  • Crime Data Manipulation in Washington, D.C.

    • The piece alleges that the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department intentionally manipulated crime statistics to make the city appear safer than it actually is.

    • A whistleblower reportedly informed the House Oversight Committee that crime reports were downgraded (e.g., stabbings and carjackings reclassified as lesser offenses).

    • Representative James Comer (House Oversight Committee Chair) is leading the investigation.

    • The Justice Department is said to be conducting its own criminal inquiry.

    • The narrative ties this issue to claims that Democrats are downplaying crime while Republicans, alongside former President Trump, aim to take tougher measures.

  • Political Framing of Crime and Law Enforcement

    • Comer argues Democrats and “liberal media” are misleading the public by claiming crime is down, despite everyday experiences suggesting otherwise.

    • He emphasizes a Republican agenda focused on “law and order,” contrasting it with Democrats’ alleged leniency (bail reform, light sentencing, etc.).

    • The Oversight Committee plans to pursue legislation in coordination with Trump and the White House to combat crime.

  • Biden “Autopen” Investigation

    • The second half shifts focus to a separate probe into President Joe Biden’s alleged use of an autopen (a device that signs documents automatically).

    • Comer and House Republicans are investigating whether Biden personally approved key documents like pardons and executive orders.

    • Witness testimony suggested limited direct interaction with Biden, raising questions about his mental fitness and who was making executive decisions.

    • Several aides invoked the Fifth Amendment when questioned, fueling suspicions of a cover-up.

    • Comer claims this raises constitutional concerns about presidential authority in Biden’s final months.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
And we've brought in a dozen people so far, and
they're all pointing the finger at other people. The ones
that I think may have a little more knowledge. They
played the fifth to avoid self incriminations.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Have you Labor Day? It is nice to have you
with us on the forty seven Morning Update, And we've
got two big stories for you. Big things happening in Washington,
DC on Capitol Hill. First up, Republicans are leading the
way investigating the crime stats of Washington, d C. Which
may have been altered or fabricated to make it look
like the city was actually safer than it really was. Also,

(00:39):
big names coming to Capitol Hill, as James Comber is
also sharing what he described as unprecedented details surrounding the
Biden autopen investigation. What did he reveal? I have it
all for you. It's the forty seven Morning Update and
it starts right now.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Story number one.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
If you're a Democrat, what is the easiest way to
make crime go down? Well, apparently it's not actually fighting crime.
You just change and alter the stats to make it
look like a city is getting safer. We now know
that the Congressional Oversight probe is official, and the House
Oversight Committee, led by Representative James Comer, has launched an

(01:17):
investigation into what they described as quote disturbing allegations that
the DC Metropolitan Police Department intentionally manipulated crime data to
paint a rosier picture of public safety than what the
reality was on the ground. Another way of putting it
is they would change and alter the way they would
report on serious crimes to make you feel like it's

(01:41):
safer of a city than it really was. How do
we know this? It was a blower reportedly told the
committee that crime statistics were manipulated on a widespread basis
and that the direction of supervisory officials potentially affecting all
seven patrol districts in the District of Columbia. The Justice

(02:01):
Department has a criminal inquiry now in the US Attorney's
Office for the District of Columbia under US Attorney Janine Pirino,
you know as Judge Janin from Fox News Channel, has
initiated a criminal investigation into whether the DC police officials
systematically quote altered crime reports to artificially suppress violent crime rates.

(02:26):
This probe was triggered by the suspension in May of
the commander who led the third District in DC and
is accused of downgrading serious instances such as stabbings and
carjackings to make the crime stats look better. Which brings
us to James Comer. He went on Fox News Channel
and a linked the interview explaining exactly what's going on.

(02:48):
I want you to hear what he had to say.
Take a listen to this.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Furthering President Trump's efforts to crack down on crime in
our nation's capital. According to a report, House Republicans already
with a slew of crime bills. The House Oversay Committee
is also launching an investigation into possible crime data manipulation.
Here now with more House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, Chairman,

(03:12):
thanks so much for joining us. Most people don't realize,
but the chairman of the OVERCAI committee has jurisdiction on
the White House. They also have jurisdiction on Washington, d C.
So this idea that these crime data had potentially been manipulated,
what have you seen? Where is this going? What are
you looking for?

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Well, first of all, for those of us who have
lived in Washington, d C. Over the past several years,
especially the past twelve months, we don't see any reduction
in crime. But yet that's been the talking point for
the liberal media, for the Democrats in Washington because they
knew that President Trump campaigned and said he would do
whatever it takes to get the crime crisis under control
in Washington, d C. So lo and behold the Washington

(03:53):
d C. Statisticians come out and say, oh, crime's down
fifty percent, carjackings are down fifty percent, when we see
on the news every day multiple carjackings, homicides every day.
The employees in our congression officers look out the window
at all hours of the night and see kids running
around spray painting, breaking things, stealing things. What we see

(04:15):
is not what the statistics reflected. So we've seen time
and time again where Democrats collude with people in the
government who do things like the census and do things
like recorded statistics, that we have reason to believe that
they've been lying about these statistics to have a talking
point to try to prevent Donald Trump from doing exactly

(04:36):
what he's doing, and that is sending the National Guardian
to control the out of control crime in Washington, d C.
So that's one thing we're working on the other thing,
as you mentioned, we're working with the White House now
on several bills that were pertaining to reining in the
out of control crime in Washington, d C. This is
based on a city that has passed excessive criminal justice

(04:57):
reform to the point to where you don't get arrested
unless you commit a murder. And we've seen time and
time again people get caught for carjacking in the morning,
they get let out, and by that afternoon and evening
they've tried to carjack again. So these are the issues
we're working with the White House, and I think September
is going to be a very busy month for the
House Oversight Committee as we work with President Trump to

(05:18):
try to pass legislation to reduce crime in Washington, d C.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Yeah, you want to see liberals and Democrats square and
wait till these bills start coming up on the floor.
Are you going to vote in favor of or against?
You know, cash list fail and these types of debates
on the floor are just going to be right because
there's one party that's for law and order, that's Republicans.
There's one party that's against it, that's the Democrats. And
when you all start putting those bills up on the
floor and you have to fort and you force people

(05:43):
to vote, that's going to be highly entertaining, and not
just entertaining, it'll be illumative. It'll illuminate the problem and
the difference between the political parties. One last quick question, Chairman,
is this also these crime statistics. I look at Chicago,
I look at al a A, California. I don't believe
that what they're doing is that something else that the

(06:05):
committee can get after, because the crime stats, I'm telling you,
they don't get they're not on there if they don't
get reported, and then they brag about how crime is down.
But everybody knows that's not true.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Everybody knows it. Whether you're in Louisville, Kentucky, whether you're
in Chicago, Illinois, all the big cities in America are
facing a crime crisis. Because we have liberal prosecutors, we
have liberal judges. We've taken criminal justice reform to the excesses.
People aren't being held accountable for crimes. Therefore more people
are committing crimes. I think if we can prove that

(06:37):
Washington d C. Has been dishonest with their statistics. We'll
take this show on the road to other cities because
we've got to get serious about crime. The American people
expect somebody to do something about it. The Democrats aren't
doing anything about it. President Trump is, and the Republicans
in Congress hopefully will be too.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
You notice one of the most important things that was
said there by James Comer was We're going to take
this show on the road. He is echoing with the
President of United States America has said, if Democrats refuse
to keep Americans safe, federal government is going to do
everything in their power to actually keep you safe, and
they're not going to back down now.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Story number two, the Joe.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Biden autopen investigation continues to heat up. The headlines describe
exactly what the game plan is of those that were
around Joe Biden and just how massive the cover up
actually is. Whether it's the AP saying quote Joe Biden
ad invokes fifth to decline testimony and investigation, or the Guardian,

(07:32):
Republican leading inquiry into Biden's autopen use, has digitally signed letters,
or even the Daily Beast James Comer announces new investigation
into Biden over the use of the auto pen Well,
we now have new information as James Comer sat down
with Fox News Sunday, and here is part of what
he had to say about it. The assessment that Biden

(07:53):
staffords are deliberately refusing to answer questions about the autopen
use and providing extraordinary levels of obfuscation. Now James Comer
seems to be really hammering in on the facts and
continuing to press the investigation into whether Biden used an
autopen to sign documents like pardons, raising major concerns about

(08:17):
who may have truly been in charge during the final days, weeks,
or months of the Joe Biden presidency. Now, in May
of this year, Comer initiated a fresh probe. He issued
letters to key aids, including many of those close to
the president in non political roles, for example, like Biden's physician,
doctor Kevin O'Connor, and warning of subpoenas if they don't cooperate.

(08:42):
Fast forward to June of this year, testimony from several
raised major red flags, some admitting limited direct interaction with
Biden and no insight into the autopen approval process, suggesting
a total lack of transparency or oversight. And then the
fifth Amendment invocations continued. On July sixteenth, a former aide

(09:06):
to First Lady Joe Biden invoked the Fifth Amendment during
his Oversight Committee appearance, becoming the second such individual in
the probe to do so. Comber responded by stating that
the public is concerned about unaccountable decision making within the
White House. In other words, who was actually in charge.
The bottom line is clear. Representative Comer asserts he now

(09:30):
has unprecedented evidence of a cover up involving the autopen
use and Biden's cognitive decline. Now, this is what he
had to say on Fox Sunday Morning. Take a listen.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
This week, the House Oversight Committee is set to continue
its investigation into Joe Biden's mental fitness during his presidency
when former White House Deputy Assistant Andrew Bates sits down
for an interview on Friday. Former White House Press Secretary
Kareeine Jean Pierre, and former White House Chief of Staff
Jeff Desience are also slated to peer before the committee

(10:04):
in coming weeks. Joining me now with more on his
investigation into former President Biden in the Chairman is the
chairman of the House Oversight Committee. Congressman James Comer, it's
great to have you with us this morning.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Welcome.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
I want to get the latest on the investigation, Congressman,
but also what we've heard so far. Key figures, taking
the fifth Key figures that day after day said that
Biden was totally fit and ready to.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Do the job.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
Now saying they really didn't spend that much time with him.
The testimony doesn't add up with what we saw. Something
is awry.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Here, something's definitely a right look. When you have Ian SAMs,
who was the face of the White House response to
the very damaging report that said that Joe Biden was
a forgetful old man. He was the face of the
White House response to our investigation Byron Donalds and myself

(11:00):
as well as all the members of the House Oversy Committee,
when we found that China had in fact wired money
to LLC's owned by Biden family members. He was the
one that would always respond and see he talked to
Joe Biden, Joe Biden was vibrant. Joe Biden did not
do this, the families doesn't. And then come to find
out when we put him under oath, he admits, well,
I only saw Joe Biden two times over a two

(11:22):
year period. That's unprecedented. We're trying to get to the
bottom of who was operating the autopen. I think what
you're going to see is less unless John Pierre and
some of these others come in and and you know,
tell us more. It's becoming very apparent that Joe Biden
really wasn't the one in command at the end of
his presidency. And that's important because you're talking about thousands

(11:44):
of pardons and dozens of executive orders that were signed
with that autopen, and it appears without President Biden's knowledge.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Very clearly James Comer sharing unprecedented details surrounding the Biden
not Open investigation and also what the White House is
doing whole people accountable as well. This is exactly what
so many Americans voted for and why I think there's
many in Washington right now, in the Deep State that
are very concerned about what's happening.
