Speaker 1 (00:00):
I listen to The Black Guy Who Tips Podcast because
Rod and Karen are hot.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hey, welcome to a very special episode of The Black
Guy Tips Podcast.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
I'm your host Rod, joined us always by my co.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Host Kieren, and I'm you know, this is not about
a drug. This ain't one of them special episodes, but
it is a special episode. No one got you know,
nobody got shot, No one got shot.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
But no, this is a We decided to do this
because I figured some of y'all might want us to
explain it or need help or you know, in case
he didn't hear it on the regular show. But we're
currently having our annual holiday Cell aka the Black Guy
Who Tips Friday seal aka African American Friday, you know,
(00:47):
the annual Black Friday Who Tips whatever you want to
call it, call it. But we're having our annual Cell
right now and it goes on until the ninth, so
you got five more days. Many people have signed up already.
Many people are already signed up, so they're just renewing
their memberships. But we do have a Patreon now there's
(01:08):
some different options.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
People are gifting things.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
So I was like, man, maybe it's because I'm getting
a lot of emails at questions which I prefer, you know,
email me the blackoutos at gmail dot com.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
I can walk walk you through it.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
But I was like, oh, maybe people want some like
some some frequently asked questions things, some evergreen content. Maybe
we can even run this next year if nothing changes.
So we're going to go into the Black Friday at
holiday Black Friday, Who tips.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
African American Friday stuff? Yes, of course.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
The official webinars show is folding chairs and unofficial sports.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
The bulletball Extreme, all the all.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
The stuff is in the show notes, including how to
take advantage of our Black Friday cell. I think the
first thing is why do we do to sell and why?
You know, it's basically why we do premium, right, So
we do this sell once a year, and what it
gives you is this, Typically it costs fifteen dollars a
(02:14):
month to get behind our paywall.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
And you get a bunch of shows. I mean, we
do a lot of work.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yeah, particularly if you get it through the website. We
have thousands of shows behind the paywall, even shows that
we don't even do anymore. You have access to that
if you sign up through the regular page.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yes, forget let's not get into details. Yeah, we'll get
into that, but but yes, we do so much behind
the paywall, like more than your average show does.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
In front of their paywall. We do behind our paywall.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
We have shows like Balls, the Sports, the pregame, the Nerdoff,
Spoil Move, reviews which you get the day of the review,
lip smacking good, Medium Talk which is interviews, Walking There, recaps,
Gamer Thrown recaps, even our it's too much, this too
much with Bosi, Like there's just so much stuff back
(03:08):
there all on our website. And so that's one of
the things you get, which is a great deal to
sign up for. That's normally fifteen dollars a month. Some
people pay that just you know, that's what they signed
up for. Some people just want to support us more.
They want us to get as much money as possible.
They're like fifteen a month, that's nothing. The other option,
typically throughout the year is one hundred and fifty dollars
(03:29):
for the whole year, which is more like around ten
dollars a month or something like that. I forget the
exact amount, but you know, so that's another way to
support us.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
But once a.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Year we have an annual seal, and the annual seal
is one hundred dollars for the whole year, which comes
out to like eight dollars and thirty three cents a
month for twelve months.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
We do twelve months for the work. This is not
a you sign up for this and you'll be.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Like, man, they stop making pie as six months into
what I was doing.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
We've been doing this sale for years.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yes, and also for those of you that are premium,
sometimes when we don't do the regular show, y'all.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Still get shipped.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yeah, well that's really more of a for those of
y'all that's not premium that we're like, the premium people
still get stuff normally, Like we try to make sure
we do something for the people that pay behind the paywall,
so that so that's one of the benefits of signing up.
That's what you get, basically a thirty three percent discount
(04:31):
and it supplied, you know, for the whole year. Uh
and if you do it through our website, it renews annually.
I'm working on a Patreon because I'm not one hundred percent.
This is our first year working with Patreon, so I'm
gonna work on it to make sure that when you
guys go to renew next year, you still get that
same deal if you continue to stay. But I don't
know how to make it work right now, but I
(04:52):
will figure it out.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
So yeah, so you got that.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
And then obviously the reason that it helps is that
it's more sustainable for our budget in that it's good
to know there's this amount of money coming in. It's
this amount of money going directly into the bank account
that we're gonna be working with for a year for
(05:17):
this person, you know what I mean. So like this
annual influx of cash into our into our you know,
operating budget for the Blackout Tips podcast and the Blackout
Tips tbg wt LC, it just helps us out, like
with stuff we want to do, things like travel, things
like live shows, things like working up, fixing up our website,
(05:43):
you know, any promotional materials. Even when we do the
stuff like holiday cars, which is coming up soon. I'll
be telling you about that soon. But even with the
holiday cars, like that's out of our pocket. There's no
money coming in to offset we whatever we print up,
whatever we design, whatever we paid for the shipping, all
that stuff that's on us, the trips to the gas
(06:04):
that I mean, to the post office over and over
and over again. That's all stuff we do whenever we
do a live show and there's anything there with stickers
and post posters.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
And you know, all that stuff. That's y'all. So a
lot of this stuff.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
And the thing is you would go, well, you're doing
a live show, don't you just make the money back
during the show?
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Man you got for us? We put it all in upfront.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
Yes, yeah, we have to be upfront.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
And then we got a hope on the backside that
we get something out of it. But we can only
afford to take those chances because of y'all when y'all
put that that membership in and so this is like
a way of us doing the sale that when we
first started this, the reason we came up with fifteen
dollars an hour, I mean a month, fifteen dollars a month,
which was five, six, seven years ago. At this point,
(06:52):
it was literally I didn't know how people would sign up.
And I was like, if we can get to one
hundred people who sign up for fifteen, that's fifteen hundred
dollars in a month. I will try to make I'll
eat ramen noodles, but I will try to make that work.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
We was like, we're gonna make this work.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
And we didn't have a bearing on how many people
would sign up. Now we've had more than enough people
sign up that when people take advantage of this deal,
it makes me feel good too, because I'm like, cool,
eight dollars a month is not gonna break too many
people's pockets and hopefully, you know, people feel like they're
getting their value out of it. You can obviously cancel
it anytime, you can choose not to renew.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
People do that at the time.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
It's no hard feelings, right, Nope, because we don't take
it personally.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Yeah, and it helps insulate us a little bit against
the volatile economy we're all living through right now. So
you know, when those people that do have to cancel,
those people that do whatever life changes boom, this is
a money we can depend on. So there's that, and
that's why we do the sell. I think I've described
(07:58):
what you get out of the sell, the extra or
the episodes.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
The other thing you get out of the cell.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
We do live crowdcast, which is the videos like you're
seeing right now that we're gonna put everywhere on our
social media's and YouTube or whatever you get that too,
Like you can come hang out with us and watch
us record with our friends the Nerd Show for the
Nerd Off, or Balls Deep sports pregamee, sometimes even the
(08:23):
movie reviews. If I have a guest on, I might
do a crowdcast for you guys. So, and there's always
more and more stuff we're thinking of doing that we
haven't implemented yet, but there are some benefits that I'm
thinking of adding to the premium paywall, stuff like shows
with no ads, maybe even solo like you know, journaling
(08:47):
type shows or stuff like that. So there's always stuff
you'll be on the cutting edge of whatever we innovate
over here. Other things that you other questions you may have,
how do you get the deals, Well, that's a great question,
that's probably the number one question, the first glad you asked. Yeah,
the first thing you do is go to the Blackout
(09:09):
tips dot com slash premium slash premium and that will
take you to our website where you can sign up
to become a member. It gives you like all the
like here's what here's the steps to do it right.
There's also a link in the show notes to do
(09:31):
it as well in this whatever you're watching or reading
right now, but you want to be a registered member
of the site, so you may have to register, which
is on the right hand side of the site. When
you go there, you want to make sure you're logged in,
and then you go to a page called Membership Details,
which once again it's a link that will be it'll
(09:54):
say click here in our show notes that you're experiencing right.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Now, and if you're on phone sometimes you have to
turn them side ways to get the information to pop
up right.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
So on that Membership Details there's a button that says upgrade,
and then you can pick all these different packages and
the Black Friday Special is going to be there until
the ninth.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Every year, one of y'all, some of y'all, more than
one of.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Y'all hits me up the tenth the oh I heard,
I just missed it or whatever. Listen, just make it
easy on both of us. Try to sign up by
the knife man. I don't it's more work for me
to have to go back and do all this stuff.
So you can do it there, or this year you
can go to our Patreon.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
A lot of people have taken advantage of Patreon. There
are a lot of people who are who were like
regular members of the site that was just like, Patreon
is more convenient for me, so, which is fine. So
they canceled everything on the site and just moved over
to Patreon.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
If you have any issues where you're like, I want
to cancel what's on the site and switch over to Patreon,
email me the black out tip, sayt Gmail.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
It's not a problem.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
I've helped many many people be able to switch over.
I know for a lot of people, Patreon is more
convenient because it has its own app and you can
use the RSS feed even more easy from there than
you can from our own website, which is still easy,
but this is easier.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
And I get it.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
So the difference of the two is, of course, on Patreon,
you don't get the full backlog of every premium show
we've ever done, so you can't go six years back
in the catalog and be like, oh, here's the first
ever Ballsy.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Sports they recorded.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
You can go back until August of this year, I
believe is when it starts. We may experiment with some
things like giving you guys throwback episodes or classic episodes
stuff like that, but in general that's where you go
if you want to sign up for the Patreon, you
go to the pay you go to patreon dot com.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Slash the black guy who tips.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
I'm gonna share my screen so you guys can see
this because people are will ask me like, how do
I sign up for?
Speaker 1 (12:03):
How do I know I'm signing up for it?
Speaker 2 (12:05):
So I've logged out on here just so you can
see what it will look like to a person who's
not you know, a member. At the very top of
the screen on your laptop or whatever browser, get thirty
three percent off your first year when you pay annually.
Ends eleven fifty am December ninth. Let should say PM
(12:28):
I can switch that, but anyway, say terms apply, Yeah, terms,
so like you can. That's how you get it. There's
also people that join for free. There's also people that
you know that when you click the membership options, it'll say.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
These two options.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Now, if you're looking at this, it says just to
tip five dollars a month. That's for people that just
want like a little bit of extra stuff one episode
a week. But and it's random. But then there's a
premium going for fifteen dollars a month. Okay, these are
not the options to get you the thirty three percent off.
To get the thirty three percent off, you want to
click this little tab right here at the top, this
(13:05):
little little to noggle whatever this is.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Toggle.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Then that goes to annual and once it goes to
your annual membership and you say, it goes eight dollars
thirty four cents a month for a.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Year, that's the that's the cell.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
Okay, So just letting people know and.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Then you can go aheare you know, give them your
information and that'll tell you total do today one hundred
dollars and ten cents because that was it goes by percentages,
so I wouldn't let me make it any other way.
So that is essentially how you can sign up for
that stuff and get those deals.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
And then the other option that they have this year, which.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
I didn't know you could do from Patreon, but apparently
you can.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
You can gift subscriptions.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
So you can do it their way by going to
you know, the same link for Patreon, but put slash
gift at the end, or you can email me the
blackout tips at gmail dot com and if you want
to like PayPal, me, Venmo, me, whatever the however many
people you would like to give the subscription to I'll
(14:13):
do the work legwork, I don't mind.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
We actually have a list.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Of people who've emailed me to be like, hey, man,
if you could, like if people are giving out free
subscriptions or paying for other people's subscriptions, hit me up.
I would love to be a person. And man, it
really warms my heart because you know, enough of y'all
have done it that I've been able to give away
at least like let me see the total. I think
(14:37):
I can actually see the total. But I've been able
to like, you know, hook people up because of y'all,
with y'all stuff.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
For with like how many subscriptions? Look, Oh, I had
to lie back in.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
That's why at any rate, I want to say no
less than like eight to ten people.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Yeah. And also the some of the people I know.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
One person and particularly was like, hey, shout out to
the Black Auto Tips and their family because I actually
got to get like a membership, you know what I'm saying.
So I was like, oh, and they was like really
happy and really excited that they were able to get
to share in one of them. That's one thing that's
very beautiful about our community because you might not have
(15:23):
the fire to day, but you might have it tomorrow
to be able to get to somebody else. And so
we really do appreciate that, y'all, because, yeah, it's tough
out here for some people.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
So thank you for those people to do that.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
We don't ask noise it required, so we just thank
you for looking out for other people out of the
kindness of your heart.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Right.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
So, the main things to take from this basically is
if you had questions, hopefully this answered most of your questions.
If you want to want a gift the subscription, you
should know where to do that.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Email me and anything you have.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
The black OUTIMS at gmail dot com is the best
that's way to get in contact with us. This is
why we do it. This is why we push it.
You got until the ninth. It's over on the ninth,
you know, so just make sure you do it bout
the ninth if you want to sign up. And thank
you most importantly to everybody who has signed up, who
(16:17):
continues to support the people that are going to sign up,
the people that have given subscriptions to other people. I mean,
you guys are making people's days with this, and like
some of these people had actually asked about the subscription
over a year ago.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
And so, I it is crazy.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
I emailed them a year old from a year old email, like, hey,
people are gifting subscriptions now, and everybody hit me back
within like a day, like they was waiting on y'all.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
They was like hey, I.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
Was like one day, he's somebody gonna bless me.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Right, So yeah, And if you didn't get gifted one
yet or whatever, it's not necessarily something you have to
do around and sell. You could do it at any time,
but just right now is probably cheapest time to give
somebody a year of premium. So yeah, I think that's
it for any anything I left out care anything.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
That's that's it for the sale.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
And I guess, like Roger's talking about, if you don't
have like the full fifteen or can't do the sell,
just know that there's also an option for the five dollars.
That's what we did, just the tip. But Roger said
with that you don't get to pick. It's kind of
random and things like that.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
Yeah, and that's the year. That's not for the sell.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
That's year round anytime, So like I didn't. Yeah, So anyway,
sign up if you want to sign up. And also
if you have any issues where you would like to
you need to cancel or something like that, you can
do it through PayPal if you're signed up that way,
or Patreon if you're signed up that way. But if
it's something where you need to email me, of course
I'm always here. So yeah, follow the instructions and the
(17:52):
and the links and the show notes if you would
like to sign up, and if not, no hard feelings,
but we definitely wanted to give you guys head up
because I'm getting lots of questions and then we just
want to make sure that everyone got their questions answered.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Yeah, and then, like Roger said, you're get you're getting
your money's worth. Like when people hit it up for
the first time, for some people, they're like surprised. They're like, oh,
y'all got a lot of shit back here, like we
sure do.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
Yeah. So all right, we'll talk to you guys soon
till next time. I love you.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
I love you too, yah,
