Trump-Putin Summit on Ukraine War

  • Former President Donald Trump has announced a major summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, scheduled for August 15th in Alaska.
  • The summit's goal is to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine, with Trump hinting at possible territorial swaps.
  • This would be the first U.S.-hosted summit with a Russian leader since 1988, and the first Trump-Putin face-to-face since 2019.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed concern, emphasizing that Ukraine must be part of any peace deal and rejecting any territorial concessions.
  • NATO and EU leaders also insist on Ukraine’s inclusion and oppose forced territorial changes.
  • The White House has not ruled out a trilateral summit including Zelensky, but no formal invitation has been extended yet.
  • Trump had previously set an August 8th deadline for Putin to agree to a ceasefire or face sanctions, which was not met.
  • The meeting is portrayed as a legacy-defining moment for Trump, testing his ability to broker peace.

FBI Shakeup and Accountability

  • Cash Patel, reportedly now FBI Director, is said to be “cleaning house” at the FBI, removing officials involved in politically charged investigations.
  • Dan Bongino, Deputy Director, and Patel emphasize defending FBI employees who acted appropriately.
  • Brian Driscoll and Walter Giordina, involved in investigations against Trump allies, were among those forced out.
  • The narrative suggests these removals are part of a broader effort to address politicization and corruption within the FBI.
  • Miranda Devine, a Fox News contributor, supports the changes, citing long-standing scandals and political bias.
  • Pam Bondi, Attorney General, has appointed Ed Martin as a special prosecutor to investigate Adam Schiff and Letitia James for alleged fraud.
  • Grand juries are reportedly convened in Maryland and Virginia, with potential charges carrying up to 30 years in prison.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Story number one.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
It is official. Donald Trump is announced a major meeting
with Vladimir Putin. It's a high stakes meeting over the
Ukraine War and is certainly one that will be a
big part of his legacy. Even Russians are now cheering
Vladimir Putin's invitation to Alaska, and there does seem to
be real optimism, as NATO's security general says they are

(03:52):
optimistic about Trump meeting with Putin as well. Zelensky also
getting in on the action, saying, quote, we will not
let Russia deceived the US now. President Trump announced this
via his platform True Social that he's gonna meet with
Vladimir Putin on Friday, August fifteenth in Alaska, marking the
first face to face summit between the two since twenty nineteen,

(04:16):
and the first such US hosted summit of a leader
from Russia since nineteen eighty eight. The purpose very simple.
The summit aims to discuss ending the war in Ukraine,
and Trump even hinted the deal could involve some swapping
of territories quote unquote.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Now.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
The meeting follows the deadline Trump set around August eighth
for Putin to agree to a cease fire or face
major secondary sanctions, though no concrete seas fire agreement was
reached by then. The Ukrainian position is this President Zelensky
firmly declaring that Ukraine will not seed any territory. He

(04:55):
emphasized that any peace deal must include Ukraine and be
just and lasting. Now Europe is also getting in on
this action. Leaders from the EU, including France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Poland,
Finland and the European Commission, demanded that Ukrainians must be

(05:16):
part of the negotiations and fiercely opposed any force territorial
changes when it comes to Ukraine. Then there's the diplomatic
pressure that is coming in. NATO's Security General said, Trump
will be quote testing Putin in the meeting a crucial
gauge of Putin's seriousness towards the issue of peace. So far,

(05:39):
he has not really been in favorite peace at all,
and that's part of why this meeting is so vitally important.
There is even the prospecting, certainly in the media, for
the inclusion of Zelenski. While the meeting is currently bilateral,
the White House says they have quote not ruled out
a trilateral summit including However, as of now, there has

(06:02):
been no formal invitation that has been extended to Zolensky.
And you may ask yourself the question why my White
House insiders are telling me they believe that it's time
for Donald Trump to be in the room with Putin
to see where they are and if they are even
close to a real possibility of peace. Before you bring

(06:22):
Zelensky into the room. There's also things that need to
be said between the President United States of American and
Vladimir Putin on what ramfications there will be on Russia
if they do not come to the table and actually
advocate for peace. Which brings me back to Zelensky. Zolensky
saying on Sunday that his country will not let Russia

(06:44):
deceive the US as this meeting between the two looms,
saying quote, of course, our team is working with the
United States. Not a single day goes by without communication
on how to ensure real peace. We understand Russia's intention
to try to deceive America. We will not allow out this.
Zelensky went on to say, quote, I greatly value the
determination with which President Trump is committed to bringing an

(07:08):
end to the killing in this war that coming from
his official office. Now, in his first few months back
in office, Trump and his administration have push for an
end to the war in Ukraine. Unfortunately, Vladimir Putin seemed
not interested in that at all. Then, Trump said last
week he's going to meet with Putin in Alaska and
hosting him for the talks and also letting him know

(07:29):
what the real landscape looks like moving forward, the highly
anticipated meeting between myself and President of the United States
of America and President Vladimir Putin of Russia will take
place next Friday in the Great State of Alaska. Further
details to follow. Thank you for your attention to this matter,
Trump said in the True Social Platform. In the Sunday address,

(07:51):
Zelensky also said that each day many people are giving
their lives, but the sole root cause of these killings
is Putin's desire to win a war and manipulate everyone
he comes in contact with, Zelenski adding, we in Ukraine
know Russia well, and that is why, in extremely difficult
circumstances Ukrainians have endured more than three years of full

(08:14):
scale war. We will certainly defend our state and our independence.
I think everyone who is helping, which brings us back
to the legacy aspect of this meeting. There's no doubt
this will be a big part of Donald Trump's legacy.
And the question is does he have enough leverage over
Vladimir Putin to get this deal done, because it's very

(08:34):
clear that Vladimir Putin's not coming in looking for peace. Well,
we know how successful the President has been in the
past at getting other countries to do deals together, and
there's a very good chance of the man who is
the master of the art of the deal. Hopefully we'll
be able to save lives and get this deal done now.
Story number two, Cashpattel seems to be cleaning house at

(08:58):
the FBI. Yes, yes, that's exactly what is happening now
is Patel has decided is time to make sure he
has good people working there. We're into divine went on
Maria Bartiromo's show on Fox News Sunday and had this
to say about what's going on at the FBI. You
also hear some audio from Dan Bongino and Cash Pttel

(09:20):
in an earlier interview they did at the very beginning,
I want you to listen carefully to what they're saying
about what we're doing now.

Speaker 5 (09:26):
To get to the bottom of something like January sixth,
in the pipe bomber case, for example, you need three things.
You need people, you need information, and you need people
with information. I'll allow the public to put that together
and just wait and you'll see nothing we're doing. Nothing
is by accident.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
Dan, and I've already told the FBI every employee that
acted appropriately. We are going to defend you to the hill, literally,
no matter the consequences. And that was FBI Director Cash
Purtel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino with me and my
exclusive on the FBI back in May earlier this year.
As more heads rolled at the FBI this past week,
former FBI Acting Director Brian Driscoll and Special Agent Walter

(10:07):
Giardina were forced out, among others. Forced out. Driscoll oversaw
the January sixth investigation, while Giordina worked on cases against
President Trump and Peter Navarro, the trade executive in the
White House who was ultimately convicted and sent to prison.
During me now with more on all of this as
near close Palmist and Fox News contributor Miranda Devine, Miranda,

(10:29):
great to see you. Literally, it's been a decade of
scandals led by the Democrats. But first get you you
want to get your take on these FBI changes. First
they promoted Driscoll and then they asked him to leave.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Yes, and also Stephen Jensen and Walter Giardina, and these
people were all involved in the politicization of the FBI
under Joe Biden and Christopher Ray, attacking and persecuting Trump.
Allies and people who had worked for Trump, including the

(11:02):
Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon being jailed for contempt of
Nancy Pelosi effectively and the January sixth defendants. Stephen Jensen
was in charge of the most over zealous prosecution persecution
investigation of these Trump allies, and so I think it

(11:26):
was long overdue.

Speaker 5 (11:27):
Really.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
I was surprised that they lasted as long as they did.
But I think it's great that finally Cash Patel has
cleaned house. And I assume and your interview with Patel
and Dan Bongino is the only record of this, But
there was method in the madness that there was a
reason to keep them close for the first six months

(11:51):
and now to remove them summarily.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Marie, do what's your chake and what we're seeing? Are
we finally seeing some signals of some accountability. We've been
waiting for accountability from the Russia collusion nonsense to the
impeachments of Trump, the laptop from how how do you
see things now?

Speaker 1 (12:09):
That's a really good question, Maria, and I think we're
seeing really positive signs. There just seems to be a systematic,
very orderly procession of investigations and subpoenas and grand juries.
We saw on Friday that Leticia James, the Attorney General

(12:30):
of New York, who prosecuted Trump every which way she
could find, as well as the notorious Adam Schiff, who
of course was now is a Senator, but then was
a congressman who led a lot of the Russia hoax
nonsense back in Trump's first term, and is really somebody

(12:52):
like Letitia James who continues to mouth the refrain no
one is above the law. Well, they've found out that
they're not above the law. Because Pam Bondi, the Attorney
General appointed on Thursday night Ed Martin as the special
Attorney to investigate these two, he can bring up grand

(13:15):
juries wherever he likes, and he's done so. Grand Juries
are looking at Adam Schiff and Leticia James in Maryland
and in Virginia on allegations of mortgage fraud, also bank
fraud and wire fraud. And these charges, if convicted on them,
they would serve up to thirty years in jail. So

(13:38):
it's a serious accountability.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
A serious accountability, that is all that we're asking for here,
is it? You take a look at all of this
and you say, were their actual laws that were broken.
That is what Miranda Devine is saying, is a real
possibility that there are real laws that were broken, real
corruption that we can clearly see. And because there is

(14:02):
real corruption, there are real laws that may have been broken,
there should be accountability. This is all that the President
United States of America has been asking for, which is, hey, FBI,
do your job. Take a look at all of these things,
see what happened, and if there is something there, hold
those accountable for their actions. Now, you look at the

(14:26):
weaponization of our government, the weaponization of our deep state.
You look at how it was weaponized to take out
political opponents. You'll get Letitia James. You look at those
in around Biden. You look at so many that were
just involved in incredible levels of corruption, and they all
thought they could get away with it because no one
would ever come knocking. Remember, they were the ones that

(14:48):
were knocking on the doors, raiding people's homes, even going
into the President of the United States of America's house.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Never ever forget that.
