Speaker 1 (00:01):
There is a rumor right now that the media and
the Democratic Party are pushing that Donald Trump is a disaster.
His approval rating is a disaster, The Republican Party is
a disaster. His supporters are fleeing, they're angry with him,
and everything's terrible. We've got data to show that that
is nothing but political propaganda from state sponsored media. How

(00:23):
do we know this, well, get ready to use this
around the dinner table with your woke liberal family members
when they tell you that Donald Trump.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Is a disaster, it's a lie.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
President Donald Trump now enjoys a fifty percent approval rating,
with a net approval rating of plus nine points, according
to the latest pulling from Insider Advantage. The national poll
of eight hundred likely voters conducted on Saturday finds that
fifty percent of respondents approved of the president's performance eleven

(00:55):
months into his administration. Another forty one percent disapprove of
the job Trump is done, while nine percent are undecided.
That is significant. The poll shows that a substantial majority
of men give Trump positive remarks, while most women disapprove
of his performance. So there is an issue on sex
here which Democrats will never figure out because they don't

(01:16):
even know what the definition of a woman or a
man is.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
They can't define it.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
So like the good news is as long as they're
fighting over that, we're probably gonna be okay. We are
seeing trends in the polling ahead of the midterm elections
coming all right. Of men surveyed, fifty nine percent are
happy with the president's performance. Thirty four percent disapprove. Why

(01:40):
are men so with the president? I'm going to explain
it very simply. Men like decisive action from leaders. They
just want to know what they're dealing with, even if
it's something they disagree with. Men don't like ambiguity from
any leader. They they just want to know what's happening.

(02:03):
They want to know what's going on. They want to know.
If something is going to be different, then tell them
it's going to be different.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
That is all they care about.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Especially in business now, with Donald Trump, it's clear that
men feel like he's in charge. It's very clear they
feel like he's doing the right thing. He's keeping them safe,
he's working on their businesses. He's trying to lower taxes.
He's trying to make it easier for them to run
their businesses with deregulation.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
They're are a.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Significant number of things, okay, a significant number of things
that men are saying. I'm behind that, I like it.
I think this is great news. That's number one. I
want to be very clear now, of the thirty nine
percent of men that don't like the president, most of

(02:57):
those are going to be hardcore leftists, woke libers.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Okay, that's just who they're going to be.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
They're going to be woke liberals, and and they're going
to be people that we're never going to vote for
them anyway, no matter what. And that's just the way
that was going to work. So no one should be
surprised by that. Okay, everyone should understand it that this
is just how it's going to be. I think this
is amazing for the president having approval rating landing at

(03:24):
fifty nine points above water and then people say, oh, no,
this is somehow a disaster.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
No it is not.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Now Trump is even is even, by the way, with
voters under forty, that is significant because usually younger voters
are woke liberal people. Now we're finding out that's also
not the case anymore. There's a lot of people under
forty that just want a present that supports them and
allow them to grow and make more money to be
able to buy a house. For example, home buying experience

(03:53):
under the Bide administration was a disaster, the highest age
we've ever seen for first time home buyers, interest rates
out of control. People felt like they're being left behind.
That is the reason why Trump is even with under
forty voters. That should usually be a negative for Republican
candidates because they feel like the president's actually rooting for them,
not against them. Something else that's interesting here is Democrats

(04:20):
have a very worrying issue because not only is Trump
even with voters under forty, but he enjoys a net
positive approval rating among voters forty and up. That is
a problem for Democrats heading into the midterms because what
they're also saying of voters is like, hey, I may
not be jumping up and down as independent for Trump,

(04:41):
but at least I know what he's going to do,
and I stand with him on a lot of the issues.
Or fifty percent plus one more than the Democratic Party,
which is a socialist party all over the place, Trump
has a forty four percent approval rating among those ages
eighteen to thirty nine. That is a massive number for
republic Forty four percent of the demographic disapproves. That's not surprising.

(05:04):
Of those eighteen to thirty nine. When you're younger, you
don't pay as much taxes, you're a little more woke,
you're a little more kumbayah. You're coming out of college
where they've indoctrinated you, and a lot of times you'll
go against sanity and you want handouts and free government stuff,
and you live in this utopia like, well, everybody should
get everything for free. College should be free, and we
should get free health care and all those things.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Right.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
So the fact that the present eighteen to thirty nine
is at forty four percent forty four percent approval rating
and forty four percent disapproval is incredible. There's also something
else in that that's really important. That that's those that
are in essence independent or have no opinion. It is
at thirteen percent. That is significant. Now, of those between

(05:48):
forty and sixty four, okay, fifty four percent give Trump
a positive grade while thirty nine percent give them a
negative one. Almost a year into his first term in office,
I'm going to say that again, of those between forty
to sixty four, this is where Donald Trump eats. This
is where conservative candidates usually have their best polling number.

(06:11):
Fifty four percent say yes, we give him a positive grade,
thirty nine percent given negative.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
That's almost a year into his term.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
That means that people are not only just standing with
the president, but they actually believe that what he's doing
is working and it's and we're past the tryout period.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
As a way I could describe it now.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
If you look at political affiliation, this is another one
of the big lies that's been out there, that's been
told by the media and the Democratic Party, and that
is that Donald Trump is somehow losing support among his
own party. That's just a lie, all right. Donald Trump
earns an eighty four percent approval rating among Republicans and

(06:51):
at twenty five percent approval rating among Democrats. So if
you're going to election day and twenty five percent of
Democrats are looking at Trump's policies in a positive light,
that is a disaster poll for Democrats. I want you
to understand that eleven percent, by the way Republicans say
they are dissatisfied with Trump's performance.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
That is again not surprising.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Many of them may disapprove with the President on a
multitude of different things. One of the issues that's probably
in there. It would be my guess is his support
and standing by Israel. There is a section of the
conservative movement that is anti Semitic right now. I believe
there's a large chance that eleven percent of that is
going to be in that. You know, America only who

(07:34):
cares about Israel, We hate the Jews kind of you know,
the Nick Fointes, the Tucker Carlson, the Candas Owens, part
of the Republican Party. That's where that eleven percent is
probably coming from. That's why they're saying they're dissatisfied with
Trump's performance.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Now, there's also.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Some that may be in that group that are against
them in the oil and gas industry. Why oil and
gas is not where the industry wants it to be.
The President has put the oil gas prices lower than
what the industry would like. So I know people in
the ol gas industry they're very upset with the president
because they want gas or oil prices to go up
so they can make more money. Right now, there's a

(08:13):
lot of areas where you can drill, and a lot
of areas where there's drilling that's expensive that financially is
not feasible. So they're upset because they have these leases,
they have this equipment, and they're not making money off
of these areas where if oil was another twenty five
dollars a barrel higher, they'd be killing it, right, So
this is a this is some of those people.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Are in that industry.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
By the way, I bought a premium unleaded gasoline today
for two point fifty to a gallon, like not eighty seven.
All right, I'm talking about the ninety three octane the premium.
That is crazy how fast the president has gotten that
that low because I was paying more than that much
higher than that for the cheap stuff for the eighty

(08:53):
seven octane when Biden was present. Now I'm paying for
the premium the ninety three at that level. That's just incredible.
So there's some of the politics involved in there. You're
never going to get one hundred percent approve rating within
your own party, but being an eighty nine percent within
your party is pretty impressive. Now here's the part that
matters for the midterms. Trump is narrowly okay underwater with

(09:16):
independent and unaffiliated likely voters. Thirty seven percent of independence
view Trump's performance positively. Forty one percent give them a
negative grade. Twenty two percent have no opinion. Can Donald
Trump improved there? Yes, I think no tax on tips,
no taxes so security, no tax on overtime. Those are
three issues that once they're implemented come the beginning of

(09:38):
the new year, that's going to bring I think some
of those under those numbers and independence and unaffiliated voters
up because they're going to see way more money in
their paycheck every month or every week or every two weeks.
And that's where it's like, oh, okay, yeah, the other party,
Joe Biden never did this for me. I'm now a
big fan of this policy. I don't want to let

(09:59):
it go. That's literally changing my life now. The Insider
Advantage poll also showed stronger numbers for the president than
those reflected in the real polling national average. Now that's
where they take multiple polls, they average them together, all right,
that finds some of the forty four percent approval rating
and a fifty three percent disapproval rating as of early
Monday afternoon. I do believe that some of those polls

(10:21):
are just skewed heavily against the president. That's the reason
why I'm not as worried and I go back to
the main point here.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Donald Trump has made it clear.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
That his job is to make life easier for everyone.
His job is for you to be able to make
it on your own in life without the government ruining
it for you. He believes that the government shouldn't be
your sugar daddy. He believes the government shouldn't be subsidizing
you all the time. That's the other reason why the

(10:52):
President of United States of America is doing it this way.
And I really, really, really genuinely appreciate the present doing
it this way.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Operation Overlord, the D Day Beaches.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
You and I share a passion for history, so I
hope you'll join me next spring on the D Day
Beaches in Normandy. That's right, the invasion that sealed Hitler's doom.

on to another issue, and that is the President. The
other night when he addressed the nation. You may have
noticed he didn't talk about Venezuela. He didn't talk about

(12:11):
going after the cartels, he didn't talk about shipbuilding, he
didn't talk about those types of issues. And there was
a lot of people that were expecting it, and he
didn't do it. Why because he wanted to focus on
the economy and the issues that I just talked about.
But what the President is doing is making a special
announcement in mar A Lago.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
And next to him.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Is the Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the Secretary
of War Pete Hedgseth, and the President United States of
America came out just a few moments ago, and I
want you to hear what he had to say.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
So first renderings of what we're doing. So I want
to wish everybody a big hello and Merry Christmas, and
welcome to mar A Lago for this exciting announcement of
the new Golden Fleet. We're calling it the Golden Fleet
that we're building for the United States Navy. As you know,
we're desperately in need of ships. Our ships are some

(13:04):
of them have gotten old and tired and obsolete, and
we're going to go to the exact opposite direction. We're
delighted to be joined by Secretary of War Pete Hegseath's
doing a fantastic job, and Secretary of the Navy John
Falin Marco Rubio is here, who gave a great few
words for the end of last week. He spoke for

(13:27):
a couple of hours on what a good job we're doing,
which is true. As Commander in Chief, it is my
great honor to announce that I have approved a plan
for the Navy to begin the construction of two brand new,
very large, largest we've.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Ever built battleships.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
You know, you used to build the Iowa, the Missouri,
the Wisconsin, the Alabama, and many others.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
We had big battleships.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
These are bigger, but they will have one hundred times
the There'll be one hundred times the force, the power,
and there's never been anything like these ships. These have
been under design consideration for a long time and it
started with me in my first term because they.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Said, why aren't we doing battleships like we used to?

Speaker 4 (14:19):
And the these are the best in the world, will
be the fastest, the biggest, and by far one hundred
times more powerful than any battleship ever built. So if
you look at the Iowa, the Missouri, Wisconsin, Alabama, and others,
but they were similar in size. Some are a little bit
bigger than the others, but if you take the biggest one,

(14:42):
it's one hundred times more powerful. They are longer by
a little bit, but the and they're bigger. They're bigger ships,
but they hold much more. They use the word lethality.
Battleships are the largest, sturdiest, and most armed vessel built
specifically for naval combat. While America has built many new

(15:05):
warships over the years, they've been they've tended to be
smaller and much smaller and not conducive to where we
are and where we're going and peace through strength. But
including we've been building aircraft carriers. We're going to be
upping that. Also, we're going to be going to a

(15:28):
superior aircraft.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
We have the Ford Class.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
We're going to be upping that to a different class
of aircraft carrier.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
And we haven't built.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
The battleship since nineteen ninety four. These cutting edge vessels
will be some of the most lethal surface warfare ships.
It will be actually the most ever built. Other than
our submarines. We have submarines which will have in many
ways even more lethality, and we have many of them
under construction. Each one of these will be the largest

(16:04):
battleship in the history of our country, the largest battleship
in the history of the world ever built. And again
it's one hundred times more powerful than the previous Iowa
class it's called. Those are the big ones that you'd
see on a show Victory at Sea. I don't know
if anyone seeing Victory at Sea, but it was a classic.
They'll help maintain American military supremacy, revive the American shipbuilding industry,

(16:29):
and inspire fear in America's enemies all over the world.
We want respect, We're going to have it. We already
have it more respected now than we ever were a
year and a half ago, they laughed at us. Now
they respect us again at levels that they've never respected us.
We envisioned that these two ships were talking about ten,

(16:49):
but we're going to start with two, and we're going
to quickly morph into ten, and ultimately we think it's
going to be anywhere from twenty to twenty five of these.
But we're starting with the first two immediately. We're going
to then be very quickly involved with I think we're
going to do another eight, and then we're going to
ultimately and pretty quickly have a total of about twenty

(17:12):
to twenty five.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Will make that determination.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
We envisioned that these ships will be the first of
a whole new class of battleships to be produced in
the years to come. From Theodore Roosevelt the Great White Fleet,
you remember that, the Great White Fleet, to the legendary
USS Missouri whose massive guns helped win World War Two.

(17:37):
America's battleships have always been unmistakable symbols of national power.
We stopped making them for whatever reason, I don't know.
And I want to congratulate John Thalen, who is your
Secretary Secretary of the name.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
He came to me.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
The first day we met, he talked about battleships.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
And I said, your appsent on the right track.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
He said, why are we doing other things? We have missiles,
which are much more expensive. By the way, these battleships
have tremendous numbers of missiles, but they also have guns,
and in many ways, guns can do the trick just
as well as missiles at a tiny fraction of the coast.
Once completed, these new thirty to forty thousand ton plus

(18:24):
vessels will be the flagships of the American Naval fleet,
and they'll be never There has never been anything built.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Like them, never been anything built like them. Trump Class destroyers.
He's got the renderings up. It truly is incredible. This
is now what the President's saying about totally revitalizing our military.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
Let me just say, this is exactly what I voted for.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
President Donald Trump, speaking from mar A Lago, talking about
building our military new ships that our military desperately needs,
and not just talking about that, but clearly being the
most transparent president in modern political history. At a more
than fifty minute press conference, the president took questions about

(19:13):
building the new Golden Fleet, about the Golden Fleet counters
with China intercepting drugs on land and what could happen
with possible attacks on land, what he was going to
do with the seased oil of oil tankers coming out
of Venezuela and the Black Fleet of oil tankers that
also deal with Iran. He also was asked about Venezuela

(19:35):
and US oil companies working together, and he was asked
about Bill Clinton and Jeffrey Epstein a workforce to build
the Golden Fleet that will help American workers. The endgame
with Maduro was also covered. He was asked about Colombia
and the president there and could that be next after
Venezuela and a new envoy to Greenland. He was asked

(19:58):
about the war with Ukraine and rusas show had he's
spoken with Vladimir puter Zelenski recently and what do they say?
And then the pursuit of other oil tankers came up.
Would America continued to push forward with that and is
the goal of Forstman Duro from power. He also talked
about healthcare insurers meetings and exactly what had happened there

(20:21):
now the President making it clear there is nothing he
is unwilling to discuss. There's no question that he is saying, no,
I'm not going to answer that. This is part of
the president being the most transparent president in modern political history.
One of the big questions was about the Epstein files,
and there was an awful lot of pictures that came

(20:42):
out of a former president by the name of Bill
Clinton with Jeffrey Epstein. The President's response may be one
that will surprise you. I want you to hear what
he had to say.

Speaker 5 (20:53):
Thank you, mister president. Were you surprised by the number
of photos of Bill Clinton and the Epstein files? And
you can you commit to their And we've pride in
the number of photos of Bill Clinton in the Epstein files,
and can you commit to their full release by the
end of the year. Some of the victims were protesting
that too many of them were retacted.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
I know there are a lot of people that are
angry about all of the pictures of other people, you know,
but I think it's terrible. But look, I don't like
the I like Bill Clinton. I've always gotten along with
Bill Clinton. They've been nice to him, he's been nice
to me. We've always gotten along respect him. I hate
to see photos come out of him, But this is
what the Democrats, mostly Democrats, and a couple of bad

(21:31):
Republicans are asking for so they give me their photos
of me too. Everybody was friendly with this guy, either
friendly or not friendly.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
But then you know he was around.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
He was all over Palm Beach and other places. The
head of Harvard was his best friends Larry Summers, and
Bill Clint was a friend of his, but everybody was
I actually threw him out of mare A Lago and
as I you know, as a person who was in
Mara Alago, I threw him at of mar A Lagos.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
This is mar Alaga.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
It's the hottest place, and I think it's the hardest
place in the world. But it's the hottest place in Florida.
And everybody would come here, he'd come here. We actually
threw them out. But no, I don't like the pictures
of Bill Clinton being shown. I don't like the pictures
of other people being shown. I think it's a terrible thing.
I think Bill Lynton's a big boy, he can handle it.

(22:17):
But you probably have pictures being exposed of other people
that innocently met Jeffrey Epstein years ago, many years ago,
and they're you know, highly respected bankers and lawyers, and others,
and they'll end up because of guys like Massw's a
real low life. His falls it down to about nine percent.
By the way, the great state of Kentucky. If you

(22:39):
look at Kentucky, Kentucky is such a great place, but
I don't know. They've got a couple of people in
there that are very strange in terms of leadership. With
Massey's a loser and he likes it, and that he
works with the Democrats. He's just being used by the
Democrats because what this whole thing is with Epstein is

(22:59):
a way of trying to deflect from the tremendous success
that the Republican Party has, Like for instance, today we're
building the biggest ships in the world, most powerful ships
in the world, and they're asking me questions about Jeffrey Epstein.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
I thought that was finished.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
I believe they gave over one hundred thousand pages of
documents and there is tremendous back list. It's an interesting
question because a lot of people are very angry that
pictures are being released of other people that really had
nothing to do with Epstein, but they're in a picture
with him because he was at a party and you
ruin a reputation of somebody. So a lot of people

(23:34):
are very angry that this continues.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
A lot of Republicans are.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
Angry because of the fact that it's just used to
deflect against the tremendous success Look.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
We have eight the president talking about those tremendous successes
and yet again having to deal with the Epstein files
that have been released. The President wanting to talk about
other issues as well. One of the things he talked
about is about American investment. This is one of the
things he says is really important that he's working on.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
We're doing a great job and we enjoy doing it.
Our border is secure, our country is strong. Trillions of
dollars is coming into our country from other countries and companies.
They're building factories and plants, including auto plants, all over
the United States of America. Without tariffs, they wouldn't be
doing anything. Although they were very happy with the November

(24:26):
fifth election, but it's only because they want to avoid
paying tariffs that they're all coming in. And again, the
biggest number was three trillion dollars in history.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
That was China many years ago.

Speaker 4 (24:37):
Now it's eighteen trillion dollars, and that's just in ten months,
we think we could hit twenty trillion dollars. That's investment
in the United States, including plant and equipment.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
So you listen to the present talk about the investment.
He also talked about protecting Americans when it comes to drugs.
Something else that he says a very important point of
his administry and it's something that we must stand firm on.
Part of that is dealing with the cocaine coming out
of Colombia. The President asked about Colombian here's what he said, Yeah, go.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Ahead, please.

Speaker 6 (25:14):
So in response to the United States taking sanction oil
from from Venezuela, Colombian President Gustavo Petro criticize the United
States by saying, well, the Southwest has stolen land and
that it should be returned to Latin America. I just
wanted to know what your response to that.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
Well, he has to watch because you know, he's got
drug factors. They make cocaine in Colombia and he's no
friend of the United States. He's very bad, very big guy,
and he's got to watch his ass because he makes
cocaine and they send it into the United States of
America from Colombia. We love the Colombian people.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
I love the Colombian people.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
They're great people, energetic, smart, great But their new leader
is a troublemaker, and he better watch it. You better
close up those cocaine facts. If at least three major
cocaine factories we know where they are, he better close
them up fast.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
Yet, he better closed them up fast. The President also
wasn't done there, as he talked about this major important
announcement that deals with the Golden Fleet of battleships, saying
these are the best in the world in long overdue.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
So I want to wish everybody a big hello and
merry Christmas, and welcome to mar A Lago for this
exciting announcement of the new Golden Fleet. We're calling at
the Golden Fleet that we're building for the United States Navy.
As you know, we're.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Desperately in need of ships.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
Our ships are some of them have gotten old and
tired and obsolete, and we're going to go to the
exact opposite direction. We're delighted to be joined by Secretary
of War Pete Hegseath is doing a fantastic job, and
Secretary of.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
The Navy John Fhalen.

Speaker 4 (26:57):
Marco Rubio is here who gave a great a few words.
For the end of last week, he spoke for a
couple of hours on what a good job we're.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
Doing, which is true.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
As Commander in chief, it's my great honor to announce
that I have approved a plan for the Navy to
begin the construction of two brand new, very large, the
largest we've ever built battleships. You know, you used to
build the Iowa, the Missouri, the Wisconsin, the Alabama, and
many others.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
We had big battleships.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
These are bigger, but they will have one hundred times
There will be one hundred times the force, the power,
and there's never been anything like these ships. These have
been under design consideration for a long time, and it
started with me in my first term because they said,

(27:54):
why aren't we.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
Doing battleships like we used to?

Speaker 4 (27:57):
And the these are the best in the world. It
will be the fastest, the biggest, and by far one
hundred times more powerful than any battleship ever built. So
if you look at the Iowa, the Missouri, Wisconsin, Alabama,
and others, but they were similar in size, some a
little bit bigger than the others.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
But if you.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Take the biggest one, it's one hundred times more powerful.
They are longer by a little bit, but the and
they're bigger. They're bigger ships, but they hold much more.
They use the word lethality. Battleships are the largest, sturdiest,
and most heavily armed vessel built specifically for naval combat.

(28:42):
While America has built many new warships over the years,
they've they've tended to be smaller and much smaller, and
not conducive to where we are and where we're going
and peace to restrength.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
President Trump yet again saying A, I'll talk about anything. B.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
I'm going to keep you safe. C.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
I'm gonna make sure that we bring jobs back to
this country. Making this fleet be built in America, something
we stopped doing, and we're far too reliant on foreign
countries for our ship making. This is all part of
his plan to put America first and from a national
security standpoint, and the President saying I'll stand here and

(29:27):
answer as many questions as I need to. It's important
that you have a president that's transparent, and that is
exactly what Donald Trump did yet again on a multitude
of issues. Don't forget Share this podcast wherever you can
with your family and your friends, and I'll see you
back here tomorrow.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
