you'll gain a fresh perspective on the value of teamwork and walk away with the motivation to collaborate in a whole new way. Speaker 1 (00:02):
What's up, everybody? This is the people Shark. Here Damon
John with another motivation moment for you. Courtesy of that
Moment with Damon John, a production of the Black Effect
podcast Network and Fiveheart Radio. Now Here is a great fact.
According to the Ben and Jerry website, Ben Cohen of
Ben and Jerry is the real reason that ice cream

(00:22):
flavors have such big chunks in them. He has no
sense of smell and very little sense of taste, and
when he and Jerry were developing their flavors, he loved
the texture of the big chunks. Now you may be saying, well,
how is the scenario gonna motivate me? Well, think about it.
It's a perfect example of the value of teamwork and

(00:44):
collaboration with people who don't just think the same exact
way as you do, and they have different opinions. You see,
Jerry could have been right in thinking that the smaller
chunce in their ice cream would give enough and just
smooth it out all over the ice cream. But if
Ben had struggled with getting the full taste and the

(01:07):
ice cream would have never developed its signature big chunks.
And we're all better off for it. Now, this applies
to business. You may think one thing, but you have
a whole team around you who may object because they
think of something else, and that's called innovation. You have
your unique perspective, and bringing an extra point of view

(01:30):
can both verify that your idea is a strong one
and take it even further and enhance that idea. That's
why I always say that in my company, I am
Batman and everybody else's robbing. But most of the time
I'm robbin and I let everybody else be Batman because
I work with people that are hopefully smarter than me.

(01:50):
And that's why I hire them or I partner with them,
because I respect their point of view. And so make
sure when you want to collaborate or have innovation in
your company, in your personal life, or in your new startup,
you respect other people's opinions to try to meet in
the middle, and I promise you you'll be better off

(02:10):
for it. Tune in every single Monday and Tuesday for
a new episode of That Moment with David John, brought
to you by the Black of Back podcast Network. Check
it out wherever you get your podcasts.
